The State Terror in Taiwan
The term terrorism is generally linked with images from September 11 and other attacks targeted on
innocent civilians done by terrorist individuals and sub–sate group to influence state's policy
nowadays. Terrorists are portrayed as evil and unlawful while states represent the justice and
legitimate side that against it. According to Jackson(2011: , more than 80 percent of the academic
articles are dealing with non–state terrorism. However, as described by Jackson(2011: 228–9 in
Jackson, R., Murphy, E. & Poynting, S.), state terrorism is "...a political phenomenon in the
contemporary international system" and is "employed by almost every kind of state". As claimed by
Grant (2010:11–2), Terrorism is an political strategy that had been used frequently throughout the
history, human condition, but the modern variety with all the technology improvement, but it is not
until the 19th century, with help of technology improvement and start of the colonisation, that
terrorism started to gain public consciousness as states adopted violent political strategies to rule
their colonies. According to Law (2009: 160–1, 171–5), State terrorism is one of the biggest sources
of human suffering and destruction. It is stated that state terrorism leaves traces while state terror
doesn't, but this essay will argued that state terror might not be remembered by the general public
but it still subconsciously has psychological effect on the citizens. This above theory will be
discussed in this essay by a

This is an attempt to unravel the tangle by an objective and empirical examination of information
from crime scene and post mortem examination of the victims. Pre–digested information such as
speculative newspaper reports, and statements from witnesses other than those called in a
professional capacity have been avoided since theirs is largely subjective testimony that confounds
more than it informs.
I have not attempted to identify a named suspect as a consequence of my conclusions. In the course
of an objective appraisal it is quite wrong to start with a suspect and then attempt to make the facts
fit as so many later day investigators have done. Such an approach unavoidably leads to a skewed
interpretation. I have, however, given a broad idea as to the type of man that Jack the Ripper may
have been, and although such a summary may be of use to others, it lies firmly in the realm of

Lack Search In Section 213 Of The Patriot Act
The sneak and peek search is provided in Section 213 of the Patriot Act. A sneak–and– peek warrant
allows the police to lawfully investigate in a premises and delay in notifying the suspect that they
are about to conduct a search. The sneak–and– peek is referred to as counterterrorism, but it is also
used in criminal investigations. That includes law enforcement sneaking in the house unnoticed
utilizing the no–knock policy. The police carrying out the sneak–and– peek search often do not
leave a copy of notice that they have conducted the search, including whatever they may have found
during the search. The main reason why law enforcement does not notify the individual or leave a
copy of the notice, is because it may jeopardize the investigation ... Show more content on

This search is not only conducted for households, but also other buildings such as a "terrorist cell"
or even a vehicle. For example, a suspect in Buffalo had his car searched and the agents utilized a
delay–notice warrant in which they used a duplicate key to take the suspect's car without the suspect
noticing. The DEA agent left traces behind as if the suspect's car was broken into and stolen. It is
also important to notice that the suspect must be informed eventually about the warrant being issued
against them, but that could last up to days, months or years (DeRosa, 2005). However, according to
the 2006 Amendment of the Patriot Act, a thirty day notice is mandatory unless the agent or officer
extend the notice by providing further facts and information to the judge. Before the attacks on 9/11,
sneak and peek searches did not involve the inspection of files, documents and pictures in the home,
but Section 213 expands the scope of these searches (Lippman,

Essay On Mold Fossils
Mold fossils come from a process called authigenic preservation; a process which leaves a negative
impression, or indent, of an organism in rock after the organism itself has deteriorated. Sand or mud
covers the deceased organism and, over time, that sand or mud hardens into rock, encasing the
organism. The organism continues to decay, eventually leaving only an imprint. Entire organisms,
partial organisms, or even traces of the passing of organisms can leave mold fossils. Cast fossils
occur when mold fossils are filled in with minerals that harden over time, creating a fossilized
replica of the original organism. Water seeps through the rock surrounding the mold fossil, leaving
behind minerals which fill the mold. The minerals harden, taking ... Show more content on

Plant fossils and trilobites are often found as casts and molds. Most molds and casts do not contain
the actual remains of an organism. Shells, bone, and wood often form as molds or casts. Dinosaur
footprints can also be classified as mold fossils. Shells can make an imprint in sand, and under
certain conditions such an imprint might be preserved and then filled in. Trace fossils can form if
two conditions are met. First, the activity has to take place in a material that will hold its form (like
mud or clay). Second, the evidence of the activity has to be well preserved (often by being buried
quickly). Common activities that are captured in time as these conditions are met include walking
and running (footprint fossils), burrowing (organisms homes can be frozen in time through
petrification), and defecating. The animals speed, length of stride, and whether they walked on two
or four legs. The bones structure of the foot and the stalking behavior (a carnivore hunting a herd of
herbivores). The existence of dinosaur herds and stampedes. How the tail is carried (few tail tracks
have been found, so tails were probably held above the ground). Speed, the length of stride and

ORGANIC AND INORGANIC CONSTITUENT IN ESSENTIAL IN PLANTS AND NUTRIENTS
REQUIRED TO PLANTS
Organic constituent
DEFINITION
An organ, system, or other discrete element of an organism the part of the plant that carries out
photosynthesis.
EXPLANATION: The chemical compounds of living things are known as organic compounds
because of their association with organisms. Organic compounds, which are the compounds
associated with life processes, are the subject matter of organic chemistry. Among the numerous
types of organic compounds, four major categories are found in all living things: carbohydrates,
lipids, protein, and nucleic acids.
Carbohydrates
Almost all organisms use carbohydrates as sources of energy. In addition, some carbohydrates ...

needed, not the size of the nutrient particles themselves. Other nutrients, called micronutrients, are
required only in trace amounts for plants to remain healthy. Such micronutrients are usually
absorbed as ions dissolved in water taken from the soil, though carnivorous plants acquire some of
their micronutrients from captured prey. The following tables list element nutrients essential to
plants. Uses within plants are generalized.

Fossils Research Paper
Secrets in the Soil Paleontologists search for "secrets" under the earth. Many search for years on
their quest for fossils. Fossils provide details about life on earth long before man was present. It's
important to know what fossils are, how they are made and how to find fossils in order to learn
about early life forms. Fossils are preserved remains of plants and animals that have to be 10,000
years or older to truly be considered a fossil. Over that time, minerals replace the bones.
Paleontologists, hikers, and casual scientists find them, and study them. There are two types of
fossils; body and trace. Body fossils are the preserved remains of an animal or plant, while trace
fossils are the remains ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over time, the outside of the plant or animal decays, and leaves only bone. Minerals then can
replace the bone, or the bone can dissolve. The rock then fills the empty space, and leaves an imprint
of the fossil. The best fossils were formed in or near bodies of water. Plant fossils are rarer than
animal fossils because they have to be covered completely after death, and all oxygen has to be
removed almost immediately for the fossilization process to begin; otherwise, the plants soft
material decays too quickly. Plants can also be trapped in amber, which is the sap of a tree that
hardens. When this happens, the sap preserves the plant perfectly. Some types of plant fossils found
are: Glossopteris SP in Australia, Seed Fern in West Virginia, and the cone of a Club Moss Tree in
the United Kingdom. Animal fossils, though they can be rare, are more common than plant fossils,
and fossilize similarly. Animals have to be covered quickly by mud or buried in a sand storm. They
then decay, and the bones are replaced with rock like minerals. Some examples of animal fossils
found are: the Bear Dog, the Dinonyus, and the Moropus. All of which are very similar to now–a–

