Section 9: Auditing Cash and Revenues often simply focus on confirming the accuracy of
numbers and often do not catch bigger–picture issues relating to evidence quality. These issues are
included to help students realize the need for professional skepticism when obtaining and evaluating
evidence and help them pay attention to more than just the numbers. To help the instructor make a
vivid and lasting impression about evidence quality, a copy of the fraudulent faxed confirmation
form used by Parmalat is included in these notes so the instructor can make an overhead to use in
class. The actual forged Parmalat fax can be used to create a vivid learning experience for students.
USE OF CASE
This case gives students real–world experience doing a task they will probably perform soon after
graduation and simulates a situation similar to the Parmalat fraud by including a questionable faxed
confirmation form. Students should become familiar with the documents used to audit cash accounts
and learn how to properly document work using tick marks. The case is intended to go

Main Gate Receptionist: Park Greeter
Everyone has skills that they inherent. Each person has different skills from their personality. For
me, I have the knack for talking to large groups of people who are perfect for my role, Main Gate
Receptionist – Park Greeter. Before working at Disney, I was a teacher assistant my senior year at
my high school, Northwest Christian High School in Phoenix, Arizona. I have not only graded
student papers, ran errands for the teacher, organized teaching files, and took inventory of books and
other educational tools, I also direct the class until the teacher got to the classroom. Each class was
around twenty to fifty students depending on the day and class. During that period, I would make
sure roll call was done, students turned in their assignments ... Show more content on

At the time, my school Grand Canyon University opened the first burger joint, Habit Burger. Again,
it was a new restaurant, but this time the management was from the school. When I was there I did
cash handling and operation of the cash register, served food to customers, stocked all items and
took inventory, helped prepare food, and bussing and cleaned all tables. But it was not like that at
first. You would think that it would be running smoothly, but wrong. Grand Canyon University was
hiring new managers and students who did not know how to work cash registers or let alone
machines. We all trained ourselves to work the machines and everything. I was one of the few who
could learn quickly and tried to teach the other students. After a couple of months of disorganized
chaos, I talked with my boss to see if there was anything to help, but he said I could not do anything.
I started to tell the other students what needed to be done. We all would clock in and I would tell
someone to do dining, two to count in and do cash register, one person does to shakes, two to do
prep work, and two to serving. After that, we all caught on what needed to be done. I also suggested
having shift leaders during each shift to help order what needs to get done. They liked that idea and
started hiring and recruiting those to be shift leaders. I was not one and did not want to be one
because it became stressful overtime. I only did so if the shift leader was gone. After all that, Habit
was finally running smoothly and became the popular place to hang out in my

Burkland Pool Case Study
Burkland Pool Summer 2016
*Disclaimer: All financial information is from the records kept at Burkland Pool and submitted to
the school district office. There may be slight discrepancies between the recorded amounts and the
actual deposit amounts.
Pricing Changes implemented in 2016 o Reduced cost of family season passes, punch cards and
admission for adult to open swim
 Overall revenue from open swim, punch cards and season passes was only ~$420 less than 2015
despite lower prices, eliminating Saturday open swims, and poor weather at the start of the summer.
o Increased price of group swim lessons, private lessons, and semi–private lessons
 Taught roughly the same number of group lessons as 2015 and taught almost twice as many

Not sure what model of iPad the pool uses, but here is a link to a general idea of what we were
thinking of: https://squareup.com/shop/salon–spa–ipad o Host a Red Cross Lifeguarding class at the
pool
 Have a manager or lead lifeguard take a lifeguard instructor class prior to the summer (offered at
Kroc Center and other pools for around $200)
 This would simplify the process of recertifying lifeguards, and hosting a class would allow the
managers to see the lifeguarding skills of potential employees before they are hired o Shop Vacuum

My Experience : My First Day In High School
When I thought about getting my first job I imagined that it would be exciting; I would meet all
these new people and make all these new friends. It reminded me of how I felt on my first day of
high school. I was anxious but excited that I even daydreamed of what it was going to be like. I
decided to reinvent myself and my look, which is something that I would always do on my first day
back to school. Most times I would change my hair and other times I would change my handwriting.
It felt like a new beginning and I wanted to present a new me to the world. But as usual reality
rarely ever meets expectation, not everyone is enthusiastic about work and some people just don't
know how to be professional.
I was 18 years old at the time, living in Jamaica and attending Colbourne College. Normally, I
would participate in volunteer service programs during the summer with the National Youth Service;
but, in 2010 I decided to get a part–time job at Mega Mart, one of the largest supermarket chains in
the Jamaica. My first day started on a Saturday morning. I met two of my supervisors Carlene and
Jacky; and also three coworkers Sean, Stacy, and Christina. Carlene was the person responsible for
training me and it went so well that by the next day I was already doing things on my own. Carlene
was pleased that I was catching on really fast. On a typical work day, I would restock shelves, assist
customers with finding products and once in a while I would be on the cash register. Most of my

Slang And Its Effect On Everyday Life Essay
The use of slang in my life today is very evident. My roommates and I always talk slang during the
day and the night. I don't use slang very much in text messages or emails partly because I don't feel
the need and I am normally emailing professors and staff members who expect me to respect them
by writing with proper English. Most of the time my roommates and I use slang when we are just
messing or playing around. Therefore, the use of slang in my classroom will be mainly for
educational purposes and limited because of the focus on standard English and the negative view it
may put upon the child. There is no doubt that people use slang almost every day. These people
might be just using it for fun and mocking others, while some may use it to protest the use of
standard English. The book, How English Works, by Curzan and Adams talks about how slang is
used in everyday life and thrives in places that involve pop–music, athletics, narcotics, and other
various factors (Curzan and Adams, 2012). I feel that Curzan and Adams are right on point when
they say slang thrives on these main ideas. For example, my roommates listen to music that has
slang involved in it. My roommates and I normally sing to some of the songs while they are playing
or even after they are done playing and use slang without consciously knowing because it is in a
song. Normally these songs get stuck in our heads and we end up singing the lyrics out loud using
slang almost every day. Most of the songs that we

