Blindness And Socialism
Blindness
Blindness by Jose Saramago is a piece that shows many examples of political ideologies. The two
most prominent being conservatism and socialism. Now, Jose Saramago being a prominent believer
in the ideas of socialism as a whole, it is no surprise that his book Blindness includes many scenes
that portray, in favor, the fundamental concepts of socialist beliefs. This includes the variety of the
people who were blinded and the cooperation and organization of the main party involved. But, it is
interesting to point out that he also includes examples of the beliefs of conservatism but also scenes
where he criticizes it. This can be shown in scenes like when the food starts being stolen in
quarantine and in the rise in the leadership of the man with the gun.
A concept of socialism is that everyone should be equal and that there should be no class
distinctions based on ownership to promote an equal playing field for all members of society. We
see this concept in action when the wave of blindness affects people of all classes, from a ... Show

Socialists believe that cooperation and groups are preferred over competition and individualism.
This cooperation results in strengthened bonds within the community and this is exactly what we see
throughout this book. An example would be the relationship between the members of the doctor's
ward. This can be seen in the decision of the women to comply with being used as payment in order
to get food. Even if they do not want to, they do it for the collective good. Not one of them stays
behind, and when they return they all shower together and this shows the growing bond between
them. Another example is when they escape the compound and decide to stick together because they
realized there is nothing left for them in their homes and that they are better off with each other. This
relationship goes to show the power they have as a group, and not acting

Pros And Cons Of Rizal

SS14– A1 Retraction Controversy
On Dr. Jose Rizal's day of execution, many supposition circulated about him revoking his words and
his actions. This issue became a long term debate from then on until now. Some people profess that
Jose Rizal retracted while others assert that he did not. This controversy cannot be ignored
especially that we are talking about a man who has been recognized as the national hero of the
country. One of the definitions of a hero and also my definition, is a person who is willing to die for
the sake of others while a national hero is a person willing to die for the country, the point is if
Rizal's retraction papers were true, it only proves that he could not die for our country and I would
be disappointed that he was declared as our national hero.
According to my research, the person behind Rizal's retraction papers was ... Show more content on

Rizal ask forgiveness to his father for the pain that Jose Rizal pays his father after giving him
education while Jose Rizal told his brother that he will die with a clean conscience. With these
information, it proves that Jose Rizal is not afraid to die and had accepted the truth that he will come
to an end.
In the modern time, several investigations occur, analyzing if the retraction papers of Jose Rizal
were valid. Ricardo Pascual who studied many documents of Rizal claimed that the retraction letter
was not written by Jose Rizal. Famous personalities like Senator Rafael Palma believe that Jose
Rizal I has a mature personality and retraction is not Jose Rizal's thing.
After my research, I clearly know what side am I on. I believe that Dr. Jose Rizal did not retract.
Jose Rizal wanted to retract is because he wanted to marry Josephine Bracken but there are no proof,
no certificates and witnesses. Dona Trining cleared out that Jose Rizal did not marry Bracken and
Jose Rizal had never spoken about marriage to his

A Short Story : The Story Of My Life
Story of my Life I was born Portland, Oregon raised there for five years. I lived fifteen minutes
outside a small town called Forest Grove which was an hour outside of Portland. Grow up in a
Christian home all my life. I have three other siblings two are older and the other is younger. I have
a brother is twenty–four, then I have a sister that is twenty–one and a brother who is fifteen. In the
five year that I lived in Oregon we went to Solid Life Center and my parents were youth pastors. We
lived in Gaston a very small town outside of Forest Grove. At the age of five the Lord told my
family to move to Costa Rica. This came as a shock but we still follow where the Lord was leading.
So we sold our house and most of our stuff. So we raised support and moved down to Costa Rica. It
is in Central America, everyone speaks spanish and a very relational culture. Costa Rica has only
two seasons consisting of winter and summer. Winter is rainy while summer is hot and sunny. We
moved August of 2004 to San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, and started a language school there.
We attended the school for a year and learned spanish. We move about two and a half hours away to
a place called Siquirres. We worked with an orphanage of about one hundred kids in the port city of
Limon which was an hour away from Siquirres. We would play game, then have a Bible lesson and
then we would play more games. We went there just to love on the kid that were there. We livered
there for one year when the

Reflection Of Jose Rizal Play
The play was not what I expected. The characters, the plot surpassed my expectations. The play was
excellent. It was really worth my money and time. I read about Rizal's sacrifices but to actually see
it with my eyes was an eye opener and truly moved my heart. Reading and seeing are actually
different things. I'm not a fan of historical movies or even play but this one was actually different
from any other. It is a different experience when you saw the events straight out from your history
book and I was caught off guard with the experience presented to me by this play. And, when the
audience left the hall, each one of them brought home different life lessons and realizations on the
life of Rizal.
Since we all have a background of the life of Rizal, I thought that the play was predictable but I was
really amazed with the play because you can really see the hard work of each character, the efforts
they've put. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We have this admiration of the work in the West that we watched their films, buy their products, and
eat their food that we sometimes lost our identity on the way. We idolized them too much that we are
blinded that ours is much better than theirs. Jose Rizal was our national hero because he loved the
country. That love drove him to fight. The message of the play was also, fight for our freedom, fight
for what we think is right. So in every decision our government made, we must be updated as to
keep us well–informed with what's happening in our society. The play is an eye opener to every
people who turned blind on the injustices and prejudices of our society. As Rizal once quoted, "Ang
kabataan ay ang pag–asa ng bayan", it is up to us to stand our ground and fight. Even with the burial
of Marcos, students went out and rallied. Teenagers posted about their thoughts and opinions in the
social media, standing up on their own. Rizal placed his trust on us, and it is in our hands not to put
his trust on

