revolver per SHTF Armi base per un piano di emergenza e sopravvivenza Questa breve guida è stata estratta e tradotta da una consulenza commissionata da un cliente residente all’estero che nell’ambito di un piano di preparazione alle emergenze necessitava di un parere tecnico sulle armi idonee alla sua situazione. Il cliente risiedeva in un’area scarsamente popolata, in una tenuta con abitazione rurale isolata e situata a circa 70 km dal centro abitato più vicino. Il cliente non era soggetto rischio specifico e la situazione criminale/sociale nella zona non destava preoccupazioni di rilievo. La zona presentava anche un rischio medio-basso dato dalla fauna selvatica locale. La richiesta era finalizzata a scegliere armi e munizioni per difendersi in particolare all’interno della tenuta e delle aree naturali adiacenti, da eventuali criminali e predatori naturali in tempi normali sia in caso di fatidiche emergenze dette in gergo SHTF, ossia quando le cose si mettono davvero male. Il piano del committente prevedeva di permanere nella tenuta il più possibile in caso di emergenza, con eventualità estrema di spostarsi (due persone) verso una Bug Out Location in una località di montagna poco distante. Il cliente voleva inoltre tenere al minimo l’ingombro, la manutenzione e l’addestramento in quanto non appassionato di armi. Tenendo conto della richiesta specifica del cliente di potersi dotare di armi difensive utili in caso di sommosse, crollo finanziario, assenza di autorità, ecc. e considerata la conformazione del terreno e dell’abitazione, si consigliava anche l’acquisto di una carabina per poter ingaggiare bersagli più lontani, fuori dalla portata delle armi corte, ma il cliente ha rifiutato l’opzione. Date le premesse e il budget assegnato, ho consigliato l’acquisto di due revolver a doppia e singola azione in calibro .357 Magnum e .22 Long Rifle, entrambi in acciaio inossidabile. Le armi suggerite erano Ruger GP100 o Smith & Wesson 686 con canne da 4’ e Ruger SP101 cal. 22 LR con canna da 4’. La scelta del revolver è motivata dalla semplicità d’uso e dalla versatilità dei caricamenti che consentono sempre il funzionamento sia con cariche massime che con cartucce da allenamento o addirittura da tiro indoor. L’acciaio inox consente maggiore tranquillità di manutenzione e resistenza maggiore in ambienti umidi o nel porto mentre si svolgono attività acquatiche come pesca o canoa, che il committente dichiarava di effettuare frequentemente.

dettaglio il calibro .357 Magnum è stato scelto per i seguenti vantaggi: • Il .357 esprime elevata energia terminale con caricamenti che arrivano a spingere palle da 180/200 grani, utili anche nella caccia di sussistenza contro qualsiasi tipo di preda presente in zona. • I revolver in questo calibro possono sparare tranquillamente cartucce calibro .38 special che esprimono circa metà o un terzo della potenza del .357, questo comporta maggiore comfort nel tiro e possibilità di allenamento più economico e graduale. Inoltre le cartucce .38 special risultano molto diffuse ovunque e rendono quindi più semplice l’approvvigionamento in caso di emergenze estreme. • Le palle del .357 Magnum e del .38 Special hanno un diametro di .357 millesimi di pollice, per cui in caso di emergenza è possibile estrarre le palle dalle cartucce 9x19 e .380 ACP che misurano .355 millesimi. Pur incorrendo in calo di precisione e prestazioni non presentano rischi per la sicurezza a patto di effettuare un adeguato crimpaggio. • Allo stesso modo le cariche di polvere recuperate da tutto il munizionamento per semiautomatiche in questi calibri (9mm e .380 ACP, peraltro diffusissimi) possono essere utilizzate con la relativa palla senza raggiungere il limite pressorio consentito nelle armi .357 Magnum. • In revolver .357 poi è possibile allestire cariche a pallini da utilizzare contro piccola selvaggina o piccoli nocivi e roditori. • Lo stesso vale per l’allestimento di munizioni spezzate con 2/3 pallettoni “00” per difesa ravvicinata. • Un’altra opzione di versatilità è data dalla possibilità di allenarsi a breve distanza, con poca spesa e poco rumore con palle in plastica o preparate in stampi da fusione riempiti di colla a caldo. • Nell’eventualità di instaurazione di legge marziale con possibili restrizioni sulla vendita di munizioni le cartucce cal .380 A salve possono in extremis spingere delle Ruger GP100 cal. 357 Magnum Smith & Wesson 686 cal. 357 Magnum Ruger SP101 cal. 22 LR Cartucce 357 Magnum