Internal Controls Relating to the Bjb Company Essay
All publicly trader companies in the USA are required to maintain and have an up to date system of
internal controls. Since the LJB Company is wishing to become a public entity, I am glad to be able
to assist in this action. First, the rules and regulations must be reviewed and compared to the
company and how it can become public. To make the company attractive to buyers, investors, and
other capital sources, it is crucial that the corporate organization and governance are well
manifested. Corporate executives and the board of directors within a corporation must ensure that
these internal controls are effective. The reliability and efficiency of the internal controls must be
directed and supervised by the board of directors and corporate ... Show more content on

One example is fraud. In order tor educe fraud, the management must implement policies and
procedures regarding education in what the consequence of the employee and company will be if
fraud is detected.
Due to the small number of employees in the LJB Copmany, there is an advantage over competitors.
Because employees show long term commitment, there is a loyalty and employee retention. It is
also easier to manage the employees and implementing new rules and regulations will be handled in
an easier manner. The decision to switch to pre–numbered invoices was a great idea by the
accountants and the indelible ink machine purchase was a great investment. These pre–numbered
invoices are going to be a great aid in preventing transactions more than once and will be helpful in
keeping track of recorded transactions. It will also help the timeliness of the accounting entries from
the employees' transactions. This will restore the reliability of the accounting records and their
accuracy. The use of physical controls like this is crucial in the internal control environment. In
addition, the holding of checks in a safe place is in accordance with the principles of internal
physical control as well and it reflects the safeguard of assets–which in turn, improves the reliability
and accuracy of the accounting records.
Because of the monthly bank reconciliation and sole purchasing of the supplies, the accountant is
acting as a treasurer and

Use Of Case Twp : Atm System
Q1 Use Case TWP: ATM System USE CASE 1: Session Use Case Brief Description: This use case
depicts how a Bank Customer uses an ATM to withdraw or Deposit cash into their bank account.
Actors: The actors in this use case are the Bank Customer and the Bank. Preconditions: This ATM
system requires that there be an active network link to the Bank and that the ATM has available cash
to dispense. Basic Flow of Events: The use case initiates once the Bank Customer inserts their
ATM–Card into the machine's card reader slot. The ATM pulls–in the card to read it. (In the event
the card cannot be read owing to a damaged strip or improper insertion, the card is ejected, an error
page displayed, and the session is aborted.) The Bank Customer is requested to input their PIN. A
use case validating the user is executed and the Bank Customer is then allowed to carry out one or
more transactions e.g. Check Balance, Withdraw or Deposit Cash. After each transaction, the Bank
Customer is asked whether they would like to perform another transaction. Upon completion, the
ATM–Card is ejected and the session terminated. However, if a transaction is aborted owing to too
many invalid PIN entries, the session is aborted as well, with ATM retaining the card. The Bank
Customer may at any time abort the session by pressing 'Cancel' to exit a transaction and return to
the main menu. USE CASE 2: Withdraw Cash Transaction Use Case Brief Description: This use

Sample Of Apology Report
Thank you for replying and I apologize in advance for the lengthy and wordy message and talking
about myself here and there. I tried to give as much details as possible. Some things can no longer
be proven because to my knowledge Fran stopped doing them when Paul and Mark Rodocker
started to visit the building frequently. I placed stars at the beginning of the important paragraphs,
which is the main purpose of my email, where you most likely can find evidence to support my
claims. And if you gave Fran permission to do those things then I sincerely apologize and hope you
disregard this message. Background: I worked as Fran's assistant for over two years and the 8th was

I don't like when people take complete advantage of their high(er) status, but to keep my job I did
what Fran told me to and kept my mouth shut because essentially she was my boss. I had never
worked with someone with such superiority complex before so I didn't know what to do. I know
she's a manager but sometimes she'd be out of control. If you remember the incident with the ticket
the fire marshall gave us. I wasn't aware that the maintenance crew kept dumpsters and their carts
behind the fire exit door, but Fran apparently knew for a long time. She never mentioned it to me. I

Personal Narrative: Customer Service
I'm working part–time at a fast food joint and holy fuck, you and your friends just came to order
stuff and oh no I have this huge fat crush on you because you're always so nice to everyone and to
me, I hope you don't notice the fear in my Customer Service Smile™. Steve is bored out of his
absolute *mind*. Ever since he began working at the local McDonalds, he's had twelve customers.
Steve's been working there for two weeks. So when he sees two cars pull up in the parking lot, he
straightens up and begins wiping down the counter. Bruce, who works in the "kitchen", likes it when
everything is neat (they're science partners, and every project they turn in is perfect– Bruce's genius

matter how much Steve doesn't want to, he's going to be the polite man his mother raised him as (it's
proving to be increasingly more difficult). James falters before smiling even wider. "We'll have 18
double cheeseburgers, 12 medium fries, 4 large strawberry banana smoothies, 2 large chocolate
shakes, 2 large fountain pops, 2 waters, an Asian chicken salad, and 20 chocolate chip cookies. Oh,

asking him to repeat the large order, Steve gives the slip to Bruce (who had came out about half way
through their order). Because Steve is kinda scared to tell them their order, he says "You guys can
pay when you leave. Would you like that for here or to go?" Steve may be smiling, but he's in pain
from having to talk to James for this long. After glancing back to his friends, James flinches and
responds with "Here. Thanks, Steve." before him and Pepper walk back to the table (well, actually,