Don Jose Marias
Americo Paredes brings to life the struggles of the US Southwest and Mexico Border reforms that
come as an effect of the Revolution. Paredes examines main characters Cuitla's and Don Jose Marias
shift between the traditional life of their heritage and the new capitalist society that is emerging
through agricultural reform. The adjustment of Cuitla's and Don Jose Marias into this new capitalist
driven era shows the difficulties that the American Southwest has endured in relation to land loss,
the new economy and the identity of its people. Cuitla's role as the "presidente" or boss on the large
communal farm as well as Don Jose Marias relationship with the community constantly reminds the
reader of the social reform, as well as the agrarian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only that but El Torro continued "to talk about taking up all the land up to the rivers edge and
driving the landowners out" (Paredes, 30). Don Jose Marias is outraged and refuses to give up more
land as well as the land he has on the riverbank due to the rich family history it holds. This anger
had only built on future encounters the two had and leads to Don Jose Marias deciding he is going to
have El Torro killed by a hit man, who successfully does so. Once the field workers or peones find
out that El Torro has died they automatically know it is a landowner due to their mutual hate for
each other. This specific conflict that takes place between El Torro, Don Jose Marias and the field
workers shows the direct relation that has formed between classes due to the social reform from a
traditional egalitarian society to a hierarchical society that the border area had

Jose Domingo Ullo The Father Of Chicano Art
Jose Domingo Ulloa was born in Chitre, Republic of Panama. Domingo lived from 1919–1997 and
was known as "The Father of Chicano Art." Domingo created this piece of art work in 1957. The
painting was based upon real life events that happen day to day. It was one event that really stood
out to Domingo which took place in 1957 in Little Rock, Arkansas. The painting is about nine black
students who tried to enter one of the most highly accomplished and prestigious school in Arkansas,
Little Rock High School on September 23, 1997. As these students were entering the school they got
assaulted with stones, rocks and rubbish by the whites. As you can see on the painting Domingo
tried to capture as much of the horror on the canvas that those black

Inflation In San Jose
According to Chapter 17 of Real Estate Principles by Charles J. Jacobus, the main reason rent
control is used today is to protect against inflation. But what happens when inflation is not a huge
problem anymore? Will rent control still be effective? A study was performed in San Jose about their
1979 rent control ordinance which showed that the ordinance did little to actually restrain rent. The
current ordinance allows for a tenant's rent to increase 8% per year if the unit was built before 1980.
People in San Jose and surrounding areas have been experiencing rent hikes for years and they are
tired of it. The study showed that for rent controlled units, there was a 21% increase in rent between
1990 and 2014. For units that were not regulated

Although I may love reading, non–fiction books have never been what I love. I believe that it is hard
to make a fiction book interesting and inviting because it is suppose to be all facts, and you never
want to alter the facts so much that you stay away from the real meaning. As I first began to read the
book it certainly did not catch my attention, it was all facts, just strict hard facts. When I began to
read more into I thought that maybe if I put myself in his shoes it would be more interesting because
then it would be like I am him and I can relate more if I thought that it was me doing everything. I
believe that freedom doesn't come free, and I understand that this book shows that. This man gave

I grew up in a small town with two amazing parents, but no one would have ever thought that I was
going to grow up and be a lawyer, a criminal one at that. Jose Rodriquez moved around a lot, saw
some uncommon things, and experienced a lot in his youth, making him the man he is today. I like
that he told us how he grew up and what he went threw, because for me that gives me more of an
insight to why he did the things he did and why he is the man he is. To me, getting an insight of how
things work in the CIA is incredible, I have family members that are in the Marines and like the CIA
there are certain things that they are not allowed to talk about, but I have never had a CIA insight
and its actually very appealing. Reading more into his life I find that because he is not from America
he is more humble. I grew up by the border of Mexico, and the men and women that came from
Mexico and made if far such as being lawyers, doctors, nurses, anything that would provide for their
family, were more humble. I believe they are because unlike someone who is home grown, they
have to work ten times harder to make it in America than anyone else. As for Jose he made it very
far and I don't feel that he could have done it unless he went threw what he did and worked like he
did. Not everyone can go to law school and pass the Bar and make it to the CIA. Not everyone can

Reaction Paer About the Mass by F. Sionil Jose
The mass
First and foremost, I would like to tell my first encounter with this book. In my senior year in high
school, my English teacher told us that one of his favourite novels is the "Mass" by F. Sionil Jose.
My seatmate that time seconded and told me that F. Sionil Jose is her favourite author but I didn't
have any reaction because of the fact that I don't know him or ever heard his creations.
When I first heard the title of this book, the thought that entered my mind is the ceremony done in
church and I was surprised that the mass that has been referred is a group of people or even a nation.
I thought my reading will be super boring because of the theme but I was wrong, instead of being
super boring it was SUPERB!

