How long, when, how much?
1) Preparation of this project began in 2017
2) Huge amount of footage to digitise
3) The project run from 1.1.2018 to 31.12.2018 (Each week of TV
guide was being unlocked after a week)
4) Budget: 12 000 Euro
4. What is TV Guide 1968?
1) It is a precise reconstruction of Czechoslovak TV broadcast
in 1968
2) Design evokes the original paper TV Guide 1968
3) In TV Guide the user can find TV programmes, photos,
newspaper articles, period reviews, audio samples
4) It is „TV Encyclopedia of 1968“
6. How did we do it?
1) Massive background research
2) Sources (original paper TV Guide 1968, broadcast reports,
newspapers, internal audiovisual databases)
3) Czech TV Photo Archives
4) Czech Radio Archives: audio samples – E.g. we mixed their
sounds with our mute shots
8. Advantages
1) Internal: Deep documentational process of our audiovisual
databases, Digitization of all footage broadcast in 1968,
new TV production (found some interesting movies that
they were reconstructed and then broadcast)
2) External: Czech TV Archives promotion, making new
contacts, a tool for publish to broad audience, education
(cooperation with schools), sales model, merchandising
9. Cooperation with institutes
1) Institute for the study of Totalitarian Regimes (model
lessons for students, seminars for teachers)
2) Czech Radio – gained missing audio samples
3) Czechoslovak film database (Czech IMDB) – fill-up of
database
4) News Channel, Sport Channel (new production, TV
broadcast)
5) Academy of Science – academical and professional
cooperation
