Most people who have read the book may wonder what happened after Doon and Lina got above

Jeanne Duprau and is about these two kids named Lina and Doon. Lina found instructions about on
how to possibly leave the city. Later on they found the exit in the pipeworks but Lina could not

In the summer of 1939, the magical movie The Wizard of Oz was released from Hollywood.
The movie was remarkably popular at the time, and many impoverished Americans of the Great

was due to its release at the time of the Great Depression, to viewers who were desperate for hope

First, the movies of the time period depicted the common American people as heroic figures instead

This implies that Americans found relatable characters who made a supernatural difference gave

salvation of America at a time where big corporations and the rich were thought to have led America

For many centuries, witches have been around. The meaning of the word witch has changed over
time. Before, it was a gender–neutral term but it is now associated with women. There are different
types of witches and they each had different powers. The word witch came from the word Wicca
which is an old English word and slowly, it was changed to wicked by the Catholic Church. For as
long as it was around, witches and witchcraft were looked at negatively and those who practiced
witchcraft were poorly treated. Despite the time difference and geographical areas, there were
similarities in how women, witches, and those who were accused were treated. Treatment towards
witches was influenced by oral stories, experiences, and pop culture.
The word "Wicca" means wisdom. The witches were turned to when one needed help. Witches of
different types used spells, magic, and potions. Many had feared witches, especially the Catholic
church. Slowly the meaning was changed to wicked. Some types of witches included witch doctors,
Halloween witch, seductress or sire, Wiccan, voodoo witch, satanist, and many more. A witch doctor
and voodoo witch are someone who uses power to heal and protect against other's magic. A
Halloween witch is is a stereotypical witch that is portrayed as the complete opposite of what a
woman should be, and is represented as an ugly, old, evil, hag. A seducing woman who uses her
looks as a mean to lure one in is a seductress or sire. A Wiccan is one who practices the old religion
and believes in the power of the Earth. One who worships the Devil is a satanist. Harmless or not,
witches and those accused of witches were poorly treated. In different places, treatment was similar.
Treatment included beatings, imprisonment, and death. Many were accused, outed, interrogated,
shamed, arrested, tortured, segregated, or killed. Anyone and everyone could be accused but the
major targets were women, widows, the poor, the elderly, those who used herbal remedies, and those
with knowledge in medicine and astrology.

Fortunately, we have critics who watch most of these movies and write reviews to help narrow down

critic to base judgements off of because he does an exceptional job summarizing the plot, stating his

How Is Glinda A Wicked Witch
The Wicked Witch of the West's hunger for power is another big part of her character. She spends
much of her time in both the film and the book wanting the ruby slippers, or in the case of the book,
the silver shoes, because of the powers they possess. One might also speculate that an additional
reason the Witch was so mad at Dorothy when her sister was squashed, is because the witch felt
threatened by this newcomer that is apparently powerful enough to kill a witch. If the Witch of the
West did, in fact, feel threatened by Dorothy, it would certainly explain why she felt the need to
continually assert her dominance over Dorothy and threaten her.

But then an evil witch the wicked witch of the west sees that her sister was killed and tries to get the
ruby slippers from Dorothy, then she disappears. After that Dorothy goes on her trip to Emerald city.
Along her trip to Emerald city she finds new people to take with her, the Scarecrow, the Tinman, and
the Cowardly Lion. They finally get to emerald city, and they had a bit of trouble getting to the
wizard but eventually got to him. After they went through all of this trouble with the wicked witch
and getting to the wizard, he tells them they have to get the wicked witch of the west's broom from
her. Then they go off to get the broomstick from the witch but something terrible happens. The
wicked witch sent flying monkeys after dorothy to take her slippers. Then Dorothy got taken away
to the witches castle and Dorothy only had little time to live before the witch killed her. But luckily
Toto escaped and warned everyone to save Dorothy. They break into the room Dorothy was in and
saved her but then the witch and everyone chases after them. They were running around the castle to
try and escape but then they get cornered. The wicked witch of the west sets the Scarecrow on fire,
but then Dorothy grabs a bucket of water and puts out the fire, and also kills the wicked witch. The
people reward Dorothy for killing the witch by giving them the witches broomstick and head back to
the wizard.

Dr. Mehmet Oz, commonly known as Dr. Oz, hosts a successful American TV show that focuses on
health, a topic that western culture has obsessed over. Recently, an increasing number of Americans
have sought to lead a better lifestyle by eating better; however, false advertisement has made
everyone believe that they must be willing to spend a small fortune to eat healthily. In the writing
"Give (Frozen) Peas A Chance And Carrots Too", Oz argues that one does not need to eat like the
1% to maintain a nutritious diet (1). His purpose is to inform his audience how and why they should
shop smarter, and he undoubtedly does an excellent job at persuading them to take his advice to
heart. He does so by forming a friendly bond with his audience, taking his argument to a personal
level, and using facts to compare normal, store–bought foods to their organic counterparts. The only
distinguishable weakness in Oz's writing is that he fails to support his facts with evidence which
leaves his arguments prone to becoming hollow. Dr. Oz is able to effectively get through to his
audience by connecting with them on different levels of trust. For example, he formulates a friendly
connection by keeping a casual, sociable tone, and at the same time, he uses ethos by establishing
that he is a doctor to create a sense professionalism. Oz writes, "as a doctor, I know that patients
don't always have the time, energy or budget to shop for artisanal ingredients and whip them into a
meal" (1). He's trying to sound understanding of his audience's situation to make him more
trustworthy. With these strategies, Oz is able to build his trust on both a doctor–patient and a
friendly platform which gets his audience to listen to him with an open mind. Oz successfully uses
pathos to keep his audience engaged in his writing. He's able to anger his audience at something
they might have never been even slightly flustered over by bringing up that which most people hold

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass and The Wizard of Oz are fictional
stories about the coming of age. Children relate to these stories and admire both Alice and Dorothy.
In what can be assumed are Alice's and Dorothy's dreams, we see various anthropomorphic creatures
and animals. There imaginary worlds lead both girls to face situations in which they must think
maturely and at the same time lose a bit of their innocence, similar to when a young child takes their
first step in becoming their own mature and independent person. When both girls admit for the first
time they were not who they were when they first entered their dreams, they took their first step into
a new world of decision making and maturity. Alice and Dorothy mature throughout the story and
leaving behind the dependence and innocence every person once had. Both girls are coming to the
age of independence. Throughout Alice's and Dorothy's journey in wonderland it can be seen that
each girl loses the air of innocence they had at the beginning of the story. The stories, Alice's

film directed by Victor Fleming, all represent a coming of age story where a young girl must go on a
journey, let go of her childishness, and mature and face her fears in order to find their way home.
Distinguishing what is a dream and what is reality can be difficult. Most times it is obvious that a
dream is only a dream.
