Jennifer Hudson Research Paper
Jennifer Hudson may not have had our attention when she first appeared on television as an
American Idol contestant, but she has our attention now! The actress has been shining brightly since
receiving her big break in Dreamgirls (2006), but here are some facts about the actress you may not
know.
Number Fifteen: Jennifer Hudson Did Not Win American Idol
The competition show American Idol has been credited by many of its winners for giving them their
start in the music business. Jennifer did not win, but she did gain her first sense of fame on the show
after coming in seventh on the third season.
Number Fourteen: She's Now A Broadway Star
Jennifer Hudson may have starred in the movie musical Dreamgirls (2006), but she had not been on
Broadway prior to 2015. She made her stage debut in the revival of ... Show more content on

She has three albums under her belt and she also won a Grammy Award for her first album, Jennifer

Number Twelve: Her Film Career Isn't Too Shabby Either
Once Jennifer got a taste of the spotlight on television, she kept going with it. She beat out her
American Idol competitor Fantasia Barrino for a role in the film version of Dreamgirls (2006) which
earned her a Golden Globe and Academy Award.
Number Eleven: She Is a Dramatic Soprano
If anyone can "belt for Jesus" as the saying goes, it is Jennifer Hudson. As a soprano, and a dramatic
one at that, she has a vocal range from a C3 to a C#6.
Number Ten: She Is In A Powerful Group of Oscar Winners
When Jennifer won her Oscar for Dreamgirls (2006), she became the 15th African American actress
to be nominated for Best Supporting Actress. Other nominees include Hattie McDaniel, Ethel

Technology and the American Dream
Technology and The American Dream
The idea that no matter where you start in life you have opportunity to work hard and gain
prosperity and success, is also known as the American Dream. Which nowadays seems to be an
almost dying if not already totally dead concept. Something seen only in fairy tales and movies and
not really so much in real life. In these days and times it seems as though it does not matter how
hard you work, but rather the people you know, that decide whether you will have the opportunity to
be successful or not. But if you are just an everyday person how exactly are you supposed to go
about making those connections with people that really matter? The ones that can really help you? It
almost seems like if you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His dream finally began to come together in 2009 when his videos captured the interest of a
manager who then contacted him and helped him in the process of meeting the right people. He met
with Usher who took him to meet L.A. Reid and then got him signed to Island Def Jam Recordings.
He then released his first album, and went platinum just two months later. Using technology Justin
was able to broadcast his talent to the world, get discovered, and to create a fanbase. These things
were eventually the foundations for his fame. To this day his original fans continue to be his biggest
supporters and they help to keep him successful. Not only was he blessed in his rise to fame, but the
speed in which he achieved it all is remarkable as well.
Without the Internet and technology his probability of ever getting the chance to meet any of those
big name record labels would have been next to zero and his fanbase would probably have never
have achieved the size that it is now.
Perhaps an even greater example of technology's influence on the music industry is told with the
story of the british boyband One Direction. They were first introduced to the world when they
appeared as individual contestants on the U.K.'s The X Factor, but as individual contestants they
didn't make it very far in the competition. Their first lucky break from even being

Pottery Failure
Do you know how to make pottery? You make a shape of pottery you want with a clay and put it
into the fire, which is temperature of 850 degrees. That smooth clay becomes hard when it goes into
the fire. However, if you drop the pottery which goes into the fire once, it will crack. To make the
hardest pottery, you put into the fire again and again. This means that the hot fire is significant step
to make pottery stronger. Hot fire is like a failure. If people endure the failure and never give up,
that weak people will become stronger and successful people. If people are afraid of failure and try
to escape, they will not make success like a normal pottery. Failure is a necessary step to be
successful because it always gives people a lesson and make them stronger. I could realize this fact

I thought that the failure is shameful to do and should not happen. Therefore, I never tried something
that I was not sure if I would do it right or wrong. For example, I came from Korea when I was 7th
grade, meaning English is my second language. Therefore, I always felt embarrassing talking
English with my weird accent and pronunciation. If I did not speak, everyone thought that I am
fluent in English. Therefore, that time, I always stayed quietly in school.. My middle school teachers
knew that I just came from Korea and they helped me a lot. For instance, they let me use Korean
dictionary during the test and they let me just present to teachers instead of in whole class. When I
came to high school, there was no excuse. I needed to present in class and I needed to communicate
with other people. However, I skipped class if i had a presentation and I tried to stay

The E ! Entertainment Channel
In the Fall of 2007 television season, the year Keeping Up with the Kardashians began, reality
programming held 77.3 percent of viewership during the primetime block (Nielsen Research, 2011).
The E! Entertainment channel is home to Keeping Up with the Kardashians and is purveyor of
twenty–two reality television shows, with fourteen centering on women. In its first season the
program snagged the number one spot for capturing the viewership of women between the ages of
18 and 34 (Kinon, 2007). The viewership of the Kardashians is causing significant rippling
impressions in how women–and by extension all of society–are conceptualizing femininity. Clearly,
audiences are investing time in watching the program considering that at the end of last year the
program ranked number five on E! Online's "Top 10 Reality Series of 2012" list (Mullins, 2012).
Thus, the urgency to examine and address the consumption of reality television, particularly
Keeping Up with the Kardashians, has magnified.
In Discipline and Punish, Michel Foucault (1977) asserts that the "panopticon" as an architectural
composition began as a component to keep prisoners under surveillance that prospered as the
modern mechanism of discipline, surveillance and control. This mechanism targeted to manipulate
the bodies' "elements, its gestures, its behaviour", terminating an era of public punishment that
directly contacted the bodies of the citizens by the sovereign power (Foucault, 1977: 200). Instead,

The Concept Of Reality Television In The Truman Show And...
The concept of reality TV was amplified with the film The Truman Show in 1998. On television, it
is largely debated which show was the first "reality TV show" since some may class them anywhere
from game shows to documentaries, such as "Survivor" or "COPS". Reality TV centers around
characters who engage in current day life and situations, often true situations which are unscripted
and spontaneous, captivating audiences by putting them in the shoes of cast members to see if they
judge situations like viewers would. Producers of such programming often pick cast members who
can target specific audiences, such as athletes, working class citizens, or members of either gender
who could relate to the average viewer. In The Truman Show, we see ... Show more content on

