The Battle with Nividia and Amd
anonymous axolotl hour 8 edited by Title
The battle between Nividia and Amd has been waging sence 1993. Which company has the best
gpu? Which company provides the best gaming experiance? well thats exactly what this paper is
about. this paper states that the nividia genforce gtx 780 ti provides a better gaming experiance than
the amd radieon r9 290 x. these two cards currently (as of december of 2013) are the best cards for
gaming that money can buy. also it is stated that all benchmarks temperature tests, and fps counts
are done with the same cpu, motherboard, ram, psu, and cooling technology. So lets end this battle
once and for all.
first, lets discuss CUDA cores and shader units. These are both practicly the same thing, just from
diffent companys. CUDA stands for compute unifies device achitecture ( Nividia 3). these powerful
units can be manipulated for any of your graphical needs. they can process images in ultra high
resolutions, or even work together to make a super realistic phisics engine. (hint: look in paragraph 5
for more information on that). for the number people out ther the Gtx 780 ti has 2880 CUDA cores(
newegg 10). Also the R9 290x has 2880 shader units (newegg is measured in 10). so as you can see
there isnt any diffences in power there. next, lets talk about clock speeds. clocks speeds are basicly
how fast your gpu can use its hardware to pocess the graphics in your game. the clock speed of a
graphics card id measured in mhz. a mhz is 1 million hz.

Personal Statement
I started my career in an unorthodox way: delivering science and technology news directly to live
audiences from a stage. I was an early member of the experimental Current Science &
Technology Center at Boston's Museum of Science, an effort to bring cutting edge science to adult
members of the public through extended interactions with science journalists in an informal
education setting.
I was fortunate enough to work alongside a graduate of the Columbia University School of
Journalism, a former producer for NOVA, the current executive director of the National
Association of Science Writers, and other highly skilled science communicators. I considered these
people my journalism professors, and worked with them to develop the skills ... Show more content

I planned the episodes, booked guests, and served as host, producer, and editor of the show,
interviewing researchers, explorers, and inventors from a wide variety of disciplines. A year after
launching the show, it was awarded the American Association of Museum's 2007 Gold Muse
Award, the top honor granted for teaching and outreach by one of the largest museum associations in
the world. In all, I conducted roughly 150 interviews for podcasts or video during my time at the
museum, and dozens more during live presentations.
While I was at the Museum of Science, I started Boston Behind the Scenes, my own independent
podcast profiling ordinary and extraordinary people around the Boston area. This is a human–
interest interview show that introduces the audience to local people, from street vendors to
newspaper editors. Through work on that podcast, I became involved in an iPod–based documentary
tour project. This allowed me the financial freedom to begin working full–time as a freelance new
media journalist and producer.
The two most prominent positions I have assumed recently are as host, producer, and editor of new
media programs for the education division of Nature and for the Journal of the National
Cancer Institute. The first, for Nature, is a biweekly video series called Simply

classroom incorporates characteristics from both the tradtional and the online classroom. In the
ideal, hybrid courses offer educators the best of both worlds Hybrid Classrooms are able to have
access to the Internet in order to enhance the learning process. Students have the benefit of having
both face–to–face interactions along with having assignments available to them online at anytime.(

approach to teaching. That is only of the major aspect that is discussed about when talking about

How Technology Has Impacted Education
Introduction
Education is defined as 'the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing
the powers of reasoning and judgement, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually
for mature life.' A good education leads to knowledge, career progression, enlightenment and helps a
nation progress, as John F. Kennedy said; "Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our
progress in education. The human mind is our fundamental resource." The introduction of
technology in education has impacted education both for good and bad. According to the Oxford
dictionary, Technology is; 'machinery and devices that are developed from scientific knowledge to
increase or better, everyday functions.' Technology used in education, is part of a large debate over
whether it is improving educational outcomes in students. Some say technology is revolutionizing
education for the better, and others say it is a trend that offer/s no specific improvements to
education. Although technology can never replace a good quality teacher, the advantages and
benefits of technology, positively supplements a bridge between education and the technological
world, hence offers students the marketable job skills they need in order to satisfy in the evolving
technological world.
Relevant interviews and surveys were conducted, to discover peoples understanding of technology.

Technology in Life
In the past people have difficult life because of many things and technology is one of them .As we
know, technology is very important in our life for many reasons, it makes life easy, save the time
and improve the quality . Day to day we see new technology and suitable for everyone , so no thing
stay as it is.If we aske old man or woman will know how they suffered because of having poor of
technology. In the future many types of technology will change and comes with new ideas. That is
whey every country takes care of the technology. Oman is also go ahead for this and it want to be
the best. In this project I will talk about the future of technology in Oman and how it will be
effective .
when we talk about technology ,that means we human are talking about something that made the life
of easy and us do a lot of things in a short time . so my point is technology is too important in this

inventions by support the students. If we do this plan, we will have great strong technology in
future. That what we really want, strong future by technology. So we have to start the plan right
now.

How Technology Has Changed Our Lives
In our ever–evolving world, we have seen the emergence of technology in all aspects of our lives.
People use technology as a form of entertainment, as a tool to help them communicate with other
people, to help them monitor their health and as a tool to help them enhance their work. When out in
public, it is common to see numerous people using some form of technologic device. While at the
mall, it is common to see people talking on their phones, texting people or posting on their social
network sites. At a doctor's offices you will likely see people playing on their tablets or using their
cell phones, and it is even common practice to see these devices being used by people who are
working out at the gym. Although technology has been embraced in many areas of society, there are
still some areas that resist it. Oliver, Osa & Walker explain that "While society in general has
embraced 21st century technology innovations for daily living, a gap remains in the understanding
of appropriate uses for technology in the learning environment (Banister & Ross, 2006)" (2012).
Unfortunately, instructional technologies have not been utilized to their full potential.
The focus of this essay is to show that instructional technologies should be integrated into the
classroom because when they are used appropriately, they can have a positive impact on student
achievement. Throughout this essay the ideas of leading advocates of integrating technology into the
classroom will be discussed. These

Components Of Building A Gaming Pc
My topic of interest this week is learning about a few components involved in building a gaming
PC. I believe this is a great topic for me as my intended professional goal is to become a video game
developer. Where would a professional game developer, like myself, be without a proper gaming
PC. Plus, I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to share my passion. I have owned
many gaming consoles, PC's, and Mac's over the years. If you are a true gamer, you will already
know which platform is the best for you. Gaming consoles like the PS4 or XBOX ONE, while a
great source for gaming entertainment are, "cheaper because they do not have a graphics card,
instead they have an APU which is the GPU and CPU combined." (The Geeky Kids ... Show more

They also have the lowest number of developed games between all the platforms. So now I'm
thinking why can't I have both a iMac and gaming PC? Well, after doing some research, I think
having both might actually be a strong possibility for me. Now getting into the main portion of my
topic why PC is the best for gaming. First off, PC's use only a GPU, allowing this item to be
upgraded while advancements in technology take place. This, in turn, allows a PC to have full
access to incredible graphics, giving the gamer a higher level gaming experience. There are three
primary components that are the foundations to building a great PC, "they are the central processing
unit (CPU), also called a processor, the video card and memory (RAM)." (Bellerophon08, 2013)
You will find many different brands and styles, such as an AMD FX 8350 AM3+ 4.0Ghz (CPU) or a
Kingston HyperX blu 1600mhz 2x4GB (RAM). They all depend on what suits your individual
needs and budget. One of the most exiting components I get to talk about, is the motherboard. Just
like its title this is what brings all the components together in harmony. One interesting fact I didn't
know, but was crucial to the proper function of a PC, is a motherboard socket type. Seeing as they
are not interchangeable, you need to make sure you know what CPU you are investing in, as you are
unable to mix and match a motherboard and CPU brand. For example, if you

