This document discusses Defy Ventures' Prison Entrepreneurship Program (PEP) which provides entrepreneurship training and job readiness skills to incarcerated individuals and former inmates. PEP has graduated over 600 individuals, 98% of whom found employment, and helped start over 60 businesses. Recidivism for PEP graduates is under 5%, much lower than the national average. The program has expanded to 22 states and works with over 1,700 formerly incarcerated individuals. It aims to help participants view themselves as the "CEO of their new life" and over 95% of PEP graduates remain arrest-free and employed.