In Socrates parable, he describes men at the base of a vertical cave who are subject to open
viewership by anyone. Socrates then introduces the idea that if the men were motivated by any form
of prize would they prefer to remain in the cave or "envy the men exalted to power and honor in the
Cave?" essentially questioning the intent of their imprisonment. Socrates also poses the idea that if
shapes and shadows were introduced, would they think of those things as reality since they don't
know of reality above them? This idea is intensified in The Truman Show, as Truman is placed not
in a cave, but in a massive dome which is similar to the environment on the outside, although things
can be manipulated by Christof and the production crew. Instead of shadows, the world around
truman is a simulation of reality which entices viewers who want to see how he acts not knowing
about the illusions which surrounds his life. Socrates, who is speaking to Glaucon, asks him if the
men would rather live in reality or in shadows where they are most comfortable, to which Glaucon
responds with "Yes, he would prefer any fate to such a life." In The Truman Show, Truman is placed
in a similar decision, where Christof attempts to convince Truman to stay by telling him how harsh
the outside world is and how in his world "you have nothing to fear." Truman turns back towards the
sunlight,

Mark Andrejevic's Essay 'Visceral Literacy'
1) In the essay, Visceral Literacy, Mark Andrejevic establishes the voyeuristic facet of Reality TV
amidst an age characterized by individuals having an immense, uncertainty in regards to both the
creation of public representations and the advent of technologies and methods that promise behind
the scene access. For instance, most Reality TV content feeds to the observer, who is recognized as
the voyeur. Here, Voyeurism can be described in regards to those sources of entertainment that allow
audiences to witness content while simultaneously enabling them to visualize those scenarios which
they previously were incapable of doing so. For example, an integral component of voyeurism is
prevalent amongst shows that allow us to behold and dwell into ... Show more content on

The show is an American hidden camera/practical joke reality T.V. series produced and written by
Allen Funt. Here, the concept of exhibitionism mentioned above aptly applies to this series. This is
because the show, Candid Camera, conclusively acquaints spectators with the exhibition of domestic
video recordings in a mass media TV context. Thus, by portraying exclusive representations on
public screens, Allen Hunt succeeds in making the audience feel comfortable while simultaneously
familiarizing them with representations of acts performed by those individuals who remained
unaware that he/she was being filmed. Here, the show inevitably empowers the notion of
exhibitionism. For instance, the program uses concealing cameras to shoot regular people facing
uncomfortable situations, this sometimes includes the use of trick props. Here, the consciousness of
long–time spectators or voyeurs is inevitably affected. This is because, hypothetically speaking, as
long–time audiences watch the show's pranks, they could grow to believe that a similarly awkward
or discomforting situation could befall them. Here, the voyeurs role and that of the exhibitioner has
inevitably reversed. For example, audiences with such a frame of thought become increasingly
mindful of their behaviors in social surroundings. Here, the individual self takes charge as the
performer when one believes that he/she is under the scrutiny of others. Thus, these people that
perform with their "audience" in mind are consequently conscious that another person may be
monitoring the compatibility prevalent within their actions, behaviors and their individuality. Such
conscious performances are not a staging done solely by the individual. Rather, it is an interplay
connecting the self or person, the environment, and the audience, created to provide others with
impressions of oneself. Thus, the instances mentioned above consequently prompts individuals to

WorkPlay is Helping Musician's Dreams Come True
In Birmingham, Alabama, a popular music venue is helping musician's dreams come true. WorkPlay
sits on the corner of 5th Avenue South and 23rd Street South, and musicians from all over the world
come to play on one of the two stages this venue has. However, on Monday nights at 7pm WorkPlay
hosts a singer/songwriter competition in the theater. These musicians come from all over the state to
play on this stage for 10 weeks. Performing on stage is a dream for many musicians around town
and WorkPlay is making those dreams a reality.
Last summer WorkPlay announced they would be doing a singer/songwriter night that would lead to
each of the top ten musicians having a song recorded live and played on Birmingham Mountain
Radio. The contest would run in a similar fashion to American Idol. The audience members would
pick up a ballot at the box office and vote on each musician on a scale of 1–10. There were nights
that musicians would not stop playing until 11:30pm. American Idol contestant, Jessica Muese, won
the competition, which ended in August 2013. Ellis Hopkins, the man in charge, announced at the
final show that there would be another singer/songwriter competition at WorkPlay soon. Soon
became January 2014.
January 27, 2014 had musicians gathering again for the competition. This time they would be able to
win a $250 cash prize. Several musicians from the fall competition came back to perform and many
new faces came as well. Edward Hartline, who finished 7th in the fall, says

K Pop 's Shady Business Secret Essay
K–pop 's Shady Business Secret
The Korean pop or K–pop industry over the last decade has experienced a major increase in
popularity that has made it a billion dollar competition for foreign music industries. They are
especially known for their extravagant music videos and visual aesthetics, which have attracted
worldwide followings. K–pop companies are also infamous for being brutally strict on training and
restrictions for their trainees and idols. They fixate on the business growth over the musical talent
and content. The problem that stems from creativity and commerce overlapping in the Korean pop
industry is the unethical treatment of its trainees along with the racialization and exploitation of idol
groups in different global markets, due to the commanding force of the industry.
The last decade has seen the rapid globalization and popularity of the korean entertainment industry
worldwide, which is known as the Hallyu wave. It expanded into international markets through
social media platforms such as Youtube, which served as a method of free mass distribution,
securing many international fans. Having recently broken into the American and European market,
K–pop exists as Korea's biggest export, the industry itself being worth $3 billion. This results in
creativity being determined by how much business flows into the industry internationally. As a
result, there is looming pressure on the industry to continue growing and making big money. "K–

attempt at Sia pokes fun at her large blond wigs and relationship with fellow blonde bobbed Sia

Some of her most comical moments from the commercial come while impersonating Cher and Lady
Gaga. Dressed in Gaga's head to toe red lace bodysuit, Christina Aguilera asks if the iconic red
chairs can be reupholstered or possibly covered in bacon. Why the outlandish request? She is afraid
that her meat dress will stick to the fabric. Cher on the other hand gets confused about her fellow
judges, thinking that Levine is her accountant.

Dancing For The Rhythm Of Underwood 's Heartbeat
Dancing to the Rhythm of Underwood's Heartbeat
Storyteller by Carrie Underwood is one of her best albums yet. She is a phenomenal singer who won
American Idol back in 2005 and has not left the top since. Although Underwood went from nobody
to the top extremely quick, the media still portrays her as being level headed unlike many other
celebrities. Her debut album Some Hearts was declared the best–selling album of 2006 in all genres.
Underwood is the most successful of any Idol winner and is also the only country artist to have his
or her first five albums all reaching first or second on the Billboard 200 chart. When she released
Storyteller in 2015, I had nothing but high expectations from this magnificent vocalist. In the
Storyteller album, Underwood shows her passion for her life through her songs. She does this with
catchy beats and memorable lyrics that share her stories to listeners through her music and does so
very successfully.
The album Storyteller is performed by country artist Carrie Underwood and was released on
October 23, 2015. Mark Bright, Zach Crowell, and Jay Joyce produced this album. This album has
thirteen songs and is approximately 46 minutes long. Storyteller's target audience would be mostly
young adults and older teens but can be enjoyable for many others including all country music fans.
Underwood's Storyteller is generally positively reviewed and has been nominated for country album
of the year. This is definitely an album to remember.

