9 Ways To Increase Profits For Your Creative Business Case...
9 Ways to Increase Profits for Your Creative Business
The difficult thing to cope with for creatives in business is maximizing profits. When you strike out
on your own there's a lot of excitement about the freedom you will have to create and operate on
your own terms. Unfortunately, this can go downhill quick when you don't have the business nous to
back up your creative instincts.
So, how can you increase profits for your creative business and ensure your continued success?
We've put together nine ways to get you through the more challenging times (and even maximise
your profits when things are going well).
1. Your Time Counts
So, do bill your hours. There's this thought process in the creative world that you bill for the work
that's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Think about how you can turn this into an investment. Find a neighbourhood that will increase in
value and add value to the property.
You'll also have assets (furniture, artwork, vehicles, computers, etc.) that count to your balance sheet
– these can be sold to generate revenue if necessary.
5. Leasing
If you're just starting out and you don't have the money to purchase a workspace, then leasing may
be your best option. Alternatively, if you have already purchased a workspace there may be room for
you to lease to another creative type and earn extra income to help pay the mortgage as well as other
overheads.
6. Producing Your Own Products & Services
You're a creative so you are constantly coming up with new and wonderful ideas, whether they
apply to specific projects or are inspired elsewhere. Your offering be a physical product, an idea, a
service that you offer, or even regular events on your expert subjects. Anything can be monetised
when there's a market for it.
7. Side Hustle
You can operate a side business with no relevance to your main business to provide yourself with a
much–needed boost in profits. It will require more time and effort, and employees... but if you get in
on the act with someone else as opposed to being the main operator you have a new source of
revenue.
8. Equity
As a new business, you may find other new businesses tend to offer things other than payment in

Who Is Responsible For Impact Investing? What Roles Do...
Who is involved in impact investing? What roles do they play? At this nascent stage, a spectrum of
intermediaries: government, private sector, innovative foundations and service providers, as well as
the end impact investors/funds, all play a part in the growth of this sector. Currently, there is a wide
divide in the landscape of social enterprise finance. On one side, much of the available supply of
impact investment capital is seeking a "sweet spot" where attractive financial returns combine with
positive social, economic or environmental impact. Meanwhile, there is an unmet demand from
social enterprises that are operationally and structurally ready to absorb financial support (Stanford
Social Innovation Review, Spring 2014). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Intermediaries in this sector can be categorized into three distinct buckets: 1. Funders: These are
innovative foundations, philanthropists and high net–worth individuals who have the capacity to be
first movers as well as provide grant and first loss capital during the early stages of the social
enterprise. This group not only brings funding to the sector, but can also help investees with
technical assistance in the form of operational and organizational capacity, and access to their
networks. Through their actions they can help the enterprise to become financial viable and scale its
operations. They can also harness and influence non–traditional sources of capital, such as venture
capital and private equity for investment in the sector. Example: The F.B. Heron foundation is an
innovative foundation in the United States that is playing a significant role in the development of the
impact investing sector. In their 2011 Foundation Strategy, F.B. Heron declared a move to deploy all
their assets towards mission. Over the past three years, F.B. Heron has evolved from a solely grant–
making approach, to making a combination of grants and investments in the form of patient capital.
Patient capital is generally defined as an investment in an early–stage enterprise that can provide
both a social as well as a financial return. F.B. Heron is making program–related investments

Jumpstart Our Business Act Case Study
Introduction Before 2008, the financial services industry experienced record growth and companies
leveraged their portfolio to take more risk. One of the largest failures in financial services was the
2008 collapse and bankruptcy of 158–year–old Lehman Brothers. Bear Stearns, Merrill Lynch, and
Lehman Brothers had poor credit risks and loose liquidity requirements as did most companies
during this period. The difficulties in the housing market led to an aggressive number of mortgage
defaults and created a catastrophic scenario. The financial services model needs repair, and the
enactment of the Jumpstart Our Business Act (JOBS Act) signals a new era of alternative financing.
Group Capital is a registered broker–dealer which can be better understood by analyzing the
business environment and sustainability of crowdfunding, examining the required internal resource
and communication methodologies, exploring crowdfunding companies public image or response to
governmental challenges, and scrutinizing the governments impact and the external support to
combat the regulations. Business Climate Over the last 100 years, there have been instances of
financial crises, and lawmakers imposed more rules and regulations on brokers–dealers. After the

will experience rapid growth as a result of regulatory changes stemming from the JOBS Act. The
procedures and resolutions are finalized, and an influx of market participants will occur sometime in
the second quarter of 2016. Companies are desiring to offer equity crowdfunding need to develop
their internal resources to address the additional burden. Risk reduction measure become the focus
of the SEC and those rules are frequently evolving (Sigar, 2012). Because of the inherent risks of

Issue Brief On Net Neutrality
Issue Brief on Net Neutrality Background Information The Federal Communications Commission
(FCC), which is a formal policy actor (Kraft and Furlong, (2015), has faced numerous challenges in
resolving the difficulties involving Net Neutrality. Jamison and Layton state that "In 2005, FCC
adopted an Internet Policy Statement consisting of four consumer–centric guiding principles, also
referred to as the Four Freedoms to ensure that broadband networks are widely deployed, open,
affordable, and accessible to all consumers. When the agency attempted to apply these rules in 2008,
the DC Circuit rejected the FCC's decision on jurisdictional grounds. These principles could have
been successful if the FCC could have administered this policy. In 2010, the FCC's second attempt
was a light–handed, multistakeholder approach for addressing net neutrality issues. In 2014, the DC
Court again reversed the FCC on jurisdictional grounds (Jamison & Layton, 2016). Problem There
are four serious problems regarding US net neutrality policy to date. One is a market muddle
problem that offers the same level of internet services while disregarding the differences in
competition, geography, customer type, services, etc. These actions result in hindering
advancements by causing undue analysis and aggressive injunctions on positive consumer
protection services. The next problem is an overkill problem because net neutrality rules force
internet service providers from offering service features. Providers

Essay about Pros and Cons of the Private Insurance Industry
1. Introduction
Extreme weathers, such as storm, floods, heat waves, drought, glacial retreat, have suffered human–
being and threaten the life, properties and economies for a long time. In recent years, a significant
increase is observed in the extreme weathers, such as the number of heavy precipitation events,
more intense and longer drought/heat waves as a consequence of anthropogenic influences (IPCC,
2011). In particular, intensification of extreme precipitation is likely to lead extreme coastal high
water associated with an increase in mean sea level. On the other hand, there might be positive
results from global warming, such as improved agriculture in some high latitude regions
(Mendelsohn, 2006), but economic losses from weather– ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This essay focuses on the impacts and challenges of private insurance industry in growing weather–
and climate–related disasters. Unsurprisingly, private insurance would avoid the financial loss and
withdraw its coverage of vulnerable areas. However, insurance mechanism can bring various
benefits in terms of loss and damage associated with natural disasters and increasing efforts for
equity in the industry in the world. I shall illustrate the benefits of insurance mechanism and a wide
range of activities that the industry has worked on, and the potential of a contribution to the
international aid programme as a challenge in the future.
2. Insurance mechanism
What is insurance?
There are a wide range of surrounding risks in activities for individual and companies, such as
government finance regulations, ISO certification, IT security, compliance, increasing in natural
disasters and infectious diseases, and so on. A failure of the risk management could cause a huge
financial loss, a bankrupt or a degradation in the reliability. Therefore, the world has invented
various risk management mechanisms. There are three main existing risk management schemes to
guarantee to meet specified costs for individual, companies or organizations (Freeman and
Kunreuther, 1997). One of the schemes is government benefit program. Damaged citizens or
companies are benefited by the local council or government financially. While it provides