Blindness By Jose Saramago
The novel Blindness by Jose Saramago uses an epidemic of blindness as the means to illustrate the
fault in humanity. Blindness in this sense can hold countless differing meaning and values thus
making it a prime literate and metaphoric choice to portray his message rather than any other
epidemic. The definition of blindness are 1 Sightless; having less than 1/10 of normal vision in the
more efficient eye when refractive defects are fully corrected by lenses; 2 Unable or unwilling to
discern or judge . Although within the book the form of blindness is in the medical context of lost of
vision, the author carries through his underlying message according to the second definition of
blindness. Metaphorically the author may have intended to portray the ignorance of society and how
being individually oriented may leave us blind to the problems we create.
For one within the book one of the main characters: 'the doctor' states "Fighting has always been a
form of blindness." Through the doctor's speech the author depicts that the epidemic of blindness
arguably allowed them to see that they actually had been blind all along. The fact that we humans
can argue, fight and kill each other in a sense leaves us blind since we are unable to see another
person's view resulting in fight. Thus in lament terms the unwillingness to view ... Show more

Jose Godinez-Samperio
With the recent presidential change the U.S. immigration policies and effectiveness are being
spotlighted. One of the rather tough issues is how to handle current illegal immigrants and how to
put an end to illegal immigration (Schaefer, 2015). Immigrants that come to the United States are
looking for the American dream or just for a better life for themselves or their families. Although,
the stigma society insinuates is that of all immigrants bring terrorism, drug problems, and
employment with them (Schaefer, 2015). Since the problems have been linked to immigrants,
Americans have developed a prejudice towards people of Hispanic and Asian descent. Due to this
prejudice towards immigrants both illegal and legal immigrants struggle to find employment
(Schaefer, 2015). In the case of Jose Godinez–Samperio, a child who entered the United States

his bachelor's degree and then the end result a law degree (Allen, 2012). While pursuing his dream

Essay on Jose Saramago's Blindness
When defining the word blindness, it can be interpreted in various ways. Either it can be explained
as sightless, or it can be carefully deciphered as having a more complex in–depth analysis. In the
novel Blindness, Jose Saramago depicts and demonstrates how in an instant your right to see can be
taken in an instant. However, in this novel, blindness is metaphorically related to 'seeing' the truth
beyond our own bias opinions.
Saramago's novel clearly illustrates themes that describe the importance of the awareness of others,
in terms of feeling oppressed by fear, lack of trust, dehumanization, and segregation. He describes in
full detail the importance of the government's involvement in the lives of the blind victims, which

For instance, "Hispanic women are more likely to be dissatisfied if they feel they have been treated
badly by providers and staff and if they do not trust doctors" (Guendelman, Wagner 118). If the
patient does not feel a sense of hospitality and see a welcoming smile, it discourages the patient to
visit the physician because they feel they are not getting the right medical attention, and tend to be
sicker. In addition, "the sicker individual risk exposure to more insults, and this leads them to pull
back from the health care system" (119). In a physician/ patient relationship there needs to be a
balance between actually caring and giving your patients the attention and satisfaction that they
deserve. Some physicians take advantage of their patient's vulnerability of being sick by pushing
them aside, and worrying more about the fastest way to make money. However, the physician then
loses another patient because of greed.
Saramago represents trust in a very similar manor, yet instead he describes a man who is suddenly
overcome with a "white blindness" while stopped at a red light. He explains how an onlooker has
offered to drive the blind man home, and takes advantage of the frantic man's situation by stealing
his car, "that good soul, has taken our car [...] He took advantage of your confusion and distressed

I'm not going to pretend I know what it's like to grow up under racial prejudice. I'm not going to

such as homosexuals, immigrants, Americans, and people with anxiety. Jose Vargas impacts a larger
audience by sharing the personal details of his unconventional lifestyle and the help he received as a
homosexual undocumented immigrant with anxiety. He connects with homosexuals briefly by
explaining that he came out spontaneously one day at school. He does not spend large amounts of
time talking about this aspect of his life, as it does not directly correlate with the essay. Vargas does
tie it together, though, by stating, "Tough as it was, coming out about being gay seemed less
daunting than coming out about my legal status." He also explains how it created tension between
him and his grandparents morally and practically. His grandfather, or Lolo, believed homosexuality

Example Of Demythologizing Rizal
Demythologizing Rizal Whether you are discussing your neighbor, your foe, a government official
or somebody who lived 200 years prior, sex never neglects to catch individuals' attention and
imagination. In spite of a few affirmations about Adolf Hitler's personal life, people still insist about
the gossip that he was an illegitimate son of Klara Polzl and Jose Rizal when Rizal visited Linz in
1887. Individuals attempted to elaborate on the sexual experiences of previous presidents or our
heroes. Many inquired as to whether Andres Bonifacio's dowager, Gregoria de Jesus, was truly
raped by Colonel Agapito Bonzon when they were in imprisonment, or whether without a doubt
General Antonio Luna's better half truly was a presidential progenitor named Isidra Cojuangco. At
whatever point there is negative information around a hero, it is dependably seen as tattles paying
little heed to the documentation. Perhaps this is a method for adapting, on the grounds that our
heroes have been glorified to the point that individuals can't envision ... Show more content on

Essay About Jose San Martin
About Jose San Martin Jose San Martin was one of the Latin American liberators. He was the leader
of Argentina, Chile, and Peru as they revolted against the Spanish rule in the area. San Martin was a
military ruler. He was born in 1778 and died in 1850. Chile attained its independence in 1818,
Argentina, 1812 and Peru, 1821 (Fernandez 14). Most of his tactics involved boldness and patience
along with military tactics. He lived at a time when most of the people in America who were well
educated were Creoles. In fact, some of them had gone to Europe to further their studies. Despite
being quite significant to the liberation of the Latin Americans, he was not always known
historically. In fact, some people today call him the quiet Liberator because he did not always make
himself known (Mayochi 2012) Specifically, San Martin was a leader in Argentina. Argentina was
the first country to gain independence out of the three countries he led (Verley, 2009). The Spanish
rule was still in modern–day Peru and Chile. San Martin and Bolivar met and agreed to liberate the
country. How they come to the agreement is not clear. What is well known is that San Martin gave
Bolivar his army for him to rule. Bolivar, with the help of San Martin's army then brought
independence to these countries. Out of these three countries liberated from Spanish rule, Argentina