Mr Brooks Film Analysis
With the second murder, the process is very similar to the first one, in that Mr. Brooks is able to
effortlessly break into the apartment, seeming to cut through wires to get through the security
system and the door. The same approach to wearing a specific serial killer outfit and planning to
burn it afterwards ensures that there is no trace left of him at the scene that can be detrimental, and
Mr. Brooks does not take any actions that would leave any other trace of him. Obviously, the trace
that is left at the second crime scene is when Mr. Baffert urinated and left a puddle on the ground,
which only helps Mr. Brooks as to fooling the police to think that Mr. Baffert is the thumbprint
killer. Mr. Brooks seems to pull of the second murder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brooks's entrance of the murder locations probably would not be as smooth as shown in the movie.
The machine cutting the wires in the apartment complex is loud, and there is a chance of him being
spotted at all of his murder locations. These are the only flaws for Mr. Brooks, and he was in fact
seen by someone else, Mr. Baffert, at the first murder. While in the movie's events Mr. Brooks is
flawless, these actions in fact are not necessarily perfect, but it did not matter for the movie, as he
was never caught. There are many unanswered questions and missing scenes in the film to fully
answer the question of whether Mr. Brooks is a perfect serial killer, so with what the film does
present, Mr. Brooks is perfect in that regard, while not perfect in reality. While Mr. Brooks leaves a
lot of possibility open for him to be caught, the movie does not allow for this, and Mr. Brooks is
perfect in the regard of properly cleaning up the crime scene location and having police that are not
very detailed. The flaws are outside of what is shown in the movie, in the efforts to enter and exit
the crime scene and the various details that may have not been seen by police and the film viewers.
Moreover, the many missing details include what Mr. Brooks may have done with the shovel at the
end, and how isolated the cemetery really was from others not seeing the crime. Arguably, the last
murder is the one with the least details in the film, as it was revealed at the last minute that Mr.
Brooks own this cemetery and can effortlessly kill Mr. Baffert there without anybody ever finding
out. Such a plot twist once again ensures that Mr. Brooks is perfect according to the

How Camping Can Be A Responsible Camper While You Enjoy...
Camping is a fun, low cost way to enjoy the summer with family and friends. Here are a few tips
that will help you be a responsible camper while you enjoy the wild. 1. For bug repellent try
citronella candles and Avon "Skin So Soft" instead of toxic chemical insect repellents. 2. Wear long
sleeves and long pants at dawn and dusk when insects are most active. 3. Stay on trails to protect
habitat and avoid snake encounters. Snakes sense vibrations, so walking with a buddy or a group is
not only wise, it will announce your presence to snakes who just want to avoid encountering YOU!
4. Invest in a good sleeping pad, or at the least, put an exercise mat under your sleeping bag. 5.
Block ice lasts longer than bagged ice. Make your own at home by filling milk jugs or water bottles.
The less you open the cooler, the longer the ice will last. 6. Never hang lanterns on trees because the
heat can cause serious harm. 7. Pack a small plastic bucket for dish washing and never use the
bathhouse sink for this task. 8. Hungry critters can be very clever and destructive. Keep food locked
in vehicles or tied up in trees. 9. Freeze chili, soups and stews in zip lock bags, then heat them after
they thaw. The frozen bags help keep ice from melting in the cooler. Rice and pasta can also be
cooked ahead of time and reheated on a camp stove. 10. Pita pockets keep their shape better than
loaf bread. 11. Disposable water bottles make great dispensers for salad dressings and sauces. 12.

Are Leave No Trace Principles Effective? Essay
Are Leave No Trace Principles Effective?
Leave No Trace is philosophy of seven concepts that help minimize human recreational impact on
wild lands. As wilderness recreation has become more popular, and the National Wilderness
Preservation System has increased its wilderness lands from 9.1 million acres in 54 wildernesses in
1964 to 104 million acres in 628 wildernesses in 19991, the need for guidelines to help reduce
degradation of these lands has become increasingly important. In 1979 Jim Bradley wrote about the
need for an educational approach for managing recreation impacts instead of regulations that
antagonize the public rather than win their support2. Teaching good practices is more effective than
imposing strict regulations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Durable surfaces include established trails and campsites, rock, gravel, dry grasses or snow. These
are generally areas with less life and organic material. Obtaining information about the location of
fragile areas or how to identify mating, nesting and spawning areas is useful and important for
protecting these areas. Generally, if there is a trail, stay on it. If there are established campsites,
camp there. If not, camp a good distance away from other tents, cook a good distance away from
your tent, and leave backpacks leaning against trees or rocks a good distance away from your tent
(make sure all food is stored properly so as not to attract animals!). These practices help minimize
the effects of trampling in one area.
If you are traveling through pristine wild lands with no trail, spreading out is often an effective way
of minimizing repeated impact on one path. Traveling off trail might not be appropriate at all in
certain circumstances such as in Pisgah National Forest of North Carolina where Golden Mountain
Heather grows on a few rocky ledges, but does not grow anywhere else in the world3. Research
shows that trampling causes a curvilinear response between the amount of trampling and damage to
vegetation and soil. For example, on campsites in Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, 95% of
the total loss of tree seedlings and 61% of the increase in soil

How Is Diction Used In The Great Gatsby

darkness in one's life when one tries everything in his power to be with someone and it does not

Diction is the word choice that controls tone and mood. Gatsby spends all of his time trying to be

Daisy and did everything to be with her so when it did not work out, he had nothing. This created
the tone and mood of emptiness and loneliness. Another example of the mood created after Daisy

careless people, Tom and Daisy–they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into
their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other
people clean up the mass they made..." (Chapter 9) This represents that Tom and Daisy do not take
responsibility for their actions and let others clean up after them after leaving to go to Europe. This
creates tone and mood of carelessness and facade. Tom and Daisy do not appear to be who they are
and this leads to emptiness and

Uses for Trace Evidence in Forsensic Science
There are various uses for trace evidence in forensic science. Trace evidence can include a variety of
disciplines including hair, paint, fiber, rope, soil, glass, and building materials. According to
Locard's Exchange Principle, every contact leaves a trace. Whenever a criminal comes in contact
with a victim, there is an exchange of materials between the two. When discovered, this exchange
can provide key evidence in a case. Paul Kirk (1974) states in his book Crime Investigation, "
Wherever he steps, whatever he touches, whatever he leaves, even unconsciously, will serve as
silent evidence against him" (p.2). Without even knowing it a criminal can leave behind physical
evidence that can be used to build a case against him. Without examining the trace materials left
behind by these transfers, some crimes would never be found. Trace evidence has been an important
aspect of the criminal justice system for a long period of time. The first recognition of this type of
evidence arouse from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's short stories starring Sherlock Holmes. Holmes used
hair, soil, and various other trace elements to connect criminals to crimes. In 1910 when Edmond
Locard began the first forensic laboratory, DNA fingerprinting had not yet been discovered. The first
conviction of a criminal based on DNA evidence did not take place until 1987. This means that
physical evidence played a part in catching criminals for about seventy–seven years before DNA

that I've read by James Patterson. I think this book is very cool and unique, because it doesn't give
the killer's name and motive at the end, like most murder books. The author switches the chapters
between the detective's perspective, and the killer's perspective, so that you know each trace that the
killer leaves behind, and every clue that the detectives picks up, and at the end everything unfolds
into a brilliant ending. I think this book is called hope to die, because the killer, Thierry Mulch, takes