Varieties of Capitalism Essay
Introduction
Due to the rapid process of globalization, the issue of whether socio–economic institutions and
policies are converging or diverging across different nations has become controversial. Various
literatures on comparative institutional studies has been developed, in which the Varieties of
Capitalism approach by Hall and Soskice (2001) is one of the most significant concepts that is being
widely discussed. According to Hall and Thelen (2005), the 'varieties of capitalism' is a firm–
centered approach where firm is placed as a key actor and is being considered relational. It
emphasizes the concept of institutional complementarities, which '...one set of institutions is
complementary to another when its presence raises the returns ... Show more content on

Institutional Complementarities
The concept of institutional complementarities revolves around the notion of the idea that 'the co–
existence (within a given system) of two or more institutions mutually enhances the performance
contribution of each individual institution' (Deeg, 2007. P.611). Hopner (2005) argued that the idea
of complementary implies that different spheres of institutions could only be combined in a number
of ways in order to be effective, which enhanced the theory of the existence of various types of
capitalisms. Hall and Soskice (2001) identified these differences in the varieties of capitalism
literature and then classified economies into liberal market economies and coordinated market
economies, each with its unique institutional complementarities.
The United Kingdom representing LME
Under the VoC framework, economies of various nations are mainly being classified into either
liberal market economies or coordinated market economies. According to Deeg and Jackson (2008),
market competitions and hierarchies are the main ways for firms to coordinate activities with other
spheres in liberal market economies. The supply and demand for products is determined by price
movements in the markets to obtain equilibrium, where market exchanges are conducted in an arm's
length with formal contracting. With stock market financing being the major way to obtain funds,
the financial systems of LMEs operate mainly based on information that are

Professional Critique: Bus Stop
Bus Stop
By William Inge
Directed by David Schweizer
Bus Stop written by the playwright William Inge was performed on Tuesday December 4th at
Centerstage, the State Theatre of Maryland. The production explained the transformation and
change of the characters throughout the show. Directed by David Schweizer, all the elements of the
production came together to form the concept of transformation. The production of Bus Stop grasps
the relevance of individuals finding themselves. Not only does the physically abusive cowboy find
himself, but the young café waitress finds herself through the fragility of the human heart that lies
deep within the characters. These characters continue living and moving forward in their feisty,

Costume designer, Clint Ramos tied the actors to their characters simply by how they were robed.
Bo and Virgil's costumes showed us that they were cowboys as soon as they stepped foot on the
stage, along with Grace and Elma's pink dresses and white aprons as they worked in the café the
whole production. Overall, the message shared from the production of Bus Stop set the
transformation of characters against reality. Directed by David Schweizer and written by the
playwright, William Inge, this production really hits home on how people are and end up after
change and transformation. The elements of the production really help enhance the actor's
performances and move the play along together as a

Music as a Stress Reliever
They say music is one of the biggest stress relievers while acting gives you a chance to engulf
yourself into a character and be someone else for a change. Together these two create Musical
Theater, possibly one of the best two combinations known to man. Musical Theater is a worldwide
form of entertainment that has been around since ancient times and exhibits emotion through a
series of acts which include singing, dancing and scripted acting. Different areas of the world follow
unique storylines which are relevant to their past and current events. The beginning of Musical
Theater dates back to ancient times and originates mainly from the Romans, Greeks and Natya
Shastas and interestingly enough, it also dates back to The Harlem Renaissance Era. In the third BC
Roman comedies began to include dance and music. The Romans attached metal slabs to the bottom
of their shoes helping them to dance better. These shoes were called Sabilla shoes which now have
evolved into tap shoes. In the fifth BC ancient Greeks followed in the Romans footsteps by
including dance and music into their theatrical plays. PARAGRAPH ABOUT ROMAN
RENAISSANCE ERA Later in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, religious dramas with chants and
poetic lines transformed slowly into musicals as they began to add music into the dramas. In the
1700s ballad and comic operas, which were considered early Musicals, grew in popularity
throughout Britain, France and Germany (TheatricalMusical.com). While Musicals

Red Bull is not differentiated by gender, race or income, but does position itself as young, sporty
and dynamic. It is also perceived as the market leader. The brand is not associated with a type of
distribution channel, but does insist on usage situations – anytime, anywhere, for any situation (see
advertisement A in Appendix 1).
We evaluated the brand personality using the five dimensions sophistication, competence, sincerity,
excitement, and ruggedness on a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being the lowest score on that dimension. As we
can see on the chart, sophistication and ruggedness have lower scores, while all other dimensions
achieve high grades. Red Bull is especially perceived as exciting and competent through its
sponsoring of events (see advertising B and C in Appendix 1). Red Bull does not emphasize
associations to its history or the country in which it is produced.
We can affirm that Red Bull has strong, favorable and unique brand associations, such as the
dynamic and fun association, the typical taste and energy provision feature, and the competence
perception due to its market leader position.
2.4. Judgments
The overall evaluation of the quality of Red Bull is very positive. The brand is very familiar,
customers believe it is of good quality and have a strong purchase intent. As Red Bull is still

The Ozark Actors Theatre And Their Mission
APPLICATION OF THEORIES When looking at the Ozark Actors Theatre and their mission, in
general, they relate to the supply–side theory as to why they exist. The supply side theory "attributes
the existence of nonprofit organizations to the vision and initiative of individuals who have created
and built them" (Worth, pg. 50). Additionally, the organization also exists as a common good, "one
that cannot be consumed alone by an individual nor are they an interest or benefit to all people"
(Worth, pg. 52). This is true as OAT provides community theatre in a rural area, but it is not a
service that is of interest to the entire community. On the contrary, Missouri Nurses Association acts

Waiting For Guffman
These past two weeks, while the theatre has been relatively calm, I chose three different pieces of
media in order to delve further into my theater knowledge. The first of which is "Waiting for
Guffman", a mockumentary on the beginning of a theater company in Blaine, Missouri. The town's
resident director, Corky St. Clair, and the amateur cast of a corny small–town musical production go
overboard when they hear that Mr. Guffman, representative of the prestigious New York based
Oppenheimer Organization, will be in attendance. This film was a suggestion from my mentor, Ms.
Hawkins, because it relates to many of the experiences I've had in my third space. For example, the
cast have to go around town promoting the show in order to get people to ... Show more content on

It is tough to not be your biggest critic, but it is better to leave that job to others. Also, actors should
treat auditions like rehearsals, as if you already have the role and are going to rehearsal. Apparently
this is a commonly used tactic that many actors use to keep calm in an audition setting. Another tip
was that if you risk failure, you can make truthful discoveries about yourself or a character. Failures
become the struggles that lead to success; the word, failure, carries more weight than it should, and
most failures are actually setbacks. The only time you truly fail is when you quit because you
become incapable of success. The final piece of advice that I found helpful was to find other
creative outlets. In a field like acting, the majority of the job is going to auditions and waiting.
Therefore, it becomes imperative that you find ways to use your creativity, rather than waiting
around for someone to give you a part. Writing your own material can showcase yourself well,
especially if you do not have representation. It is ok to get a little lost, to ask yourself deep
questions, and to not have all the answers. What matters most is that you never lose sight of your

Integrated Marketing Communications Is Defined As A...
According to Ang (2014), Integrated Marketing Communications is defined as a research–based,
audience–focused, communication planning process that aims to execute a brand communication
program over time and this is achieved by coordinating different communication disciplines and
integrating the creative content across different media. The aim is to achieve short–term financial
gain and long–term brand equity. Since IMC is all about using different Media vehicles, the most
effective one is Television; such as Reality television shows which has many benefits and
contributions especially when it comes to creating a successful brand. There are two reality
television shows that has been analysed from the first part of this assignment and they are: Keeping
up with the Kardashians and My Kitchen Rules, which I will then discuss how it relates to branding.
Brand equity is important to create and maintain as it is an intangible asset of added value as well as
goodwill that will then result from the favourable image, impressions of differentiation and the
strength of consumer attachment to brand name, company name or trademark. The stronger the
equity the better it positions the company as well as its brand which is only often reinforced through
advertising or even sponsoring. For example, Breville appliances command good quality kitchen
appliances and represents higher price than the other brands as it is being used by the contestants of
My Kitchen Rules. In other words, it is the

