2. Screenshot of Virtual Lab
This image pertains to environmental science
since it shows a part of an online lab that I
did. The lab was on many types of soil
pollution. This lab helped me understand the
different types of soil pollution and what it
affects. It showed me what situations cause
these different types of pollution in the real
world. This lab really helped me see how
everyday tasks some people don’t really think
about is causing damage to the environment.
3. Image of Map
This image pertains to environmental science
since it shows the Ring of Fire. It is an area of
major tectonic activities. It is located on
major tectonic plate boundaries. It includes
divergent, convergent, and transform
boundaries. This creates earthquakes and
volcanic explosions.
4. Image of a Hand-drawn Concept
Map
This image pertains to environmental science
since it shows how a sanitary landfill works.
It shows the processes on how waste gets
stored. It shows how the waste is lined with
many substances like sand and clay to
prevent it to seep into the soil. It also shows
how methane and leachate is extracted from
the waste. Both of those substances then
goes to storage tanks.
5. Image of a Graph
This image pertains to environmental science
since it shows the amount of Natural Gas
production throughout time. It shows the
major increase in consumption of the
resource from the 1990s until now. The
increase in natural gas production would also
increase the amount of emissions. Hopefully,
the graph will decrease in the future due to
more reliance on renewable energy sources.
6. Image of a Political Cartoon
This image pertains to environmental science
since it raises awareness on overfishing. It
shows how overfishing now can cause a food
shortage later. People don’t realize the
resources are not infinite. It can lead to
Tragedy of the Commons. That means that
humans created this problem by
overexploitation.
7. Image of Concept Map
This image pertains to environmental science
since it shows the concept of the water
cycle. The water is cycle is one of the most
important cycles out there. It is also called
the hydraulic cycle. It shows how the sun is
the major source of energy. The sun heats up
water which condenses into clouds then
precipitates, starting the cycle all over again.
8. Image of a Graph
This image pertains to environmental science
since it shows how renewable energy use is
increasing. It shows how people are starting
to use renewable sources and less of
nonrenewable sources. Humans are striving
toward cleaner energy. People use
hydropower the most out of the renewable
sources. Recently, people have increased
solar power use.
9. Image of a Graph
This image pertains to environmental science
since it shows how the changes of global
temperature. It shows how temperature is
increasing throughout time. On the graph, it
shows how temperature rose dramatically in
the 1880s because of the Industrial
Revolution. Now, temperature rises because
of increased emissions. Hopefully by using
more renewable resources, global
temperatures will drop.
10. Image of a Concept Map
This image pertains to environmental science
since it shows the energy pyramid. It also
shows how energy is lost through each
pyramid. The primary producers get all of
sun’s energy and it gets passed to primary
consumers. However, energy is lost as heat.
All levels go to decomposers which allow for
nutrients to be recycled.
11. Screenshot of a Virtual Lab
This image pertains to environmental science
since it depicts of a lab on population
limiting factors. It showed how populations
can change. Harsh winters, short summers,
hot summers, and cold springs can all affect
populations. For example, a harsh winter can
reduce the carrying capacity of the rabbit
population. Hot summers, in contrary, can
increase the carrying capacity of rabbits.