Los Reynoso, Jalisco, Mexico. The town's population has remained stagnant for the past few
decades due to the high amount of emigration. Attempting to find demographic information on the
town has proven to be a difficult task, due to its size and lack of an independent government. San
Jose is not represented in many of the government statistical databases; however, third–party
websites like mexico.pueblosamerica.com and wikipedia.org have allowed me to estimate the
population to be somewhere between 900 and 1,800 residents. Given its small population, the town
doesn't have its own central government. Instead it operates under San Miguel El Alto, ... Show

Among them, the largest impulses are cultural, economic, and political motives. A study published
in 2004 by Dr. Ludger Pries, studies the transnational migration patterns of 648 individuals through
personal accounts, surveys, and interviews. The study "consisted of 200 women and 448 men, and
the average age was 32.3 years" (Pries 8). The gender gap is consistent with the migration patterns
we see in San Jose De Los Reynoso. Since the town is so heavily influenced by early Spanish
culture, as well as strong catholic ideology, gender roles are openly accepted and standard within the
average household. Males are viewed as the providers and Women are typically housewives. This
cultural stance pushes many men to move out of the town in order to seek a higher wages since they
are the family's sole source of

Short Story Breakfast At Mcdonalds
After I felt the warmth of human love by reading the wonderful story of Breakfast At McDonalds, I
can relate this story because my husband always helps others. He is the most generous and bravest
man I have ever known. Actually, because he always helps others and that is who he is, we met in
San Jose in 1997: he offered me his help when I was lost in San Jose while my vacation in America.
He offers his generosity and grace in many occasions, and his grace makes me proud to be his wife.
Once was in Santa Cruz, Boardwalk. He spotted a group of the boys (about ages of 12–14) were
buying meals at a burger shop. One of the boys was just standing and was not purchasing any meal.
Suddenly, my husband walked up to the boy and gave him $10.00 and told him ... Show more

He does not spend money for himself but is very generous to others. One more incident that I have
never forgotten, we were on the road north from Sacramento, suddenly a vehicle crashed into an
island of the roared right after the car passed us. My husband just stopped our car on the side of the
road and then was running and calling 911 at the same time. He dragged out a woman, who was
driving, from the car and rescued her because her car was smoking. Everything happened within a
couple minutes in front of my eyes. Sometime I believe that he has a purpose in saving others
because he saves people all the time. My husband says that some reason things happen in front of
his eyes. I believe my husband is my salvation because he saved me from my life which was not
ideal situation, and he gave me peace and security in my life. I am not just talking about he helped
me when I was lost). He has purposed to give grace to people and save others. My husband have
never hesitated to save someone and does the right thing because he is a man who believes the God.

means, my mother, in Aramaic the Jesus spoke), and we have daughters, Faith and

Theological Reflection. As a Christian, I considered Jose as my brother, and we were companion
(for those minutes) in our journey. When he shows me his notebook, I noticed he is a Christian
(because I saw many stickers with the image of God), therefore, I can conclude he is a man of faith.
Jose in Christ and his faith, made me recall Paul's message: "But now that faith is come, we are no

Qualities Of Jose Rizal
How can someone be considered as a hero? What are the traits and characteristics that are expected
to be possessed by a hero? A person's perception of what a hero is varies from one another but there
are certain characteristics that every hero has such as courage, altruistic , charismatic, visionary and
a strong will to name a few. As we all know, Dr. Jose P. Rizal is the Philippine national hero and he
certainly have all the above mentioned characteristics. The most important question is: how did he
acquire these heroic traits? Was he really born and destined to be a hero? The answer is no. He was
born an ordinary human being, an ordinary Filipino. His nationalistic virtue developed throughout
his life and was not a natural acquisition. Personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Finance Major Essay
The definition of finance is rather complex but Merriam Webster seems to provide the most
comprehensive explanation, stating, "the management of revenues; the conduct or transaction of
money matters generally, especially those affecting the public, as in the fields of banking and
investment" (Merriam Webster). The management of revenues is essentially the core of what
separates the jobs of finance majors, compared to other business–related majors such as accounting
and economics. While accountants identify where the money comes from, the finance people
identify how to best use that money. While economic majors study how to grow the entire economy
of a country, finance majors study how to value a company. The reason behind my decision to
pursue a major in finance is because I want to study how to manage money in a company and the
role companies play in affecting the banking system. Also, I am convinced that majoring in finance
is one of the most effective and efficient ways in becoming a successful entrepreneur. As a finance
major, I can only study; as a successful entrepreneur, I will be equipped with the resources to
improve the lives of hundreds if not thousands of people. According to Techtarget.com, "Silicon
Valley continues to be one of the country 's leading regions for high–tech innovation and
development, accounting for about one–third of all venture capital investment in the United States"

My Careers : A Career As A Career
Careers had always been the number priority in my mind since I was a kid. I wanted to grow up fast

from Elementary and Middle School, I thought it was nothing. Being in school was easy, so I never
understood why people dropped out or they never got to pursue their dreams. It wasn't until high
school that things started to slowly fall apart. I did not have any short or long goals to work towards,
so I started to slack off. If I had received a C, then it was "whatever". I was still unsure what career I
wanted to enter because I was too busy not caring. My sister knew that I love helping people when I