The employment situation was even worse for women and it is little wonder that many had no
alternative but to resort to prostitution as a source of income.
The newspapers of the day were as colourful and inaccurate in much of their editorial reporting as
the police forensic investigations were limited through lack of investigative techniques. Even the
identification of bodies was dependent largely upon facial recognition, distinguishing marks, or
papers on the corpse. Misidentification of bodies, either by accident or design, especially those
subject to decomposition and including the very many corpses pulled from the Thames, must have
been commonplace.
Fingerprinting was still in the process of being developed. A classification scheme appeared in 1901
and first used in a trial in the UK in 1902. Dental records were non–existent and blood grouping
only developed after the identification of the different types in 1901. From that it became possible to
serologically identify other body fluids. DNA was not discovered until 1953 and the unique
identification of individuals by DNA profiling did not follow until 1985. In 1910, an important

Reflection Paper On Rock Climbing
Reflection Paper #3 During Week 3, we started our day on the bad side due to the lack of sleep, and
the change of weather. Throughout the day our energy level improved as the day went on. The field
activity for the day included rock climbing. Discussion of group dynamics, rock climbing technique
and leave no traces were brought up through out the day.
Group Dynamic The group dynamic was really off since the morning started. Everyone was gloomy
and sleepy. I know that I personally slept for four hours the night before . Which leads me to almost
thought about just coming to class two hours late just because of how unmotivated my mindset was
at the time. Even in the group setting, it was not just me who was low on morale, it was everyone in
class too. This can affect our group's energy and it lowered morale and excitement within the rank.
Sitting inside and listening to presentation all day long do not help . The idea of going out and
moving around have help with our engird level. This is useful for leading group in time of low
energy like what we went through that day. When it came to lunch time, people were feeling better
due to having food in our system, and the active hand on cooking hlep made us more active. With
food in our tummy, we were able to feel the energy to participate in our rock climbing.

Essay On Slip In Nb
h. Active Slip Systems in Nb
Slip during plastic deformation is the underlying mechanism that accounts for many of the
phenomena previously discussed. This section will cover fundamental studies on slip in Nb, along
with general theories on deformation in bcc metals.
In the cavity fabrication process, crystal orientations, active slip systems, dislocation sub–structure,
and recrystallization during annealing are interrelated from the metallurgical point of view [20] –
slip behavior depends on how crystals are oriented with respect to the applied stress; slip and
interactions of slip systems result in a certain dislocation substructure; the dislocation substructure
determines how recovery and recrystallization proceed during heat ... Show more content on

Since the motion of screw dislocations is thermally activated, it will likely occur by nucleation of
kink pairs on well–defined atomic planes [70]. The kink pair nucleation mechanism gives rise to the
temperature and strain rate dependence of flow stresses in bcc metals [70].
The low mobility of bcc screw dislocations can be partly explained by the core relaxation theory
[48, 72–76]. A bcc screw dislocation core tends to spread onto three symmetric {110} or {112}
planes, which results in a non–planar core structure and hinders the movement of screw dislocations
[70]. Consequently, screw dislocation mobility is affected by non–glide shear stresses, which is a
violation of the Schmid law. The relaxation also adds to the waviness of slip traces, as cross slip can
occur on two alternating {110} or {112} planes to roughly follow a slip plane with a high resolved
shear stress. Thus, long and drawn–out screw dislocations are usually left behind during plastic
deformation and are observable [48].
There has been no consensus thus far regarding the core structure of screw dislocations in Nb, but it
is generally agreed that the core relaxation depends on both the temperature and purity [70, 77–79].
Seeger argued that fundamental slip planes change from {110} at low temperatures ( slip systems
could leave behind sessile dislocations with the resulting Burgers vector on a

founder of the Institute of Criminalistics at the University of Lyon, France, developed what has
become known as Locard's Exchange Principle. This states that every contact leaves a trace (Trace
Evidence). Trace evidence can consist of just about anything. Some types of trace evidence include
but are not limited to hair, blood and other body fluids, paint, glass, and residues. Throughout the
years, trace evidence has become very important in the conviction and even the exoneration of those
accused of certain crimes.
In 1910 Locard founded the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sperm or semen evidence at a crime scene is usually evidence of a suspected sexual assault. As with
bloodstain evidence, semen evidence can also help in identifying perpetrators. Saliva evidence
cannot usually be seen from visual examination. Saliva evidence is usually retrieved from another
piece of evidence such as cigarette butts, gummed surfaces of envelopes, chewing gum, bite marks,
ski and/or nylon masks. Saliva evidence can also be useful in helping to find a suspect. Once it is
determined that bio evidence is present, if the object containing the biological fluid can be taken in
whole to be processed, it is bagged and labeled as usual. However, if the evidence is on something
that cannot be transported, then a swab is taken to gather a sample.
The proper gathering, handling and processing of trace evidence is a vital part of any investigation.
Because not all cases are cut and dry, the criminals are not caught in the act, having the proper
evidence can speak volumes. As stated previously, hair, fingerprints, and biological fluid stains are
just some of the common types of trace evidence however, as technology continues to push forward,
more and more evidence and ways of testing is coming to light.

Track And Trace Prescription Drugs: A Case Study
Track and trace prescription drugs are an RFID application that can be used in the hospital. this
application enables to electronically track and trace prescription drugs through specific product
identifiers. The application will lead to long–term benefits by reducing medical errors, and saving
time in the prescription drugs distribution. Brewin states that Dr. Jean–Pierre Garnier, CEO of
pharmaceutical manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline PLC in London, said "long–term goal is the
development of an electronic product code that will help track, trace and authenticate medicines
through the whole distribution system." Also, it is not only about tracking the drug products, but also
including information, such as expiration date and each point of contact for the drug from the
manufacturer to the pharmacy. There will be a barcoded identification bracelet that is attached to
each patient where the nurse will scan it to pull up the patient information. Then, it will compare the
drug data with the patient's prescription. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This will reduce the risks of medication errors that can seriously the harm patients, and cost the

the prescription drugs where it ensures that each prescription is credible to use by the patient. The
product will have a unique number to each prescription drug in order to record the to record

Ambrose Bierce's Influence On War

Ambrose Bierce was a unique author/veteran (whichever you prefer). Even now people still are

Bierce was an author who disappeared with little trace leaving behind many theories.
During the Civil War, Ambrose Bierce joined the military, fought in many battles, and wrote fiction
inspired by his time serving. Ambrose Bierce was part of the Ninth Regiment in Indiana. He won the
rank of major before the end of the war. He also fought in multiple battles. He wrote books about the
civil war like "Civil War Stories" and "Tales of Soldiers and Civilians". He wrote a few more but not
many.
"War adventures resulted in the finest, some say the only, fiction to emerge from the Civil War ––
and all of it remains in print." Swaim 1. Bierce Fought at Chickamauga during the civil war and
wrote a short story called Chickamauga in 1889. This book was written more than 20 years after the
actual battle of Chickamauga which occurred in 1863.