Reality Television and The Negative Impact on the...
With a sense of voyeurism millions of Americans tune into reality television every night without
much thought of the negative message these show project. Since 1948 with the inception of Candid
Camera viewers have been able to select between scripted television and reality television changing
the nature of at home entertainment. The Millennium marked a change with the Academy of Arts
and Science adding the reality genre to the Emmy Awards, celebrating ordinary people in unscripted
situations. However with more and more of theses shows glamorizing negative behavior and social
situations as well as taking away from scripted television and rewarding bad behavior it is no
wonder the Millennial and next generations are said to be doomed.
In recent years there has been an evolution in television networks that focus the majority of their
programing on reality television. Bravo which is owned by NBC originally focused on performing
arts and independent films shifted to a focus on pop culture, fashion and celebrities in 2003. The
original content of these shows was ways to better ones self with makeovers, however the birth of
the Real Housewives franchise in 2006 brought on a much more negative trend. With the high
saturation of "real" women in different area codes now playing out unscripted but seemingly over–
produced drama comes the negative propaganda that this is how women are suppose to behave.

Reality TV Is A Negative Impact On Teens
Reality TV is having a negative impact on teens, exposing them unacceptable behavior at a young
age. With teens being glued to the TV these days they are being shown the ugly truth of how the
media portrays society. Sex, drugs and partying are just a few examples of what reality shows tend
to show, as teens grow up to see this as a normal thing to do. With all the inappropriate things
shown, come no repercussions. As teens grow up to see these actions they can be more prone to teen
pregnancy, drug overdose, and even car accidents while being under the influence. Reality TV
shows aren't always reality they sometimes act and start drama to get more views. With drama
comes aggression and fights. Fights and trash talking being shown as the only way to resolve a
problem, young teens grow up knowing nothing better, and mirror their actions. Bulling is also
being shown in reality TV shows along with gossiping and is seen as a normal thing among teen
girls. We look down on bulling and teach young children not to do it, while on the other hand it's
being shown by the popular girl at school that everyone loves. When teen girls see their favorite
actress talking behind others back, and lying, they still idolize them. With looks and popularity
being idolized, young teens see this as being valued by your appearance and social status. Seeing
reality TV stars who look near perfect give young teens false hope and belief on what they should
look like. The Kardashian for instance is a big family that has their own show and seem like they
have this perfect life and perfect body's looked at by young girls they seen this as how they 2 should
look and be. Teens are just too young to see the truth behind the media and that not everyone can be
this model like actress with the perfect body. With lack of information on the actors and actress in
there real life teens see them as just a pretty face, when they really are successful in there real life
and smart enough to win the casting role. While Reality TV shows appear to be "reality" it's

The Positive And Negative Aspects Of Reality Television :...
The modern day Reality TV has spawned from decades of transformation, and a change in the
public interest, however has this change been for the better? Americans spend countless hours
watching television; some may not even realize the show they are watching is in fact Reality TV.
This new hybrid of television is capturing the interest of many, comprising of children and adults,
which is creating a family norm to watch Reality TV. This form of television is beneficial to help
recognize social issues, through various life–learning shows, while building stronger relationships of
the family dynamic. Many teenagers watch Reality TV, and there are positive and negative aspects
that come with such a young audience viewing these shows. A survey by the Girl Scout Research
Institute reports a significant contrast in girls who watch Reality TV than those who don't. 46%
compared to 27% of girls who watch Reality TV aspire to be leaders and role–models in their
communities. These attributes are very valued, and through developing characteristics of being a
leader we will be able to see young girls mold into forward thinking leaders in the future.
Furthermore, this new format for television also has diverse groups of people who help convey
pressing social issues, which can relate to a wide variety of viewers. In the same survey, 62% said
the shows made them more conscious of social issues and causes, which is a monumental positive of
such shows. When thinking about culture and all it encompasses, we tend to get lost in all the

Taking a Closer Look At Your Personal Ministry Essay
You didn't know that you were doing it and you were not aware of how it was affecting your

way. I hope to share my experiences with you so that you may see how the book has impacted me.
As a result of reading this book I have grown closer in my relationship with Christ our Savior. The

I also found this to be interesting as this trepidation has permutated in just about all characteristics
of my life. Rick Newman writes blogs for US News. In his blog, "Lose the Microwave Mentality",
Newman says, "Microwave ovens have been heating leftovers and popping popcorn for a
generation, a daily bit of wizardry that makes waiting for anything seem obsolete. And the
microwave mentality has spread far beyond the kitchen". Wow, get out my kitchen Mr. Newman!
Basically, what Newman is elaborating on is comparable to what Hostetler also is pointing out.
Hostetler states that the world has developed this need for instant gratification and gives biblical

wait for Gods timing. In the previous discussion there was a focus on a "have it now" type of
worship experience. But lets switch gears a bit and discuss the last and final point of my discussion.
I wrestled with this topic for quite sometime because I have experienced this very issue just about
two years ago. Chapter 8, "The Cult of Personal Experience", Hostetler expounds upon the
emotional state of people and their connection to the church. He discusses how people hungered for
worship that engaged their intellect (103). Two years ago God spoke to me and guided my

Jason Andersons Influence On American Idol
The reality TV show, American Idol, provides everyday men and women with the opportunity to
showcase their vocal talent and compete for fame, fortune, and a record deal. While American Idol
has attracted and thereby produced some of the greatest artists of the 2000's, such as Carrie
Underwood and Kelly Clarkson, the show also attracts many extremely untalented singers who are
truly convinced that they have what it takes to be America's next sensation. Ronetta Johnson of
Charlotte, NC claimed that she could be, "bigger than Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey." However,
when she attempted to showcase her fame–worthy singing voice, a horrific slew of Britney Spears',
"Oops I Did it Again," flowed from her vocal chords. And, when the judges rejected ... Show more

He entered a singing competition and performed a juggling routine merely accompanied by a
performance of off–pitch singing. After his audition, Jason sobbed and mentioned that he still truly
believed that he had the talent to be famous. Jason's false perception of his talent is likely partly due
to the perseverance effect. The perseverance effect, also known as belief persistence, was coined by
Ross, Lepper, and Hubbard in 1975. This theory describes the tendency of people to grip tightly
onto their judgement on a topic despite persuasive information proving them to be wrong. When
provided information that contradicts their beliefs, people tend to dismiss, reject, or discredit the
evidence. Jason's audition highlights the concept of belief persistence in that Jason has convinced
himself that he is so talented at singing that he could be famous for it. And, when the judges –
professional musicians – reveal to him that singing is not his forté, he does not believe them. Rather,
he holds so tightly onto his belief that he is such an amazing singer that he cries to Ryan Seacrest,
"Singing is what I should be doing, I know it!" Furthermore, when presented with expert
information contradictory to his own beliefs, Jason does not change his beliefs, but rather says that
the criticism he received was rude and belittling. Because belief persistence plays such a large role

