Climate Change Paper
Dr. Sian Ritchie
Opening Sentence:
Climate Change is happening all over and it has extreme consequences. Governor Inslee's plan is
heading in the right direction to solve these problems. To help reduce these consequences we need
to find alternative cleaner resources to use.
Section 1: How climate works Climate change has many factors; albedo is one of many. Albedo is
where the snow and ice reflect sunlight back into space. But as the Earth's temperature continues to
rise the snow and ice are beginning to melt causing the ground and water to absorb the sunlight
heating things up. With the carbon dioxide levels rising throughout the years the ocean absorbed
30% of it, creating acidification, which is killing coral reefs. As this occurs it is destroying the
shelter for many types of fish. With the coral reefs dying the fish population is decreasing
significantly this is a major problem for the areas of the world were catching fish to feed their
families is all they have as a food source. (Hewitt et al., 343–351)
The conveyor belt is being affected as well, due to the rise of carbon dioxide levels. As the snow and
ice melt the large amount of fresh water runs into the ocean making it less salty. When the water
becomes less salty it turns out to be less dense and not able to sink like it should to keep the
conveyor belt going, which keeps Europe from freezing. The level of carbon dioxide and other
greenhouse gases have increased by

Essay The Outbreak Of World War One and Germany
The Outbreak Of World War One and Germany August 4th 1914 marks the date on which Europe
fell into what has become known as "the Great War". What started as a minor squabble between
Austria–Hungary and Serbia, in the space of six weeks, escalated into total war between Europe's
biggest powers. Almost one hundred years later we are no closer to answering the question of who
or what was to blame for it's outbreak. It is easy to assume that Germany were solely to blame,
however this assumption would be incorrect. Germany did, at times have an overbearing influence,
and with many factors, the underlying fault lies with Germany. However, influence of other nations,
states and individuals were also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This economic stability allowed the military to grow and colonise. Germany looked for colonies in
Africa, which antagonised the French and the British who had had colonies there for years. Their
relatively unsuccessful search led to concentration on Europe. Chancellor Bulow said "without a
strong army and navy, there can be no welfare for us". Bismarck provided Germany with a strong
position in Europe by allying with Austria–Hungary in 1879, which encouraged military expansion.
In the early 1900's, Germany's military expanded to greatly and demonstrates their aggressive
nature. The German army and navy could be seen as a means of defence, but whatever the function
of the system, it was intimidating to say the least. The subsequent arms race was as a direct result of
German expansion and created European tension. Their army increased to be just 100,000 less than
that of the Russian army, and their navy expanded ten–fold, which in turn made the British navy
increase (it was British policy to have a navy larger than the second and third largest navies in
Europe put together). French expenditure on defence doubled and Russia, Austria–Hungary and
Italy all increased their armaments. Without the arms race, which Germany sparked, there would
simply not have been the equipment for a war to take

I had originally considered Python as a programming langauge, due to the breadth of libraries of all
kinds. This led me to consider Theano and Caffe as potential neural network libraries. Caffe is
written in C++, with interfaces for Python and MATLAB. However, it seemed to be targeted mostly
towards deep learning networks, with a focus on image processing, and this made it seem quite
complicated for the type of neural network I would be considering. Theano is written in Python, and
has a large amount of documentation and functionality. If I were to have used
Python, I would have likely used Theano, as it provides a large amount of functionality directly
accessible from Python, whereas to extend
Caffe could require modifications to the C++ source. Ultimately, due to the decision to use Java (a
choice explored further in §[language]
Language below), I decided to use the Neuroph framework. Unfortunately there is less choice of
neural network libraries in Java, but given my prior experience with it, it is an easier language to
program in.
Neuroph provided a simple view of Neurons and Connections comprising a
NeuralNetwork, upon which I could extend. This simpler view would

The analysis may also reveal that the staff members of Southwest are suitable. It is very important
that management first has an understanding of the fundamental business problems or opportunities
that the organization may face due to the acquisition. Management will be tasked with making
decisions that will ultimately determine the success or failure of the restructure. Most executives
decide that some level of reorganization is needed whenever there is new business. As it stands,
there are many reorganizations that are unsuccessful because they are not viewing the process
correctly. The reorganization should improve the organizations ability to handle its most important
decisions more effectively. (Blenko, Mankins, & Rogers, 2010)Along with assessing the
workforce, the organization must also identify areas that may need to be restructured to achieve the
goals of the company.
Restructuring the organization will be considered to be a major reconfiguration of the internal
administrative structure that is associated with an intentional management change program. The
goal of the restructuring will include results such as productivity improvements, cost reductions,
increased shareholder value, and/or a better alignment of the organization with a changing
environment. It's important to recognize that although management views restructuring as a source
of order during a turbulent time, their subordinates view restructuring as a source of disorder
because it

User Assistance Paper
User assistance is an important part of any product that helps to improve user experience with a
particular product. Many products that are released for global markets require that user assistance
help and documentation be translated in multiple languages for specific target locales. This paper
presents the process of optimizing user assistance help content for translation in the following two
categories: writing suggestions and technical considerations.
Writing suggestions 1. Use a style guide. A style guide defines the grammar, syntax and tone
translators should use to facilitate a higher quality of translation and convey the source content
accurately.
2. Develop a terminology glossary. A glossary should provide a comprehensive set of terminology
that includes product names, trademarked terms, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Simplify the written language. To make documents clear and easy to translate, keep headlines and
sub–headlines parallel. Use the same term to mean the same thing throughout the documentation.
This can be implemented through the utilization of a source style guide and glossary.
4. Include universal units of measure. Different countries use different units of measure. Lack of
clearly defined units of measure can cause significant confusion and costly errors. Therefore, it is
important to include both metric and imperial measurements in the documentation.
5. Include international phone and date formats. Because phone numbers and date formats vary from
region to region, these formats should be displayed correctly in the source and translated copies of
documentation. For example, in the U.S., phone numbers are expressed as (425) 517–2577.
However, international customers also need to know the country code, which for the US is +1. Thus,
displaying the phone number as +1 425.517.2577 helps international customers. Likewise, many
countries use dd/mm/yyyy. To avoid confusion, it is necessary to indicate clearly which date format
is used or to spell out the

Storage Space Essay
Where is a very large, integrated collection of data in a Server, held? Yes, the Storage Spaces. These
Storage Spaces lets us combine individual hard disks into storage pools and these can then be
managed as a single entity. Storage Spaces is a technology that groups the storage pools and the
storage disks which will enable the virtual storage capabilities in Windows and Windows Server
(Microsoft Corporation, n.d). The available capacity in the storage pools are then used to create
virtual disks which are called storage spaces. Firstly in this paper, I would like to provide an
overview of the new Storage Spaces functionality and the Storage Space types in Windows Server