Police Enforcement And Criminal Investigation Essay
Law enforcement, in some form, has existed for centuries and since its creation there has been
numerous improvements. Improvements have come about because of community changes and the
need for more effective ways of policing the people. As crimes became more fierce and complex so
did the need for the investigation and solving of these crimes. Criminal investigative techniques
were not just born from thin air, some thought and planning had to go into figuring out the proper
ways to go about doing things. Pioneers of the criminal justice and criminal investigation field such
as August Vollmer, Alphonse Bertillon, Edward Henry, and Edmond Locard have made superior
contributions to the development of criminal investigative techniques. These techniques have
impacted the way police operate today and set a substantial base for law enforcement to build on.
Alphonse Bertillon devised a system simply called, The Bertillon System. This was a first attempt at
criminal identification and was thought to be reliable and accurate. Bertillon developed an
anthropometric system of physical measurements of body parts, especially components of the head
and face. This system was used primarily to determine if a person in custody had committed a
previous crime. Archives of these records began to be compiled. A form of this system is still used
today, but we now call them "mugshots". (Bertillon System of Criminal Identification, 2011).
Although mugshots are still used today, anthropometry was

Personal Narrative: Edward Abbey's Desert Adventure
The southeast of America is where I was raised and where I chose to raise my six children, and still
continue to live. I never tire of the beautiful pines, the live oaks, the endless creeks and streams, and
the breathtaking beaches of the Gulf Coast. While scouting was not available to me as a young man,
all five of my sons are Eagle Scouts and are lovers of nature and the outdoors. We have our own
flotilla of canoes and kayaks that we use for family trips, scouts trips, and with anyone we can
persuade to go with us. We cycle through the forests, sail along the coast, and fish the waters in our
area.
As a scoutmaster I love to introduce the scouts to the adventures of the outdoors and help them learn
to be stewards of the world we live. One of my favorites events is taking scouts to camp on the
beach of the Gulf of Mexico. We see the stars at night and the breathtaking sunrise in the morning.

Essay On Frankenstein
Mary Shelley is one of the best known authors of gothic literature. Her most famous work is the
horror novel Frankenstein which she wrote at the early age of 20. Since she was so young when
writing the novel, it is interesting to ask for her ideas and the source of inspiration for the content of
her story. In literary studies, Roland Barthes' theory says that the author – and so his or her life –
should not be the reference point for an analysis (Jannidis et al. 182). Nevertheless in some stories,
the traces of the author are so strong and important that they cannot be ignored when analysing the
story. Therefore, this essay will examine the traces of Mary Shelley's biography in Frankenstein with
reference to mother's death, different places ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shelley's stepmother did not want the children to be highly educated due to her own only average
education. Shelley probably educated herself through reading a lot and "the comings and goings of
such rare personalities as Lamb and Coleridge to the house" (Sparks 13). This might serve as an
argument why books and reading are often mentioned in Frankenstein. Education is also important
for Victor Frankenstein. He studies in Germany and becomes a scientist with deep knowledge in this
area. Not only for Victor, education also plays a major role for other characters. For example,
Elizabeth is sad because "she [has] not the same opportunities of enlarging her experience, and
cultivating her understanding" (Shelley 106) when Victor leaves to visit France, the Netherlands,
Scotland and England. So even for a woman, knowledge was desirable. Due to the lack of a high
education, it might be that Shelley was not able to speak any foreign languages. She might come to
terms with it and the probable wish to speak other languages through the detailed description of the
acquisition of a language (Shelley 74–79). In conclusion, one can see that education played a key
role in Shelley's life even if she was not allowed to take part in it as much as she would have

Dead Men Tell Tales
The title dead men tell tales can surprisingly be true. If a dead man is missing and they don't know
where he is or who he is he can tell a tale. Forensic anthropologists figure out who he is then they go
back to the crime scene and figure out what happened, just by this dead man. If the man has a mark
on his skull that appears to be from a knife then they guess that he was stabbed. If the man has two
holes in his skull that are across from each other anthropologists assume he was shot. Then they
look at what the crime scene looks like: Was there a gun? Bullets? Knife? Blood? If there was
maybe there are fingerprints on them, and you can trace it to the killer. They can look at the little
things to identify the person like if they were poor,

Characteristics Of The Noble Savage
The noble savage in antiquity is often characterised by the traits of the golden races accounted for
by Hesiod in Works and Days and Ovid in the Metamorphoses which traces the decline in human
moral behaviour from the ideal Golden Age to the civilised but violent Iron Age world. Accordingly,
the noble savage is always discussed from an ethnocentric world–view wherein the spaces most
familiar to the authors are deemed the most civilised while the places further from them become
increasingly primitive. In this way a reading of the noble savage is a negative description of both the
technologically inept people in question, and the morally bankrupt civilised peoples corrupted by the
conflict and greed their society engenders. Characteristics of the golden race peoples usually applied
to noble savages are: lack of agriculture, property, hard labour; no demarcation of territory, greed,
warfare, written laws, seafaring, and metallurgy. The difficulty with noble savage descriptions in
antiquity is that they are not all analogous and some are significantly unlike the Golden Age races.
Moreover, their depictions are due to the 'writer's preconceptions of the moral value of prehistoric
peoples and their lifestyles will colour their valuation of noble savage' ; therefore, it is the ancient
author who chooses how the noble savage is presented.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of The ICP Over Other...
The main analytical advantages of the ICP over other excitation sources are:– (1) Arrangement of
elements could be measured in single analysis cycle (2) Accurate to determine elemental
concentration (3) Capability for efficient and reproducible vaporization, atomization, excitation, and
ionization for a wide range of elements in various sample matrices. This is probably due to the high
temperature of about 6000–7000 K, in the observation zones of the ICP. This temperature is much
higher than the maximum temperature of flames or furnaces of about (3300 K). The high
temperature of the ICP also makes it capable of exciting refractory elements, and renders it less
prone to matrix interferences (Xiandeng,H. & Bradley, T.J. 2000). In review, there were many

doctors are perfectionists. Lastly they know many medications and poisons. That's why I think
doctors make the best criminals. First, doctors have knowledge. The knowledge that doctors have is
a advantage because they know what they can give to people to make certain things happen to them.
Doctors can use weapons to there advantage to hit vital areas. Also doctors know a lot about
different drugs. I would like to add that doctors can make a drug that wont be able to be traced and
they would have free access to the drugs needed. Second, doctors are perfectionists. Doctors are

Guns are the most common weapons used in murder cases. And it is used to identify the murderer.
Criminals can cover up most evidence but they often forget about the evidence left by the weapon
itself. Starting in 1835 with a defect found in a bullet recovered from the victim and ballistic
evidence has been useful ever since. In 1854 a wading of newspaper was found in the barrel of the

The earliest use of bullet examination can be found in 1902 when Oliver Wendell Holmes fired a
bullet into cotton and compared to the bullet recovered from the crime scene with a magnifying

While returning home from market on one evening he encounters "a nude baby girl about the same
age as his daughter. Not a part of the pitiful little dead thing was missing (Thammachot 5). The little
girl who reminded the man of his own daughter it was easier for him to sympathize with her, and
while the language does not suggest a caring attitude when he describes her as pitiful, the gesture of
checking on the body, and the analysis made of her–which is when the girl's gold bracelet is first
noticed–and seeing that she was completely intact is the author showing us that people, when
reminded of someone who they love, will be more caring towards the involved party, opposite them.
While the man shows some compassion, and maybe even remorse towards the girl, while thinking
more about his own child, whom the little girl brings to his mind he realized why the bracelet
around the dead little girl's wrist was so important. Being that he was a poor man, and had to be able
to provide for his wife and child, "The little human tragedy receded to the back of his mind where
only a trace of it lingered" (Thammachot 7). The little human tragedy described makes the death of
the girl into less than it actually is, and is the author showing once we realize that there's a lucrative

person's own favor. The trace of tragedy that continues to linger is the man realizing why what he's

