Comparing Segregation In 42 And Jim Crow Law
"Maybe tomorrow, we'll all wear 42, so nobody could tell us apart." ("42" 01:42:52–56) General
Manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers, Branch Rickey, decided to draft Jackie Robinson into the
baseball team. Rickey knew the negative feedback he would receive and he refused to let society
make the decision for him. Therefore, he went seeking for a baseball player who could meet his
standards, physically and mentally. While some differences between Brian Helgelands movie 42 and
the segregation in society and the Jim Crow laws are evident, the similarities are striking.
Segregation is the separation of people in an activity, or any association with groups, in the movie
42 there is a scene showing a hotel refusing to let the Brooklyn Dodgers enter ... Show more content

A scene is displayed in the film where a teammate of Robinson told the players to accept the fact
Robinson is going to play with them because all he is trying to do is play baseball. This player
showed how segregation should not prevent a player from remaining on a team, the decision should
change their opinions on the inequality in baseball. After a game another teammate of Robinson
casually approaches Robinson and discusses the fact of him not showering with the other
teammates. Robinson mentions his reason, which is, he decided to not shower with them because he
does not want his teammates to feel uncomfortable. His teammate shows how a person of any color
can get along, people should not be generalized off their skin color because they are just like
everyone else. Robinson's teammates show how segregation should not determine whether someone
should or should not do an activity, or job. This decision can be based off of other qualities, and
benefits an organization would have if they hired the

How Does Atticus Change In To Kill A Mockingbird
"To Kill A Mockingbird" is set in the small town of Maycomb, Alabama during the Great
Depression. The main character in the film is Atticus Finch. Atticus Finch is a highly respected
lawyer in Maycomb and is relatively financially–stable compared to the rest of the people in his
community, even amidst the Great Depression. In Maycomb, a black man named Tom Robinson is
being sent to trial for raping a white woman. Due to this town being heavily populated by whites
and extremely racist, it was almost impossible for Tom Robinson to find a lawyer who would defend
him at trial. Atticus Finch agrees to defend Tom Robinson in court and causes the town to go into a
fury. Atticus's children, Scout and Jem, were even victims of abuse at school because of their father
and what he was doing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The community of Maycomb came together to form a mob and headed down the streets to find, and
lynch, Tom Robinson. Atticus Finch hears about this and confronts the mob by himself and is then
assisted by his children. Scout Finch begins to ask one of the members of the mob about his son and
this makes him shameful and he disperses the rest of the mob. As the court case begins, you can see
a clear divide between the citizens of Maycomb. All the attendants of the trial who are white are
allowed to sit on the main floor of the courthouse while all of the black members of the community
sit on the balcony designated for "coloreds." The most alarming aspect of the trial is that every
member of the jury is white. There is not a single black member in the jury even though there is a
population of black people in the community who should be considered the peers of the defendant as
well as the

Compare Tom Robinson Symbolize A Mockingbird
How Tom Robinson and Boo Radley Symbolize a Mockingbird
The novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee is one of the most well known books ever written
in America. Tom Robinson and Boo Radley, also known as Arthur Radley, are two of the most
important and symbolic characters in the book. They are important and symbolic because they
symbolize a mockingbird. In the book, Tom and Arthur did nothing wrong but people thought of
them in a bad way and were hurting them. It is a sin to kill a mockingbird. Mockingbirds are
innocent birds and they do hurt people and neither did Arthur Radley or Tom Robinson. This is why
Tom and Arthur resemble a mockingbird. Arthur Radley and Tom Robinson are significant
characters in the book. Arthur is said to be a strange man who lives at home and never comes out of
the house. People think he is a violent six feet tall scary man but in reality he is completely
harmless. Tom Robinson is a coloured man who is accused of raping a white woman named Mayella
Ewell. Tom Robinson however, is innocent and would never hurt anyone intentionally. Tom and
Arthur are both harmless. For example according to a quote from the book supposedly Arthur
stabbed his dad with scissors. "As Mr. Radley passed by, Boo drove the scissors into his parent's leg,
pulled them out, wiped them on his pants." This quote is obviously not true because once Arthur
comes into the book and meets the other characters he actually saves Scout from getting killed by
Bob Ewell. It's obvious that he would not hurt anyone if he saved her. Tom Robinson is also an
innocent character in the novel. Atticus proves in court that Tom is crippled in his left arm and
Mayella was beat on her left side so he couldn't of beaten or raped her. Even if he did rape her, why
would he go through all of that trouble to beat her with his right arm on the left side. Just because of
Tom's skin colour he lost the trial and Mayella and her Father Bob Ewell won. Clearly these two
characters are harmless and should be treated like everyone else. Arthur Radley and Tom Robinson
are both innocent people who are mistreated and misunderstood. As stated in the paragraph above,
Arthur and Tom are definitely innocent and honest. These characters are

Relationship Between Tom Robinson And Atticus
Ana Huajardo–Sartorius The Essay of Atticus and Tom Robinson In the novel, To Kill A
Mockingbird by Harper Lee, in a town called Maycomb, live two completely different people,
totally unaware of each other, until they aren't. Atticus Finch is a lawyer with two kids, Scout and
Jem Finch. The Finches are the family that originally founded Maycomb, so Atticus is very well
known. Tom Robinson is a African–American man who gets accused of raping Bob Ewell's
daughter, Mayella Ewell. Atticus is Tom's Robinson's lawyer for the case, sparking lots of
controversy between the two races, African Americans and Whites. It's hard for Atticus to accept the
case because Tom Robinson is an African–American man, so if Atticus were to accept the case, ...

