1. "In light of the entire transaction as it was outlined to them by Wisconsin, did First Midwestern
provide the correct advice to their customer on how to structure the transactions? Did they appear to
be fully diligent?"
First Midwestern was a well–known bank and has a good relationship with Wisconsin for several
years. In my opinion the bank did not provide the correct advice to Wisconsin in structuring and
financing the transaction. One of the main reason was, because Wisconsin did not advised their bank
with all the details and negotiations happened between them and Vietnamese buyers. The
management of Wisconsin had deal with Saigon jewels, (buyers) that they will buy back the finished
polished stones and jewelry from Saigon over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also as mentioned above they were not fully aware of the side agreement of buying back the
finished polished gems by Wisconsin. Also they accepted the drafts and made full payment to the
applicant, which I suggest they shouldn't do. Because the price of the gems went down and also the
issuing bank who bought the drafts from Midwestern are unable to collect the money from the
buyers. As Wisconsin denied the side agreement with the Vietnamese buyers and there was no
clause present for that in the drafts, Midwestern cannot claim the money.
2. "What risks were faced by Wisconsin when they undertook to accept the guarantee and to ship the
goods under it?"
Letter of guarantee is a type of commitment from the bank on behalf of its customers (buyer) to the
third party (suppliers) and Promises to meet any financial obligations in case the customers fails to
fulfill the requirement of the contract. The risks that Wisconsin faced when they agree to accept the
letter of guarantee and ship the goods under it includes currency risk, commercial risk, risk of
nonpayment.
One of the commercial risk involved the quality of goods delivered. When the Wisconsin made its
first delivery to Saigon jewels, they indicated that not all of the jade gems received are of good
quality. So, the delivered goods did not match the expectations of buyers. The other commercial risk
Wisconsin faced was nonpayment and non–delivery or delay in

An Internship At The Aging And Disability Resource Center
Have you ever wondered how businesses can keep track of and manage many different records?
For the past semester, I have been doing an internship at the Aging and Disability Resource
Center of Door County. During my time there, I have seen the receptionist area full of records that
will need to stored. Sometimes the amount of paperwork waiting to be stored seems overwhelming.
For my final, I interviewed Wendy Schubert, the office receptionist at Door County Aging and
Disability Resource Center. Our interview consists of the following eight questions:
To get the interview started off, I first asked Wendy to identify the types of records and how they are
stored. Her response was "we have physical records and electronic records. Our physical ... Show

Moving on to question three, I ask "what filing systems are used: alphabetical, subject, geographic?"
Wendy answered, "Well, we mainly use alphabetical. As I said before, we use subject and location to
label folders, but inside those folders are arranged in alphabetical order. The Social Assistant
Management System (SAMs) account and SchedulePlus system can be set to quarry by first or last
name, phone numbers, location, birthday and even poverty levels. Our hard copies that need to be
scanned don't have an order, we just put them in a folder and scan them when we can."
I then asked "what types of records management supplies are used and why? Are the current
supplies adequate for usage?" Wendy thought for a second and then replied, "with our physical
records we use hanging folders, folders, and folder labels, paper and pens. We're transitioning to
electronic files, but for now, yes the supplies is adequate."
For question five, I asked Wendy "what types of equipment is being used? Is the current equipment
adequate for usage?" Wendy answered "we use computers, hard drives and space, a printer that can

Charles Augustus Lindbergh's Influence On Aviation
Charles Augustus Lindbergh, or Slim to his close friend, was a simple airmail pilot who gained
world fame for his record–breaking flight across the Atlantic. He is often considered the greatest
aviator of all time, and using his fame, has played a large role in the development promotion of
aviation and even space travel. Charles Augustus Lindbergh's life began on February 4th, 1902 in
Detroit, Michigan. Shortly afterward, the Lindberghs moved to Little Falls, Minnesota into a house
they called Lindholm. He grew up on their Minnesota farm with his two half–sisters Eva, Lillian,
and parents Evangeline Lindbergh and Charles A. Lindbergh, Senior. His father was a Minnesota
congressman and his mother was a chemistry teacher at the high school ... Show more content on

Lindbergh came to to back his flight. Knight used his connections to put Charles in contact with the
head of the St. Louis Chamber of Commerce, Harold Bixby, who agreed to sponsor the flight after
meeting with Charles. Together, Bixby, Knight, and Lindbergh agreed on a budget of $15,000.
Charles first contacted Wright–Bellanca Flight Corporation to try to buy a plane, but was refused,
being told that they did not want to put the new plane on the line by choosing Lindbergh, a new and
unproven pilot. Charles`s next target was the Dutch aircraft manufacturer Fokker. He was
unfortunately turned down as well for the same reasons, even though they suspected that he could
make the flight. A telegram later came, from a small Aircraft Company in southwestern California
called Ryan. They offered to design and manufacture a custom Ryan M–2 specially for the flight for
only $6,000. Lindbergh made some more attempts to get a Fokker but to no avail, forcing him to
accept Ryan`s offer. He flew himself down to California to help design and oversee manufacturing
of the aircraft. His first impression of the company was one of high disappointment. The Ryan
factory was an old fish cannery with a foul odor lingering in the air. After meeting with Mahoney
and Donald Hall, however, he was feeling much better about choosing the small company. He was

Ed Gein Essay
This paper is based on the life of Ed Gein. He was an unusual character, born on a farm, and raised
by a religious crazy, domineering mother. In the space of a few years his entire family passed away
and he was left to take care of his farm all by himself. In the next few years he became a grave
robber, a necrophiliac, a cannibal, and also took up arts and crafts in body parts. He is known as one
of the weirdest serial killers of the twentieth century. He also inspired movies like Psycho, Silence
of The Lambs, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

He went to an old friend by the name of Gus, who was a loner and odd as well. Gus was Ed's trusted
friend, he agreed to assist in digging up the body for "medical experiments". His first corpse was
less than 12 feet away from his mother's grave.
Over the next 10 years Ed did the same thing look up obituaries in the local newspaper and dig up
fresh corpses on a full moon. He would take the whole corpse or just the parts that he needed at the
time.
His experiments with dead bodies were bizarre. He would construct objects with the bones and skin
and the organs and meats were stored in the fridge to eat and give as fresh venison to his neighbors.
He would commit acts of necrophilia on the bodies. He even dug up his own mother's corpse!

