Fort Hood Shooting
I examined the Fox News, Al–Jazeera, New York Times, and Huffington Post websites. I examined
all four of these websites on April 2, 2014 between 5:30p.m and 8p.m. On the Fox News website the
top story was about the Fort Hood shooting. The headline was "BREAKING NEWS: At least 4
dead, 14 injured in shooting at Fort Hood" The 'breaking news' text was in all capitals and it was
bright red. The lead was "A shooting at Ft. Hood that reportedly left at least four dead –– including
the shooter –– and 14 injured Wednesday was a "soldier on soldier" incident without any
preliminary terrorism link, a senior Department of Homeland Security source told FoxNews.com."
On the Huffington post website the top story in also about the Fort Hood shooting. The headline in
"NEW FORT HOOD SHOOTING" this headline is in all caps and is also bright red. The lead is "A
shooting at Fort Hood on Wednesday left at least one person dead and injured multiple people.
On the New York Times website the top story was not about the Fort Hood shooting, but there was
an article about it just below the main story. The headline was "Fort Hood Shooting Leaves One
Dead, 14 Injured" The lead was "A shooting Wednesday night left at least four people dead and at
least 14 wounded at Fort Hood, the sprawling Army facility that in 2009 was the site of the deadliest
mass shootings ever at an American military base, a Texas congressman said."
The main story on Al–Jazeera also wasn't about the shooting, but there was an

"Did the revitalization of Sundance Square influence and creation of Bass Hall benefit the
popularity of art in Fort Worth?"
April 9th, 2015
Abstract As there is not a whole lot known about the revitalization of Fort Worth Texas, so it is
important to draw attention to the transformation of the city hiding in Texas from the beginning of
Revitalization in 1979 to the end of it in 2011. Fort Worth was in economic disorder after WWII and
it was seen through the crumbling state of the city... people moved from cities into suburbs and these
people began shopping at strip malls rather than downtown centers. (Bernard,1). This severely
affected Fort Worth's economy but this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To make Fort Worth a major center in the metropolis as it was before, and not just a part of it as the
city had become, the Bass Brothers Enterprise decided to make the Bass Hall out to be the
centerpiece of the Sundance Square by making it the best architecturally and aesthetically, as well as
acoustically. Bass Hall is currently the permanent home of the Texas Ballet Theater, Fort Worth
Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Opera, and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and
Cliburn Concerts(Bradley Hasse, 6). Before Revitalization the thought of such programs was
ridiculously impossible, especially for them to be based out of Fort Worth. The Bass Brother's
contribution of the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall, as the crown jewel of Sundance
square to many artists and musicians all over the world due to its global recognition for being one of
the top ten best opera houses in the world (Fort Worth Architecture, 1) further allotted for attention
to be drawn into the city further than it already was, due to the completed Revitalization process. As
stated, the building was originally rejected by the city as a tax–funded project (as taxpayers felt their
money was better used elsewhere), so the millionaires were so adamant about creating the famous
hall at the time that the

Analysis Of Carson Mccullers 's Reflections
The setting is an integral part of any good story, and especially so within the Gothic genre. From the
endless varieties and specificities of haunted houses and physical and mental loneliness to the
invasion of the domestic space and invasion of the natural environment, the Gothic genre relies on
the setting. Not only do Gothic settings provide various moods for the audience and help shape the
characters story arcs, they help the audience better understand the characters. Some stories can
happen in a specific setting, yet can be replicated anywhere; the story of a haunted house not only
occurs in a certain kind of domestic space, it instills in the audience the fear that any domestic space
could be host to the events of the story. But the story and characters in Carson McCullers's
Reflections in a Golden Eye are dependent on their specific setting. The general setting of the South
automatically allows the audience to understand every character to a certain degree, but that's not the
most important part of the setting; McCullers's story is dependent on its location of an army base, a
specific yet repeated place that can be found across the United States. The physical base itself, and
the social and emotional environments of the army, shape how the characters see themselves, each
other, and their actions. The combination of the rural American South and a large yet isolated army
base cultivate a specific environment that are crucial to the events that unfold in Reflections in a

LINDSEY A MARQUARDT
MARCH 13, 2015 INTRODUCTION
I used to work for Fort Wayne Community Schools as an assistant teacher for an elementary school.
I know there are several Human Services Professionals who are riddled throughout the various
facilities in our area. I was able to secure an interview with the school counselor at Towles
Montessori/New Tech Middle School. The school counselor's name is Joyce Paige. She has been in
the school system for the past 20 years and seen many different changes within the Family and
Marriage therapy. I was interested in the many things we discussed and a few of the suggested
questions led me to ask some questions of my own.
The interview occurred at 8:30 am in the Main Office of Towles Montessori. It began with
discussing the education needed to obtain a certification or license as an Educational Counselor. As
it turns out, an individual does not need to major in psychology during their undergraduate;
however, one does need to complete a Master's Degree in the Sciences in whatever area of expertise
the individual wants to focus on within their future career. In her case, she obtained a Master's
Degree in Educational Counseling. During her time in the Master's Program, the courses that really
made an impact were family and marriage and roughly 300 hours of clinical. The program she
attended was a three year, year round program. After she

Why Is John Wayne A Good Role Model
John Wayne
One of the most famous western movie stars in the mid–1900's, John Wayne did not let his small
beginnings stop him from reaching his goals. He worked long and hard to reach his place in history
as the western star he was, and still is today. John Wayne's hard work, determination, and the ability
to achieve his goals, made him a great actor, person, and role model.
John Wayne's original name was Marion Robert Morrison, who was born on May 26, 1907, in
Winterset, Iowa. His parents were Mary Alberta Brown and Clyde Leonard Morrison. John had one
brother, Robert Morrison. His father, Clyde, developed a lung condition that required him to move
his family to the warmer climates of California when John was just seven. Clyde started ranching
and farming in the Mojave Desert, but did not succeed. The family moved again, to Glendale,
California where his father opened a pharmacy, in which John helped manage in the summer. He
also did many strange jobs to earn money, such as trucker's helper and delivery boy.
John had a famous nickname, "Duke." This nickname came from the family dog, an Airedale,
named, "Duke." John and Duke spent so much time together; people started calling
Ussery 2 them, "Big and Little Duke." Sadly, in 1926, his parents divorced, John stayed with his
father, Clyde.
In school, John excelled in school and at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first film he made was Angel and Barman in 1947. He operated two different production
companies, Wayne–Fellow Productions and Batjac Productions. His career took another boost when
he starred in Red River, directed by Howard Ford. This film helped him show people his skills as
not just a western hero, but as an actor. He played a troubled cattleman named Tom Dunson and
took on a more serious and darker character. At this time, John Wayne was also receiving praise
from the film, Fort Apache, in which he starred with Shirley Temple and Henry