The first one is the simple storage layout that has no resilience, meaning it does not have the
capability of quickly recovering from the difficulties or the disk failures. This storage layout simply
writes the given data into multiple physical disks but doesn't make a clone copy or any information
about the parity. This type of layout is a good choice if your requirement doesn't need a backup of
data or the disk failure scenarios doesn't affect your requirements. This simple storage layout is a
good choice in terms of offering performance for your application if it has its own security
essentials. Another type of storage layout is the parity layout which not only writes the data into
stripes across the physical disks but also writes the parity information into extra copies. This layout
is suitable for the requirements that require maximum capacity with lower writing performances.
Example of using the parity layout is while archiving the media and when media streaming requires
huge loads. The last storage layout is the mirror layout which is similar to the parity storage layout,
but with greater performances when SSDs are added to the storage pool and when the storage tiers
are being used. This resilient type writes the data onto multiple physical disks along with making
extra copies of the data and offers protection to the data in the events of disk failures. The other
metric that describes the functionality of storage spaces are

The Future of Video Rental
In the video rental industry, the company Blockbuster took an early foot hold as the industry leader.
In 1997, Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings discovered the growing market space within the DVD
market and formed the company Netflix in Scotts Valley, California with $2.5 million in startup
cash. The company was formed with the idea that customers could utilize the company's web site to
rent DVDs and have them delivered to their home. The inspiration for the company came from Reed
Hastings after he acquired $40 of overdue fees on an Apollo 13 movie rental from Blockbuster (A

Another benefit of JIT production is the amount of inventory tied up in the business. That inventory
that is sitting idle on warehouse shelves, or seeking potential damage, can be converted into funds to
invest in other areas of the business. The amount of space needed for its warehouse(s), would not be
as much because it would not be used as a storage facility. Therefore, for these said reasons, it is
recommended that Riordan using Just in Time production to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
of it electric fan production process.
Forecasting Techniques
The two main forecasting techniques that can be used to project a sales forecast are quantitative and
qualitative. The type of forecast model to be used depends on forecast horizon, available data,
accuracy required, forecasting budget, and the individuals forecasting (Jacobs & Chase, 2011).
Qualitative methods are more subjective and rely on leadership for the projection so a certain level
of experience and knowledge is needed for an accurate forecast. Quantitative methods rely on
mathematical calculations using historical data or external data factors that affect the sale of the
product.
Riordan is trying to determine a production plan, so a short to medium forecast is needed. Prior
year's data ("Riordan Manufacturing", 2013) is also available so these two factors lead to the
forecast selection of simple moving average, which is a

Abstract–This paper proposes a method for optimization of the harmonic performance of CHB
inverter under Selective Harmonic Elimination PWM modulation (SHEPWM) control. The
proposed optimization techniques are used to solve the set of non–linear transcendental
trigonometrical equations. SHE were implemented to reduce the THD value. The set of non–linear
transcendental equation is minimized by proposed Big Bang–Big Crunch optimization technique.
The proposed topology is suitable for any number of levels. In this paper third, fifth, seventh and
ninth level harmonics have been eliminated. Simulation work is done in MATLAB software and
experimental results have been presented to validate the theory.

The Controvercial Big Bang Theory
Have you ever wondered about the start of time? How about the start of the universe? Well, this
question has been nagging astronomers and scientists alike for years and years. But in 1927,
Georges Lemaitre proposed one of the most controversial theory of all time, the Big Bang.
The Big Bang is a theory about the start of the universe. People have talked about it for years and
it's very controversial. First, let's start with the theory.
The Big Bang was first formed by Georges Lemaitre. He is the first person to actually propose this
theory. He also derived "Hubble's Law". Hubble's Law helps estimate the rate of expansion of the
universe. The equation is H=v/d where H is Hubble's constant, v is the velocity of the galaxy, and d
is the distance from the earth. Even though it seems that he is a 24 hour scientist, he is, however, a
Belgian priest.
This theory is believed to have created the universe. Its occurrence was estimated to be 13.8 billion
years ago. Of course, this is all estimation. No one knows when exactly it happened. Again, people
have different beliefs.
Now, to further express the above statement that people have different beliefs, there are a lot of
different forms of this theory. I have handpicked 7 different forms of this single theory to share with
you. Here they are in order.
The Universe must have been born in this single violent event which came to be known as "The Big
Bang".

The Japanese Dairy Market And Industry Essay
Introduction In this report I will discuss issues about the Japanese dairy market and industry, which
is in dire need of expansion and attention as it supplies millions of Japanese people with their dairy
needs. In this report I will discuss certain key aspects of the Japanese dairy market, Including
characteristics of the market, market size, interest of the Japanese, issues and recovery followed
with a comparison of another country with added graphs and statistical figures to support my points
and statement. Dairy farming is a reliable and sustainable form of long term milk production, in
which cow, buffalo, goats and other mammals are used for dairy purposes in order to cultivate
products such as cheese, butter and milk. The dairy industry and dairy farming is crucial in
providing populations of consumers with adequate calcium intake and meeting diary requirements
within our dietary needs. History and background Firstly I'm going to briefly cover the history of
Japan's dairy market and industry. Milk and milk products first became commonly available in
Japan in the Meiji period (1868– 1912). Before this, milk was only available for the rich and upper
class community (Meiji, 2015). as it was too expensive for most Japanese civilians. This is all due to
the process of westernization that occurred in Japan in 1863.This was achieved only because of the
hard work of Tomekichi Maeda, who studied milking and treatment techniques from a Dutch man
named Mr Perro. This

The Big Bang Theory Of The Universe Essay
Evidence pointed towards that the universe was expanding, but this was not enough to separate the
Big Bang theory from its' rivals. A few decades after the redshift concept was discovered, scientists
detected groundbreaking evidence that was considered the smoking gun. Arno Penzias and Robert
Wilson detected the remnants of radiation created from the Big Bang. This cosmic background
radiation was the thermal radiation left over from the Big Bang. It was collected in the form as
omnidirectional microwaves, which was red–shifted because of the expansion of the universe. While
they were not able to detect large quantities of cosmic background radiation, the principle of
overdetermination allowed them to make claims from this evidence. They deduced that this
radiation must of come from a Big Bang event were protons and neutrons formed hydrogen atom.
This was the smoking gun to the beginning of the universe, it revealed that only an event like the
Big Bang could create this radiation. All the evidence collected suggested that an event like the Big
Bang would be the only explanation to what scientists had collected. The Big Bang theory became
the most probable theory against its rivals, but scientists were tasked with an even more difficult
problem. They needed to be able to explain how the Big Bang resulted in the unique universe we
observe around us. With the Big Bang theory established, scientists needed to understand how this
theory could create our observable

