Icons and Archetypes
Dominic Aragona had been paid to protect the life of Harold Peterson, senate hopeful, but now the candidate was in the intensive care unit, clinging
to life. In the waiting room, Dominic sat with Peterson's oldest son, Lyle, each of them slumped in their chairs and visibly shaken. While Lyle was
not very large, lean and under six foot tall, the ex professional wrestler turned bodyguard was massive. Well over six feet with broad shoulders and
muscles that looked like his suit wouldn't contain them, Dominic made an imposing figure. That was when he didn't have his face in his hands, ready
to cry. "I'm sorry, Lyle," Dom said, almost in a murmur. Lyle was staring at the floor. "You said that already." The teenager sniffed, shifted in his seat
and then looked at Dominic. "And I already told you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There's something about celebrity status that kind of erases a person's social status and past history. The exception came with tell all books or
shows like behind the music, where childhood friends of the star were interviewed. Pro wrestlers were a little different. For a guy like Dominic, a
big guy who wasn't making a move from wrestler to actor, most people would not be interested in his story. They were missing the juicy stuff. Before
his big break, he'd been the type to mix it up with anyone, unafraid of personal harm. Usually, he was the guy inflicting the harm of some wanna be
tough guy. It was one such bar fight that had drawn the attention of an executive from the wrestling franchise who'd just been out to have a few
drinks. Dom's size, demeanor and ability to throw guys around like rag dolls were the attributes the company was looking for. But the wrestling career
was a dead end for him. Sure, the money was decent and it was fun to be recognized every once and awhile in public, however the rest was not
fulfilling. The bodily harm, backbiting and poor treatment from management had gotten

Defending Pro-wrestling Essay
As people flip through the channels on Monday nights they pass over at least two different professional wrestling shows. When people notice the
wrestling the most common thing for them to do is to keep flipping the channels. Why? Because the common view of professional wrestling is that it
is not real and it is stupid. Two years ago I thought the same thing about professional wrestling, in fact I refused to watch it. During the summer of my
junior year in high school my boyfriend and I made a deal – he would watch The Little Mermaid with me if I would watch wrestling, so I agreed. We
watched wrestling first and to my surprise it was not as bad as I thought. There are actual story lines that go on through the whole show, just like a soap

plus man up and throw him around a wrestling ring. The wrestlers train everyday and are true athletes. While most of the moves are fake they do
require there is risk involved. Countless wrestlers have been injured doing these “fake'; moves. Two good examples areBret Hart and
Owen Hart. Bret Hart was performing a move of the top rope and when he landed he broke almost all of his ribs. No one knew he was serious so
the show went on. Most people have heard about Owen Hart, who passed away this year while performing a routine entrance which involved being
lowered from the ceiling, the ropes broke and he plunged to his death. Every Monday night millions of people around the world are captivated by
professional wrestling. On Monday, November 3, 1999 8.75 million people tunedin to watch wrestling (www.wrestlezone.com 11/5/99). It is beat
out in the ratings only by Monday Night Football. Professional wrestling draws a huge live audience where ever they go. The shows are amazing
with all their acrobatics and story lines. Wrestling is a form of entertainment just like any other television show. Thousands of people tune in
everyday to soap operas such as General Hospital and One Life to Live because the story lines are designed to keep you coming back for more to see
what will happen next, the same is true for wrestling. Wrestling has story lines that range from marriages, sex, injuries, and even animals which are the