The Us Army 's Doctrine
The US Army's Doctrine Reference Publication (ADRP) 5–0 provides a comprehensive overview of
how the Army plans operations, expanding upon its doctrine publication (ADP) 5–0, The Operations
Process. This and other doctrine materials are produced by the Army's Combined Arms Doctrine
Directorate, United States Army Combined Arms Center (CAC) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Most
famously, then CAC Commander Lt. General David Petraeus, before his later ignominious downfall
as Director of CIA, spearheaded the production in 2006 of Army Field Manual FM 3–24,

Within Design, planners will 1) frame the Environment by analyzing the current state and the
desired end state, 2) frame the problem by determining obstacles in the way to achieving the desired
end state, 3) develop an operational approach, and 4) produce a plan.
MDMP is an "iterative planning methodology to understand the situation and mission, develop a
course of action, and produce an operational plan or order". MDMP consists of Mission analysis,
course of action (COA) development, COA analysis (War Gaming), COA Comparison, COA
approval and order/plan drafting. According to ADRP 5–0, a Commander may choose to pursue
design methodologies in parallel with MDMP, before MDMP, or indeed after. The sequencing of
these planning activities is Commander/leadership–dependent and ADRP 5–0, for a doctrinal
publication, is replete with mentions of flexibility, adaptability, and critical and creative thinking;
these attributes and capabilities being required for the effective Commander and planning staff.
A key, and at times controversial, element within operational art is the concept of a center of gravity
(COG). As Crumpton pointed out with regard to early CIA/US mil efforts in Afghanistan following
9/11, the accurate identification of the center of gravity (in that case in the psyches of Taliban
leadership) and skillful

Battle of Fort Sumter Essay
Fort Sumter is located in Charleston, South Carolina. The fort is in Charleston's harbor. The fort was
not even complete when war broke out. This was a big turning point for the United States of
America. It separated the north from the south and in some cases it separated families. This war
would impact how the United States saw slavery. It is the most deadly war that the United States has
every seen in its history.
It all began with the secession of South Carolina. After this an understanding was established
between the authorities in Washington and the members of Congress from South Carolina. They
both agreed that the forts, Fort Moultrie and Fort Sumter, would not be ... Show more content on

What Are Fort Wayne Children's Zoo?
The Fort Wayne Children's zoo is a great place to take your family. The Miami County Jail is a great
place to keep criminals off the streets. Both working establishments for the public. One for a
summer afternoon with your loved ones. One to periodically see your loved ones. Some people may
say that they are one in the same. I don't share their theology. First, the zoo is a zoo! Second, the
MCJ is for angry and mentally insane. And that is not what you'd expect from a visit to a zoo.
Thirdly, the MCJ doesn't have a damn gift shop the last time I checked. The zoo has almost nothing
in common with MCJ. The zoo is a zoo for a reason. Going to the zoo is a fun time created to spend
quality time with your family, friends, co–workers, and etc.

Fort Wayne History
Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "We are not makers of history. We are made of history." The city
of Fort Wayne is a historical community in many ways. Fort Wayne was considered as a crossroad
by early settlers and Native Americans because of its locational value at the converging point of the
three rivers; the St. Mary's, the St. Joseph, and the Maumee Rivers. The city of Fort Wayne is named
after General "Mad" Anthony Wayne. He was a bold leader in the military, who established the first
American fort. This fort was right at the meeting point of the three rivers. Fort Wayne was originally
the region where the capital of the Miami nation was located, at that time known as Kekionga.

dozens of neighborhoods and other parks throughout the city. Fort Wayne is listed on the National
Register of Historic Places for its Parks and Boulevard System. It consists of 11 public parks, four

Chicago Meatpacking History
History of the Back of the Yards
Running from west Pershing Road, around south Western Avenue, west Garfield Boulevard, and
ending at the intersection with south Halsted Street and west Pershing Road lies the neighborhood,
New City, also known as the Back of the Yards. Canaryville is also another neighborhood that lies
within New City.
The establishment of the Union Stock Yards in 1865 led to the expansion of meatpacking in
southside Chicago. Before private stock yards were created, tavern owners provided land and care
for cattle herds waiting to be sold. With the increasing service of railroads throughout the United
States, small stockyards were created in and around the city of Chicago. Chicago became the largest
railroad center in the world, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This book described the horrifying conditions in the stockyards and meatpacking industry. The story
depicts a young man and woman who have recently immigrated to Chicago from Lithuania. They
have a wedding feast at a bar in Packingown. The couple and some of their relatives go to Chicago
for a better life but Packingtown, the center of the city's meatpacking industry, is dangerous, filthy,
and hard. It was also difficult to find a job. The couple become a hundred dollars in debt to the
saloonkeeper and Jurgis has faith in the American dream that he could just work harder to make
more money. They go through struggles with hard laboring jobs such as digging freight tunnels
(which resulting in him going to the hospital), getting arrested because of attacking a man for not
giving him correct change, he starts to commit crimes such as burglaries and soon gets recruited to
work for a corrupt political boss. His spirit soon gets crushed by misery and wanders into a socialist
political rally which fills Jurgis with inspiration through a speech. He finds a job as a porter at a
socialist run hotel and later reunites with wife. This story is filled with signs of corruption and
immorality. A big symbol in this story was the animals and slaughterhouses of Packingtown which
represent the working class. Just like the animals were killed with impunity, made to suffer and had
no choice about their fate, so were thousands of immigrant workers who lived in poverty. They were
forced into capitalism. Waves of animals pass through Packingtown, just as the generations of
immigrants continue to eventually be replaced by a new

Women Should Be Legal For Combat
Women should be allowed to serve in combat roles in the military Some argue that women should
not serve in combat because; they have never served in any type of combat operations in the history
of the American military. Positions in the military have been designed specifically for women and
how they perform their duties. No evidence can be produced that women have the abilities, physical
strength, or motivation to engage in combat operations, the physical differences from their male
counterparts are so extreme; women cannot maintain the agility or psychological confidence that
men are capable of displaying during extreme combat stress. However, this thinking misses the
point. History has shown as far back as the Revolutionary War, women such as Molly Pitcher, who
took up her husband's position as an artillery gunner, after he was injured in combat. More recently
during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have had many women put into stressful combat situations,
with very little training, and were able to engage the enemy effectively, and in some cases displayed
courageous actions that saved lives. They were able to physically and mentally handle the combat
stress equally with their male counterparts. Several women have also recently been allowed to
attend advanced combat training, such as the U.S. Army Ranger School. Additionally, with much
opposition to women serving in combat units, the Department of Defense has recently opened all
combat related positions including

of hours of therapy have yielded a few ideas from the good doctors. They are often feminine, in a
Dick and Jane, pink vs. puppy dog tails sort of way. Or they're flat–out negative. Number of

