Advantages And Disadvantages Of Heat Pump
The above diagrams illustrates how easy it is to utilise the key components but to reverse the
process i.e. to pump heat out rather than in, thus becoming an 'air conditioning' unit (more correctly
called a cooling unit).
All the main components remain same with just the flow reversed (via the 4 way reversing valves)
and some additional minor components (e.g. check valves and specific expansion valve).
Simultaneous heating and cooling
The Heat Pump can be designed and configured as a multi mode machine.
 To generate only hot water from ambient air
 To simultaneously generate hot water and cooling energy.
 To generate only cooling for comfort
Hotels and hospitals continuously need air–conditioning, and therefore on a multimode ... Show

Water–to–Water (W–W).
Water–to–Air (W–A).
Water Source (iii. & iv.) can be further subdivided:
a. Closed Loop: this is the most common form of "Ground source" system when buried.
b. Open Loop: much less common than closed loop ground source (e.g. ground Aquifer; open lake,
river or sea).
This sort of unit designation would lead to better description and slightly less confusion. It also
highlights that the key difference between water source heat pumps which work on closed and open
loops in the ground is the temperature they work at rather than the medium itself (which is the same
– water).
3 Based on Motive / generating power input.
Heat pumps are also sometimes designated by the fuel source used to drive the process which is
most usually electricity (>95%), less commonly natural gas and much less commonly LPG.
4. Based on Operating Temperature
For heat pumps generating hot water in their condensers (i.e. Air– or Water– to Water units) another
sub description is the flow temperature capability.
BS EN 14511–2011 "high temperature" heat pumps they are often referred to Very High
Temperature i.e. >65°C.
For heat pumps producing warm air the temperature should not drop below 38°C to prevent risk of

Sherman Argumentative Essay
After a hot bath the next morning, Sherman went to the Robe Cleaning and Repair
Shop. He asked the big angel to repair the huge hole left by that silly dog. Then he went to the
Map Store so he could to plan their next trip to Earth. He called Mugsie and Topsie together.
"Since we have so many places left to search for Peewee's home and so little time, let's
split them up and fly to each place alone. We can't search every city, but we can make a list
and fly to a lot of them.
"Okay with us," chimed Mugsie and Topsie.
"Well," said Sherman, "when you look at a globe of Earth, you see lots of water and
seven big pieces of land called con–ti– nents." Even Sherman had trouble with that word. "We're

She pulled out her map one more time. Wow. Three more countries. That's lots of
flying.
Just then, Mugise phoned. " I'm finished with my continent. Need any help"?
"Yes! Italy and Germany. That gives me time to fly back north to Ireland."
Hours later, when Topsie landed in Ireland, she thought it was the greenest country she
had ever seen. Fields of grass everywhere! Peewee would love this. She looked in window
after window. Everyone with a pet had a dog. No cat owners except for a few old ladies.
After awhile, she flew to another part of Ireland, one with caves. They dotted the
shoreline near a lovely sea. Suddenly, Topsie heard a whisper from inside one of them.
"Psst. Psst."
Topsie whirled around and saw a tiny man dressed in green. She knew at once that he
was a leprechaun. Sherman had told her they were not real at all. But there he was in front of
her!
"Hi," said Topsie. "Did you want something?"
The leprechaun giggled. "Bet you can't catch me," he said. "If you do, you'll get a pot of
gold."
"Look," said Topsie, "I just need to know if any Irish kids want a

Analysis Of Alice Munro 's ' How I Met My Husband '
"How I Met My Husband" by Alice Munro is a short story about Edie, a fifteenth year old girl, who
works at Dr. Peebles and Mrs.Peebles house taking care of their children, cleaning the house,
preparing the vegetables and occasionally baking desserts. One day they heard a plane pass by, and
they ran into the yard to look. Their neighbor Loretta Bird mentioned that the plane was close to
hitting their house and began to talk about the plane. She also specified that the pilot received
permission to use the fairgrounds and give residents rides to see the neighborhood from above. The
next day when Edie finished her tasks early, she sometimes would look at Mrs. Peebles' clothes and
even tried on a dress and put makeup on. She headed to the kitchen to drink ginger ale and gets
startled by a man, named Chris Watters, standing outside the door. He mentions he 's the pilot of the
plane and asks if he can obtain some water from the pump. He complimented and thanked her and
left to the pump. After she rushed to take off the dress and wash her face before Mrs. Peebles arrived
to the house. Mrs. Peebles commenced to ask questions about the man, but Edie contemplated on
becoming fired if the man revealed how she dressed. After the Dr. and Mrs. Peebles departed to the
theater, Edie ensured the children were sleeping then headed outside. She desired to talk to Chris to
make sure he wouldn 't say anything about her dressed up. He assured he wouldn 't reveal anything
and offered her a

Cj Industries and Heavey Pumps – Discussion Questions Essay
CJ Industries and Heavey Pumps – Discussion Questions 1. What are all the issues here, from both
CJI's and Heavey's perspectives, that need to be researched by Mr. Ashby?
CJ Industries (CJI)
The first issue presented for CJ Industries was its contract with Great Lakes. Though CJI had
sufficient excess capacity to ramp up production on the parts to be supplied in the Great Lakes'
contract, they were not sure about the ability or willingness of Heavey Pumps to increase their
production of the bilge pumps. The problem is that CJ Industries had signed the contract with Great
Lakes prior to any discussions about ramping up production with Heavey Pumps.
The next issue for CJ Industries was whether or not Heavey Pumps could guarantee ... Show more
content on Helpwriting.net ...
With about nine months remaining until the contact start date, Heavey Pumps would need to look at
their existing customer orders to see if they had enough capacity to quadruple production of bilge
pumps for CJ Industries.
Furthermore, Heavey Pumps would need to evaluate the costs associated with this contract (i.e.
labor, production, warehousing, purchasing, transportation, etc.) to determine a new unit price for
the bilge pumps associated with CJ Industries contract.
Finally, as with CJ Industries' cost benefit analysis, Heavey Pumps ought to decide if they should
continue to service CJ Industries. If so, perhaps consider changing from their current informal,
noncontract basis to a more long–term agreement.
2. Should CJI continue to use Heavey to supply pumps, should they make them in–house, should
they consider one of the other suppliers, or should they do some combination of these alternatives?
Discuss the advantages, disadvantages, and risks of each of these alternatives.
Option 1 – continue to use Heavey Pumps. This would be probably the easiest decision since
Heavey Pumps had been a reliable supplier for CJI for a number of years. This is also contingent on
Heavey Pumps and the issues discussed above, i.e. quality and performance, price, delivery timing
and volume requirements. The disadvantage would be CJ Industries may need to consider another
supplier which might not prove to be as reliable.