full body suit made of women skin, breasts and face included.
His collections of trophies got larger, and so did the range of his experimentation and obsession. Gus
was then taken to an asylum, and Ed was then left alone again. Ed thought that fresher bodies would

Joseph Raymond McCarthy and Communism Essay
Joseph Raymond McCarthy, once a senator, is best known for his accusatory remarks on
communism. During a time of cold war, opposition to McCarthy was the last thing the public
wanted, in fear of being accused themselves. McCarthy led a life of almost fifty years, beginning on
November 14, 1908 and ending on May 2, 1957 due to acute hepatitis and numerous additional
ailments and liver problems (Reference Staff). Joseph McCarthy was born in Grand Chute,
Wisconsin on November 14, 1908 to Timothy and Bridget McCarthy. In adolescence and early
adulthood, McCarthy completed eight grades of schooling and started farm work, only to return to
high school in Manawa in 1929. McCarthy completed high school in a year's time ("Wisconsin

During his time in the Marines, McCarthy challenged, and is defeated by, Alexander Wiley for the
Republican primary for US Senate. Once McCarthy resigned from the Marines in 1945, he returned
to Appleton to repossess his seat as judge. Within the next year, he begins his political stance by
running against the low campaigning Senator Robert La Follette Jr. with the strategy of heavy
campaigning and attacking La Follette. McCarthy defeats La Follette and goes on, in November of
1946, to defeat the Democratic candidate Howard J. McMurray in the general election. During the
start of his political career, anti–communism was only a minor issue for McCarthy. During
McCarthy's first few years as senator, anti–communism started to take a larger stance in United
States politics, as well as the United States as a whole ("Wisconsin Historical Images"). McCarthy
started the age of McCarthyism on February 9, 1950 when he announced his first list. McCarthy
stated, "I have in my hand a list of 205, a list of names that were made known to the Secretary of
State as being members of the Communist Party and who, nevertheless, are still working and
shaping policy in the State Department." Within the following weeks, McCarthy claimed that there
were different numbers of communists within the United States that he had listed, including 57, as
he told reporters, and later 81, as he told the Senate. McCarthy's

The Classical Utilitarianism Line Combined With Rational...
There are some questions in this life we will ask and never receive an answer to. Not because the
questioned simply does not want to answer but perhaps because they cannot answer. This theory
falls into the classical utilitarianism line combined with rational choice theory (Barkan p. 93). In
researching Edward Theodore Gein, I discovered this is one of those cases where "Why" never came
to pass and he took to his own grave those unanswered questions. Did these acts of crime and
necrophilia arise from the clear dysfunctional home life and upbringing or was Ed Gein simply a
psychopath?
How he came to be. Born on August 27, 1906 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to George Philip and

One must ask how much hereditary influence from his mother was a factor in Geins' rational choice
theory. Nature versus the lack of nurture in the upbringing of Ed Gein and his brother. "Nonetheless,
offenders still make decisions that appear rational to them at the time they make them (Barkan, p.
96)."
Theory Analysis
Ed Gein deeply desired to please his mother above all else. Augusta Gein an archaic Lutheran
controlled her sons to the extreme. Ed did attend public school however he was an outcast and often
bullied by other students. Despite the mistreatment, he managed to do well in and enjoyed school.
When Ed tried to socialize at school this did not please his mother and anytime Ed tried to make
friends, his mother scolded him. The isolation from any other outside influences could not have been
healthy and added to his insecurities in an everyday social lifestyle. Gein was often described as a
loner, awkward and aloof. Augusta read to both her sons daily from the Old Testament Bible from
scripture usually graphic in nature with versus dealing with death, murder and divine retribution.
Gein tried to make his mother happy but his efforts were usually met with harsh criticism and she
was rarely pleased with her sons. She often scolded them and verbally abused them by telling them
they were going to end up disappointments like their father (Woods, 1995).

psychopaths. Potentially the

Frank Lloyd Wright Research Paper
A man of many talents and disciplines, Frank Lloyd Wright is arguably one of the most creative
architects of the 20th century. Even before he was born, his mother, Anna Lloyd Jones claimed that
her child would build beautiful buildings. To prepare for Wright's arrival, Jones decorated his
nursery with engravings of English Cathedrals from periodicals to motivate him as an infant. On
June 8, 1867, Lloyd was born in Richland Center, Wisconsin. However, after three years, the family
moved to Weymouth Massachusetts because Wright's Father, William Wright, was a baptist minister
who wanted to minster a small congregation.
While living in Weymouth, Jones bought a set of educational blocks designed by Friedrich Wilhelm
August Fröbel known as Froebel gifts. Known for the different colors and shapes, Jones hoped that
it would spark some kind of creativity in Wright. Fortunately, it did. Wright distinctly remembers
playing with the blocks and wrote in his autobiography about it. He writes, "For several years I sat

became unhappy because of this. When Frank Wright was fourteen years old, William Wright and
Anna Jones separated. Unfortunately, William was able to sue Jones for lack of physical affection.
Once the divorce was finalized, William Wright left Wisconsin and Frank Wright never saw his
father again. It was at this point where Frank Wright changed his name from Frank Lincoln Wright

Impact Of Trade Compliance On The World Of Economics
1. Introduction In the world of Economics, the important word come to mind of people is Trade.
Trading has been done from the time when human begin start to use tools that is circa 150,000 years
ago(Watson 2005). Since then we have come a large leap from trading small stone tools to
sophisticated machineries and advance software today. This report revolves about the specific topic
of Trade Compliance which is relatively new to the pitch compared to the age of trade. The term
Trade Compliance means that the trade done in with compliance to law of the countries in which the
parties perform the trade. When did all the regulation start on the trade it dates to the time when the
humans started to sail and import the goods of value to their own nation and government start to put
taxes on the goods which are of high value this kind of regulation or the compliance is called the
tariffing of trade. This further developed when the world is further connected and all the nation
wants to do eat their share of pie in the world economics and thus bought the introduction of the
Harmonized Tariff System back in 1988(Aoki Sibylle Bauer Quentin Michel Filippo Sevini Ian
Stewart Webmaster Frédéric Wilhelmy and Viski Publisher 2015). This system is internationally
accepted by 200 countries. European Union follow a complex Trade compliance program and is
regarded as the best in world (Stewart and Bauer 2015,46). The Harmonized Tariff System is