Essay on Sciene and Christianity
Sciene and Christianity Generally, science and Christianity are considered two contradictory views
of the universe. Science symbolizes an evolutionary and naturalistic view of the universe from
which God is (or at least can be) excluded. Christianity symbolizes a world view where everything
is created by the direct creative act of God.
Science offers us different ways at looking at the origins of life. Its two most famous theories are the

Scientists think that soon the universe will stop expanding and fall in on itself, causing the Big
Crunch. They say that this process has been going on for a while and is a cycle. The universe seems
to be reborn every time like in Buddhism– samsara. This theory is almost flawless but Christians
could use the cosmological argument which states that we are in a series of cause and effect and
there must have been an uncaused cause that started the universe e.g. God. So with that logic it
could show that God was behind the origin of life.
Science also uses Darwin's Theory of Evolution to help explain the origins of life. This theory states
that animals and plants adapt to their surroundings and evolve. This tries exclude from the equation.
This theory could offer a better explanation because it shows how God didn't need to create us
because we have been able to adapt and evolve be ourselves over many years. Unfortunately, the
theory only explains how animals and plants adapt and not where the universe came from and how
we came to be. Also progress in genetics has not helped the evolution notion; the accidental
profession claimed in evolution is thought to be brought about by chance mutations in the genome.
Christianity also has its own views on how the universe and life was created. They say, in Genesis,
that God created the world and man in six days and rested on the seventh.

Part of the Earned Value Management technique is the monitoring of variances from the approved
baseline of costs and schedule. The variances are useful in determining the overall project health
and status.
– Schedule Variance (SV): The Schedule Variance indicates a value which is a measure of how
much the project is either ahead or behind at a given point in time. For any given point in time, once
the EV and PV are known the SV can easily be calculated. The formula for SV is quite simply: SV =
EV – PV. Here a positive value indicates that the project is ahead at the current point in time and a
negative value would indicate the opposite that a project is behind at the current point in time.
– Cost Variance (CV): The Cost Variance indicates a value which is a measure of how much the
project is either overspent or underspent at any given point in time. For any given point in time,
once the EV and AC are known the CV can easily be calculated. The formula for CV is quite
simply: CV = EV – AC. Here a positive value indicates that the project is under spent at the current
point in time and a negative value would indicate the opposite that a project is over spent at the
current point in time. The Cost Variance at the end of the project is calculated as follows: CV =
BAC – AC. The same above rationale is applied to positive and negative numbers to indicate if the
project is under spent or over spent respectively.
To measure schedule or cost efficiency there are two

Advantages Of Refrigeration
FABRICATION AND TESTING OF ICE PLANT TEST RIG
ABSTRACT
Refrigeration may be defined as the process of achieving and maintaining a temperature below that
of the surrounding, the aim being to freeze to ice, cool some product, or space to the required
temperature. The basis of modern refrigeration is the ability of liquids to absorb enormous quantities
of heat as they boil and evaporate. One of the most important applications of refrigeration & air
conditioning is to produce ice for commercial applications with minimum energy consumption. Ice
plant is used for producing refrigeration effect which uses the vapor compression cycle and by using

COMPRESSOR
In this Ice Plant we use the reciprocating compressor. The compressor in which the vapour
refrigerant is compressed by reciprocating motion of piston is known as reciprocating compressor.
The purpose of compressor in the vapour compression cycle is to compress the low pressure dry gas

compressor, Positive Displacement and Dynamic. In this plant we are using positive displacement
hermetic compressor. Since the compression of the refrigerant requires some work to be done on it,
therefore a compressor must be driven by some prime mover. The prime mover is an electric motor
which converts input electrical energy to useful mechanical work. This work is transmitted as torque
to the compressor through common shaft and coupling

better understanding of the benefits to expand to these two countries. Data collected includes both
qualitative and quantitative results.
Strong global growths from United States' companies tend to produce better returns to shareholders.
However, the United States has suffered from a slow growth. Therefore global expansion has
become an essential strategic support for many companies. Regardless of the risk, uncertainties,
other obstacles that come with international expansion, there are rewarding benefits that out shine
the risk. Benefits include an overall revenue growth at an accelerated pace, diversified stream of
revenue, and improved return on capital. Lastly, international growth is more valuable to
shareholders. Not only for the countries whose markets are already developed but also for emerging
markets. Many are less developed so increased growth is forecasted to remain lofty for longer

The Market For Reproductive Management Products
"Industry and Customer Value According to MedTech, (2015) the U.S. market for reproductive
management products was estimated at more than $3.7 billion in 2013. This market, which includes
a broad range of contraceptive drugs, contraceptive devices/implants, and fertility drugs, is expected
to expand at a healthy compound annual growth rate of more than 7%, increasing by more than $1.5
billion over a span of 5 years. A recent report released by Grand View research stated that healthcare
provider training has been more focused on IUDs and implants due to more young women
requesting these types of contraceptive devises. (Grand View Research, Inc., 2015, p. 01) Grand
View further stated that the North America contraceptives market accounted for the largest share of
Contraceptive growth at over 30.0% in 2014 owing to, the high incidence rates of abortion, rising
population of women within the age group of 15–44 years, and high patient awareness levels in the
region. They forecast that the presence of an extensive product pipeline portfolio is expected to
boost industry growth throughout 2020. Mirena, manufactured by Bayer, is a non–seasonal, long–

Volume Visualization: Direct Volume Rendering
Volume visualization is the technique of displaying two–dimensional projections of three–
dimensional (volume) data.
Volume rendering techniques of 3D data are classified as direct and indirect. Indirect volume
rendering methods, such as Marching Cubes [1], extract intermediate geometric meshes of iso–
surfaces from volume data and render them using surface rendering methods. Indirect methods are
more suitable for applications where the visualization of surfaces is important. Direct Volume
Rendering (DVR) techniques render the volume data without generating any intermediate
representation; thus facilitating the visualization of the material inside. By specifying a proper
transfer function in the DVR process, voxels are assigned with certain optical properties and
different structures are revealed in the resulted images.
The techniques of DVR are useful for various kinds of scientific visualization, such as medical
diagnosis and life science research. However, structures may not be clearly shown in the resulted
images, due to various reasons like poor lighting and reflection parameters. Thus, the pixel values
cannot provide enough implication on existences of structures. For example, a homogeneous region
in a DVR image may represent the fine details of a structure. The image should have displayed a
variation to indicate this feature. Meanwhile, many data processing operations may have been
applied to the data set before the volume rendering process taken place, including