Retraction Controversy Of Rizal
Rizal's Retraction Controversy
As of today, there is still an ongoing dispute regarding the controversy of Rizal's retraction before
his execution on the 30th of December, 1896. Other people insist that Rizal did retract while some
says that he did not. There are different evidences that appeared to defend each side. There were
four well–known reasons behind Rizal's retraction. First, He wanted to marry Josephine Bracken
and to make her his wife legally. Second, He wanted to protect his family. Third, He wanted to
reforms from the Spanish Government. Lastly, He wanted to heal the sickness of the Catholic
Church. All theories came from the retraction paper that was written by Rizal. In the said retraction
paper, Rizal wrote that he is taking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Father Balaguer's statement, he said that Rizal retracted because he wanted to marry Josephine
Bracken, who was a Catholic, but when he was asked to show a certificate, he was not able to
present anything. It was impossible for the marriage to be the reason of retraction because there was
no marriage certificate found. There was no certificate that legalizes the marriage between Josephine
Bracken and Jose Rizal.
Rizal was not buried with a good standing. Rizal's body was buried ten months after his death. He
was also buried without a coffin in a cemetery for Anti–Catholic Church. He should have been
buried properly if ever he was converted back to the Catholicism.
In my opinion, Rizal did not retract before his execution. After reading some of the articles, I was
convinced that he did not retract. If he retracted before his execution, then why was he not buried
properly? He was buried in the place for those who are against the Catholic Church. He did not even
get a proper burial. If he died as a catholic, they should have given him the burial that deserves.
Why would he marry Josephine Bracken if he was to die? It was said earlier that the retraction was
made for Rizal to be able to marry the love of his life, which is Josephine Bracken, then why was
there no marriage certificate presented. Besides, why would he even bother to marry Josephine
Bracken if he will die the next

Mexico in 1908, and in 1928 he moved to New York City after majoring in dance at UCLA. Before
going to school he attended the military in the United States to pay for college. He later established
his own company in 1946, for dancers to perform his art ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

To make it seem more like Limon style, I exaggerated on a few of my movements. For hand
gestures that was created, I added body weight movement to go with it as well. For any chance that I
could find the opportunity to add exaggeration or weight change, I would use it. Realizing that from
what it originally started to the Limon style it changed a lot. With this new version I can feel that I
need to have more control over the center of my torso. In many of my movements now involve the
weight of head moving from downward to up, which as well had to do with the timing of swings
given. If both the original piece and the Limon version piece were dances at the same time, they
would be considered two different pieces. As the original one was more of neutral movements that
have no dynamic to it. Experimenting with the movement of Jose Limon brought energy to my piece
that captured people's attention. Many of the movement is not as stylish as lyrical movement, but
yes it is still interesting. Learning about Limon taught me many new movement that can be used to
choreograph pieces. For this dance to be my last choreographed piece in high school, it turned out
better then I

