My Reflective Essay
I wanted to improve my writing skills, make my writing pieces stronger, learn how to keep
readers engaged in my writing pieces, and work on my MLA formatting coming into the class.
When I took English 113, I discovered that MLA formatting was something that I needed to work
on. There were certain elements of MLA formatting that I would forget to incorporate into my
papers such as putting my last name in the right hand corner of my paper, not double spacing my
header, and remembering to not underline nor bold the title of my papers. Now that the semester
is over, I know a lot more than I did coming into this class and feel like my expectations were
exceeded. I learned not only how to implement writing techniques to keep readers engaged in my
writing pieces, but also how to avoid repetition and vague pronoun reference throughout my writing
pieces. You can notice the progression of my writing by comparing my Reflection 12 assignment to
my Reflection 16 assignment. There are fused sentences in my Reflection 12 assignment. "She
provides evidence such as research results from...show more content...
You can find comma splices and passive voice in my Reflection 6 assignment. An example of
comma splices and awkward wordings in Reflection 6 is when I say, "God created us for others so
that together we can reflect the unity and diversity that's within God, we can take gratification in
the gifts, knowledge, and understanding of the people surrounding us." I should have said, "God
created us for others so that together we can reflect the unity and diversity that's within God. God
wants us to take gratification in the gifts, knowledge, and understanding of the people surrounding
us." The sentences are now easier to interpret since I took away the comma splices as well as the
awkward

What Is My Best Class Essay
When I first came into this class the first thing we did was a writing assignment. We had to write
down 5 problems that I personally had with writing and to expand on these problems. I wrote: I
always seem to take too much time to think about what I'm going to write then I actually do writing,
I tend to make mistake when re–reading something, I lose my train of thought easily, English has
never been my best class, and I'm a slow writing. Throughout this semester in English Composition
102 I feel like this class has really helped me improve on all 5 of these problems and then some. This
class has really improved my writing style and structure to a point where others can see a real
difference in my writing then before, even though that wasn't...show more content...

My Identity Essays
Over the course of my life I have had many life experiences which have made me who I am today.
When I was in my middle childhood, most of my life revolved around playing and having fun. I
did not have to put forth effort in hardly any area of my life or work hard in order to achieve
specific goals. As time went on however, my own life experiences began to have an effect on me,
and shape the person I am today. My life started to change the most during middle childhood when
I was around the age of seven years old. At this point in my life, I had to adjust to several big
changes. Our family was moving from our old house in the county into a new house in the city. We
had to do this, because my mom had just given birth to my younger...show more content...
As I went through elementary school I was not treated kindly by a large majority of my class. I
was often the one singled out by others and excluded from activities. I am sure this has had an
effect on my personality. Although I feel Erikson's psychosocial theory is correct, I believe it can be
changed over time. At a young age, life experiences can play a large role in the shaping of a person's
self–confidence and self–esteem. Even though an individual's past might not have been pleasant, as
they get older they are able to gain awareness of past events and decide which ones will continue
to have an effect on their lives (University of Illinois, 2013). The only year in elementary school I
enjoyed was fifth grade. This school year was full of encouragement and kindness from my
teachers. Their constant motivation and kind words gave me the confidence to improve my grades
in school and interact more with my classmates. After fifth grade, my entire class and I left our old
school, and relocated to the middle school. This change was not the easiest for me either. While
elementary school was a tame and controlled environment, middle school gave students more
freedom and was less strict on students. During middle school it was difficult for me to find a social
reference group to associate myself