In Chapter 18, Mayella Ewell accuses Atticus of mocking her when he was just trying to be polite.
Judge Taylor responds by saying, "'That's just Mr. Finch's way,' he told Mayella: 'We've done
business in this court for years and years and Mr. Finch is always courteous to everybody. He's not
trying to mock you, he's trying to be polite.'" (243) This shows that Atticus is polite and nice to
everyone he meets, including Mayella who lies, even in court. People often mistake his politeness
for mocking, like Mayella did since not a lot of people are polite to Ewell's. In Chapter 1, Atticus
defends two criminals, urging them to plead guilty so they could lead an easier life. It says, "Atticus
had urged them to accept the state's generosity in allowing them to plead Guilty to second–degree
murder and escape with their lives, but they were Haverfords, in Maycomb County a name
synonymous with jackass." (5) This shows that Atticus looks out for people, even people who are
wanted criminals and uneducated. Atticus tries to give them the opportunity for a better life than the
one they were raised up believing. Atticus was trying to make the Haverfords lives better because he
felt that no one, even criminals deserve that kind of pain. In Chapter 5, Atticus catches Dill, Scout,
and Jem sending a letter to Boo Radley, urging him to come out. It says, "Atticus took it and tried to
read it. 'Why do you want Mr. Radley to come out?' Dill said, 'We thought he might enjoy us...' and
dried up when Atticus looked at him. 'Son,' he said to Jem, 'I'm going to tell you something and tell
you one time: stop tormenting that man. That goes for the other two of you.'"(65) This shows that
Atticus understands things from the victim's perspective, instead of things from his own perspective.

Why Is Boo Radley Unfair
People are being treated and Judged unfair based on their outer appearance. In the book to kill a
mockingbird both Boo Radley and Tom Robinson were treated unfairly and stereotyped to be some
they were not . Through conflict ,character, and symbolism Harper lee shows the theme of many
seem to think to know who someone is based on who they appear to be on the outside therefore
many will get the wrong perspective of who that person truly is .
An Example that we can see this theme through conflict has been shown Tom Robinson case. Being
Black played a part of why everyone thought that he could have been the one to have raped and hit
Mayella. The whole town does not like that Atticus will be defending Tom " Your father's no better
than the niggers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the town's people Boo Radley is labelled as crazy and savage that murder everything that
came close and never came out . Jem and Scout believed the labels of the town about boo and were
scared when going past his house. Boo Radley confirms to be the exact opposite of what people
think when he saves Jem and scout from being hurt by Bob Ewell. Scout finally meets Boo Radley "
His lips parted into a timid smile, and our neighbor's image blurred with my sudden tears. " Hey
Boo', I said" Scout finally sees who Boo really is (362) . Boo was seen as crazy and savage because
he never came out and because of the labels the townspeople had put on him. When Scout meets
Boo after he saved them, she realizes that boo is not who he was labelled to be he was just shy and
did don't want to deal with talking to the townspeople . Scout realized she had done wrong when she
judged Boo for something he wasn't because she did the same that the town of maycomb did with
Tom Robinson judged without having a valid reason to.
In to kill a mockingbird harper lee shows us that we should not or label someone without knowing
who they are in reality. Through the conflict, Symbolism, and character, this theme is shown to be a
something that is dealt in the book. At the end of the book Scout shows us that we should not
believe what other's say they think someone is before knowing who they truly

What Is The Central Idea In To Kill A Mockingbird
In "To Kill A Mockingbird" Atticus (the father of scout) is defending a black guy (Tom Robinson)
accused of rapeing a white woman (Mayella Ewell) in court. Scout, her brother, and a few of their
friends Are suspicions about boo Radly and what he has done and the lynch mob trying to get Tom
Robinson. And the central idea is that there was a time of racism
During the trial Scout notices that Tom Robinsons arm is withered and that he couldn't do the crime
in the way Mayella Ewell said he did. Atticus calls only one witness which is Tom Robinson. Tom
tells the true story, being careful to not come right out and say that Mayella is lying. Tom makes a
mistake when he admits under cross–examination that he, a black man, felt sorry for Mayella

Critical Analysis of Edwin Arlington Robsin
Her Kisses Were the Keys to Paradise
Kaitlyn Cornell In Edwin Arlington Robinson's poetry, haunted houses sound like hanunted houses,
dark hills sound like dark hills, but to Robinson it goes beyond that. By the metaphors, images, and
emotion he puts into his writing, it is clear that he is feeling something beyond the paper and ink.
Many of his works are dark and melancholy and reflect something that may have happened in his
own life. There is a reoccuring theme that symbolizes his wife or significant other walking out on
him. Other poems reflect his feelings about that situation. Robinson shares with his readers the
anguish and recovery of the woman leaving him. .Perhaps Robinson's most famous poem, "Richard
Cory", tells the story of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"There she was always coming pretty soon/ To fool him back, with penitent scared eyes" is
Robinson's wife coming back in his dreams. The way he descroibes her as "the laughter of the
moon" and "her kisses her the keys the Paradise" shows how much he loves her. He mentions
"Faithful or not, he loved her all the same" which acknowledges that she has a flaw, but he still is in
awe around her. Also, he mentions her eyes once again which relates to "Her Eyes". Robinson uses
this poem to reflect on "that lonely night she fled" and expresses just how much he cares for her
even after she left. Similarly, "Another Dark Lady" uses Robinson as the speaker and he again says
that "she fled". He says "I cannot hate you, for I loved you then" which ties his feelings back to "The
Story of the Ashes and the Flame". Robinson expresses that she is still beautiful even after what she
has done to him and he still loves her when she is gone. In "The House on the Hill" Robinson
portrays his relationship with his wife through a house. "The House is shut and still, there is nothing
more to say" creates an image of an old boarded up house which symbolizes their relationship.
"Why is it then we stray/Around the sunken sill?" is Robinson saying that it is time to let go and
there is no use staying in the lifeless situation. Robinson, as the speaker, uses "they" as themselves
when he says "They are all gone away" in the sense that