John Wayne As An Example Of A Revisionist Western Film
The Western genre been highly prevalent in Hollywood films for decades. Beginning with The Great
Train Robbery in 1903, Western films have gained international many parts of Europe and Mexico
in addition to the United States. One classic example of a Western feature (full length) film is True
Grit (1969), which stars John Wayne as the strong, memorable protagonist, Rooster Cogburn.
Although the film follows many filmic conventions regarding the formula of the Western genre, it
also defies certain conventions, thus serving as an example of a revisionist Western. These qualities
also carry over into the recent remake, True Grit (2010), which contains the same plot as the original
while making use of modern cinematic techniques in order to make the film more exciting, dramatic
and accessible for a modern audience. Prior to the release of True Grit (1969), John Wayne had
played starring roles in countless other Western films, including Stagecoach (1939) and The
Searchers (1956). By the 1960s, John Wayne gained vast recognition among many audiences as the
definitive celluloid icon of the American Western. John Wayne?s popularity within Hollywood grew
largely during the 1950s, during the rise of revisionist western films. In addition, the film?s setting
is consistent with previous films in the genre. A small portion of the plot is set in a small town in
Arkansas, while the bulk is set in the sporadically populated, mountainous Indian Territory. There

The Downtown Renovation Of Fort Wayne
I was watching TV and I saw a commercial about the downtown renovations in Fort Wayne. This
caught my attention because the commercial did not go into detail about what exactly the
renovations will look like. It made me curious as to what aspects of downtown will be changed, how
they will go about renovating, and the timeframe and budget involved with these renovations.
What do you know about this topic that makes it relevant to you? I have lived near Fort Wayne for
most of my life, and just recently moved into Fort Wayne. Over the last year I have noticed an
annoying amount of construction taking place in the downtown area. I did know the reason behind
the construction until I saw the commercial about the downtown renovations. I have always liked
the city of Fort Wayne and I think it is exciting that it is being renovated and improved. I am not
sure what exactly the renovations entail, but I am glad that Fort Wayne is being rebranded. I do
know that it is becoming more common for Midwest cities to reconstruct in order to help grow and
avoid becoming obsolete.
How do you encounter this topic in your current life? Since I am now a resident of the city of Fort
Wayne, the renovations will directly impact my life. Being a resident, a will have to navigate
through the construction from the renovations. After they are complete, I will have a first–hand view
of the new Fort Wayne.

For the past 200 years in the United States, there have been a myriad of legends, folktales, and
stories concerning the american icon Johnny Appleseed; some of which extol his honorable
kindhearted nature, love for the wilderness, and Christian beliefs, and others that unveil possible
pedophiliac tendencies and love for hard cider. His unique story of spreading and planting apple
seeds from state to state has been told and retold to appear either as a heroic act of environmental
preservation and improvement or as a trait of a true entrepreneur. And though he is often described
to have a disheveled physical demeanor, such appearance has been somehow skewed to support his

Not only does Pollan travel to the places where John Chapman lived back in the 19th century, but
also does a great deal of research on the apple in order to have a more educated conclusion on the
"environmentalist's" persona. Pollan discusses that the apple is originally from the mountains of
Kazakhstan, made its way to Europe through the silk trade route, and eventually to the United States
with the arrival of Columbus and the rest of the Europeans. He also points out that the apples that
we eat are strictly from grafted trees, therefore the seeds that Chapman was planting would produce
apples so bitter and sour that they would only be edible in the form of hard apple cider. Furthermore,
if much of Chapman's business was focused around the production of trees to make cider then the
essence of his story is completely altered. He is no longer a Christian saint who has devoted himself
to preserving nature by planting trees; he is, as stated by Michael Pollan, an American Dionysus –

Charleston Harbor and protecting passage to the Rebel birthplace and Confederate capital of
Charleston, South Carolina. Union regiments stormed the beaches of Morris Island on 10 July 1863
with the intention of assuming control over Fort Wagner. The Confederate forces fortified the camp
with artillery and mortars, thwarting the Union Regiments' advances. The use of intelligence assets
would have revealed the Confederate Army's disposition, allowing the Union Army to refine their
attack strategy and conclude with the success of the Union. The Battle of Fort Wagner Battle
Overview The battle of Fort Wagner took place in July of 1863 on Morris Island in Charleston,
South Carolina. The battle commenced on 10 July 1863 and concluded on 18 July 1863 with the
defeat of the Union Regiments. The Confederate Forces were 1700 strong and were led by Generals
P.G.T Beauregard and General William B. Taliaferro. The Opposing Union Forces were 5000 strong

Essay about Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation
Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation was founded in 1863 when Mr. Henry Williams purchased Old
Fort Park and donated it to the city of Fort Wayne. Since then, Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation has
continued to grow acquiring 85 more parks which include Reservoir Park in 1880, Foster Park golf
course in 1928, Fort Wayne's Children's Zoo in 1962, the Botanical Conservatory in 1979 and more
recently Robert E. Meyer's Park in 2008. This organization does much more for the community than
just taking care of the city's parks. Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation also hosts many activities in

(City of Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, 2013) Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation organization
budgeted for and planned a way to help save this tree species. For the past couple years, biannual
Ash tree treatments have been in place to help save the Ash trees of Fort Wayne. This past summer
647 Ash trees in Fort Wayne were treated to prevent the Ash Borer from killing them. Because this
treatment is a biannual treatment, only half of the population of Ash trees was treated the summer of
2013. The other half of the population was treated the previous summer and will be treated again in
the summer of 2014. (City of Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, 2013) Davey Resource group was
the lowest bidder and took on the project of treating the Ash trees. "Davey Resource Group provides
a full range of natural resource and utility consulting services to the commercial, residential,
municipal and governmental markets." (Davey)
The question arose about the cost benefits of treating the tree versus cutting them down. It cost
approximately $43.00 to treat one tree versus the $400.00 to cut the tree down, grind the stump
away, and plant a new tree in its place. Even though many Ash trees have been saved by this
treatment, it was too late for some. So far 10,500 Ash trees have been cut down in the city of Fort
Wayne because they were attacked by the Ash Borer. This year another 2,447 will be cut down also.

John Wayne as an American Icon Essay
John Wayne as an American Icon Marion Morrison, also known as John Wayne, is perhaps one of
the most popular movie personalities ever. He began as a mere stagehand, but by the end of his
career he had developed himself as a very successful actor, producer, and director. Marion Michael
Morrison was born on May 26, 1907, in Winterest, Iowa. His father, Clyde, worked as a pharmacist,
and John Wayne thought of his father as the "kindest, most patient man I ever knew." Later on in
life, John Wayne's father developed a critical lung disease. Wayne said that his mother, Mary was "a
tiny, vivacious redheaded bundle of energy." John Wayne was nicknamed "The Duke" after his pet
as a child that was named Airedale. Early in his life, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then in 1966, Wayne received the Cecil B. Demille Award at the Golden Globe Awards. "The Duke"
would go on to make one more appearance at the Golden Globes, as well as he Academy Awards in
1970. In 1970, at the Golden Globes, John Wayne won Best Motion Picture Actor in a drama for the
movie True Grit. At the Academy Awards, he won Best Actor, also for True Grits. Then in the 1970's
Wayne managed to win the same award at the People's Choice Awards for four consecutive years.
Through the years of 1975–78, he won the Favorite Motion Picture Actor award. This is a lot of
accomplishments for one actor. But Wayne was not just any actor though. When discussing his
acting talents once, Wayne stated, "I don't act, I react." Years after Wayne's death, he is still being
recognized. He was named number sixteen of the "Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time" by Empire
Magazine in October of 1997. Wayne also helped found the Motion Picture Alliance for the
Preservation of American Ideals, and later became the president. Also, just one month before Wayne
died, President Jimmy Carter and Congress a special medal honoring "The Duke."
Outside of acting, producing, and directing, John Wayne was an avid fisherman, explorer, who truly
enjoyed his trips to the Pacific Northwest and Southeastern Asia. Wayne loved to play poker and
liked to drink whiskey. Wayne was once quoted saying, "I never trust a man that doesn't drink."