Survivor or The Amazing Race? Essay
Survivor or The Amazing Race? Reality television is well known for its exhibition in unscripted
dramatic and often humorous events that portrays real life people as opposed to professional actors.
Reality television is mostly associated with the years after 2000. Television's popular, long–running
reality series Survivor, and The Amazing Race both have similar goals and outcomes, despite their
themes, challenges, and ingenuity. Survivor is far more entertaining than The Amazing Race with its
use of clever challenges, cast elimination, and overall ingenuity. The ingenuity and overall quality of
the challenges in Survivor is far more appealing than in The Amazing Race. In Survivor, the
challenges mostly involve endurance, balance, mental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in The Amazing Race, teams race across foreign countries to solve riddles and puzzles
while being timed. Whereas Survivor involves physical, mental, and endurance to win the immunity
idol, a hot cooked meal, and survive an elimination vote. Even though, The Amazing Race has a
number of illustrious challenges, Survivor is simply more entertaining. Men and women wrestle for
food, stab each other in the back, argue over petty issues, display love and anger towards one
another while playing a strategic game of surviving the elements as well as outlasting one another.
Likewise, the cast elimination in Survivor is more intense and suspenseful than The Amazing Race.
Survivor's clever idea in creating a cast vote elimination brought the audience a thrill seeker in
wondering who will be voted off the island next. In comparison, The Amazing Race leaves the
audience with a feeling of which ever team arrives at the checkpoint last automatically is voted off.
Whereas, Survivor's cast elimination grabs the audience's attention from the very first episode with
its use of jaw dropping cast vote off elimination. Generally, each season begins with a twist,
something different to surprise the new castaways. In contrast, The Amazing Race does not create
much of an excitement. Survivor is a game of adaptation, with two cast members left at the end
drawing a conclusion to which player is most effective in adapting to their surroundings as well as
the people they are competing

Carrie Underwood
Coming from a small town in Oklahoma, Carrie Underwood never thought she would become
country music's next big thing, but that is exactly what happened. However, even after being named
Entertainer of The Year, Carrie Underwood always remembered to remain true and to give back her
to fans, and hometown.
Carrie Underwood is a country music singer, tv actress, and her own songwriter. On March 10,
1983, Carrie Marie Underwood was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was raised in Checotah, by
her mother Carole, and her father, Stephen (Knapp). Growing up in the country, she enjoyed things
like playing on dirt roads, climbing trees, and of course singing (Fabian). Carrie was an excellent

Salutatorian. Carrie later attended Northeastern State University, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to major
in mass communication. In 2006, she graduated with a Bachelors degree (Knapp). However, Carrie

Reality Tv Shows
Based on these criteria qualified industries were call centres and reality TV shows. In deciding
between these alternatives, I interviewed a few stakeholders within the call centre and media
industries. The feedback was that there is minimal use of video interviewing within these industries,
which suggests a blue ocean opportunity. In addition, we had a conversation with the CEO of Kira
Talent. We discovered that Kira Talent had pitched to companies with huge call centre operations
previously, but gained minimal traction. This was attributed to insufficient appreciation for the
presentation skills of the candidates in the current recruitment process. We recommend that, Kira
Talent should enter into the audition of reality TV shows, because the applicant pool is quite large
and for every season, new set of candidates are interviewed. Further, this industry values camera–
facing skills to improve the ratings of the show. We believe that the company will gain traction
faster in the US because of larger market and more awareness.
7.3 Overview– Reality TV industry
By definition, reality TV is essentially unscripted programming that does not employ actors but
focuses on footage of real events or situations. Reality TV has been dominating the TV industry
since the late 90s and has increased to 57% of all television shows. US and Canada account for 930

Marketing Strategy Of Stealth Marketing
INTRODUCTION
Did you know that very day we are imprinted with marketing and we don't even realizing it!
Marketers are eager to find new ways on how to get into your subconscious to sell their product or
deliver their message. This is what is called "Stealth Marketing". Stealth Marketing is any marketing
strategy that advertises to consumers without them knowing it. It is used in product placement,
celebrity endorsements, and ad agents.
PRODUCT PLACEMNET Product placement is practice in which manufacturers of goods or
providers of a service gain exposure by paying for them to be featured in movies and TV
programming. In the earlier days producers would approach companies to use their products in their
films. During production of E.T., Amblin Productions and Steven Spielberg approached Mars, Inc.
about a possible tie–in between M&M's and the film. For water reason, Mars said "No" to their
proposition. By declining this offer, Mars' paved the way for Hershey's Reese's Pieces. Hershey
agreed to do a tie–in between the movie and the candy after the film was released. A deal was
contracted wherein Hershey Foods agreed to promote E.T. with $1 million of advertising: in return,
Hershey could use E.T. in its own ads. (Mikkelson, 2011). The payoff was huge! Reese's Pieces saw
a reported 65% jump in profits just two weeks after E.T. premiered.
Another example would be Risky Business, starring Tom Cruise. The Wayferer sunglasses that Tom
Cruise modeled in the movie were pretty

Reality Television throughout the Years
Reality television has been around for many years. In fact Alan Funt was the first to create a reality
show, with his 1948 TV series Candid Camera that is often thought as reality TV's first show. In
fact, he started a year earlier with Candid Microphone on the radio. Truth or Consequences started in
1950 and frequently used secret cameras. Both of these two pioneering series created artificial
realties to see how normal people would respond; the reality series of today borrow a lot from these
shows and differ mostly in extent and setting. A number of "who am I?" game shows accommodated
the clunky nature of early TV technology by bringing real people into the studio. Like What's My
Line premiered in 1950; and I've Got a Secret in 1952. These shows seem tame by today's standards,
but were certainly cutting edge in the 1950s.
But the term reality show was not used to describe shows until about the mid 1970's. Perhaps ahead
of its time was An American Family on PBS in 1973. This show was a bit unusual at its time
because of its topic it was about on a apparently regular family named the Louds, who had many
secrets. This series was at first considered to be in the documentary genre but it was beyond the
traditional bounds. The daily lives of the Loud family were on display. The televised decision of the
parents to divorce and the on–screen coming out of their gay son shocked audiences in the 1970s.
Sociologist Margaret Mead noted to TV Guide that this no longer fit the