Dna Profiling And The Legal System
DNA Profiling
In forensics, when using a DNA profile or evidence it has to follow guidelines usually given by the
legal system. DNA profiling is a very powerful method used for forensic identification, and there
has never been a case where two individuals have the same DNA profile.
DNA is a long curved structure, made up of pairs of four specific bases: adenine, guanine, cytosine,
and thymine, is the repository of a code from which all of our cells are made. The code is made up
of base pairs which look like the rungs of a ladder, and are joined by alternating phosphate and sugar
groups, which may be compared to the ladder 's sides or legs. The bases adenine and thymine form
what is known as one base pair, and the bases cytosine and guanine form the second base pair.
The DNA in humans carries almost one and a half billion pairs of these bases within one strand of
DNA. It is the order, or sequencing of these pairs that determines what information is available for
the making and repairing of our bodies.
These base pairs and groups are connected to form a ribbon–like structure which curls into what is
known as a double helix or spiral. The spiral form provides stability to the structure, and the
sequencing pattern might be thought of as letters which combine into words that communicate the
necessary information needed by the cells in order to reproduce and replenish themselves. Much of
human DNA is non–coding and appears to have no purpose that has been determined at this

The State Terror In Taiwan

  • 1. The State Terror in Taiwan The term terrorism is generally linked with images from September 11 and other attacks targeted on innocent civilians done by terrorist individuals and sub–sate group to influence state's policy nowadays. Terrorists are portrayed as evil and unlawful while states represent the justice and legitimate side that against it. According to Jackson(2011: , more than 80 percent of the academic articles are dealing with non–state terrorism. However, as described by Jackson(2011: 228–9 in Jackson, R., Murphy, E. & Poynting, S.), state terrorism is "...a political phenomenon in the contemporary international system" and is "employed by almost every kind of state". As claimed by Grant (2010:11–2), Terrorism is an political strategy that had been used frequently throughout the history, human condition, but the modern variety with all the technology improvement, but it is not until the 19th century, with help of technology improvement and start of the colonisation, that terrorism started to gain public consciousness as states adopted violent political strategies to rule their colonies. According to Law (2009: 160–1, 171–5), State terrorism is one of the biggest sources of human suffering and destruction. It is stated that state terrorism leaves traces while state terror doesn't, but this essay will argued that state terror might not be remembered by the general public but it still subconsciously has psychological effect on the citizens. This above theory will be discussed in this essay by a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Jack the Ripper The Whitechapel Murders and those of Jack the Ripper are not generally one and the same. Over a period of three years towards the end of the nineteenth century a number of prostitutes were murdered under different circumstances – the murder of prostitutes was not an especially unique occurrence during those times but several of the murders drew particular attention on account of the savagery with which the victim's bodies were mutilated. Within the Whitechapel Murders was a cluster of murders that demonstrated sufficient similarities as to suggest that they were committed by the same person. One of the first instances of serial murder was thus identified and sensationalised in the media as the work of ‘Jack the Ripper', nicknamed on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is an attempt to unravel the tangle by an objective and empirical examination of information from crime scene and post mortem examination of the victims. Pre–digested information such as speculative newspaper reports, and statements from witnesses other than those called in a professional capacity have been avoided since theirs is largely subjective testimony that confounds more than it informs. I have not attempted to identify a named suspect as a consequence of my conclusions. In the course of an objective appraisal it is quite wrong to start with a suspect and then attempt to make the facts fit as so many later day investigators have done. Such an approach unavoidably leads to a skewed interpretation. I have, however, given a broad idea as to the type of man that Jack the Ripper may have been, and although such a summary may be of use to others, it lies firmly in the realm of ... • 5. Lack Search In Section 213 Of The Patriot Act The sneak and peek search is provided in Section 213 of the Patriot Act. A sneak–and– peek warrant allows the police to lawfully investigate in a premises and delay in notifying the suspect that they are about to conduct a search. The sneak–and– peek is referred to as counterterrorism, but it is also used in criminal investigations. That includes law enforcement sneaking in the house unnoticed utilizing the no–knock policy. The police carrying out the sneak–and– peek search often do not leave a copy of notice that they have conducted the search, including whatever they may have found during the search. The main reason why law enforcement does not notify the individual or leave a copy of the notice, is because it may jeopardize the investigation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This search is not only conducted for households, but also other buildings such as a "terrorist cell" or even a vehicle. For example, a suspect in Buffalo had his car searched and the agents utilized a delay–notice warrant in which they used a duplicate key to take the suspect's car without the suspect noticing. The DEA agent left traces behind as if the suspect's car was broken into and stolen. It is also important to notice that the suspect must be informed eventually about the warrant being issued against them, but that could last up to days, months or years (DeRosa, 2005). However, according to the 2006 Amendment of the Patriot Act, a thirty day notice is mandatory unless the agent or officer extend the notice by providing further facts and information to the judge. Before the attacks on 9/11, sneak and peek searches did not involve the inspection of files, documents and pictures in the home, but Section 213 expands the scope of these searches (Lippman, ... • 7. Essay On Mold Fossils Mold fossils come from a process called authigenic preservation; a process which leaves a negative impression, or indent, of an organism in rock after the organism itself has deteriorated. Sand or mud covers the deceased organism and, over time, that sand or mud hardens into rock, encasing the organism. The organism continues to decay, eventually leaving only an imprint. Entire organisms, partial organisms, or even traces of the passing of organisms can leave mold fossils. Cast fossils occur when mold fossils are filled in with minerals that harden over time, creating a fossilized replica of the original organism. Water seeps through the rock surrounding the mold fossil, leaving behind minerals which fill the mold. The minerals harden, taking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plant fossils and trilobites are often found as casts and molds. Most molds and casts do not contain the actual remains of an organism. Shells, bone, and wood often form as molds or casts. Dinosaur footprints can also be classified as mold fossils. Shells can make an imprint in sand, and under certain conditions such an imprint might be preserved and then filled in. Trace fossils can form if two conditions are met. First, the activity has to take place in a material that will hold its form (like mud or clay). Second, the evidence of the activity has to be well preserved (often by being buried quickly). Common activities that are captured in time as these conditions are met include walking and running (footprint fossils), burrowing (organisms homes can be frozen in time through petrification), and defecating. The animals speed, length of stride, and whether they walked on two or four legs. The bones structure of the foot and the stalking behavior (a carnivore hunting a herd of herbivores). The existence of dinosaur herds and stampedes. ORGANIC AND INORGANIC CONSTITUENT IN ESSENTIAL IN PLANTS AND NUTRIENTS REQUIRED TO PLANTS Organic constituent DEFINITION An organ, system, or other discrete element of an organism the part of the plant that carries out photosynthesis. EXPLANATION: The chemical compounds of living things are known as organic compounds because of their association with organisms. Organic compounds, which are the compounds associated with life processes, are the subject matter of organic chemistry. Among the numerous types of organic compounds, four major categories are found in all living things: carbohydrates, lipids, protein, and nucleic acids. Carbohydrates Almost all organisms use carbohydrates as sources of energy. In addition, some carbohydrates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such nutrients are termed macronutrients, where the prefix macro– (large) refers to the quantity needed, not the size of the nutrient particles themselves. Other nutrients, called micronutrients, are required only in trace amounts for plants to remain healthy. • 12. Fossils Research Paper Secrets in the Soil Paleontologists search for "secrets" under the earth. Many search for years on their quest for fossils. Fossils provide details about life on earth long before man was present. It's important to know what fossils are, how they are made and how to find fossils in