Even with my own money, and the Drill Sergeants absence, I was still supervised as I spent money.
As graduation day came to an end and our families left, we packed our gear. Goodbyes were
heartfelt, as we all left to our new stations. A few months later I was settled into a new home. I lived
in Fort Huachuca, Arizona. I was finally free from any purchase supervision and able to buy what
fantasized about back in basic training. The mall was mine.
Roaming the mall, I was stopped by an older man with a crew cut hairstyle. His name was Mike and

With great excitement, I told him my tail and in return, he told his. He lured soldiers into a state of

Personal Narrative: Level II Traumas
On September 2nd 2016 my best friend, Ashley Minor, who is a single mom of two, was working
her twelve house shift at the hospital. At the end of her shift her life stopped for a short time when
she received a phone call that her 8 year old son Teagan, was hit by a car, and had multiple injuries.
I rushed to meet Ashley at the local airport where they were transporting her son by ambulance so he
could be flown out to a level II trauma unit in Fort Wayne Indiana.
Teagan suffered several broken bones, stitches, bruising, and a concussion, but thankfully he was
still alive. After a short stay in ICU, and once they were able to manage his pain, he was released to
go home. Teagan had compound fractures in both his left arm and left leg, which were both put into
casts. The cast on his left leg went all the way up to his waist, and he was confined to a wheelchair
and unable to bear any weight on his left leg. Once home, Ashley provided all of Teagan's care with
the help of her 13 year old daughter Paige.
Ashely did not allow this accident with her son to set her bac. Although she had missed time from
work and now had many unplanned medical expenses, along with trips back and forth to doctors and
surgeons, she somehow managed to go back to work when Teagan was abe to finally return to

My Favorite Career

My favorite career is the auto mechanic. The auto mechanic works on cars "correct". Well to me i
love cars. Cars are just awesome machines. Cars can get us from point A to point B. Unless you
break down. That's where i come in. If you break down or get stuck i can come and help you get out
of that pickle. Shure auto mechanics do more than just fix cars we also modify cars for example.
From what i just told you is sounds pretty fun but there are also the times where all you get to do for
a day is sit in a workshop and just inspect cars, But when you get someone who hates doing it
themselves the you can have some fun installing parts and other stuff like a turbo or two. That is
why i like the mechanic career. What would i be doing in this career you might ask well like i said in
the last paragraph. If you break down or get stuck i can come and help you get out of that pickle.

Creative Writing: The Road Trip To The Fort Wayne Mastodons
The road is tough.
It's not just the games played in front of thousands of hostile fans, but the travel for a mid–major
with long bus rides and airport layovers takes its toll too.
It's no excuse for losing games that could be won. It's a challenge that most local fans don't
understand.
To make the point of the grind the road can present, here's a glimpse at the Fort Wayne Mastodons
schedule during the recent road trip to the Dakotas.
THURSDAY NIGHT, 10:00 pm – The team arrives at the hotel following a loss at North Dakota

Fort Wayne Descriptive Writing
I am from Fort Wayne, Indiana. A small city where people have been tricked into thinking it's big. A
city that is full of close minded people that have grown up and lived in the same place for
generations on end. Growing up here has it's ups and downs. It's not just the city though, it's the
people. There is people that have never left and think they know everything. The worst part is they
are deluded into thinking that way. They actually think the negative mind set they have is correct.

The Call For A Revised Study On Secession
The call for a revised study on secession come from one of the leading historians in Walter L.
Buenger's article, "Secession Revisited: The Texas Experience." Buenger argues there exists an
extensive amount of studies on secession, but the focus of these studies centers on individual states
actions, "no one has attempted to synthesize these works and write a history of secession for the
entire South." He asserts that Texas could serve as a model if someone conducted a synthesize study
of secession for the entire South. Buenger supports this claim utilizing Terry Jordan study previously
mentioned above study on "Upper and Lower South," by outlining the attributes (culture, economic,
and political ideologies) of those found in Texas compared to the attributes found in the Upper and
Lower Southern states. Key to his analysis is his detailed description of the four political factions'
found in Texas. Radical separatists, a small group wanting to secede immediately, shared the Lower
South culture and ideology of defending Southern rights. They believe the responsibility of the
nation centers on protecting "the rights and property of the individuals." Moderate secessionists
shared the Lower South Democratic party characteristics, of the "slaveholding and cotton growing
culture." These moderates' also included some wheat growers from the Upper South and Germans
living in close proximity to the cotton growers that supported secession. Moderate unionists shared

The Importance Of Cleaning The USPS Fort Worth
Often a refresh is the first step in advocating for a building's potential. "Cleaning a building shows
people that you care," said Sarah Holder. Both the actual and perceived value of the building is
raised. Hidden gems are exposed, as the architecture's best assets are revealed in a better light. And,
significantly, it is the exterior that is the first to impress, the first to send the message that a property
is worth the investment. Holder attributes this heightened perceived value as a the positive impact of
a "clean, smiling face."

Supply Chain Management
Logistics as be defined by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals is the process of
planning, implementing, and controlling procedures for the efficient and effective transportation and
storage of goods including services, and related information from the point of origin to the point of
consumption for the purpose of conforming to customer requirements. This definition includes
inbound, outbound, internal, and external movements (Vitasek, 2013). Reverse logistics (RL), can
happen at any point within the supply chain, so therefore, RL can be defined as the process of
planning, implementing, and controlling the flow of raw materials, in–process inventory, finished
goods and related feedback from the point of consumption, the customer, to the point of origin for
the purpose of either disposal, refurbishing, reuse, or reallocation in a cost effective manner to
recapturing value.
RL has become increasingly important in the logistics community and in the United States Army it
has become one of the most important actions that supply chain managers perform. Civilian and
military logistics have the share same baseline methodology, however, the focus on logistics and
supply chain efficiency in the military has recently gained the appropriate level of importance. The
Army, in recent years has realized that focusing on RL saves money and keeps a very large
organization with an extensive supply chain moving. This paper examines the U.S. Army's RL