Executive Summary An effective supply chain is the key to creating business value, and with
expansion on the horizon. Good planning and willingness to adapt to changes are key to maximizing
our results. In order to do this we have come up with a plan that will make Lady Americana
mattresses a household name in our target expansion markets. In the state of Oklahoma, Lady
Americana has already become a brand that has a bed in almost every home. The current systems in
place are effective for todays operations, below are some challenges and recommendations to
improve upon this to create an effective supply chain, that will grow with you as your business does.
II. Issues and Challenges One of the first issues that I see when expanding to new markets, would be
in forecasting the potential of these markets. This can involve both overestimating and
underestimating the size of said markets. This can then lead to challenges in staffing, production
facilities, and warehouse space. Poor evaluation of these new markets can also affect our suppliers

Designing A Contractor Management System For A Site Expansion
Design Deficiencies
The following report answers questions on design deficiencies. It will describe three design disasters
and examine the causes of the disaster and the impact they had on future designs. It will then discuss
a "design and layout" case study and the setting up of a contractor management system for a site
expansion.
Tacoma Bridge Collapse
Brief Description of the Disaster The Tacoma Narrows Bridge (aka "Galloping Gertie") was opened
to traffic on July 1, 1940 and was built to link Tacoma to the Gig Harbour. The Tacoma Bridge was
built with a light design which made it very sensitive to high winds. It lacked the ability to resist the
winds but rather swayed and vibrated with the wind direction (Britton, n.d.). Due the harmonic
phenomena, the swaying of the bridge worsened (Britton, n.d.). Four months after the opening of the
bridge on November 7, 1940, there was a 70–kilimeter–per–hour wind storm around the bridge area.
The wind caused the bridge to sway and vibrate turbulently from side to side, until it eventually tore
the bridge apart (Britton, n.d.).
Cause of the Disaster The cause of the incident was as result of the structure of the bridge which
could not resist the wind. Rather than resist the wind directional flow, it let the wind pass through it
(Britton, n.d.). As a result, the combined force of the winds and the internal stress in the bridge
structure was far too great for what the bridge could withstand, leading to its self–destruction
(Britton,

Task 6
First, I would like to share why I would like to be Vice–President of the MathSoc first. Here in
Greenwich, we are lucky to be studying at one of the finest research institutions in the UK, learning
alongside almost one thousand other graduate students and faculty, each extremely talented, highly
motivated, and with a breadth of life experiences both extraordinary and unique. I seek this position
so that I may employ my experience and skills as a leader to build upon this special experience at
Mathematics and address the many challenges that students of unique backgrounds face, from their

The Deployment Of Automation For An Automated Warehouse
Executive Summary The change from a manual warehouse to an automated warehouse is significant
and the impact of that change should never be under estimated. Even limited application of
automated technologies will have a dramatic effect on the processes used in the warehouse, the
management systems required to make it effective and on the people who have to adapt to accept its
use. The deployment of automation in warehouses, whether it is a fully integrated solution or an
enhancement to a manual technology, can bring competitive advantages to companies with benefits
in staffing, property or service. In staffing, we could have reduced costs, providing improved
ergonomics and an alternative to unproductive labor. Property includes saving on space, reduced
facility size and reduced costs. Service benefits include improved order accuracy, product security
and condition, and lead–times. Also, if a service provider like Amazon wants to launch its 'Prime'
services in a developing nation which hardly has any money for automation services, they would
find it very difficult to fulfil the customer requirements with their 2–day delivery system. This is
because of the drawback of having a manual warehousing. Speaking of manual warehousing, there
are numerous issues related to labor that a company might encounter in the long–run. Probably the
biggest driver is the ever increasing cost of labor. Wages are spiraling downwards due to the
financial crisis, but this may only be temporary.

The Performance Of Database Management
Performance measurement is the process of collecting, analyzing and/or reporting of key defined
metrics regarding the performance of database management components and the overall database
management system.
As a process, performance measurement is not just collecting data associated with a predefined
performance goal or standard. Performance measurement is an overall management system
involving prevention and detection aimed at achieving conformance of the database management
process to an established target. Additionally, it is concerned with process optimization through
increased efficiency and effectiveness of the product, solution or service. These actions occur in a
continuous cycle, allowing options for expansion and improvement of the process as better
techniques are discovered and implemented.
If an activity cannot be measured, it most certainly cannot be controlled. If it cannot be controlled,
then it cannot be managed. Without dependable measurements, intelligent decisions cannot be
made. There are a number of tools available that can assist with testing performance and scalability
of Oracle Databases and their platforms including Swingbench, HammerDB, Benchmark Factory
for Databases, Apache JMeter, HP Load Runner (with SiteScope) and others.
Database Replay introduced as an option since Oracle 11g allows the recording of a production
database workload and replay that workload against a development or test instance of the database.

Company Overview
Waste Management, Inc. (NYSE:WM) is the leading provider of comprehensive Waste
Management and environmental services in North America. It is established in 1971 and
headquartered in Houston, Texas. In 2014, its total number of employees reached up 42,700 with a
revenue of $ 13.99 Billion (Wikipedia 2015). The company provides private and commercial waste
services, including collection, transfer, recycling and resource recovery, and disposal services.
Sustainability Practices: Recycling
Single stream recycling
Single stream recycling allows customers to mix recyclable paper, plastic, metal and glass in one
large bin, rather than sorting these items into separate smaller bins. These mixed materials are then
sorted at Waste Management Facilities. This type of recycling has led to: an increased amount of
material collected by an average of 40 percent, save 0.901 metric tons of greenhouse gases per ton
of recyclables collected, and improves on–the–job safety for waste collection workers by reducing
job–related injuries.
Electronics recycled for reprocessing
Waste Management operates several household product recovery businesses, by consolidating them
under one organizational umbrella called the Product Recovery Group. The Product Recovery
Group now includes the following:

Global Warming : The Causes And Effects Of Global Warming
Global Warming
Global warming is now one of the hottest debates in politics. With the recent events taking place,
such as the U.S withdrawing from the Paris Agreement. It has created such a fiery showdown in
debates from both sides of the political parties to express their thoughts on the issue. By all means,
individuals are allowed to have opinions, but such a scientific topic needs to be addressed by facts
only. In depth, the information that is presented often into global warming is greenhouse gases and
the effects of it. Greenhouse gas are any gaseous compound that is capable of absorbing radiation
therefore traps heat into the atmosphere. With this in mind, the effects of greenhouse gases and the
result in sea level rise affect the Earth despite the claims that global warming is a natural process.
Greenhouse gases is a significant part of the cause of global warming. Specifically, the extra amount
of greenhouse gases released is unnatural and released at such a large mass which contributes to the
temperature change. To explain furthermore, the build up of the gases in the atmosphere is due to
"primarily to CO2 from the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil, and natural gases) and deforestation."
("Global Warming and Climate Change," 2017). The warming power of the sun is visible in the
ultraviolet region of the spectrum. The surface of the Earth then re–radiates the solar energy back
into space in a infrared light. But because of the greenhouse gases, the atmosphere is

components, especially in the retail sector. Whole Foods is number one in the competition of natural
products stores. Dominates the niche market of organic and natural foods and has a slightly different
demographic... However, this analysis can help project where Whole Foods Market Inc. fits in
among the other large–chain grocery stores. Following the above three metrics are three more basic