The Great Northwoods Essay
The Great Northwoods
As with all things, the history of an event does not begin at its conception. With this in mind, it is
my intention to provide the reader with a general history of events that led to the formation of the
Nicolet National Forest of northern Wisconsin. In order to do so, I found it necessary to begin with
the early explorations of such notables as James Cartier, Samuel de Champlain, and Jean Nicolet.
These French explorers blazed a path that enabled the settling of the territories now know as
Wisconsin. Men like them embodied the new era of exploration that was gripping the European
nations with the quest for empire, trade, and the advancement of Christianity, leading the way. In
addition, attention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the failure of agriculture to take a firm hold, the conservation movement led the government to
purchase large tracts of land in an effort to save what little was left of the great forests of Wisconsin.
Fires had become rampant within the region, lives were being lost, and the government became
determined to correct the situation. I have determined that the end point of my discussion will be the
years leading up to World War II. For while the Great Depression brought about untold suffering for
many, it was actually the giver of life for the Nicolet National Forest. People needed work, and the
government was searching for ways to put them to work. Forming and nurturing the growth of a
National Forest was the ideal answer for thousands. The years immediately proceeding World War II
brought back economic security for many, and left a legacy of many industrial accomplishments as
well as non–industrial accomplishments such as the Nicolet National Forest. In conclusion, the
manner that I have chosen to write this paper was presented to me by my sources. Of the few
sources that I was able to garner dealing solely with the Nicolet National Forest, each followed the
same general outline. And, since importance was stressed upon these areas already by established
historians, I felt that it should not be ignored.
The first major exploration that bears particular relevance to the Nicolet National Forest begins with
the exploits of James

How Does Hydroelectricity Work?
The topic I've chosen is hydroelectricity. Hydroelectricity is obtaining the power of falling water to
create electricity. Hydroelectricity has been around for as long as 2000 years. The Greeks used a
wheel powered by water to grind wheat into flour. Later on in the mid 1700's the evolution of the
modern hydropower turbine began when a French hydraulic and military engineer, Bernard Forest
de Belidor wrote Architecture Hydraulique.
II. How Hydroelectricity works So how does hydroelectricity work? Well coal fired plants and
hydroelectric plants work in a similar ways. Both of the power sources spin a turbine, which then
spin a metal shaft that is connected to an electric generator, which is the motor that produces
electricity. The one difference is that coal fire plant creates steam that turns a turbine, and a
hydroelectric plant uses water to turn a turbine. Hydroelectric dams are usually built on a large river
that has a large drop in elevation. These hydroelectric dams aren't in areas with a lot of flat land such
as Kansas and Florida. Behind the dam is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first advantage is that it's clean. The dams are powered by water, which is a non emitting source
of energy. This means that hydroelectricity avoids 200 million metric tons of carbon pollution each
year in the United States. Another advantage of hydroelectricity is that it's renewable. Hydropower
relies on water, which is created by the water cycle. The water cycle is driven by the sun, which
makes this a renewable resource. Also another advantage of hydroelectricity is that it's domestic.
This means that each state can produce their own electricity without being reliant on international
fuel sources. The last advantage of using hydroelectricity is that it can create electricity very fast. A
hydroelectric dam can go from zero to maximum output very quickly, producing electricity for the

Environmental Dangers Of Mining
Mining has shaped much of the world today and remains a vital part of history. Without mining,
many technologies would either be in scarce supply or not exist at all. With mining, humans have
been able to collect a plethora of minerals and substances that still have many uses today. Despite
the great things that mining has done for humankind, there are many people that see mining as a
danger to the environment and the economy. Waste products and other pollutants caused or created
from mining can have harmful effects on the surrounding environment. The economy is also an
issue as mining is not as profitable as it once was. Despite these views, many mining companies still
believe that mining can bring profitable results while still keeping the environment safe. With the
recent undertaking of the Back Forty Project, concerns have been raised over the issues of the
possible environmental dangers of mining near water sources and the impact (or lack thereof) on the
economy. One of the biggest issues many people have with mining are the environmental dangers
that it can bring. One such group, the Mining Action Group, claims that the Back Forty Project is
hazardous to the nearby Menominee River. The Back Forty Project is a polymetallic sulfide mine, a
type of mine composed of reactive ore and rocks that when exposed to air or water can form sulfuric
acid. This can then "...generate low–quality water containing elevated concentrations of SO (sub 4),

The Politics Of The United States
Partisanship has always existed in the United States. Though, there have been periods of decline and
resurgence. But since the 1970s America has seen an increase in "party unity" votes in Congress.
From 2009 to 2012 party unity votes was around 70%, a clear indication of polarization in
Washington. The ideological differences that exist within Congress is also indicative of the attitude
of the general public. A majority of people are willing to call themselves Democrats or Republicans.
"Party identification, like other attitudes, affects beliefs as well as opinions." Party affiliation is a
significant tool to predict tendencies of voters, those that associate themselves with the Republican
Party tend to vote Republican and those associated with the Democratic Party tend to vote
Democrat. Presidential performance ratings are indication of polarization amongst the parties.
Republicans tend to give a higher approval rating for Republicans and lower rating for Democrats,
and the opposite is true for Democrats. Elections and politics in America have become more
polarized than ever before. The foundation that created a more polarized America can be found in
the changes in the media, campaign financing, and the way candidates are elected.
The history of news media is one of an evolution of technology, practices, and regulatory
environments that transformed the views of America. Years ago, the choices for Americans to get

Paper # 1
Introduction to SCM–honors
Lei Zhang (Alice)
Case # 10: Heartland & Company
1. I think there are at least two advantages of basing a supplier's overall evaluation on its lowest
performance. First of all, it is a simple way to exclude poorly performed suppliers. Since Heartland
& Company could have a list of thousands of potential suppliers that need to be evaluated, this
method could save a lot of time for managers to pick up a handful of qualified suppliers. Moreover,
according to "Liebig's law of the minimum", the growth is usually controlled by the scarcest

Before establishing such stable relationships, it is necessary for the Heartland & Company to
evaluate potential suppliers comprehensively.
2. The weights for the five dimensions that the Heartland & Company focuses on should not be
equal. As indicated in the beginning of the case document, the Supply Management Manager Walter
A. Walsh and one of his buyers, Olivia Newcomb point out the company's priorities which are cost
reductions and long–term relationship. Also, the competitive advantage of cost reductions is usually
based on excellent cost management, while the long–term relationships are supposed to build upon
efficient and effective communication, which is an important part of wavelength. That is, the
Heartland & Company is expected to put more weights on cost management and wavelength
than those on other factors. Following that, improvements on technical support could also reduce
costs, specifically assembly costs. Hence, it is reasonable to put more weights on technical support
than those on the rest two elements, which are delivery and quality. According to the level of
priority the Heartland & Company designates to each factor, I come up with the following
weights: Cost management 30%, wavelength 30%, technical support 20%, delivery 10%, and
quality 10%.