Coming Of Age Experience In To Kill A Mockingbird By...
Everyone grows up. And a part of growing up is learning new things about the world around you.
But some people have more to learn than others. In Harper Lee's novel To Kill A Mockingbird,
Scout and Jem along with their friend, Dill, grow up in the small town of Maycomb, Alabama.
Scout, Jem and Dill experience events that change the way they look at the world. To Kill A
Mockingbird chronicles their coming of age experience. The trial of Tom Robinson, the kids
attempts to make contact with Boo Radley and Dill running away from home, all change the way the
kids look at the town and people around them.
One of the most important parts of the kids' journey of learning more about how the world around
them works is the trial of Tom Robinson. Even before the trial, the kids see the town's reaction to
Atticus taking up the case of Tom Robinson. The kids learn about some of the darker parts of their
community when they follow Atticus as he leaves in the middle of the night to go to the prison and
visit with Tom Robinson and sees the mob of men. "In ones ... Show more content on

Scout thinks it was Jem, as he was the only person with her in the dark when Bob Ewell attacked
them. But it soon is revealed that it was actually the elusive Boo Radley. "Atticus was right. One
time he said you never really know a man until you stand in his shoes and walk around in them. Just
standing on the Radley porch was enough"(Lee 374). Scout realizes that Boo isn't a monster as the
stories would suggest, he's just a normal person, even if he is a little different. It is unknown if Jem
or Dill ever meet Boo, as the book ends before we can find out, but seeing Boo Radley for the first
time is a growing experience for Scout as she meets the mysterious person that was at the center of
her childhood. She learns that some people are just different, and that's ok, but you have to learn to
understand them

What Are The Stereotypes In To Kill A Mockingbird
The stereotype, that heritage defines education, wellbeing, and personal character, portrays itself in a
non–loving manner in many situations. Defining racism specifically proves itself difficult, but
according to definition, "Racism is a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and
capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race." Harper
Lee writes a relatable depiction of this belief in To Kill A Mockingbird. Racism is an underlying
topic that appears throughout the book showing itself in the relationship between Aunt Alexandria
and Calpurnia, the hatred shown towards Tom Robinson, and also the discrimination shown to
Helen Robinson. Jesus says in Mark 12:31b, "Love your neighbor as yourself." If the world stood on
this commandment and portrayed the Father's love, racism would be no more
Aunt Alexandria showed Calpurnia, Scout and Jem's nanny, disrespect through the overall time she
stayed with the Finches. She thought that because Calpurnia's was African–American, she did not

The people of the United States see it in their own country as well as international affairs with others
worldwide. Harper Lee made the hatred shown towards the characters of other ethnicities real and
present. Calpurnia exemplified great determination and love, even though the disrespect of Aunt
Alexandria tried to sway her. Tom Robinson stayed a good man at heart and demonstrated courage
amongst the hatred of the court and even the fellow neighbors in Maycomb. Helen Robinson stayed
respectful and brave midst the judgement of her skin color from Mr. Ewell and others. Sadly, these
examples of racism in To Kill A Mockingbird are also illustrations of what goes on in the present
day. Let the nations rise up, love equally and unashamedly, and stand on the love of a powerful

Meet The Robinsons
Meet the Robinsons, a Disney and Pixar film, has turn out to be one of the most inspirational movies
that I have endlessly watched. Being a children's movie, I honestly did not expect for it to have such
a profound meaning, but you can find the utmost astounding things where you do not expect to. I am
glad I decided to watch this movie because it has motivated me to let go of the past and keep
moving forward. This movie is about a boy genius, Lewis Robinson, an orphan left by his mother as
an infant. Lewis cannot find a family to adopt him, but aspires to be a great inventor. As his
inventions continue to fail, and each family turns him down, he begins to doubt his abilities and his
significance. He later decides to invent a device ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Verizon Working Capital Ratio
Furthermore, such ratios facilitate them to determine the ability of a firm to raise additional debt.
The directors are mainly interested in the activity, efficiency or turnover ratios because they
facilitate them to appraise the effectiveness of the management team. Arguably, such ratios enable
the directors to examine the manner in which the management team is controlling expenses given
that they influence the return the organization will realize (Robinson). Finally, the suppliers are
mainly concerned about the liquidity ratios. It is largely because they examine whether a particular
firm has the capacity to meet it short term obligations. Notably, a substantive number of
organizations acquire products on credit basis and that implies that the suppliers will be keen on
making sure their clients have the ability to make payments in good time.
Current Ratio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ratio is calculated by contrasting current assets to current liabilities (Robinson). The rule of
thumb for this particular ratio is that an organization should maintain a minimum of $1 of current
assets for every $1 of current liabilities. A review of the two organizations confirms that the liquidity
of position of Verizon and Sprint has declined from 1.05 to 0.64 and 1.19 to 0.89 respectively in
2015 (Yahoo.com).
Working Capital
Similarly, the working capital ratio is a metric that is utilized for the purpose of appraising the
liquidity position of a commercial entity (Robinson). A review of the working capital of the two
companies confirms that they had a positive working capital in 2014, but a negative one in 2015
(Yahoo.com). The outcome suggests that the liquidity position of the organization has deteriorated.
Thus, the two commercial entities are likely to experience challenges with respect to meeting short–
term obligations.

Analysis Of ' It 's Like Everyone '
"It 's like everyone tells a story about themselves inside their own head. Always. All the time. That
story makes you what you are. We build ourselves out of that story" (Patrick RuthFuss). When a
baby is brought into this world, the only piece of identity it attains from its mother and father is its
name. The rest of the way through life, that person which has been given life, has to find their own
path and their own identity. Although parents teach very dignified lessons of values, it is up to
him/her to establish if they want to adopt the ideals of his/her parents. Lisa Hill from Monkey Beach

car full of white men verbally harassing her. Lisa then stepped in to stand up to the men while Erica
called her bigger brother. During that whole ordeal there were many bystanders who did not lend a
hand. Later that day, Lisa went to go meet her aunt Trudy when she told her that " If you were some
little white girl, that would be true, but you're a mouthy Indian, and everyone thinks we're born sluts.
Those guys would have said you were asking for it and hot off scot–free" (Robinson, 255). Although
Lisa was just trying to protect her friend, no one decided to stand up to the white men and help a
teenage girl although there were many people watching. This displays the inequality that the regular
man feels towards the Indians. Furthermore, when Lisa's aunt Trudy was just a small teenager
herself, Lisa's grandmother was forced to send her away to a residential school because she was an
Indian. Trudy did not realize this and put her blame and hate on her mother cause a rift between her
and her mother. If Indian children were allowed to go to regular public schools and had equality
between different ways of life, the fissure between a mother and a daughter would not have been
created. Along with that Eden Robinson also fought for the equality for