Analysis Of 2015 Advanced Micro Devices
Introduction
In 2015 Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) was in a difficult position. The once formidable
competitor in multiple facets of the personal computer market had seen its strong profits turn
negative and its debt totals rise. The company was finding it difficult to compete across multiple
markets with due to a number of factors. The most important of which was a series of weak product
offerings, which created a larger gap in the quality of AMD's products when compared with the
competition.
AMD had once held large market shares in both the CPU (central processing unit) and GPU
(graphics processing unit) markets. Each of these products combine in the personal computer to
allow users to take on more demanding tasks such as video editing, ... Show more content on

IBM insisted that Intel provide a second source of chips as to avoid overdependence on one supplier.
In 1982 Intel and AMD signed a technology exchange agreement to make AMD that second
supplier. This agreement only gave AMD access to the second generation or 286 chip technology. In
1984 Intel attempted to cut AMD out of the process with the 386 family of chips. AMD filed for
legal action claiming that this was an attempt to create a monopoly and settled in 1987. This would
not be the last time that AMD would seek legal action to prevent Intel from creating a monopoly.
In 1991 AMD filed an antitrust complaint again claiming that Intel was engaged in unlawful acts
designed to secure and maintain a monopoly. In 1992 a court ruled in AMD's favor and awarded $10
million as well as the ability to license Intel's 386 designs without paying a royalty. Finally in 1995
AMD settled the rest of its legal disputes by agreeing to a deal that gave AMD a shared interest in
the x86 chip design, which is still being used today in personal computers. This agreement required
AMD to develop its own products with the x86 design. The company released its first creation under
the x86 architecture in 1999.
These agreements did not mark an end to the conflict between the two companies. In 2000 AMD
complained to the European Commission that Intel was using overly abusive marketing programs.

Introduction
The NVIDIA Titan X belongs to the GeForce 900 Series of graphics cards developed by NVIDIA. It
is also placed in the "Enthusiast" category of graphical processing units, which indicates that it is
mainly used in very high performance personal computers. Graphics cards in this category are
placed there because they offer significantly faster processing capabilities and will generally have
more memory. This kind of card appeals to consumers that play video games and want to push their
computer to the limit by using the best available graphics in–game. The Titan X's original
microarchitecture was the Maxwell microarchitecture. The first generation of Maxwell GPUs hit the
market in February of 2014. Later versions of the Titan X improved on the Maxwell
microarchitecture by introducing the Pascal microarchitecture in April of 2016. Although the
NVIDIA Titan X is the most powerful graphics card the normal consumer can buy, it has many
competitors that it has to worry about. The main reason this is, is because the processing power
comes at a hefty price. It has stayed around a constant $1200 since it's release nine months ago.

The earliest version of the NVIDIA Titan X used the Maxwell microarchitecture, which is the

Dan Sperber's Article The Future of Writing
In Dan Sperber's article "The Future of Writing," he assesses the presence of writing and reading in
our society, as well as where it may lie in the future . He addresses the possible downfall of writing,
the prevalence that reading will hold in our society, as well as how our society will adapt and handle
the changes. He also covers the emergence of text–to–speech and speech–to–text technological
advances, the effects on society and how the disappearance of the two of them will never fully
occur. Sperber's main claim throughout the article is that writing, with the help of technology, may
eventually cease to exist, or at least be far less prominent . While writing has obtained a unique and
prominent standing in most places of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Sperber does stress that there is a strong difference between the writing and reading, and
their relationship with technology. While he states that writing may completely be taken over by
technology, the same could never be done to reading. Most particularly because the two are very
closely linked, yet writing could never exist without reading. The benefits that are present with
writing come mostly from reading, as well as with the fact that as you write, you read along with
your words. Though writing may be replaced at some point in time, reading can never be replaced
despite the text–to–speech technology.
In particular, he addresses the impact that technology could have, and like writing it involves both
speech and text, yet in the opposite order. This time technology would allow a person to listen to the
text be read to them rather than having to read it themselves. However, Sperber suspects that this is
much less likely than the latter, particularly because most people prefer to read and interpret on their
own. They typically also do not enjoy the voice of the computer, and it is much harder to follow,
especially due to

Technology Is Not Good For Students
In todays society technology is becoming more popular in our school systems, and even in our
workforce. Many people may argue that technology is not good for students, but I disagree.
Technology in the classroom is very important for students not only for their social, or learning lives
but also when they get into the workforce. If students learn technology in their early years they will
not have a difficult time when they enter the workforce to find that there is a lot of technology being
used.
Since the first affordable personal computer came out in the 1980's technology has had a big impact
on children in the K–12 grade classroom. As technology has become more reliable and more
available in schools the role of the teacher has changed. When a teacher has knowledge in
technology, teachers are able to teach students to become successful learners in the 21st century,
which will allow them to find, seek, and assimilate data from multiple sources. As we all know
education does not stop in the K–12 grade classroom or even at the college level. In todays society
students continue to educate themselves even if they are not in the classroom. "With students
continuing to educate themselves it helps them prepare to self teach in order to be competitive in the
21st century job force" (Molnar). Many of us may see that there are many careers out there that
require an individual to have education in technology. Since technology is increasing more and more

The smartphone market is one of today's most rapid growing industries. A smartphone is a
technologically advanced communication device that not only performs the actions of a basic
mobile phone, but it also allows the consumer to personalize the device with installable applications
from an Internet based store for maximum functionality (Smartphone, 2015). A recent annual report
from Mary Meeker on Internet trends reported that 87 % of young adults, those between the ages of
18 and 34, who own smartphones are never separated from them. Her report also showed that 4 out
of 5 young adults say that they reach for their smartphones as soon as they awaken each day
(Hackett, 2015). The smartphone industry is made up of a number of firms located around the world
that design, manufacture, and sell smartphones in various markets. The major industry competitors
are Samsung (South Korea), Apple, Inc. (U.S.), Lenovo (China), Huawei (China), & L G Electronics
(South Korea). These were the top five competitors for the first quarter 2015 (IDC, 2015). The
smartphone industry changes quickly due to new products being introduced almost weekly. The
industry is represented by fast developing technology and designs, short product life cycles,
aggressive pricing, quick imitation of products, technological advancements, and highly price
sensitive consumers. The rate of technological change has

Use Of Technology And Social Media
The use of technology and social media makes our life a lot easier. Social media and technology
play a huge role in our everyday life and friendship. In today's world, people, mostly teenagers use
social media and technology every day to communicate and interact with others. Technology gives
us an opportunity to connect with anybody we want from anywhere we are, saving us time.
According to "Daily News" 84 percent of people worldwide say they couldn't go a single day
without their mobile device in their hand. That means almost everybody uses their phone in order to
communicate and stay updated. I use my phone every single day and I cannot imagine living my life
without a smartphone. I go on social media websites every day to connect with friends and see what
they are doing. It is the fastest way to interact with friends and I love technology for that. A couple
decades ago people didn't have good communication devices therefore it was much harder for them
to connect with each other. Technology makes it much more convenient and easy for us to use,
saving us a lot of time. Having technology makes our life easier and at the same time virtual. It is
very convenient and just normal for our society to use it everyday. In my opinion modern
technology provides more options and opportunities to connect with our friends. I really don't think
that technology and social media ruin our friendships like most people would say. It all depends on
how you use it. Technology and Social media

