WORLD
world
Giant was founded in 1972 with a mission to create better bikes and
improve the cycling experience. From the very start, innovation
and manufacturing expertise set us apart.
It began with our lightweight chromoly frames. Giant's ability to produce
high-quality bikes at an affordable price allowed more riders to experience
cycling in a whole new way. Since then, Giant has pioneered advancements
in both aluminum and composite engineering. We introduced the first
affordable carbon fiber bike, the Cadex 980 C, and revolutionized high-
performance road bikes with our Compact Road Design. In mountain
biking, Giant's Maestro Suspension established a new level of
performance for off-road riding and racing.
Over the last four decades, Giant has grown well beyond its manufacturing
roots to become the world's leading brand of quality bicycles and gear.
With more than 12,000 retail partners worldwide, we aim to inspire
adventure in all riders, from casual to competitive.
Giant bikes win world championships. They win design awards too.
But most importantly, they win the hearts of riders who choose to make
cycling a part of their lives. We support that choice. We think it makes
the world a better place.
Giant aims to be a trusted friend on every road, path and trail that unfolds
before you. We're proud to be part of your cycling adventures.
RIDE LIFE. RIDE GIANT.
RIDE LIFE. RIDE GIANT.

ABOUT GIANT | Forty Years of Innovation
TECHNOLOGY
8. Craftsmanship
From day one, Giant founder King Liu believed that lighter, faster, more durable bikes
could make cycling more fun and more accessible to more people. So Giant set out
to change the way bikes were made. The first decade was spent refining the building
processes.
Progress happened quickly. Lessons learned in those early years gave Giant its edge.
Unlike most other brands, we produced our own frame materials, investing in the ability
to forge and shape tubing to meet specific performance demands.
A constant hunger for progress created a culture of craftsmanship. Every bike that went
out the door required dozens of experienced hands to bring it to life. Giant’s advantage
became expertise.
Even as the company pushed into uncharted waters—stronger and lighter materials,
more efficient production, improved quality control—reliability remained a hallmark of the
brand. Riders could trust Giant.
Innovation
In 1981 Giant became the first major brand to mass-produce lightweight aluminum
frames. Suddenly, more people around the world could experience a ride quality that was
previously limited to expensive high-end bikes. Through technology and innovation, we
were advancing the bikes people rode, and the way they rode them.
In 1987 Giant followed a similar route with carbon fiber. The Cadex 980 C, constructed with
carbon-fiber frame tubes and aluminum lugs, was regarded as the world’s first affordable
carbon-fiber road bike. From there, the list of innovations continued.
All Giant technologies are born from collaborations between athletes, engineers and a
global team of product developers. The insights and demands of cutting-edge world
champions, riders who push the limits of man and machine, benefit us all. Technologies
such as lightweight composites, advanced suspension systems and integrated
components trickle down, sparking innovations in competition, sport and lifestyle bikes
of all types.
Inspiration
The most defining development at Giant over the past decade has been a newfound
dedication to promoting the cycling lifestyle. From our world headquarters in Taiwan
to our sales companies around the world, all the people who make Giant what it is—
employees, retail partners, athletes, fans—are empowered through various programs to be
ambassadors of the sport.
It starts at the top. King Liu (left) rediscovered the joy of the cycling life in his 70s, and now
spends much of his time touring various nations by bike to promote cycling. His long,
sometimes arduous journeys spur motivation within the Giant family, and his travels spark
dialogue on the positive virtues of the cycling lifestyle.
Our team and athlete partnerships strengthen our connection to the sport. At the
Olympics, the Tour de France and other major events around the world, athletes rely on
Giant to give them a winning edge.
In return, we are awed by their incredible feats. When Rabobank road rider Robert Gesink
wins a dramatic mountain stage, or when Giant Factory Off-Road Team downhiller Danny
Hart rockets down a trail to win a world championship, millions around the world are
inspired to ride.

COMPOSITES
With more than 25 years’ experience in carbon fiber engineering, plus a long history of rigorous testing
and development with its professional athletes, Giant leads the way in composite bicycle technology.
To meet the needs of performance riders—from professionals to enthusiasts—Giant offers three grades
of composite technology.