Essay My Thoughts on Writing
My Thoughts on Writing
The only thing I care about; the only thing I hope to get from this course, is some improvement in
my ability to write what I think –– explain ideas and feelings to other people. I don't give a damn
about anything else, and so far I haven't been disappointed. At the beginning of the course I was
informed that we were going to be discussing exposition, which isn't so much a kind of writing as a
purpose or attitude behind it. This purpose is to explore, unfold, or develop an idea or issue. And the
sense I've gotten from our discussion is that the attitude is one of intellectual honesty, of dedication
to learning something and reporting what's there , instead of protecting preconceived notions or
projecting agendas...show more content...
A friend of mine has already graduated from a university, and she recently went through a whole
crate of papers she wrote in the process. She told me she couldn't remember what many of them
were about; couldn't even remember writing most of them. We've talked about "themewriting"as
something written for and from a closed environment: a mini–universe apart from everyday life, with
its own abbreviated rules, in which oversimplification is acceptable. When I consider the sheer
tonnage of the stuff that's written every midquarter and finals week around here, it sure seems that
most of it is intended to, deserves to, and does head right for the wastebasket immediately when it's
of no further use in that universe: after it's recorded in the grade book. "Commitment" is a term
applied to solid exposition, and themewriting frequently lacks it.
Does anyone like to do this –– does it provide a warm, human, joyous feeling of having made
contact and saying something Important? Or do we just get comfortable doing it? Like being an
accountant: is there a real sense of joy to be found in adding up columns of figures? There may be
some people who would tell me "sure, it's fun," but I think actually they're just feeling safe in a sort
of half–sleep state which isn't exactly happy and may in fact be miserable, but at least is stable.
There may be a different kind of warmth, reserved for "a job well done," and "I might get a
promotion," and most especially: "I feel good

The Value Of My Writing
Writing is a skill that is used on a daily basis in different mediums: emails, texts, academic papers,
and social media platforms. While some mediums are more formal than others, writing in a proper
way is still critical. For some, writing is second nature while others face difficulties constructing the
perfect message. Growing up, the concept of writing was much more enjoyable than physically
putting pen to paper. I found value in the idea of being able to express myself through my writing,
yet when it came to academic papers, I froze. This was due to the fact that my writing was being
judged, and that elicited fear which, in turn, made me second guess my writing abilities. While
attending community college, I was required to take an

My Writing As A Career
Writing is not a profession for me, it's more like a path to reach Zen. I'm a budding creative writer
who focusses on coming up with meaningful contents which can help my readers in some way or
the other. So, needless to say, I don't do crappy jobs at all.
I am an avid reader and like to see the historical side of stories to have an understanding of the
vastness of wisdom, so that some day, my wisdom could be reflected through the pages of my writing
.
See how dreamy my writing looks ? Don't worry , tell me who your target audience are and I can
tailor the story accordingly. But at least when we talk, lets keep the dreamy side up and create
something meaningful and beautiful.

My Goals For Future Writing
One goal that I want to achieve in my future writing is, to be able to write a developed essay with
clear research to back up my thesis statement in around an hour and a half. My essay will be
developed by having a clear analysis of addressing the topic and communicating the central message
and theme that I want to portray. I want to at least finish a piece of writing; specifically an essay, in
about an estimate of an hour and a half so that it improves my writing pace with still maintaining
on topic. My second goal that I want to achieve in my future writing is, to be able to persuade my
audience using pathos, logos, and ethos in any writing pieces that require persuasion; specifically in
speeches. I want to be able to persuade an audience

My Writing Habits
Writing Habits As English is my second language, I have always found it very difficult to express
myself on paper. Writing habits that work best for me is to sit down in a quiet room with paper
and pen. Brainstorming would be my first choice; I think about everything that comes to mind in
regard to a specific subject and jot it down. In addition, I do internet research on topics that are
unknown, so I combine the things that I know with my research. Next, I begin my first draft;
usually it takes a few times to rewrite until it sounds good. In addition, I think about my audience,
my word choice and I also like to use the 5 W's to keep me on track of my writing. Writing takes
time for me so I always want to make sure when I start I complete

My Future Essay
My future is something I often think about. Most often, the questions that arise include the
common doubts of "Am I doing this right?", or even the occasional midnight philosophical
questions such as "Why are we here?", and so on. For the purpose of this essay, I will focus on the
factors that have allowed me to reach this point in my life and how these factors influenced and
continue to influence me, in order to provide me with a visualization of my future.
Factors that contributed to my current life choices include the desperate want to be something
greater, as well as to experience the world in ways some could only dream of. I study hard,
allowing for me to have the possibility of an early graduation. I dream big, allowing me with the
imagination to draw up plans for myself and my future. I work hard, allowing me the strength and
vision to execute my plans for the future. The way that I was raised has greatly benefited me. My
parents have taught me that anything and everything is possible as long as you work hard for it
despite the what others may tell you or even if the odds are against you. Another factor that led to
my current life, is the amount of time I allow myself to think about my plans and refine them. This is
extremely important because, without a solid, flexible, long–term plan, you could get lost in
dreaming about the future, and end up not accomplishing anything. Hence, many aspects of my life
have been planned out with not one or two possible alternatives

