The Heart Sutra
仏説摩訶般若波羅蜜多心経

Buddha's teaching on great “Perfection of
Wisdom”
<Commentary>
The Heart Sutra is the sequel of the Four
Noble Truths which Buddha preached
first. The aim of the Heart Sutra is to
transcend the duality in the realm of the
conventional truth taught by the Four
Noble Truths and to guide to non-duality
in the realm of the ultimate truth, namely
enlightenment.

<Four Noble Truths and Heart Sutra>
The Four Noble Truths is based on
duality in the realm of the conventional
truth and the Heart Sutra is based on
non-duality in the realm of the ultimate
truth. And it's vital for us to understand
deeply the ultimate truth for attaining
enlightenment. The source of all
sufferings is separation between oneself
and others. So, we need to transcend
duality and throw away all notions, for
non-separation. For that, wisdom of
emptiness is essential.

Interdependent co-arising means two
sides of the same coin (all pairs of
opposites are "not two", but "not one").
If one side arises, the other side arises at
the same time. If one side is removed, the
other side is also removed at the same
time. And interdependent co-arising also
means interpenetration just like the
implicate order in quantum physics.
Interdependent co-arising is the skillful
means to transcend duality and attain
non-duality, or emptiness.
