2. Analyze the Learner
My class is a 10th grade geometry class which consists of 17 boys and 13 girls.
In my 30 student class, there are 10 African Americans, 4 Asian Americans, 6
Latin Americans, and 10 Caucasians. I also have 4 ADD/ADHD students
and 5 learning disabled students.
3. Main Objective
At the end of the unit, my students will split into groups of 4 to design and
draw a smooth ramp of their choice (wheelchair ramp, ATV ramp, dog ramp,
snow ramp, etc.). The drawing will be to scale, and students will label all
angles, dimensions, surface areas, research federal or common consumer
specifications, identify the best materials to produce the ramp, explain their
rationale for the dimensions and chosen materials, and present their design to
the class. Students will complete the 100 point project with no less than a
75%. A rubric will be distributed.