Professional Wrestling
Watching a well–built young man take a death–defying fifteen foot leap through a wooden table onto another man's prone body can be a thrilling
experience. The fact is if you are a fan of professional wrestling today you have grown used to these stunts as if they weren't as spectacular as they
sound.
Professional wrestling's recent boom in popularity began in the late 90's, but unlike it's past success it is not as safe as once was. While all theatrics the
stunts have continued to push the limits to levels that have never been seen before. The results of this constant risktaking can be seen in the early
retirements of many of pro–wrestling's brightest stars and rookies who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to this they also began to appreciate a new style of wrestling, a wrestling labeled as "extreme" wrestling.
"Extreme" wrestling was not your typical wrestling match in which the gladiators would exchange moves and holds as they built the match to it's
climax. In this type of wrestling, the competitors had replaced the generic moves with high–impact moves, steel chairs, barbed wire, wooden tables,
and jumps and falls that resemble movie stunts.
This new type of wrestling has been criticized as being just as dangerous to an athlete's health as steroids were to them in the past. This type of
wrestling has caused many of the upcoming wrestlers to become myths and legends before they even make it to television.
One great example of this is a wrestler known as Mick Foley. Foley never had physique or looks to be a professional wrestler. Instead, Mick had a
high threshold for pain and a great sense of humor. For Mick this ended up being a winning combination in the world of wrestling. He went on to
become one of the most beloved stars of all time but not before 17 years in wrestling destroyed both his body and mind. Mick's list of career injuries
is like a lesson in human anatomy. He has incurred a broken his cheekbone, jaw ,right wrist, nose (twice), left thumb, five ribs, and left toes. Mick has

Personal Narrative: Things Fall Apart
Sadly this isn't the first time I said this here as it seems I have said this far to often for my liking because I never like writing about the passing of
another wrestler. Unfortunately it seems most of the members of our favorite stars pass away very young as compared to some other sporting outlets.
The news broke late last night that former MMA fighter and most notably former pro–wrestler Sean O' Haire had passed away. I like most members of
the IWC was very saddened to hear the news and hoped that this new was false and Sean would come out and deny the rumors, sadly he did not and
it was later confirmed he had passed. For those who maybe unaware of Sean's past in wrestling he was a trainee of the WCW Power Plant and up on

Professional Wrestling Persuasive Speech
Once in a while, professional wrestling produces memorable moments and matches remembered for a lifetime. Unluckily, some matches occur which
don't meet our expectations. They are embarrassing, and only become memorable for being disastrous. I am bringing the pain for the third time; the
matches below are so bad you will wish you could erase your memory. Can you withstand the sheer power? Can you muster the strength to watch all
three matches in their entirety? Perhaps, in doing so, you will appreciate the average Smackdown match a little more? Maybe the Bella twins won't
appear as bad as they are? Sometimes you need to see the worst to appreciate what you have; it's the same in life, you can't always appreciate what you
have until it's gone.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So the match was the latest match to be rated –5 stars by the observer. Villano III entered with Villano IV and V for his retirement match, while the
Psycho clowns are known for their lengthy stints as six–man tag champs. It's immediately apparent why it's rated so low. There's no structure, no rules
being enforced, two referees stood around, Los Villanos taking it in turns to deliver sloppy, slow offense. You can see the clowns waiting around
outside to have their turn. The best spot of the match was the double suicide dive by the clowns. The clowns, despite them looking like heels, didn't
want to play the heels. The most cringing parts is one of the clowns using a yellow rag of some kind (even if anyone was to be DQ'd, it did zero
damage), deciding to pick up a chair only to show respect to Villano III and not use it, and the aborted pin–fall on Villano III as the clown didn't want
to pin him specificially. So after asking for one of the other Villanos, the third Villano comes in and is immediately held back by both referees for no
reason. The other Villano delivered a low–blow, and the second referee (who stood around doing nothing), suddenly decided to "turn around", and
count the pin. This is lucha libre at its worst! *The video quality can be changed to 720p*

