2. “How To Live Before You Die”
Steve gave a speech to Stanford
graduates reflecting on some major
life decisions he made and how
they lead to the great
accomplishments he achieved over
the years.
He told a story about his
decision to drop out of college
which lead to him co-founding
Apple and deciding to restart
after being fired from Apple
and eventually co-founding
Pixar.
3. Dynamism:
4.5/5
Steve did a great job keeping the
students’ attention with intriguing stories
of his life where they ultimately knew
the ending but not necessarily the path.
He seasoned his speech with
humor, poking fun at Microsoft and
himself. My only criticism is, I think it
would have been better if he didn’t look
back to his paper as much and engadged
the audience with more eye contact.
4. Delivery:
Steve has an amazing sense of
confidence when he is publicly
speaking. He never seems
stressed or pressured while in
the spotlight. He appears to be
talking as if the audience was
just a small room of close
friends. His take on life
allowed him to do remarkable
things as well as become a
marvelous public speaker.
5. Comparison:
Sir Ken Robinson does an
amazing job of keeping his
audience’s attention by
making jokes relating to
his speech. He tells short
stories and one liners to
drive his point home
while sprinkling facts in as
well.
Steve Jobs told inspirational stories
about his life that intrigued the
audience while peppering humor in
it to keep things in perspective.
They both speak of incredible perspectives on society and life
in general. They have great input in their speeches to
demonstrate their outside the box thinking and how
important it is to think outside the box. They both display a
point of view that implies creativity is more valuable than
what it is credited for.
6. “You are already
Advice:
naked, there is no reason If I could give any advice I
not to follow your heart.” learned from Steve
Steve Jobs Jobs, it is to live every
day as if it is your last.
He lived by this concept
and in doing so it allowed
him to have the
confidence of a lion. He
believed in the idea if
you die tomorrow, all the
pride and fear of failure
will equal nothing.
