"Group work is a form of voluntary association of members benefiting from cooperative learning that
enhances the total output of the activity than when done individually".
Working in a group can be very difficult at times. Different people with different views may not
always agree which one another. Throughout the various task I played the communicator. I made
sure everyone was on track on what we wanted to do. I also made sure people was okay and
happy in the role they was playing in the group. My group worked together in collecting ideas
from one another and making it into one. My feelings about the group process was a little mix at
first but, at the end I felt like we actually brought it together. Beginning of the group member were
all over the place and had no direction, when we were able to take a breather in just think ideas
started to flow. I felt like that took the communicator to make it happen. By reinsuring the other
group members that everything will go smoothly if we just don't overthink everything. The things
I will have done differently in the group was to use my time wisely. I believe because we were on
a time frame, I tended to rush things just to say okay where done. Also, more support and trust at a
point of time I was kind of second guessing another idea. I feel that you have to have trust in your
group member to make it effective.

I would rate our group as a whole with a 9, because we all took this project seriously and wanted
to do a good job. We all put effort into this project, even though we all thought at some point that
the others were doing more work than ourselves, however, we all put in more work than we
thought we did. Overall, I am happy that I chose to be in this group because I feel like we were
able to work together and not be afraid of sharing our opinions and feedback, even with this group
consisting of people who tend to be very opinionated.

I would rate Kathi with a 9. I feel like she did an amazing job with the financial aspect of the
project and did a lot of research into the amounts and grants. She is also one of the main people
responsible for the name of our project. Kathi would also share her knowledge on any of the topics
as well. During the presentation, I feel like she was able to share at least some of the work that she
put into the financial section, although she was rushed because of the time limit.

Evaluation Design Our evaluation design will be based off of one group pretest post–test design.
Our experimental or treatment group will be all freshmen at Ohio State University (because our
program will be part of the survey class which all freshmen are required to take). For our purposes
we will not have a control group, due to the ethical issues of giving one group the intervention and
administering it to the other. We will also conduct a one year follow–up test to truly test the long

outcomes might reflect this improved capacity. Other limitations in general to our research are related
to the effectiveness of our intervention. The participants' exposure to the intervention is very

ability to have any kind of positive long–lasting impact on students. When a freshman student has
eventually made it through college and graduates will they still be using the information they learned

Possibly an issue regarding validity is that the initial problem presented to us (the counseling office)
was stress and anxiety due to finances. However in our intervention we are measuring students'
financial knowledge and financial self–efficacy. Although we know according to research that
increasing knowledge and self–efficacy will likely decrease stress/anxiety associated with the matter,
we are not directly measuring students'

Group Speech Reflection This speech was something that I had never done before. I had given
group presentations in the past but never anything as long or as formal as this. Overall I was
pleased with the way our presentation went and I am glad I was able to get experience in doing
activities like this one. First, the most difficult part of the project to research for us were the
reasons why each individual did what they did. We were able to find the details about the incident
but we struggled to find reasons why they did it. These bits of information were crucial for us to

Tyler, Bryan, and I became sidetracked often and frequently had to steer ourselves back in the
right direction. When we did this we were able to focus and get valuable work done. I felt a
positive to our speech was that we presented a good amount of facts from reliable sources and we

As a group, it was important to us to have this in our FVC for a few reasons. One of the reasons
for this was because we did not want any member to show up and be under the influence or
complain the whole time. If this were to happen, we would have to deal with that problem which

Even though there were problems with people pulling their own weight, I think that the outcome
was great. We were able to create a program and without the other group members, it would not
have been successful. I think it is important to keep in mind the end goal while going through

As a group, I felt that we worked diligently and brought everything together very nicely. Everyone
accomplished their research and knew about the embalming process. Taylor worked on the
makeup and had an awesome final product. Tommy even researched and asked how he could
help! He brought in a costume and participated however he could; even though he still would get
a little distracted. Tyson did not use his notes on the day of presenting, and kept the kids focused.
Of course, there were natural leaders (Lalani, Hannah, and myself) that kept the group moving
forward and on track. The others in my group worked alongside us and pulled together an
awesome performance! Everyone used their talents in different ways while preparing for the
presentation. 3.If I worked with anyone in this group again, I would choose Hannah, Taylor, or

Similar to Tuckman's five stages of group development is Corey and Corey, they claim that the first
stage; Pregroup is "setting expectations, establishing group rules and procedures, role preparation
and skills building" (Corey, Corey, Corey 2010 p123). The group did well in this stage, as the
group was given a very clear aim, we discussed each members skill sets and while preparing a
group contract with our aims objectives and rules. A group contract is a very useful facilitation
tool as it sets out very clear guidelines for the group and defines what is acceptable and
unacceptable behaviour for the group members (Tuckman 1965). The group members were able to
gain clarity from the group contract, allowing them to identify the norms and boundaries of the
group. For example our group decided that if a member were for any reason not be able to attend a
meeting they would have to let the team know in advance, if this did happen the rest of the team
would relay the information via email to the missing group member.
The next time the group met they were in the storming stage (Tuckman 1965). This stage is where

Overall, the performance was okay, however, there were many flaws. My own performance was
not at all perfect because I definitely could have done a lot better. I should have taken more action
