2. SCJP Version History
OCPJP
Oracle Certified Professional for Java Programmer is the certification
name referred by Oracle after takeover.
The OCPJP/SCJP version history:
• OCPJP 7 was designed and released by Oracle (exam code 1Z1-804) and it is
based on JDK 7.
No more SCJP :). The new exams are fully under Oracle brand with lot of changes
in terms of mandatory pre-certification or pre-training requirement.
• SCJP 6.0 was designated and released by Sun (exam code CX-310-065) and it was
based on JDK 6
• SCJP 5.0 was designated and released by Sun (exam code CX-310-055) and it was
based on JDK 5.
• SCJP 1.4 was designated and released by Sun (exam code CX-310-035) and it was
based on JDK 1.4.
• SCJP 1.2 was designated and released by Sun (exam code CX-310-025) and it was
based on JDK 1.2.

3. Options for SCJP
There are 3 options you can do SCJP (OCPJP)
certification.
• Option #1: Take OCAJP 7 and go for OCPJP 7. You need to spend
double the amount to complete these exams since it has two levels.
• Option #2: Take OCPJP 6 (SCJP 6) without any pre-certifcation
requirement.
• Option #3: Take OCPJP 5 (SCJP 5) without any pre-certifcation
requirement.

4. Preparation Tips
Select your OCPJP certification version and start
your preparation.
• Day 1: Open Oracle website and note down exam objectives
including how many questions and exam time. Read all exam
objectives and prepare a knowledge level chart to know where you
are in each topic.
• Day 2: Download EPractize Labs Training Lab for your certification.

• Day 3: Set goals based on your knowledge level chart prepared on
day 1. You can easily track your knowledge level milestone in

strength and weakness. Now adjust your goals based on actual

• Day 4: Open Basic Sessions and start reading the chapters one by
one. Take basic session exam once you complete your study. It is
recommended to complete one chapter at a time and finally take
exams for all chapters.
• Day 5: Open Advanced Sessions and start reading the chapters one
by one. Take advanced session exam once you complete your study.
It is recommended to complete one chapter at a time and finally take
exams for all chapters.
• Day 6: Now start preparing coding examples based on advanced
session training and understand each and every line of code. This
workout is very important to answer coding related questions. You
may need to answer basic and alternate flows like what exception
will be throws at some line number.

• Day 7 to 17: Try reading the same chapters and take exam from
sessions and via focus lab. This will improve your core skills required
to attend exam.
• Day 17 – 27: The Training Lab comes with session rewind quiz to
brush up your knowledge in quiz mode with brief explanations. Try
attending these exams by chapter wise and go for focus lab if
required. Repeat the exams until you get confidence.
• Day 27 – 50: The Training Lab comes with set of mock exams with
very good practice questions that match with real time exam
difficulty. Try attending these exams and go for focus lab if required.
Repeat the exams until you get confidence.
• Day 50– 55: Complete your study by taking Final Exam and know your
skill level. If required repeat your preparation (from any lab) for
another 3-4 days.
• Day 55– 58: Now you are ready to take your real exam. Schedule and
achieve your certification and enjoy with your colleagues and
friends.