My First Day
It was my first day at work and I thought to myself, Is my hair straight? Are these the right clothes?
Are the people going to be mean? I walked in with confidence in my face as the sliding doors
opened for me. It was busy and every register was full of people. At least ten customers were at each
one.. I walked in and walked to the supervisor. "I'm ready to work," I said with a big smile. He
looked at me as welcoming as ever and walked me over to behind the counter. He gave me an old,
plastic bag full of money and a solid, black till that looked well used.
'Count this," he said in a frantic manner as I heard a loud crash take place across the store.
He rushed over to the scene, leaving me by myself as I began to count. I was confused.
"How am I going to count this?" I said sarcastically.
I asked around for a piece of paper, but no one had a piece on them. I counted all the money in my
head, trying not to lose count. It was hard to focus while listening to a coworker of mine talking to
one of his friends. I thought to myself, rolling my eyes, He's going to be fun to work with... NOT.
He looked my way confused, wondering what I was doing. He then realized what I was doing and
rushed over to me.
He said laughing, "Are you having trouble counting the money?"
"No, I can count just fine" I replied angrily.
He replied by pointing towards an old adding machine that was cleverly hidden under a bag with the
logo of the store on it. I removed the bag thinking to myself, Wow that

A Short Story
The machine sizzled as it lifted up from the large sheet of freshly printed $10 bills. I screamed out in
pain from the heat of the printer but no one seemed to hear me. I averted my eyes to my chest and
yelped with delight. I'm a $10 bill! In my past life I was a $1, who wants to be a $1? I had always
wanted to be a $10 bill, it had Alexander Hamilton on it. In my past life I was lost under my owner's
bed and wasn't found for years. She was a big fan of the musical and played the soundtrack almost
24/7 so I was very familiar with it and had always envied the $10 bills. I was overjoyed and
wondered if any of the bills beside me had the same feelings. It took what I estimated to be around
six days for me to be in my first cash register. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weeks later, the woman behind the counter aggressively picked me up and handed me to a frail,
wrinkled, and shaking hand. She slowly raised me up to the pocket on the left side of her shirt, just
far enough so I could see over the top of the pocket. She walked like a snail all the way back to her
small house that reeked of cat urine. The next weeks were very uneventful until the woman
decided to take a walk the the nearby dog park.I was now relocated in the back pocket of her jeans
and got painfully crinkled when she sat down on the bench. Suddenly I felt something cold and wet
cover me and before I knew it I was in a dogs mouth. I cried out but the pain didn't cease. I sighed in
relief when the do dropped me in the woods at the sound of his owners voice.
I stayed there in weeks until a sparrow picked me up and carried me to her nest. She ripped me into
shreds and weaved me into her nest. Not long after, huge storm came over head. A large strike of
lightning struck the nest and nocked it 15 feet to the ground. Wind blew my many pieces away from
the no longer existent sparrows nest and into the sky. I couldn't tell you where all of my shreds went
if I want to but I do know that one piece went into the ocean, one into some tropical island, and one
on the awning of my favorite musical ,Hamilton. I cannot believe that I was so lucky as to land here.

An effective system of internal control limits the probability that fraud will take place. Within an
effective system on internal control an organization will safeguard their assets, encourage
employees to follow company policy, promote operational efficiency, strive towards the most
accurate and reliable accounting records, and complies with all legal requirements. Internal controls

There are four or five ways Flynn's embezzlement or most organizations embezzlements could have
been avoided which include smart hiring practices along with separation of duties. Like mentioned
earlier no one person or group should have control of transactions from the start to the finish and it
is important to do things like background checks when hiring for positions that people would have

Comparing and monitoring is next on the list which is important because it forces people or
departments to cross–check their records, budget their activities, and can be used to audit the
organization. Adequate accounting records are also very important as they would be supported along
with either electronic records or hard copies to show everything that has been processed throughout
the organization and will make it very easy to check everything quickly when that needs to be done.
Limited access to records and assets can really make it hard for someone in an organization to
commit fraud. If the accounting department never has access to the actual money and the people in
charge of the money have no access to the accounting of the organization other than sending them
the info over that the

Kudler Fine Foods has decided to upgrade the cash registers in three stores. The new registers are
scheduled for installation in six weeks, and various members of the cashier, management team and
computer support specialists will require training on the proper use of the new equipment. Five
methods are under review for training implementation; oral presentation, written report, video, e–
mail, and website training. This paper will focus on the training mediums available and determine
the merit of each medium based on cost, effect, message, audience, purpose, and reach.

436). Written reports are an excellent channel to convey detailed information. The purpose for the
communication at Kudler Fine Foods is to train cashiers on how to use the new NCR cash registers.
At a minimum the communication need is for instructions and hands–on practice using the new cash
register. Written instructions and training manuals are good reference materials to compliment
hands–on training. A written report is not an instructional tool, therefore; a written report would not
adequately serve the purpose for training the cashiers to use the new cash registers.
Video
Video presentations will be presented from the vendor of the NCR RealPOS 30 terminals. The video
presentations will examine the use of the terminals and separate video presentations should be
available for the cashiers, the management team, and the computer support specialists. The video
presentations should cover hands–on use of the terminals depending on the employee and the
employees need. The cost of the video presentations should be minor as they should be available
from the vendor. The purpose of the video presentations will be hands–on use so that each employee
gains a clear understanding of the terminal. The video presentations should be viewed prior to the
oral presentations to expedite the oral presentations. The purpose of the video presentations is to

I went home the weekend of October 8 and 9th. On Sunday October 9th my mom and I went to

Walmart in Wadsworth, Ohio, my home town, was completely out of 12 packs of Lipton Citrus
Green Iced Tea. There was no kiosk for them and there were none of that flavor in the aisle. At this
Walmart, where they should have been was surrounded by other types of Lipton, Pure Life, and
Snapple teas. On Monday October 10th, I went to Walmart in Ashland because I failed to purchase
tea in Wadsworth. They had it, but were also surprisingly low stocked. My theory is this product is a