Love Conquers All Trap in the film, The Wrestler
The film The Wrestler takes advantage of society's deep–rooted beliefs of domesticity. It teases and plays with one's heart until the very end when the
master narrative is surprisingly overthrown. Through its cinematic realism and clever marriage of typical plot structure and unconventional resolution,
The Wrestler creatively rejects this master narrative of domesticity.
The master narrative is a compelling force that dictates audience's expectations of stories. Master narratives are steeped in culture and are ingrained into
one from a young age. Audiences unwittingly accept the master narrative as how things ought to be. When reading a story or watching a film, the
master narrative can be so strong that audiences sometimes cannot accept or are shocked by a narrative that diverts from it.
One such master narrative is society's attitude toward domesticity. Preconceived notions of domesticity guide one through a story. This can easily be
seen in contemporary literature and film. One expects the "boy meets girl" and "they lived happily ever after" stories. One hopes for the characters to
fall in love, get married, and have 2.4 children, because that is how things should be. That is what will make the characters happy no matter what
obstacles they encounter. Audiences fall into the "Love Conquers All" trap.
It is no surprise that many stories present conventional forms of domesticity. It is derived from American heritage and religion. Take for example the
Puritans. They

Although there are legendary figures in sports that I could aspire to be as proficient as them, I'm more in favor of playing sports as a hobby. My
brothers were the ones to introduce wrestling to me, and over the years it has grown onto me. For me, wrestling dismisses the notions of joining other
sports like Football and Baseball that I don't have any notable natural ability to play. With it being one of the only physical activities I do, during the
wrestling season it is the only time that I am truly dedicated to staying fit and healthy. With the sport's rigorous training, it teaches discipline, while
building up willpower. And despite the sport's otherwise serious nature, the sheer unpredictability of a wrestling match can provide numerous ... Show

The one thing that the coaches are always telling us to do is to never give up. And that we should fight against that feeling to give in, no matter
how appealing it may be to give up. In wrestling you have to always be going somewhere or doing something, because if you don't you will end up
losing your position to your opponent. Having the will to keep fighting no matter what in wrestling is crucial for winning and being successful at
it. On a similar theme of being punctilious is cutting weight. In wrestling, there are weight classes, and for matches you have to be under a specific
weight to be able to wrestle. Sometimes that is a very simple thing to do, such as making sure you don't eat excessive amounts of food the night
before. However, other times you may have to sweat it off by running in uncomfortably hot clothing for lengthy periods of time. A wrestler has to
be diligent and be able to have the willpower to resist the urge to have a snack when they are hungry, or when they have to cut a large amount of
weight and practically starve themselves. Willpower is built up during wrestling, as you learn to endure and overcome whatever you have to do
without breaking and keep working forward. The concept is applicable not just to wrestling, but actually can be applied to real life as well. It could
help in pursuing a career, or pushing through extensive amounts of studying just to pass a hard course. Wrestling can teach discipline in carrying out a
rigorous task for later in life, and resisting

Wrestling teaches you more life skills than any other sports. Wrestling is great sport that teaches athletes so many valuable lessons about sports and
life in general.Wrestling is one of those sports that requires a lot of body control. You have to use your whole body to be able to win a match.
Wrestling develops personal responsibility and physically strength. Why should you wrestle? It teaches you self defense. Anyone can wrestle from
kindergarten to old men and women. It teaches you personal responsibility. No matter what life throws at you you can prepare for it, and come out
okay on the other side. There is no entitlement in wrestling. It doesn't matter where you are ranked or whether not your coach likes you, your value as
a wrestler depends on your most recent performance on the mat. In wrestling, you must constantly earn what you get.Wrestling teaches toughness.
Wrestlers get their mouths smashed, their noses bloodied, their eyes blackened and their joints twisted. Wrestling teaches athletes how to work

basketball and football, but they don't mean much in wrestling. Wrestling is a sport where small kids or heavy, but relatively short kids can be