Advanced SL Composite Technology
Professional-grade frame technology used by
Giant’s world champion racers. These frames are
handcrafted with the most advanced materials,
engineering and construction methods.
1. T-800 Carbon Fiber: This highest grade raw
3 carbon fiber is used to create a proprietary
composite frame material that is woven and
processed in Giant’s own composite factory.
2 2. Fusion Process: Advanced SL toptubes are
“grafted” to the seattube using filament winding
and co-molding. This complex process involves
hand weaving the two tubes together, then
1 4
re-molding the area under heat and high
pressure to unify the junction—resulting in a
lighter, stronger junction than with traditional
molding.
3. CNT Technology: Carbon Nanotube
Technology refers to a microscopic polymer
added to Giant’s custom-blended resin*.
Acting like miniature buttresses, CNT particles
strengthen the layers of composite. Frames
featuring CNT are 14 percent more impact-
resistant than those without it.
4. Continuous Fiber Technology:
This manufacturing process allows Giant to
construct the front triangle of Advanced SL
bicycles* with larger, and therefore fewer,
sections of composite material. With fewer
pieces and junctions, the frames are up to
100 grams lighter and significantly stronger.
*Found on select 2013 framesets
10. Advanced Composite Technology
High-performance frame technology used to
handcraft extremely lightweight, stiff and compliant
frames.
1 1. T-700 Carbon Fiber: High-performance raw
carbon fiber is used to create this custom
composite frame material that is woven and
processed in Giant’s own composite factory.
2. Modified Monocoque Construction: The
front triangle (downtube, headtube, toptube,
seattube) is assembled and molded as one
2 continuous piece. This front half is then joined to
the rear chainstays and seatstays in a secondary
process. Modified Monocoque Construction
eliminates the outermost woven composite
sheet to reduce weight without affecting ride
quality, strength or stiffness.

MAESTRO
SUSPENSION
TECHNOLOGY
From Gravity off-road riding to XC/Race there’s a Giant Maestro
Suspension bike to suit every riding style. The standard-setter
for modern bicycle suspension, Maestro is the full-suspension
platform used on every Giant performance mountain bike.
Ranging from 4 to 8 inches of travel, Maestro improves the
ride on any type of trail.
14. 1
Three core benefits set Maestro Suspension
Technology apart from the rest:
2
PEDALING EFFICIENCY:
W
hether you’re sprinting up a climb or coasting through a rock garden,
Maestro Suspension performs consistently under pedaling power and
doesn’t compromise efficiency.
COMPLETE SUSPENSION ACTIVITY:
F
rom high-frequency trail vibrations to heavy-hitting compressions, Maestro
Suspension soaks up the full spectrum of trail impacts.
TOTAL BRAKE INDEPENDENCE:
Even under full braking force, Maestro Suspension remains fully active and
reactive.
how it works
1 CONTACT EQUALS CONTROL
Features: Maestro’s linear spring curve allows the rear suspension to feel incredibly sensitive to
small bump forces. The floating pivot point keeps the suspension completely active while braking
and the rear tire in contact with the ground.
Benefit: Better tire contact with the ground improves your control. And the more sensitive your
suspension is, the better your acceleration, braking and cornering traction.
2 FOUR, TWO, ONE
Features: Maestro utilizes four strategically positioned pivot points (identified as the four red dots)
and two linkages that all work to create a single floating pivot point (identified as the red circle).
Benefit: This single floating pivot point improves pedaling efficiency by counteracting pedaling
forces that would otherwise create suspension compression (squatting) or pedal kickback
(bobbing). Both seriously hinder performance by sapping energy from you and your bike.
3 3 LIGHT AND STRONG
Features: Maestro-equipped frames feature lightweight co-pivot designs to shed hundreds of
grams of unnecessary weight without sacrificing stiffness or strength.
Benefit: Lighter is faster—up or down the trail.

TAKE THE
WORLD BY
STORM
It wasn’t just the fact that he won the downhill world
championship. It was how he did it. At age 20, just two years
out of the junior ranks, Danny Hart of the Giant Factory
Off-Road Team went to the 2011 Worlds in Champéry,
Switzerland, as an outside contender for a medal. He had
shown flashes of brilliance throughout the year and had
established himself as one to watch.
On race day in Switzerland, a heavy rainstorm engulfed the
mountain. “I saw a river running down the track,” Danny said.
“But I come from England, and it rains every weekend.”
What came next is hard to describe. Fans had witnessed
Danny’s electrifying style, fast and loose, all year long, but this
was something no one had seen. He carved through corners
as if they were dry. Hammered the straights, sailed through
treacherous rock gardens, floated over slimy roots. He was
so far ahead of the nearest competitor, he threw a big whip on
the last jump.
The announcers went crazy. In the coming days and weeks,
over a million YouTube viewers watched the winning run.
So what next? Danny went back home to Redcar, England.
He trained even harder for the upcoming season. He worked
with Giant and his team mechanics to make his bike even
faster. And he got used to the feeling of wearing that rainbow-
striped jersey.
That’s how you take the world by storm.

COMPACT ROAD DESIGN
At the heart of every Giant performance road bike is a unique frame design that was originally created to give pro
road racers an advantage at major events like the Tour de France. Compact Road Design, introduced in 1997, has
stood the test of time, winning countless pro races over the past 15 years and setting the performance benchmark
for road riders of all levels.
The concept is simple: A toptube that slopes downward from the headtube to the seattube reduces the size of the
front and rear triangles.
Here’s how the design benefits all road riders:
SMOOTHER
LIGHTER With traditional geometry, builders increase stiffness by using