order to learn about early life forms. Fossils are preserved remains of plants and animals that have to be 10,000 years or older to truly be considered a fossil. Over that time, minerals replace the bones. Paleontologists, hikers, and casual scientists find them, and study them. There are two types of fossils; body and trace. Body fossils are the preserved remains of an animal or plant, while trace fossils are the remains ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over time, the outside of the plant or animal decays, and leaves only bone. Minerals then can replace the bone, or the bone can dissolve. The rock then fills the empty space, and leaves an imprint of the fossil. The best fossils were formed in or near bodies of water. Plant fossils are rarer than animal fossils because they have to be covered completely after death, and all oxygen has to be removed almost immediately for the fossilization process to begin; otherwise, the plants soft material decays too quickly. Plants can also be trapped in amber, which is the sap of a tree that hardens. When this happens, the sap preserves the plant perfectly. Some types of plant fossils found are: Glossopteris SP in Australia, Seed Fern in West Virginia, and the cone of a Club Moss Tree in the United Kingdom. Animal fossils, though they can be rare, are more common than plant fossils, and fossilize similarly. Animals have to be covered quickly by mud or buried in a sand storm. They then decay, and the bones are replaced with rock like minerals. Some examples of animal fossils found are: the Bear Dog, the Dinonyus, and the Moropus. All of which are very similar to now–a– days ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Mr Brooks Film Analysis With the second murder, the process is very similar to the first one, in that Mr. Brooks is able to effortlessly break into the apartment, seeming to cut through wires to get through the security system and the door. The same approach to wearing a specific serial killer outfit and planning to burn it afterwards ensures that there is no trace left of him at the scene that can be detrimental, and Mr. Brooks does not take any actions that would leave any other trace of him. Obviously, the trace that is left at the second crime scene is when Mr. Baffert urinated and left a puddle on the ground, which only helps Mr. Brooks as to fooling the police to think that Mr. Baffert is the thumbprint killer. Mr. Brooks seems to pull of the second murder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Brooks's entrance of the murder locations probably would not be as smooth as shown in the movie. The machine cutting the wires in the apartment complex is loud, and there is a chance of him being spotted at all of his murder locations. These are the only flaws for Mr. Brooks, and he was in fact seen by someone else, Mr. Baffert, at the first murder. While in the movie's events Mr. Brooks is flawless, these actions in fact are not necessarily perfect, but it did not matter for the movie, as he was never caught. There are many unanswered questions and missing scenes in the film to fully answer the question of whether Mr. Brooks is a perfect serial killer, so with what the film does present, Mr. Brooks is perfect in that regard, while not perfect in reality. While Mr. Brooks leaves a lot of possibility open for him to be caught, the movie does not allow for this, and Mr. Brooks is perfect in the regard of properly cleaning up the crime scene location and having police that are not very detailed. The flaws are outside of what is shown in the movie, in the efforts to enter and exit the crime scene and the various details that may have not been seen by police and the film viewers. Moreover, the many missing details include what Mr. Brooks may have done with the shovel at the end, and how isolated the cemetery really was from others not seeing the crime. Arguably, the last murder is the one with the least details in the film, as it was revealed at the last minute that Mr. Brooks own this cemetery and can effortlessly kill Mr. Baffert there without anybody ever finding out. Such a plot twist once again ensures that Mr. Brooks is perfect according to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. How Camping Can Be A Responsible Camper While You Enjoy... Camping is a fun, low cost way to enjoy the summer with family and friends. Here are a few tips that will help you be a responsible camper while you enjoy the wild. 1. For bug repellent try citronella candles and Avon "Skin So Soft" instead of toxic chemical insect repellents. 2. Wear long sleeves and long pants at dawn and dusk when insects are most active. 3. Stay on trails to protect habitat and avoid snake encounters. Snakes sense vibrations, so walking with a buddy or a group is not only wise, it will announce your presence to snakes who just want to avoid encountering YOU! 4. Invest in a good sleeping pad, or at the least, put an exercise mat under your sleeping bag. 5. Block ice lasts longer than bagged ice. Make your own at home by filling milk jugs or water bottles. The less you open the cooler, the longer the ice will last. 6. Never hang lanterns on trees because the heat can cause serious harm. 7. Pack a small plastic bucket for dish washing and never use the bathhouse sink for this task. 8. Hungry critters can be very clever and destructive. Keep food locked in vehicles or tied up in trees. 9. Freeze chili, soups and stews in zip lock bags, then heat them after they thaw. The frozen bags help keep ice from melting in the cooler. Rice and pasta can also be cooked ahead of time and reheated on a camp stove. 10. Pita pockets keep their shape better than loaf bread. 11. Disposable water bottles make great dispensers for salad dressings and sauces. 12. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wilderness Pledge Research Paper Philmont Scout Ranch wrote the Wilderness pledge to protect the 137,000 acres of land, so that the lucky scouts that get to go and see the beauty of the land see the same thing as the person before them (Philmont). When over one million people have gone through the camp, the Wilderness Pledge that was created had to have helped because the land has not changed much, except of the trail. In the 1960s the US government wanted a plan to protect the environment and came up with Leave No Trace (Marion). • 20. Are Leave No Trace Principles Effective? Essay Are Leave No Trace Principles Effective? Leave No Trace is philosophy of seven concepts that help minimize human recreational impact on wild lands. As wilderness recreation has become more popular, and the National Wilderness Preservation System has increased its wilderness lands from 9.1 million acres in 54 wildernesses in 1964 to 104 million acres in 628 wildernesses in 19991, the need for guidelines to help reduce degradation of these lands has become increasingly important. In 1979 Jim Bradley wrote about the need for an educational approach for managing recreation impacts instead of regulations that antagonize the public rather than win their support2. Teaching good practices is more effective than imposing strict regulations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Durable surfaces include established trails and campsites, rock, gravel, dry grasses or snow. These are generally areas with less life and organic material. Obtaining information about the location of fragile areas or how to identify mating, nesting and spawning areas is useful and important for protecting these areas. Generally, if there is a trail, stay on it. If there are established campsites, camp there. If not, camp a good distance away from other tents, cook a good distance away from your tent, and leave backpacks leaning against trees or rocks a good distance away from your tent (make sure all food is stored properly so as not to attract animals!). These practices help minimize the effects of trampling in one area. If you are traveling through pristine wild lands with no trail, spreading out is often an effective way of minimizing repeated impact on one path. Traveling off trail might not be appropriate at all in certain circumstances such as in Pisgah National Forest of North Carolina where Golden Mountain Heather grows on a few rocky ledges, but does not grow anywhere else in the world3. Research shows that trampling causes a curvilinear response between the amount of trampling and damage to vegetation and soil. This quote describes darkness in one's life when one tries everything in his power to be with someone and it does not work. This is the case in the novel The Great Gatsby when the main character Gatsby falls in love with Daisy, yet she is taken and unavailable but he continues to chase her and only ends up short. In The Great Gatsby, the author F. Scott Fitzgerald, uses literary elements in the novel is to create the story. Diction is the word choice that controls tone and mood. After his death, Nick reflects on Gatsby's life. "...paid a high price for living too long with a single dream" (Chapter 8). This shows that Gatsby wanted to be with Daisy and did everything to be with her so when it did not work out, he had nothing. This created the tone and mood of emptiness and loneliness. Another example of the mood created after Daisy and Tom leave without of trace is when Nick describes them after they have gone. "They were careless people, Tom and Daisy–they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mass they made..." (Chapter 9) This represents that Tom and Daisy do not take responsibility for their actions and let others clean up after them after leaving to go to Europe. This creates tone and mood of carelessness and facade. Tom and Daisy do not appear to be who they are and this leads to emptiness and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Uses for Trace Evidence in Forsensic Science There are various uses for