My mom drops me off in front of the large store, "good luck Sarah you will do great! See you at 6"
she says as I quickly jump out of the car. I walk up the automatic door with butterflies in my
stomach while repeating to myself, "don 't worry you 'll be fine" over and over again in hopes if I
say it enough it 'll become true. The automatic doors open with one swift motion I then walk
towards a second set of automatic door. When these doors open I am greeted with a gust of nice cold
air and the constant sound of beep beep, shopping carts wheeling around, the sound of cash registers
opening, receipts printing off, and bustling people. I freeze trying to figure out where to go in this
large store but before I can start to panic I am greeted by a small masculine looking women in her
mid 20s with an extremely laid back attitude. "Here" she says as she tosses me a navy blue polyester

Coworkers
Coworkers. These are the people that the majority of us have to deal with by the time we reach the
college level. Some can be a joy to work with, while others may not be as easy going. As an
employee, at my current job, I've had good and bad experience with my fellow coworkers, but over
the course of time I've learned how to handle this type of situation. At any job you will have to
know how to deal with different types of coworkers. To my understanding coworkers can be
classified into three major groups: slackers, overachievers, and neutral co–workers. The slacker is
the one who is unwilling to work or use energy and probably the worst one to work with. These
sluggish co–workers show up to work five to ten minutes late and have the nerve ... Show more

They usually only talk when customers are approching, but even then they tend to come off as being
snobbish. They are depicted to be bossy and love to take charge, but when they do something wrong
they wont hesitiate to throw you under the bus to save themselves. For example, during one of my
many shifts I had to work with one of my least favorite co–worker, Sabrina. That afternoon we
agreed to split the several task assigned to us in half so we would finish faster. During the time we
had to complete these task, we also had to be at the register attending customers as they approched
us. As the day progressed I have taken notice that all the items I have stocked up was rearranged,
but everytime I would reposition the item, it would change positions again or it would be relocated
to another section of the store. I soon found out that my co–worker was not just finishing her task
but changing what she believed was wrong with my display. Of course, I let this type of situation

announced that she did it all by herself, which obviously was not true, and goes to show that
everything she had stocked up was not in the correct shelves. Although it was her mistake and I had

The Language Of The English Language Essay
The English language has been the language that most people use in conversations and in everyday
life. According to Carmen Santillana (2013), English is the most used language in the world, and
there are one out of five people that can speak or understand the English language. There are 53
countries whose main language is English. According to a research in the US, it takes 4–7 years or
even 10 years for a student in the US to develop their academic language proficiency (p. 85). Every
country has their own language that is used mostly in conversing. Although Filipinos are used to
using their mother language in casual conversations, English should be the medium of instruction
for world history because it is appropriate, suitable, and practical. People are used to using their
mother language because this is the language that they are familiar with. The mother language is the
language that people use ever since they were born. It is the language that their parents first used to
talk to them. For some people, their mother language is the most uncomplicated mean in
communicating with their peers. People easily understand each other if it is the language that they
were used to ever since they grew up. If people understand each other easily, they would not have a
hard time in conversing with each other. Technology has been changing people's lives these days.
People wanted everything to be effortless in terms of all the things that they are doing especially
with the words that

The Ethics Case Contemplation, Dilemma At Devil 's Den
The ethics case contemplation, Dilemma at Devil's Den, is an unblemished precedent of the
challenges that can appear at an establishment that question's the moral ethics of business. The
Devil's Den is a snack bar on a college campus, which employed approximately 36 students with 6
of them in management positions. Evening and weekend positions were difficult to fill, and wages
were low, making employees valuable. Therefore, the managers were more flexible in their actions
and correction measures were not enforced. In order for this den to carry on in an ethical manner it
transpired to be a challenge and culture shock for all staff involved.
The daily activities happening at the Devil's Den are unethical, some of them being minor issues,
but in the case with ethics small things can become big things. The line is blurred as to where you
draw the line. At the Devil's Den, employees' are allowed to eat things out of the store room when
working. But, they were abusing this privilege by taking sizeable amounts of food home when their
shift was complete as well as when they were off duty. In addition, customers and employee friends
have been doing this as well, following suit of the employee's actions since they were never
confronted. On the same note of misconduct, one of the employees was actually caught stealing
money out of the cash register. His only punishment was to stay away from the cash register from
now on.
It is important to realize many of the core causes stem from the

Essay on Masbia: The Restaurant Without Cash Registers
Allison Josephs describes Masbia Organization as "the restaurant without cash registers" (Par. 6).
The founder, Alexander Rappaport, is describes as a person with unconditional love for those in
need. They serve approximately one million meals in one year to people of all backgrounds.
In most soup kitchens, prior to entering, one needs to go through a thorough screening process.
However, Rappaport saw this as a major flaw and set up Masbia, which serves anyone who passes
through their doors. Their goal is to serve the impoverished with dignity and respect. Whether the
people are Jewish or not, whoever walks in may partake in a meal.
There is a price that Masbia pays as a result of their decision of not screening anyone. Masbia gets

Hotdogs Does Case Essay
1. The audit of Herb's Hotdogs does pose some engagement risk but not as much risk as a larger,

My First Day At Work
First Day At Work It was my first day at work and I thought to myself, Is my hair straight? Are these
the right clothes? Are the people going to be mean? I walked in with confidence in my face as the
sliding doors opened for me. It was busy and every register was full of people. At least ten
customers were in each line. I walked in and walked to the supervisor. "I'm ready to work," I said
with a big smile. He looked at me as welcoming as ever and walked me over to behind the counter.
He gave me an old, plastic bag full of money and a solid, black register tray that looked well used.
I removed the bag