Blindness And Socialism

  • 1. Blindness And Socialism Blindness Blindness by Jose Saramago is a piece that shows many examples of political ideologies. The two most prominent being conservatism and socialism. Now, Jose Saramago being a prominent believer in the ideas of socialism as a whole, it is no surprise that his book Blindness includes many scenes that portray, in favor, the fundamental concepts of socialist beliefs. This includes the variety of the people who were blinded and the cooperation and organization of the main party involved. But, it is interesting to point out that he also includes examples of the beliefs of conservatism but also scenes where he criticizes it. This can be shown in scenes like when the food starts being stolen in quarantine and in the rise in the leadership of the man with the gun. A concept of socialism is that everyone should be equal and that there should be no class distinctions based on ownership to promote an equal playing field for all members of society. We see this concept in action when the wave of blindness affects people of all classes, from a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Socialists believe that cooperation and groups are preferred over competition and individualism. This cooperation results in strengthened bonds within the community and this is exactly what we see throughout this book. An example would be the relationship between the members of the doctor's ward. This can be seen in the decision of the women to comply with being used as payment in order to get food. Even if they do not want to, they do it for the collective good. Not one of them stays behind, and when they return they all shower together and this shows the growing bond between them. Another example is when they escape the compound and decide to stick together because they realized there is nothing left for them in their homes and that they are better off with each other. This relationship goes to show the power they have as a group, and not acting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Pros And Cons Of Rizal Bayot, Jezza, B. SS14– A1 Retraction Controversy On Dr. Jose Rizal's day of execution, many supposition circulated about him revoking his words and his actions. This issue became a long term debate from then on until now. Some people profess that Jose Rizal retracted while others assert that he did not. This controversy cannot be ignored especially that we are talking about a man who has been recognized as the national hero of the country. One of the definitions of a hero and also my definition, is a person who is willing to die for the sake of others while a national hero is a person willing to die for the country, the point is if Rizal's retraction papers were true, it only proves that he could not die for our country and I would be disappointed that he was declared as our national hero. According to my research, the person behind Rizal's retraction papers was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rizal ask forgiveness to his father for the pain that Jose Rizal pays his father after giving him education while Jose Rizal told his brother that he will die with a clean conscience. With these information, it proves that Jose Rizal is not afraid to die and had accepted the truth that he will come to an end. In the modern time, several investigations occur, analyzing if the retraction papers of Jose Rizal were valid. Ricardo Pascual who studied many documents of Rizal claimed that the retraction letter was not written by Jose Rizal. Famous personalities like Senator Rafael Palma believe that Jose Rizal I has a mature personality and retraction is not Jose Rizal's thing. After my research, I clearly know what side am I on. I believe that Dr. Jose Rizal did not retract. Jose Rizal wanted to retract is because he wanted to marry Josephine Bracken but there are no proof, no certificates and witnesses. Dona Trining cleared out that Jose Rizal did not marry Bracken and Jose Rizal had never spoken about marriage to his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. A Short Story : The Story Of My Life Story of my Life I was born Portland, Oregon raised there for five years. I lived fifteen minutes outside a small town called Forest Grove which was an hour outside of Portland. Grow up in a Christian home all my life. I have three other siblings two are older and the other is younger. I have a brother is twenty–four, then I have a sister that is twenty–one and a brother who is fifteen. In the five year that I lived in Oregon we went to Solid Life Center and my parents were youth pastors. We lived in Gaston a very small town outside of Forest Grove. At the age of five the Lord told my family to move to Costa Rica. This came as a shock but we still follow where the Lord was leading. So we sold our house and most of our stuff. So we raised support and moved down to Costa Rica. It is in Central America, everyone speaks spanish and a very relational culture. Costa Rica has only two seasons consisting of winter and summer. Winter is rainy while summer is hot and sunny. We moved August of 2004 to San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, and started a language school there. We attended the school for a year and learned spanish. We move about two and a half hours away to a place called Siquirres. We worked with an orphanage of about one hundred kids in the port city of Limon which was an hour away from Siquirres. We would play game, then have a Bible lesson and then we would play more games. We went there just to love on the kid that were there. We livered there for one year when the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Reflection Of Jose Rizal Play The play was not what I expected. The characters, the plot surpassed my expectations. The play was excellent. It was really worth my money and time. I read about Rizal's sacrifices but to actually see it with my eyes was an eye opener and truly moved my heart. Reading and seeing are actually different things. I'm not a fan of historical movies or even play but this one was actually different from any other. It is a different experience when you saw the events straight out from your history book and I was caught off guard with the experience presented to me by this play. And, when the audience left the hall, each one of them brought home different life lessons and realizations on the life of Rizal. Since we all have a background of the life of Rizal, I thought that the play was predictable but I was really amazed with the play because you can really see the hard work of each character, the efforts they've put. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We have this admiration of the work in the West that we watched their films, buy their products, and eat their food that we sometimes lost our identity on the way. We idolized them too much that we are blinded that ours is much better than theirs. Jose Rizal was our national hero because he loved the country. That love drove him to fight. The message of the play was also, fight for our freedom, fight for what we think is right. So in every decision our government made, we must be updated as to keep us well–informed with what's happening in our society. The play is an eye opener to every people who turned blind on the injustices and prejudices of our society. As Rizal once quoted, "Ang kabataan ay ang pag–asa ng bayan", it is up to us to stand our ground and fight. Even with the burial of Marcos, students went out and rallied. Teenagers posted about their thoughts and opinions in the social media, standing up on their own. Rizal placed his trust on us, and it is in our hands not to put his trust on ... • 9. Don Jose Marias Americo Paredes brings to life the struggles of the US Southwest and Mexico Border reforms that come as an effect of the Revolution. Paredes examines main characters Cuitla's and Don Jose Marias shift between the traditional life of their heritage and the new capitalist society that is emerging through agricultural reform. The adjustment of Cuitla's and Don Jose Marias into this new capitalist driven era shows the difficulties that the American Southwest has endured in relation to land loss, the new economy and the identity of its people. Cuitla's role as the "presidente" or boss on the large communal farm as well as Don Jose Marias relationship with the community constantly reminds the reader of the social reform, as well as the agrarian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only that but El Torro continued "to talk about taking up all the land up to the rivers edge and driving the landowners out" (Paredes, 30). Don Jose Marias is outraged and refuses to give up more land as well as the land he has on the riverbank due to the rich family history it holds. This anger had only built on future encounters the two had and leads to Don Jose Marias deciding he is going to have El Torro killed by a hit