Reobijn Plastic Products in Haaksbergen has recently installed NTF Micro filtration systems on all of their injection
moulding equipment.
Frans Dijkhof, technical director at Reobijn: “within our preventive maintenance schedule we take annual oil samples.”
Clean oil is crucial within our production process, Reobijn uses 2 k tons injection moulding equipment and contamination
causes major problems in lining up our injection equipment resulting in rejects.
The last oil analyses showed severe contaminated oil and it was advised to flush and do an oil change. However Chemically the
oil was in a good condition, so we decided to test the NTF Micro Filtration System. The test was closely obeserved and an oil
sample was taken and analized every 24 hours. Already after the first 24 uur all 200 gallons of the oil were within specifications
again and suitable for further use according to the Laboratory reports. After 168 hours solid particle and water contamination
were reduced by 98 % and the ISO code of 14/12/09 is even better than the new Hydraulic fluid as supplied to Reobijn.
Now the NTF Micro Filtration Systems are installed on all of our equipment saving materials, labor/down time and
significantly increasing the reliabillity and quality.

38. Wagenborg Nedlift offers a wide variety of vertical transport equipment and
owns a modern and divers fleet of over a hundred units. From single lifts using
one hydraulic crane to complicated projects using a large variety of equipment.
Wagenborg Nedlift is using NTZ micro filtration on the engines of its cranes for
over 15 years
Jan Winkels chief Technical Department:
We apply NTZ bypass filtration on the engines of our cranes since 1990.
Nowadays we use a full synthetic oil, which normally needs to be replaced
every 1000 hours. By applying a NTZ filter we have been able to stretch the oil
change interval from 1000 to 2000 hours, thereby saving 2500 liters of engine
oil and 50 man hours annually.
Next to these direct costs it also saves us a lot of problems for the planning
department. Since we only need to change oil once a year we can maximize
implementation of our equipment.

61. Field Test Cases
Objectives
As the majority of hydraulic failures are caused by contamination of the hydraulic fluid the
component manufacturers are setting required cleanliness levels according ISO code 4406 (
see Appendix A ) in relation to their warranty.
After a recent hydraulic pump replacement the initiative was taken to determine if the
operational system cleanliness on the Vammas 5500H snow broom was within the ISO
specification of 18 / 15 as set by Rexroth, the manufacturer of the pump. ( see Appendix B )
At the same time the positive effects of High Efficiency Depth filtration were tested.
On site oil analysis was also done to determine the ISO cleanliness of the new hydraulic
fluids used.
62. Field Test Cases
Results and Conclusions
Oil samples were taken from the oil sump of the Vammas and analyzed with the Parker CM
– 20 Bottle sampler unit ( see Appendix C ) according the ISO 4406 cleanliness code.
Similar procedure was followed for the oil samples taken of the New General Hydraulic oil
and the New Tractor Hydraulic fluid.
An OLFS – 29 High efficiency Off line filter ( see Appendix D ) was installed on the
Vammas and filtered the hydraulic fluid for one hour.
All test results were plotted and are shown in graphics as well.
All samples before filtration and new fluid were out of the specifications as set by Rexroth
for their warranty.
Samples after 1 hour of filtration were within warranty specifications
Recommendations
It is highly recommended that all new fluids present in the storage containers is filtered as
soon as possible.
Installation of improved filtration on the hydraulic systems of the Vammas is necessary to
reach the required ISO class for warranty of components.
Improved filtration will lead to overall lower costs, extended component life and
improved reliability.

