The first column is the Hazardous Activity ColumnIn our example the hazardous activity selected is “Grinding.” The second column is called “Work-related exposure to”Thiscolumn tells us what type of hazard exposure the Hazardous Activity could cause. The work-related exposure for grinding is “flying particles.” The next questions is..Can the hazard be eliminated without PPE?In the case of using the grinder, the hazard cannot be eliminated without using PPE so the answer is NO.If not, required PPE…is the next statement If the employee cannot be protected by mechanical means then, PPE is required. In this case, “Safety Glasses.”Once this assessment is complete your foot is firmly nailed to the floor. You know what you must provide.