Partner = 5; Key = 4; Approved = 3; Conditional = 2;

Symptoms And Symptoms Of A Mental Disorder
A mental disorder is a diagnosis of a behavioral or mental pattern that can cause suffering or a poor
ability to function in ordinary life. Such features may be persistent, relapsing and remitting, or occur
as a single episode. Many disorders have been described, with signs and symptoms that vary widely
between specific disorders.
The causes of mental disorders are often unclear. Theories may incorporate findings from a range of
fields. Mental disorders are usually defined by a combination of how a person behaves, feels,
perceives or thinks.

symptomology, deviance from a normal range, or etiology, and that the same is true for mental
disorders, so that sometimes one type of definition is appropriate, and sometimes another, depending
on the situation. Edward Theodore Gein was an American murderer and body snatcher. His crimes,
committed around his hometown of Plainfield, Wisconsin, gathered widespread notoriety after
authorities discovered Gein had exhumed corpses from local graveyards and fashioned trophies and
keepsakes from their bones and skin. Gein confessed to killing two women – tavern owner Mary

Making A Murderer, Directed By Laura Ricciardi And Moira...
Steven Avery, a family man, a victim of injustice and an accused murderer. One may have reasoned
that his murder conviction was a crime of passion, due to the injustice Steven suffered from his 1985
false conviction of rape and assault, but that may have been before his story caught national
attention. A documentary, "Making a Murderer", directed by Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos,
arose from his story's infamy. With this documentary came numerous questions as to Avery's
possible innocence, but above all else answers that shed light on a possibly corrupt justice system
that appears intent on framing Steven Avery for Teresa Halbach's murder. "Making a Murderer"
effectively portrays a message of the injustice of Steven Avery's murder conviction and possible
corruption within the Manitowoc's justice system through the use of footage and accounts from
people who were involved with his conviction.
"Making a Murderer" starts with Avery's exoneration of the conviction of rape and assault of Penny
Beerntsen. Consistently, Steven Avery asserted that he was innocent and that he had an alibi.
Regardless of his assertions he spent 18 years, of a 32 year sentence, in prison before he was finally
found innocent by DNA evidence and was released. Reasonably, Avery pursued a $36 million
lawsuit against the Manitowoc County for his wrongful conviction. Consequently, this lawsuit made
Avery an enemy of the county. When Teresa Halbach, an AutoTrader magazine photographer, was

Penokee Hills In Northern Wisconsin
Wisconsin has a long tradition of being at the forefront of environmental protection. From having
pristine national forests, clear water, and tough environmental regulations to keep our forests
pristine and water clear. Now, in the 21st Century, Wisconsin is losing that right due to Wisconsin
Governor Scott Walker. Walker is a big proponent for a mine in the Penokee Hills. The Penokee
Hills are located in Northern Wisconsin, in Iron County, just south of the Bad River Band of Lake
Superior Ojibwe Reservation. This mine would have been an iron mine, one of the world's largest
open pit mine. The problem with this mine is it would have destroyed most of the Penokee Hills, the
environment around it, and polluted everything around it, including ... Show more content on

One consequence on the environment would have been from the pollutants the mine would have
given off. One of these pollutants would be Mercury. In the process of getting iron ore from taconite
pellets, which is what is mined, the taconite must be heated up, one element that is given off during
the heating process is Mercury (WI DNR, 2003, 22–25). When Mercury is in it's gaseous form, it
enters the water cycle and helps form acid rain (WI DNR, 2003). When the acid rain is released as
precipitation, it enters the waterways and pollutes the waters. In the case of Northern Wisconsin, this
acid rain would help pollute the Bad River Watershed, one of the biggest tributaries of Lake
Superior, which would be polluted from the Mercury. Pollution of Lake Superior would be
devastating. Lake Superior is the world's largest freshwater lake and it's water flows through the
Great Lakes, down the St. Lawrence River, and into the Atlantic Ocean, all of which would be
polluted. Also, Lake Superior is a huge source of drinking water for a huge portion of cities located
right on the lake including Ashland and Superior in Wisconsin, Duluth and Cloquet in Minnesota,
Sault St. Marie and Marquette in Minnesota, and Thunder Bay in Canada just to name a few (Lake
by Lake, 2003). Another major pollutant is Sulfate. Sulfate is one of the major parts of taconite mine
runoff. Sulfate does the same as Mercury except it is mixed in the water right away instead of being
in acid rain, though it is a component to acid rain (WI DNR, 2013, iv). Sulfate directly ran off into
watersheds creates more problems than if it were just in acid rain. In the Bad River Watershed, wild
rice is a prominent crop grown in the water for the Ojibwe. That runoff can form Sulfide, and it has
been shown in Minnesota to be toxic to wild rice, helping destroy a means of income for so many
people ("Wild Rice Sulfate, 2014, 5–6).