Cash Registers
Lately cash registers were the one game around, but nowadays companies have a lot more choices.
Changing those antiquated cash registers with modern point of sales devices posesses variety of
important benefits, including:
1. Point of sales systems simplify the accounting process. Old–fashioned cash registers drive
accountants to evaluate a huge selection of receipts, but with a spot of sales system financial staff
can merely use the built–in accounts or create their own.
2. Unlike a check out, a spot of deal system often includes a standard inventory management
system. Store owners may use a spot of sales system to keep tabs on their biggest retailers and
reorder those products when stock gets low.
3. It is not hard to research past transactions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Point of sales devices provide faster service than old–fashioned cash registers. Every section of the
process, from authorizing a debit card transaction to producing a person receipt, is faster on a spot
of sales device.
7. Customers acquire more interesting itemized receipts with a spot of sales devices. Many cash
registers can only just print the time and the quantity of the deal, but since point of deal devices are
linked in to the inventory control system they provides much more specific information, including a
explanation of that, the list price and the sales price.
8. Point of deal devices can lessen user errors. Striking an incorrect key is always a risk when
buzzing a deal, but point of sales devices have built–in bank checks to ensure that the info is entered
effectively.
9. You can view real–time inventory with a spot of sales device, something that even the best cash
registers just can't do. Actually, many companies have discovered that implementing a spot of sales
system practically reduces the necessity for an expensive hand count.
10. The maintenance and repair costs tend to be lower on a spot of deal device when compared to a
cash register. The amount of companies that repair cash registers is dwindling, and which means that
repair costs can be somewhat high. There are numerous suppliers who repair point of sales devices,
which will keep repair costs

Examples Of Cash Register Honesty
Cash register honesty is taking other odds and ends but drawing the line at taking actual money.
Taking a pencil from an office is an example of cash register honesty. You take it without thinking
twice because it is only a pencil . However , overtime taking items with little value add up. It is said
in the textbook, that by taking these little items without thinking twice we are contributing to the
tens of billions of dollars that are lost each year. Having denial that taking these little value items is
stealing , goes along with cash register honesty. An example of cash register honesty would be,
Noah works at a restaurant and at the restaurant the employees are allowed to eat certain meals for
free but the other meals that cost more money to make, the employees have to pay for . While, on

Spoken Language Discourse Essay
Language is a tool people use to communicate with others, it can be both seen and heard and it can
be standard or diverse. It is the way in which individuals share information and encompasses many
forms including written and spoken, body language and signals, visual stimuli and even the use of
electronic devices. Language can be spoken, written or signed and involves many facets. According
to Gee & Hayes, 2011, language is influenced by both social and cultural environments, it is often
social in that it can be personalised to a group or individual and cultural whereby the way a person
speaks is relative to the rules of the society they live in and governed by the cultural acceptances of
that society.
Our language is heard when we use spoken language and requires an individual to make and
understand verbal cues and it also provides the necessity to be able code and decode both text and
non–verbal cues such as gestures and facial expressions. Within society there exist many
Discourses. "Discourses determine how people view language, and more importantly, how they
practise it." (Green, D, 2006, p.3) Within a Discourse there may be many discourses that are
different ways of speaking within the overarching Discourse. For example, within a school setting
you have an educational Discourse that is the language of the department of education used to set
the expected standards for the school. Within this Discourse you have many smaller discourses such
as the language used by the

Taco Bell Vs Disneyland Case Study
Reflecting on my past few years in the food industry, I have realized I have been hired on as an
employee for various companies including well–known large companies and smaller "mom and
pop" facilities. Even though it is typically expected that each job differs from the last, one usually
believes two jobs in the same field, such as cashiering in a fast–paced restaurant will have the same
basis of rules. However, when comparing a cashiering position at Taco Bell, to a cashiering position
at Disneyland, one will discover there are many more differences than similarities. To begin, Taco
Bell does not have any special vocabulary. A cashier is called a cashier and customers are called
customers. Disneyland on the other hand, refers to employees as cast members, and customers as
guests. Cast members are required to learn other Disneyland vocabulary, or backstage lingo. To
begin with, "backstage" refers to the "employee only" areas, and "on stage" refers to the area where
Disneyland guests pay to visit. When walking "on stage", every cast member needs to be in full
costume, or "show ready". The application and interview process for Taco Bell and Disneyland were
the same, I applied online, and within a week received notice of a scheduled interview time. The
interview process was simple, I went in, was asked questions regarding my availability and my
ability to work independently and with others. Disneyland asked me other questions such as "Why

Slang Is So Popular With The Younger Generations
The way in which we speak changes drastically depending on the situation, environment we are in
and who we are speaking to. The use of slang in today's society is increasingly becoming more and
more common. However, this new, modern way of speaking also comes with negative connotations.
For this reason, people have had to learn to adapt their speech to their situation. I will be discussing
the reasons behind the use of slang, why some people disapprove of it and I will analyse how people
change the way in which they speak depending on their situation. Many young people use slang in
order to fit in with their peers. Because slang is mainly spoken by younger people, the use of it
almost puts up a barrier between children and adults. This barrier gives the youth a sense of
rebellion. This may be one of the reasons why slang is so popular with the younger generations, this
feeling gives them a sense of freedom and independence. Additionally, this may also be one of the
reasons why many people disapprove of the use of slang. Some people believe that the use of slang
suggests bad manners and morals, this leads to them distrusting people who use slang. People also
believe that the common use of slang is causing the deterioration of Standard English. This can
cause many problems in society because it is easy for assumptions to be made about people because
of the way they speak. For this reason, the younger generation have learnt to adapt the way they
speak around different

Se-S700 Week 3 Cash Register
The first cash register was made in the 1870s, in Ohio by restaurateur, James Ritty. Previously Mr.
Ritter kept money in a cigar box or the bartender's pocket. He was continually losing money and
needed a better way to track sales. Cash Register The Casio SE–S700 is currently manufactured.
The exact manufacturing date of the cash register is unknown and a phone call to Casio failed to
inform me of when the register was available to the public. Amazon had this register for sale
beginning on April 29, 2014. Casio SE–S700 Electronic Cash Register,CASIO,SE–S700 The design
team of Casio designed all the hardware. The cash register is a Point of Sale (POS) register and has
not changed since 2014. The manufacturing process involves workers standing in front of a
conveyor belt moving at 2–3 miles per hour. They use soldering irons and screw guns to attach
pieces of the machine together. Lasers are used to cut metal parts of the register. The metal parts are
placed on the conveyor belt to go to a hydraulic press which makes the holes in the metal. The latch
of the till is activated by a solenoid run by an electric current. The logic board, keyboard, display,
and printer are attached to the machine. The casing is placed on last before being boxed for
shipment. Quality control tests are made frequently in each stage of construction. ... Show more