Should Groundwater Be Regulated Essay
Groundwater: Should It Be Regulated? Imagine not having water. What's life without having water?
There's no more taking showers or washing the dishes or anything that involves water. Life would
be pretty horrendous. According to Source two, Financial Times,"... At least 1,300 people have lost
their water in and around East Porterville...". The legislature should make an act that limits the
amount of water individuals take out of the ground. "Scientist are already sounding alarm bells
about pumping too much groundwater. State water managers estimate that water tables in some parts
of the Valley have dropped 100 feet below historical lows." (Source three). California should make a
law about pumping water because in the near future there will be no more water. Another reason is,
"As water levels sink, the land can sink..." (Source three). What this means is that if people just
cluelessly poke holes into the ground to pump out water, the area that has holes will sink. According
to Source 2, "... California is the only state that doesn't really monitor or regulate how much
groundwater farmers and residents are using." This is an agonizing problem because if the state does
not watch our moves towards pumping water, people might take too much and we will not have any

"Even though California was the only state in the West without groundwater legislation, officials
with the Kern County Farm Bureau said they're not happy with the state's bill." (Source one).
Apparently, farmers are not so happy about them making a bill. If there is a legislative law about
monitoring groundwater, then how will the farmers grow their crops? Some farmers are worried,
too, according to source three. "In Merced County, farm leaders are trying to stop two private
landowners from selling as much as 7 billion gallons of well water to farmers in another county."

precautions that you should take while your septic tank is being pumped. #1 Make Sure The
Contractor You Hire Is Qualified The best way to protect your safety and that of your home when
your septic tank is being pumped is to hire a contractor who is licensed and bonded within your state
for the purpose of pumping septic tanks. Make sure that you ask to see this documentation before
you allow them to work on your septic tank. It is easy to overlook this step, but for the safety of
your house and your family, you should not skip this step. #2 Keep Pets Inside Keep your pets inside

Data Sheets Of Multiphase Pumps
The current study is an effort to analyse existing secondary data which includes professional
journals, industry reports, past research on related topics and data sheets of multiphase pumps
(MPPs) so as to understand the efficiencies and advantages brought in by MPPs in multiphase
pumping conditions. The study also attempts to provide a general criterion of a pump for a particular
process during production. It is understood that fluids pumped from off shore oil wells will
essentially pump multiphase fluids at all times up to separation stage. Also, oil wells undergo
changes in gas volume fraction and watercut during the lifecycle of the well including testing,
installation, initial phase of pumping, in established and operational oil wells, an aging oil well and
during abandonment.
The criterion to choose a multiphase boosting solution for any oil well system is very subjective and
in most cases is dependent on the pump manufacturer or system packager data. Such a situation may
result in over–dependence on the vendors and probably camouflage other available technologies or
limitations in the known technology. The study will compare both the manufacturer data sheets as
well as the available data on multiphase pump performance in oil wells across the globe. The
available literature on the subject only indicates that certain type of pump is suitable for a given
application but does not provide a generalized set of criterion for deciding up on a pump for a
particular field

Water Scarcity in Michigan Essay example
"Nestle in Michigan" is a video clip on YouTube about the Nestle corporations bottled water plants
with a primary focus being on the plant located in Stanwood, Michigan (Menzies, 2010). Nestle has
a 99 year lease on property that only cost them $63,000, "they received $10 million in tax
abatements", and they are pumping water at a rate of 218 gallons per minute (down from the
original 450 gallons per minute) (Menzies, 2010). In other words, Nestle is pumping dangerously
large amounts of water that is free to them as property owners, selling it for a profit, and not being
subjected to the same tax as other land owners. House Bill 6443 was introduced in 2010 to keep
well water withdrawal from being taxed, but "instead, an owner would have ... Show more content

It is now an issue that will have them both wasting time and money on investigations, lawyers, and
other court fees while in and out of court. Once one case is won a precedent is set that opens the
door for all kinds of neighbor vs. neighbor and who is entitled to the water. Environmental Attorney
Jim Olson said, "Water is a transient gift on earth for life" (Menzies, 2010). To me this means water
was provided to us by God as a means of survival and ongoing life. Water belongs to no one person
yet all of us at the same time. A better solution than House Bill 6443 would be a bill that instead
imposes a high tax on the withdrawal of water for commercial use. Honestly I can't believe there is
no such law. Government should play a larger role in the preservation of our natural resources;
however it is ultimately up to us as individuals to be conscious consumers. Without consumers there
are no markets. I found this video to be quite disturbing. I have always felt bottled water was a
waste but never realized to what extent. This video is another affirmation of what a waste of money
and gross, unnecessary, waste of natural resource bottled water is. Before anyone ever sold bottled
water, the market for it did not exist; there was no demand for bottled water. People carried it with
them, found an alternate source, or went without. I too have purchased

Project Water Level Indicator With Automatic Water Pump...
Water is the most important issue in our day to day life. But it is very pathetic when the owner of the
house faced that the water tank be empty without any alarming. The project is to design water level
indicator with automatic water pump controlling system. water level sensor is been made for sensing
water level accurately. Microcontroller is used to control the overall system automatically that
reduces the design and control complexity. Microcontroller takes input from the sensor unit which
senses the water level. After processing input variables, resultant output decides the water pump's
action (on/off) with respect to current water status of the tank. A display unit indicates the status of
pump and water level. The device also monitor the state of level of water whether it is stable,
increasing or decreasing with what velocity. It also stores the total time of pump being kept ON. It
also keep monitoring whether the pumping is working well or not. While Keeping the motor ON it
detects whether the motor pump is working well or not every minutes. If the level is increasing or
decreasing in each minutes then the indicator shows the motor pump is working well else after three
minutes if the level remains stable then it shows there is a problem in motor. Thus it also monitor the
working performance of the pump Introduction