There are tears and screams as contestants, one by one, get through to the next round. Along the way
to fame, the contestants on American Idol receive mean, nasty and often degrading criticisms from
the judges. Those who are not the most attractive seep through the auditions based on fantastic
singing and have a much harder time pursuing their hopefully destined career compared to a
naturally attractive singer. The drama that is stirred up during the auditions and throughout the show
is why people tend to watch.
Image is a big factor on American Idol because whoever wins the competition receives a million
dollar contract with a well–known recording producer. A record producer would not want a less than
celebrity caliber person representing his or her label because image is a huge factor in our society
and they know for a fact that someone not photogenic would not sell. They want someone who has
some unique aspect to their appearance or personality that would attract people to buy their album.
Since the recording producer works for Simon, it is partly his duty to make good decisions about
who he says goodbye to, and who he puts though to the final thirty. Perhaps this is why Simon is so
critical and mean to people, but that is what America loves about him. Since America loves first
impressions and style, they will base their favorites on typically what they see from the show.

mom have always been teaching me to do more and to get out and be more confident. Sometimes it's
kind of annoying but I appreciate it because it's made me into the artist I am today. Since I was little

Screenwriters can either have the best of benefits or very little, it all depends who the employer of

The second part is where the fun part actually starts, you're going to add one or two heaping
spoonfuls of regular white frosting to the crumbled up cake you have.
Keep adding frosting until you get the consistency pretty doughy, but still firm enough to handle.
After kneeding the dough thoroughly you're going to want to roll the dough out inch size balls.
A normal box of cake mix should make about 20 cake pops.
After all the balls are rolled out, they should go in the fridge or freezer for about a half an hour to
help them set. After those agonizing thirty minutes are up, you're able to take the cake pops out of
the refrigerator or freezer, and then melt some almond bark.
After dipping the stick in the almond bark, you're going to want to stick it about halfway through the
now official "cake pop".
The chocolate on the stick is to help the stick stay sturdy while you actually eat the sweet treat.
When you've finished putting the sticks into each of the cake balls, you should put them back into
the refrigerator in order to help the chocolate solidify.
Transition:
The last part we're going to focus on is probably the most simple. Decorating the cake pop.
Using the previously melted almond bark, you can simply dip the cake pop in and spread a thin
layer of chocolate all around the pop.
While the chocolate is still wet, feel free to decorate in any way you'd like. For today I just used

Choosing Reality
What we as a society watch on television really depends on the choices we make. George F. Will
writes in his article "Reality Television: Oxymoron" of an increasingly infantilized society, whose
moral philosophy is reducible to the celebration of "choice", where adults are decreasingly
distinguishable from children in their absorption in entertainments. This is a society in which
"choice" exceeds all others and competition improves things. This society is built upon choice in
every aspect of life and choice determines the way of life. For what they are watching is a
representation of their choice. I do agree with George Will that reality television is becoming much
more violent and sexual but what it really comes down to is the viewer's ... Show more content on

His analogies help to paint a picture and visualize what his argument is about. You are able to feel a
good amount of poise or confidence in his writing. Will uses examples and mentions programs like
Fear Factor, MTV's Jackass, and even the NFL to relate his argument to something that we as the
readers are somewhat familiar with. In Dana Steven's article "Thinking Outside the Idiot Box" she
writes, "shouldn't grown men and women be trusted to judge their own dosages, just as they would
decide on the number of drinks they can handle at the bar? And shouldn't we choose our favorite
shows because we like them, not because they force our otherwise helpless cortexes to 'manag[e]
resources' and 'recognize long–term patterns'?" (Stevens 234). Of course, because whether our
society feels reality television will make us smarter or not, it really doesn't make a difference. We
have a freedom of choice and if reality TV is what people like to watch then who will stop them.
Men and women should and do have a choice to decide what they really want to watch and this is
why television has become more explicit. We as a society are deciding what is acceptable to be
shown on television and TV is a reflection of what the world is really like. If no one watched this so
called, "perversity programming" then the ratings would rapidly decline and it would cease to exist
and yet it is still being shown like never before. Then on the other hand we as a society have a

Simon Cowell, a very successful man who grew up in London and has moved here to the United
States. He has developed 3 different hit TV shows. 1 airing in the U.K, and 2 airing in the United
States. Cowell is still a very successful man today, even though 1 of his shows have been canceled.
But how? How is Simon still such a successful? Simon Cowell was born October 7th, 1959 in
London, England. Cowell's father Eric Philip Cowell was an estate agent and a music executive. His
mother Julie Brett was a stay at home mother and a Ballet dancer. Julie loved to stay home with her
6 children. Cowell being the 4 child of the 6. Cowell had 4 brother and a sister, making him the
second oldest of them all. Cowell attended Radlett Prepatory school, but hated ... Show more

That was quite a failure. This company impacted the U.K., by giving them a good show to entertain
them, and many loved it through the 2 seasons it lasted. In the year 2002, Cowell created yet another
show called American Idol. This show would air in the United States, and have the same rules as
Pop Idol. The show would hold auditions for people who believed they had a talent in singing. There
were 3 judges, Cowell being one. Then, the people who were at home watching, would send in their
vote, and that would decide who won the show. The only difference was that, the overall winner
would get 1,000,000 dollars toward a record deal, instead of only having one option, like pop idol.
Also, the finalist who did not win, would also get a record deal, but this was only for the runner up.
American has been around for 14 years, and still going strong. The net worth of the company at the
start of the show is unknown, but it is said that, American Idol made $836 million dollars just in ad
revenues in the year 2014. The 2 biggest sponsors of the show are coke–a–cola and Ford, which
bring in $10 million dollars each season. A big challenge that the show faced was the loss of Simon

Essay on Never Giving Up
It has been said that life can never be carried out and truly lived to its fullest unless there has been
some sort of suffering and pain. Mistakes are to be learned from, and a hard past can only result in a
stronger present. Though many might find themselves alone in their misery the truth is they are not,
everyone has struggles. We all have our ups and downs, but it is how we react to them that truly
matters. Life is life and no matter what, giving up on lifelong dreams and aspirations because of a
few bumps in the road should never be an option. "It isn't where you come from; it's where your
going that counts," stated a very wise woman by the name of Ella Fitzgerald. This may be hard to
believe but even people with great success like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At an early age, Fantasia was a victim of rape and divorce. She pursued a music career in her small
town of North Carolina but found that she just did not stand out from among the other teens. With
low self–esteem, it was not long before Fantasia fell into the wrong crowd and found herself a
seventeen–year–old, pregnant, illiterate, high school drop out. Fantasia faced a lot of criticism when
she was considered for America's idol, but she did not let that bother her and continued on to
become an idol for those who like her have come from a hard background. Like Helen Keller once
said, "No Pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars or sailed to an unchartered land." Fantasia
Barrino has proven that "life is not a Fairy Tale" but you can sure make it one. It is not just
celebrities that can overcome a troubled past and live up to their potential it is also people just like
us. Who knows, the big shot lawyer next door could have been the one bullied in school and told
time and time again that he was not good enough. It is all about strength and perseverance, believe
despite the odds and what others say. To find success in the outside world you must first find it in
yourself. In Ella Fitzgerald's own words, "Just don't give up trying to do what you really want to do.
Where there is love and inspiration, I don't think you can go