Comparison Of Sasha Banks And Charlotte Flair
On Sunday night at the Hell In A Cell pay–per– view, events changed the current landscape of the WWE and in the process made history as well, I
will provide the three most significant matches on the card as well as the results.
1) Creating history
In wrestling, it is impossible as fans to see something new or innovative that has never been done before because wrestling has existed for years.
However, history was made last night both Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair were involved in the main event in a Hell In A Cellmatch. This has never
happened before on this magnitude especially at a pay–per– view.
I have to give the WWE respect because the entrances of both women were legendary and it just added to the anticipation of the match. Charlotte was
carried out like a queen to the ring on by men that were dressed in gladiator uniforms. Then it was only right to have "The Boss" come out last and
she arrived in her hometown in style in an Escalade.
I thought that the beginning of the match was booked perfectly; Charlotte decided to attack Banks out of nowhere before the unforgiving structure
came down. These two rivals battled on the outside, the fought into the crowd and then at ringside. Then they both fought on the side of the cell.
Charlotte came down the cell but Sasha still hanged onto the Cell itself, Charlotte then connected with a Powerbomb through the announce table.
Sasha Banks deserved to receive an Oscar award for selling performance which was absolutely

Professional Wrestling Should Not Be Viewed by Children
For years and years professional wrestling has been loved and watched by children everywhere. They idolize their favorite superstars and despise their
most hated. They stay up late on each and every Monday night to watch the muscular grapplers. Although it sounds like everything is all well and
good, there is a problem. In the past 24 months professional wrestling has become too raunchy for young children. The fact of the matter is this,
wrestling in the late nineties is not for kids.
There are many reasons for this but perhaps the most prominent is there is too much sex, violence and bad language on the program. They have done

That means that there are many children watching and seeing the violence and sex.
In a study performed by Indiana Universuty, they took notes of a year's worth of Monday Night Raw's, the WWF's flagship television show, and
came up with some very interesting information. Researchers found 1,658 situations in which WWF performers pointed to their crotch in a sexual
manner otherwise known as Degeneration X's patented crotch chop. They also found 434 insatnces when those famous Degeneration Xer's said their
favorite two word, which happen to be "suck it". These "role models" have caused an infinite amount of problems in elementary schools nationwide.
For example, in Manitoba, the Teacher's Aassociation put up a fight with TSN, the channel which airs RAW in Canada, to either move RAW to a later
time slot or take it off the air altogether. This fight was started due to kids running around in the playground screaming "suck It" and doing crotch
chops while wearing t–shirts covered with the WWF's other obsene slogans such as "Austin 3:16 just whooped your ass". The first step the teachers
took was to ban the t–shirts and to give the children punishments if they got caught performing a Degeneration X trademark. Then since the kids
relentlessly kept doing the gestures, the teacher's went to the press. They stated that seeing as the WWF superstars were bad influences on the children,
they wanted The

Summary Of The Aria Of Babyface Cauliflower Brown
In casual conversation, the topic of professional wrestling is usually met with childhood nostalgia or careless disdain for its seemingly childish nature.
In "The Aria of Babyface Cauliflower Brown," Tim Grant approaches this scorn by carefully delving into the drama and developing a fresh
perspective, insisting that it isn't simply a fake sport, it's a real story. Tim Grant's purpose is not to suggest that the chokeslam and piledriver are
legitimate, instead he suggests that professional wrestling obtains justice in an otherworldly way; inspiring crowds through the timeless tale of good
versus evil. In totality, pro wrestling is not meant to be 'real;' it isn't meant to fool the eye and suggest amazing feats of strength, instead, it's a way of
transforming a parable into a visual and interactive work of art.
The exposition of the Op–Doc reveals a universal demographic, introducing a selection of prepubescent boys accompanied by parents and
grandparents. The hall possesses an electric atmosphere, loudly bustling as each attendee finds their seat. The children partake in exuberant preparatory
excitement as the promoter declares that the waiting would soon end, some raising their arms in triumph and exclaiming, others hurriedly scanning for
their favorite wrestler. As the camera cuts between the stage and the audience throughout the main event, the younger portion of the audience appears
intensely interested, suggesting that pro wrestling can not only hold their attention, but