William Kamkwamba Essay
According to the Ted talks, William Kamkwamba was born in Malawi, South East Africa. He had 6
sisters and was the only boy besides his dad in his family. William's father was a farmer in his
village, and his family depended on the rain to water the plants so they could harvest and eat them.
William lived in a small house with no electricity and no water. His sisters had to walk to the nearest
water source and then carry it back to their home just so they could have water. Once William was
old enough he went to school. He enjoyed school and was fascinated how things work. At school
William usually had a banana for lunch and other kids wanted to take it, but William refused.
William ignored them and did not listen to other people trying to command him. In 2001, the rain
stopped and there was no crops, which means less food (Ted Talk). William by then was a teen and
he was very concerned about the famine. One day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Windmill. When William finished his Windmill it had two propellers and pumped water for his
family and village. Once again the Journalist came back and invited him in another Ted Talk. This
time William got to see the real Windmills and how they worked in Palm Springs. Then William
decided to give a school a Windmill in Africa. William did not do it alone most of the kids helped

A Controlled Trial Of Smart Infusion Pumps
Jeffery et. al. (2005) study, "A Controlled Trial of Smart Infusion Pumps to Improve Medication
Safety in Critically Ill Patients," aimed at looking at the differences in serious medical errors using
smart infusion pumps vs not using smart pumps in an intensive care unit. Although, this was
accomplished, it was significantly limited by the sample group characteristics and lack of staff
education regarding smart pumps. The study analyzed in depth the serious medication errors using
the infusion pumps and found multiple areas for improvement, from the provider ordering the
medication to the reprograming of the pumps. This can help reduce medication administration errors
specific to the causes found by the study. Medication errors can be life threatening especially to
critically ill patients. Intravenous medications, if given improperly, can have fatal consequences in
the critically ill (Tissot et. al.,1999). For example, heparin given at the wrong dose can lead to
severe bleeding and stroke (Crowther & Warkentin, 2008). Using smart pumps gives alerts to the
operator making them aware of a possible wrong dose based on the medication given. Summary

A Brand New Therapy
Cellatroniks is a brand new therapy in the United Kingdom, although it has been practiced in the
United States for 25 years by its founder Teddy Gagnan. Also called dynamic energy therapy, it
boosts energy fields in the body, which in turn strengthens the immune system and enhances the
body 's healing capacity. According to Trick Or Treatment: The Undeniable Facts about Alternative
Medicine by Simon Singh, Edzard Ernst, The therapy works by sending invisible and soundless
energy waves into the body via key points – the hands, feet, back of the neck, chest, shoulder and
abdomen. A central machine stores different programmes for enhancing different parts of the body
or body systems – for example, there are programmes for the kidneys, the endocrine system, the
digestion, the eyes, the legs and the circulation. Patients sit in a comfortable chair and the energy is
fed into the body via a flat metal plate known as an enhancer. Some patients feel a warmth spreading
from the plate, others say they feel no sensation. Laboratory tests have shown that once the energy is
passed into the body differences can be found in the brain waves; patients report feeling relaxed and
later energized. Teddy Gagnan describes the treatment as 'a food for the body ', supplying energy
where it is deficient. This in turns helps to achieve balance in the body, enabling it to combat disease
and disorder. Cellatroniks technology is currently being used to treat cancer, MS and diabetes in the

Input-Output Pairing and Disturbance Rejection of a...
Distillation is the main separation method in chemical process industries. This process involves low
thermodynamic efficiency and high energy demand due to the heat that is added in the bottom
reboiler and thrown away in the top condenser. For this reason, to improve energy–efficient
distillation systems, heat integration concept was first proposed by Brugma [1], Wright [2], Petlyuk
et al.[3] and Freshwater [4,5] almost 70 years ago. Nakaiwa et al. [6] has recently discussed these
systems in an excellent review. In another review, Amiya [7] introduced many other heat integration
schemes which have been developed so far in depth.
Heat pump systems can be used to upgrade heat from a lower quality energy source in the condenser
to a higher quality energy source in the reboiler. Heat pump–assisted distillation column was first
introduced in the mid–1970s [8]. Previously, a number of studies on heat pump–assisted distillation
have been reported in the literature. Omideyi et al. [9] developed a quick selection method for vapor
compression (VC) heat pump assisted distillation columns. Fonyo and Mizsey [10] simplified the
method and included vapor recompression as well as absorption heat pump scheme. Kiss et al. [11]
developed selection scheme of energy efficient technologies for binary distillation. Van de bor et al.
[12] presented a quick performance map and made selection simpler and more suitable.
The most popular heat pump systems are the mechanical ones. In these heat pumps,

The Most Advanced Technology to Prevent Diabetes is the...
Present Technology The most advanced technology for preventing diabetes currently is the insulin
pump. This is a box about the size of a computer mouse and it supplies insulin to your pancreas. It
has many advantages but sadly, it has much more disadvantages. An advantage of having an insulin
pump is that the device delivers insulin to you. It keeps your blood glucose level in range. If your
blood glucose level gets too high you can press a button on your pump to produce insulin (American
Diabetes Association "Insulin Pumps"). It is a great machine to have if you have diabetes, it will
make your life much easier. This has lots of advantages but there are also lots of disadvantages of
the present technology which is why we are improving this a lot.
One disadvantage of the present technology is you have to carry it around everywhere. This is
basically shows everyone that you have diabetes and people might feel uncomfortable. That is why
our invention is a microchip inside you that nobody can see. Another disadvantage of the insulin
pump is every hour or two you have to measure your blood glucose level. People have to monitor
their blood glucose rate for the rest of their lives. But with our microchip you never have to worry
about checking your levels again. Also when people take baths, showers or go swimming they have
to disconnect the pump. With our microchip this never has to be worried about. You have to prick
your finger 4–5 times a day to check your

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Positive Displacement Pumps
By allowing fluid to flow into closed cavity from a source with low pressure, trapping the fluid and
then force it into a receiver which is high–pressure by decreasing the volume of cavity is the
positive displacement pumps work. P.D. pumps have their own advantages and disadvantages but
there are a few pros and cons of these pumps that are similar to each other.
Advantages of P.D. pumps
A highly viscous fluid can be easily handled by a couple rotary technologies and air operated piston
pumps. In centrifugal pumps their flow rate and efficiency start to drop above 500 SSU. This is due
to high friction losses in centrifugal pump. However in rotary pump, the flow and efficiency will
typically increase with viscosity. In addition, fluids with viscosities more than several millions SSU
can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inherently, positive displacement pumps necessarily need safety or pressure relief pumps because
the principle of operation does not include a pressure restriction. However, it is only possible using
complex mass balancing in oscillating positive displacement pumps vibration– free operation.
Besides that, compare to centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps which are oscillated are
less suitable for high speeds. It is also a requirement to have a pulsating flow as when the positive
displacement pumps oscillate, it is a pulsation dampener.
The disadvantage in more complicated and complex designs is there are fault–prone constructions
with valves that will cause it the stop working at some point. Other than that, in an oscillating
positive displacement pumps, there will be a larger number of wear parts if it is compared with
centrifugal pump. The major disadvantage of positive displacement pump is pump stroke is
manually set by adjusting the collar for determination of the volumes. It is generally less accurate
and less easily repeatable if it is manual