This indicates that they are very effectively moving product in and out of their stores, optimizing
their revenue generating potential, whereas all of their competitors are below the industry average
over the last two years. The next metric is Sales per Square Foot and is one of the most common
ratios used in retail, especially the grocery business. This requires the calculation of a stores ability
to maximize their selling space obtained by dividing the aggregate sales of all their locations by the
total square footage of all their stores (Retail Owners Institute). Once again, Whole Foods is well
ahead of both the industry average and their competitors with an astonishing $874 million per
square foot, almost 75% above the industry average of approximately $500 million. All of the others
competitors we analyzed exceed this average as well; however none come close to Whole Foods.
Next, we looked at the Current Ratio, a liquidity ratio calculated by dividing a company's total
current assets by their total current liabilities. This ratio gives an investor insight into whether or not
a company is able to meet its short–term debt obligations and be able to remain a viable
organization (Brigham & Houston 87). Again Whole Foods with a Current Ratio of 1.9 times assets
to debt exceeds the industry average of 1.4 and is ahead of each of the competitors we looked at as
well. This tells prospective investors that the financial health of

The Big Bang Model And The Steady State Model

Abstract
For many years there has been a mystery on how the universe began. There are questions about the
ending of the universe and how. Hypothesis called cosmological that try to find the answer were
constructed by astronomers. The Big Bang model and the Steady State model are the two that were
constructed. These two models claims to explain the beginning and the ending of the universe. The
Big Band claims that about 15 to 20 Billion years ago, the universe violently exploded in to being,
there was an event called the big bang and began expanding rapidly. The Steady State Model claims
the universe has always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story of the universe can be traced back to it very first instants, according to the Big Bang
theory of its origins. In the Big Bang model, the universe was once infinitely small, dense and hot.
The radiation and matter of that early stage rapidly expanded and cooled. It condensed into galaxies
several million years later. It was not an explosion of matter into space, but an expansion of space
itself, and in the beginning, it brought time and space into existence. It is observe today by
astronomers that the universe is still expanding. Universe, Martin Rees– September 17, 2012,
Penguin – Publisher. In 1929 Edwin Hubble was able to correlate the distance in the universe with
their velocities, a relation known as Hubble's Law. Big Bang theorists later used this information to
approximate the age of the Universe at about 15 billion years old, which is consistent with the other
measurements of the age of the universe. According to radio astronomers Arno Penzias and
Robert Wilson in 1964 they discovered a microwave signal buried I their data. They attempted to
filter out the signal, assuming that it was merely unwanted noise, however, they had inadvertently
discovered the Cosmic Microwave Background. The CBM had been predicted by a theory that a
few believed at the time call the Big Bang. This discovery was first evidence that the Universe

Recycling Should Be Used More Help Save The Planet And...
Not a lot of people know what recycling does or how it helps. Nobody thinks after finishing a can of
soda, eating a bar of chocolate or drinking a water bottle where the container goes. People just
throw them in the bin and that is it, they are taken care off. However, that's not the truth. These
containers end up in our oceans or lands, they are just dumped there with other trash and just dirty
the place. Just because they are out of our sight doesn't mean they are gone. That is why recycling
should be utilized more to help save the planet and other reasons. Recycling is a process of
recovering, reprocessing, and reusing wasted materials that are usually just thrown away. Materials
that are most commonly used for the process are paper, glass, plastic and metals ("Recycling" 1).
Recycling is not a new concept, recycling has been around ever since the 1940's (Cooper 275 –
276). Businesses use it all the time, with the high demand of products they need to make use of what
they already have. Examples like car workshops were the spare parts of a damaged car are put in
another car that needs the part (Cooper 276–277). Also, during World War II, Americans would
collect all sorts of materials and give them to the war effort (Cooper 277). More than a third of
materials were recycled during that time. Recycling had its rises and falls. After the war, recycling
wasn't as popular anymore but in the 1960's after a rise in concern for the environment came about,
recycling campaigns were

America's Current Generation Housing
In 1979 under Thatcher 's reign, the conservative government published its housing bill promising
with it the Right to buy. A popular demand at the time as people living in social houses aspired to
finally own their home. At the time a blessing, however 30 years later we find that the bill promised
the current generation housing at a discounted price. however, only at the expense of the next. The
bill forbade local authorities from replacing the council houses sold in the right to buy system. Due
to the nature of the right to buy properties, the houses sold were not empty nor was it available,
many of the properties were already inhabited. Over the course of 30 years, over 2 million social
houses were sold; as a result, there was a large demand for social housing which the local authorities
could not meet. Subsequently due to heavily discounted prices of the houses, used to ensure that
those vulnerable families are able to become home owners; not enough income was being generated
in order to build a replacement home. Since local authorities could not replace them themselves,
social landlords struggled to build enough to replace those sold through the right to buy. The bill
also opened made way for private companies to abuse the bill and make profit out of properties
previously owned by the local authority. Statistics show that there is a higher rate of repossession of
council houses than any other group of home owners. showing that many of those living in council

Dillard's Executive Summary
In 1938, William Dillard started an upscale department store known as Dillard's. Dillard's started
with five stores in Arkansas, which multiplied to over 300 stores across the country. This eighty plus
year expansion resulted in $6.6 billion dollars in net sales in fiscal year 2014. Dillard's primary
method of growth is their numerous acquisitions of local or smaller department stores.
Dillard's primary business process in adding value to their company is by generating high sales at
low prices of high quality goods. Their procurement process is very important especially at the

Urban Sprawl Patterns
The change in landscapes has been studied across a variety of scales in recent years due to the rapid
population growth and urbanization process worldwide. Since 1950s, urban growth becomes
prevalent in U.S., especially prominent in suburban and rural areas where the land use is featured by
dispersed developments, single–functional, low density and auto–driven transportation (Ramalho,
Hobbs, 2012). The expansion of impervious land generates a variety of urban sprawl patterns and
raise many environmental concerns including air pollution, biodiversity degradation, coastal
erosion, regional sea level rise and et al (Foley et al., 2005; Seto and Shepherd, 2009; Warner et al.,