Well, Las Vegas has a great reputation, as far as being a tourist center, but Las Vegas has morphed

Essay about Senator Joseph R. McCarthy
Senator Joseph R. McCarthy Even though he had humble beginnings, Joseph Raymond McCarthy, a
single man, made a profound effect on the entire United States during his career. By following his
life and what shaped McCarthy as an individual, a broader picture is brought into the scope of the
cause of his false accusations. In the year 1908, in the northeast region of Wisconsin on a struggling
farm, a devout Roman Catholic couple brought a their son, Joseph Raymond, into the world. The
McCarthy's, an Irish–American family, were hard working and industrious on their farm in a rural
area of Wisconsin. Joseph attended a one–room schoolhouse as a boy. He was noted to be a very

For the next three years McCarthy worked in Appleton, Wisconsin at a private practice. At this
office, McCarthy made constant efforts to gain publicity for himself. Even though the town was
composed of a mere 3,000 people, McCarthy had more ambitions than just getting by in a one–horse
town. McCarthy studied his fellow lawyers' strategies in the court room and "kept his office open
evenings to attract clients." (19, The Life and Times of Joe McCarthy) McCarthy was sure to be at
local events and join up with charities. McCarthy wanted attention and wanted to be noticed. In
1936, McCarthy made his first venture into politics in a race for district attorney. He came in second
in this attempt; however, McCarthy ran for judge of the 10th circuit court in 1938. The second time
around, McCarthy threw himself into his campaign with a seemingly endless amount of energy. In a
state–wide effort to boost his public appeal, McCarthy made speeches touting his slogan "Justice is
Truth in Action." McCarthy won the election. However, once McCarthy attained his position, he
totally disregarded his responsibilities. He set a frantic pace that he maintained the whole term,
racing through cases and ignoring traditional procedures. Joseph was known to later use the slogan
"Justice delayed is justice denied" to support his fast pace. (35, The Life and Times of Joe
McCarthy) Finally, the Wisconsin Supreme Court heard about McCarthy

When A Child Comes Forward About An Occurrence Of Child
When a child comes forward about an occurrence of child maltreatment they may fear having to
retell their sordid tale innumerably. With the advent of Child Advocacy Centers this is no longer the
truth. The first Child Advocacy Center (CAC) was established in 1985 and served as a model for
future CACs. The first center established was the National Children's Advocacy Center and it was
located in Huntsville, Alabama. The primary goal of these centers is to limit the number of times a
child has to recount the events of maltreatment. Utilizing a multidisciplinary team in a child–
friendly environment helps to create a safe, secure and comfortable environment for children to
disclose details about maltreatment they have been exposed to.

When speaking with Nila Grahl, the manager of the Kenosha County Child Advocacy Center
(KCCAC), she shared that the main goal was to provide access to a safe and supportive space for
children to disclose information about abuse. This goal is the reason that the center provides,
"legally sound forensic interviews of child victims and special needs adults in accordance with
research based practice" (Sexual Assault Response Team Kenosha County, 22, n.d.)The research
based practice and child–centered environment created by the center leads them down a path to
successfully aide a child or family in need.
As noted previously the CAC model supports the use of multidisciplinary teams when aiding a
potential victim of maltreatment. The purpose of this is to, "establish a cohesive, coordinated system
designed to minimize trauma to the child victim while maximizing all evidence gathering efforts."
(Sexual Assault Response Team Kenosha County, 48, n.d.). As can be assumed being a victim of
maltreatment or being exposed to it can be detrimental for a child and create many insecurities. The
utilization of multidisciplinary teams is to help minimize further fear in these children. These teams
work closely together with a common interest, "maximize positive outcomes for the child's safety,
physical, and emotional needs and for justice." (Sexual Assault Response Team Kenosha County, 48,
n.d.). To best understand the wide disciplines present on these teams

their laughter could fill up the streets of New York City. Everyone enjoyed themselves as they rode
around the roads of North Shore feeling the pulse of the music in their bodies as they sang to the top
of their lungs. Everything was perfect, at the time their only problem was who was going to play the
music. "Come on already, just pick a song!" Olivia said. "This is taking way too long." complained

got out, took their bags, and ran to the sand. Everyone was in a happy mood. The sun shining above
their heads, sand beneath their feet, and the sound of the waves gave them life. They all stacked their
bags one on top the other and ran to the shore. They were just standing there, looking at the waves,
soaking in the beautiful scenery. As time went by Olivia and Lily began to play volleyball while

an Indo–European and Native American cultures. I will break some of these down throughout this

towns named after people. We will also take about the Native American tribal influences, and
occupational towns. As we take a look at Wisconsin, we find many cities and towns with names of
physical features. There are places that have falls, lakes and river as part of their name, this allows
us to acknowledge that there is plenty of lakes, rivers, streams, bay and falls in Wisconsin. The
people who gave these places their names and who live there today have a great appreciation for
their water sources. The people who live in these areas most likely use these water sources for
fishing and a way of life. There is also names after other forms of landscape, towns and cities such

The Necessity of Legalizing Wolf Hunting in Wisconsin Essay
Over the past several years, the gray wolf, native to the Wisconsin area, has been listed federally as
an endangered species due to the graphic and horrific treatment they had received during the
industrialization periods of America, when they were frowned upon and hated because they are
predatory creatures and did, on occasion, attack livestock and pets. Because the government was
encouraging the hunting, including bounties for the animals, the wolves were hunted to near
extinction. However, now Wisconsin faces a new problem. With the reintroduction of the wolves to
the state, and their continued endangered status federally, the population has increased well beyond
expectations, reaching what could be considered a problematic state. A ... Show more content on

Also, the government wanted to step in and help the economy, so bounties were set in order to
encourage the hunting of the creatures. Communities began to see the "bounty hunters" as heroes,
and these men felt as such. The attitude towards wolves spiraled out of control, causing hunts based
on vengeance and hatred, and inhumane practices of poisoning, trapping, and torturing began. Even
a former governor of Alaska, Jay Hammond, felt that flying in a plane and shooting down hundreds
of wolves was necessary to protect the citizens of the state. Wolf furs were coveted, the animals
were loathed, and the image of the wolf as a cowardly murderer stuck based on old–fashioned
beliefs and legend–based fears. Nothing was done to stop the practices, and the hunts continued to
be encouraged, until there were basically no wolves left to hunt (Lopez 139–145). It was nearly too
late once the problem was noticed, but the government finally stepped in to address the problem.
The wolves were going extinct, and it became clear that the animals were an important part of the
ecosystem. The timber (gray) wolf was placed on the endangered species list, and severe
consequences were put into action for anyone who hunted the animals illegally. The Wisconsin DNR
began a very carefully regulated action plan to reintroduce the wolf to the state, which included
radio collars and careful tracking of the animals in order to monitor their progress, as well as make

Edward Theodore Gein – America's Most Infamous Murderer
Although tallying just two deaths, Ed Gein is one of America's most infamous murderers. His
notorious killings are remembered as being among the most perverse of any this century. His lunatic
atrocities were magnified by the number of victims who fell prey to his sick deeds and who also
fueled his numerous habits of cannibalism, necrophilia of women, and his obsession with the female
body, especially his mother, Augusta Gein. Although clearly guilty for the acts Gein committed,
psychiatrists were confident in their conclusion of his insanity. As is in many cases, Gein's birth of
insanity started in childhood.