trace evidence in forensic science. Trace evidence can include a variety of disciplines including hair, paint, fiber, rope, soil, glass, and building materials. According to Locard's Exchange Principle, every contact leaves a trace. Whenever a criminal comes in contact with a victim, there is an exchange of materials between the two. When discovered, this exchange can provide key evidence in a case. Paul Kirk (1974) states in his book Crime Investigation, " Wherever he steps, whatever he touches, whatever he leaves, even unconsciously, will serve as silent evidence against him" (p.2). Without even knowing it a criminal can leave behind physical evidence that can be used to build a case against him. Without examining the trace materials left behind by these transfers, some crimes would never be found. Trace evidence has been an important aspect of the criminal justice system for a long period of time. The first recognition of this type of evidence arouse from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's short stories starring Sherlock Holmes. Holmes used hair, soil, and various other trace elements to connect criminals to crimes. In 1910 when Edmond Locard began the first forensic laboratory, DNA fingerprinting had not yet been discovered. The first conviction of a criminal based on DNA evidence did not take place until 1987. This means that physical evidence played a part in catching criminals for about seventy–seven years before DNA was in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I chose this book because I really liked other books that I've read by James Patterson. I think this book is very cool and unique, because it doesn't give the killer's name and motive at the end, like most murder books. The author switches the chapters between the detective's perspective, and the killer's perspective, so that you know each trace that the killer leaves behind, and every clue that the detectives picks up, and at the end everything unfolds into a brilliant ending. I think this book is called hope to die, because the killer, Thierry Mulch, takes Alex Cross's family, and he always leaves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Clearly explain Locard's principle and apply these transfers to materials used as evidence in genuine cases." Edmond Locard was a criminalist who initially started and ran a forensic laboratory in 1910. He used this lab to compare evidence between a crime scene and a suspect and he then developed his principle of exchange theory in 1920. I'm going to be looking at and explaining what Edmond Locard's exchange principle theory is and what it suggests and then I'm going to look at some case studies where his principle has been used as evidence in court to convict an offender. The employment situation was even worse for women and it is little wonder that many had no alternative but to resort to prostitution as a source of income. The newspapers of the day were as colourful and inaccurate in much of their editorial reporting as the police forensic investigations were limited through lack of investigative techniques. Even the identification of bodies was dependent largely upon facial recognition, distinguishing marks, or papers on the corpse. Misidentification of bodies, either by accident or design, especially those subject to decomposition and including the very many corpses pulled from the Thames, must have been commonplace. Fingerprinting was still in the process of being developed. A classification scheme appeared in 1901 and first used in a trial in the UK in 1902. Dental records were non–existent and blood grouping only developed after the identification of the different types in 1901. From that it became possible to serologically identify other body fluids. DNA was not discovered until 1953 and the unique identification of individuals by DNA profiling did not follow until 1985. In 1910, an important principle of forensic science was established by Edmund Locart who suggested that every contact leaves a trace; a criminal will always carry away with him some trace from the scene of the crime and will leave behind some trace of his presence. • 36. Essay On Slip In Nb h. Active Slip Systems in Nb Slip during plastic deformation is the underlying mechanism that accounts for many of the phenomena previously discussed. This section will cover fundamental studies on slip in Nb, along with general theories on deformation in bcc metals. In the cavity fabrication process, crystal orientations, active slip systems, dislocation sub–structure, and recrystallization during annealing are interrelated from the metallurgical point of view [20] – slip behavior depends on how crystals are oriented with respect to the applied stress; slip and interactions of slip systems result in a certain dislocation substructure; the dislocation substructure determines how recovery and recrystallization proceed during heat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the motion of screw dislocations is thermally activated, it will likely occur by nucleation of kink pairs on well–defined atomic planes [70]. The kink pair nucleation mechanism gives rise to the temperature and strain rate dependence of flow stresses in bcc metals [70]. The low mobility of bcc screw dislocations can be partly explained by the core relaxation theory [48, 72–76]. A bcc screw dislocation core tends to spread onto three symmetric {110} or {112} planes, which results in a non–planar core structure and hinders the movement of screw dislocations [70]. Consequently, screw dislocation mobility is affected by non–glide shear stresses, which is a violation of the Schmid law. The relaxation also adds to the waviness of slip traces, as cross slip can occur on two alternating {110} or {112} planes to roughly follow a slip plane with a high resolved shear stress. Thus, long and drawn–out screw dislocations are usually left behind during plastic deformation and are observable [48]. There has been no consensus thus far regarding the core structure of screw dislocations in Nb, but it is generally agreed that the core relaxation depends on both the temperature and purity [70, 77–79]. Seeger argued that fundamental slip planes change from {110} at low temperatures ( slip systems could leave behind sessile dislocations with the resulting Burgers vector on a ... Saliva evidence can also be useful in helping to find a suspect. Once it is determined that bio evidence is present, if the object containing the biological fluid can be taken in whole to be processed, it is bagged and labeled as usual. However, if the evidence is on something that cannot be transported, then a swab is taken to gather a sample. The proper gathering, handling and processing of trace evidence is a vital part of any investigation. Because not all cases are cut and dry, the criminals are not caught in the act, having the proper evidence can speak volumes. • 46. Police Enforcement And Criminal Investigation Essay Law enforcement, in some form, has existed for centuries and since its creation there has been numerous improvements. Improvements have come about because of community changes and the need for more effective ways of policing the people. As crimes became more fierce and complex so did the need for the investigation and solving of these crimes. Criminal investigative techniques were not just born from thin air, some thought and planning had to go into figuring out the proper ways to go about doing things. Pioneers of the criminal justice and criminal investigation field such as August Vollmer, Alphonse Bertillon, Edward Henry, and Edmond Locard have made superior contributions to the development of criminal investigative techniques. These techniques have impacted the way police operate today and set a substantial base for law enforcement to build on. Alphonse Bertillon devised a system simply called, The Bertillon System. This was a first attempt at criminal identification and was thought to be reliable and accurate. Bertillon developed an anthropometric system of physical measurements of body parts, especially components of the head and face. This system was used primarily to determine if a person in custody had committed a previous crime. Archives of these records began to be compiled. A form of this system is still used today, but we now call them "mugshots". (Bertillon System of Criminal Identification, 2011). Although mugshots are still used today, anthropometry was ... Since she was so young when writing the novel, it is interesting to ask for her ideas and the source of inspiration for the content of her story. In literary studies, Roland Barthes' theory says that the author – and so his or her life – should not be the reference point for an analysis (Jannidis et al. 182). Shelley's stepmother did not want the children to be highly educated due to her own only average education. Shelley probably educated herself through reading a lot and "the comings and goings of such rare personalities as Lamb and Coleridge to the house" (Sparks 13). This might serve as an argument why books and reading are often mentioned in Frankenstein. Education is also important for Victor Frankenstein. He studies in Germany and becomes a scientist with deep knowledge in this area. Not only for Victor, education also plays a major role for other characters. For example, Elizabeth is sad because "she [has] not the same opportunities of enlarging her experience, and cultivating her understanding" (Shelley 106) when Victor leaves to visit France, the Netherlands, Scotland and England. So even for a woman, knowledge was desirable. Due to the lack of a high education, it might be that Shelley was not able to speak any foreign languages. She might come to terms with it and the probable wish to speak other languages through the detailed description of the acquisition of a language (Shelley 74–79). • 56. Characteristics Of