1. Introduction
There has been a development in the world 's population and also an increment in energy needs in
the most recent years. Moreover, due to the small quantify of fossil fuel, as well as in view of its
non–renewable, more consideration must be paid to alternative energy sources, especially in
residential usage, since these accounts for the majority of energy utilization. Besides, the issue of
energy expenditures for heating and cooling is significant at the present time owing to rising in
energy costs and CO2 punishments [1].
A heat pump practically serves to maintain a climate in the building at a desired level. On the whole,
they are utilized for the heating of the air in winter and cooling it during the summer periods.

The pump removes water by pumping it out of the pit and discharging through a drain line into the
storm sewer, the sewer line, or into a safe area away from your home.
Tips to Avoid Needing a Sump Pump Replacement during an Emergency
1. Pay attention to the sound of the sump pump. If you hear a significant change in the sound, it's a
potential sign the pump may be experiencing a problem.
2. If water is reaching the top of the sump pit, or is overflowing into the basement contact Benjamin
Franklin plumber in Sugar Land for sump pump repair or replacement.
3. If the pump in your home is already more than ten years old, keep a close watch on it, and
continue routine maintenance and inspection by a licensed plumber.
Selecting a Sump Pump
Once the decision to install a sump pump is made, your next decision is the type you need. If you
are unsure, a Benjamin Franklin plumber in Sugar Land can assist you in the selection. The two
most common types of sump pump installed are the pedestal, and the submersible sump pump.
Pedestal sump pumps sit above the sump pit, and are easier to service due to it. They are a typical

Water Quality Analysis Of The Potable And Environmental Water
In this research project I conducted the water quality analysis of both the potable and environmental
water at various village sites, and in the New River Lagoon in Belize. The data collected in this
project contributed to the data collected over the past decade by previous McMaster fellows and
scholars. Moreover, we conveyed the results from this study to the community partners in the
villages San Carlos, Rancho Dolores, and with the Programme for Belize–the managing entity of
Rio Bravo Conservation and Management Area ("RBCMA") which borders the New River Lagoon.
In the project we tested for bacterial contaminants, nitrate nitrogen, phosphorous, dissolved oxygen,
pH, free chlorine, and ammonia levels.
In this project we continue to analyze new samples and the baseline data for any trends in high or
low levels of chemicals, as well as to keep the Belizean community appraised of any hazards or
precautions they should be taking for their drinking water. By collaborating with our Belize
community partners, we are able to discuss possible solutions as to better techniques for cleaner
water or more efficient solutions to using clean safe drinking water.
Water is a necessity, but, when water becomes polluted with chemicals, both inorganic and organic,
it makes it difficult to use water for the health benefits and sanitation it is normally used for. Good
water quality is especially vital for Belize, as they are largely an agricultural country. The data

Electrical Submersible Pump Analysis and Design
Case Services, Inc.
Abstract
Case Services' software provides production optimization for a variety of different methods of
artificial lift. This paper discusses the dominant factors in electrical centrifugal submersible pump
design and monitoring. Emphasis is placed on three areas: Well inflow performance behavior. Fluid
Pressure–Volume–Temperature and phase behavior. Pump equipment performance specifications.
An examination of fluid dynamics within a centrifugal pump provides appreciation for the need to
analyze the pump "one stage at a time." The importance of individual pump testing is also identified.
This paper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, it is crucial to analyze pump performance based on a "known good" condition.
Experience has shown that each serialized pump demonstrates unique performance data. Therefore,
a factory pump test should be obtained before the pump is installed in a well. The data from this test
can be used throughout the equipment life for accurate performance analysis. This discussion is
limited to conventional applications of centrifugal pumps – specifically excluding: Pumps installed
below the producing formation. Downhole gas separation. Variable frequency drive considerations.
Focus is placed upon the pump itself. The downhole motor is discussed only in passing. Steady–
state operation (no pump cycling) is also assumed.

The Basics
This section describes the formulas that are the basis for the csSubmersible suite's calculations.
When employing any pumping method, optimum artificial lift is achieved only when the pump is
closely matched to the well's ability to produce fluids. This is especially true with centrifugal
pumping. Before the pump design process can even begin, an accurate model of the well's inflow
performance must be developed.
How Much Will It Make?

CD-47 Scholarship Essay
"While this therapy could help many countries in reducing their cancer rates, it is highly expensive.
As a result, we are working towards increasing the affordability of the anti CD–47 therapy.
Unfortunately, developing a solution can take many years, leaving those affected with no option but
to wait until this therapy can be marketed." With an overwhelming sense of disappointment, I leaned
back in my seat as I learned about the anti CD–47 therapy.
CD–47 is a molecule found on the surface of human cells, and functions as a signal for macrophages
to not "eat" the cells. Unfortunately, these molecules also permeate cancer cells, rendering the
cancer cells incapable of being destroyed by the immune system. Through experiments, researchers
developed a treatment using antibodies that could destruct the CD–47 molecules on cancer cells. A

Relatively empty due to the lack of advanced technology usually found in the United States, this
experience opened my eyes to the inability of these clinics to afford new technology. Furthermore,
advanced instruments for basic measurements such as blood pressure and temperature exist in
developed countries; however, stethoscopes and antique thermometers still dominate in developing

Pump And Treat
Throughout the past few years, Fruitvale has been experiencing a severe water crisis. The banned
pesticide "No–Bug" contaminated the north end of Fruitvale. Recently, the contaminate has been
spreading near the Fruitvale Municipal Water Well. If the water well gets contaminated, Fruitvale
would be without a reliable, clean water source. A common and safe method for contaminated water
clean up is Pump and Treat. Pump and Treat pumps groundwater from the effected wells to an
above–ground treatment system. From there, the treatment system removes and contains the
contaminate plume. Containing the plume keeps the contaminate from spreading and lowering the
future possibility of causing more problems for Fruitvale. This method is time sparing and safe.
Pump and Treat is estimated to be completed in 6 to 9 months. Also, from containing the plume, no
wildlife habitats, rivers or lakes, or drinking water sources would be effected by the contaminate.
Throughout this method no harmful exposure to wildlife or humans will occur. Pump and Treat also
is a popular method. It has been selected or used by more than 800 Superfund sites across America.