Gein died, leaving Augusta with Henry, 38 and Ed, 34 who worked as handymen in nearby
Plainfield to pay the household bills. Henry would frequently bad–mouth his mother within earshot
of Ed, who remained a "stalwart devotee of the matriarch" (Schechter 32). In May 1944 a fire broke
out in the brush near the Geins' farm. When the fire department turned up, Ed said his brother was
missing but he led them directly to the spot where Henry lay, covered in soot. The police chose to
ignore two marks on the back of his head and put Henry's death down to him being asphyxiated by
fumes as he fought the fire. Whether Ed had anything to do with his brother's death remains a
mystery to this day.
For a year Ed and his mother lived alone together in the big old farmhouse. While her health

Wisconsin
INTRO GOES HERE In the Midwest region of the United States, the state of Wisconsin is home to
more than 5,700,300 citizens, which is only a mere fraction of the 321,000,000 citizens that live in
the United States. 62% of all Wisconsin citizens are between the ages of 16 and 65, compared to
62.2% of all Americans. 15.6% of Wisconsinites are over 65 years old, while only 14.9% of all
United States citizens are in the same age range. (U.S. Census Bureau, 2015). Only 27.4% of
Wisconsinites over 25 have an education above a bachelor 's degree, while there are 29.3% of
United States citizens with this education as well. The average income for the millions of Wisconsin
citizens is $52,738. This is almost $800 less than the United States average of $53,482 (U.S. Census
Bureau).
With almost 6 million citizens, Wisconsin has 10 electors in the electoral college, and makes up
1.8% of all electoral votes (National Archives and Records Administration, 2010). The Wisconsin
legislature is made up of mostly Republican politicians. The current governor, Scott Walker, one of
the two U.S. Senators, five of the eight House of Representative members (Ron Johnson U.S.
Senator for Wisconsin, n.d), 18 of the state senators, and 63 of the state representatives (Wisconsin
State Legislature, 2015), are Republicans. The second U.S. Senator, the remaining three House of
Representative members (Ron Johnson U.S. Senator for Wisconsin,

Immigrants In Wisconsin
Wisconsin is a state located in America between the Great Lake and the Mississippi river which was
first explored for France by Jean Nicolet in 1634 and landed at green Bay. In 1660, a French trading
post and Roman Catholic mission were established near present day Ashland. "Generally, we think
of Wisconsin as a pioneer in American mining frontier which include copper, iron ore, lead, and zinc
and also have so many developments even though farming is their basic source of leaving" (Nesbit
1989). Wisconsin entrepreneur used the state's waterways and water ports for transporting goods to
market elsewhere (other states) since it is the leading state and popularly known for the production
of dairy products such as milk and cheese. Also, Wisconsin ... Show more content on

He beat Tom Barrett, mayor of Milwaukee as Walker's opponent. Wisconsin became the first to have
a governor to survive a recall in U.S and this brought about so many opportunities to the state.
Today, Wisconsin leads the nation in so many thing and also produced some of the nation's famous
people like Frank Lloyd Wright, magician Harry Houdini, and the U.S. Army General Douglas. "An
important role played by the state was that it was an important stop on the Underground Railroad
with which many slaves pass through the on their way to freedom in Canada" (Howe

The Ancient Songs, Stories And Art Of Native People
Patty Loew writes "the ancient songs, stories and art of Native people are filled with symbolism and
wisdom. In order to understand the cultural meaning of the people, places, and events that shaped
their lives, we must not only read history, but also listen to it (Loew 11)." When we listen to history,
it can be recognized by means of how the author acknowledges that written accounts of people and
their lives does in fact offer a valuable source of information, but it diminishes in comparison to
what could actually be learned from those who actually come from that history. Additionally, in
order to actually listen to history it's important to read it but it also means that we must be able to
understand it. If we can understand history, we can use our understandings of history to apply it to
history over time. History is important when listening to the past because of the fact that it gives
people an understanding of how people's cultures have evolved over time. This also allows us to
learn from the past and hopefully prevent making the same mistakes again in the future. Passing
stories down is another important component in order to listen to history due to the fact that oral
history has allowed us to construct the past and get more crucial details. Throughout the book there
are several examples of how the author listened to history in order to write her book. From the first
chapter in Indian Nations of Wisconsin, Loew allows us to listen to history by means of discussing

