NEW – Shred It
Directorate of Environmental Management will hold a shredding event Monday,
April 23 from 9 to 10 a.m. at building 29 and from 10 to 11 a.m. at building 62 on Fort
McNair. On Tuesday, April 24, the “Shred it” vehicle will be at Henderson Hall and
Fort Myer on the following schedule:
The truck will be at Henderson Hall’s building 29 on Tuesday, April 24 from 9 a.m.
to 2 p.m.
The truck will be at Fort Myer’s Bldg. 59 on Tuesday, April 24 from 10 a.m. to 11
p.m. and at Fort Myer’s Bldg. 321 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Here’s how it works: Bring whatever materials you have to be shredded. This can be in
boxes, bags, piles – no problem. There is a limit of five boxes. JBM-HH’s partner in
shredding will transfer your documents into a container to be lifted and tipped into the
shredding unit. You can watch your documents being securely destroyed right on the
truck. Shred because you can prevent identity theft – those documents will be history;
all shredded material is recycled – good for the earth; and you will meet your neighbors
and colleagues.
Shred this: paper, manila folders, staples, paper clips, rubber bands.
Don’t shred this: newspaper, credit cards, CDs, cardboard, three-ring binders,
binder clips.
In addition there will be an electronics shredding event on Thursday, April 25 at
building 321 on the Fort Myer portion of JBM-HH from 9 to 11 a.m. Personal property