Sports Influence In Sports
The value of sports can be concluded into one word: influence. It is undeniable that in modern society, sports play a pivotal role in influencing the
cultivation of the individual's human nature and mind. More than often so, the individual mind is indirectly affected by the sports' "hero–like"
character that is projected by the glorified images in the game setting. Drenched in sweat, harsh lighting casted upon the athlete–––creating
distinguished shadows–––it alludes its audience of the grit required to endure the obstacles that all athletes faced. The manner in which this is
presented proclaims of hopes and dreams for those who aspire to pursue their dreams, especially in professional sports. The scale of its influence can
be measured by the development of adopting a "game mentality" in dire times, especially when challenged by obstacles in life. The concept of it has
progressively changed as the athlete's actions and thoughts translate into its spectators and eventually society itself in a positive manner. Society's
perception of character in sports is positively reflected on its athletes as the essence of sports brings forth an impact on an individual's psyche,
behavior, and philosophy on the abstractions of life. Dedication, endurance, and driven, these are only a few of the adjectives one would use to
describe the common athlete, be it professional or amateur. The strength of the human mind is remarkable and is shown most prominently in an athlete.

The sport of wrestling is one of the world's oldest sports and one of the oldest sports in the United States. Wrestling was the third sport added to the
National Collegiate Athletic Association (INTEXTCITATION.) In recent years, wrestling has been fighting to keep the sport alive in the Olympics.
Even though wrestling seems like a simple sport, the wrestling mats, weigh–in scales, and score tables cost a lot of money and the small amount of
viewers that wrestling has compared to other sports like swimming or track, makes wrestling an easy choice to cut back on. Despite wrestling being

The Olympic games is the largest stage of competition. There is nothing bigger than the Olympics and nothing like it. I would affect change on the
Olympic level by petitioning that the sport of wrestling must include a hydration test and a blood sugar test at every weigh in. This will ensure that
every wrestler is fed and hydrated during weigh–ins and consequently will make weight cutting impossible. I am certain that I can get the signatures
for my petition because the only reason wrestlers cut weight is because other wrestlers cut weight; however, if everyone agrees to stop cutting weight
and agree to have these tests along with weigh ins, all wrestlers will be able to focus on getting better with an improved attitude and less injuries. This
change of attitude and increased level of performance in wrestling will change the image of spectators from outside the sport of wrestling and an
increase of viewers because the sport will be more fun to watch. My change in the Olympic Games would contribute the transformation of American

Then on the mat I would use these moves and take control of the match. At practice I also worked on different moves to set up attacks so I would gain
points. I would also work outside of practice on my movies just shadow wrestling in my basement, just going through the motions until I felt

Pathos In Mike Kinnney Speech
More often than not the human race finds itself dispirited and lacking the necessary confidence to live life to the fullest. An average job, strange
personality, or an excessive amount of self–consciousness can make a huge dent in the average person's confidence. However, former pro wrestler
Mike Kinney would argue that "you are more than you think you are." The strange and unique traits someone possesses can be seen as a
confidence killer, or they can be "turned up" to transform yourself into the better version of you. Mike Kinney creates a highly effective argument
through the strong use of pathos, his vibrant character, and his undoubted credibility. The stage is set, the lights are dimmed, and the spotlight
shines down upon former pro wrestler Mike Kinney. Throughout Kinney's speech, he uses pathos to help appeal to the audience's emotions and
persuade them to accept and approve of his ideas. The strongest and most effective use of pathos happens towards the middle of Kinney's speech.
"Not long after I started wrestling, my dad unexpectedly passed away. And as you can imagine, especially as a teenage boy, it destroyed me"(3:39).
Kinney uses a very strong emotional appeal when he tells the audience that his dad has passed away at a very young age. This is such an effective
appeal because anyone who has lost someone important in their life knows how hard it can be. If the speaker himself has lost someone important to
him, not only does this make the audience sad, they