Another actor of employment relationship is union, defined as "a continuous association of wage
earners for the purpose of maintaining or improving the conditions of their working lives" (S&B
Webb, 1898). The function of union which is let workers join together to organise a union and the
union which can empower them in the employment relationship. Union also is "legitimate voice of
employees" in bargaining with employers (Nankervis et al, 2005, p.555). Unions like Queensland
Teachers Union, Transport Workers Union, Queensland Public Sector Union have been successful in
Australia in achieving improved wages and working conditions for employees. People join the union
is because of their dissatisfaction with economic aspects of the job, a desire to influence the work
environment and also believes that benefits of unionism outweigh the expected cost. According to
the case, it shows that health union are battling to secure next year's pay rise for nurses against a
background of public sector cuts. Moreover, in the case, Snow (2009) believes that the union it is
appropriate that staff are rewarded through training and pay where there are significant
improvements in quality and services.(p 7).Unions have previously called for staff to be rewarded
for efficiency savings, but employers have been reluctant to introduce such measures. (Snow, 2009,
p.7). From this we can see that union also pay an important role on involvement of managers and

The purpose of this study is to raise the comprehension and have more knowledge on the flexible
energy management that is associated to business models and chances for households in Finland,
however at once implementing solar power generation into the equation. The main concentration
will be on the demand capabilities, hourly consumption and solar production analysis of households
in Finland ,however other countries like Southern European have also covered for comparison.
Moreover, for fundamentals various models are deliberated, besides which sensitivity on investment
analysis are conducted with choices of realistic scenario. In Finland business opportunities does
exist but however, until now still no attractive returns. Base case analysis demonstrated internal
rates which are among–3,0 % and –1,6 % , this is without demand response benefits, and internal
rates of return among–0,8 % and 0,3 % with them. Therefore, demand response had a really
important positive effect on the returns of an investment during regulation trading activities and

Diversity In Theatre
Diversity in Theatre
Theatre has evolved over the many years. As it has grown, it moved to include more diverse
performers, crew, producers, and audiences. This is an exploration of the expansion of diverse
theatre.
Western Theatre as an artform began as religious rituals in ancient Greece. Formerly, only men
could become actors, women being typically played by men or boys. In Ancient Roman and
Medieval theatre women were allowed occasionally, but not often. In the 17th Century opera
became prevalent, which began to include female singers. Behn was the first professional woman
writer in English literature, best known for her plays and her novel 'Oroonoko'. Which led the way
for female playwrights. Females began to slowly but surely make ... Show more content on

2011, 12% of the population was African American, 6% Asian American, and 16.7% Latino and
Hispanic. As with everything, theatre matured to include these populations. In Dahomey in 1903

house."
Throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, many productions with prominently non–white casts have
become widely popular, including Miss Saigon, which won 7 Tony's in 1991, In the Heights which
won the Tony for Best Musical in 2008, and Hairspray, which also received a movie adaption.
Although many of these musicals focus mainly on issues involving race, and are historically non–

"nontraditional casting" and also known as "integrated casting," It is the practice of not considering
an actors race or nationality while casting. Rising in popularity due to the success of Hamilton,
which casts actors of all races as white historic figures, for example, mixed race actor Daveed Diggs

The Impact Of Broadening The Base Of The Gst But Keeping...
What would be the impact of broadening the base of the GST but keeping it at the current rate of
10%? The Howard Liberal Government introduced the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in 2000, as
part of the A New Tax System (ANTS). It currently exists as 10% consumption tax on most goods
and services sold or consumed in Australia with notable exceptions on fresh foods, education and
health. In a radio interview, former PM John Howard explained his preference for minimal
exemption and the necessity to pass the bill through senate required the government to negotiate
with the Australian Democrats (Reynold 2000). In its current form, the GST has bipartisan support
due to its relative success. Recently the need for more revenue for States to ... Show more content on

Broadening the base of GST will also be compared to raising the rate of GST.
Current Policy Analysis and Evaluation:
When evaluating our current system, the difficulty to isolate effects of the GST from the other
changes in tax in ANTS shouldn't be underestimated (Valadkhani 2005). Former treasurer, Peter
Costello (2010), points out how the introduction of the GST was used to replace existing wholesale
sales taxes, and coincided with the removal of other inefficient state taxes and duties, and a personal
income tax rate cut. To address concerns for lower income earners, the government simplified the
family benefits program and provided private health insurance premium rebates (Costello 2010).
Although perceived as a regressive tax, the combination of the GST (and compensation for equity)
and progressive income tax, resulted in a relatively balanced redistribution system for the period
between 1994–2002 (Warren, Harding & Lloyd 2005 cited in Nguyen 2016, p. 108). GST tends to
considered by economists as one of the more efficient revenue raising tax (Nguyen 2016).
Internationally and domestically, there is a push by economists to shift the tax mix towards
consumption taxes away from the more distortive income and company tax (CPAAustralia 2015;
OECD 2014). Currently Australia's GST base of 47% of Goods and Services is less than the OECD
average of 55% (Nguyen 2016). These

Constitutional Law Assignment 2011
Outline: The purpose of this paper is to Advise Allan, Belinda and CareFree Pty Ltd as to the
constitutional validity of the Medicinal Cannabis Act 2011 (Cth) (MCA) in terms of whether its
provisions apply to them under the trade and commerce power s 51(i) and as to whether the MCEA
(Medicinal Cannabis Export Authority) is constitutionally valid in light of the separation of judicial
power doctrine. This paper begins by analysing the validity of MCEA. In doing so the paper not
only confers to the characterisation of the laws under the trade and commerce powers of s 51(i), but
also includes the implied incidental powers and the doctrine of principles of separation of judicial
power. There after it advises Allan, Belinda and Carefree Pty ... Show more content on

Therefore in the given impugned law, the MCA is related to the trade and commerce with other
countries, the character of the law, even though not all of them, does fall under the enumerated head
of power Commonwealth Constitution s51 (i). Therefore the given Act is valid in terms of its
character, as it affects the trade and commerce of cannabis for the purpose of medicinal use.
Sufficient Connection with head of power: The third step in determining the validity of the
impugned law is to ask whether there is a sufficient connection with the head of power. That is how
close the connection is between the impugned law and the heads of power. Sufficient connection

close a connection needs to be? This is answered in Re Dingjan: Ex parte Wagner that "connection
need not be close, but must not be too 'insubstantial, tenuous or distant'. As in the given head of

never to be neglected in considering the extent of power conferred. Therefore in the given impugned

Essay On Being A Stage Manager
Next on my list was a regional stage manager, Ruth Kramer. Ruth is based out of New York,
however her last job was in Pittsburgh. As of right now Ruth is "between adventures" as she so
cheerfully put it. However, the last show she worked on was Equus. Equus was a big show, and the
hardest part was keeping the actors' safe. The men played horses, so they had horse masks and
hooves which made it difficult to see and walk around on stage. As for Ruth, the hardest part was
learning the text and material, because this show was about psychology so she had to research to
fully understand the production. Besides that, she said that everything else went well during the
show. However, her director decided to leave for a week instead of the 2 days ... Show more content

The longest she has been without work will be 4 months, which would be from this November to

committees she does not need a retail job while she is between jobs. She thinks if you cannot go a
few weeks or even months with our having a job than this is not a business you should be in. Ruth's
advice simply boiled down to you have to absolutely love it if you want to do it. She said this, "there
is influx of stage managers and an outflow of jobs". If you find out when you start you are not good,
do not do this as your job. And lastly if you choose to do this you have to be able to want to stage
manage anything. After talking to Ruth, it was put into perspective that I cannot have any doubts
about being a stage manager. My last interview was with a Halloween Horror Nights stage manager,
Madalyn Musser. Madalyn was an assistant stage manager on the Bill and Ted Show at Halloween
Horror Nights this past season. She also oversees certain sections of entertainment for holiday
events at Universal. She said the hardest part of working at Universal as a whole is the politics. The
environment is very competitive, you always have to do your best to be put on another event. The
easiest part is making great connections, because the more shows you work the more people will
recognize you. Madalyn, along with every other stage

