What are the working principles of different artificial light sourcesErinChen37
Light is a form of radiant energy that travels in waves made up of vibrating electric and magnetic fields. These waves have both a frequency and a length, the values of which distinguish light from other forms of energy on the electromagnetic spectrum.
Visible light, as can be seen on the electromagnetic spectrum, represents a narrow band between ultraviolet light (UV) and infrared energy (heat). These light waves are capable of exciting the eye's retina, which results in a visual sensation called sight. Therefore, seeing requires a functioning eye and visible light.
What is the light spectrum of different visible light sources ErinChen37
What is the light spectrum of different visible light sources ?
The visible spectrum is the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, Visible light comprises only a tiny fraction of the entire electromagnetic radiation spectrum, yet it contains the only region of frequencies to which the rods and cones of the human eye will respond. The wavelengths that humans are typically able to visualize lie in a very narrow range between approximately 400 and 700 nanometers. In terms of frequency, this corresponds to a band in the vicinity of 400–790 THz. Humans can observe and respond to stimuli created by visible light because the eyes contain specialized nerve endings that are sensitive to this range of frequencies. However, the remainder of the electromagnetic spectrum is invisible. These boundaries are not sharply defined and may vary per individual.Under optimal conditions these limits of human perception can extend to 310 nm (UV) and 1100 nm.
Organic Light Emitting Diode works on the same principle as that of a Light emitting Diode which is Electroluminescence.
Which is a result of radiative recombination of Electrons and holes in any Semiconductor Material. These organic LEDs can be classified on several basis such as on the basis of matrix control, on the basis of type of materials used, on the basis of direction in which light exits the surface of OLED,And there several other type of OLEDs such as foldable OLED, Transparent OLED etc.
There are also many methods of manufacturing OLEDs most used of which are inkjet printing and vapor phase deposition etc.
Then finally comes the applications and advantages of this technique. As like LEDs, OLEDs also have a wide area of applications such as in VDUs, PDAs, handheld devices (Like mobile Phones, handheld Gaming consoles), and its future uses include wearable electronics. But as the coin have 2 faces so this technique also have some drawbacks like it is not waterproof and few more which include life time of the device and others.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

The infamous Mallox is the digital Robin Hoods of our time, except they steal from everyone and give to themselves. Since mid-2021, they've been playing hide and seek with unsecured Microsoft SQL servers, encrypting data, and then graciously offering to give it back for a modest Bitcoin donation.
Mallox decided to go shopping for new malware toys, adding the Remcos RAT, BatCloak, and a sprinkle of Metasploit to their collection. They're now playing a game of "Catch me if you can" with antivirus software, using their FUD obfuscator packers to turn their ransomware into the digital equivalent of a ninja.

This document provides a analysis of the Target Company ransomware group, also known as Smallpox, which has been rapidly evolving since its first identification in June 2021.
The analysis delves into various aspects of the group's operations, including its distinctive practice of appending targeted organizations' names to encrypted files, the evolution of its encryption algorithms, and its tactics for establishing persistence and evading defenses.
The insights gained from this analysis are crucial for informing defense strategies and enhancing preparedness against such evolving cyber threats.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
3. AN INTRODUCTION TO
INDUCTION LIGHTING
WHAT IS INDUCTION LIGHTING?
A hybrid fluorescent lamp technology first introduced in
1891 that eliminates the need for electrodes and filaments;
generating light by means of a high frequency transmission
of energy combined with a gas discharge.
As with conventional fluorescent lamps, varying the composition of the
phosphors coated onto the inside of induction lamps, allows for models with
different color temperatures. Unlike conventional fluorescent technology there
are no failures caused by filament erosion, vibration, or seal breach.

HOW DOES INDUCTION LIGHTING WORK?
EXTERNAL INDUCTOR LAMPS
External magnetic induction lamps are essentially fluorescent lamps with
electromagnets wrapped around a section of the lamp tube. High frequency energy,
from the electronic ballast (generator), is sent through wires, which are wrapped in
a coil around the ferrite inductor, creating a powerful magnet.
The induction coil produces a very strong magnetic field which travels through
the glass and excites the mercury atoms in the interior which are provided by a
pellet of amalgam (a solid form of mercury). The mercury atoms emit UV light and,
just as in a fluorescent tube, the UV light is up-converted to visible light by the
phosphor coating on the inside of the tube. The system can be considered as a
type of transformer where the inductor is the primary coil while the mercury atoms
within the envelope/tube form a single-turn secondary coil.
4. INTERNAL INDUCTOR LAMPS
In a variation of this technology, Internal magnetic induction lamps use
a light bulb shaped glass lamp, which has a test-tube like re-entrant
central cavity. This cavity is coated with phosphors on the interior, filled
with inert gas and a pellet of mercury amalgam. The induction coil is
wound around a ferrite shaft which is inserted into the central test-tube
like cavity. The inductor is excited by high frequency energy provided
by an external electronic ballast (generator) causing a magnetic field to
penetrate the glass and excite the mercury atoms, which emit UV light,
that is converted to visible light by the phosphor coating.

HOW LONG WILL AN INDUCTION
LAMP & BALLAST OPERATE?
HighHorse external induction lamps typically have a longer life (80k
Hrs-100k Hrs) than internal induction lamps (60k Hrs-80k Hrs).
External induction lamps manage heat either by convection through
the air or conduction into the fixture. HighHorse internal induction
lamps operate with a higher internal temperature and must cool by
conduction to the base heat sink and by radiation through the glass
walls. With both lamp types a small percentage of mercury ions are
absorbed by the phosphor coating over time; once the mercury ions
inside the envelope are depleted, the lamp emits only a very dim light
and has to be replaced.
HighHorse Electronic Ballasts (generators) are warranted for five years.
(Actual life expectancy can be significantly longer with proper thermal
management.)