Biodiversity are projected to decline continuously in this century due to habitat loss and
fragmentation (Holt et al., 1995; Linehan et al., 1995; Damschen et al., 2006). Multiple studies have
proven that habitat loss is negatively related to species richness, population abundance and
distribution, genetic diversity, breeding success, dispersal success and predation rate (Taylor and
Merrian 1995; Findlay and Houlahan 1997; With and King 1999; Bergin et al., 2000; Gibbs 2001;
and Donovan and Flather, 2002). In addition, many patch and fragmentation metrics are proved to
relevant to biodiversity changes. Such metrics include patch size (Diaz et al., 2000), land coverage
(Bascompte and Sole 1996), edge density (Fahrig, 2002), contagion (Li and Reynolds 1993),
Proximity index (Whitcomb et al., 1981), nearest neighbor distance (Gustafson and Parker 1992),
perimeter–area fractal dimension (Lovejoy 1982) and mass fractal dimension (Milne 1991).
Biodiversity underpins various ecosystem goods and services that provide necessities for human
well–being (Ding and Nunes, 2014). Recently, many studies have shifted the ecological focus to
social domain by translating the fragmentation to a lack of certain ecosystem provision and thus
affect the whole system sustainability. Unfortunately, most of them ignore the complexities within

part of the simulation I decided to buy two of the new ovens and the Menu Point customer system,
this increased profits but as the simulation states the two ovens were unnecessary. Looking at this
from a purely profit and loss standpoint I made the right choices by buying the new units and
installing the customer service system Menu Point. These are very big changes and the learning
curve will be steep but the turnaround should keep the learning curve to a relatively low spike as the
new equipment will basically only change the timing for the items to be prepared and delivered as
continual training takes place.
Mario has stepped in and decided to buy only one of the new ovens. The restaurant also decided to
rent the facility next door, Cream Puffs, to broaden the ability to serve customers. The plan for the
counter service pickup window was scrapped and the new business expansion opened. The learning
curve for this was very low as it was an expansion of current processes that only increased the
volume, it did not set any new processes in place that would increase the learning curve. The
waiting time is down as is the queue length and the profits are up for the business. The service side
of the business can now keep up with the demand side. Managing the wait times and queues are
easier now since