man, who successfully does so. Once the field workers or peones find out that El Torro has died they automatically know it is a landowner due to their mutual hate for each other. This specific conflict that takes place between El Torro, Don Jose Marias and the field workers shows the direct relation that has formed between classes due to the social reform from a traditional egalitarian society to a hierarchical society that the border area had ... Domingo created this piece of art work in 1957. The painting was based upon real life events that happen day to day. It was one event that really stood out to Domingo which took place in 1957 in Little Rock, Arkansas. The painting is about nine black students who tried to enter one of the most highly accomplished and prestigious school in Arkansas, Little Rock High School on September 23, 1997. As these students were entering the school they got assaulted with stones, rocks and rubbish by the whites. • 13. Inflation In San Jose According to Chapter 17 of Real Estate Principles by Charles J. Jacobus, the main reason rent control is used today is to protect against inflation. But what happens when inflation is not a huge problem anymore? Will rent control still be effective? A study was performed in San Jose about their 1979 rent control ordinance which showed that the ordinance did little to actually restrain rent. The current ordinance allows for a tenant's rent to increase 8% per year if the unit was built before 1980. People in San Jose and surrounding areas have been experiencing rent hikes for years and they are tired of it. The study showed that for rent controlled units, there was a 21% increase in rent between 1990 and 2014. For units that were not regulated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Jose Rodriquez Although I may love reading, non–fiction books have never been what I love. I believe that it is hard to make a fiction book interesting and inviting because it is suppose to be all facts, and you never want to alter the facts so much that you stay away from the real meaning. As I first began to read the book it certainly did not catch my attention, it was all facts, just strict hard facts. When I began to read more into I thought that maybe if I put myself in his shoes it would be more interesting because then it would be like I am him and I can relate more if I thought that it was me doing everything. I believe that freedom doesn't come free, and I understand that this book shows that. This man gave his life to help America. After 9/11 every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I grew up in a small town with two amazing parents, but no one would have ever thought that I was going to grow up and be a lawyer, a criminal one at that. Jose Rodriquez moved around a lot, saw some uncommon things, and experienced a lot in his youth, making him the man he is today. I like that he told us how he grew up and what he went threw, because for me that gives me more of an insight to why he did the things he did and why he is the man he is. To me, getting an insight of how things work in the CIA is incredible, I have family members that are in the Marines and like the CIA there are certain things that they are not allowed to talk about, but I have never had a CIA insight and its actually very appealing. Reading more into his life I find that because he is not from America he is more humble. I grew up by the border of Mexico, and the men and women that came from Mexico and made if far such as being lawyers, doctors, nurses, anything that would provide for their family, were more humble. I believe they are because unlike someone who is home grown, they have to work ten times harder to make it in America than anyone else. As for Jose he made it very far and I don't feel that he could have done it unless he went threw what he did and worked like he did. Not everyone can go to law school and pass the Bar and make it to the CIA. Not everyone can be as great as him and accomplish what he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In my senior year in high school, my English teacher told us that one of his favourite novels is the "Mass" by F. Sionil Jose. My seatmate that time seconded and told me that F. Sionil Jose is her favourite author but I didn't have any reaction because of the fact that I don't know him or ever heard his creations. • 21. Blindness By Jose Saramago The novel Blindness by Jose Saramago uses an epidemic of blindness as the means to illustrate the fault in humanity. Blindness in this sense can hold countless differing meaning and values thus making it a prime literate and metaphoric choice to portray his message rather than any other epidemic. The definition of blindness are 1 Sightless; having less than 1/10 of normal vision in the more efficient eye when refractive defects are fully corrected by lenses; 2 Unable or unwilling to discern or judge . Although within the book the form of blindness is in the medical context of lost of vision, the author carries through his underlying message according to the second definition of blindness. Metaphorically the author may have intended to portray the ignorance of society and how being individually oriented may leave us blind to the problems we create. For one within the book one of the main characters: 'the doctor' states "Fighting has always been a form of blindness." Through the doctor's speech the author depicts that the epidemic of blindness arguably allowed them to see that they actually had been blind all along. The fact that we humans can argue, fight and kill each other in a sense leaves us blind since we are unable to see another person's view resulting in fight. Thus in lament terms the unwillingness to view ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 25. Jose Godinez-Samperio With the recent presidential change the U.S. immigration policies and effectiveness are being spotlighted. One of the rather tough issues is how to handle current illegal immigrants and how to put an end to illegal immigration (Schaefer, 2015). Immigrants that come to the United States are looking for the American dream or just for a better life for themselves or their families. Although, the stigma society insinuates is that of all immigrants bring terrorism, drug problems, and employment with them (Schaefer, 2015). Since the problems have been linked to immigrants, Americans have developed a prejudice towards people of Hispanic and Asian descent. Due to this prejudice towards immigrants both illegal and legal immigrants struggle to find employment (Schaefer, 2015). In the case of Jose Godinez–Samperio, a child who entered the United States illegally at the age of nine, because he was brought to America by his family. He was able to gain his bachelor's degree and then the end result a law degree (Allen, 2012). • 27. Essay on Jose Saramago's Blindness When defining the word blindness, it can be interpreted in various ways. Either it can be explained as sightless, or it can be carefully deciphered as having a more complex in–depth analysis. In the novel Blindness, Jose Saramago depicts and demonstrates how in an instant your right to see can be taken in an instant. However, in this novel, blindness is metaphorically related to 'seeing' the truth beyond our own bias opinions. Saramago's novel clearly illustrates themes that describe the importance of the awareness of others, in terms of feeling oppressed by fear, lack of trust, dehumanization, and segregation. He describes in full detail the importance of the government's involvement in the lives of the blind victims, which allows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, "Hispanic women are more likely to be dissatisfied if they feel they have been treated badly by providers and staff and if they do not trust doctors" (Guendelman, Wagner 118). If the patient does not feel a sense of hospitality and see a welcoming smile, it discourages the patient to visit the physician because they feel they are not getting the right medical attention, and tend to be sicker. In addition, "the sicker individual risk exposure to more insults, and this leads them to pull back from the health care system" (119). In a physician/ patient relationship there needs to be a balance between actually caring and giving your patients the attention and satisfaction that they deserve. Some physicians take advantage of their patient's vulnerability of being sick by pushing them aside, and worrying more about the fastest way to make money. However, the physician then loses another patient because of greed. Saramago represents trust in a very similar manor, yet instead he describes a man who is suddenly overcome with a "white blindness" while stopped at a red light. In spite of a few affirmations about Adolf Hitler's personal life, people still insist about the gossip that he was an illegitimate son of Klara Polzl and Jose Rizal when Rizal visited Linz in 