Rare Gem

  • 1. Rare Gem 1. "In light of the entire transaction as it was outlined to them by Wisconsin, did First Midwestern provide the correct advice to their customer on how to structure the transactions? Did they appear to be fully diligent?" First Midwestern was a well–known bank and has a good relationship with Wisconsin for several years. In my opinion the bank did not provide the correct advice to Wisconsin in structuring and financing the transaction. One of the main reason was, because Wisconsin did not advised their bank with all the details and negotiations happened between them and Vietnamese buyers. The management of Wisconsin had deal with Saigon jewels, (buyers) that they will buy back the finished polished stones and jewelry from Saigon over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also as mentioned above they were not fully aware of the side agreement of buying back the finished polished gems by Wisconsin. Also they accepted the drafts and made full payment to the applicant, which I suggest they shouldn't do. Because the price of the gems went down and also the issuing bank who bought the drafts from Midwestern are unable to collect the money from the buyers. As Wisconsin denied the side agreement with the Vietnamese buyers and there was no clause present for that in the drafts, Midwestern cannot claim the money. 2. "What risks were faced by Wisconsin when they undertook to accept the guarantee and to ship the goods under it?" Letter of guarantee is a type of commitment from the bank on behalf of its customers (buyer) to the third party (suppliers) and Promises to meet any financial obligations in case the customers fails to fulfill the requirement of the contract. The risks that Wisconsin faced when they agree to accept the letter of guarantee and ship the goods under it includes currency risk, commercial risk, risk of nonpayment. One of the commercial risk involved the quality of goods delivered. When the Wisconsin made its first delivery to Saigon jewels, they indicated that not all of the jade gems received are of good quality. So, the delivered goods did not match the expectations of buyers. The other commercial risk Wisconsin faced was nonpayment and non–delivery or delay in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. An Internship At The Aging And Disability Resource Center Have you ever wondered how businesses can keep track of and manage many different records? For the past semester, I have been doing an internship at the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Door County. During my time there, I have seen the receptionist area full of records that will need to stored. Sometimes the amount of paperwork waiting to be stored seems overwhelming. For my final, I interviewed Wendy Schubert, the office receptionist at Door County Aging and Disability Resource Center. Our interview consists of the following eight questions: To get the interview started off, I first asked Wendy to identify the types of records and how they are stored. Her response was "we have physical records and electronic records. Our physical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You would locate the letter you want and inside that folder would be the client's names, last name first, first name second and a middle initial. Then on the P drive are files that we choose to share with the public, that are labeled by location and subject." Moving on to question three, I ask "what filing systems are used: alphabetical, subject, geographic?" Wendy answered, "Well, we mainly use alphabetical. As I said before, we use subject and location to label folders, but inside those folders are arranged in alphabetical order. The Social Assistant Management System (SAMs) account and SchedulePlus system can be set to quarry by first or last name, phone numbers, location, birthday and even poverty levels. Our hard copies that need to be scanned don't have an order, we just put them in a folder and scan them when we can." I then asked "what types of records management supplies are used and why? Are the current supplies adequate for usage?" Wendy thought for a second and then replied, "with our physical records we use hanging folders, folders, and folder labels, paper and pens. We're transitioning to electronic files, but for now, yes the supplies is adequate." For question five, I asked Wendy "what types of equipment is being used? Charles Augustus Lindbergh's Influence On Aviation Charles Augustus Lindbergh, or Slim to his close friend, was a simple airmail pilot who gained world fame for his record–breaking flight across the Atlantic. He is often considered the greatest aviator of all time, and using his fame, has played a large role in the development promotion of aviation and even space travel. Charles Augustus Lindbergh's life began on February 4th, 1902 in Detroit, Michigan. Shortly afterward, the Lindberghs moved to Little Falls, Minnesota into a house they called Lindholm. Together, Bixby, Knight, and Lindbergh agreed on a budget of $15,000. Charles first contacted Wright–Bellanca Flight Corporation to try to buy a plane, but was refused, being told that they did not want to put the new plane on the line by choosing Lindbergh, a new and unproven pilot. Charles`s next target was the Dutch aircraft manufacturer Fokker. He was unfortunately turned down as well for the same reasons, even though they suspected that he could make the flight. A telegram later came, from a small Aircraft Company in southwestern California called Ryan. They offered to design and manufacture a custom Ryan M–2 specially for the flight for only $6,000. Lindbergh made some more attempts to get a Fokker but to no avail, forcing him to accept Ryan`s offer. He flew himself down to California to help design and oversee manufacturing of the aircraft. During a time of cold war, opposition to McCarthy was the last thing the public wanted, in fear of being accused themselves. McCarthy led a life of almost fifty years, beginning on November 14, 1908 and ending on May 2, 1957 due to acute hepatitis and numerous additional ailments and liver problems (Reference Staff). Joseph McCarthy was born in Grand Chute, Wisconsin on November 14, 1908 to Timothy and Bridget McCarthy. Gein tried to make his mother happy but his efforts were usually met with harsh criticism and she was rarely pleased with her sons. Even before he was born, his mother, Anna Lloyd Jones claimed that her child would build beautiful buildings. On June 8, 1867, Lloyd was born in Richland Center, Wisconsin. With this in mind, it is my intention to provide the reader with a general history of events that led to the formation of the Nicolet National Forest of northern Wisconsin. In order to do so, I found it necessary to begin with the early explorations of such notables as James Cartier, Samuel de Champlain, and Jean Nicolet. These French explorers blazed a path that enabled the settling of the territories now know as Wisconsin. Men like them embodied the new era of exploration that was gripping the European nations with the quest for empire, trade, and the advancement of Christianity, leading the way. I have determined that the end point of my discussion will be the years leading up to World War II. For while the Great Depression brought about untold suffering for many, it was actually the giver of life for the Nicolet National Forest. People needed work, and the government was searching for ways to put them to work. Forming and nurturing the growth of a National Forest was the ideal answer for thousands. Hydroelectricity has been around for as long as 2000 years. The Greeks used a wheel powered by water to grind wheat into flour. Later on in the mid 1700's the evolution of the modern hydropower turbine began when a French hydraulic and military engineer, Bernard Forest de Belidor wrote Architecture Hydraulique. II. How Hydroelectricity works So how does hydroelectricity work? Well coal fired plants and hydroelectric plants work in a similar ways. Both of the power sources spin a turbine, which then spin a metal shaft that is connected to an electric generator, which is the motor that produces electricity. The one difference is that coal fire plant creates steam that turns a turbine, and a hydroelectric plant uses water to turn a turbine. Without mining, many technologies would either be in scarce supply or not exist at all. With mining, humans have been able to collect a plethora of minerals and substances that still have many uses today. Despite the great things that mining has done for humankind, there are many people that see mining as a danger to the environment and the economy. Waste products and other pollutants caused or created from mining can have harmful effects on the surrounding environment. The economy is also an issue as mining is not as profitable as it once was. Despite these views, many mining companies still believe that mining can bring profitable results while still keeping the environment safe. With the recent undertaking of the Back Forty Project, concerns have been raised over the issues of the possible environmental dangers of mining near water sources and the impact (or lack thereof) on the economy. One