One thing that you will have to think about is the kind of device that runs your vacuum pump. Just
like everything you will find benefits and drawbacks. Let us have a look at a few of the different
products you can buy to operate your vacuum pump.
Among the products is definitely an ejector. This is among the easiest and generally utilized as
vacuum pressure producer. The fundamental procedure for the ejector is it converts pressure energy
of the motive fluid into velocity energy because it flows via a usual small nozzle. Ejectors use
various sorts of motive fluid. Steam is among the most typical liquids. A few of the pros ... Show

Pumps are generally experienced in industries essentially for his or her smooth operation and change
in liquids in one point to the other. Centrifugal pumps are multi–purpose pumps appropriate for a
variety of different programs demanding reliable and price–effective functioning. These pumps
would be the epitome of simplicity and employ centrifugal pressure to maneuver liquids through
piping systems.
A centrifugal pump converts primer mover's energy into kinetic energy and subsequently this kinetic
energy is changed into pressure energy from the fluid being pumped. It offers an impeller having a
central eye by which the fluid makes its way into the pump. Our prime speed impeller speeds up the
fluid radially outward in the pump chasing after. This boosts the fluid pressure and therefore will get
pressed from the pump right into a pipe to carry on its flow.

Water Pumps In California
Have you ever felt uncomfortable about not taking a shower for two or more days? Well, for many
Californians that rely on failing water pumps, many of them haven't taken a shower in over two to
five months. Three years of over–pumping has caused the water supply in our underground aquifers
to slowly dry up because farmers are pumping more water out than can be replaced by the rain.
Now, because many towns are starting to lose their water due to their reliance on aquifer pumps,
legislation is being considered. But this decision to put a cap on those pumps has many farmers
upset, for these farmers believe that they should have an unlimited access to water. One farmer said
that The city folk are biting the hand that feeds them. But as many farmers believe that they
should have unlimited access to the pumps, many people in the cities that have no water believe that

That means that the more than 40% of California is supplied by aquifers, that means that there is a
lot of water if it is able to support 40% of California. And if California did pass groundwater
regulations, that means that farmers would have to evenly distribute water or lose a lot of their crops
and that would be bad because then farmers would not produce as many crops, that means less
revenue for California. That is why so many farmers are against the groundwater regulations.
Even though all of these people are against the groundwater regulations, they have to think of the
long term effect of pumping groundwater. If we were to keep pumping groundwater, we would
slowly dwindle down our supply of groundwater, which is one of the reasons that California is such
a good place to farm and grow crops. And the more we pump out groundwater the more California
sinks into the gap left by the water that had been pumped out of the ground. That is why
groundwater regulations are important to the future of

How John Snow Tested The Water Supply At Broad Street Essay
Science in the 1850s was very underdeveloped as compared to the technology we have this day.
Therefore it would have been incredibly challenging for scientists, like John Snow, to hold labs and
experiment. One big factor I noticed that differentiates the two centuries was how John Snow tested
the water supply at Broad Street. These days, epidemiologists and scientists use meters or
technology to test the groundwater. However, John Snow had no other choice but to drink–test it
himself; this was his method that led him to discover water–borne diseases. From this, we can learn
how much John Snow was devoted to discovering better health for the communities. When John
Snow gathered his data, he knew that eliminating differences in location or other factors would mess
the result of the study. Rather keeping the confounding variable the same would help him find the
problem of the study, which was water.
London was going through a revolution, everyone living in the city for jobs, overpopulated and
starting to get polluted. However, John Snow did not budge even with this kind of adversity; but
rather was fascinated by the environment. Because during that time, London gave John Snow great
chances to examine and study water and air–borne diseases, which is not commonly seen in rich and
clean countrysides. John Snow and his partners resided in London to discover new diseases and the
cure for that.
Not only was John Snow played a big part of the history of epidemiology, but his partner

is used to remove sufficient energy from the refrigerant to transform it completely into liquid. The
evaporator is used to vaporize the refrigerant by adding energy supplied by the warm water. The
throttling valve serves the purpose of reducing the pressure of the refrigerant resulting in isenthalpic
expansion. The compressor supplies energy to the refrigerant, and under ideal conditions works in a
quasistatic adiabatic manner.
Figure 1: Schematic of Heat Pump Cycle
Figure 2 depicts the Hylton Air and Water Heat Pump Systems used for this experiment. Viewing
Figure 2, the incoming cold water splits into two separate lines. One line heads towards the
evaporator and the other line heads towards the condenser. The flow rate of each line is measured as
seen right after t5 for the condenser and t8 for the evaporator. The water line heading to the
condenser is first routed through the compressor for

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Heat Pump

  • 1. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Heat Pump The above diagrams illustrates how easy it is to utilise the key components but to reverse the process i.e. to pump heat out rather than in, thus becoming an 'air conditioning' unit (more correctly called a cooling unit). All the main components remain same with just the flow reversed (via the 4 way reversing valves) and some additional minor components (e.g. check valves and specific expansion valve). Simultaneous heating and cooling The Heat Pump can be designed and configured as a multi mode machine.  To generate only hot water from ambient air  To simultaneously generate hot water and cooling energy.  To generate only cooling for comfort Hotels and hospitals continuously need air–conditioning, and therefore on a multimode ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Water–to–Water (W–W). Water–to–Air (W–A). Water Source (iii. & iv.) can be further subdivided: a. Closed Loop: this is the most common form of "Ground source" system when buried. b. Open Loop: much less common than closed loop ground source (e.g. ground Aquifer; open lake, river or sea). This sort of unit designation would lead to better description and slightly less confusion. It also highlights that the key difference between water source heat pumps which work on closed and open loops in the ground is the temperature they work at rather than the medium itself (which is the same – water). 3 Based on Motive / generating power input. Heat pumps are also sometimes designated by the fuel source used to drive the process which is most usually electricity (>95%), less commonly natural gas and much less commonly LPG. 4. Based on Operating Temperature For heat pumps generating hot water in their condensers (i.e. Air– or Water– to Water units) another sub description is the flow temperature capability. BS EN 14511–2011 "high temperature" heat pumps they are often referred to Very High Temperature i.e. >65°C. For heat pumps producing warm air the temperature should not drop below 38°C to prevent risk of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Sherman Argumentative Essay After a hot bath the next morning, Sherman went to the Robe Cleaning and Repair Shop. He asked the big angel to repair the huge hole left by that silly dog. Then he went to the Map Store so he could to plan their next trip to Earth. He called Mugsie and Topsie together. "Since we have so many places left to search for Peewee's home and so little time, let's split them up and fly to each place alone. We can't search every city, but we can make a list and fly to a lot of them. "Okay with us," chimed Mugsie and Topsie. "Well," said Sherman, "when you look at a globe of Earth, you see lots of water and seven big pieces of land called con–ti– nents." Even Sherman had trouble with that word. "We're almost finished with the first continent, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These kids already have cats. " I'm finished with my continent. Need any help"? "Yes! Italy and Germany. That gives me time to fly back north to Ireland." Hours later, when Topsie landed in Ireland, she thought it was the greenest country she had ever seen. Fields of grass everywhere! Peewee would love this. She looked in window