After 1 hour of filtration the system was
within the warranty specifications as set by
the component supplier.
Solid particle contamination was decreased
by an average of 90 %.
Extended filtration will reduce this
contamination further.
64. Field Test Cases
Test procedure and methodology
Oil samples were taken by maintenance staff in laboratory cleaned sample bottles from the oil sump of the
equipment by using a vacuum pump directly installed on the sample bottle to prevent contamination
ingression form the environment.
The New Oil samples were taken directly from the supply lines for the fresh hydraulic fluids in use.
Samples were analyzed on site, in presence of the maintenance staff, using a portable calibrated particle
counter with a bottle sampler.
A portable Off Line Filter unit ( OLFS – 29 ) with a 2 micron Beta > 2000 filter element installed, was
used to determine the effects of High Efficiency Filtration. The suction hose for the OLFS was led into the
oil sump through the original filter housing installed by the OEM and the return line of the OLFS was led
into the Tank vent.
Before the start of the filtration cycle the equipment was started and the broom functions were exercised
to aggravate the contamination in the system in order to get a realistic sample of system cleanliness under
operational conditions.
The OLFS system was operated continuously for a period of 1 hour at a flow rate of 1.6 litres per minute.
At the end of the filter cycle oil samples were taken and analyzed as described above.
( See: Results )
The original print outs from the particle counter were handed over to the maintenance staff and are in their
possession.

NTZ achieves remarkable results: less
breakdown and wear, improved
performance, extended life-time. These
results all add up to structural costs
savings according NTZ Nederland bv.
Willem Versendaal, untill recently
manager of the Dutch based
international road construction
company Koop Tjuchem, has a lot of
experience on the subject.
“When NTZ filters where introduced on the
market, I have tested these system
together
with Dutch Royal Shell. The filter system
appeared to function very well.
So well in fact, that Koop Tjuchem could
skip half the service intervals…”
76. Field Test Cases
In road construction maximum productivity is of utmost importance. With these filters
we only need to change oil of our trucks and machines during frost periods and the
yearly holiday period. By than they have reached appr. 1000 operating hours against
maximum 500 hours before.
Versendaal applied NTZ-filters on engines, hydraulic installations and automatic
transmissions on trucks and construction machines.
“If you also use UCC CM-20 particle counters, the condition of the oil can be constantly
monitored. Including all costs of filters, installation, etcetera a saving of 50 euro cents
per operating hours can be achieved. Provided that a high quality (semi-)synthetic oil is
used.”
77. Field Test Cases
Later on we experienced problems with our machines
equipped with the latest generation of diesel engines, with
common rail technology.
It even ocurred that a new engine needed new pumps and
fuel injectors after only 500 operating hours.
Total costs; a couple of thousands of Euro’s.
Research showed that the combination of high pressure,
2000-2800 Bar and particle contaminated gasoline was fatal
to the pumps and fuel injectors. Due to the ever increasing
emission requirements these high pressures are mandatory;
Combustion under high pressure results in cleaner
emissions.
Since we had excellent experience with NTZ-filters on
engines and hydraulics, these new problems with
contaminated gasoline urged us to test these filter systems
in the main feed line to the engine.
The results met our expectation; Clean gasoline and no
more problems.

83. Reduction in contamination with single-time filtration:
99,995%
The high level of pollution in diesel fuel Causes catastrophic failures
and damage to the fuel system of the modern engines.
For this test, samples of different brands have been taken from various
bunker stations and the solids pollution has been measured
with a laser pollution meter according to ISO 4406 standard.
The diesel fuel is fed one time through a NTZ Micro Filter type AL 29
and then the solid contamination is measured again according to ISO
4406 in the 2, 5, 15, 25, 50 and 100 microns
Particles per 100 ml of fuel.

100. English Translation:
We inform you that your micro oil filter for thermal engines has met the
requirements as set by by the French Army for all power generating units
installed in Kosovo, Bosnia, Afganistan and on different locations of peace
enforcement troups.
The installation of this bypass microfiltration allowed;
-an increase of the mechanical reliability in particularly hard conditions at
these locations
-easier maintenance and a considerable cost reduction
-extended drain intervals and a greater availability of the machines
The majority of the machines has already been in service for over 20.000
operating hours without any major overhaul, whilst running 24 hours a day and
continue to give a broad satisfaction to the users
We are thus pleased to present our planned needs on the market for spare
parts
for which we were a contractor with our group.
We thank you for your cooperation.