Analysis Of The Movie Meet The Robinsons
I believe that the film Meet the Robinsons is the best story. The reason being is because of the
illustrations and characters Walt Disney studios gives them. Also, this story I feel relates to
everyone's lives because it displays true things that happen to people every day. One thing that this
story has that makes it the best story in my opinion is the moral of the story. It teaches us a very
important moral to "Keep Moving Forward." Therefore, I feel that the story Meet the Robinsons is
the greatest story ever made. First, the plot of the story is imaginative and keeps the viewer
interested. The story is about a 12–year–old orphan named Lewis at first tries to find his real mother
by creating an invention which helps him scan the user's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Writer, Kasey Stobaugh, also tells us that "it's Goob that truly makes the movie. Old and young, I
believe every single person can relate to Goob and his negative but hopeful mindset. Let's face it:
there are days where we just feel like spewing a rant that sounds similar to; 'No! Everyone will tell
you to let it go and move on, but don't! Instead, let it fester and boil inside of you! Take these
feelings and lock them away. Let them fuel your actions. Let hate be your ally, and you will be
capable of wonderful, horrid things. Heed my words, Goob! Don't let it go.' "
(www.moviepilot.com). I personally feel I can connect to Goob because I have also let things bother
me constantly and never get over it and to try to use this as some sort of motive for me. However, I
realized that in the long run, it is not a healthy decision to let things bother you and to hold grudges,
but rather to let it go and keep moving forward. Hence, the characters of this story are relatable to
everyone and thus makes a story that is relatable for everyone so they don't feel that they are alone
in what they are dealing with. I feel that what makes this story the best is the moral of it. The moral
of this story that Disney tries to convey to us is to keep moving forward. Even though we may hit
points in our lives where we feel that everything is hopeless and that we should just give up, this
film tells us that we shouldn't give up as there is always another way. When Lewis's

Ethical Issues Related To The PCBH Model

Midwestern University, Glendale
Reaction Paper #1
Chapter 13 in Behavioral Consultation and Primary Care: A Guide to Integrating Services discusses
common ethical concerns that arise within the Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) model.
Robinson and Reiter (2016) illustrate these common concerns through artificial case examples that
address issues related to competence, informed consent, and confidentiality. Each of these ethical
concerns are found within any field of psychology; however, the paradigm shift that the PCBH
model reflects leads to several new questions regarding these issues. Robinson and Reiter (2016)
discussed these ethical topics particularly related to the PCBH model. The first case illustrated by
Robinson and Reiter (2016) pertains to competence within the PCBH model. Specific guidelines are
provided to demonstrate how a psychologist can gain competence within different subsects

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Speech By Ken Robinson
In this video Ken Robinson touches on three main points. His first point he was talking about the
education system and one's creativity. He gave two anecdotes about kids that showed that they are
willing to take a chance and be creative. If you're not prepared to be wrong, you'll never come up
with anything original. He believes that the education system institutionalizes people, and that
people lose the creativity they had. Ken Robinson's goes onto his second point, How every
education system has the same Hierarchy when it comes to subjects. At the top is math and language
arts, followed by the humantanties, and at the bottom is Arts. He explains how there is a lack of

Theme Of Appearance Vs Reality In To Kill A Mockingbird
There is always more than what meets the eye; always two sides of the same coin. As astutely put by
Atticus Finch, "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of
view, [...] until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it." In Harper Lee's To Kill a
Mockingbird, the theme of hidden depths and appearance versus reality is pivotal to the
development of both the characters and the plot. The Tom Robinson trial, the events surrounding it,
and the mystery surrounding Boo Radley are prime examples of how appearance may not always
reflect reality, and that one should never base their judgment on another person based on what they

Because of one violent incident in the past, the children see him as a "malevolent phantom", one that
terrorizes the city and commits numerous small crimes while hidden in the darkness of the night.
Like Tom Robinson, he too fell victim to Maycomb's way of passing judgment based on appearance,
and was known as a sociopathic delinquent for most of his time living in the town. Despite
remaining unseen for most of the novel, Boo is shown to have hidden depths; he covers Scout with a
blanket to comfort her after Miss Maudie's house burns down, and risks his life to save the children
during an altercation with Bob Ewell. This is where Scout finally realizes that Boo was not the
"malevolent phantom" she had thought him to be: she says, "Atticus, he was real nice," to which
Atticus replies, "Most people are, Scout, when you finally see them." His underlying friendliness
and childlike tendencies are foreshadowed when he leaves small gifts for the children in the tree
hole, and when Jem returns to the Radley field to find his pants folded and crookedly stitched. It is