The Noble Savage The noble savage in antiquity is often characterised by the traits of the golden races accounted for by Hesiod in Works and Days and Ovid in the Metamorphoses which traces the decline in human moral behaviour from the ideal Golden Age to the civilised but violent Iron Age world. Accordingly, the noble savage is always discussed from an ethnocentric world–view wherein the spaces most familiar to the authors are deemed the most civilised while the places further from them become increasingly primitive. In this way a reading of the noble savage is a negative description of both the technologically inept people in question, and the morally bankrupt civilised peoples corrupted by the conflict and greed their society engenders. Characteristics of the golden race peoples usually applied to noble savages are: lack of agriculture, property, hard labour; no demarcation of territory, greed, warfare, written laws, seafaring, and metallurgy. The difficulty with noble savage descriptions in antiquity is that they are not all analogous and some are significantly unlike the Golden Age races. Moreover, their depictions are due to the 'writer's preconceptions of the moral value of prehistoric peoples and their lifestyles will colour their valuation of noble savage' ; therefore, it is the ancient author who chooses how the noble savage is presented. ... The main analytical advantages of the ICP over other excitation sources are:– (1) Arrangement of elements could be measured in single analysis cycle (2) Accurate to determine elemental concentration (3) Capability for efficient and reproducible vaporization, atomization, excitation, and ionization for a wide range of elements in various sample matrices. This is probably due to the high temperature of about 6000–7000 K, in the observation zones of the ICP. This temperature is much higher than the maximum temperature of flames or furnaces of about (3300 K). • 66. Personal Narrative-I 'M Sorcerer' I'm free. Free from the world. Free from the election. Free from stress. It worked. Of course it worked – I'm Sorcerer. You see, Kathy's "mysterious" disappearance wasn't too mysterious. Why would it have been? Magicians and politicians alike are deliberate in their ways. When Kathy and I went to the Lake of the Woods, we weren't happy. That's even an understatement. We could barely even hold a conversation with each other. The election, the war... everything came crashing down upon us. Upon me. So we thought. And we dreamed. And we wondered how we could get out of this mess. Until late one night, Kathy suggested that we disappear. You're Sorcerer, she said. You can get us out of here. Indeed, I am Sorcerer. My brain holds tricks and mirrors, ... • 68. Common Criminal Weapons Guns are the most common weapons used in murder cases. And it is used to identify the murderer. Criminals can cover up most evidence but they often forget about the evidence left by the weapon itself. Starting in 1835 with a defect found in a bullet recovered from the victim and ballistic evidence has been useful ever since. In 1854 a wading of newspaper was found in the barrel of the weapon used and the newspaper was found in the suspects house. The earliest use of bullet examination can be found in 1902 when Oliver Wendell Holmes fired a bullet into cotton and compared to the bullet recovered from the crime scene with a magnifying glass. This way was studied and perfected using a microscope to compare bullet striations in 1912. In 1925 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One's own morality, and the ethical decisions they make are affected my many different factors that all come together to determine paths we follow. In both Erdrich's I'm a Mad Dog Biting Myself for Sympathy and Thammachot's Nightfall on the Waterway interactions with a other's lead to the main characters facing ethical dilemmas, showing how a person's morality comes one's personal life experiences, and living conditions. The narrator in Erdrich's, I'm a Mad Dog Biting Myself for Sympathy, because of his past, and interactions with others demonstrates his inability to be in a position to make carful moral decisions that will have a lasting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While returning home from market on one evening he encounters "a nude baby girl about the same age as his daughter. Not a part of the pitiful little dead thing was missing (Thammachot 5). The little girl who reminded the man of his own daughter it was easier for him to sympathize with her, and while the language does not suggest a caring attitude when he describes her as pitiful, the gesture of checking on the body, and the analysis made of her–which is when the girl's gold bracelet is first noticed–and seeing that she was completely intact is the author showing us that people, when reminded of someone who they love, will be more caring towards the involved party, opposite them. While the man shows some compassion, and maybe even remorse towards the girl, while thinking more about his own child, whom the little girl brings to his mind he realized why the bracelet around the dead little girl's wrist was so important. Being that he was a poor man, and had to be able to provide for his wife and child, "The little human tragedy receded to the back of his mind where only a trace of it lingered" (Thammachot 7). The little human tragedy described makes the death of the girl into less than it actually is, and is the author showing once we realize that there's a lucrative offer waved in front of one's face it's difficult to resist pushing ethics to the side, and do good in a person's own favor. The trace of tragedy that continues to linger is the man realizing why what he's doing is morally wrong, but knowing that he has his wife, and his daughter at home he has to take the bracelet to get ahead just a ... • 72. Wright Brothers Airplane Failure Hello, everyone today I will argue why I think why the Wright brothers were the first to fly, the first and most accurate reason they left diaries, and other things to assure they were the first to fly. The second detail other inventors who had claimed to have flew first have not left any clue of it. And the last supporting detail of this idea is that other attempts to fly failed. Now let's talk about this in detail. The diaries the Wright brothers left included all the models they did, their ideas, and some pictures that prove they flew, they investigated the birds movements and they put them in the diaries and how they carried out them to their airplanes. Now the others inventors that claimed to have flew first but didn't left any clue. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. Dna Profiling And The Legal System DNA Profiling In forensics, when using a DNA profile or evidence it has to follow guidelines usually given by the legal system. DNA profiling is a very powerful method used for forensic identification, and there has never been a case where two individuals have the same DNA profile. DNA is a long curved structure, made up of pairs of four specific bases: adenine, guanine, cytosine, and thymine, is the repository of a code from which all of our cells are made. The code is made up of base pairs which look like the rungs of a ladder, and are joined by alternating phosphate and sugar groups, which may be compared to the ladder 's sides or legs. The bases adenine and thymine form what is known as one base pair, and the bases cytosine and guanine form the second base pair. The DNA in humans carries almost one and a half billion pairs of these bases within one strand of DNA. It is the order, or sequencing of these pairs that determines what information is available for the making and repairing of our bodies. These base pairs and groups are connected to form a ribbon–like structure which curls into what is known as a double helix or spiral. The spiral form provides stability to the structure, and the sequencing pattern might be thought of as letters which combine into words that communicate the necessary information needed by the cells in order to reproduce and replenish themselves. Much of human DNA is non–coding and appears to have no purpose that has been determined at this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Weiwei artwork, conceptually created a community of prisoners to large to ignore. This installation links a 'crime' with a name, a name with a face. It reveals oppressive acts of governments from all parts of the world and suggests that the true heroes of our societies are those advocating social reform. In this work, Weiwei is honouring those individuals. Each piece was built by hand; small, independent parts were assembled to create a vast and complex whole, reflecting the relationship between the individual and the collective, which is a central dynamic in all societies, particularly that of contemporary China. Weiwei could not leave China so eighty volunteers helped assemble the work. Digital blueprints of the works were created and spilt into ... His artworks have moved away from purely a method of self–expression, rather they are a catalyst for global change. Contemporary art, from his perspective, requires and sometimes creates, an audience devoted to liberty; presenting his work in a prison, is evidence of this mindset. Weiwei reminds us to think critically. Although many of the countries in which the prisoners represented in his works come from are now 'free nations', we cannot forget a time when this did not apply; the works are held at a notorious, former jail in America proves this. In addition to this, the fact that a work about liberty is held in a prison is ironic in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While some claim he ended his final letter with "As to me, I leave here tomorrow for an unknown destination," others debate the validity of the prophetic pronouncement.