in piombo, anche sferiche, inserite nella parte anteriore del tamburo, esprimendo così energie simili al .380 ACP, sufficienti a difendersi in caso di aggressione. • Sempre nello stesso caso il bossolo capiente del .357 può essere caricato con polvere nera (fattibile in casa in situazioni di emergenza) per supplire, seppur con minore efficacia, alla carenza di polveri senza fumo. • Il calibro .357 consente inoltre di disporre di 6/7 colpi senza comportare ingombri eccessivi come nei revolver .44 o .45. Il calibro .22 Long Rifle è stato scelto per i seguenti vantaggi: • Versatilità di caricamenti che esprimendo energie da 10 a 150 Joules si prestano a moltissimi impieghi, dalla piccola caccia, al controllo dei nocivi fino alla difesa ravvicinata quando non sono presenti opzioni più adeguate. • Il calibro .22 è diffusissimo in armerie e poligoni • Le cartucce pesano pochissimo ed è possibile trasportare 500 colpi nell’ingombro di due scatole di sigarette • In caso di emergenza piccole cariche possono essere allestite usando pallini da aria compressa e capsule “starter” a salve da 6 mm da usare per pest e piccole prede. • Cartucce improvvisate possono inoltre essere allestite utilizzando pallini da aria compressa molto pesanti spinti da cartucce a salve .22 per “sparachiodi” o apparecchi da macellazione. Questo sistema, da adottare solo in caso di carenza di munizionamento, secondo alcuni esperimenti americani produrrebbe energie simili a quelle del .22 Magnum, ossia superiori allo stesso .22 Long Rifle. • Sebbene sia diffusissima la convinzione contraria, è possibile ricaricare le cartucce .22 LR. Il procedimento è macchinoso e lento e non offre vantaggi economici in situazioni normali in cui siano disponibili munizioni di fabbrica. In caso di necessità però è sufficiente ripulire la sede del composto innescante in un bossolo sparato e inserire il composto ricavato da fiammiferi (non safety matches) polverizzato e sciolto in acetone. Le palle possono essere fuse, riciclate da munizioni .223 e .222 o si possono utilizzare pallini da aria compressa molto pesanti. Cartucce 22 LR con palla ramata

I revolver calibro .22 consentono di avere a disposizione un tamburo da 8 colpi in telai piccoli e fino a 12 colpi in telai più grandi • Il principale svantaggio delle munizioni a percussione anulare, ossia le possibili mancate accensioni, è minimizzato dal revolver in quanto con una successiva pressione del grilletto è possibile subito sparare la cartuccia successiva. In conclusione della mia consulenza, che ricordo era destinata ad un cliente all’estero, suggerivo che la scorta di munizioni nei calibri in questione poteva essere sfruttata in futuro anche con carabine nello stesso calibro (nello specifico .357 a leva e .22 bolt action con ottica). Suggerivo inoltre di addestrarsi frequentemente per padroneggiare lo scatto soprattutto in doppia azione. Un’altra sezione del report di consulenza spiegava poi al cliente come preservare le munizioni dall’umidità per lunghi periodi con l’applicazione di smalti intorno all’innesco e alla palla e utilizzando sacchetti sottovuoto e come “svecchiare” periodicamente il munizionamento accumulato. Consigliavo inoltre di non sottovalutare la possibilità di ricaricare le munizioni 38/357 per avvicinare il cliente a comprendere al meglio le potenzialità della sua arma.