How Did The Cash Register Change The World
Imagine running a business without a cash register. Imagine how unorganized, chaotic, and difficult
it would be to handle money through every employee without the cash register. This is no longer a
problem for any business anymore thanks to James Ritty. "The cash register was invented in 1879
by James Ritty, a saloonkeeper in Dayton, Ohio."(thecorememory.com). "The prototype machine
had a large, clock–like face and a row of keys for entering amounts from 5 cents to 95 cents (by
fives) and from $1 to $9. A mechanism inside the machine recorded total sales."
(americanhistory.si.edu). This was how the first cash register worked, and was the base model for
many more to come. He created this invention because he believed that his employees were stealing
money from his saloon, and with the cash register being invented, they no longer can. Finally, the
cash register was the most important invention in American history, due to its major impact on
businesses around the world. After the cash register was invented, it became a huge success. Before,
"few business owners actually knew if they were operating at a profit or a loss"
(thecorememory.com), and now companies can easily see how much money they are making, and
what they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, there are many positive impacts that it has. An example of this is how it prevents employees
from pilfering money from the manager. There is also some people that despise the cash register,
and those people are the employees that were taking the money before. Finally, the evolvement of
the cash register from Ritty's model to the electronic model, was very important to each society that
it evolved through. All in all, without the cash register, small businesses will crumble from loss of
profit, and the economy would go into a downfall without the invention of the cash

A Note On Crime Prevention
Crime Prevention
Businesses that use a cash drawer, can be particularly susceptible to employee theft. Cash is always
a higher temptation because it is easy to take and easy to hide and difficult for employers to trace.
Still, there are quite a few processes that can be put into place to dissuade employees from stealing
and from the business. A few options include:
1) Separate Cash Drawers – At the beginning of every shift a counted cash drawer should be given
to each cashier. This provides a definitive starting amount for reference. Each cashier should be
responsible for their own individual drawer. Shared drawers will make it impossible to pinpoint
which employee might be the one stealing if a situation occurs.
2) Verifying Cash Drawer Counts – Each cashier should count the cash in the drawer provided to
them at the beginning of the shift. After counting, the employee must sign the register tape to
confirm that the cash amount and the sales tape are in balance. This prevents discrepancies
regarding the amount a drawer had when the shift began.
3) Mid–shift Readings – At some point during each shift, without advanced notice, a manager
should take the current drawer and provide a new drawer to each cashier. A sales report should be
run on the used drawer to verify that it is in balance. This measure will prevent cashiers from storing
stolen cash in the drawer during their shift. A second drawer swap should periodically be conducted
as well to prevent predictability of the

LJB Company wishes to move forward and become a public entity. Good corporate governance
within an organization may make a company more attractive to potential buyers, investors, and
other capital sources. Under SOX Section 404, all publicly traded U.S. corporations are required to
maintain an adequate system of internal controls. Corporate executives and boards of directors must
ensure that these controls are both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Things to Ponder
It has been observed that the company is violating the principle of control activity of segregation of
duties. The accountant is acting as the treasurer and controller. In this dual role, he purchases all of
the supplies and pays for these purchases. He also receives the checks and completes the monthly
bank reconciliation. Various frauds are possible when one person handles related activities. These
duties must be segregated to multiple personnel.
Use of the three principles of internal control segregation of record–keeping from physical custody,
documentation and independent internal verification is recommended. This will deliver an effective
system of internal controls. Any attempt at fraudulent activity will be detected unless there is
collusion among the employees.
Internal controls over cash receipts should include:
(a) designating only personnel such as cashiers to handle cash;
(b) assigning the duties of receiving cash, recording cash, and having custody of cash to different
individuals;
(c) obtaining remittance advices for mail receipts, cash register tapes for over–the–counter receipts,
and deposit slips for bank deposits;
(d) using company safes and bank vaults to store cash with access limited to authorized personnel,
and using cash registers in executing over–the–counter receipts;
(e) making independent daily counts of register receipts and

Compare And Contrast Harris And Jeffery
Have you ever heard of a slave man that tries to get his own master to buy his betrothed? From what
we read in class, in a story it talks about how a slave man begs his master to please buy his
betrothed, but it turned out that Dorcas was sold with a whole family. In the meanwhile, Jeffery's
master only wanted Dorcas not the whole family that was with her. While on the other story, it talks
about how a group of slaves got caught hidden in a barn. While they was trying to escape for their
freedom, a man asked if he could help them. That they could hide in his barn because if someone
caught them escaping that then they would probably be beat to death. The poor slaves accepted
going to the man's barn, but it turned out that they got caught and they fought. Two of the slaves
dead and the other two were taken back and they were beaten. But that for sure did not stop Wesley
Harris from escaping one more time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most common similar that both men had was, that they were both brave slaves that did not give
up. Wesley Harris and Jeffery both received help from others. For example Jeffery received help
from his master because after begging the master to buy Dorcas. The master finally deceived to buy
her. While on the other hand, Harris received help from one of the slaves to get him a rope and some
nails. Even after being caught escaping he still tried it one more time. The both men were desperate
for getting their freedom. And another alike thing that both men had was that they both got
unexpected