To Kill A Mockingbird Inhumanity And Oppression Essay
Oppression: When Will It Stop? If all the world's events were put into one dramatic continuing
timeline, it is sad to say that there would be more examples of bad than good. A person looking at
the timeline would see bloodshed and tears where oppression and inhumanity were prominent.
Major incidents would stand out: the Civil Rights Movement and segregation, and the harsh ways
colored people were treated; the Holocaust, and all the blood of the Jews that were slain; and the
Rwandan Genocide, with brother fighting and killing brother, and friend fighting and killing friend.
These events keep happening in the world's history due to an invisible force that pushes them:
inhumanity and oppression. Oppression is the unjust or cruel exercise of authority or power. Most
times, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Any situation or place where inequity is practiced, no matter how big or how small, is an act of
inhumanity. Inhumanity was, is, and will be around for as long as human beings inhabit Earth.
Inhumanity and oppression are present in vivid detail in the events surrounding the books To Kill a
Mockingbird by Harper Lee and Night by Elie Wiesel; it is also prominent in modern day genocides,
such as the Rwandan Genocide in Africa; however, all three, no matter how different or similar they
are, do the same thing– leave giant scars in our history. Inequality and the clear segregation between
black and white man is powerfully portrayed in Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. During the
trial, when Tom Robinson is explaining what really happened, it is revealed that Mayella Ewell
kissed Tom Robinson and is accusing him of raping her as a cover–up story out of the shame she is
feeling. She used her authority as a white woman to accuse an innocent black man and everyone
believed her, simply based off the fact that Tom Robinson was a black man. It was as if this kind of
behavior and crime was expected out of him. Sadly, it is a true statement to say that "Tom was a

Innovation Placement Of A Good Or Service Into The Market...
Innovation placement of a good or service into the market that patrons can buy (Pearce & Robinson,
2011, p. 371). There are 2 types of innovation that a firm can experience which include incremental
and breakthrough. It's important of organizations and leaders to aware of the associated differences
and risks involved as one fuels the other. The following essay will discuss the aforementioned
characteristics. There are a few difference between the innovation types. First, incremental
innovation is the act of making small, simple changes to products, services or processes, whereas,
breakthrough innovation is an out of the ordinary development that create a new product or market
(Pearce & Robinson, 2011, p. 371). Typically, incremental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Another difference is that incremental innovation is discovered on the demand side of the value
chain, whereas, breakthrough is created on the supply side (Marshall, 2013). This is because
incremental innovation is a response to customer needs or wants as they are already familiar with
the product, hence, the demand sparks the supply side of the value chain. There are a few risks
associated with both incremental and breakthrough innovation. With incremental innovation, lack of
coordination and time, lack of trained employees, not choosing the correct ideas, not enough
customer insight, poor planning, and incentives are not tied to innovation, and support not given to
employees by management could cause the innovation process to be unsuccessful (Kadareja, 2013).
In my opinion, these risk could be minimized because the company has the most control over these
risks. For instance, a company can train/ hire knowledgeable individuals, as well as, support and
incentivizes employees. On the other hand, breakthrough innovation are not as manageable in my
opinion. These risks include: availability of and high development cost, unknown demand in the
market, economic risk, long development times, competitive pressure or market is dominated by an
existing business, copy right issues, and ability to meet regulatory statutes (Kadareja, 2013). For

A Review of the Educational System
Failures in the American Education System
Changes such as shifting the majority of the power and influence away from the department to the
teachers, are important to the educational system. Individualism is a key factor in achieving
educational success. The American Educational System (AES) needs to not only address each
individual student and their needs, but also each teacher and how they are approaching their subject
matter. The AES also needs to fix the problems that the No Child Left Behind Grant (NCLBG) and
standardized testing have created. Also, the AES needs to modernize the educational system and
create a learning environment the enables rather than hinders new generation learners.
In an interview with Ken Robinson by A. M. Azzam for the journal Educational Leadership, the
topic of creativity in American education. is discussed. The modern era of teaching has killed of
creative thinking. Because the current thinking within the educational system has essentially become
"Creative thinking is, in all practical uses, the opposite of critical thinking;" the American education
is in a constant struggle to gain students' attention and passion.
Ken Robinson believes that creativity should work to promote and encourage critical thinking
within young learners. Rather than being the opposite of critical thinking, he thinks that creativity is
thinking divergently. He thinks that by innovating the way society views creativity, we can bring it
to the classroom. Teachers could

paid to the social dynamics. For instance, if the organization adapts and changes to social factors
such as the beliefs, values, attitudes and lifestyles of the customers, the organization will be
successful with achieving a strategy focused on customer intimacy, whereas, if they do not they will
fail (Pearce & Robinson, 2011, p. 186). In order for a firm to evaluate the external environment, I
feel the leaders should be mindful of the opportunities and threats of the SWOT analysis as this will
give them an idea adopt a turnaround, defensive or diversification strategies (Pearce & Robinson,
2011, p. 142). The internal environment also can influence or impact a corporation's long term
objectives and strategies. The internal environment notes elements inside the organization that
impact the approach and success the operation by effectively motivating employees through the
mission statement, leadership style, and culture (Kokemuller, 2015). In order for a firm to evaluate
the internal environment, I feel they should consider the strengths and weakness associated with the
SWOT analysis as this will give them an idea on areas the company needs to right size or
components it should capitalize on (Pearce & Robinson, 2011,

What Makes A Business Transaction?
A business transaction involves one selling a product to someone that wants or needs it as a business
or personal asset. A mutual agreement is reached on the price, and at some point, the product
exchanges hand either directly or indirectly through some means of transferring or transporting. As
the firm grows locally, nationally, or internationally, transportation and distribution assistance is
required to meet consumer demands. Here is where the demand for transportation and logistics
begins with a business that may involve importing and exporting supplies required for production,
and ends with a consumer receiving products purchased. (Dowlatshahi, 2010), describes inbound
and outbound transportation performance as simply achieving scheduled delivery times which
displays the firm's commitment to satisfy consumer expectations. The transportation and logistics
industry has specific features and resources designed to meet any consumer shipping needs. This
requires strongest competitors to harvest a strategic approach to maximize opportunities to work
with all customers, and showcase the values offered by the firm and the industry. This methodology
is one that is intended to build or strengthen a brand, and retain and attract new consumers. "In order
to attract customers and make them pay the price of the product, the company should be good at
understanding what customers' needs and requirements are, and produce products that really want"
(Attia & Hooley, 2007, p. 95).