This report aimed to make comparison between a successful and a less successful brand portfolio. I
have chosen Apple as a successful brand and Nokia as a less successful brand. Apple is a renowned
brand name all over the world, and the products of Apple are so popular among the electronics

U.S based company, and now by revenue it is the largest information technology company in the

Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne. On the other hand, the brand name of Nokia has lost its

In regards, to the size of the investment we would estimate that they should spend anywhere from
$550 million to $1 billion to startup their business in Switzerland. This is based off the fact that in
2007 they raised $750 million to invest in new middle markets in North America and Europe, and
they also raised $1 billion in a Gulf Opportunity Fund in 2013. These findings demonstrate how the
company was willing to raise and invest money because they see the significant return on
investment for their company. Additionally, in 2008 their tech fund actually put $500 million into
other tech firms to help them globalize. The fact that Investcorp currently manages approximately
$21.4 billion in assets, their tech has been able to gain twice (return of investment) of what the
company originally invested. Based on this information we can estimate the company can see a
return investment of $2 billion to $3 billion entering the Swiss market.
The corporate social responsibility for Investcorp is to assess and take responsibility for the
company 's effects on environmental and social well–being. Switzerland is one of the countries that
holds companies responsible for environmental well–being. The Swiss government imposes their
economic actors to assume their responsibilities towards society. This means that the government is

Edward Bernays 'Organizing Chaos'
Edward Bernays: From Propaganda, "Organizing Chaos", "The New Propaganda, and "The New

Bernays begins Propaganda by convincing the readers that there is some invisible power that
controls our thought. In the first chapter, "Organizing Chaos," the author implies the audience of his
book many times. First, he mentions, "The American voters soon found that without organization
and direction their individual votes . . . would produce nothing but confusion" (10). It shows that the
context is mainly in America and the audience are the American people in the time that the book was
published. Moreover, there is a long list of organizations or groups that show how people are

It is the purpose of this book to explain the structure of the mechanism which controls the public

for a particular idea or commodity (18).
Giving a brief summary of propaganda and stating the main intention of this book, the purpose of
the first chapter is to make the readers start thinking about propaganda which most of them have

Besides focusing in politics, there are some techniques used to engage the readers. For instance, the
first few paragraphs of this book sound like they are from a manifesto.

Analysis Of The Movie ' Broadway '
A war is fought on many fronts. The war front were the actually fighting takes place. The
government front were the stiff shirts fight politics. The home front were the people still at home
have to deal with the repercussions of war. And the public front were people still had to go about
their daily lives. This is where Broadway was born and raised. Broadway was just getting started in
the late 1860's so it was still a baby when World War One began. Broadway was loved by all and
people could go see their favorite shows, with their favorite actors for the low price of $1.50 or
$2.00. Before WWI Broadway was not really concerned with the outside world, but the war changed

and he is to this day the only person who was allowed to perform in union shows without an equity

best to help with the war, but WWI still changed the style of Broadway, and how it worked. In 1917
Dr. Frank Crane said, "The stage is not a nation's weakness, extravagance or undoing, but it is a
nation's deep refreshment that gives to the hearts and minds of a great people that spirit of courage
and light and adventure that is needed to achieve success in the arena of world conflict. (Atkinson,
1970)" Dr. Crane was more than right in his statement. Broadway was not taking away from the war,
or trying to shove it in a corner, acting, and hoping that it did not exist. They were embracing it, and
were helping the cause. During WWI Broadway was teeming with servicemen. To help those
coming to Broadway for the first time, information centers were set up all to help soldiers. These
centers would give soldiers information, such as what shows to go see in their short time in the city
(Atkinson, 1970). These soldiers would not stay in the city for long, but when they were there Time

Role Of Theatre And Musical Theatre
Theatre and Musical Theatre has been a form of entertainment since before North America was
"discovered". Broadway shows have been dated back to the early 1920's and 1930's. By 2016, over
25,000 tickets are sold to Broadway shows in a week. Thousands of people enjoy the shows that are
featured on Broadway but have no idea the work and process that brought it to life. The process of
getting a show on to Broadway can be broken down into three phases: pre–production, staging, and
performance/promotion. The first stage of a show is pre–production. Every show starts as merely an
idea. This idea can come from all kinds of sources. In the beginning, Broadway shows started one of
two ways; a producer who hired a creative team or a creative team who found a creative team to
back it. Nowadays, it is increasingly getting harder for songwriters, lyricists, etc. to get a show
produced. Contrary to popular belief, many writers send in just an idea and a brief excerpt when
trying to get produced. Hundreds of wannabe writers send their ideas to producers only to get a
rejection letter. Many composers don't fully commit to finishing writing a show until a producer has
committed. As American composer and songwriter, Cole Porter once said, "My sole inspiration is a
telephone call from a director." Whether it be an idea from a producer, a creative team, or an
unknown writer, there is no show without serious commitment from a producer. After a show has
been finished and has found a producer, it

George Frederickson State Of Social Equity

The State of Social Equity in American Public Administration. H. George Frederickson. National
Civic Review, winter 2005, pp. 31–38.
George Frederickson's article, "The State of Social Equity in American Public Administration,"
analyzes the evolution of social equity in American public administration, outlines examples of the
ever widening social equity gap, and charges public administrators to walk the talk about social
equity. In his thesis statement, Frederickson argues that available data suggest that despite the long
history of public administration and the enormous contribution it has made toward ensuring a more
equitable society, the American society has become less equal in the social, economic, and political

Frederickson aptly makes the connection between public administration and democracy and warns
of the grave consequences of treating the issue of social equity, which is central to these tenets
superficially. He warns that the foundation of democracy is threatened by a weak social equity
regime. It is the point that has caught my attention.
The author was able to draw a correlation between social equity and democracy. He argues, "If
disparities of participation and influence become further entrenched–and if average citizens give up
on democratic government–unequal citizenship could take on a life of its own, weakening American
democracy for a long time to come." With this assertion, the writer posits that societal inequality,
due to unequal citizenship is a direct threat to the survival of America's democracy. People who feel
left out of the system may develop apathetic attitudes toward their civic duties by staying out of

Strategic alliance always helps to keep pace with the growing competition and changing trends
within the market (Freeman 2010).
In recent years the importance of strategic alliance has grown rapidly as the organizations have felt
the need of keeping the hold over their respective market that seems to become extremely
competitive due to the rise of new entrants. Nowadays it has become a trend for different
multinational companies to increase and expand their business through effective strategic alliance.
Centrica Plc is a multinational utility company that has exceptionally strategized their alliances and
diversified their business all across UK and other countries. Nowadays the companies not only have
alliance with the other companies but also extend their alliances with the consumers, stake holders,
investors, suppliers, research centres and also with some universities. It can be said that the recent
strategic alliance is more complex in nature involving not only companies but also other resources
which are very important in regards to success. Present researches shows that with growing number
alliances have increased the opportunity of diversity have also increased. One of the common
determinants is the formal structure used to organize the cooperation. This topic has been the subject
of numerous researches and every time the alliance structure has been studied differently to analyse

