Ethoxyquin is a fungicide of the quinoline type. It is synthesized from p-nitrochlorobenzene and sodium ethoxide to form p-phenitidine, which is then reacted with acetone to form the final product, ethoxyquin. Ethoxyquin is used as a fungicide and is traded under the name Stop-Scald by Monsanto.
