If you were asked to donate some of your own items or money to help fight poverty, would you do it? A substantial amount of the world's
population suffers from some sort of poverty, whether it be monetary poverty, or food poverty. Poverty has become such a prevalent issue
throughout history, that it isn't put into consideration as much as it should be. Poverty is a serious world problem, and truly needs to be stopped.
With the help of citizens of the world, and different groups, and charities, the percentage of poverty stricken people around the world could be
greatly shrunk.
Above all, poverty has countless effects on people, society, governments, etc. One of the multitude of effects, mainly caused by food poverty, is
malnutrition. Some families who suffer from poverty can't afford to buy food, or buy healthy foods. "The figures on 'food poverty ' are closer to
reality than the monetary poverty statistics," says Ivan Hidalgo. Hidalgo stated that the food poverty statistics are more at large than the monetary
poverty. Malnutrition can also lead to health issues such as diseases, while most families cannot afford hospital care. Poverty also causes problem
in education and societies. A manifold of people struggling with poverty are not able to attend school, which will affect them for the rest of their

Poverty has always been a key factor in United States History. Ever sense Americas birth there have been groups affected by poverty, but the forms

The history of social work demonstrates how statutory and voluntary agencies adapted to the changing social conditions and increasing societal
problems as a result of influence of industrialization and urbanization (Red). Social and economic changes such as the Black Death that severed the
British populations, the closure of common land for self–profit in the 1530s, and unrest and riots during the 1700s left many people in need alone
and without care from their families (lecture). Industrialization and urbanization created a widespread movement toward cities, separation over

mentally ill; the 'able–bodied poor', those who could work but didn't; and the 'able–bodied poor' who absconded or refused work (red). The
'impotent poor' were housed in voluntary institutions under the care of parishes and churches whereas the 'able–bodied poor' were sent to statutory
workhouses or 'house of correction' punishment facilities (red). The Poor Law Act of 1601 sought to make a distinction between individuals who
were poor by no fault of their own and individuals who were to blame for there poverty, and thus putting them in the care of either the state or

knowledge and character; however, this is not the case. Rutger Bregman, a historian and author of Utopia for Realists, explains that "poverty isn't a
lack of character; it's a lack of cash" (Bregman). Bregman provides a solid argument even though he never provides an emotional overview of the

The community as well as the city likes to blame the poverty on the immigrants and refugees, when they don't even attempt to look at themselves.
If people want change they must first change themselves. What I learned from my interview was that there is hope for the community and that we
just need a leader to show us how to tackle poverty. After listening to the social administrator answer my questions, I believe that people want to
fix the economic situation of the city, but most people don't know where to start. I have always heard that everyone once to do something but

According to Matthew Desmond's Evicted, many different families struggle escaping from poverty and finding a stable home. Some of these
families become unemployed and are left without sufficient income to pay for rent. A good example from Evicted is Lamar, a Navy veteran who