Non Traditional Casting
One of the most prevalent racial issues in America today is the representation gap: in all realms of
society, from politics to music, there is scarcity of minorities in the public eye. As there has been in
other industries with a significant representation gap, Broadway is being pushed to diversify. This is
for two primary reasons: a social one, increasing representation of minorities and therefore
decreasing ignorance based racism in society, and an economic one, drawing in new, bigger
audiences by making productions more relatable to a more people. This has resulted in in
movements towards non–traditional and color–blind casting, or casting which disregards the
traditional race unless it is essential to the script.
However, this has faced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For any theatrical production to successfully entertain, it relies on suspension of disbelief. Giovanni
Frazzetto, in the peer reviewed journal Nature, writes, "In theater, suspension of disbelief hinges on
the switch between two realities– the set and the cast of actors, and the places and characters they
represent," (466). A show that intentionally creates a disconnect due to non–traditional casting could
potentially confuse an audience so they become to distracted to enjoy the show and suspend
disbelief. For example, a letter to the New York Times replying to the non–traditional casting of
Phylicia Rashad, an African American actor, shows a potential response to non–traditional casting:
"I am offended that Phylicia Rashad is playing a white woman's role in 'August: Osage County.' It
doesn't make sense that she would have white siblings and children. As brilliant as Ms. Rashad is,
the casting is off–kilter," (Fernandez). Producers, especially on Broadway where investments in a
show number in the millions, will logically make production decisions based on potential profits
(Bruinius). In an industry that traditionally has profited the most from Caucasian casts, it would take
a secondary motive to diversify or a belief that diversification is profitable for producers to regularly
use non–traditional

Essay about The Importance of Branding in Marketing
Literature Review
Since an increasing number of people focus on brand names instead of product, brands become
important elements for customers to choose products (Carroll, 2008). When customers trust the
brand, the benefits for the manufactures are generated. In the first place, brands can be used by
products as the tool to identify and differentiate themselves from various products. Secondly, brands
are helpful for companies to build a competitive advantage (Bick, 2009). Therefore, organisations
take more attention to branding.
Branding
Branding is a tool to make the goods of one producer different from another producer (Keller, 2003).

First of all, a strong brand can be seen as the condition for organisations to expand products, offer
more service, and introduce new products (Chernatony and McDonald, 2003). Secondly, a strong
brand can lead to growth marketing communication effectiveness (Keller, 2009). 'To build a strong
brand, the right knowledge structures must exist in the minds of actual or prospective customers so
that they respond positively to marketing activities and programs in these different ways.'(Keller,
2003, p. 140) Furthermore, Kay (2005) asserted that the strong brand can be seen as a resource of
management, which make brand extension easier and useful to build distribution network.
Companies are not treated by the intermediaries (Chernatony and McDonald, 2003). Moreover,
companies are comparatively easier to change price if they have strong brands. As Henderson, et al
(2003) said, a strong brand can allow for premium pricing even still remain loyalty customers,
which help companies to survive in the intensive competitive market.
In the fashion industry, fashion brands are highly associated with branding, because of the intensive
competitive fashion markets. Moreover, fashion brands are self–expressing to some extent (Carroll,
2008). Building creative brand image is important for the fashion brands. In addition, Carroll (2008)
said that social responsibility and potential risks are the two aspects related to the fashion brands.

We are able to foster a positive relationship between our brand and our target customers (salons) by
holding information nights and classes for salons to come in and try our new products. This
atmosphere will allow the customer to develop a more intimate relationship with the brand, and it
will also help builds customer loyalty through techniques learned for their businesses. By using our
own shampoo products for the demonstrations, it will build awareness and spread positive word of

Similarly, we can host public demonstrations in key fashion dominated districts/shopping malls.
This way we can spread brand awareness outside of our target customers and deliver our positive

Customer–Based Brand Equity for Global Brands: A Multinational Approach
Eda Atilgan Serkan Akinci Safak Aksoy Erdener Kaynak
ABSTRACT. Focusing on the dimensions and measurement, this study is based on the concept of
brand equity for global brands with empirical evidence from three economically and culturally
dissimilar countries–USA, Turkey, and Russia. The brand equity for global brands can be measured
under four basic dimensions: perceived quality, brand loyalty, brand associations, and brand trust.
Emergence of brand trust as a new dimension instead of brand awareness complies ... Show more

Although it is apparent that customer–based brand equity has multiple dimensions, there is no
general agreement in current marketing literature as to the nature and content of these dimensions.
Previous research has proposed two (e.g., Faircloth, Capella, & Alford, 2001; Keller, 1993), three
(e.g., Han & Collins, 2002; Netemeyer et al., 2004), four (e.g., Aaker, 1991; Yoo et al., 2000), five
(e.g., Lassar, Mittal, & Sharma, 1995), and even eight (e.g., Vazquez, Del Rio, & Iglesias, 2002)
dimensions. However, many of these brand equity dimensions have not been systematically
measured or validated within a nomological framework (Netemeyer et al., 2004). For example, the
existence and function of trust have not been fully investigated within the context of brand equity.
On the globalization front, branding has received increasing attention from marketing academicians.
The two prominent reasons for this are increased cross–border population mobility and electronic
mobility, both of which
contributed to faster transfer of ideas and a global convergence in consumer tastes and values
(Quelch, 1999). Global brands, as defined by Aaker and Joachimsthaler (1999), are those brands
whose positioning, advertising strategy, personality, look, and feel are in most respects the same
from one country to another. Reviewing the top 10 global brands, Quelch identified

The Pros And Cons Of Hollywood Actors
Hollywood actors are seen as glamorous and admired by many. The conditions we see now are of
flamboyant actresses/actors with demands of: special drinking water; room decor; scented candles;
special food; and the list goes on and on. If these demands are not met you hear of temper tantrums
and refusals to stay at hotels and other establishments ever again. The salaries of top actors and
actresses are posted on the internet and magazines for all to see. A list actors can make tens of
millions, per movie and series actors bring in tens of thousands to a million, per episode. With this
information our there for all to see, you would assume there would be no need for unions, in
Hollywood. After all, unions are best known for their work in factories, where blue collar workers
request better pay, secure jobs, and benefits (O.C. Ferrell, G.A. Hirt & L. Ferrell, 2014). Hollywood
has not always been so glamorous, and in fact less than a century ago working conditions were not
as they are today. Actors/actresses could be bound by a contract for one studio. The studio "owned
the artists" and other studios would not work with an actor, after their contracts had dissolved
(Ferrell et al., 2014 p. 320). This made it hard to debate any issues with the studios. Actors in the
early 20th century faced long work days, low pay, and unsafe working environments. The "Actors

management and communication to subsidiaries.(Scullion H and Starkey 2000) Factors to be
considered while framing policies MNCs set up subsidiaries or joint ventures in different countries.
MNCs should mainly consider the legal practices, minimum wages, Labour market regulations, the
culture, industrial relations systems, the character of country's welfare system and the cross– country
differences for framing the policies. MNCs may choose to adapt the environment in the host country
or develop policies based on the customs and practices of the home countries. The challenge for the
HRM will be to consider all these while framing the policies and helping the company to achieve
profits in that country. Even though HRM considers all these factors, MNCs are so powerful, that
they bargain for the investment decisions in the country and also actively participate in lobbying for
institutional changes according to their preference.(Anne –Wil Harzing 2011).For example, MNCs
in Europe take parts in lobbying at European Union Level so that it will be favourable for MNCs in
regard with changes made in EU regulations. (Coen 1997). The minimum wages may differ from
country to country. It is essential that minimum wages, paid holidays/ annual leave should be
considered in line with the practices prevailing in that country. Trade Union activities and collective
bargaining are other indicators, which bring out the employment differences in countries. These
cannot be linked to each. For