These issues are included to help students realize the need for professional skepticism when obtaining and evaluating evidence and help them pay attention to more than just the numbers. To help the instructor make a vivid and lasting impression about evidence quality, a copy of the fraudulent faxed confirmation form used by Parmalat is included in these notes so the instructor can make an overhead to use in class. The actual forged Parmalat fax can be used to create a vivid learning experience for students. Again, it was a new restaurant, but this time the management was from the school. But it was not like that at first. You would think that it would be running smoothly, but wrong. Grand Canyon University was hiring new managers and students who did not know how to work cash registers or let alone machines. We all trained ourselves to work the machines and everything. I was one of the few who could learn quickly and tried to teach the other students. After a couple of months of disorganized chaos, I talked with my boss to see if there was anything to help, but he said I could not do anything. I started to tell the other students what needed to be done. We all would clock in and I would tell someone to do dining, two to count in and do cash register, one person does to shakes, two to do prep work, and two to serving. After that, we all caught on what needed to be done. I also suggested having shift leaders during each shift to help order what needs to get done. They liked that idea and started hiring and recruiting those to be shift leaders. I was not one and did not want to be one because it became stressful overtime. I only did so if the shift leader was gone. After all that, Habit was finally running smoothly and became the popular place to hang out in my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. My Experience : My First Day In High School When I thought about getting my first job I imagined that it would be exciting; I would meet all these new people and make all these new friends. It reminded me of how I felt on my first day of high school. I was anxious but excited that I even daydreamed of what it was going to be like. I decided to reinvent myself and my look, which is something that I would always do on my first day back to school. Most times I would change my hair and other times I would change my handwriting. It felt like a new beginning and I wanted to present a new me to the world. But as usual reality rarely ever meets expectation, not everyone is enthusiastic about work and some people just don't know how to be professional. I was 18 years old at the time, living in Jamaica and attending Colbourne College. Normally, I would participate in volunteer service programs during the summer with the National Youth Service; but, in 2010 I decided to get a part–time job at Mega Mart, one of the largest supermarket chains in the Jamaica. My first day started on a Saturday morning. I met two of my supervisors Carlene and Jacky; and also three coworkers Sean, Stacy, and Christina. Carlene was the person responsible for training me and it went so well that by the next day I was already doing things on my own. Carlene was pleased that I was catching on really fast. On a typical work day, I would restock shelves, assist customers with finding products and once in a while I would be on the cash register. Most of my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Slang And Its Effect On Everyday Life Essay The use of slang in my life today is very evident. My roommates and I always talk slang during the day and the night. I don't use slang very much in text messages or emails partly because I don't feel the need and I am normally emailing professors and staff members who expect me to respect them by writing with proper English. Most of the time my roommates and I use slang when we are just messing or playing around. Therefore, the use of slang in my classroom will be mainly for educational purposes and limited because of the focus on standard English and the negative view it may put upon the child. There is no doubt that people use slang almost every day. These people might be just using it for fun and mocking others, while some may use it to protest the use of standard English. The book, How English Works, by Curzan and Adams talks about how slang is used in everyday life and thrives in places that involve pop–music, athletics, narcotics, and other various factors (Curzan and Adams, 2012). I feel that Curzan and Adams are right on point when they say slang thrives on these main ideas. For example, my roommates listen to music that has slang involved in it. My roommates and I normally sing to some of the songs while they are playing or even after they are done playing and use slang without consciously knowing because it is in a song. Normally these songs get stuck in our heads and we end up singing the lyrics out loud using slang almost every day. Most of the songs that we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Internal Controls Relating to the Bjb Company Essay All publicly trader companies in the USA are required to maintain and have an up to date system of internal controls. Since the LJB Company is wishing to become a public entity, I am glad to be able to assist in this action. First, the rules and regulations must be reviewed and compared to the company and how it can become public. I walked in with confidence in my face as the sliding doors opened for me. It was busy and every register was full of people. At least ten customers were at each one.. I walked in and walked to the supervisor. "I'm ready to work," I said with a big smile. He looked at me as welcoming as ever and walked me over to behind the counter. According to Carmen Santillana (2013), English is the most used language in the world, and there are one out of five people that can speak or understand the English language. There are 53 countries whose main language is English. According to a research in the US, it takes 4–7 years or even 10 years for a student in the US to develop their academic language proficiency (p. 85). Every country has their own language that is used mostly in conversing. Although Filipinos are used to using their mother language in casual conversations, English should be the medium of instruction for world history because it is appropriate, suitable, and practical. People are used to using their mother language because this is the language that they are familiar with. The mother language is the language that people use ever since they were born. It is the language that their parents first used to talk to them. For some people, their mother language is the most uncomplicated mean in communicating with their peers. People easily understand each other if it is the language that they were used to ever since they grew up. • 30. My First Day At Work First Day At Work It was my first day at work and I thought to myself, Is my hair straight? Are these the right clothes? Are the people going to be mean? I walked in with confidence in my face as the sliding doors opened for me. It was busy and every register was full of people. At least ten customers were in each line. I walked in and walked to the supervisor. "I'm ready to work," I said with a big smile. He looked at me as welcoming as ever and walked me over to behind the counter. He gave me an old, plastic bag full of money and a solid, black register tray that looked well used. 