They dotted the shoreline near a lovely sea. Suddenly, Topsie heard a whisper from inside one of them. "Psst. Psst." Topsie whirled around and saw a tiny man dressed in green. She knew at once that he was a leprechaun. Sherman had told her they were not real at all. But there he was in front of her! "Hi," said Topsie. "Did you want something?" The leprechaun giggled. "Bet you can't catch me," he said. "If you do, you'll get a pot of gold." "Look," said Topsie, "I just need to know if any Irish kids want a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Analysis Of Alice Munro 's ' How I Met My Husband ' "How I Met My Husband" by Alice Munro is a short story about Edie, a fifteenth year old girl, who works at Dr. Peebles and Mrs.Peebles house taking care of their children, cleaning the house, preparing the vegetables and occasionally baking desserts. One day they heard a plane pass by, and they ran into the yard to look. Their neighbor Loretta Bird mentioned that the plane was close to hitting their house and began to talk about the plane. She also specified that the pilot received permission to use the fairgrounds and give residents rides to see the neighborhood from above. The next day when Edie finished her tasks early, she sometimes would look at Mrs. Peebles' clothes and even tried on a dress and put makeup on. She headed to the kitchen to drink ginger ale and gets startled by a man, named Chris Watters, standing outside the door. He mentions he 's the pilot of the plane and asks if he can obtain some water from the pump. He complimented and thanked her and left to the pump. After she rushed to take off the dress and wash her face before Mrs. Peebles arrived to the house. Mrs. Peebles commenced to ask questions about the man, but Edie contemplated on becoming fired if the man revealed how she dressed. After the Dr. and Mrs. Peebles departed to the theater, Edie ensured the children were sleeping then headed outside. She desired to talk to Chris to make sure he wouldn 't say anything about her dressed up. He assured he wouldn 't reveal anything and offered her a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Cj Industries and Heavey Pumps – Discussion Questions Essay CJ Industries and Heavey Pumps – Discussion Questions 1. What are all the issues here, from both CJI's and Heavey's perspectives, that need to be researched by Mr. Ashby? CJ Industries (CJI) The first issue presented for CJ Industries was its contract with Great Lakes. Though CJI had sufficient excess capacity to ramp up production on the parts to be supplied in the Great Lakes' contract, they were not sure about the ability or willingness of Heavey Pumps to increase their production of the bilge pumps. The problem is that CJ Industries had signed the contract with Great Lakes prior to any discussions about ramping up production with Heavey Pumps. The next issue for CJ Industries was whether or not Heavey Pumps could guarantee ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With about nine months remaining until the contact start date, Heavey Pumps would need to look at their existing customer orders to see if they had enough capacity to quadruple production of bilge pumps for CJ Industries. Furthermore, Heavey Pumps would need to evaluate the costs associated with this contract (i.e. labor, production, warehousing, purchasing, transportation, etc.) to determine a new unit price for the bilge pumps associated with CJ Industries contract. Finally, as with CJ Industries' cost benefit analysis, Heavey Pumps ought to decide if they should continue to service CJ Industries. If so, perhaps consider changing from their current informal, noncontract basis to a more long–term agreement. 2. Should CJI continue to use Heavey to supply pumps, should they make them in–house, should they consider one of the other suppliers, or should they do some combination of these alternatives? Discuss the advantages, disadvantages, and risks of each of these alternatives. Option 1 – continue to use Heavey Pumps. This would be probably the easiest decision since Heavey Pumps had been a reliable supplier for CJI for a number of years. This is also contingent on Heavey Pumps and the issues discussed above, i.e. quality and performance, price, delivery timing and volume requirements. • 10. Should Groundwater Be Regulated Essay Groundwater: Should It Be Regulated? Imagine not having water. What's life without having water? There's no more taking showers or washing the dishes or anything that involves water. Life would be pretty horrendous. According to Source two, Financial Times,"... At least 1,300 people have lost their water in and around East Porterville...". The legislature should make an act that limits the amount of water individuals take out of the ground. "Scientist are already sounding alarm bells about pumping too much groundwater. State water managers estimate that water tables in some parts of the Valley have dropped 100 feet below historical lows." (Source three). California should make a law about pumping water because in the near future there will be no more water. Another reason is, "As water levels sink, the land can sink..." (Source three). What this means is that if people just cluelessly poke holes into the ground to pump out water, the area that has holes will sink. According to Source 2, "... California is the only state that doesn't really monitor or regulate how much groundwater farmers and residents are using." • 14. Data Sheets Of Multiphase Pumps The current study is an effort to analyse existing secondary data which includes professional journals, industry reports, past research on related topics and data sheets of multiphase pumps (MPPs) so as to understand the efficiencies and advantages brought in by MPPs in multiphase pumping conditions. The study also attempts to provide a general criterion of a pump for a particular process during production. It is understood that fluids pumped from off shore oil wells will essentially pump multiphase fluids at all times up to separation stage. Also, oil wells undergo changes in gas volume fraction and watercut during the lifecycle of the well including testing, installation, initial phase of pumping, in established and operational oil wells, an aging oil well and during abandonment. The criterion to choose a multiphase boosting solution for any oil well system is very subjective and in most cases is dependent on the pump manufacturer or system packager data. Such a situation may result in over–dependence on the vendors and probably camouflage other available technologies or limitations in the known technology. The study will compare both the manufacturer data sheets as well as the available data on multiphase pump performance in oil wells across the globe. The available literature on the subject only indicates that certain type of pump is suitable for a given application but does not provide a generalized set of criterion for deciding up on a pump for a particular field ... • 18. Water Scarcity in Michigan Essay example "Nestle in Michigan" is a video clip on YouTube about the Nestle corporations bottled water plants with a primary focus being on the plant located in Stanwood, Michigan (Menzies, 2010). Nestle has a 99 year lease on property that only cost them $63,000, "they received $10 million in tax abatements", and they are pumping water at a rate of 218 gallons per minute (down from the original 450 gallons per minute) (Menzies, 2010). In other words, Nestle is pumping dangerously large amounts of water that is free to them as property owners, selling it for a profit, and not being subjected to the same tax as other land owners. Once one case is won a precedent is set