PATH Supports the Health of Developing Countries
There are many organizations out there directed at the support and health of struggling developing
countries around the globe. PATH is one of the leaders at the forefront as an International Non–

lives" (PATH). This 40 year old organization that was started in the mid–1970s by Gordon Duncan,
Rich Mahoney, and Gordon Perkin Focusing on the distribution of contraceptive technologies and
supplies has grown to a multi–divisional non–profit organization. PICAT or Program for the
Introduction and Adaptation of Contraceptive Technology, emerged from a small apartment in
Seattle with a donation from the Ford foundation, has become the international organization known
as PATH. This Organization with it's Growth continues to outgrow it's name, starting with the
expansion away from only providing access to contraceptives around the world to developing new
fields in healthcare for primarily woman and children in developing countries. As PATH was known
as an acronym meaning "Program for Appropriate Technology in Health"(PATH FAQs) they are
now as of 2014 simply PATH. Their definition of PATH today is "transformative innovation that

One of the biggest problem of NV1 is that its' rendering was quite different than a typical polygon
rendering. Then in 1996, for the first time NVIDIA unveils its first Microsoft, DirectX drivers with
support for the Direct3D, which is an API used to render 3D graphs where performance is very
critical. During that year NVIDIA didn't release any new products till 1997. After 2 years they
finally introduced RIVA 128, the first 128–bit 3D processor. It received an OEM acceptance, and
only in four months shipped more than one million units. It is one of the first consumer graphics
processing unit to integrate 3D acceleration to traditional 2D and video acceleration. The acronym
for RIVA is Real–time Interactive Video and Animation accelerator. The NV1 chips was designed
for a fundamentally different type of rendering technology, but the RIVA 128 was designed to
accelerate Direct3D. During this time period everything changed. For the first time Microsoft
selected NVIDIA to provide a much better graphics processors in Xbox gaming console. Not only
that the world's first notebook GPU GeForce 2 Go was launched. Not only that the company has
shipped its 100 millionth processor. Using their technology, they helped NASA reconstruct their

Society's Dependency On Technology
Today, technology is a ruling factor among our society.
Technology is involved in every aspect of our lives.
Our dependence on technology has been taken to a whole other level, we are now incredibly
dependent on technology.
We may be too dependent on technology, but our dependence does not necessarily impact us in
negative ways. II. Some say the increasing need for technology, specifically social media, causes
social isolation. Since so much time is spent on technology, these days, people tend to forget about
the outside world around them (Ramey).
"Americans aged 18 and older spend more than 11 hours a day watching TV, listening to the radio or
using smartphones and other electronic devices" (Richter). B. However, communication has been
greatly improved by advancing technology.
Because of technology, it has become more convenient to communicate with those we desire to
speak with much more often ("Benefits of Technology").
"Modern technology has made it simple to discover our old friends and discover new people to
network with [through social media]" (Ramey).
2. "Modern technology has blessed us with advanced communication technology tools" (Ramey).
"These [technology tools] can include e–fax machines, electronic mail, mobile phones,

Computer Case Study
I recently began to venture into computer gaming and in seeing the pros and cons of building your
own system versus buying a prebuilt, decided that I was going to build my own computer. With no
sound foundation in this new venture I decided that I was going to learn as much as I could about
each component before making such a big investment and quite possibly, immediately breaking it.
After looking at a few different pieces of equipment, I found myself looking at the GPU (Graphics
Processing Unit). One of the first articles I read was a gaming enthusiast that was explaining how
people who purchased the top of the line GPU a few years ago for an outrageous price, were being
outperformed by a newer GPU for a much lower price. This sparked my ... Show more content on

Both in cost of product, stock prices and even the supply as well. Over the last few years, computer
enthusiast saw a dramatic shift in prices for GPUs. The biggest spike in price comes from
cryptocurrency mining. At the height of the cryptocurrency mining craze, GPU cards were being
sold for up to triple what they were being sold just weeks prior. A great example of this was the Asus
ROG Strix RX 580 which before June of 2017, cost about around the $300 price tag. On June 6th,
2017 it hit its highest price and topped at an astonishing $849.99. This was because of the massive
demand for graphics cards and this caused a shortage that has just recently started to relax as more
graphics cards can be found on the market for more reasonable prices. The equilibrium was
completely askew with the extreme demand with not enough supply. Now that cryptocurrencies
have started to settle with not as many mass purchases, we see prices across the board coming down.
With more and more interest in A.I, the GPU finds itself at the center of its progress. GPUs are
taking over the process that CPU's once held as the computation powerhouse for A.I as it is able to
offer more cores to enable faster learning in certain areas of the A.I field. Since neither of these
seem to be going away, making the logical leap that GPU's will be around and will be constantly
advancing with the surrounding technology, seems like a safe bet. As mentioned before, GPUs will
not be going anywhere any time

Overview
When we enter the world of Andrzej Sapkowski we were captivated with the visual quality of the
surroundings and the perfect modeling of all the characters and creatures, especially The White Wolf
(Geralt of Rivia). The quality of the textures, dynamics processing work and the perfect
implementation of all elements provide a living world around us that will leave us captivated. This
impressive finish is enhanced by the huge size of the map (3.5 times larger than Skyrim) and the
possibility of freely around on foot or on horseback without ... Show more content on

It is incredibly shocking and galling to see the incredible design of the physical context in which we
live.
You can go riding on a plain to gradually go deeper into a thick forest with giant trees that at one
point, block any sunshine. I found that the random encounters and events with people and monsters
in the open world were just as fulfilling as the main story.
I am happy to say that this kind of magical moments are more frequent in The Witcher 3 of what
many might think. Every plant, every bush, every stream, every swamp and every ravine, has a
purpose to be, leaving very clear the huge attention to detail that was put into this aspect of the
game. No, you will not get bored at any time the environment you have to explore, because its
elements will feel organic and mutating as your story progresses. In general, I can say that explore
every centimeter of the world that presents Wild Hunt, is a true delight.

2015 Advanced Micro Devices ( Amd )
In 2015 Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) was in a difficult position. The once formidable
competitor in multiple facets of the personal computer market had seen its strong profits turn
negative and its debt totals rise. The company was finding it difficult to compete across multiple
markets due to a number of factors. The most important of which was a series of weak product
offerings, which created a larger gap in the quality of AMD's products when compared with the
competition.
AMD had once held large market shares in both the CPU (central processing unit) and GPU
(graphics processing unit) markets. When each of these products are combined in the personal

In the early 1980's, IBM chose to purchase Intel's x86 chip architecture and the DOS software
operating system designed by Microsoft (Singer, 2005). IBM insisted that Intel provide a second
source of chips as to avoid over dependence on one supplier. To accommodate IBM's request Intel
and AMD signed a technology exchange agreement to make AMD that second supplier ("Company
History"). This agreement limited AMD's access to only the second generation or 286 chip
technology. In the 1980's Intel attempted to eliminate AMD from the process with the 386 family of
chips (Singer, 2005). AMD filed for legal action claiming that this was an attempt to create a
monopoly and settled in 1987, but this would not be the last time that AMD would seek legal action
to prevent Intel from creating a monopoly.
In 1991, AMD filed an antitrust complaint again claiming that Intel was engaged in unlawful acts
designed to secure and maintain a monopoly. The case was settled in 1992 and the court ruled in
AMD's favor by awarding $10 million as well as the ability to license Intel's 386 designs without
paying a royalty. Finally, in 1995 AMD settled the rest of its legal disputes by agreeing to a deal that
gave AMD a shared interest in the x86 chip design, which is still being used today in personal