'Count this," he said in a frantic manner as I heard a loud crash take place across the store. He rushed over to the scene, leaving me by myself as I began to count. I was confused. "How am I going to count this?" I said sarcastically. I asked around for a piece of paper, but no one had a piece on them. I counted all the money in my head, trying not to lose count. It was hard to focus while listening to a coworker of mine talking to one of his friends. I thought to myself, rolling my eyes, He's going to be fun to work with... NOT. He looked my way confused, wondering what I was doing. He then realized what I was doing and rushed over to me. He said laughing, "Are you having trouble counting the money?" "No, I can count just fine" I replied angrily. He replied by pointing towards an old adding machine that was cleverly hidden under a bag with the logo of the store on it. I removed the bag ... • 35. Spoken Language Discourse Essay Language is a tool people use to communicate with others, it can be both seen and heard and it can be standard or diverse. It is the way in which individuals share information and encompasses many forms including written and spoken, body language and signals, visual stimuli and even the use of electronic devices. Language can be spoken, written or signed and involves many facets. According to Gee & Hayes, 2011, language is influenced by both social and cultural environments, it is often social in that it can be personalised to a group or individual and cultural whereby the way a person speaks is relative to the rules of the society they live in and governed by the cultural acceptances of that society. Our language is heard when we use spoken language and requires an individual to make and understand verbal cues and it also provides the necessity to be able code and decode both text and non–verbal cues such as gestures and facial expressions. Within society there exist many Discourses. "Discourses determine how people view language, and more importantly, how they practise it." (Green, D, 2006, p.3) Within a Discourse there may be many discourses that are different ways of speaking within the overarching Discourse. For example, within a school setting you have an educational Discourse that is the language of the department of education used to set the expected standards for the school. • 37. Taco Bell Vs Disneyland Case Study Reflecting on my past few years in the food industry, I have realized I have been hired on as an employee for various companies including well–known large companies and smaller "mom and pop" facilities. Even though it is typically expected that each job differs from the last, one usually believes two jobs in the same field, such as cashiering in a fast–paced restaurant will have the same basis of rules. However, when comparing a cashiering position at Taco Bell, to a cashiering position at Disneyland, one will discover there are many more differences than similarities. To begin, Taco Bell does not have any special vocabulary. A cashier is called a cashier and customers are called customers. Disneyland on the other hand, refers to employees as cast members, and customers as guests. Cast members are required to learn other Disneyland vocabulary, or backstage lingo. To begin with, "backstage" refers to the "employee only" areas, and "on stage" refers to the area where Disneyland guests pay to visit. When walking "on stage", every cast member needs to be in full costume, or "show ready". The application and interview process for Taco Bell and Disneyland were the same, I applied online, and within a week received notice of a scheduled interview time. The interview process was simple, I went in, was asked questions regarding my availability and my ability to work independently and with others. Disneyland asked me other questions such as "Why did I want to be a part of the Disney ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Slang Is So Popular With The Younger Generations The way in which we speak changes drastically depending on the situation, environment we are in and who we are speaking to. The use of slang in today's society is increasingly becoming more and more common. However, this new, modern way of speaking also comes with negative connotations. For this reason, people have had to learn to adapt their speech to their situation. I will be discussing the reasons behind the use of slang, why some people disapprove of it and I will analyse how people change the way in which they speak depending on their situation. Many young people use slang in order to fit in with their peers. Because slang is mainly spoken by younger people, the use of it almost puts up a barrier between children and adults. This barrier gives the youth a sense of rebellion. This may be one of the reasons why slang is so popular with the younger generations, this feeling gives them a sense of freedom and independence. Additionally, this may also be one of the reasons why many people disapprove of the use of slang. Some people believe that the use of slang suggests bad manners and morals, this leads to them distrusting people who use slang. People also believe that the common use of slang is causing the deterioration of Standard English. This can cause many problems in society because it is easy for assumptions to be made about people because of the way they speak. • 40. How Did The Cash Register Change The World Imagine running a business without a cash register. Imagine how unorganized, chaotic, and difficult it would be to handle money through every employee without the cash register. This is no longer a problem for any business anymore thanks to James Ritty. "The cash register was invented in 1879 by James Ritty, a saloonkeeper in Dayton, Ohio."(thecorememory.com). "The prototype machine had a large, clock–like face and a row of keys for entering amounts from 5 cents to 95 cents (by fives) and from $1 to $9. A mechanism inside the machine recorded total sales." (americanhistory.si.edu). This was how the first cash register worked, and was the base model for many more to come. He created this invention because he believed that his employees were stealing money from his saloon, and with the cash register being invented, they no longer can. Finally, the cash register was the most important invention in American history, due to its major impact on businesses around the world. • 41. A Note On Crime Prevention Crime Prevention Businesses that use a cash drawer, can be particularly susceptible to employee theft. Cash is always a higher temptation because it is easy to take and easy to hide and difficult for employers to trace. Still, there are quite a few processes that can be put into place to dissuade employees from stealing and from the business. A few options include: 1) Separate Cash Drawers – At the beginning of every shift a counted cash drawer should be given to each cashier. This provides a definitive starting amount for reference. Each cashier should be responsible for their own individual drawer. Shared drawers will make it impossible to pinpoint which employee might be the one stealing if a situation occurs. 2) Verifying Cash Drawer Counts – Each cashier should count the cash in the drawer provided to them at the beginning of the shift. After counting, the employee must sign the register tape to confirm that the cash amount and the sales tape are in balance. This prevents discrepancies regarding the amount a drawer had when the shift began. 3) Mid–shift Readings – At some point during each shift, without advanced notice, a manager should take the current drawer and provide a new drawer to each cashier. A sales report should be run on the used drawer to verify that it is in balance. This measure will prevent cashiers from storing stolen cash in the drawer during their shift. A second drawer swap should periodically be conducted as well to prevent predictability of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this dual role, he purchases all of the supplies and pays for these purchases. He also receives the checks and completes the monthly bank reconciliation. Various frauds are possible when one person handles related activities. These duties must be segregated to multiple personnel. Use of the three principles of internal control segregation of record–keeping from physical custody, documentation and independent internal verification is recommended. This will deliver an effective system of internal controls. Any attempt at fraudulent activity will be detected unless there is collusion among the employees. Internal controls over cash receipts should include: (a) designating only personnel such as cashiers to handle cash; (b) assigning the duties of receiving cash, recording cash, and having custody of cash to different individuals; (c) obtaining remittance advices for mail receipts, cash register tapes for over–the–counter receipts, and deposit slips for bank deposits; (d) using company safes and bank vaults to store cash with access limited to authorized personnel,