A web article to read for university personnel based on the roadmap for brands to stay tough and
going in the competitive environment INTRODUCTION

young people, it is not buying a pair of jeans, but buying GAP or Tommy Hilfiger or Levis. As per
the article in Business Week (Wechsler, 1997, p. 64) this "barrages of brand names offers the
irresistible promise of instant cool." ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nontraditional Casting
Nontraditional Casting
Nontraditional casting is also known as colour–blind casting and integrated casting. Non–traditional
casting is defined as the casting of ethnic minority and female actors in roles where race, ethnicity,
or sex is not considered. Watching Hollywood movies, there is much diversity in a movie depending
on what the genre is. Hollywood looks for actors that fit the physical and talent description directors
are looking for. Hollywood work with what they only have, not based on color. Hollywood actually
takes advantage of the multicultural world. If they need an African American, American Asian,
Indian, Mexican actor they'll scout out for the ones they desire. It's true that majority of movies and
TV shows are Caucasian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only are those actors being discriminated but directors are also denying their talents as
performers. The Non–Traditional Casting Project recognized and stated that Deaf culture is an
important part of our national heritage and cultural legacy that should be reflected accurately on our
stages and screens and shared with a broad spectrum of the American public.
This book focuses on diversity that links between many people in American society. Adalberto
Aguirre, Jr., specializes in race critical theory, race and ethnic relations, and equity issues in higher
education for women and minority faculty. His published works include American Ethnicity: The
Dynamics and Consequences of Discrimination, Women and Minority Faculty in the Academic
Workplace. In this book, Adalberto has separated each chapter with different nations. For example,
Chapter 1 Early America, Chapter 2 The Spanish Exploration in North America, Chapter 3 The
European Immigrants in North America...etc. Adalberto pretty much provided a 'comparative
analysis of the major racial and ethnic populations that shaped diversity in early American society
and into the 21st century.' It's interesting to read how each culture suffers from different things
during the same time spam. This book answers "how race and ethnicity help shape contemporary
American society and what forces fuel

Ethical Theories of Nursing
When a person meets the unfortunate circumstance of being admitted to a hospital for an illness they
are depending on healthcare personnel to have their best interest in mind and make them better.
When people think of who it is taking care of them and making them better they specifically think of
Doctors and Nurses. As Doctors and more specifically Registered Nurses it is their duty to have a
client's best interest in mind and always act in their benefit. This raises the question, what guides
Nurses to maintain this mindset of always putting the patient first? The answer is their ethical duty,
meaning every nurse is guided by ethical theories and principles which help guide them as a patient
advocate. It is these ethics that make a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Privacy and Confidentiality is relating to maintaining the security of a patient's information and only
sharing that information on a need–to–know basis with other healthcare members involved with that
patients care and act to prevent breaches of confidentiality. Veracity as a word is associated with
truthfulness. In nursing it is a duty to disclose pertinent information and the obligation to respect
confidentiality at the same time. This means giving truthful information about the risks of a
procedure while still respecting the patient's confidentiality. These are the main principles of ethics
as far as it pertains to nursing and knowing this information is vital to understanding ethical theories
and how to better apply them as a practicing nurse. As mentioned earlier some of the Ethical
theories are Consequentialism, Deontology, Ethical Relativism, Teleology, Virtue ethics, and Justice
and equity. It is important for Nurses to understand the definition of each of these, as well as how to
apply them, and how it benefits the patient. It is pivotal for nurses because it will ensure that they
are preforming their jobs and duties with the highest regard to patient advocacy and maintain the
ethics which nursing is based on.
Consequentialism, also referred to as utilitarianism, seems simple enough to understand as the word
"consequence" is evident. Consequentialist ethics refers to the idea that the correct moral response is

How Broadway Has Changed The Economy, Tourism, And...
We are living in the excesses of freedom. Just take a look at 42nd Street and Broadway.
Broadway has evolved tremendously since its opening, from more theatres to a larger audience. A
numerous amount of plays have been performed that have left unforgettable memories on everyone.
Broadway has made major effective impacts on the economy, tourism, and entertainment industry.
In 1750 when Walter Murray and Thomas Kean decided to open their theatre company on Nassau
Street, is when the origin of Broadway began. Their theatre was only large enough to hold 280
audience members and mostly put on ballad operas and Shakespearian plays because he was popular
during that time. Musicals and theatre moved to Broadway in the middle of the century ... Show

Broadway began getting more known in 1882 when a family named the Mallory's decided to build
the Madison Square Theatre. Nobody but themselves believed it would remain successful because
they had built it on 29th street which was far out of town where most tourists and business was
located. But to their advantage other attractive entertainment started being built in that section, like
The Casino Theatre, the Abby Theatre, and the Empire Theatre. Since there was so much
entertainment it just attracted everyone to go out of Manhattan. Throughout the years they have
managed to build 39 official Broadway Theatres. They also offer Off–Broadway shows which are
shows that take place in small theatre that consist of 200–500 seats that will cost you less than watch
a show at a Broadway Theatre. Due to the low prices Off– Broadway shows have decreased and if
something is not done soon to increase the popularity again, they might just get taken out forever.
During the 1900's Broadway was viewed by mainly middle class people who were searching for a
date night, some excitement, and some soothing music. Since it wasn't taken so seriously by the
public, the best seats in the theatre valued from $1.50 to $2.00. Compared to the prices of today,
back then they practically paid a penny. This all is due to the cost of maintenance that they had now
in comparison to the price of

9 Ways To Increase Profits For Your Creative Business Case...

  • 1. 9 Ways To Increase Profits For Your Creative Business Case... 9 Ways to Increase Profits for Your Creative Business The difficult thing to cope with for creatives in business is maximizing profits. When you strike out on your own there's a lot of excitement about the freedom you will have to create and operate on your own terms. Unfortunately, this can go downhill quick when you don't have the business nous to back up your creative instincts. So, how can you increase profits for your creative business and ensure your continued success? We've put together nine ways to get you through the more challenging times (and even maximise your profits when things are going well). 1. Your Time Counts So, do bill your hours. There's this thought process in the creative world that you bill for the work that's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Think about how you can turn this into an investment. Find a neighbourhood that will increase in value and add value to the property. You'll also have assets (furniture, artwork, vehicles, computers, etc.) that count to your balance sheet – these can be sold to generate revenue if necessary. 5. Leasing If you're just starting out and you don't have the money to purchase a workspace, then leasing may be your best option. Alternatively, if you have already purchased a workspace there may be room for you to lease to another creative type and earn extra income to help pay the mortgage as well as other overheads. 6. Producing Your Own Products & Services You're a creative so you are constantly coming up with new and wonderful ideas, whether they apply to specific projects or are inspired elsewhere. Your offering be a physical product, an idea, a service that you offer, or even regular events on your expert subjects. Anything can be monetised when there's a market for it. 7. Side Hustle You can operate a side business with no relevance to your main business to provide yourself with a much–needed boost in profits. It will require more time and effort, and employees... but if you get in on the act with someone else as opposed to being the main operator you have a new source of revenue.