My Love For English
For a long time, one thing had always been the same: my love for English. It had always been a
flame burning within me, something that could never be completely distinguished. I've had my
share of both good and bad English teachers, from both I have gained important
To my seventh grade English teacher:
Thank you. At the time, I despised all the activities you made my class do. I despised the months
we spent going over commas. I despised the books we were forced to read. Little did I know how
many of these thing would be used in the future.
I am now an expert in the usage of the comma. Those months spent doing comma practices at the
start of the class finally paid off. I appreciate Shakespeare in a way I would never have if it wasn't
for you. I remember struggling through A Midsummer Night's Dream as the thought of giving up
swam through my head. At the end of the book, you had us divide into groups and act out scenes.
Surprisingly, I had a great deal of fun. Everyone went full out with costumes and props. I also
understand symbolism and have learned how to persevere through particularly mundane books.
We read Animal Farm in that class. The fact that a story about farm animals could stand for real
life effects blew my mind. Additionally, for every paper of mine you 'lost' and that I would later find
right where it was supposed to be, I learned to be more assertive.
My love for English stopped twirling in the breeze and, for the first time, began to flicker.

  • 9. My Writing Habits Writing Habits As English is my second language, I have always found it very difficult to express myself on paper. Writing habits that work best for me is to sit down in a quiet room with paper and pen. Brainstorming would be my first choice; I think about everything that comes to mind in regard to a specific subject and jot it down. In addition, I do internet research on topics that are unknown, so I combine the things that I know with my research. Next, I begin my first draft; usually it takes a few times to rewrite until it sounds good. • 10. My Future Essay My future is something I often think about. Most often, the questions that arise include the common doubts of "Am I doing this right?", or even the occasional midnight philosophical questions such as "Why are we here?", and so on. For the purpose of this essay, I will focus on the factors that have allowed me to reach this point in my life and how these factors influenced and continue to influence me, in order to provide me with a visualization of my future. Factors that contributed to my current life choices include the desperate want to be something greater, as well as to experience the world in ways some could only dream of. I study hard, allowing for me to have the possibility of an early graduation. I dream big, allowing me with the imagination to draw up plans for myself and my future. I work hard, allowing me the strength and vision to execute my plans for the future. The way that I was raised has greatly benefited me. My parents have taught me that anything and everything is possible as long as you work hard for it despite the what others may tell you or even if the odds are against you. Another factor that led to my current life, is the amount of time I allow myself to think about my plans and refine them. This is extremely important because, without a solid, flexible, long–term plan, you could get lost in dreaming about the future, and end up not accomplishing anything. Hence, many aspects of my life have been planned out with not one or two possible alternatives Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. My Love For English For a long time, one thing had always been the same: my love for English. It had always been a flame burning within me, something that could never be completely distinguished. I've had my share of both good and bad English teachers, from both I have gained important To my seventh grade English teacher: Thank you. At the time, I despised all the activities you made my class do. I despised the months we spent going over commas. I despised the books we were forced to read. Little did I know how many of these thing would be used in the future. I am now an expert in the usage of the comma. Those months spent doing comma practices at the start of the class finally paid off. I appreciate Shakespeare in a way I would never have if it wasn't for you. I remember struggling through A Midsummer Night's Dream as the thought of giving up swam through my head. At the end of the book, you had us divide into groups and act out scenes. Surprisingly, I had a great deal of fun. Everyone went full out with costumes and props. I also understand symbolism and have learned how to persevere through particularly mundane books. We read Animal Farm in that class. The fact that a story about farm animals could stand for real life effects blew my mind. Additionally, for every paper of mine you 'lost' and that I would later find right where it was supposed to be, I learned to be more assertive. My love for English stopped twirling in the breeze and, for the first time, began to flicker. To my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