The Invention Of The First Mover
The first–mover advantage is defined as a firm's ability to be better off than its competitors as a
result of being the first to market in a new product category. This concept is accepted without
questioning or objecting it, a great amount of mangers believe that be incorporating this status will
increase their competitive advantage and obtaining a great part of the market share. There are
executives that believe that the first–mover is a great advantage that will make their business
succeed in every industry that they enter, the case is that there are many scientific refutals of this
method because not every firm has the same sources as others, and the market and technology
change differently, plus we must include other different factors. The research in this article found
situations in which companies are successful with the first–mover method, but also found situations
where firms need different sources and sometimes are unsuccessful. In the article, we found two
factors that influence greatly the first–mover's success, this factors are:
The pace at which the technology of the product is evolving
The pace at which the market for the product is expanding
By, knowing this factors we can create a strategy in competing in the market depending on these
factors, after doing this we could distinguish between the long–term advantage which can increase a
companies profits and grab a greater market share than competitors, or a short–time which is not the

Technology and conversation
It is amazing how everyone's life is changing by through us of technology. "Technology by
definition means, the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means
and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as
industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science"(Technology). Today people use
different kinds of technology like: cellphones, iPods, laptops, mp3s, and all of the devices create a
convenient and comfort for every individual. As technology is updating every day, and every second
it is affecting people's lives and changing the pace of everything that relates to humans' routines.
One of the most important things that technology changes is the way everyone communicates.
Technologies create more powerful and effective ways of communication. People are getting used to
a new way to be alone together. Conversation in number and quality decrease as technology replaces

without considering what price they are paying and persuades how technology has a huge effect on
people's conversation.

Computer Components: The Graphics Card
Introduction
The Graphics Card is computer component in most modern day PCs. The Card uses the PCI
(Peripheral Component Interconnect) or PCI–E (PCI Express) slots on the motherboard. It's used to
show all of the visuals on the computer screen: it can use the following: DIV (Digital Visual
Interface), VGA (Video Graphics Array), and HDMI (High–Definition Multimedia Interface) output.
The oldest of the three is VGA; VGA was made in 1987 and still used to this day. The next one used
is DVI. DVI is a lot newer than VGA but it's still not the greatest now a day's. The last and newest is
HDMI; HDMI is what most people use today. It was made in the late 20's. I wrote this paper about
the graphics Card because I have always been fascinated with them, every day I use them I always
wanted to know how they worked. Out of every other computer part without them we would have to
just use the command prompted, which is very hard without understanding computers more in–
depth. I evaluate my resources by comparing the deferent information I gathered with other web
sites, and I asked my Instructor if I thought something about the information I was getting was
wrong. Most if all of my information is coming from web sites. My topic has to deal with part

there was no room in the budget for the i7 unless the money is wasted into bottlenecking. In
addition, we chose the quad core processors because most games are only beginning to adapt to
perform on quad core processors which means an 8 core processor would be unnecessary and overly

Technology And Its Effect On Human Interaction
Albert Einstein once exclaimed, "I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction."
His brilliance shows in today's era since now, technology predominates ordinary functions and
paralyzes the ability for humans to ponder and generate originality. Not one individual is thus
required to rigorously search for information or create ideas that are not simply available on the
world web. This excessive attachment to the devices that deliver access to such a broad spectrum of
information is evidently destroying human potential to excel within the realms of communication
and etc. Smartphones, in particular, spark significant concern since they are portable electronic
devices with the functionality of numerous gadgets combined. Researchers are concerned about the
tendency of people to merely replace experiences in reality with those of the virtual world within
their phones. This matter holds relevance within today's society since a notable percentage of
humans own smartphones and the activities which they participate in with the device stretches from
photography to games and to mere pastime rituals. Although technology allows innovation and is
dire to numerous practices that benefit humanity; excessive dependence can cripple society in ways
that include communicative disability and mental disorders that can thrive in effect to such an
attachment.
Technological breakthroughs have allowed humanity to thrive in methods that prior generations
believed impossible. The

Innovation No More
It seems we have lost the ability to innovate. We do not think the way we used to; we do not invent
new concepts or ideas, rather we just adapt ideas of the past. Our thinking now a day is very limited
to what we have already created.
Google's definition of innovating, "make changes in something established, esp. by introducing new
methods, ideas, or products," suggests that innovation is now just development of an old idea. In this
definition there seems to be no mention of inventing but rather only the alteration of a product in a
way never done before. It's not that the alteration of a product is bad thing but it does create a very
limited thinking world; a world that relies on the blueprints of the past to create a future.
So have we really lost our ability to innovate? Not really, it's just that innovation has become merely
focused on technology. It seems like technology will be the future. That future will involve people
innovation of past ideas and not trying anything new due to the fear of failing. That innovation will
mostly focus on technology which can help to make money.
The novel "Oryx and Crake" which is based on the future shows somewhat of the real future and
what it will be like. In this science fiction novel, we are treated to a very limited thinking world in
which the main concern is technology and money. There are some technological advances evident in
this novel but not ones which are comprehensive or mind boggling. For example, there is a lot of

Section Two: Communications Plan
Introduction
No matter where one lives or what job is held, one thing remains necessary for success to occur,
communication. Effective communication enables bosses to communicate with employees, family
and friends to talk with one another, and teachers to communicate with students and parents. It is
this communication that lays the ground work for success in any situation. Today, many people rely
on various forms of technology to communicate with one another. The advancements in technology
make sending out important reminders, cute pictures, or a simple life update quick and efficient. It is
no different in the world of education. Teachers must learn how to use effective technology
communication tools such as class websites, social media, e–mail, and text alerts to communicate
quickly and effectively with both parents and students while preserving the safety and security of
students working online.
Technology to Enhance Communication
Class Websites: Class websites are a great communication tool that allows the teacher to
communicate with parents, students, and the global community at large. These websites can be used
to communicate basic information, such as the teacher's background and classroom policies (Dunn,
2011, pg. 60–62). Different levels of complexity allow teachers to decide the purpose of the website

cookie cutter. It not just saves power and datacenter space, but also save time to rack and stack,

Information Technology (IT) increases productivities, enables many capabilities to businesses such
as online store, work from anywhere, but not without some significant cost. The cost of IT is like an

iceberg. What hidden are the costs of managing those assets, including but not limit to, securing,
upgrading, refreshing those assets, and how to quickly implement changes to adapt to the changes of
hardware and software.