Jennifer Hudson Research Paper

  • 1. Jennifer Hudson Research Paper Jennifer Hudson may not have had our attention when she first appeared on television as an American Idol contestant, but she has our attention now! The actress has been shining brightly since receiving her big break in Dreamgirls (2006), but here are some facts about the actress you may not know. Number Fifteen: Jennifer Hudson Did Not Win American Idol The competition show American Idol has been credited by many of its winners for giving them their start in the music business. Jennifer did not win, but she did gain her first sense of fame on the show after coming in seventh on the third season. Technology and the American Dream Technology and The American Dream The idea that no matter where you start in life you have opportunity to work hard and gain prosperity and success, is also known as the American Dream. Which nowadays seems to be an almost dying if not already totally dead concept. Something seen only in fairy tales and movies and not really so much in real life. In these days and times it seems as though it does not matter how hard you work, but rather the people you know, that decide whether you will have the opportunity to be successful or not. But if you are just an everyday person how exactly are you supposed to go about making those connections with people that really matter? The ones that can really help you? It almost seems like if you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His dream finally began to come together in 2009 when his videos captured the interest of a manager who then contacted him and helped him in the process of meeting the right people. Using technology Justin was able to broadcast his talent to the world, get discovered, and to create a fanbase. These things were eventually the foundations for his fame. To this day his original fans continue to be his biggest supporters and they help to keep him successful. Not only was he blessed in his rise to fame, but the speed in which he achieved it all is remarkable as well. Without the Internet and technology his probability of ever getting the chance to meet any of those big name record labels would have been next to zero and his fanbase would probably have never have achieved the size that it is now. Perhaps an even greater example of technology's influence on the music industry is told with the story of the british boyband One Direction. They were first introduced to the world when they appeared as individual contestants on the U.K.'s The X Factor, but as individual contestants they didn't make it very far in the competition. • 8. Pottery Failure Do you know how to make pottery? You make a shape of pottery you want with a clay and put it into the fire, which is temperature of 850 degrees. That smooth clay becomes hard when it goes into the fire. However, if you drop the pottery which goes into the fire once, it will crack. To make the hardest pottery, you put into the fire again and again. This means that the hot fire is significant step to make pottery stronger. Hot fire is like a failure. If people endure the failure and never give up, that weak people will become stronger and successful people. If people are afraid of failure and try to escape, they will not make success like a normal pottery. Failure is a necessary step to be successful because it always gives people a lesson and make them stronger. I could realize this fact from my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If I did not speak, everyone thought that I am fluent in English. Therefore, that time, I always stayed quietly in school.. My middle school teachers knew that I just came from Korea and they helped me a lot. For instance, they let me use Korean dictionary during the test and they let me just present to teachers instead of in whole class. When I came to high school, there was no excuse. • 10. The E ! Entertainment Channel In the Fall of 2007 television season, the year Keeping Up with the Kardashians began, reality programming held 77.3 percent of viewership during the primetime block (Nielsen Research, 2011). The E! Entertainment channel is home to Keeping Up with the Kardashians and is purveyor of twenty–two reality television shows, with fourteen centering on women. In its first season the program snagged the number one spot for capturing the viewership of women between the ages of 18 and 34 (Kinon, 2007). The viewership of the Kardashians is causing significant rippling impressions in how women–and by extension all of society–are conceptualizing femininity. Clearly, audiences are investing time in watching the program considering that at the end of last year the program ranked number five on E! Online's "Top 10 Reality Series of 2012" list (Mullins, 2012). Thus, the urgency to examine and address the consumption of reality television, particularly Keeping Up with the Kardashians, has magnified. In Discipline and Punish, Michel Foucault (1977) asserts that the "panopticon" as an architectural composition began as a component to keep prisoners under surveillance that prospered as the modern mechanism of discipline, surveillance and control. This mechanism targeted to manipulate the bodies' "elements, its gestures, its behaviour", terminating an era of public punishment that directly contacted the bodies of the citizens by the sovereign power (Foucault, 1977: 200). • 12. The Concept Of Reality Television In The Truman Show And... The concept of reality TV was amplified with the film The Truman Show in 1998. On television, it is largely debated which show was the first "reality TV show" since some may class them anywhere from game shows to documentaries, such as "Survivor" or "COPS". Reality TV centers around characters who engage in current day life and situations, often true situations which are unscripted and spontaneous, captivating audiences by putting them in the shoes of cast members to see if they judge situations like viewers would. Producers of such programming often pick cast members who can target specific audiences, such as athletes, working class citizens, or members of either gender who could relate to the average viewer. In The Truman Show, we see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Socrates parable, he describes men at the base of a vertical cave who are subject to open viewership by anyone. Socrates then introduces the idea that if the men were motivated by any form of prize would they prefer to remain in the cave or "envy the men exalted to power and honor in the Cave?" essentially questioning the intent of their imprisonment. Socrates also poses the idea that if shapes and shadows were introduced, would they think of those things as reality since they don't know of reality above them? This idea is intensified in The Truman Show, as Truman is placed not in a cave, but in a massive dome which is similar to the environment on the outside, although things can be manipulated by Christof and the production crew. Instead of shadows, the world around truman is a simulation of reality which entices viewers who want to see how he acts not knowing about the illusions which surrounds his life. Socrates, who is speaking to Glaucon, asks him if the men would rather live in reality or in shadows where they are most comfortable, to which Glaucon responds with "Yes, he would prefer any fate to such a life." In The Truman Show, Truman is placed in a similar decision, where Christof attempts to convince Truman to stay by telling him how harsh the outside world is and how in his world "you have nothing to fear." • 14. Mark Andrejevic's Essay 'Visceral Literacy' 1) In the essay, Visceral Literacy, Mark Andrejevic establishes the voyeuristic facet of Reality TV amidst an age characterized by individuals having an immense, uncertainty in regards to both the creation of public representations and the advent of technologies and methods that promise behind the scene access. For instance, most Reality TV content feeds to the observer, who is recognized as the voyeur. Here, Voyeurism can be described in regards to those sources of entertainment that allow audiences to witness content while simultaneously enabling them to visualize those scenarios which they previously were incapable of doing so. For example, an integral component of voyeurism is prevalent amongst shows that allow us to behold and dwell into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The show is an American hidden camera/practical joke reality T.V. series produced and written by Allen Funt. Here, the concept of exhibitionism mentioned above aptly applies to this series. This is because the show, Candid Camera, conclusively acquaints spectators with the exhibition of domestic video recordings in a mass media TV context. Thus, by portraying exclusive representations on public screens, Allen Hunt succeeds in making the audience feel comfortable while simultaneously familiarizing them with representations of acts performed by those individuals who remained