What Is The Immorality Theme In To Kill A Mockingbird
Immorality is a theme that is clearly brought out in this short story, it is the acts of doing things that

in bringing out this theme of immorality and it is very evident that in all their action immorality is

when Mr.Radley makes an appearance and stabs their attacker. Even though Mr. Radley kills a man
he is not tried for murder because he was defending the Scout and her brother. In my opinion, this is
more injustice, because another attacker is not in trouble. Prejudice is a major theme in To Kill a

journalist, Wendell Smith, that followed Robinson around knew. Although Robinson was away from
the rest of the team, his wife Rachel was allowed to stay with him. The fans would often disrespect
Robinson as well, while in the stand they would often throw things at him. Fans did not just throw
things at him but Robinson often got death threats. The fans started to Respect Robinson when they

Robinson respected Reese for showing that he really was on Robinson's side, he would often walk

Strategic Initiatives : Sonoco Products Company
Strategic Initiatives: Sonoco Products Company
Nowadays, companies face fierce competition in the marketplace due to the demands of consumers'
buying habits and what shareholders expect of the company to deliver as long–term strategies.
However, gain market leadership, corporations must restructure how they assess employee
performance and what is their product seller, but human resources (HR) has to be cautious of the
culture of how business has always been done over the years. By looking at the case study on
Sonoco Products Company, the vice president (VP) of HR, Cindy Hartley, found areas within the
organization lacking in executing strategic initiatives in succession planning, employee
development, a compensation system based on job ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The advantage of this approach is the cost–effectiveness of administrative work and other processes;
however, the disadvantage is that each business's individual needs and interests have fewer
opportunities for direct alignment (Thomas et al., 2010).
On the other hand, a hybrid organization would cost Sonoco $2.7 million to allow divisions have
some contact in the staffing, compensation and benefits, personnel programs, and succession
planning (Thomas et al., 2010). The positive side of this structure is that divisional management can
still call on HR for help, but the negative aspect is convincing others across the corporation to buy–
in to this structure change (Thomas et al., 2010). Given both points of view for both options, a
hybrid structure would make more sense due to the cost of the structure and meet each divisions'
needs without losing HR support. All in all, there are three other reasons a hybrid would work to
Sonoco's advantage.
First of all, hybrid–structured HR organizations for Sonoco will have three key people in each of the
two divisions: a VP of HR, a director of compensation and development for the organization, and a
director of employee relations to ensure the right people are in the right positions (Thomas et al.,
2010). These three key people will come together to collaborate on planning and talent management,
linking business needs to general management and significant personnel to their assigned branch,
and field HR

Meet The Robinsons: Disney And Pixar
Meet the Robinsons, a Disney and Pixar film, has become one of the most inspirational movies that
I have ever watched. Being a children's movie, I honestly did not expect for it to have such deep
meaning, but you can find the most amazing things where you do not expect to. This movie is about
a boy genius, Lewis Robinson, an orphan left by his mother as an infant. Lewis cannot find a family
to adopt him, but aspires to be a great inventor. As his inventions continue to fail, and each family
turns him down, he begins to doubt his abilities and his significance. He later decides to invent a
device that can help him find his mother. Since no one knows who his mother is or what she looks
like, he realizes he only has a memory of her as

Jackie Robinson Baseball Quotes
Jackie Robinson a Baseball Legend Jackie once said: "A life is not important except in the impact it
has on other lives." This quote shows that his life is not important unless it impacts other people and
that Jackie cares about other people in life not just himself. Jackie changed the world positively by
breaking the color barrier, being a baseball hero, a name for blacks, becoming the first black player
Major League Baseball, and many more ways to come.
Early life of Jackie Robinson. "Jackie Robinson was the fifth child born to Mallie Robinson and
Jerry Robinson" (Paul 1). This quote explains Jackie was not the only child."1941 Jackie dropped

("Robinson" 3). This quote shows that the General Manager of the Dodgers knew that there would