Sir/Madam, STRENGTHENING RETENTION, IMPROVING INCLUSION AND EXPANDING
COVERAGE IN HEALTHY FEEDING PROGRAMS ACROSS TEXAS DISTRICTS This letter
seeks to provide a detailed exposition of a multi–faceted aspect of the challenge of food insecurity in
Texas and a proposal of clear–cut practical solutions. The hope is that through the publication of this
piece, the issue will assume centre stage and attract the needed response. Over the years, notable
healthy feeding intervention programs across different government and community levels have been
channelled to Texas in response to the much–documented challenge of widespread food insecurity
across the state. These programs have contributed in varying degrees to mitigating the crisis of food
insecurity in the state (Children at Risk, 2016). However, progress in retention of beneficiaries and
expansion of coverage has remained a real challenge. For there to be a sustained substantial reversal
of food insecurity in Texas, a clear determination backed by concrete plans to remove obstacles to
continued coverage and expansion for further inclusion must be prioritized. It is important to renew
critical focus on the devastating impact of food insecurity and its vast spread in the United States in

Analysis Of Angelina County Shared Cultural Ties With...
The stats mentioned above demonstrate that a significant number of non–slaveowners resides in
Angelina. Due to the lack of financial resources to purchase slaves, they relied on their own labors
to sustain a livelihood for their homestead creating a different economy not associated with the
plantation system. The large population of non–slaveholders, "small" farms, translates to economic
and political power within this county. McCaslin argues that since the slave population had declined
to less than half of the regional average the propaganda tactics utilized in the other counties had
little effect on this county. Voters instead listened to attorney James W. Guinn chooses "to follow the
'voice of reason,' rather than that of anarchy." Although Angelina County shared cultural ties with
other Gulf southerners they "acted within the parameters set by their environment and by their
economic system." Finally, McCaslin challenges scholars seeking understanding of Unionism they
need to study the "environment and economics, that shape political allegiances." The recent study of
these Northern counties, John R. Lundberg's article, disputes the prominent narrative for why the
North Texas counties voted against secession during the secession referendum. Most historians, for
example, Buenger, cite the reasons for voting for or against secession stems from the growing Indian
raids on the exposed frontier. Also, Houston's failure to protect the settlers from those

Analysis Of The Indiana Pacers
It still feels like the dust is settling from a venturesome off–season for the Indiana Pacers.
Rebuilding is never an easy task, especially when you're basically forced to and have to trade your
best player who isn't exactly content. You add in the factor that anyone who traded for Paul George,
knew it's basically a one–year rental. For that reason, Indiana didn't receive what many people
perceive as equal value in the trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder for Paul George. The Pacers
received forward Domantas Sabonis and guard Victor Oladipo in the trade. Not an ideal package for
George, but nonetheless helps the rebuilding process with the addition of two young up–and–
coming players.

I believe those guys should make the team. Wilkins makes it based on Robinson III's injury and he
provides a defensive–minded player on the wing and a veteran presence as well.
With two spots remaining, you can then look at the young up–and–coming players. Guys that have
spent time in both the G–League and the NBA. For the final spots, it basically leaves Ike Anigbogu,
Edmond Sumner, Poythress, and Jarrod Uthoff. Out of these guys, Poythress is likely the guy who
comes out on top. He provides athleticism to an up–tempo team, not to mention spent time with the
Philadelphia 76ers last year for the final month and a half of the season.
From there it gets more and more difficult. Uthoff has a good case for himself since he spent some
time with the Dallas Mavericks last season. Both Anigbogu and Sumner are both second–round
picks. Anigbogu was selected 47th in the 2017 NBA Draft by Indiana, and Sumner was traded to
Indiana by the New Orleans Pelicans after being selected as the 52nd pick. They've all been pretty
decent throughout training camp thus far, Anigbogu has shown some conditioning concerns early on
in camp, but seems to have addressed those issues and seemingly getting into NBA shape. I believe
since he will likely play more center than anything else, that he gets the final spot to add some depth
to the front court. I'm no saying he is better than Uthoff,

Benedict Arnold: Marked as a Traitor
Benedict Arnold was an American hero. He might have even been the best general the United States
had. But during a bleak moment of envy, hurt and distrust, an admirable leader turned into a monster
that could not be turned back. When he was at his lowest, he decided to surrender West Point, a fort
that was essential to the Americans during the Revolution, over to the British. He did not succeed,
but he still managed to get away before he was caught. Arnold's name was now to be forever
associated with treachery and dishonesty (Creighton). But has anyone stopped to think why
Benedict Arnold strayed onto the path of betrayal? What led him to be disloyal to a country he had

At Saratoga, General Horatio Gates did not want to send the troops in for battle, but Arnold realized
that the time for battle was now. He took command and led them in fearlessly while General Gates
stayed back at camp (Dell 63–64). Even with his quick thinking and military smarts, Arnold did not
receive the praise he deserved after winning the Battle of Saratoga, a turning point in the American
Revolution. Arnold was denied appreciation and credit time after time. He was always passed over
for promotion, even when he clearly earned it. After he basically gave a leg for the cause (Who
Served Here?), Congress promoted five of his juniors instead of promoting him. They did advance
his rank later, but he was still below the rank of the other five. They kept declining his requests to
restore his seniority, and did not do so until after the Battle of Saratoga, a whole year later (Kirby). It
was later found out that the only reason he was not promoted much earlier was that many people
were jealous of him (Creighton). Arnold also rarely got credit for his work. For example, at Fort
Ticonderoga, he aided the Green Mountain Boys in their capture, but because Arnold got into an
argument with Colonel Easton, the announcer of the Ticonderoga victory, the Green Mountain Boys
received all the credit (Benedict Arnold). This was not just a onetime mistake, however. At Saratoga,

