factory when she accompanied Chinese police officers during a raid. When they arrived inside the
factory they saw a dozen children ages eight to twelve working and sewing in the factory. She used
this personal experience to appeal to the audience's emotions. Despite her first hand account she did
not solely use her own experience and perspective. Instead she included a small paragraph to prove
her point and provided multiple pieces of evidence to back her point up. Another first hand evidence

The Different Styles Of Parenting Essay
The two different styles of parenting that are described in the book are concerted cultivation and
natural growth. Concerted cultivation is typically seen in the middle class families. Whereas natural
growth is mainly seen in the working class families. The book defines concerted cultivation as
having "Organized activities, established and controlled by mothers and fathers..." (Lareau, 2011,
p.1). And it defines natural growth as having "children experience long stretches of leisure time,
child–initiated play, clear boundaries between adults and children, and daily interactions with the
kin." (Lareau, 2011, p.3). Essentially in concerted cultivation parents are focused in exposing their
children in activities that will implement skills that they can use later in life. Some of the skills will
be mentioned in the next paragraph. As for the natural growth approach, it is more concerned in
letting the child acquire the necessary skills on their own. This parenting style views that the parents
do not really impact the skills that the child learns. An example would be thinking that the child's
organized activity helps the child have something to do for a certain amount of time. They do not
view the child's activities as helping them acquire skills that will help them into adulthood.

The air was crisp outside, it was nearing Christmas in our small little city named Belleville.
Everyone seemed to be out and about finishing their last–minute Christmas shopping and the city
had a busy, but happy feel to it. The ground had a white blanket of snow on it that had just fallen
during the early hours of the morning. My mom was taking me to the mall so that I could get
pictures taken with Santa, one of my favourite parts about Christmas. As I was sitting in my car seat
all bundled up in my snow suit, clutching my favourite stuffed bunny all I was fixated on was what
to ask Santa for Christmas. I was 7–years–old with big brown eyes that glared out the window with
the unruliest hair you could ever imagine. As we stopped at our final red light before our destination,
we both witnessed an extremely bad car wreck. It was one of those car wrecks that seem to happen
in slow motion, so slow that you can almost scream "Watch out!". All of a sudden, the women that I
viewed as my ordinary suburban mom dashed out of our warm van to face the crisp, windy weather.

Pain is a funny thing. Sometimes it strikes suddenly, a lightning strike in a quiet blue sky. It tears
through you and for a few seconds you cannot breathe; cannot think. This was different. This pain
was patient and slow. It crept up on me; starting as just an annoying dull ache in my hip. Gradually
growing confidence, steadily growing until the roar of the pain became so loud, I could not focus on
anything else. But I was stubborn. I told myself I could push through it; that I had to push through it.
Nationals were only two weeks away. I could not afford to lose any time...
I was torn. On one hand, I had hope that maybe if I saw a doctor, they could fix it and ease the pain.
On the other, I was scared. The risk that they would pull me out of dance and not let me compete at
nationals seemed to outweigh the benefits. It was my dance teacher that finally convinced me to see

critics when it comes to parenting. Whether it is the in–laws, your own parents, or your friends and
family. Most people are under the impression that because they have managed to keep some human
beings alive, they have this whole parenting concept on lock. Phillip Larkin's poem "This Be The
Verse," challenges this perspective by hypothesizing that children's poor behavior and psychological
issues are all direct results of the way their parents raised them. Larkin blames his parents for

excitement, Sylvia Plath's poem connects my personal experiences and those depicted within a
classic fairytale, I loved all my life and enjoyed hearing my parents read day after day. Having had
many relationships begin with an unforgettable moment, blossom through school dances and dates
with friends, and end instantaneously, I relate with how the prince feels. I too have leaned forward
and kissed a date, whirled around the dance floor envisioning combined futures, and then
experienced pain as my date rapidly disappears from my life. Plath's Cinderella adaptation focuses
on the moment Prince Charming and Cinderella dance right before they separate, symbolically
representing my experiences and inspiring my poetry choice. During scenery description, Path
brings a haunting excitement and motion within the room and readers together. Plath brings forth
memories covering past and current loves. While reading this poem, I utilized underscoring, voice
tone changes, and varying length pauses, capturing the constant movement and the progressively

Being a child of a helicopter parent, I don't believe that having a helicopter parent made me
dependent on my mom, if anything I've distanced myself so that I can have more independence. My
mom means well she just wants to protect my sisters and I, but how does she expect us to learn if we