1887. • 35. Essay About Jose San Martin About Jose San Martin Jose San Martin was one of the Latin American liberators. He was the leader of Argentina, Chile, and Peru as they revolted against the Spanish rule in the area. San Martin was a military ruler. He was born in 1778 and died in 1850. Chile attained its independence in 1818, Argentina, 1812 and Peru, 1821 (Fernandez 14). Most of his tactics involved boldness and patience along with military tactics. He lived at a time when most of the people in America who were well educated were Creoles. In fact, some of them had gone to Europe to further their studies. Despite being quite significant to the liberation of the Latin Americans, he was not always known historically. In fact, some people today call him the quiet Liberator because he did not always make himself known (Mayochi 2012) Specifically, San Martin was a leader in Argentina. Argentina was the first country to gain independence out of the three countries he led (Verley, 2009). The Spanish rule was still in modern–day Peru and Chile. San Martin and Bolivar met and agreed to liberate the country. How they come to the agreement is not clear. What is well known is that San Martin gave Bolivar his army for him to rule. The management of revenues is essentially the core of what separates the jobs of finance majors, compared to other business–related majors such as accounting and economics. While accountants identify where the money comes from, the finance people identify how to best use that money. While economic majors study how to grow the entire economy of a country, finance majors study how to value a company. The reason behind my decision to pursue a major in finance is because I want to study how to manage money in a company and the role companies play in affecting the banking system. When I was younger, I was always taught that education was a major key to a successful future because it unlocks vast amounts of experiences and it shows resilience. If a person can balance his or her education with his or her life circumstances, then he or she can accomplish anything; my grandmother is responsible for this belief. I am a Dean's Scholar in the College of Business. One of five incoming freshman from the 2014 fall semester to receive the award. Part of the scholarship required me to take a leadership class; the leadership class consisted of learning about individuals who innovated the world with their particular mindset. Additionally, I was able to hear Bob Rothkopf speak about his experiences and his faults as a leader. He was the President of three different companies and now teaches the Dean's Scholars every year. Taking the class allowed me to further envision my goals becoming true. I am also in the Honors Program at this institution, and that has taught me to expand my knowledge on subjects I never thought I would enjoy. My goal as a student at the college of business is to pass the CPA exam. I have not explored the Accounting field enough to desire a job in the private or public level, but both strike my interests. I am also involved with Lambda Sigma, Deaf Pride, and the Forensics Team here on campus. Out of all of those things, the Forensics team has taught me to expand my ideas and analyze situations in a timely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. My Careers : A Career As A Career Careers had always been the number priority in my mind since I was a kid. I wanted to grow up fast and get a career as a lawyer. I never thought about the educational part of it. When I had graduated from Elementary and Middle School, I thought it was nothing. Being in school was easy, so I never understood why people dropped out or they never got to pursue their dreams. It wasn't until high school that things started to slowly fall apart. I did not have any short or long goals to work towards, so I started to slack off. If I had received a C, then it was "whatever". I was still unsure what career I wanted to enter because I was too busy not caring. My sister knew that I love helping people when I can and expect nothing in return, so she told me about field that she could see me in: psychology. I immediately got hooked on it because I was curious about how the brain works and why people do the things they do. During my junior year, I had told my sister that I am going to be majoring in psychology and will be attending San Jose State University for my degree. In my senior year, I was able to attend a psychology course as part of an elective. I got bored of it the first few weeks because there was too much science and scientific terms. I wanted the class to be more realistic where we pretend to be psychologists and help patients with psychological problems. Towards the end of my Senior year, I filled out an application to San Jose State University. However, I did not hit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 75. Retraction Controversy Of Rizal Rizal's Retraction Controversy As of today, there is still an ongoing dispute regarding the controversy of Rizal's retraction before his execution on the 30th of December, 1896. Other people insist that Rizal did retract while some says that he did not. There are different evidences that appeared to defend each side. There were four well–known reasons behind Rizal's retraction. First, He wanted to marry Josephine Bracken and to make her his wife legally. Second, He wanted to protect his family. Third, He wanted to reforms from the Spanish Government. Lastly, He wanted to heal the sickness of the Catholic Church. All theories came from the retraction paper that was written by Rizal. In the said retraction paper, Rizal wrote that he is taking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Father Balaguer's statement, he said that Rizal retracted because he wanted to marry Josephine Bracken, who was a Catholic, but when he was asked to show a certificate, he was not able to present anything. It was impossible for the marriage to be the reason of retraction because there was no marriage certificate found. There was no certificate that legalizes the marriage between Josephine Bracken and Jose Rizal. Rizal was not buried with a good standing. Rizal's body was buried ten months after his death. He was also buried without a coffin in a cemetery for Anti–Catholic Church. He should have been buried properly if ever he was converted back to the Catholicism. In my opinion, Rizal did not retract before his execution. After reading some of the articles, I was convinced that he did not retract. If he retracted before his execution, then why was he not buried properly? He was buried in the place for those who are against the Catholic Church. He did not even get a proper burial. If he died as a catholic, they should have given him the burial that deserves. Why would he marry Josephine Bracken if he was to die? It was said earlier that the retraction was made for Rizal to be able to marry the love of his life, which is Josephine Bracken, then why was there no marriage certificate presented. Besides, why would he even bother to marry Josephine Bracken if he will die the next ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While making a piece for the senior concert, I realized that it does have some limon movement. As I look up information about Jose Limon I realized that he was also Mexican. There are a lot of things that I found out about him that connects to the dances I have done in the past. In the past years in dance class we will alway do a lot of Limon. Jose Limon was born in Culiancan Mexico in 1908, and in 1928 he moved to New York City after majoring in dance at UCLA. Before going to school he attended the military in the United States to pay for college. He later established his own company in 1946, for dancers to perform his art ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To make it seem more like Limon style, I exaggerated on a few of my movements. For hand gestures that was created, I added body weight movement to go with it as well. For any chance that I could find the opportunity to add exaggeration or weight change, I would use it. Realizing that from what it originally started to the Limon style it changed a lot. With this new version I can feel that I need to have more control over the center of my torso. In many of my movements now involve the weight of head moving from downward to up, which as well had to do with the timing of swings given. If both the original piece and the Limon version piece were dances at the same time, they would be considered two different pieces. As the original one was more of neutral movements that have no dynamic to it. Experimenting with the movement of Jose Limon brought energy to my piece that captured people's attention. Many of the movement is not as stylish as lyrical movement, but yes it is still interesting. Learning about Limon taught me many new movement that can be used to choreograph pieces.