Is Google Making Us Stupid
There has been debate on how the growth of technological inventions is influencing the way humans
think. For teenagers and young adults in my generation, it's rather easy to adapt to new
advancements since we grew up being introduced to so many inventions that took over the entire
world's interest in the past decade. I personally prefer to multitask than to focus on one task at hand
and I can record more information in a less amount of time when I type on a keyboard. Therefore, I
have an easier time learning and getting things done with techy tools than when I sit upright with
just a pen and paper. But most skeptics that assume technology is a disease would argue that
technology's versatility and convenience could be a distracting to our thought process. In the article,
"Is Google Making Us Stupid," author Nicholas Carr believes that the progress in technological
innovation has had a derailing effect on our cognition; however, in the article, "Smarter Than You
Think," Clive Thompson addresses how collaborating with today's technological advances can
actually give more opportunities to bring about more intelligence. Although Carr addresses how
technology can be a major challenge to our critical thinking skills, Thompson arguably provides
better evidence to show how technology actually challenges our skills to for the better by teaching
us how to be more aware, giving us the opportunity to access the most amount of information, and
creating a higher field of expertise for the

the world every day ("Exxon"). Part of its expansion strategy involves integrating its different
operating divisions. For example, over 90% of its chemical capacity is integrated with its natural gas
and refining operations. This allows for cross–utilization of resources, ultimately boosting efficiency
and reducing costs. Technology is at the forefront of ExxonMobil's strategy. Newer technology
allows for more environmentally conscious and efficient operations, which can save the firm time
and money, while reducing its effect on the environment ("Exxon").
ExxonMobil has several large competitors in this sector, such as Chevron Corp., Royal Dutch Shell,

The main contributing factor determining how well ExxonMobil and its competitors perform is the
price of crude oil. The suspected slowdown in the Chinese economy was the demand–side reason

Ibm's Culture Transformation : Ibm
IBM's Culture Transformation
There is a multitude of reasons as to why an organization may change their culture. Some catalysts
to cultural change could be such things as changes in the economy, external events, internal
shortcomings, restructuring of leadership, or growth of technological capabilities. Since IBM was
founded in 1911, it has undergone a multitude of cultural changes driven by each one of these
factors. The 1990's included a large cultural shift for this organization driven by a new CEO and
new technological capabilities.
Culture Prior to the Change Prior to their cultural change that took place in the early 1990's, many
would have said that IBM was on a fatal downhill slide. At this point they were beginning to
become obsolete. IBM at one point was among the leaders within the world for hardware/software
development and information technology services, but all divisions within the organization were run
independently from one another. They were not a unified enterprise. To solidify this even further,
"rather than working together as a team, divisions competed against each other both internally and
in the field" (DiCarlo, L., 2002).
Steps to Change On April 1, 1993 Louis V. Gerstner took over as IBM's chairman and CEO.
Gerstner was able to recognize the flaws in IBM's model to have the company being run as several
independent parts from one another. From the beginning he was able to recognize that "IBM was

Social Darwinism And Natural Selection
It is almost undeniable that the technologies cause rapid changes in human relationships, cultures,
and societies. While it enormously facilitates us in nearly every aspect of our life, such changes also
create consequences that we do not yet realize. Almost all of us know Darwinism and Natural
Selection in the biological field, but we often overlook the similar phenomena in the social aspect.
In fact, resemble to the way we adapt to our physical environment, we also adapt to our social
environment in order to survive and excel in our social relationships. Such adaption is called Social
Darwinism. Because technologies have significantly influenced our social environment, humans are
forced to adapt not only to technologies, but also to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason behind such decision is that unless in urgent situations, other people expect them to text,
the technology that is more prevalent and requires less effort to respond than phone (Turkle 375).
Although "Tara and Leonora are discontent, but do not feel they have a choice. This is where
technology has brought them" (Turkle 375). From those examples, we can easily observe that
because the notions of using certain technology have already became parts of our general social
roles, people can no longer resist the influence of it regardless of our feeling.
In the meantime, we are also forced to mentally adapt popularity and efficiency, the core values of
modern technologies. In analogy, humans evolve (in the bigger and smaller scale) not only because
of our side environment, but also the pressure under the notion that only the fittest among us can
survive. In the comparison between phone calls and texts, texts are not any more technologically
advanced than phone calls are. However, we in general still prefer texts, and intentionally or
unintentionally make others around us use them because of the efficiency behind them. Moreover,
when the popularity of texts is accumulated, such preference becomes further irreversible. Back to
the context of expectations and social roles, we enjoy popularity as the outcome of pluralism, the
conformity of social roles and expectation. In