  • 1. How Climate Change Is Happening All Over And It Has... Mersadies Butcher Climate Change Paper Dr. Sian Ritchie Opening Sentence: Climate Change is happening all over and it has extreme consequences. Governor Inslee's plan is heading in the right direction to solve these problems. To help reduce these consequences we need to find alternative cleaner resources to use. Section 1: How climate works Climate change has many factors; albedo is one of many. Albedo is where the snow and ice reflect sunlight back into space. But as the Earth's temperature continues to rise the snow and ice are beginning to melt causing the ground and water to absorb the sunlight heating things up. With the carbon dioxide levels rising throughout the years the ocean absorbed 30% of it, creating acidification, which is killing coral reefs. As this occurs it is destroying the shelter for many types of fish. With the coral reefs dying the fish population is decreasing significantly this is a major problem for the areas of the world were catching fish to feed their families is all they have as a food source. (Hewitt et al., 343–351) The conveyor belt is being affected as well, due to the rise of carbon dioxide levels. As the snow and ice melt the large amount of fresh water runs into the ocean making it less salty. When the water becomes less salty it turns out to be less dense and not able to sink like it should to keep the conveyor belt going, which keeps Europe from freezing. The level of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases have increased by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tesla Swot Analysis Tesla Motors: SWOT Analysis Tesla Motors designs, develops, manufactures and sells high performance fully electric vehicles, advanced electric vehicle, powertrain components and stationary energy storage systems. Political, economic, socio–cultural and technological factors have influenced Tesla in complex ways since Tesla is a big player in the EV industry – one of the non– traditional automobile industry segments. The political factors have mostly favored Tesla since the government gives subsidies, tax rebates for EV manufacture. The general economic growth in the US economy have favored Tesla but decreasing oil prices and increasing labor prices have acted as threats to Tesla. The go green concepts have favored Tesla but ... • 3. Essay The Outbreak Of World War One and Germany The Outbreak Of World War One and Germany August 4th 1914 marks the date on which Europe fell into what has become known as "the Great War". What started as a minor squabble between Austria–Hungary and Serbia, in the space of six weeks, escalated into total war between Europe's biggest powers. Almost one hundred years later we are no closer to answering the question of who or what was to blame for it's outbreak. It is easy to assume that Germany were solely to blame, however this assumption would be incorrect. Germany did, at times have an overbearing influence, and with many factors, the underlying fault lies with Germany. However, influence of other nations, states and individuals were also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This economic stability allowed the military to grow and colonise. Germany looked for colonies in Africa, which antagonised the French and the British who had had colonies there for years. Their relatively unsuccessful search led to concentration on Europe. Chancellor Bulow said "without a strong army and navy, there can be no welfare for us". Bismarck provided Germany with a strong position in Europe by allying with Austria–Hungary in 1879, which encouraged military expansion. In the early 1900's, Germany's military expanded to greatly and demonstrates their aggressive nature. The German army and navy could be seen as a means of defence, but whatever the function of the system, it was intimidating to say the least. The subsequent arms race was as a direct result of German expansion and created European tension. Their army increased to be just 100,000 less than that of the Russian army, and their navy expanded ten–fold, which in turn made the British navy increase (it was British policy to have a navy larger than the second and third largest navies in Europe put together). French expenditure on defence doubled and Russia, Austria–Hungary and Italy all increased their armaments. Without the arms race, which Germany sparked, there would simply not have been the equipment for a war to take ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I had originally considered Python as a programming langauge, due to the breadth of libraries of all kinds. This led me to consider Theano and Caffe as potential neural network libraries. Caffe is written in C++, with interfaces for Python and MATLAB. However, it seemed to be targeted mostly towards deep learning networks, with a focus on image processing, and this made it seem quite complicated for the type of neural network I would be considering. Theano is written in Python, and has a large amount of documentation and functionality. If I were to have used Python, I would have likely used Theano, as it provides a large amount of functionality directly accessible from Python, whereas to extend Caffe could require modifications to the C++ source. Ultimately, due to the decision to use Java (a choice explored further in §[language] Language below), I decided to use the Neuroph framework. Unfortunately there is less choice of neural network libraries in Java, but given my prior experience with it, it is an easier language to program in. Most executives decide that some level of reorganization is needed whenever there is new business. As it stands, there are many reorganizations that are unsuccessful because they are not viewing the process correctly. The reorganization should improve the organizations ability to handle its most important decisions more effectively. (Blenko, Mankins, & Rogers, 2010)Along with assessing the workforce, the organization must also identify areas that may need to be restructured to achieve the goals of the company. Restructuring the organization will be considered to be a major reconfiguration of the internal administrative structure that is associated with an intentional management change program. The goal of the restructuring will include results such as productivity improvements, cost reductions, increased shareholder value, and/or a better alignment of the organization with a changing environment. Well, this question has been nagging astronomers and scientists alike for years and years. But in 1927, Georges Lemaitre proposed one of the most controversial theory of all time, the Big Bang. The Big Bang is a theory about the start of the universe. People have talked about it for years and it's very controversial. First, let's start with the theory. The Big Bang was first formed by Georges Lemaitre. He is the first person to actually propose this theory. He also derived "Hubble's Law". Hubble's Law helps estimate the rate of expansion of the universe. The equation is H=v/d where H is Hubble's constant, v is the velocity of the galaxy, and d is the distance from the earth. Even though it seems that he is a 24 hour scientist, he is, however, a Belgian priest. This theory is believed to have created the universe. Its occurrence was estimated to be 13.8 billion years ago. Of course, this is all estimation. No one knows when exactly it happened. Again, people have different beliefs. Now, to further express the above statement that people have different beliefs, there are a lot of different forms of this theory. I have handpicked 7 different forms of this single theory to share with you. Here they are in order. The Universe must have been born in this single violent event which came to be known as "The Big Bang". "Inflation set of a series of BIG BANGS, each one spawning the birth of a new ... In this report I will discuss certain key aspects of the Japanese dairy market, Including characteristics of the market, market size, interest of the Japanese, issues and recovery followed with a comparison of another country with added graphs and statistical figures to support my points and statement. Dairy farming is a reliable and sustainable form of long term milk production, in which cow, buffalo, goats and other mammals are used for dairy purposes in order to cultivate products such as cheese, butter and milk. The dairy industry and dairy farming is crucial in providing populations of consumers with adequate calcium intake and meeting diary requirements within our dietary needs. History and background Firstly I'm going to briefly cover the history of Japan's dairy market and industry. Milk and milk products first became commonly available in Japan in the Meiji period (1868– 1912). Before this, milk was only available for the rich and upper class community (Meiji, 2015). as it was too expensive for most Japanese civilians. This is all due to the process of westernization that occurred in Japan in 1863.This was achieved only because of the hard work of Tomekichi Maeda, who studied milking and treatment techniques from a Dutch man named Mr Perro. A few decades after the redshift concept was discovered, scientists detected groundbreaking evidence that was considered the smoking gun. Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson detected the remnants of radiation created from the Big Bang. This cosmic background radiation was the thermal radiation left over from the Big Bang. It was collected in the form as omnidirectional microwaves, which was red–shifted because of the expansion of the universe. While they were not able to detect large quantities of cosmic background radiation, the principle of overdetermination allowed them to make claims from this evidence. They deduced that this radiation must of come from a Big Bang event were protons and neutrons formed hydrogen atom. This was the smoking gun to the beginning of the universe, it revealed that only an event like the Big Bang could create this radiation. All the evidence collected suggested that an event like the Big Bang would be the only explanation to what scientists had collected. The Big Bang theory became the most probable theory against its rivals, but scientists were tasked with an even more difficult problem. They needed to be able to explain how the Big Bang resulted in the unique universe we observe around us. They say that this process has been going on for a while and is a cycle. The universe seems to be reborn every time like in Buddhism– samsara. This theory is almost flawless but Christians could use the cosmological argument which states that we are in a series of cause and effect and there must have been an uncaused cause that started the universe e.g. God. So with that logic it could show that God was behind the origin of life. Science also uses Darwin's Theory of Evolution to help explain the origins of life. This theory states that animals and plants adapt to their surroundings and evolve. This tries exclude from the equation. This theory could offer a better explanation because it shows how God didn't need to create us because we have been able to adapt and evolve be ourselves over many years. Volume rendering techniques of 3D data are classified as direct and indirect. Indirect volume rendering methods, such as Marching Cubes [1], extract intermediate geometric meshes of iso– surfaces from volume data and render them using surface rendering methods. Indirect methods are more suitable for applications where the visualization of surfaces is important. Direct Volume Rendering (DVR) techniques render the volume data without generating any intermediate representation; thus facilitating the visualization of the material inside. By specifying a proper transfer function in the DVR process, voxels are assigned with certain optical properties and different structures are revealed in the resulted images. The techniques of DVR are useful for various kinds of scientific visualization, such as medical diagnosis and life science research. However, structures may not be clearly shown in the resulted images, due to various reasons like poor lighting and reflection parameters. Thus, the pixel values cannot provide enough implication on existences of structures. For example, a homogeneous region in a DVR image may represent the fine details of a structure. Tacoma Bridge Collapse Brief Description of the Disaster The Tacoma Narrows Bridge (aka "Galloping Gertie") was opened to traffic on July 1, 1940 and was built to link Tacoma to the Gig Harbour. The Tacoma Bridge was built with a light design which made it very sensitive to high winds. It lacked the ability to resist the winds but rather swayed and vibrated with the wind direction (Britton, n.d.). Due the harmonic phenomena, the swaying of the bridge worsened (Britton, n.d.). Four months after the opening of the bridge on November 7, 1940, there was a 70–kilimeter–per–hour wind storm around the bridge area. The wind caused the bridge to sway and vibrate turbulently from side to side, until it eventually tore the bridge apart (Britton, n.d.). Cause of the Disaster The cause of the incident was as result of the structure of the bridge which could not resist the wind. Rather than resist the wind directional flow, it let the wind pass through it (Britton, n.d.). As a result, the combined force of the winds and the internal stress in the bridge structure was far too great for what the bridge could withstand, leading to its self–destruction (Britton, ... • 27. The Deployment Of Automation For An Automated Warehouse Executive Summary The change from a manual warehouse to an automated warehouse is significant and the impact of that change should never be under estimated. Even limited application of automated technologies will have a dramatic effect on the processes used in the warehouse, the management systems required to make it effective and on the people who have to adapt to accept its use. The deployment of automation in warehouses, whether it is a fully integrated solution or an enhancement to a manual technology, can bring competitive advantages to companies with benefits in staffing, property or service. In staffing, we could have reduced costs, providing improved ergonomics and an alternative to unproductive labor. Property includes saving on space, reduced facility size and reduced costs. Service benefits include improved order accuracy, product security and condition, and lead–times. Also, if a service provider like Amazon wants to launch its 'Prime' services in a developing nation which hardly has any money for automation services, they would find it very difficult to fulfil the customer requirements with their 2–day delivery system. This is because of the drawback of having a manual warehousing. Speaking of manual warehousing, there are numerous issues related to labor that a company might encounter in the long–run. Probably the biggest driver is the ever increasing cost of labor. Wages are spiraling downwards due to the financial crisis, but this may only be temporary. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. The Performance Of Database Management Performance measurement is the process of collecting, analyzing and/or reporting of key defined metrics regarding the performance of database management components and the overall database management system. As a process, performance measurement is not just collecting data associated with a predefined performance goal or standard. Performance measurement is an overall management system involving prevention and detection aimed at achieving conformance of the database management process to an established target. Additionally, it is concerned with process optimization through increased efficiency and effectiveness of the product, solution or service. These actions occur in a continuous cycle, allowing options for expansion and improvement of the process as better techniques are discovered and implemented. If an activity cannot be measured, it most certainly cannot be controlled. If it cannot be controlled, then it cannot be managed. Without dependable measurements, intelligent decisions cannot be made. There are a number of tools available that can assist with testing performance and scalability of Oracle Databases and their platforms including Swingbench, HammerDB, Benchmark Factory for Databases, Apache JMeter, HP Load Runner (with SiteScope) and others. • 30. Global Warming : The Causes And Effects Of Global Warming Global Warming Global warming is now one of the hottest debates in politics. With the recent events taking place, such as the U.S withdrawing from the Paris Agreement. It has created such a fiery showdown in debates from both sides of the political parties to express their thoughts on the issue. By all means, individuals are allowed to have opinions, but such a scientific topic needs to be addressed by facts only. In depth, the information that is presented often into global warming is greenhouse gases and the effects of it. Greenhouse gas are any gaseous compound that is capable of absorbing radiation therefore traps heat into the atmosphere. With this in mind, the effects of greenhouse gases and the result in sea level rise affect the Earth despite the claims that global warming is a natural process. Greenhouse gases is a significant part of the cause of global warming. Specifically, the extra amount of greenhouse gases released is unnatural and released at such a large mass which contributes to the temperature change. To explain furthermore, the build up of the gases in the atmosphere is due to "primarily to CO2 from the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil, and natural gases) and deforestation." ("Global Warming and Climate Change," 2017). The warming power of the sun is visible in the ultraviolet region of the spectrum. The surface of the Earth then re–radiates the solar energy back into space in a infrared light. But because of the greenhouse gases, the atmosphere is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This indicates that they are very effectively moving product in and out of their stores, optimizing their revenue generating potential, whereas all of their competitors are below the industry average over the last two years. The next metric is Sales per Square Foot and is one of the most common ratios used in retail, especially the grocery business. This requires the calculation of a stores ability to maximize their selling space obtained by dividing the aggregate sales of all their locations by the total square footage of all their stores (Retail Owners Institute). Once again, Whole Foods is well ahead of both the industry average and their competitors with an astonishing $874 million per square foot, almost 75% above the industry average of approximately $500 million. All of the others competitors we analyzed exceed this average as well; however none come close to Whole Foods. Next, we looked at the Current Ratio, a liquidity ratio calculated by dividing a company's total current assets by their total current liabilities. This ratio gives an investor insight into whether or not a company is able to meet its short–term debt obligations and be able to remain a viable organization (Brigham & Houston 87). Again Whole Foods with a Current Ratio of 1.9 times assets to debt exceeds the industry average of 1.4 and is ahead of each of the competitors we looked at as well. The Big Bang Model And The Steady State Model The Universe Joyce Claiborne Professor Robert Leard Earth Space Science GS 403 09/09/2014 Abstract For many years there has been a mystery on how the universe began. There are questions about the ending of the universe and how. Hypothesis called cosmological that try to find the answer were constructed by astronomers. The Big Bang model and the Steady State model are the two that were constructed. These two models claims to explain the beginning and the ending of the universe. The Big Band claims that about 15 to 20 Billion years ago, the universe violently exploded in to being, there was an event called the big bang and began expanding rapidly. The story of the universe can be traced back to it very first instants, according to the Big Bang theory of its origins. In the Big Bang model, the universe was once infinitely small, dense and hot. The radiation and matter of that early stage rapidly expanded and cooled. It condensed into galaxies several million years later. It was not an explosion of matter into space, but an expansion of space itself, and in the beginning, it brought time and space into existence. It is observe today by astronomers that the universe is still expanding. Universe, Martin Rees– September 17, 2012, Penguin – Publisher. In 1929 Edwin Hubble was able to correlate the distance in the universe with their velocities, a relation known as Hubble's Law. Big Bang theorists later used this information to approximate the age of the Universe at about 15 billion years old, which is consistent with the other measurements of the age of the universe. According to radio astronomers Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson in 1964 they discovered a microwave signal buried I their data. They attempted to filter out the signal, assuming that it was merely unwanted noise, however, they had inadvertently discovered the Cosmic Microwave Background. The CBM had been predicted by a theory that a few believed at the time call the Big Bang. This discovery was first evidence that the Universe beginning.

