In this presentation, the document summarizes what was learned about various technologies through the process of constructing a media product. Specifically:
- Final Cut Pro was used for editing and allowed adding titles/effects from other programs. Various tools like cut, color correction, and sound editing were explored.
- GarageBand was used to create background music by combining sound effects into loops.
- Motion helped design professional-looking titles using different fonts, animations, and effects.
- LiveType and iMac were also utilized for title creation and transferring/viewing footage, respectively. Skills like print screening and embedding videos were developed.
- The camera was used for filming and skills like using HD, reviewing footage

Technologies Learnt Creating Media Product
1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the
process of constructing this
product?
In this presentation I will be talking about the
things that I’ve learnt about technologies and
the techniques and information I have learnt.
2. Final Cut Pro
• Final Cut Pro is a software that allows clips to be put into a film, it has
many tools to help you edit your film and to make it look better. It
corrects sounds and lighting to make your film look professional.
• During the process of editing my film I have learnt many ways of
structuring my media product into a film.
• The first technique I learnt is putting clips into sub clips, this allowed me
to cut things that I don’t want in the scene and then allowed me to put
the shot in a sequence.
• Another tool that I used was the ‘cut’ tool, which I used to cut scenes
shorter and cut the things in the clip that I didn’t want. During the time I
was doing my preliminary task I didn’t know how to use so this
showed that I learnt how to use it and the reason behind it.
• Colour Correction was another tool used in my media product. Th8is
allowed me to adjust the clip saturation, and it also saved me time
because I didn't have to go film the scene again if the lighting was bad
so I just adjusted the saturation to make the lightning and colour better.
3. Final Cut Pro Part 2
• Final cut pro itself allows other programs to be added to it,
for example I designed titles on Livetype and added my final
product from Livetype into final cut pro to add to my film. I
also added my product I made on Motion to Final Cut Pro. I
learnt how to add other products from other programmes to
final cut pro.
• Sounds can not always be the same throughout clips so Final
Cut Pro had a system to help adjust the sound so each clip
doesn’t sound different or too loud or too silent. It also saves
time because you don’t have to redo the scene you could
just edit the clip instead. I learnt how to adjust the sound of
each clip to make it sound good.
• I learnt how to add music that I've created on GarageBand to
Final Cut Pro. By putting the music into iTunes first.
4. • GarageBand is a whole music creation studio right inside your Mac —
complete with keyboard, synths, orchestral and percussion
instruments, presets for guitar and voice, an entirely redesigned
sound library, and virtual session drummers. A beautiful and intuitive
interface makes it easy to learn, play, record, and create
great-sounding songs. And you can share your hits worldwide with
just a few clicks. It’s never been easier to make music like a pro. Even
if you’ve never played a note.
• I learnt how to use GarageBand because I needed to create music to
add to my film. I learnt how to add sound effects into a loop to
create music for the background of my film. For example I needed to
have a police siren sound effect so I used GarageBand to find a
police siren sound. I learnt how to search for specific sound because
it was in categories.
• I learnt how to match certain sounds together to create good overall
sound track. It was so easy to use because it was simple, I started
knowing nothing about it and after a few minutes on it I learnt
nearly everything to do with GarageBand. I knew what settings I
had to put it in and also learnt that I needed to convert my sound
track to iTunes

5. • Motion is a program where you can create fancy, cool and professional titles.
Motion is an interface designed especially for editors. Smart templates for
making changes on the fly during editing and easy-to-use motion graphics
tools for creating eye-catching titles, transitions, and effects. Motion is the
perfect companion to Final Cut Pro.
• Over the time I was constructing my film, I learnt how to use Motion. I used
Motion to create my production title, my institution title and my film title.
• I learnt how to use different fonts and effects, for example, I found out that
there was many background effects and animation, I used one animation for
my film title which made the title look more professional.
• I learnt how to edit clips from Final Cut Pro using motion, I used effects to fix
the lighting of the clip and also I learnt how to fix the colour correction.
• I found this program better to use when designing my titles than Livetype
because it had better looking designs and effects and overall it was easier to
use.
• One effect I used for one of my titles is a spotlight, I found out I could record
the movement of the spotlight and then added that movement behind the title
to create a cool effect.
Motion
6. • LiveType was a software program developed by Apple Inc. to
create animated title sequences for video projects. It was
discontinued with the release of Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5, and
Compressor 4.
• In LiveType I learnt how to use different fonts to create titles
because there was variety of fonts. I learnt how to add
animation to the title so when I have the title in my film it will
look professional and good.
• However LiveType wasn’t the best program to use for
making titles because there was Motion but on the other hand
it was much easier to use than Motion.
• I learnt it was important to have the canvas size the same as
the my film or it would look blurry depending if the canvas is
too small or too big.
• I also learnt that I could have my title on show for as long as I
want because LiveType provided me with a timeline to see
how long my title last for and it also allowed me to lengthen
the time if I wished.
LiveType
7. • iMac is where all the magic happened, it had all the
programs I need to construct my media product such as
Livetype, Motion, Final Cut Pro and GarageBand
• I learnt:
- how to print screen
- how to embed YouTube videos from YouTube onto my
blog
- how the command button can highlight my clips on
LiveType
- I learnt how to transfer my clips from the camera onto
the iMac
iMac
8. • The Camera is where all the filming took place, I used
it to film my whole film.
• I learnt how to use HD on my camera to make my
film a better quality than it normally is.
• I learnt how to look over the clips that I've filmed so I
know if I have to redo the film and also because I
knew I could look over the clips I can tell if the shot
could be improved or if is good how it is
• I learnt how to transfer clips from the camera on to
the iMac
• And finally I learnt where the charger goes in the
camera.