At this nascent stage, a spectrum of intermediaries: government, private sector, innovative foundations and service providers, as well as the end impact investors/funds, all play a part in the growth of this sector. Currently, there is a wide divide in the landscape of social enterprise finance. On one side, much of the available supply of impact investment capital is seeking a "sweet spot" where attractive financial returns combine with positive social, economic or environmental impact. Meanwhile, there is an unmet demand from social enterprises that are operationally and structurally ready to absorb financial support (Stanford Social Innovation Review, Spring 2014). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Intermediaries in this sector can be categorized into three distinct buckets: 1. Funders: These are innovative foundations, philanthropists and high net–worth individuals who have the capacity to be first movers as well as provide grant and first loss capital during the early stages of the social enterprise. This group not only brings funding to the sector, but can also help investees with technical assistance in the form of operational and organizational capacity, and access to their networks. Through their actions they can help the enterprise to become financial viable and scale its operations. They can also harness and influence non–traditional sources of capital, such as venture capital and private equity for investment in the sector. Example: The F.B. Heron foundation is an innovative foundation in the United States that is playing a significant role in the development of the impact investing sector. In their 2011 Foundation Strategy, F.B. Heron declared a move to deploy all their assets towards mission. Over the past three years, F.B. Heron has evolved from a solely grant– making approach, to making a combination of grants and investments in the form of patient capital. Patient capital is generally defined as an investment in an early–stage enterprise that can provide both a social as well as a financial return. F.B. Heron is making program–related investments ... One of the largest failures in financial services was the 2008 collapse and bankruptcy of 158–year–old Lehman Brothers. Bear Stearns, Merrill Lynch, and Lehman Brothers had poor credit risks and loose liquidity requirements as did most companies during this period. The difficulties in the housing market led to an aggressive number of mortgage defaults and created a catastrophic scenario. The financial services model needs repair, and the enactment of the Jumpstart Our Business Act (JOBS Act) signals a new era of alternative financing. • 11. Issue Brief On Net Neutrality Issue Brief on Net Neutrality Background Information The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which is a formal policy actor (Kraft and Furlong, (2015), has faced numerous challenges in resolving the difficulties involving Net Neutrality. Jamison and Layton state that "In 2005, FCC adopted an Internet Policy Statement consisting of four consumer–centric guiding principles, also referred to as the Four Freedoms to ensure that broadband networks are widely deployed, open, affordable, and accessible to all consumers. When the agency attempted to apply these rules in 2008, the DC Circuit rejected the FCC's decision on jurisdictional grounds. These principles could have been successful if the FCC could have administered this policy. In 2010, the FCC's second attempt was a light–handed, multistakeholder approach for addressing net neutrality issues. In 2014, the DC Court again reversed the FCC on jurisdictional grounds (Jamison & Layton, 2016). Problem There are four serious problems regarding US net neutrality policy to date. One is a market muddle problem that offers the same level of internet services while disregarding the differences in competition, geography, customer type, services, etc. These actions result in hindering advancements by causing undue analysis and aggressive injunctions on positive consumer protection services. The next problem is an overkill problem because net neutrality rules force internet service providers from offering service features. Providers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction Extreme weathers, such as storm, floods, heat waves, drought, glacial retreat, have suffered human– being and threaten the life, properties and economies for a long time. In recent years, a significant increase is observed in the extreme weathers, such as the number of heavy precipitation events, more intense and longer drought/heat waves as a consequence of anthropogenic influences (IPCC, 2011). In particular, intensification of extreme precipitation is likely to lead extreme coastal high water associated with an increase in mean sea level. On the other hand, there might be positive results from global warming, such as improved agriculture in some high latitude regions (Mendelsohn, 2006), but economic losses from weather– ... Unsurprisingly, private insurance would avoid the financial loss and withdraw its coverage of vulnerable areas. However, insurance mechanism can bring various benefits in terms of loss and damage associated with natural disasters and increasing efforts for equity in the industry in the world. I shall illustrate the benefits of insurance mechanism and a wide range of activities that the industry has worked on, and the potential of a contribution to the international aid programme as a challenge in the future. 2. There are a wide range of surrounding risks in activities for individual and companies, such as government finance regulations, ISO certification, IT security, compliance, increasing in natural disasters and infectious diseases, and so on. A failure of the risk management could cause a huge financial loss, a bankrupt or a degradation in the reliability. Therefore, the world has invented various risk management mechanisms. There are three main existing risk management schemes to guarantee to meet specified costs for individual, companies or organizations (Freeman and Kunreuther, 1997). • 15. Varieties of Capitalism Essay Introduction Due to the rapid process of globalization, the issue of whether socio–economic institutions and policies are converging or diverging across different nations has become controversial. Various literatures on comparative institutional studies has been developed, in which the Varieties of Capitalism approach by Hall and Soskice (2001) is one of the most significant concepts that is being widely discussed. According to Hall and Thelen (2005), the 'varieties of capitalism' is a firm– centered approach where firm is placed as a key actor and is being considered relational. It emphasizes the concept of institutional complementarities, which '...one set of institutions is complementary to another when its presence raises the returns ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Institutional Complementarities The concept of institutional complementarities revolves around the notion of the idea that 'the co– existence (within a given system) of two or more institutions mutually enhances the performance contribution of each individual institution' (Deeg, 2007. P.611). Hopner (2005) argued that the idea of complementary implies that different spheres of institutions could only be combined in a number of ways in order to be effective, which enhanced the theory of the existence of various types of capitalisms. Hall and Soskice (2001) identified these differences in the varieties of capitalism literature and then classified economies into liberal market economies and coordinated market economies, each with its unique institutional complementarities. The United Kingdom representing LME Under the VoC framework, economies of various nations are mainly being classified into either liberal market economies or coordinated market economies. According to Deeg and Jackson (2008), market competitions and hierarchies are the main ways for firms to coordinate activities with other spheres in liberal market economies. • 19. Music as a Stress Reliever They say music is one of the biggest stress relievers while acting gives you a chance to engulf yourself into a character and be someone else for a change. Together these two create Musical Theater, possibly one of the best two combinations known to man. Musical Theater is a worldwide form of entertainment that has been around since ancient times and exhibits emotion through a series of acts which include singing, dancing and scripted acting. Different areas of the world follow unique storylines which are relevant to their past and current events. The beginning of Musical Theater dates back to ancient times and originates mainly from the Romans, Greeks and Natya Shastas and interestingly enough, it also dates back to The Harlem Renaissance Era. In the third BC Roman comedies began to include dance and music. The Romans attached metal slabs to the bottom of their shoes helping them to dance better. These shoes were called Sabilla shoes which now have evolved into tap shoes. In the fifth BC ancient Greeks followed in the Romans footsteps by including dance and music into their theatrical plays. PARAGRAPH ABOUT ROMAN RENAISSANCE ERA Later in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, religious dramas with chants and poetic lines transformed slowly into musicals as they began to add music into the dramas. In the 1700s ballad and comic operas, which were considered early Musicals, grew in popularity throughout Britain, France and Germany (TheatricalMusical.com). While Musicals ... The first of which is "Waiting for Guffman", a mockumentary on the beginning of a theater company in Blaine, Missouri. The town's resident director, Corky St. Clair, and the amateur cast of a corny small–town musical production go overboard when they hear that Mr. Guffman, representative of the prestigious New York based Oppenheimer Organization, will be in attendance. It is tough to not be your biggest critic, but it is better to leave that job to others. Also, actors should treat auditions like rehearsals, as if you already have the role and are going to rehearsal. Apparently this is a commonly used tactic that many actors use to keep calm in an audition setting. Another tip was that if you risk failure, you can make truthful discoveries about yourself or a character. Failures become the struggles that lead to success; the word, failure, carries more weight than it should, and most failures are actually setbacks. The only time you truly fail is when you quit because you become incapable of success. The final piece of advice that I found helpful was to find other creative outlets. In a field like acting, the majority of the job is going to auditions and waiting. Therefore, it becomes imperative that you find ways to use your creativity, rather than waiting around for someone to give you a part. According to Ang (2014), Integrated Marketing Communications is defined as a research–based, audience–focused, communication planning process that aims to execute a brand communication program over time and this is achieved by coordinating different communication disciplines and integrating the creative content across different media. The aim is to achieve short–term financial gain and long–term brand equity. Since IMC is all about using different Media vehicles, the most effective one is Television; such as Reality television shows which has many benefits and contributions especially when it comes to creating a successful brand. There are two reality television shows that has been analysed from the first part of this assignment and they are: Keeping up with the Kardashians and My Kitchen Rules, which I will then discuss how it relates to branding. Brand equity is important to create and maintain as it is an intangible asset of added value as well as goodwill that will then result from the favourable image, impressions of differentiation and the strength of consumer attachment to brand name, company name or trademark. The stronger the equity the better it positions the company as well as its brand which is only often reinforced through advertising or even sponsoring. For example, Breville appliances command good quality kitchen appliances and represents higher price than the other brands as it is being used by the contestants of My Kitchen Rules. The Howard Liberal Government introduced the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in 2000, as part of the A New Tax System (ANTS). In a radio interview, former PM John Howard explained his preference for minimal exemption and the necessity to pass the bill through senate required the government to negotiate with the Australian Democrats (Reynold 2000). Broadening the base of GST will also be compared to raising the rate of GST. Current Policy Analysis and Evaluation: When evaluating our current system, the difficulty to isolate effects of the GST from the other changes in tax in ANTS shouldn't be underestimated (Valadkhani 2005). Former treasurer, Peter Costello (2010), points out how the introduction of the GST was used to replace existing wholesale sales taxes, and coincided with the removal of other inefficient state taxes and duties, and a personal income tax rate cut. To address concerns for lower income earners, the government simplified the family benefits program and provided private health insurance premium rebates (Costello 2010). Although perceived as a regressive tax, the combination of the GST (and compensation for equity) and progressive income tax, resulted in a relatively balanced redistribution system for the period between 1994–2002 (Warren, Harding & Lloyd 2005 cited in Nguyen 2016, p. 108). GST tends to considered by economists as one of the more efficient revenue raising tax (Nguyen 2016). Internationally and domestically, there is a push by economists to shift the tax mix towards consumption taxes away from the more distortive income and company tax (CPAAustralia 2015; OECD 2014). Besides focusing in politics, there are some techniques used to engage the readers. For instance, the first few paragraphs of this book sound like they are from a manifesto. The home front were the people still at home have to deal with the repercussions of war. And the public front were people still had to go about their daily lives. This is where Broadway was born and raised. Broadway was just getting started in the late 1860's so it was still a baby when World War One began. Broadway was loved by all and people could go see their favorite shows, with their favorite actors for the low price of $1.50 or $2.00. The war had a huge effect on the world, Broadway included; Broadway did its best to help with the war, but WWI still changed the style of Broadway, and how it worked. In 1917 Dr. Frank Crane said, "The stage is not a nation's weakness, extravagance or undoing, but it is a nation's deep refreshment that gives to the hearts and minds of a great people that spirit of courage and light and adventure that is needed to achieve success in the arena of world conflict. They were embracing it, and were helping the cause. During WWI Broadway was teeming with servicemen. To help those coming to Broadway for the first time, information centers were set up all to help soldiers. • 52. Role Of Theatre And Musical Theatre Theatre and Musical Theatre has been a form of entertainment since before North America was "discovered". Broadway shows have been dated back to the early 1920's and 1930's. By 2016, over 25,000 tickets are sold to Broadway shows in a week. Thousands of people enjoy the shows that are featured on Broadway but have no idea the work and process that brought it to life. The process of getting a show on to Broadway can be broken down into three phases: pre–production, staging, and performance/promotion. The first stage of a show is pre–production. Every show starts as merely an idea. This idea can come from all kinds of sources. In the beginning, Broadway shows started one of two ways; a producer who hired a creative team or a creative team who found a creative team to back it. Nowadays, it is increasingly getting harder for songwriters, lyricists, etc. to get a show produced. Contrary to popular belief, many writers send in just an idea and a brief excerpt when trying to get produced. Hundreds of wannabe writers send their ideas to producers only to get a rejection letter. Many composers don't fully commit to finishing writing a show until a producer has committed. As American composer and songwriter, Cole Porter once said, "My sole inspiration is a telephone call from a director." Whether it be an idea from a producer, a creative team, or an unknown writer, there is no show without serious commitment from a producer. After a show has been finished and has found a producer, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