more widely when discussing national promotions, like WWE and Total National Action (TNA), then independent promotions or the indies, like the
World Wrestling Alliance (WWA) an indy company based out of Central City, Kentucky. There are basically two types of wrestlers: superstars, who are
the male competitors, and divas, who are the female competitors. The superstars and divas can be either heel, a bad guy, or face, a good guy. When
the wrestler switches from face to heel it is called a heel turn likewise when they switch from heel to face it is a face turn. The superstar and diva
also portray a certain character or 'gimmick' when they wrestler, that may continue for a short or long time considering how the fans react to it.
When referring to the wrestler's status level, there are three overall types: the jobber, who is usually a newer, unknown wrestler whose main job is
to lose to the better known wrestlers. The jobber may also be considered too "green" or inexperienced and prone to make more mistakes. Then
there are the midcarders who wrestle more in the middle of the event and are seen as being a top wrestler but not a big money drawer. The highest
status a wrestler can achieve is to be considered a main eventer. A main eventer is seen as the best of the company and one of the top money
drawers on the roster and usually get to compete at the end of the show also known as the main event. The individuals who accompany the wrestler
to the ring but do not actually complete are referred to as the wrestlers manager or valet. A manager is usually a male who accompanies the wrestler
while a valet is usually a female. The main goal of a manager or valet is to put over or hype up

Is Wrestling Good Or Bad
The feeling of walking on the mat, the cool air, adrenaline flowing, being ready to give everything to win, after intense practice and major training,
its finally time to show that the hard work has finally paid off, but why would anyone want to be in danger all for fun and games, maybe because
wrestling is the sixth most popular sport in the world, it requires extensive training and full dedication and it has for years.
The art of wrestling was found to be dated over 15,000 years ago in the time of the cave man, in France, then through Egyptians and Romans it was
changed to be more of a sport than a defensive skill, therefore it was less brutal ("History"). The Egyptians started a style called belt wrestling and the

Best Wrestlers In Professional Wrestling
Every year the biggest event in all of professional wrestling is held; which is known as wrestlemania. Everybody came to watch everyone to wrestle,
but that was before the appearance of the Undertaker. He was the most demonic wrestler of all time. He was straight from hell. He started preying on
some of the best wrestlers of all the wwe. He started with Jimmy Snuka, Jake "The Snake" Roberts (2–0), Giant Gonzalez (3–0), King Kong Bundy
(4–0), Diesel (5–0). Every year he came back for more. He was stronger than any other man that's ever been in the ring.. This phenom was like nothing
anyone had ever seen. He tore them apart, had no mercy, and did not care who it was he beat them. Man after man he rolled through them taking one
win at a time. Some wondered when this terror would end others thought that it would not. Every year he would come back for another superstar, he
knew no limit. Vince McMahon (the owner of the wwe) was getting worried that this terror that reigned over them would last forever. He sent his
best wrestlers after him and time and time again they came back empty handed. He tried to plead with him, he sent in some of his lower wrestlers as
sacrifices, but there was no making a deal with the devel. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The ethnic restaurant I chose to visit was El Banditos on Market St. in Iowa City. It is a charming little Mexican restaurant that is filled with all sorts
of different characteristics that make it ethnic. I chose to explore this restaurant because of how unknown and underrated it was. I personally have
never noticed or heard of it before. It is across the street from Blue Bird Diner which many people have been to and not many of them would be able
to identify that this restaurant is just across the way. The small atmosphere and authentic feel of the restaurant was evident before one enters the

These are well known things and celebrations in Mexican culture. The Day of the Dead is a traditional holiday that celebrates the lives of friends and

families gather around to watch together. There were countless old bullfighting posters and some newer versions.
Keeping up with the Mexican culture was their menu. All the recipes are from the family passed down over many years. The original El Banditos

vendors around here. Their menu consisted of classic Mexican dishes such as chips and salsa or guacamole, tacos, enchiladas, burritos, fajitas, soups,
and much more. They also served Mexican style breakfast food which I have not seen before which I found very interesting. In addition to a colorful

The Satirical Nature Of Professional Wrestling Is A Sport
Today, professional wrestling is a sport that has risen in popularity and is enjoyed by many across the globe. As an avid sport consumer I often find

nature of professional wrestling, I personally believe that wrestling can be considered a sport. Similar to athletes in other sports, professional wrestlers

