2. The English Language Exam is an extremely hard
one to revise for but don't worry because I’ve
got you covered. The first thing to do in an
exam is NOT to panic because then you are
more likely not to recall information.
WHATS THE
ANSWER!
3. This Question specifically looks at your
understanding of a text and how well you can
recall information. However you loose marks
for simply just quoting the text. It HAS to be
your own words with word level analysis,
which means taking words specifically from
the text such as ‘glimmering’ (like my face) for
example.
4. This is a question which will ask you to link the
headline, image and text.
SO to look for in the TITLE:
-puns
-alliteration
-quotations
- An enigma... NOT Jeff Hardy
5. In the IMAGE:
-angle (Not Kurt) what that means about the
status of the person
-cantered
-colour
-an incogruity something out of place
-the content of the picture
6. Then talk about how this links to the text. So for example.
Does the world need Ethan Carter?
TNA sensation EC3 recently broke onto
the wrestling promotion via the position
of power in the Carter family. Dixie
Carter. The young talent does have the
appearance of a wrestler but does he
have what it takes in the ring? Critics say
that “EC3 is just a waste of money, he
barely wrestles and the guy is just so
annoying!”.However Ethan Disagrees, “
as the old saying goes... The world needs
carters. Don't worry you’ll all realize why
I am the next big thing in TNA and all of
Pro wrestling very soon.”
What the article is about... me
7. This question is always the soppy one. The
thoughts and feelings question.
HOWEVER make sure not to write about
language as it will loose you marks. The
best way to do this is to look at the
beginning, middle and end of the article
and see how these feeling change or
develop. Make sure to be tentative
though
8. This one is slightly more tricky. It should be 4
paragraphs if you compare both texts in each
paragraph but 8 if you do it separately.
9. This is your chance to stop and take a brake for a
minute as these next questions rely heavily on
planning and thinking about what you right.
Make sure to show clarity of thought, be
original and interesting to gain marks!
10. This is Crucial!
Question 1,2,3= spend 12 minutes each
Question 4 =24 minutes
Question 5 =25 minutes
Question 6 =35 minutes
