1) BKK is the new integrated transport organizer of Budapest founded in 2010 that aims to promote environmentally friendly public transport like cycling and walking. 2) Since 2010, BKK has built over 15km of bike paths and lanes and opened over 12km of one-way streets to bidirectional cycling. 3) BKK's goals are to increase cycling modal share to 10% by 2020 by building a coherent cycling network, making the inner city more bike-friendly, and improving safety and services. 4) A major project is a bike sharing system called Bubi launching in 2014 with over 1,000 bikes across the city.

- Within the framework of a new city management model, in late 2010 BKK Centre for Budapest Transport was created to manage public transport, cycling, road infrastructure management, parking, taxi services and transport-related development projects of Budapest, as an integrated transport competence centr e . BKK is responsible for creating transport strategies, coordination of implementation, and preparation of integrated transport development projects. Better integration of cycling into the urban transport system is one of the most important tasks of BKK, also a great chance to change urban mobility in Budapest. The Centre for Budapest Transport (BKK), deals with cycling in and around Budapest with great enthusiasm. BKK has made huge efforts so far in the field of improving the cycling modal split, building new cycling infrastructure, and the development of environmental ly friendly transport modes .
- BKK emphasises that cycle developments and planning methods should be complex . The objective is to form the city in a way to be cycle friendly and easy to pass across. There are no significant conflict or accedents in connetion with this new trafic order. 2013-ban 10 helyszínen néhány, hálózatilag különösen fontosnak tartott esetben forgalomtechnikai intézkedésként kijelöltük az ellenirányú kerékpározást meglévő egyirányú utcában. Új egyirányúsítás kezdeményezésünkre már eleve ellenirányú kerékpározás lehetővé tételével történik. A többi helyszín valamely nagyobb beavatkozás (kerékpáros útvonal, útfelújítás, útátépítés) részeként valósult meg.

- The City of Budapest has decided to introduce a bike-shareing scheme (called the 'bubi' - ‘Budapest Bike' ) from fall of 2013, covering a 15 km2 area of the inner city, with 75 stations and over 1,000 bicycles. The main aim of the city council is to introduce a new, fast, green and integrated public transport service, to promote urban cycling and to reduce car traffic , and therefore affect general travel behaviour. The Centre for Budapest Transport (BKK), a company fully owned by the Municipality of Budapest in charge of organizing and managing the capital’s public transport system has received EU funds for the implementation of a public bike-sharing scheme as a public service. This special operation model has influenced the planning process from the beginning. Public procurationin going on this year, and the installation of the scheme is expacted for Spring of 2014. - The complete area of downtown Budapest is ideal for urban cycling as far as urban structure is concerned but the bike-friendly development of the road network is an issue yet to be addressed by the Municipality. The Bubi system will provide an effective and environmentally friendly alternative for inner city travel, and will also promote cycling and therefore affect general travel behaviour. Apart from the technicalities of the Bubi system, a general study of the existing road network has been carried out, focusing on the weaknesses of the infrastructure, and providing an action plan to make the inner city more bike-friendly. After a joint learning process, higher rate of bicycle usage will result in less car usage and a more liveable environment in the inner city.