The Battle With Nividia And Amd

  • 1. The Battle with Nividia and Amd anonymous axolotl hour 8 edited by Title The battle between Nividia and Amd has been waging sence 1993. Which company has the best gpu? Which company provides the best gaming experiance? well thats exactly what this paper is about. this paper states that the nividia genforce gtx 780 ti provides a better gaming experiance than the amd radieon r9 290 x. these two cards currently (as of december of 2013) are the best cards for gaming that money can buy. also it is stated that all benchmarks temperature tests, and fps counts are done with the same cpu, motherboard, ram, psu, and cooling technology. So lets end this battle once and for all. first, lets discuss CUDA cores and shader units. These are both practicly the same thing, just from diffent companys. CUDA stands for compute unifies device achitecture ( Nividia 3). these powerful units can be manipulated for any of your graphical needs. they can process images in ultra high resolutions, or even work together to make a super realistic phisics engine. (hint: look in paragraph 5 for more information on that). for the number people out ther the Gtx 780 ti has 2880 CUDA cores( newegg 10). Also the R9 290x has 2880 shader units (newegg is measured in 10). so as you can see there isnt any diffences in power there. next, lets talk about clock speeds. clocks speeds are basicly how fast your gpu can use its hardware to pocess the graphics in your game. the clock speed of a graphics card id measured in mhz. a mhz is 1 million hz. ... • 3. Personal Statement I started my career in an unorthodox way: delivering science and technology news directly to live audiences from a stage. I was an early member of the experimental Current Science & Technology Center at Boston's Museum of Science, an effort to bring cutting edge science to adult members of the public through extended interactions with science journalists in an informal education setting. I was fortunate enough to work alongside a graduate of the Columbia University School of Journalism, a former producer for NOVA, the current executive director of the National Association of Science Writers, and other highly skilled science communicators. I considered these people my journalism professors, and worked with them to develop the skills ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I planned the episodes, booked guests, and served as host, producer, and editor of the show, interviewing researchers, explorers, and inventors from a wide variety of disciplines. A year after launching the show, it was awarded the American Association of Museum's 2007 Gold Muse Award, the top honor granted for teaching and outreach by one of the largest museum associations in the world. In all, I conducted roughly 150 interviews for podcasts or video during my time at the museum, and dozens more during live presentations. While I was at the Museum of Science, I started Boston Behind the Scenes, my own independent podcast profiling ordinary and extraordinary people around the Boston area. This is a human– interest interview show that introduces the audience to local people, from street vendors to newspaper editors. Through work on that podcast, I became involved in an iPod–based documentary tour project. This allowed me the financial freedom to begin working full–time as a freelance new media journalist and producer. The two most prominent positions I have assumed recently are as host, producer, and editor of new media programs for the education division of Nature and for the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. The first, for Nature, is a biweekly video series called Simply ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The world is always evolving and ways in which we operate at home, work and school are changing as well. I believe one solution to that argument are Hybrid courses. The hybrid classroom incorporates characteristics from both the tradtional and the online classroom. In the ideal, hybrid courses offer educators the best of both worlds Hybrid Classrooms are able to have access to the Internet in order to enhance the learning process. Students have the benefit of having both face–to–face interactions along with having assignments available to them online at anytime.( Okolo, T, & Naidoo, T., 2005) For example, students may meet in class only one day a week along with meeting in an online chat room for the other two days of class. The hybrid classroom is a new approach to teaching. That is only of the major aspect that is discussed about when talking about technology in the classroom in depts. One technological advantage that is fairly new and should be use more are web blogs they are part of technology in the classroom. Educational weblogs let students the opportunities to use technology in endless ways, aspects such as e–portfolios, collaboration, construction, experimentation, an development(Miller,2008). • 7. How Technology Has Impacted Education Introduction Education is defined as 'the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgement, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life.' A good education leads to knowledge, career progression, enlightenment and helps a nation progress, as John F. Kennedy said; "Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education. The human mind is our fundamental resource." The introduction of technology in education has impacted education both for good and bad. According to the Oxford dictionary, Technology is; 'machinery and devices that are developed from scientific knowledge to increase or better, everyday functions.' Technology used in education, is part of a large debate over whether it is improving educational outcomes in students. Some say technology is revolutionizing education for the better, and others say it is a trend that offer/s no specific improvements to education. Although technology can never replace a good quality teacher, the advantages and benefits of technology, positively supplements a bridge between education and the technological world, hence offers students the marketable job skills they need in order to satisfy in the evolving technological world. Relevant interviews and surveys were conducted, to discover peoples understanding of technology. 1. Advantages of technology in schools and how this improves educational outcomes. ... • 11. How Technology Has Changed Our Lives In our ever–evolving world, we have seen the emergence of technology in all aspects of our lives. People use technology as a form of entertainment, as a tool to help them communicate with other people, to help them monitor their health and as a tool to help them enhance their work. When out in public, it is common to see numerous people using some form of technologic device. While at the mall, it is common to see people talking on their phones, texting people or posting on their social network sites. At a doctor's offices you will likely see people playing on their tablets or using their cell phones, and it is even common practice to see these devices being used by people who are working out at the gym. Although technology has been embraced in many areas of society, there are still some areas that resist it. Oliver, Osa & Walker explain that "While society in general has embraced 21st century technology innovations for daily living, a gap remains in the understanding of appropriate uses for technology in the learning environment (Banister & Ross, 2006)" (2012). Unfortunately, instructional technologies have not been utilized to their full potential. The focus of this essay is to show that instructional technologies should be integrated into the classroom because when they are used appropriately, they can have a positive impact on student achievement. Throughout this essay the ideas of leading advocates of integrating technology into the classroom will be discussed. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Components Of Building A Gaming Pc My topic of interest this week is learning about a few components involved in building a gaming PC. I believe this is a great topic for me as my intended professional goal is to become a video game developer. Where would a professional game developer, like myself, be without a proper gaming PC. Plus, I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to share my passion. I have owned many gaming consoles, PC's, and Mac's over the years. If you are a true gamer, you will already know which platform is the best for you. Gaming consoles like the PS4 or XBOX ONE, while a great source for gaming entertainment are, "cheaper because they do not have a graphics card, instead they have an APU which is the GPU and CPU combined." (The Geeky Kids ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also have the lowest number of developed games between all the platforms. So now I'm thinking why can't I have both a iMac and gaming PC? Well, after doing some research, I think having both might actually be a strong possibility for me. Now getting into the main portion of my topic why PC is the best for gaming. First off, PC's use only a GPU, allowing this item to be upgraded while advancements in technology take place. This, in turn, allows a PC to have full access to incredible graphics, giving the gamer a higher level gaming experience. There are three primary components that are the foundations to building a great PC, "they are the central processing unit (CPU), also called a processor, the video card and memory (RAM)." (Bellerophon08, 2013) You will find many different brands and styles, such as an AMD FX 8350 AM3+ 4.0Ghz (CPU) or a Kingston HyperX blu 1600mhz 2x4GB (RAM). They all depend on what suits your individual needs and budget. One of the most exiting components I get to talk about, is the motherboard. Just like its title this is what brings all the components together in harmony. One interesting fact I didn't know, but was crucial to the proper function of a PC, is a motherboard socket type. Seeing as they are not interchangeable, you need to make sure you know what CPU you are investing in, as you are unable to mix and match a motherboard and CPU brand. For example, if you ... • 15. Analysis Of 2015 Advanced Micro Devices Introduction In 2015 Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) was in a difficult position. The once formidable competitor in multiple facets of the personal computer market had seen its strong profits turn negative and its debt totals rise. The company was finding it difficult to compete across multiple markets with due to a number of factors. The most important of which was a series of weak product offerings, which created a larger gap in the quality of AMD's products when compared with the competition. AMD had once held large market shares in both the CPU (central processing unit) and GPU (graphics processing unit) markets. Each of these products combine in the personal computer to allow users to take on more demanding tasks such as video editing, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... IBM insisted that Intel provide a second source of chips as to avoid overdependence on one supplier. In 1982 Intel and AMD signed a technology exchange agreement to make AMD that second supplier. This agreement only gave AMD access to the second generation or 286 chip technology. In 1984 Intel attempted to cut AMD out of the process with the 386 family of chips. AMD filed for legal action claiming that this was an attempt to create a monopoly and settled in 1987. This would not be the last time that AMD would seek legal action to prevent Intel from creating a monopoly. In 1991 AMD filed an antitrust complaint again claiming that Intel was engaged in unlawful acts designed to secure and maintain a monopoly. In 1992 a court ruled in AMD's favor and awarded $10 million as well as the ability to license Intel's 386 designs without paying a royalty. Finally in 1995 AMD settled the rest of its legal disputes by agreeing to a deal that gave AMD a shared interest in the x86 chip design, which is still being used today in personal computers. This agreement required AMD to develop its own products with the x86 design. The company released its first creation under the x86 architecture