unaware that he/she was being filmed. Here, the show inevitably empowers the notion of exhibitionism. For instance, the program uses concealing cameras to shoot regular people facing uncomfortable situations, this sometimes includes the use of trick props. Here, the consciousness of long–time spectators or voyeurs is inevitably affected. This is because, hypothetically speaking, as long–time audiences watch the show's pranks, they could grow to believe that a similarly awkward or discomforting situation could befall them. Here, the voyeurs role and that of the exhibitioner has inevitably reversed. For example, audiences with such a frame of thought become increasingly mindful of their behaviors in social surroundings. Here, the individual self takes charge as the performer when one believes that he/she is under the scrutiny of others. Thus, these people that perform with their "audience" in mind are consequently conscious that another person may be monitoring the compatibility prevalent within their actions, behaviors and their individuality. Such conscious performances are not a staging done solely by the individual. Rather, it is an interplay connecting the self or person, the environment, and the audience, created to provide others with impressions of oneself. Thus, the instances mentioned above consequently prompts individuals to react ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. WorkPlay is Helping Musician's Dreams Come True In Birmingham, Alabama, a popular music venue is helping musician's dreams come true. WorkPlay sits on the corner of 5th Avenue South and 23rd Street South, and musicians from all over the world come to play on one of the two stages this venue has. However, on Monday nights at 7pm WorkPlay hosts a singer/songwriter competition in the theater. These musicians come from all over the state to play on this stage for 10 weeks. Performing on stage is a dream for many musicians around town and WorkPlay is making those dreams a reality. Last summer WorkPlay announced they would be doing a singer/songwriter night that would lead to each of the top ten musicians having a song recorded live and played on Birmingham Mountain Radio. K Pop 's Shady Business Secret Essay K–pop 's Shady Business Secret The Korean pop or K–pop industry over the last decade has experienced a major increase in popularity that has made it a billion dollar competition for foreign music industries. They are especially known for their extravagant music videos and visual aesthetics, which have attracted worldwide followings. K–pop companies are also infamous for being brutally strict on training and restrictions for their trainees and idols. They fixate on the business growth over the musical talent and content. The problem that stems from creativity and commerce overlapping in the Korean pop industry is the unethical treatment of its trainees along with the racialization and exploitation of idol groups in different global markets, due to the commanding force of the industry. The last decade has seen the rapid globalization and popularity of the korean entertainment industry worldwide, which is known as the Hallyu wave. It expanded into international markets through social media platforms such as Youtube, which served as a method of free mass distribution, securing many international fans. Having recently broken into the American and European market, K–pop exists as Korea's biggest export, the industry itself being worth $3 billion. This results in creativity being determined by how much business flows into the industry internationally. She is a phenomenal singer who won American Idol back in 2005 and has not left the top since. Although Underwood went from nobody to the top extremely quick, the media still portrays her as being level headed unlike many other celebrities. Her debut album Some Hearts was declared the best–selling album of 2006 in all genres. Underwood is the most successful of any Idol winner and is also the only country artist to have his or her first five albums all reaching first or second on the Billboard 200 chart. When she released Storyteller in 2015, I had nothing but high expectations from this magnificent vocalist. In the Storyteller album, Underwood shows her passion for her life through her songs. She does this with catchy beats and memorable lyrics that share her stories to listeners through her music and does so very successfully. The album Storyteller is performed by country artist Carrie Underwood and was released on October 23, 2015. Mark Bright, Zach Crowell, and Jay Joyce produced this album. With a sense of voyeurism millions of Americans tune into reality television every night without much thought of the negative message these show project. Since 1948 with the inception of Candid Camera viewers have been able to select between scripted television and reality television changing the nature of at home entertainment. The Millennium marked a change with the Academy of Arts and Science adding the reality genre to the Emmy Awards, celebrating ordinary people in unscripted situations. However with more and more of theses shows glamorizing negative behavior and social situations as well as taking away from scripted television and rewarding bad behavior it is no wonder the Millennial and next generations are said to be doomed. In recent years there has been an evolution in television networks that focus the majority of their programing on reality television. Bravo which is owned by NBC originally focused on performing arts and independent films shifted to a focus on pop culture, fashion and celebrities in 2003. The original content of these shows was ways to better ones self with makeovers, however the birth of the Real Housewives franchise in 2006 brought on a much more negative trend. • 26. Reality TV Is A Negative Impact On Teens Reality TV is having a negative impact on teens, exposing them unacceptable behavior at a young age. With teens being glued to the TV these days they are being shown the ugly truth of how the media portrays society. Sex, drugs and partying are just a few examples of what reality shows tend to show, as teens grow up to see this as a normal thing to do. With all the inappropriate things shown, come no repercussions. As teens grow up to see these actions they can be more prone to teen pregnancy, drug overdose, and even car accidents while being under the influence. Reality TV shows aren't always reality they sometimes act and start drama to get more views. With drama comes aggression and fights. Fights and trash talking being shown as the only way to resolve a problem, young teens grow up knowing nothing better, and mirror their actions. Bulling is also being shown in reality TV shows along with gossiping and is seen as a normal thing among teen girls. We look down on bulling and teach young children not to do it, while on the other hand it's being shown by the popular girl at school that everyone loves. When teen girls see their favorite actress talking behind others back, and lying, they still idolize them. With looks and popularity being idolized, young teens see this as being valued by your appearance and social status. Seeing reality TV stars who look near perfect give young teens false hope and belief on what they should look like. The Kardashian for instance is a big family that has their own show and seem like they have this perfect life and perfect body's looked at by young girls they seen this as how they 2 should look and be. Teens are just too young to see the truth behind the media and that not everyone can be this model like actress with the perfect body. Jason's false perception of his talent is likely partly due to the perseverance effect. The perseverance effect, also known as belief persistence, was coined by Ross, Lepper, and Hubbard in 1975. This theory describes the tendency of people to grip tightly onto their judgement on a topic despite persuasive information proving them to be wrong. When provided information that contradicts their beliefs, people tend to dismiss, reject, or discredit the evidence. Jason's audition highlights the concept of belief persistence in that Jason has convinced himself that he is so talented at singing that he could be famous for it. And, when the judges – professional musicians – reveal to him that singing is not his forté, he does not believe them. Rather, he holds so tightly onto his belief that he is such an amazing singer that he cries to Ryan Seacrest, "Singing is what I should be doing, I know it!" In deciding between these alternatives, I interviewed a few stakeholders within the call centre and media industries. The feedback was that there is minimal use of video interviewing within these industries, which suggests a blue ocean opportunity. In addition, we had a conversation with the CEO of Kira Talent. We discovered that Kira Talent had pitched to companies with huge call centre operations previously, but gained minimal traction. This was attributed to insufficient