Professional Wrestling: A Trend among Children
Professional Wrestling has become one of the trends among people especially children. Leng et al in a literature review from their article their article
(pg 45) explain profession wrestling as more of a source of entertainment than a sport where there is a portrayal and dramatization of good versus evil.
My paper will focus extensively on television violence with respect to professional wrestling and its effects on children; it will also assert sexuality with
in professional wrestling.
According to statistics from Monday Cable Ratings, WWE Raw on Monday nights have been on top of the charts in the between January 28th and
April 29th this year with the April 29th show having 4652 viewers leaving NBA playoffs– Round 1 L with 3921 viewers. However, there was a tie in
the adult 18–49 ratings with both shows getting 1.8 views (BIBEL,2014). One cannot talk about professional wrestling and its violent effect on
children without talking or focusing on television violence. Professional wrestling is a type of entertainment which some people will describe as "a
soap opera for men". This type of entertainment can be justified as not the only type to depict violence as most of its storyline involve talking (mostly
humorous) more so than fighting. Most people may suggest that professional wrestling is not real and children and adolescents are aware of that by
stating in most of their shows that stunts should not be tried at home or in school but what is the assurance to this in this

Back then, "Kayfabe" was the implicit rule that the wrestlers always stay in character during the show and in public appearances to maintain the illusion
professional wrestling was a real sport and everything that happened in the ring was real. (E–Wrestilg Wikia, n.d.) While today, there is no pretense,
everyone knows that outcomes are scripted, and it is even called Sports Entertainment. Still, though, many fans yearned for the old days. So, in 2005 ...

From a national perspective, the U.S. wrestling team has competed phenomenally well despite the international disadvantages that they face. For
example American athletes practice and compete in an entirely different style of wrestling then the rest of the world. These athletes practice Folkslye
while the rest of the participating nations practice Freestyle and Greco–Roman. The past and present success of the U.S. is discussed on the official
United World Wrestling web page. Author Jason Bryant summarizes the recent occurrence of the wrestling World Cup in Los Angeles. The United
States had an amazing performance against the Russian national team in the semi–finals of the tournament. The America team won the dual match in
an exhilarating tiebreaker. This victory ensured the team the opportunity to compete against Iran, another dominant national team. Bryant (2015) sums

When your an athlete you are expected to always be at your best mentally and physically. However not always is this the case as lots of people tend

my and several others opinions the most mentally and physically taxing sport in the world, and in my first experience at a tournament it was
simultaneously the worst and best experience in my sporting career so far that is.
So to start off I started wrestling at 12 and it was the some of the best times ever in practice in sports because I felt good and I had fun. And I would

How Wrestling Has Influenced My Life
Much of my life has been influenced by the sport of wresting. My father is the head wrestling coach of the high school I attend; my whole life I have
watched the sport, and spent time with his past teams. In the fifth grade I told my father that I no longer wanted to continue wrestling; we made a deal
that when I reached high school I would join the team and if I still felt that wrestling was not a sport I wanted to pursue, I could quit again and end my
career.
When I entered high school, my brother had already been attending the same school and wrestling for my dad on the school team, so adapting to high
school and high school sports was more simple for me than other students. The winter of my freshman year I was, as I had promised my father, out for
the wrestling team. Weighing one hundred and six pounds I won the starting spot on varsity, and had a fairly successful freshman season.
Unfortunately, my season did not end in the manner I had hoped, so I decided to continue my high school wrestling career for another year.
The summer following my freshman year I decided that if I was going to stick with wrestling I should invest time into developing my lost skills
from my days of wrestling as a child, and strive to win a state title as a sophomore. My sophomore year was an important year for my family, since it

culture. Even though the comic book that originally facilitated him to gain an enormous celebrity status is long gone, his films are still available on