Comparing Segregation In 42 And Jim Crow Law

  • 1. Comparing Segregation In 42 And Jim Crow Law "Maybe tomorrow, we'll all wear 42, so nobody could tell us apart." ("42" 01:42:52–56) General Manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers, Branch Rickey, decided to draft Jackie Robinson into the baseball team. Rickey knew the negative feedback he would receive and he refused to let society make the decision for him. Therefore, he went seeking for a baseball player who could meet his standards, physically and mentally. While some differences between Brian Helgelands movie 42 and the segregation in society and the Jim Crow laws are evident, the similarities are striking. Segregation is the separation of people in an activity, or any association with groups, in the movie 42 there is a scene showing a hotel refusing to let the Brooklyn Dodgers enter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A scene is displayed in the film where a teammate of Robinson told the players to accept the fact Robinson is going to play with them because all he is trying to do is play baseball. This player showed how segregation should not prevent a player from remaining on a team, the decision should change their opinions on the inequality in baseball. After a game another teammate of Robinson casually approaches Robinson and discusses the fact of him not showering with the other teammates. Robinson mentions his reason, which is, he decided to not shower with them because he does not want his teammates to feel uncomfortable. His teammate shows how a person of any color can get along, people should not be generalized off their skin color because they are just like everyone else. Robinson's teammates show how segregation should not determine whether someone should or should not do an activity, or job. This decision can be based off of other qualities, and benefits an organization would have if they hired the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. How Does Atticus Change In To Kill A Mockingbird "To Kill A Mockingbird" is set in the small town of Maycomb, Alabama during the Great Depression. The main character in the film is Atticus Finch. Atticus Finch is a highly respected lawyer in Maycomb and is relatively financially–stable compared to the rest of the people in his community, even amidst the Great Depression. In Maycomb, a black man named Tom Robinson is being sent to trial for raping a white woman. Due to this town being heavily populated by whites and extremely racist, it was almost impossible for Tom Robinson to find a lawyer who would defend him at trial. Atticus Finch agrees to defend Tom Robinson in court and causes the town to go into a fury. Atticus's children, Scout and Jem, were even victims of abuse at school because of their father and what he was doing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The community of Maycomb came together to form a mob and headed down the streets to find, and lynch, Tom Robinson. Atticus Finch hears about this and confronts the mob by himself and is then assisted by his children. Scout Finch begins to ask one of the members of the mob about his son and this makes him shameful and he disperses the rest of the mob. As the court case begins, you can see a clear divide between the citizens of Maycomb. All the attendants of the trial who are white are allowed to sit on the main floor of the courthouse while all of the black members of the community sit on the balcony designated for "coloreds." The most alarming aspect of the trial is that every member of the jury is white. There is not a single black member in the jury even though there is a population of black people in the community who should be considered the peers of the defendant as well as the ... • 5. Compare Tom Robinson Symbolize A Mockingbird How Tom Robinson and Boo Radley Symbolize a Mockingbird The novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee is one of the most well known books ever written in America. Tom Robinson and Boo Radley, also known as Arthur Radley, are two of the most important and symbolic characters in the book. They are important and symbolic because they symbolize a mockingbird. In the book, Tom and Arthur did nothing wrong but people thought of them in a bad way and were hurting them. It is a sin to kill a mockingbird. Mockingbirds are innocent birds and they do hurt people and neither did Arthur Radley or Tom Robinson. This is why Tom and Arthur resemble a mockingbird. Arthur Radley and Tom Robinson are significant characters in the book. Arthur is said to be a strange man who lives at home and never comes out of the house. People think he is a violent six feet tall scary man but in reality he is completely harmless. Tom Robinson is a coloured man who is accused of raping a white woman named Mayella Ewell. Tom Robinson however, is innocent and would never hurt anyone intentionally. Tom and Arthur are both harmless. For example according to a quote from the book supposedly Arthur stabbed his dad with scissors. "As Mr. Radley passed by, Boo drove the scissors into his parent's leg, pulled them out, wiped them on his pants." This quote is obviously not true because once Arthur comes into the book and meets the other characters he actually saves Scout from getting killed by Bob Ewell. It's obvious that he would not hurt anyone if he saved her. Tom Robinson is also an innocent character in the novel. Atticus proves in court that Tom is crippled in his left arm and Mayella was beat on her left side so he couldn't of beaten or raped her. Even if he did rape her, why would he go through all of that trouble to beat her with his right arm on the left side. Just because of Tom's skin colour he lost the trial and Mayella and her Father Bob Ewell won. Clearly these two characters are harmless and should be treated like everyone else. Arthur Radley and Tom Robinson are both innocent people who are mistreated and misunderstood. As stated in the paragraph above, Arthur and Tom are definitely innocent and honest. These characters are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Relationship Between Tom Robinson And Atticus Ana Huajardo–Sartorius The Essay of Atticus and Tom Robinson In the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, in a town called Maycomb, live two completely different people, totally unaware of each other, until they aren't. Atticus Finch is a lawyer with two kids, Scout and Jem Finch. The Finches are the family that originally founded Maycomb, so Atticus is very well known. Tom Robinson is a African–American man who gets accused of raping Bob Ewell's daughter, Mayella Ewell. Atticus is Tom's Robinson's lawyer for the case, sparking lots of controversy between the two races, African Americans and Whites. It's hard for Atticus to accept the case because Tom Robinson is an African–American man, so if Atticus were to accept the case, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Chapter 18, Mayella Ewell accuses Atticus of mocking her when he was just trying to be polite. Judge Taylor responds by saying, "'That's just Mr. Finch's way,' he told Mayella: 'We've done business in this court for years and years and Mr. Finch is always courteous to everybody. He's not trying to mock you, he's trying to be polite.'" (243) This shows that Atticus is polite and nice to everyone he meets, including Mayella who lies, even in court. People often mistake his politeness for mocking, like Mayella did since not a lot of people are polite to Ewell's. In Chapter 1, Atticus defends two criminals, urging them to plead guilty so they could lead an easier life. It says, "Atticus had urged them to accept the state's generosity in allowing them to plead Guilty to second–degree murder and escape with their lives, but they were Haverfords, in Maycomb County a name synonymous with jackass." (5) This shows that Atticus looks out for people, even people who are wanted criminals and uneducated. Atticus tries to give them the opportunity for a better life than the one they were raised up believing. Atticus was trying to make the Haverfords lives better because he felt that no one, even criminals deserve that kind of pain. In Chapter 5, Atticus catches Dill, Scout, and Jem sending a letter to Boo Radley, urging him to come out. It says, "Atticus took it and tried to read it. 'Why do you want Mr. Radley to come out?' Dill said, 'We thought he might enjoy us...' and dried up when Atticus looked at him. 'Son,' he said to Jem, 'I'm going to tell you something and tell you one time: stop tormenting that man. That goes for the other two of you.'"(65) This shows that Atticus understands things from the victim's perspective, instead of things from his own perspective. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Why Is Boo Radley Unfair People are being treated and Judged unfair based on their outer appearance. In the book to kill a mockingbird both Boo Radley and Tom Robinson were treated unfairly and stereotyped to be some they were not . Through conflict ,character, and symbolism Harper lee shows the theme of many seem to think to know who someone is based on who they appear to be on the outside therefore many will get the wrong perspective of who that person truly is . An Example that we can see this theme through conflict has been shown Tom Robinson case. Being Black played a part of why everyone thought that he could have been the one to have raped and hit Mayella. The whole town does not like that Atticus will be defending Tom " Your father's no better than the niggers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through the town's people Boo Radley is labelled as crazy and savage that murder everything that came close and never came out . Jem and Scout believed the labels of the town about boo and were scared when going past his house. Boo Radley confirms to be the exact opposite of what people think when he saves Jem and scout from being hurt by Bob Ewell. Scout finally meets Boo Radley " His lips parted into a timid smile, and our neighbor's image blurred with my sudden tears. " Hey Boo', I said" Scout finally sees who Boo really is (362) . Boo was seen as crazy and savage because he never came out and because of the labels the townspeople had put on him. When Scout meets Boo after he saved them, she realizes that boo is not who he was labelled to be he was just shy and did don't want to deal with talking to the townspeople . Scout realized she had done wrong when she judged Boo for something he wasn't because she did the same that the town of maycomb did with Tom Robinson judged without having a valid reason to. In to kill a mockingbird harper lee shows us that we should not or label someone without knowing who they are in reality. Through the conflict, Symbolism, and character, this theme is shown to be a something that is dealt in the book. At the end of the book Scout shows us that we should not believe what other's say they think someone is before knowing who they truly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is The Central Idea In To Kill A Mockingbird In "To Kill A Mockingbird" Atticus (the father of scout) is defending a black guy (Tom Robinson) accused of rapeing a white woman (Mayella Ewell) in court. Scout, her brother, and a few of their friends Are suspicions about boo Radly and what he has done and the lynch mob trying to get Tom Robinson. And the central idea is that there was a time of racism During the trial Scout notices that Tom Robinsons arm is withered and that he couldn't do the crime in the way Mayella Ewell said he did. • 13. Critical Analysis of Edwin Arlington Robsin Her Kisses Were the Keys to Paradise Kaitlyn Cornell In Edwin Arlington Robinson's poetry, haunted houses sound like hanunted houses, dark hills sound like dark hills, but to Robinson it goes beyond that. By the metaphors, images, and emotion he puts into his writing, it is clear that he is feeling something beyond the paper and ink. Many of his works are dark and melancholy and reflect something that may have happened in his own life. There is a reoccuring theme that symbolizes his wife or significant other walking out on him. The way he descroibes her as "the laughter of the moon" and "her kisses her the keys the Paradise" shows how much he loves her. He mentions "Faithful or not, he loved her all the same" which acknowledges that she has a flaw, but he still is in awe around her. Also, he mentions her eyes once again which relates to "Her Eyes". Robinson uses this poem to reflect on "that lonely night she fled" and expresses just how much he cares for her even after she left. Similarly, "Another Dark Lady" uses Robinson as the speaker and he again says that "she fled". He says "I cannot hate you, for I loved you then" which ties his feelings back to "The Story of the Ashes and the Flame". Robinson expresses that she is still beautiful even after what she has done to him and he still loves her when she is gone. In "The House on the Hill" Robinson portrays his relationship with his wife through a house. "The House is shut and still, there is nothing more to say" creates an image of an old boarded up house which symbolizes their relationship. "Why is it then we stray/Around the sunken sill?" is Robinson saying that it is time to let go and there is no use staying in the lifeless situation. • 15. Coming Of Age Experience In To Kill A Mockingbird By... Everyone grows up. And a part of growing up is learning new things about the world around you. But some people have more to learn than others. In Harper Lee's novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Scout and Jem along with their friend, Dill, grow up in the small town of Maycomb, Alabama. Scout, Jem and Dill experience events that change the way they look at the world. To Kill A Mockingbird chronicles their coming of age experience. The trial of Tom Robinson, the kids attempts to make contact with Boo Radley and Dill running away from home, all change the way the kids look at the town and people around them. One of the most important parts of the kids' journey of learning more about how the world around them works is the trial of Tom Robinson. Even before the trial, the kids see the town's reaction to Atticus taking up the case of Tom Robinson. Just standing on the Radley porch was enough"(Lee 374). Scout realizes that Boo isn't a monster as the stories would suggest, he's just a normal person, even if he is a little different. It is unknown if Jem or Dill ever meet Boo, as the book ends before we can find out, but seeing Boo Radley for the first time is a growing experience for Scout as she meets the mysterious person that was at the center of her childhood. What Are The Stereotypes In To Kill A Mockingbird The stereotype, that heritage defines education, wellbeing, and personal character, portrays itself in a non–loving manner in many situations. Defining racism specifically proves itself difficult, but according to definition, "Racism is a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race." Harper Lee writes a relatable depiction of this belief in To Kill A Mockingbird. Racism is an underlying topic that appears throughout the book showing itself in the relationship between Aunt Alexandria and Calpurnia, the hatred shown towards Tom Robinson, and also the discrimination shown to Helen Robinson. Jesus says in Mark 12:31b, "Love your neighbor as yourself." If the world stood on this commandment and portrayed the Father's love, racism would be no more Aunt Alexandria showed Calpurnia, Scout and Jem's nanny, disrespect through the overall time she stayed with the Finches. The reason being is because of the illustrations and characters Walt Disney studios gives them. Also, this story I feel relates to everyone's lives because it displays true things that happen to people every day. One thing that this story has that makes it the best story in my opinion is the moral of the story. It teaches us a very important moral to "Keep Moving Forward." Therefore, I feel that the story Meet the Robinsons is the greatest story ever made. First, the plot of the story is imaginative and keeps the viewer interested. The story is about a 12–year–old orphan named Lewis at first tries to find his real mother by creating an invention which helps him scan the user's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead, let it fester and boil inside of you! Take these feelings and lock them away. Let them fuel your actions. Let hate be your ally, and you will be capable of wonderful, horrid things. Heed my words, Goob! Don't let it go.' " (www.moviepilot.com). I personally feel I can connect to Goob because I have also let things bother me constantly and never get over it and to try to use this as some sort of motive for me. However, I realized that in the long run, it is not a healthy decision to let things bother you and to hold grudges, but rather to let it go and keep moving forward. Hence, the characters of this story are relatable to everyone and thus makes a story that is relatable for everyone so they don't feel that they are alone in what they are dealing with. I feel that what makes this story the best is the moral of it. The moral of this story that Disney tries to convey to us is to keep moving forward. This is where Scout finally realizes that Boo was not the "malevolent phantom" she had thought him to be: she says, "Atticus, he was real nice," to which Atticus replies, "Most people are, Scout, when you finally see them." His underlying friendliness and childlike tendencies are foreshadowed when he leaves small gifts for the children in the tree hole, and when Jem returns to the Radley field to find his pants folded and crookedly stitched.