appreciation for the presentation skills of the candidates in the current recruitment process. We recommend that, Kira Talent should enter into the audition of reality TV shows, because the applicant pool is quite large and for every season, new set of candidates are interviewed. Further, this industry values camera– facing skills to improve the ratings of the show. • 59. Reality Television throughout the Years Reality television has been around for many years. In fact Alan Funt was the first to create a reality show, with his 1948 TV series Candid Camera that is often thought as reality TV's first show. In fact, he started a year earlier with Candid Microphone on the radio. Truth or Consequences started in 1950 and frequently used secret cameras. Both of these two pioneering series created artificial realties to see how normal people would respond; the reality series of today borrow a lot from these shows and differ mostly in extent and setting. A number of "who am I?" game shows accommodated the clunky nature of early TV technology by bringing real people into the studio. Like What's My Line premiered in 1950; and I've Got a Secret in 1952. These shows seem tame by today's standards, but were certainly cutting edge in the 1950s. But the term reality show was not used to describe shows until about the mid 1970's. Perhaps ahead of its time was An American Family on PBS in 1973. This show was a bit unusual at its time because of its topic it was about on a apparently regular family named the Louds, who had many secrets. This series was at first considered to be in the documentary genre but it was beyond the traditional bounds. The daily lives of the Loud family were on display. The televised decision of the parents to divorce and the on–screen coming out of their gay son shocked audiences in the 1970s. Sociologist Margaret Mead noted to TV Guide that this no longer fit the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A person with a mediocre voice that is not stunningly attractive would have a harder time advancing to Hollywood on American Idol. As the judges say, an American Idol should be a distinct person with an exceptionally fantastic voice. Culture is the training or refining of intellectual faculties and the way of life for a particular people. There are tears and screams as contestants, one by one, get through to the next round. Along the way to fame, the contestants on American Idol receive mean, nasty and often degrading criticisms from the judges. Those who are not the most attractive seep through the auditions based on fantastic singing and have a much harder time pursuing their hopefully destined career compared to a naturally attractive singer. The drama that is stirred up during the auditions and throughout the show is why people tend to watch. Image is a big factor on American Idol because whoever wins the competition receives a million dollar contract with a well–known recording producer. A record producer would not want a less than celebrity caliber person representing his or her label because image is a huge factor in our society and they know for a fact that someone not photogenic would not sell. They want someone who has some unique aspect to their appearance or personality that would attract people to buy their album. Since the recording producer works for Simon, it is partly his duty to make good decisions about who he says goodbye to, and who he puts though to the final thirty. Perhaps this is why Simon is so critical and mean to people, but that is what America loves about him. Since America loves first impressions and style, they will base their favorites on typically what they see from the show. • 65. My Experience Of Music And Music At Topeka High, there are many extracurricular activities students participate in. Activities such as sports, choir, band, debate, theater, ROTC, and many different clubs. However, vocal music is an activity that consumes every waking minute of my day. Music is something I've been doing since I was little, and I have a habit of constantly singing. I could be in the shower and you'd hear me, I could be cooking dinner, or drawing, or cleaning, and you'd hear me from outside the house. One thing I always get from my family members is that they could always hear me all the time. No matter where I was, they heard word for word. I've always been that way, I will say I am quite shy though, so occasionally if I'm in front of someone unfamiliar to me, I would sing quieter and wouldn't be as confident. I've been told that I have a lot of potential. My dad's always telling me he wants me to go on American Idol, or X–factor, or some sort of music audition thing. He and my mom have always been teaching me to do more and to get out and be more confident. Sometimes it's kind of annoying but I appreciate it because it's made me into the artist I am today. Since I was little I've been pushed to do more, to be more, to want to be more, and to be treated like I'm more. I think what brought me to music was my family. We're pretty much all singers. My sisters and I would constantly be singing 24/7 and you'd hear it all through the house. My parents would sometimes be like "shut up" if we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If I wanted a picture I'd buy a painting." The second part is where the fun part actually starts, you're going to add one or two heaping spoonfuls of regular white frosting to the crumbled up cake you have. Keep adding frosting until you get the consistency pretty doughy, but still firm enough to handle. After kneeding the dough thoroughly you're going to want to roll the dough out inch size balls. A normal box of cake mix should make about 20 cake pops. After all the balls are rolled out, they should go in the fridge or freezer for about a half an hour to help them set. After those agonizing thirty minutes are up, you're able to take the cake pops out of the refrigerator or freezer, and then melt some almond bark. After dipping the stick in the almond bark, you're going to want to stick it about halfway through the now official "cake pop". The chocolate on the stick is to help the stick stay sturdy while you actually eat the sweet treat. When you've finished putting the sticks into each of the cake balls, you should put them back into the refrigerator in order to help the chocolate solidify. Transition: The last part we're going to focus on is probably the most simple. Decorating the cake pop. Using the previously melted almond bark, you can simply dip the cake pop in and spread a thin layer of chocolate all around the pop. While the chocolate is still wet, feel free to decorate in any way you'd like. For today I just used simple sprinkles but there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. Choosing Reality What we as a society watch on television really depends on the choices we make. George F. Will writes in his article "Reality Television: Oxymoron" of an increasingly infantilized society, whose moral philosophy is reducible to the celebration of "choice", where adults are decreasingly distinguishable from children in their absorption in entertainments. This is a society in which "choice" exceeds all others and competition improves things. This society is built upon choice in every aspect of life and choice determines the way of life. For what they are watching is a representation of their choice. I do agree with George Will that reality television is becoming much more violent and sexual but what it really comes down to is the viewer's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His analogies help to paint a picture and visualize what his argument is about. You are able to feel a good amount of poise or confidence in his writing. Will uses examples and mentions programs like Fear Factor, MTV's Jackass, and even the NFL to relate his argument to something that we as the readers are somewhat familiar with. In Dana Steven's article "Thinking Outside the Idiot Box" she writes, "shouldn't grown men and women be trusted to judge their own dosages, just as they would decide on the number of drinks they can handle at the bar? And shouldn't we choose our favorite shows because we like them, not because they force our otherwise helpless cortexes to 'manag[e] resources' and 'recognize long–term patterns'?" (Stevens 234). Of course, because whether our society feels reality television will make us smarter or not, it really doesn't make a difference. We have a freedom of choice and if reality TV is what people like to watch then who will stop them. Men and women should and do have a choice to decide what they really want to watch and this is why television has become more explicit. We as a society are deciding what is acceptable to be shown on television and TV is a reflection of what the world is really like. If no one watched this so called, "perversity programming" then the ratings would rapidly decline and it would cease to exist and yet it is still being shown like never before.