in 1999. These agreements did not mark an end to the conflict between the two companies. In 2000 AMD complained to the European Commission that Intel was using overly abusive marketing programs. This ... Titan X Research Paper NVIDIA Titan X Graphics Card Nicholas Mosceo 0299831 MIT311 System Configuration II Computer Systems Technology 12/02/2016 Introduction The NVIDIA Titan X belongs to the GeForce 900 Series of graphics cards developed by NVIDIA. It is also placed in the "Enthusiast" category of graphical processing units, which indicates that it is mainly used in very high performance personal computers. Graphics cards in this category are placed there because they offer significantly faster processing capabilities and will generally have more memory. This kind of card appeals to consumers that play video games and want to push their computer to the limit by using the best available graphics in–game. The Titan X's original microarchitecture was the Maxwell microarchitecture. The first generation of Maxwell GPUs hit the market in February of 2014. Later versions of the Titan X improved on the Maxwell microarchitecture by introducing the Pascal microarchitecture in April of 2016. Although the NVIDIA Titan X is the most powerful graphics card the normal consumer can buy, it has many competitors that it has to worry about. The main reason this is, is because the processing power comes at a hefty price. It has stayed around a constant $1200 since it's release nine months ago. Dan Sperber's Article The Future of Writing In Dan Sperber's article "The Future of Writing," he assesses the presence of writing and reading in our society, as well as where it may lie in the future . He addresses the possible downfall of writing, the prevalence that reading will hold in our society, as well as how our society will adapt and handle the changes. He also covers the emergence of text–to–speech and speech–to–text technological advances, the effects on society and how the disappearance of the two of them will never fully occur. Sperber's main claim throughout the article is that writing, with the help of technology, may eventually cease to exist, or at least be far less prominent . While writing has obtained a unique and prominent standing in most places of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Sperber does stress that there is a strong difference between the writing and reading, and their relationship with technology. While he states that writing may completely be taken over by technology, the same could never be done to reading. Most particularly because the two are very closely linked, yet writing could never exist without reading. The benefits that are present with writing come mostly from reading, as well as with the fact that as you write, you read along with your words. Though writing may be replaced at some point in time, reading can never be replaced despite the text–to–speech technology. In particular, he addresses the impact that technology could have, and like writing it involves both speech and text, yet in the opposite order. This time technology would allow a person to listen to the text be read to them rather than having to read it themselves. However, Sperber suspects that this is much less likely than the latter, particularly because most people prefer to read and interpret on their own. They typically also do not enjoy the voice of the computer, and it is much harder to follow, especially due to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Technology Is Not Good For Students In todays society technology is becoming more popular in our school systems, and even in our workforce. Many people may argue that technology is not good for students, but I disagree. Technology in the classroom is very important for students not only for their social, or learning lives but also when they get into the workforce. If students learn technology in their early years they will not have a difficult time when they enter the workforce to find that there is a lot of technology being used. Since the first affordable personal computer came out in the 1980's technology has had a big impact on children in the K–12 grade classroom. As technology has become more reliable and more available in schools the role of the teacher has changed. When a teacher has knowledge in technology, teachers are able to teach students to become successful learners in the 21st century, which will allow them to find, seek, and assimilate data from multiple sources. As we all know education does not stop in the K–12 grade classroom or even at the college level. In todays society students continue to educate themselves even if they are not in the classroom. "With students continuing to educate themselves it helps them prepare to self teach in order to be competitive in the 21st century job force" (Molnar). Many of us may see that there are many careers out there that require an individual to have education in technology. Since technology is increasing more and more not only in our environment but ... A smartphone is a technologically advanced communication device that not only performs the actions of a basic mobile phone, but it also allows the consumer to personalize the device with installable applications from an Internet based store for maximum functionality (Smartphone, 2015). A recent annual report from Mary Meeker on Internet trends reported that 87 % of young adults, those between the ages of 18 and 34, who own smartphones are never separated from them. Her report also showed that 4 out of 5 young adults say that they reach for their smartphones as soon as they awaken each day (Hackett, 2015). In today's world, people, mostly teenagers use social media and technology every day to communicate and interact with others. Technology gives us an opportunity to connect with anybody we want from anywhere we are, saving us time. According to "Daily News" 84 percent of people worldwide say they couldn't go a single day without their mobile device in their hand. That means almost everybody uses their phone in order to communicate and stay updated. I use my phone every single day and I cannot imagine living my life without a smartphone. I go on social media websites every day to connect with friends and see what they are doing. It is the fastest way to interact with friends and I love technology for that. A couple decades ago people didn't have good communication devices therefore it was much harder for them to connect with each other. Technology makes it much more convenient and easy for us to use, saving us a lot of time. Having technology makes our life easier and at the same time virtual. It is very convenient and just normal for our society to use it everyday. In my opinion modern technology provides more options and opportunities to connect with our friends. I really don't think that technology and social media ruin our friendships like most people would say. It all depends on how you use it. Technology and Social media ... One of the biggest problem of NV1 is that its' rendering was quite different than a typical polygon rendering. Then in 1996, for the first time NVIDIA unveils its first Microsoft, DirectX drivers with support for the Direct3D, which is an API used to render 3D graphs where performance is very critical. During that year NVIDIA didn't release any new products till 1997. After 2 years they finally introduced RIVA 128, the first 128–bit 3D processor. It received an OEM acceptance, and only in four months shipped more than one million units. It is one of the first consumer graphics processing unit to integrate 3D acceleration to traditional 2D and video acceleration. The acronym for RIVA is Real–time Interactive Video and Animation accelerator. The NV1 chips was designed for a fundamentally different type of rendering technology, but the RIVA 128 was designed to accelerate Direct3D. During this time period everything changed. Technology is involved in every aspect of our lives. Our dependence on technology has been taken to a whole other level, we are now incredibly dependent on technology. We may be too dependent on technology, but our dependence does not necessarily impact us in negative ways. II. Some say the increasing need for technology, specifically social media, causes social isolation. Since so much time is spent on technology, these days, people tend to forget about the outside world around them (Ramey). "Americans aged 18 and older spend more than 11 hours a day watching TV, listening to the radio or using smartphones and other electronic devices" (Richter). B. However, communication has been greatly improved by advancing technology. Because of technology, it has become more convenient to communicate with those we desire to speak with much more often ("Benefits of Technology"). Computer Case Study I recently began to venture into computer gaming and in seeing the pros and cons of building your own system versus buying a prebuilt, decided that I was going to build my own computer. With no sound foundation in this new venture I decided that I was going to learn as much as I could about each component before making such a big investment and quite possibly, immediately breaking it. After looking at a few different pieces of equipment, I found myself looking at the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit). One of the first articles I read was a gaming enthusiast that was explaining how people who purchased the top of the line GPU a few years ago for an outrageous price, were being outperformed by a newer GPU for a much lower price. This sparked my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both in cost of product, stock prices and even the supply as well. Over the last few years, computer enthusiast saw a dramatic shift in prices for GPUs. The biggest spike in price comes from cryptocurrency mining. At the height of the cryptocurrency mining craze, GPU cards were being sold for up to triple what they were being sold just weeks prior. A great example of this was the Asus ROG Strix RX 580 which before June of 2017, cost about around the $300 price tag. On June 6th, 2017 it hit its highest price and topped at an astonishing $849.99. This was because of the massive demand for graphics cards and this caused a shortage that has just recently started to relax as more graphics cards can be found on the market for more reasonable prices. The equilibrium was completely askew with the extreme demand with not enough supply. Now that cryptocurrencies have started to settle with not as many mass purchases, we see prices across the board coming down. With more and more interest in A.I, the GPU finds itself at the center of its progress. GPUs are taking over the process that CPU's once held as the computation powerhouse for A.I as it is able to offer more cores to enable faster learning in certain areas of the A.I field. Since neither of these seem to be going away, making the logical leap that GPU's will be around and will be constantly advancing with the surrounding technology, seems like a safe bet. To accommodate IBM's request Intel and AMD signed a technology exchange agreement to make AMD that second supplier ("Company History"). This agreement limited AMD's access to only the second generation or 286 chip technology. In the 1980's Intel attempted to eliminate AMD from the process with the 386 family of chips (Singer, 2005). In 1991, AMD filed an antitrust complaint again claiming that Intel was engaged in unlawful acts designed to secure and maintain a monopoly. The case was settled in 1992 and the court ruled in AMD's favor by awarding $10 million as well as the ability to license Intel's 386 designs without paying a royalty. This concept is accepted without questioning or objecting it, a great amount of mangers believe that be incorporating this status will increase their competitive advantage and obtaining a great part of the market share. There are executives that believe that the first–mover is a great advantage that will make their business succeed in every industry that they enter, the case is that there are many scientific refutals of this method because not every firm has the same sources as others, and the market and technology change differently, plus we