  • 34. Recycling Should Be Used More Help Save The Planet And... Not a lot of people know what recycling does or how it helps. Nobody thinks after finishing a can of soda, eating a bar of chocolate or drinking a water bottle where the container goes. People just throw them in the bin and that is it, they are taken care off. However, that's not the truth. These containers end up in our oceans or lands, they are just dumped there with other trash and just dirty the place. Just because they are out of our sight doesn't mean they are gone. That is why recycling should be utilized more to help save the planet and other reasons. Recycling is a process of recovering, reprocessing, and reusing wasted materials that are usually just thrown away. Materials that are most commonly used for the process are paper, glass, plastic and metals ("Recycling" 1). Recycling is not a new concept, recycling has been around ever since the 1940's (Cooper 275 – 276). Businesses use it all the time, with the high demand of products they need to make use of what they already have. Examples like car workshops were the spare parts of a damaged car are put in another car that needs the part (Cooper 276–277). Also, during World War II, Americans would collect all sorts of materials and give them to the war effort (Cooper 277). More than a third of materials were recycled during that time. Recycling had its rises and falls. After the war, recycling wasn't as popular anymore but in the 1960's after a rise in concern for the environment came about, recycling campaigns were ... A popular demand at the time as people living in social houses aspired to finally own their home. At the time a blessing, however 30 years later we find that the bill promised the current generation housing at a discounted price. however, only at the expense of the next. The bill forbade local authorities from replacing the council houses sold in the right to buy system. Due to the nature of the right to buy properties, the houses sold were not empty nor was it available, many of the properties were already inhabited. Over the course of 30 years, over 2 million social houses were sold; as a result, there was a large demand for social housing which the local authorities could not meet. Subsequently due to heavily discounted prices of the houses, used to ensure that those vulnerable families are able to become home owners; not enough income was being generated in order to build a replacement home. Since local authorities could not replace them themselves, social landlords struggled to build enough to replace those sold through the right to buy. The bill also opened made way for private companies to abuse the bill and make profit out of properties previously owned by the local authority. Statistics show that there is a higher rate of repossession of council houses than any other group of home owners. showing that many of those living in council houses ... Since 1950s, urban growth becomes prevalent in U.S., especially prominent in suburban and rural areas where the land use is featured by dispersed developments, single–functional, low density and auto–driven transportation (Ramalho, Hobbs, 2012). The expansion of impervious land generates a variety of urban sprawl patterns and raise many environmental concerns including air pollution, biodiversity degradation, coastal erosion, regional sea level rise and et al (Foley et al., 2005; Seto and Shepherd, 2009; Warner et al., 2010).