George Frederickson's article, "The State of Social Equity in American Public Administration," analyzes the evolution of social equity in American public administration, outlines examples of the ever widening social equity gap, and charges public administrators to walk the talk about social equity. In his thesis statement, Frederickson argues that available data suggest that despite the long history of public administration and the enormous contribution it has made toward ensuring a more equitable society, the American society has become less equal in the social, economic, and political life ... The author was able to draw a correlation between social equity and democracy. He argues, "If disparities of participation and influence become further entrenched–and if average citizens give up on democratic government–unequal citizenship could take on a life of its own, weakening American democracy for a long time to come." Non Traditional Casting One of the most prevalent racial issues in America today is the representation gap: in all realms of society, from politics to music, there is scarcity of minorities in the public eye. As there has been in other industries with a significant representation gap, Broadway is being pushed to diversify. This is for two primary reasons: a social one, increasing representation of minorities and therefore decreasing ignorance based racism in society, and an economic one, drawing in new, bigger audiences by making productions more relatable to a more people. This has resulted in in movements towards non–traditional and color–blind casting, or casting which disregards the traditional race unless it is essential to the script. However, this has faced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For any theatrical production to successfully entertain, it relies on suspension of disbelief. Giovanni Frazzetto, in the peer reviewed journal Nature, writes, "In theater, suspension of disbelief hinges on the switch between two realities– the set and the cast of actors, and the places and characters they represent," (466). A show that intentionally creates a disconnect due to non–traditional casting could potentially confuse an audience so they become to distracted to enjoy the show and suspend disbelief. For example, a letter to the New York Times replying to the non–traditional casting of Phylicia Rashad, an African American actor, shows a potential response to non–traditional casting: "I am offended that Phylicia Rashad is playing a white woman's role in 'August: Osage County.' It doesn't make sense that she would have white siblings and children. As brilliant as Ms. Rashad is, the casting is off–kilter," (Fernandez). Producers, especially on Broadway where investments in a show number in the millions, will logically make production decisions based on potential profits (Bruinius). In an industry that traditionally has profited the most from Caucasian casts, it would take a secondary motive to diversify or a belief that diversification is profitable for producers to regularly use non–traditional ... Essay about The Importance of Branding in Marketing Literature Review Since an increasing number of people focus on brand names instead of product, brands become important elements for customers to choose products (Carroll, 2008). When customers trust the brand, the benefits for the manufactures are generated. In the first place, brands can be used by products as the tool to identify and differentiate themselves from various products. Secondly, brands are helpful for companies to build a competitive advantage (Bick, 2009). Therefore, organisations take more attention to branding. 'To build a strong brand, the right knowledge structures must exist in the minds of actual or prospective customers so that they respond positively to marketing activities and programs in these different ways.'(Keller, 2003, p. 140) Furthermore, Kay (2005) asserted that the strong brand can be seen as a resource of management, which make brand extension easier and useful to build distribution network. Companies are not treated by the intermediaries (Chernatony and McDonald, 2003). Moreover, companies are comparatively easier to change price if they have strong brands. In the fashion industry, fashion brands are highly associated with branding, because of the intensive competitive fashion markets. Although it is apparent that customer–based brand equity has multiple dimensions, there is no general agreement in current marketing literature as to the nature and content of these dimensions. Previous research has proposed two (e.g., Faircloth, Capella, & Alford, 2001; Keller, 1993), three (e.g., Han & Collins, 2002; Netemeyer et al., 2004), four (e.g., Aaker, 1991; Yoo et al., 2000), five (e.g., Lassar, Mittal, & Sharma, 1995), and even eight (e.g., Vazquez, Del Rio, & Iglesias, 2002) dimensions. However, many of these brand equity dimensions have not been systematically measured or validated within a nomological framework (Netemeyer et al., 2004). For example, the existence and function of trust have not been fully investigated within the context of brand equity. On the globalization front, branding has received increasing attention from marketing academicians. The two prominent reasons for this are increased cross–border population mobility and electronic mobility, both of which contributed to faster transfer of ideas and a global convergence in consumer tastes and values (Quelch, 1999). Case Study : Management And Communication Essay management and communication to subsidiaries.(Scullion H and Starkey 2000) Factors to be considered while framing policies MNCs set up subsidiaries or joint ventures in different countries. MNCs should mainly consider the legal practices, minimum wages, Labour market regulations, the culture, industrial relations systems, the character of country's welfare system and the cross– country differences for framing the policies. MNCs may choose to adapt the environment in the host country or develop policies based on the customs and practices of the home countries. The challenge for the HRM will be to consider all these while framing the policies and helping the company to achieve profits in that country. Even though HRM considers all these factors, MNCs are so powerful, that they bargain for the investment decisions in the country and also actively participate in lobbying for institutional changes according to their preference.(Anne –Wil Harzing 2011).For example, MNCs in Europe take parts in lobbying at European Union Level so that it will be favourable for MNCs in regard with changes made in EU regulations.