Fort Hood Shooting

  • 1. Fort Hood Shooting I examined the Fox News, Al–Jazeera, New York Times, and Huffington Post websites. I examined all four of these websites on April 2, 2014 between 5:30p.m and 8p.m. On the Fox News website the top story was about the Fort Hood shooting. The headline was "BREAKING NEWS: At least 4 dead, 14 injured in shooting at Fort Hood" The 'breaking news' text was in all capitals and it was bright red. The lead was "A shooting at Ft. Hood that reportedly left at least four dead –– including the shooter –– and 14 injured Wednesday was a "soldier on soldier" incident without any preliminary terrorism link, a senior Department of Homeland Security source told FoxNews.com." On the Huffington post website the top story in also about the Fort Hood shooting. The headline in "NEW FORT HOOD SHOOTING" this headline is in all caps and is also bright red. The lead is "A shooting at Fort Hood on Wednesday left at least one person dead and injured multiple people. On the New York Times website the top story was not about the Fort Hood shooting, but there was an article about it just below the main story. The headline was "Fort Hood Shooting Leaves One Dead, 14 Injured" The lead was "A shooting Wednesday night left at least four people dead and at least 14 wounded at Fort Hood, the sprawling Army facility that in 2009 was the site of the deadliest mass shootings ever at an American military base, a Texas congressman said." The main story on Al–Jazeera also wasn't about the shooting, but there was an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Fort Worth Case Study Lauren Hooper Trinity High School International Baccalaureate Program "Did the revitalization of Sundance Square influence and creation of Bass Hall benefit the popularity of art in Fort Worth?" April 9th, 2015 Abstract As there is not a whole lot known about the revitalization of Fort Worth Texas, so it is important to draw attention to the transformation of the city hiding in Texas from the beginning of Revitalization in 1979 to the end of it in 2011. Fort Worth was in economic disorder after WWII and it was seen through the crumbling state of the city... people moved from cities into suburbs and these people began shopping at strip malls rather than downtown centers. (Bernard,1). This severely affected Fort Worth's economy but this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To make Fort Worth a major center in the metropolis as it was before, and not just a part of it as the city had become, the Bass Brothers Enterprise decided to make the Bass Hall out to be the centerpiece of the Sundance Square by making it the best architecturally and aesthetically, as well as acoustically. Bass Hall is currently the permanent home of the Texas Ballet Theater, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Opera, and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and Cliburn Concerts(Bradley Hasse, 6). Before Revitalization the thought of such programs was ridiculously impossible, especially for them to be based out of Fort Worth. The Bass Brother's contribution of the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall, as the crown jewel of Sundance square to many artists and musicians all over the world due to its global recognition for being one of the top ten best opera houses in the world (Fort Worth Architecture, 1) further allotted for attention to be drawn into the city further than it already was, due to the completed Revitalization process. As stated, the building was originally rejected by the city as a tax–funded project (as taxpayers felt their money was better used elsewhere), so the millionaires were so adamant about creating the famous hall at the time that the ... • 9. Analysis Of Carson Mccullers 's Reflections The setting is an integral part of any good story, and especially so within the Gothic genre. From the endless varieties and specificities of haunted houses and physical and mental loneliness to the invasion of the domestic space and invasion of the natural environment, the Gothic genre relies on the setting. Not only do Gothic settings provide various moods for the audience and help shape the characters story arcs, they help the audience better understand the characters. Some stories can happen in a specific setting, yet can be replicated anywhere; the story of a haunted house not only occurs in a certain kind of domestic space, it instills in the audience the fear that any domestic space could be host to the events of the story. But the story and characters in Carson McCullers's Reflections in a Golden Eye are dependent on their specific setting. The general setting of the South automatically allows the audience to understand every character to a certain degree, but that's not the most important part of the setting; McCullers's story is dependent on its location of an army base, a specific yet repeated place that can be found across the United States. The physical base itself, and the social and emotional environments of the army, shape how the characters see themselves, each other, and their actions. The combination of the rural American South and a large yet isolated army base cultivate a specific environment that are crucial to the events that unfold in Reflections in a ... • 17. A Interview On Fort Wayne Community Schools As An... INTERVIEW PROJECT INDIANA UNIVERSITY–PURDUE UNIVERSITY FORT WAYNE HSRV 10000 LINDSEY A MARQUARDT MARCH 13, 2015 INTRODUCTION I used to work for Fort Wayne Community Schools as an assistant teacher for an elementary school. I know there are several Human Services Professionals who are riddled throughout the various facilities in our area. I was able to secure an interview with the school counselor at Towles Montessori/New Tech Middle School. The school counselor's name is Joyce Paige. She has been in the school system for the past 20 years and seen many different changes within the Family and Marriage therapy. I was interested in the many things we discussed and a few of the suggested questions led me to ask some questions of my own. The interview occurred at 8:30 am in the Main Office of Towles Montessori. It began with discussing the education needed to obtain a certification or license as an Educational Counselor. As it turns out, an individual does not need to major in psychology during their undergraduate; however, one does need to complete a Master's Degree in the Sciences in whatever area of expertise the individual wants to focus on within their future career. In her case, she obtained a Master's Degree in Educational Counseling. During her time in the Master's Program, the courses that really made an impact were family and marriage and roughly 300 hours of clinical. The program she attended was a three year, year round program. After she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Why Is John Wayne A Good Role Model John Wayne One of the most famous western movie stars in the mid–1900's, John Wayne did not let his small beginnings stop him from reaching his goals. He worked long and hard to reach his place in history as the western star he was, and still is today. John Wayne's hard work, determination, and the ability to achieve his goals, made him a great actor, person, and role model. John Wayne's original name was Marion Robert Morrison, who was born on May 26, 1907, in Winterset, Iowa. His parents were Mary Alberta Brown and Clyde Leonard Morrison. John had one brother, Robert Morrison. His father, Clyde, developed a lung condition that required him to move his family to the warmer climates of California when John was just seven. Clyde started ranching and farming in the Mojave Desert, but did not succeed. The family moved again, to Glendale, California where his father opened a pharmacy, in which John helped manage in the summer. He also did many strange jobs to earn money, such as trucker's helper and delivery boy. John had a famous nickname, "Duke." This nickname came from the family dog, an Airedale, named, "Duke." John and Duke spent so much time together; people started calling Ussery 2 them, "Big and Little Duke." Sadly, in 1926, his parents divorced, John stayed with his father, Clyde. In school, John excelled in school and at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first film he made was Angel and Barman in 1947. The Us Army 's Doctrine The US Army's Doctrine Reference Publication (ADRP) 5–0 provides a comprehensive overview of how the Army plans operations, expanding upon its doctrine publication (ADP) 5–0, The Operations Process. This and other doctrine materials are produced by the Army's Combined Arms Doctrine Directorate, United States Army Combined Arms Center (CAC) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Most famously, then CAC Commander Lt. General David Petraeus, before his later ignominious downfall as Director of CIA, spearheaded the production in 2006 of Army Field Manual FM 3–24, Counterinsurgency. Ft. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within Design, planners will 1) frame the Environment by analyzing the current state and the desired end state, 2) frame the problem by determining obstacles in the way to achieving the desired end state, 3) develop an operational approach, and 4) produce a plan. MDMP is an "iterative planning methodology to understand the situation and mission, develop a course of action, and produce an operational plan or order". MDMP consists of Mission analysis, course of action (COA) development, COA analysis (War Gaming), COA Comparison, COA approval and order/plan drafting. According to ADRP 5–0, a Commander may choose to pursue design methodologies in parallel with MDMP, before MDMP, or indeed after. The sequencing of these planning activities is Commander/leadership–dependent and ADRP 5–0, for a doctrinal publication, is replete with mentions of flexibility, adaptability, and critical and creative thinking; these attributes and capabilities being required for the effective Commander and planning staff. A key, and at times controversial, element within operational art is the concept of a center of gravity (COG). As Crumpton pointed out with regard to early CIA/US mil efforts in Afghanistan following 9/11, the accurate identification of the center of gravity (in that case in the psyches of Taliban leadership) and skillful ... • 33. Battle of Fort Sumter Essay Fort Sumter is located in Charleston, South Carolina. The fort is in Charleston's harbor. The fort was not even complete when war broke out. This was a big turning point for the United States of America. It separated the north from the south and in some cases it separated families. This war would impact how the United States saw slavery. Fort Wayne was considered as a crossroad by early settlers and Native Americans because of its locational value at the converging point of the three rivers; the St. Mary's, the St. Joseph, and the Maumee Rivers. The city of Fort Wayne is named after General "Mad" Anthony Wayne. He was a bold leader in the military, who established the first American fort. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This book described the horrifying conditions in the stockyards and meatpacking industry. The story depicts a young man and woman who have recently immigrated to Chicago from Lithuania. They have a wedding feast at a bar in Packingown. The couple and some of their relatives go to Chicago for a better life but Packingtown, the center of the city's meatpacking industry, is dangerous, filthy, and hard. It was also difficult to find a job. The couple become a hundred dollars in debt to the saloonkeeper and Jurgis has faith in the American dream that he could just work harder to make more money. They go through struggles with hard laboring jobs such as digging freight tunnels (which resulting in him going to the hospital), getting arrested because of attacking a man for not giving him correct change, he starts to commit crimes such as burglaries and soon gets recruited to work for a corrupt political boss. His spirit soon gets crushed by misery and wanders into a socialist political rally which fills Jurgis with inspiration through a speech. He finds a job as a porter at a socialist run hotel and later reunites with wife. This story is filled with signs of corruption and immorality. A big symbol in this story was the animals and slaughterhouses of Packingtown which represent the working class. Just like the animals were killed with impunity, made to suffer and had no choice about their fate, so were thousands of immigrant workers who lived in poverty. They were forced into capitalism. Women Should Be Legal For Combat Women should be allowed to serve in combat roles in the military Some argue that women should not serve in combat because; they have never served in any type of combat operations in the history of the American military. Positions in the military have been designed specifically for women and how they perform their duties. No evidence can be produced that women have the abilities, physical strength, or motivation to engage in combat operations, the physical differences from their male counterparts are so extreme; women cannot maintain the agility or psychological confidence that men are capable of displaying during extreme combat stress. However, this thinking misses the point. History has shown as far back as the Revolutionary War, women such as Molly Pitcher, who took up her husband's position as an artillery gunner, after he was injured in combat. More recently during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have had many women put into stressful combat situations, with very little training, and were able to engage the enemy effectively, and in some cases displayed courageous actions that saved lives. They were able to physically and mentally handle the combat stress equally with their male counterparts. Several women have also recently been allowed to attend advanced combat training, such as the U.S. Army Ranger School. Additionally, with much opposition to women serving in combat units, the Department of Defense has recently opened all combat related positions including ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Beginning with The Great Train Robbery in 1903, Western films have gained international many parts of Europe and Mexico in addition to the United States. One classic example of a Western feature (full length) film is True Grit (1969), which stars John Wayne as the strong, memorable protagonist, Rooster Cogburn. Although the film follows many filmic conventions regarding the formula of the Western genre, it also defies certain conventions, thus serving as an example of a revisionist Western. These qualities also carry over into the recent remake, True Grit (2010), which contains the same plot as the original while making use of modern cinematic techniques in order to make the film more exciting, dramatic and accessible for a modern audience. Prior to the release of True Grit (1969), John Wayne had played starring roles in countless other Western films, including Stagecoach (1939) and The Searchers (1956). By the 1960s, John Wayne gained vast recognition among many audiences as the definitive celluloid icon of the American Western. John Wayne?s popularity within Hollywood grew largely during the 1950s, during the rise of revisionist western films. In addition, the film?s setting is consistent with previous films in the genre. Not only does Pollan travel to the places where John Chapman lived back in the 19th century, but also does a great deal of research on the apple in order to have a more educated conclusion on the "environmentalist's" persona. He also points out that the apples that we eat are strictly from grafted trees, therefore the seeds that Chapman was planting would produce apples so bitter and sour that they would only be edible in the form of hard apple cider. Furthermore, if much of Chapman's business was focused around the production of trees to make cider then the essence of his story is completely altered. • 110. Fort Wayne Descriptive Writing I am from Fort Wayne, Indiana. A small city where people have been tricked into thinking it's big. A city that is full of close minded people that have grown up and lived in the same place for generations on end. Growing up here has it's ups and downs. It's not just the city though, it's the people. There is people that have never left and think they know everything. The worst part is they are deluded into thinking that way. They actually think the negative mind set they have is correct. For whatever reason those people gave up on their dreams and doing what they love. A city full of people with no long term goals or dreams. But, it is still my hometown. If you ever come here the nightlife is the best part about Fort Wayne. Whether it's going ... • 118. The Call For A Revised Study On Secession The call for a revised study on secession come from one of the leading historians in Walter L. Buenger's article, "Secession Revisited: The Texas Experience." Buenger argues there exists an extensive amount of studies on secession, but the focus of these studies centers on individual states actions, "no one has attempted to synthesize these works and write a history of secession for the entire South." He asserts that Texas could serve as a model if someone conducted a synthesize study of secession for the entire South. Buenger supports this claim utilizing Terry Jordan study previously mentioned above study on "Upper and Lower South," by outlining the attributes (culture, economic, and political ideologies) of those found in Texas compared to the attributes found in the Upper and Lower Southern states. Key to his analysis is his detailed description of the four political factions' found in Texas. Radical separatists, a small group wanting to secede immediately, shared the Lower South culture and ideology of defending Southern rights. They believe the responsibility of the nation centers on protecting "the rights and property of the individuals." Moderate secessionists shared the Lower South Democratic party characteristics, of the "slaveholding and cotton growing culture." These moderates' also included some wheat growers from the Upper South and Germans living in close proximity to the cotton growers that supported secession. Moderate unionists shared ... "Cleaning a building shows people that you care," said Sarah Holder. Both the actual and perceived value of the building is raised. Hidden gems are exposed, as the architecture's best assets are revealed in a better light. And, significantly, it is the exterior that is the first to impress, the first to send the message that a property is worth the investment. Holder attributes this heightened perceived value as a the positive impact of a "clean, smiling face." • 131. Supply Chain Management Logistics as be defined by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals is the process of planning, implementing, and controlling procedures for the efficient and effective transportation and storage of goods including services, and related information from the point of origin to the point of consumption for the purpose of conforming to customer requirements. This definition includes inbound, outbound, internal, and external movements (Vitasek, 2013). Reverse logistics (RL), can happen at any point