must include other different factors. The research in this article found situations in which companies are successful with the first–mover method, but also found situations where firms need different sources and sometimes are unsuccessful. In the article, we found two factors that influence greatly the first–mover's success, this factors are: The pace at which the technology of the product is evolving The pace at which the market for the product is expanding By, knowing this factors we can create a strategy in competing in the market depending on these factors, after doing this we could distinguish between the long–term advantage which can increase a companies profits and grab a greater market share than competitors, or a short–time which is not the greatest, but can give ... His brilliance shows in today's era since now, technology predominates ordinary functions and paralyzes the ability for humans to ponder and generate originality. Not one individual is thus required to rigorously search for information or create ideas that are not simply available on the world web. This excessive attachment to the devices that deliver access to such a broad spectrum of information is evidently destroying human potential to excel within the realms of communication and etc. Smartphones, in particular, spark significant concern since they are portable electronic devices with the functionality of numerous gadgets combined. Researchers are concerned about the tendency of people to merely replace experiences in reality with those of the virtual world within their phones. This matter holds relevance within today's society since a notable percentage of humans own smartphones and the activities which they participate in with the device stretches from photography to games and to mere pastime rituals. Although technology allows innovation and is dire to numerous practices that benefit humanity; excessive dependence can cripple society in ways that include communicative disability and mental disorders that can thrive in effect to such an attachment. • 62. Innovation No More It seems we have lost the ability to innovate. We do not think the way we used to; we do not invent new concepts or ideas, rather we just adapt ideas of the past. Our thinking now a day is very limited to what we have already created. Google's definition of innovating, "make changes in something established, esp. by introducing new methods, ideas, or products," suggests that innovation is now just development of an old idea. In this definition there seems to be no mention of inventing but rather only the alteration of a product in a way never done before. It's not that the alteration of a product is bad thing but it does create a very limited thinking world; a world that relies on the blueprints of the past to create a future. So have we really lost our ability to innovate? Not really, it's just that innovation has become merely focused on technology. It seems like technology will be the future. That future will involve people innovation of past ideas and not trying anything new due to the fear of failing. That innovation will mostly focus on technology which can help to make money. The novel "Oryx and Crake" which is based on the future shows somewhat of the real future and what it will be like. In this science fiction novel, we are treated to a very limited thinking world in which the main concern is technology and money. It changed how we recorded our thoughts into written words, how we communicate with one another, how we shop, bank, how we keep our memories, most aspect of our lives. It significantly changed the manufacture industry and touched almost every single industry. The first computer was invented in 1939 by Hewlett–Packard in a garage in Palo Alto, California. It was mostly used in military/government and universities/science lab. It took 40+ years for the first personal computer to be created by IBM (1981). The first personal computer (PC) ran on a 4.77 Mhz Intel 8088 microprocessor [1]. After that computer world has advanced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Converged infrastructure is semi–pre–built, preconfigured using reference architecture. It is like cookie cutter. It not just saves power and datacenter space, but also save time to rack and stack, cable, and configure each component. Since it comes as one unit, it also offers one management console to manage all three components, hence save time on managing all three components. Information Technology (IT) increases productivities, enables many capabilities to businesses such as online store, work from anywhere, but not without some significant cost. The cost of IT is like an iceberg. The cost of acquiring new software, hardware, and IT personnel are just the top of the iceberg. What hidden are the costs of managing those assets, including but not limit to, securing, upgrading, refreshing those assets, and how to quickly implement changes to adapt to the changes of hardware and software. At the height of its success in camera film business, Kodak employed 140,000 employees and had a market value of $28 billion. Kodak filed bankruptcy (chapter 11) in 2012 after years of struggling to restructure to adapt to an increasing digital world. Kodak failed not because it missed the digital age. It actually created the first digital camera in 1975. It failed because instead of marketing the new technology, the company held back for fear of hurting its own cash cow film business, even well after digital products were reshaping the market [4]. • 72. Is Google Making Us Stupid There has been debate on how the growth of technological inventions is influencing the way humans think. For teenagers and young adults in my generation, it's rather easy to adapt to new advancements since we grew up being introduced to so many inventions that took over the entire world's interest in the past decade. I personally prefer to multitask than to focus on one task at hand and I can record more information in a less amount of time when I type on a keyboard. Therefore, I have an easier time learning and getting things done with techy tools than when I sit upright with just a pen and paper. But most skeptics that assume technology is a disease would argue that technology's versatility and convenience could be a distracting to our thought process. In the article, "Is Google Making Us Stupid," author Nicholas Carr believes that the progress in technological innovation has had a derailing effect on our cognition; however, in the article, "Smarter Than You Think," Clive Thompson addresses how collaborating with today's technological advances can actually give more opportunities to bring about more intelligence. Although Carr addresses how technology can be a major challenge to our critical thinking skills, Thompson arguably provides better evidence to show how technology actually challenges our skills to for the better by teaching us how to be more aware, giving us the opportunity to access the most amount of information, and creating a higher field of expertise for the ... For example, over 90% of its chemical capacity is integrated with its natural gas and refining operations. This allows for cross–utilization of resources, ultimately boosting efficiency and reducing costs. Technology is at the forefront of ExxonMobil's strategy. Newer technology allows for more environmentally conscious and efficient operations, which can save the firm time and money, while reducing its effect on the environment ("Exxon"). ExxonMobil has several large competitors in this sector, such as Chevron Corp., Royal Dutch Shell, and BP. Chevron is the second largest oil company in the United States, and is often compared side by side with Exxon when performance is being analyzed. Royal Dutch Shell is an enormous oil and gas producer, owning the largest retail fuel network in the world. British Petroleum is headquartered in London, and is also one of the largest oil producers in the world, having a large presence in the United States ("Edwards"). All of these companies compete in the exploration, production, and transportation of oil and its products around the world. The main contributing factor determining how well ExxonMobil and its competitors perform is the price of crude oil. The suspected slowdown in the Chinese economy was the demand–side reason for the decline in oil prices. China is one of the largest consumers of oil in the world, so any ... • 76. Ibm's Culture Transformation : Ibm IBM's Culture Transformation There is a multitude of reasons as to why an organization may change their culture. Some catalysts to cultural change could be such things as changes in the economy, external events, internal shortcomings, restructuring of leadership, or growth of technological capabilities. Since IBM was founded in 1911, it has undergone a multitude of cultural changes driven by each one of these factors. The 1990's included a large cultural shift for this organization driven by a new CEO and new technological capabilities. Culture Prior to the Change Prior to their cultural change that took place in the early 1990's, many would have said that IBM was on a fatal downhill slide. At this point they were beginning to become obsolete. IBM at one point was among the leaders within the world for hardware/software development and information technology services, but all divisions within the organization were run independently from one another. They were not a unified enterprise. To solidify this even further, "rather than working together as a team, divisions competed against each other both internally and in the field" (DiCarlo, L., 2002). Steps to Change On April 1, 1993 Louis V. Gerstner took over as IBM's chairman and CEO. Gerstner was able to recognize the flaws in IBM's model to have the company being run as several independent parts from one another. From the beginning he was able to recognize that "IBM was greater than the sum of its parts ... and the entire ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 78. Social Darwinism And Natural Selection It is almost undeniable that the technologies cause rapid changes in human relationships, cultures, and societies. While it enormously facilitates us in nearly every aspect of our life, such changes also create consequences that we do not yet realize. Almost all of us know Darwinism and Natural Selection in the biological field, but we often overlook the similar phenomena in the social aspect. In fact, resemble to the way we adapt to our physical environment, we also adapt to our social environment in order to survive and excel in our social relationships. Such adaption is called Social Darwinism. Because technologies have significantly influenced our social environment, humans are forced to adapt not only to technologies, but also to the ... The reason behind such decision is that unless in urgent situations, other people expect them to text, the technology that is more prevalent and requires less effort to respond than phone (Turkle 375). Although "Tara and Leonora are discontent, but do not feel they have a choice. This is where technology has brought them" (Turkle 375). From those examples, we can easily observe that because the notions of using certain technology have already became parts of our general social roles, people can no longer resist the influence of it regardless of our feeling. In the meantime, we are also forced to mentally adapt popularity and efficiency, the core values of modern technologies. In analogy, humans evolve (in the bigger and smaller scale) not only because of our side environment, but also the pressure under the notion that only the fittest among us can survive. In the comparison between phone calls and texts, texts are not any more technologically advanced than phone calls are. However, we in general still prefer texts, and intentionally or unintentionally make others around us use them because of the efficiency behind them. Moreover, when the popularity of texts is accumulated, such preference becomes further irreversible. Back to the context of expectations and social roles, we enjoy popularity as the outcome of pluralism, the conformity of social roles and expectation. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
