A330/A340 Programme – Main challenges in 2010
• Deliver ~ 8 aircraft per month
while managing customers base and suppliers (e.g BFE seats)
continuing to maintain quality
• Reduce costs with implementation of Power 8
Lean, smart buying, leadtime reduction, Cabin Business model, ROC.
• Deliver the first A330-200 Freighter in Summer 2010
Deliver four more by end 2010
Support Freighter business strategy to capture additional orders.
• Continue to improve the performance of the A330
e.g lower fuel consumption, weight savings, MTOW increase, ESG, FHS
• Support military derivatives business and the bid for the KC-45

A380 New Design Weights Option
• From 2013 onwards for new aircraft deliveries, airlines will be able to select
increased design weights:
Current variant : 569 t / 391 t / 366 t for MTOW/MLW/MZFW
Increased Variant : 573 t / 393 t / 368 t
• Adds ~100nm range on MTOW-limited missions
Range capability increased to 8,300nm
Adds ~ 1.5t (3300lb) max. structural payload on MZFW-limited missions
• Leveraging output from more than 45,000 Flight Cycles (end April 2010) of full-
scale fatigue test so far
That is 2.4 DSG (“aircraft lives”) and test continuing to > 2.5 aircraft lives
• Achieved through loads reductions (Partly through flight control laws optimisation)
and minor local modifications