within the supply chain, so therefore, RL can be defined as the process of planning, implementing, and controlling the flow of raw materials, in–process inventory, finished goods and related feedback from the point of consumption, the customer, to the point of origin for the purpose of either disposal, refurbishing, reuse, or reallocation in a cost effective manner to recapturing value. RL has become increasingly important in the logistics community and in the United States Army it has become one of the most important actions that supply chain managers perform. Civilian and military logistics have the share same baseline methodology, however, the focus on logistics and supply chain efficiency in the military has recently gained the appropriate level of importance. The Army, in recent years has realized that focusing on RL saves money and keeps a very large organization with an extensive supply chain moving. University of North Texas Health Science Centre School of Public Health, Fort Worth, Texas, EOHS 5313 The Editor, Fort Worth Star–Telegram, 400 West Seventh Street, Fort Worth, Texas Sir/Madam, STRENGTHENING RETENTION, IMPROVING INCLUSION AND EXPANDING COVERAGE IN HEALTHY FEEDING PROGRAMS ACROSS TEXAS DISTRICTS This letter seeks to provide a detailed exposition of a multi–faceted aspect of the challenge of food insecurity in Texas and a proposal of clear–cut practical solutions. The hope is that through the publication of this piece, the issue will assume centre stage and attract the needed response. Over the years, notable healthy feeding intervention programs across different government and community levels have been channelled to Texas in response to the much–documented challenge of widespread food insecurity across the state. These programs have contributed in varying degrees to mitigating the crisis of food insecurity in the state (Children at Risk, 2016). However, progress in retention of beneficiaries and expansion of coverage has remained a real challenge. For there to be a sustained substantial reversal of food insecurity in Texas, a clear determination backed by concrete plans to remove obstacles to continued coverage and expansion for further inclusion must be prioritized. It is important to renew critical focus on the devastating impact of food insecurity and its vast spread in the United States in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to the lack of financial resources to purchase slaves, they relied on their own labors to sustain a livelihood for their homestead creating a different economy not associated with the plantation system. The large population of non–slaveholders, "small" farms, translates to economic and political power within this county. McCaslin argues that since the slave population had declined to less than half of the regional average the propaganda tactics utilized in the other counties had little effect on this county. Voters instead listened to attorney James W. Guinn chooses "to follow the 'voice of reason,' rather than that of anarchy." Although Angelina County shared cultural ties with other Gulf southerners they "acted within the parameters set by their environment and by their economic system." Finally, McCaslin challenges scholars seeking understanding of Unionism they need to study the "environment and economics, that shape political allegiances." The recent study of these Northern counties, John R. Lundberg's article, disputes the prominent narrative for why the North Texas counties voted against secession during the secession referendum. Most historians, for example, Buenger, cite the reasons for voting for or against secession stems from the growing Indian raids on the exposed frontier. • 143. Analysis Of The Indiana Pacers It still feels like the dust is settling from a venturesome off–season for the Indiana Pacers. Rebuilding is never an easy task, especially when you're basically forced to and have to trade your best player who isn't exactly content. You add in the factor that anyone who traded for Paul George, knew it's basically a one–year rental. For that reason, Indiana didn't receive what many people perceive as equal value in the trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder for Paul George. The Pacers received forward Domantas Sabonis and guard Victor Oladipo in the trade. Not an ideal package for George, but nonetheless helps the rebuilding process with the addition of two young up–and– coming players. Coming into pre–season, the Pacers have a few players ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe those guys should make the team. Wilkins makes it based on Robinson III's injury and he provides a defensive–minded player on the wing and a veteran presence as well. With two spots remaining, you can then look at the young up–and–coming players. Guys that have spent time in both the G–League and the NBA. For the final spots, it basically leaves Ike Anigbogu, Edmond Sumner, Poythress, and Jarrod Uthoff. Out of these guys, Poythress is likely the guy who comes out on top. He provides athleticism to an up–tempo team, not to mention spent time with the Philadelphia 76ers last year for the final month and a half of the season. From there it gets more and more difficult. Uthoff has a good case for himself since he spent some time with the Dallas Mavericks last season. Both Anigbogu and Sumner are both second–round picks. Anigbogu was selected 47th in the 2017 NBA Draft by Indiana, and Sumner was traded to Indiana by the New Orleans Pelicans after being selected as the 52nd pick. They've all been pretty decent throughout training camp thus far, Anigbogu has shown some conditioning concerns early on in camp, but seems to have addressed those issues and seemingly getting into NBA shape. I believe since he will likely play more center than anything else, that he gets the final spot to add some depth to the front court. I'm no saying he is better than Uthoff, ... Throughout my fourteen year military career I have been shown many good and bad examples of how a leader should act to turn their visions into reality. It is from these very leaders that I too have learned to become a leader myself and it has helped me further my career. It however took time and experience for my leadership skills to develop. Throughout this paper I will show how my military experiences has taught me to become a good leader. All of them whether good or bad helped shape my career. These leaders helped me to see a bigger picture of who I wanted to become and and also how I didn 't want to lead. On our return home from deployment we were treated like heroes. People at the airport cheered for us and expressed their gratitude for our service and sacrifice for our country. In those moments I felt a great sense of accomplishment that almost made it all worth wile. And it made me also want to become better leader so I could go out there and do it again for my country. After being back home for seven months we received news that we were going right back to Iraq. This time with a new wheeled fighting platform "strikers", to which I was more than happy to raise my hand and ask Uncle Sam to put me in for five more years. Throughout this deployment I noticed some progress compared to the last deployment to Iraq. Although, the Improvised Explosive Device (IED), small arms fire, and the mortar attacks remain unchanged. • 151. Benedict Arnold: Marked as a Traitor Benedict Arnold was an American hero. He might have even been the best general the United States had. But during a bleak moment of envy, hurt and distrust, an admirable leader turned into a monster that could not be turned back. When he was at his lowest, he decided to surrender West Point, a fort that was essential to the Americans during the Revolution, over to the British. He did not succeed, but he still managed to get away before he was caught. Arnold's name was now to be forever associated with treachery and dishonesty (Creighton). But has anyone stopped to think why Benedict Arnold strayed onto the path of betrayal? What led him to be disloyal to a country he had fought with since the French and Indian War? No one retaliates to an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At Saratoga, General Horatio Gates did not want to send the troops in for battle, but Arnold realized that the time for battle was now. He took command and led them in fearlessly while General Gates stayed back at camp (Dell 63–64). Even with his quick thinking and military smarts, Arnold did not receive the praise he deserved after winning the Battle of Saratoga, a turning point in the American Revolution. Arnold was denied appreciation and credit time after time. He was always passed over for promotion, even when he clearly earned it. After he basically gave a leg for the cause (Who Served Here?), Congress promoted five of his juniors instead of promoting him. They did advance his rank later, but he was still below the rank of the other five. They kept declining his requests to restore his seniority, and did not do so until after the Battle of Saratoga, a whole year later (Kirby). It was later found out that the only reason he was not promoted much earlier was that many people were jealous of him (Creighton). Arnold also rarely got credit for his work. For example, at Fort Ticonderoga, he aided the Green Mountain Boys in their capture, but because Arnold got into an argument with Colonel Easton, the announcer of the Ticonderoga victory, the Green Mountain Boys received all the credit (Benedict Arnold). This was not just a onetime mistake, however. At Saratoga, Arnold was obviously the person who saved America ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