that opens the door for all kinds of neighbor vs. neighbor and who is entitled to the water. Environmental Attorney Jim Olson said, "Water is a transient gift on earth for life" (Menzies, 2010). To me this means water was provided to us by God as a means of survival and ongoing life. Water belongs to no one person yet all of us at the same time. A better solution than House Bill 6443 would be a bill that instead imposes a high tax on the withdrawal of water for commercial use. Honestly I can't believe there is no such law. Government should play a larger role in the preservation of our natural resources; however it is ultimately up to us as individuals to be conscious consumers. Without consumers there are no markets. I found this video to be quite disturbing. I have always felt bottled water was a waste but never realized to what extent. This video is another affirmation of what a waste of money and gross, unnecessary, waste of natural resource bottled water is. Before anyone ever sold bottled water, the market for it did not exist; there was no demand for bottled water. People carried it with them, found an alternate source, or went without. • 24. Project Water Level Indicator With Automatic Water Pump... Water is the most important issue in our day to day life. But it is very pathetic when the owner of the house faced that the water tank be empty without any alarming. The project is to design water level indicator with automatic water pump controlling system. water level sensor is been made for sensing water level accurately. Microcontroller is used to control the overall system automatically that reduces the design and control complexity. Microcontroller takes input from the sensor unit which senses the water level. After processing input variables, resultant output decides the water pump's action (on/off) with respect to current water status of the tank. A display unit indicates the status of pump and water level. The device also monitor the state of level of water whether it is stable, increasing or decreasing with what velocity. It also stores the total time of pump being kept ON. It also keep monitoring whether the pumping is working well or not. While Keeping the motor ON it detects whether the motor pump is working well or not every minutes. If the level is increasing or decreasing in each minutes then the indicator shows the motor pump is working well else after three minutes if the level remains stable then it shows there is a problem in motor. Thus it also monitor the working performance of the pump Introduction An Water Level Indicator may be defined as a system by which we can get the information of any water reservoir. (2005) study, "A Controlled Trial of Smart Infusion Pumps to Improve Medication Safety in Critically Ill Patients," aimed at looking at the differences in serious medical errors using smart infusion pumps vs not using smart pumps in an intensive care unit. Although, this was accomplished, it was significantly limited by the sample group characteristics and lack of staff education regarding smart pumps. The study analyzed in depth the serious medication errors using the infusion pumps and found multiple areas for improvement, from the provider ordering the medication to the reprograming of the pumps. This can help reduce medication administration errors specific to the causes found by the study. Medication errors can be life threatening especially to critically ill patients. Intravenous medications, if given improperly, can have fatal consequences in the critically ill (Tissot et. al.,1999). For example, heparin given at the wrong dose can lead to severe bleeding and stroke (Crowther & Warkentin, 2008). Using smart pumps gives alerts to the operator making them aware of a possible wrong dose based on the medication given. Summary Jeffery et. al. • 30. A Brand New Therapy Cellatroniks is a brand new therapy in the United Kingdom, although it has been practiced in the United States for 25 years by its founder Teddy Gagnan. Also called dynamic energy therapy, it boosts energy fields in the body, which in turn strengthens the immune system and enhances the body 's healing capacity. According to Trick Or Treatment: The Undeniable Facts about Alternative Medicine by Simon Singh, Edzard Ernst, The therapy works by sending invisible and soundless energy waves into the body via key points – the hands, feet, back of the neck, chest, shoulder and abdomen. A central machine stores different programmes for enhancing different parts of the body or body systems – for example, there are programmes for the kidneys, the endocrine system, the digestion, the eyes, the legs and the circulation. Patients sit in a comfortable chair and the energy is fed into the body via a flat metal plate known as an enhancer. Some patients feel a warmth spreading from the plate, others say they feel no sensation. Laboratory tests have shown that once the energy is passed into the body differences can be found in the brain waves; patients report feeling relaxed and later energized. Teddy Gagnan describes the treatment as 'a food for the body ', supplying energy where it is deficient. This in turns helps to achieve balance in the body, enabling it to combat disease and disorder. • 32. Input-Output Pairing and Disturbance Rejection of a... Distillation is the main separation method in chemical process industries. This process involves low thermodynamic efficiency and high energy demand due to the heat that is added in the bottom reboiler and thrown away in the top condenser. For this reason, to improve energy–efficient distillation systems, heat integration concept was first proposed by Brugma [1], Wright [2], Petlyuk et al.[3] and Freshwater [4,5] almost 70 years ago. Nakaiwa et al. [6] has recently discussed these systems in an excellent review. In another review, Amiya [7] introduced many other heat integration schemes which have been developed so far in depth. Heat pump systems can be used to upgrade heat from a lower quality energy source in the condenser to a higher quality energy source in the reboiler. Heat pump–assisted distillation column was first introduced in the mid–1970s [8]. Previously, a number of studies on heat pump–assisted distillation have been reported in the literature. Omideyi et al. [9] developed a quick selection method for vapor compression (VC) heat pump assisted distillation columns. Fonyo and Mizsey [10] simplified the method and included vapor recompression as well as absorption heat pump scheme. Kiss et al. [11] developed selection scheme of energy efficient technologies for binary distillation. Van de bor et al. [12] presented a quick performance map and made selection simpler and more suitable. • 38. The Most Advanced Technology to Prevent Diabetes is the... Present Technology The most advanced technology for preventing diabetes currently is the insulin pump. This is a box about the size of a computer mouse and it supplies insulin to your pancreas. It has many advantages but sadly, it has much more disadvantages. An advantage of having an insulin pump is that the device delivers insulin to you. It keeps your blood glucose level in range. If your blood glucose level gets too high you can press a button on your pump to produce insulin (American Diabetes Association "Insulin Pumps"). It is a great machine to have if you have diabetes, it will make your life much easier. This has lots of advantages but there are also lots of disadvantages of the present technology which is why we are improving this a lot. One disadvantage of the present technology is you have to carry it around everywhere. This is basically shows everyone that you have diabetes and people might feel uncomfortable. That is why our invention is a microchip inside you that nobody can see. Another disadvantage of the insulin pump is every hour or two you have to measure your blood glucose level. People have to monitor their blood glucose rate for the rest of their lives. But with our microchip you never have to worry about checking your levels again. Also when people take baths, showers or go swimming they have to disconnect the pump. With our microchip this never has to be worried about. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Positive Displacement Pumps By allowing fluid to flow into closed cavity from a source with low pressure, trapping the fluid and then force it into a receiver which is high–pressure by decreasing the volume of cavity is the positive displacement pumps work. P.D. pumps have their own advantages and disadvantages but there are a few pros and cons of these pumps that are similar to each other. Advantages of P.D. pumps A highly viscous fluid can be easily handled by a couple rotary technologies and air operated piston pumps. In centrifugal pumps their flow rate and efficiency start to drop above 500 SSU. This is due to high friction losses in centrifugal pump. However in rotary pump, the flow and efficiency will typically increase with viscosity. In addition, fluids with viscosities more than several millions SSU can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inherently, positive displacement pumps necessarily need safety or pressure relief pumps because the principle of operation does not include a pressure restriction. However, it is only possible using complex mass balancing in oscillating positive displacement pumps vibration– free operation. Besides that, compare to centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps which are oscillated are less suitable for high speeds. It is also a requirement to have a pulsating flow as when the positive displacement pumps oscillate, it is a pulsation dampener. The disadvantage in more complicated and complex designs is there are fault–prone constructions with valves that will cause it the stop working at some point. Other than that, in an oscillating positive displacement pumps, there will be a larger number of wear parts if it is compared with centrifugal pump. The major disadvantage of positive displacement pump is pump stroke is manually set by adjusting the collar for determination of the volumes. • 53. Pump And Treat Throughout the past few years, Fruitvale has been experiencing a severe water crisis. The banned pesticide "No–Bug" contaminated the north end of Fruitvale. Recently, the contaminate has been spreading near the Fruitvale Municipal Water Well. If the water well gets contaminated, Fruitvale would be without a reliable, clean water source. A common and safe method for contaminated water clean up is Pump and Treat. Pump and Treat pumps groundwater from the effected wells to an above–ground treatment system. From there, the treatment system removes and contains the contaminate plume. Containing the plume keeps the contaminate from spreading and lowering the future possibility of causing more problems for Fruitvale. This method is time sparing and safe. Pump and Treat is estimated to be completed in 6 to 9 months. Also, from containing the plume, no wildlife habitats, rivers or lakes, or drinking water sources would be effected by the contaminate. Throughout this method no harmful exposure to wildlife or humans will occur. Pump and Treat also is a popular method. It has been selected or used by more than 800 Superfund sites across America. ... Centrifugal pumps are multi–purpose pumps appropriate for a variety of different programs demanding reliable and price–effective functioning. These pumps would be the epitome of simplicity and employ centrifugal pressure to maneuver liquids through piping systems. A centrifugal pump converts primer mover's energy into kinetic energy and subsequently this kinetic energy is changed into pressure energy from the fluid being pumped. It offers an impeller having a central eye by which the fluid makes its way into the pump. Our prime speed impeller speeds up the fluid radially outward in the pump chasing after. This boosts the fluid pressure and therefore will get pressed from the pump right into a pipe to carry on its flow. A few of the benefits of a liquid ring pump for any vacuum pump ... Well, for many Californians that rely on failing water pumps, many of them haven't taken a shower in over two to five months. Three years of over–pumping has caused the water supply in our underground aquifers to slowly dry up because farmers are pumping more water out than can be replaced by the rain. Now, because many towns are starting to lose their water due to their reliance on aquifer pumps, legislation is being considered. But this decision to put a cap on those pumps has many farmers upset, for these farmers believe that they should have an unlimited access to water. That is why so many farmers are against the groundwater regulations. Even though all of these people are against the groundwater regulations, they have to think of the long term effect of pumping groundwater. • 73. How John Snow Tested The Water Supply At Broad Street Essay Science in the 1850s was very underdeveloped as compared to the technology we have this day. Therefore it would have been incredibly challenging for scientists, like John Snow, to hold labs and experiment. One big factor I noticed that differentiates the two centuries was how John Snow tested the water supply at Broad Street. These days, epidemiologists and scientists use meters or technology to test the groundwater. However, John Snow had no other choice but to drink–test it himself; this was his method that led him to discover water–borne diseases. From this, we can learn how much John Snow was devoted to discovering better health for the communities. When John Snow gathered his data, he knew that eliminating differences in location or other factors would mess the result of the study. Rather keeping the confounding variable the same would help him find the problem of the study, which was water. London was going through a revolution, everyone living in the city for jobs, overpopulated and starting to get polluted. However, John Snow did not budge even with this kind of adversity; but rather was fascinated by the environment. Because during that time, London gave John Snow great chances to examine and study water and air–borne diseases, which is not commonly seen in rich and clean countrysides. John Snow and his partners resided in London to discover new diseases and the cure for that. Not only was John Snow played a big part of the history of epidemiology, but his partner ... The energy balances are to be verified over the condenser and evaporator. The efficiency of the compressor is to be determined. Lastly, an energy balance of the compressor is to be performed. Apparatus: Figure 1 depicts the cycle used in this experiment and its individual control volumes. The system uses water and refrigerant 134–a as the working fluids. The cycle operates between two different pressures, the high pressure of the condenser and the low pressure of the evaporator. The condenser is used to remove sufficient energy from the refrigerant to transform it completely into liquid. The evaporator is used to vaporize the refrigerant by adding energy supplied by the warm water. The throttling valve serves the purpose of reducing the pressure of the refrigerant resulting in isenthalpic expansion. The compressor supplies energy to the refrigerant, and under ideal conditions works in a quasistatic adiabatic manner. Figure 1: Schematic of Heat Pump Cycle