of the biggest issues many people have with mining are the environmental dangers that it can bring. One such group, the Mining Action Group, claims that the Back Forty Project is hazardous to the nearby Menominee River. But since the 1970s America has seen an increase in "party unity" votes in Congress. From 2009 to 2012 party unity votes was around 70%, a clear indication of polarization in Washington. The ideological differences that exist within Congress is also indicative of the attitude of the general public. A majority of people are willing to call themselves Democrats or Republicans. Party affiliation is a significant tool to predict tendencies of voters, those that associate themselves with the Republican Party tend to vote Republican and those associated with the Democratic Party tend to vote Democrat. Presidential performance ratings are indication of polarization amongst the parties. Republicans tend to give a higher approval rating for Republicans and lower rating for Democrats, and the opposite is true for Democrats. Elections and politics in America have become more polarized than ever before. Since Heartland & Company could have a list of thousands of potential suppliers that need to be evaluated, this method could save a lot of time for managers to pick up a handful of qualified suppliers. Walsh and one of his buyers, Olivia Newcomb point out the company's priorities which are cost reductions and long–term relationship. Also, the competitive advantage of cost reductions is usually based on excellent cost management, while the long–term relationships are supposed to build upon efficient and effective communication, which is an important part of wavelength. That is, the Heartland & Company is expected to put more weights on cost management and wavelength than those on other factors. Following that, improvements on technical support could also reduce costs, specifically assembly costs. Hence, it is reasonable to put more weights on technical support than those on the rest two elements, which are delivery and quality. According to the level of priority the Heartland & Company designates to each factor, I come up with the following weights: Cost management 30%, wavelength 30%, technical support 20%, delivery 10%, and quality 10%. 3. One may have reasoned that his murder conviction was a crime of passion, due to the injustice Steven suffered from his 1985 false conviction of rape and assault, but that may have been before his story caught national attention. A documentary, "Making a Murderer", directed by Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos, arose from his story's infamy. With this documentary came numerous questions as to Avery's possible innocence, but above all else answers that shed light on a possibly corrupt justice system that appears intent on framing Steven Avery for Teresa Halbach's murder. "Making a Murderer" effectively portrays a message of the injustice of Steven Avery's murder conviction and possible corruption within the Manitowoc's justice system through the use of footage and accounts from people who were involved with his conviction. "Making a Murderer" starts with Avery's exoneration of the conviction of rape and assault of Penny Beerntsen. Consistently, Steven Avery asserted that he was innocent and that he had an alibi. Regardless of his assertions he spent 18 years, of a 32 year sentence, in prison before he was finally found innocent by DNA evidence and was released. From having pristine national forests, clear water, and tough environmental regulations to keep our forests pristine and water clear. Now, in the 21st Century, Wisconsin is losing that right due to Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. Walker is a big proponent for a mine in the Penokee Hills. The Penokee Hills are located in Northern Wisconsin, in Iron County, just south of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe Reservation. This mine would have been an iron mine, one of the world's largest open pit mine. The problem with this mine is it would have destroyed most of the Penokee Hills, the environment around it, and polluted everything around it, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One consequence on the environment would have been from the pollutants the mine would have given off. One of these pollutants would be Mercury. In the process of getting iron ore from taconite pellets, which is what is mined, the taconite must be heated up, one element that is given off during the heating process is Mercury (WI DNR, 2003, 22–25). When Mercury is in it's gaseous form, it enters the water cycle and helps form acid rain (WI DNR, 2003). When the acid rain is released as precipitation, it enters the waterways and pollutes the waters. In the case of Northern Wisconsin, this acid rain would help pollute the Bad River Watershed, one of the biggest tributaries of Lake Superior, which would be polluted from the Mercury. Pollution of Lake Superior would be devastating. Lake Superior is the world's largest freshwater lake and it's water flows through the Great Lakes, down the St. Lawrence River, and into the Atlantic Ocean, all of which would be polluted. Also, Lake Superior is a huge source of drinking water for a huge portion of cities located right on the lake including Ashland and Superior in Wisconsin, Duluth and Cloquet in Minnesota, Sault St. Marie and Marquette in Minnesota, and Thunder Bay in Canada just to name a few (Lake by Lake, 2003). Another major pollutant is Sulfate. Sulfate is one of the major parts of taconite mine runoff. Sulfate does the same as Mercury except it is mixed in the water right away instead of being in acid rain, though it is a component to acid rain (WI DNR, 2013, iv). The Necessity of Legalizing Wolf Hunting in Wisconsin Essay Over the past several years, the gray wolf, native to the Wisconsin area, has been listed federally as an endangered species due to the graphic and horrific treatment they had received during the industrialization periods of America, when they were frowned upon and hated because they are predatory creatures and did, on occasion, attack livestock and pets. Because the government was encouraging the hunting, including bounties for the animals, the wolves were hunted to near extinction. However, now Wisconsin faces a new problem. With the reintroduction of the wolves to the state, and their continued endangered status federally, the population has increased well beyond expectations, reaching what could be considered a problematic state. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, the government wanted to step in and help the economy, so bounties were set in order to encourage the hunting of the creatures. Communities began to see the "bounty hunters" as heroes, and these men felt as such. The attitude towards wolves spiraled out of control, causing hunts based on vengeance and hatred, and inhumane practices of poisoning, trapping, and torturing began. Even a former governor of Alaska, Jay Hammond, felt that flying in a plane and shooting down hundreds of wolves was necessary to protect the citizens of the state. Wolf furs were coveted, the animals were loathed, and the image of the wolf as a cowardly murderer stuck based on old–fashioned beliefs and legend–based fears. Nothing was done to stop the practices, and the hunts continued to be encouraged, until there were basically no wolves left to hunt (Lopez 139–145). It was nearly too late once the problem was noticed, but the government finally stepped in to address the problem. The wolves were going extinct, and it became clear that the animals were an important part of the ecosystem. The timber (gray) wolf was placed on the endangered species list, and severe consequences were put into action for anyone who hunted the animals illegally. The Wisconsin DNR began a very carefully regulated action plan to reintroduce the wolf to the state, which included radio collars and careful tracking of the animals in order to monitor their progress, as well as make sure they stay in ... In order to understand the cultural meaning of the people, places, and events that shaped their lives, we must not only read history, but also listen to it (Loew 11)." When we listen to history, it can be recognized by means of how the author acknowledges that written accounts of people and their lives does in fact offer a valuable source of information, but it diminishes in comparison to what could actually be learned from those who actually come from that history. Additionally, in order to actually listen to history it's important to read it but it also means that we must be able to understand it. If we can understand history, we can use our understandings of history to apply it to history over time. History is important when listening to the past because of the fact that it gives people an understanding of how people's cultures have evolved over time. This also allows us to learn from the past and hopefully prevent making the same mistakes again in the future. Passing stories down is another important component in order to listen to history due to the fact that oral history has allowed us to construct the past and get more crucial details.