Before the Attitude Era, everything was PG and suitable for all ages but around this time, parents would hate for their children to watch Raw

loved it and it is still know today as the best era in wrestling. The Attitude Era was such a success for WWE that their competition, WCW and ECW,

Icons And Archetype Essay

  • 1. Icons And Archetype Essay Icons and Archetypes Dominic Aragona had been paid to protect the life of Harold Peterson, senate hopeful, but now the candidate was in the intensive care unit, clinging to life. In the waiting room, Dominic sat with Peterson's oldest son, Lyle, each of them slumped in their chairs and visibly shaken. While Lyle was not very large, lean and under six foot tall, the ex professional wrestler turned bodyguard was massive. Well over six feet with broad shoulders and muscles that looked like his suit wouldn't contain them, Dominic made an imposing figure. That was when he didn't have his face in his hands, ready to cry. "I'm sorry, Lyle," Dom said, almost in a murmur. Lyle was staring at the floor. "You said that already." The teenager sniffed, shifted in his seat and then looked at Dominic. "And I already told you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There's something about celebrity status that kind of erases a person's social status and past history. The exception came with tell all books or shows like behind the music, where childhood friends of the star were interviewed. Pro wrestlers were a little different. For a guy like Dominic, a big guy who wasn't making a move from wrestler to actor, most people would not be interested in his story. They were missing the juicy stuff. Before his big break, he'd been the type to mix it up with anyone, unafraid of personal harm. Usually, he was the guy inflicting the harm of some wanna be tough guy. It was one such bar fight that had drawn the attention of an executive from the wrestling franchise who'd just been out to have a few drinks. Dom's size, demeanor and ability to throw guys around like rag dolls were the attributes the company was looking for. But the wrestling career was a dead end for him. Sure, the money was decent and it was fun to be recognized every once and awhile in public, however the rest was not fulfilling. The bodily harm, backbiting and poor treatment from management had gotten ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Defending Pro-wrestling Essay As people flip through the channels on Monday nights they pass over at least two different professional wrestling shows. When people notice the wrestling the most common thing for them to do is to keep flipping the channels. Why? Because the common view of professional wrestling is that it is not real and it is stupid. Two years ago I thought the same thing about professional wrestling, in fact I refused to watch it. During the summer of my junior year in high school my boyfriend and I made a deal – he would watch The Little Mermaid with me if I would watch wrestling, so I agreed. We watched wrestling first and to my surprise it was not as bad as I thought. There are actual story lines that go on through the whole show, just like a soap ... While most of the moves are fake they do require there is risk involved. Countless wrestlers have been injured doing these “fake'; moves. Two good examples areBret Hart and Owen Hart. Bret Hart was performing a move of the top rope and when he landed he broke almost all of his ribs. No one knew he was serious so the show went on. Most people have heard about Owen Hart, who passed away this year while performing a routine entrance which involved being lowered from the ceiling, the ropes broke and he plunged to his death. Every Monday night millions of people around the world are captivated by professional wrestling. On Monday, November 3, 1999 8.75 million people tunedin to watch wrestling (www.wrestlezone.com 11/5/99). It is beat out in the ratings only by Monday Night Football. Professional wrestling draws a huge live audience where ever they go. The shows are amazing with all their acrobatics and story lines. Wrestling is a form of entertainment just like any other television show. Thousands of people tune in everyday to soap operas such as General Hospital and One Life to Live because the story lines are designed to keep you coming back for more to see what will happen next, the same is true for wrestling. Wrestling has story lines that range from marriages, sex, injuries, and even animals which are the same things that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay on Professional Wrestling Professional Wrestling Watching a well–built young man take a death–defying fifteen foot leap through a wooden table onto another man's prone body can be a thrilling experience. The fact is if you are a fan of professional wrestling today you have grown used to these stunts as if they weren't as spectacular as they sound. Professional wrestling's recent boom in popularity began in the late 90's, but unlike it's past success it is not as safe as once was. While all theatrics the stunts have continued to push the limits to levels that have never been seen before. The results of this constant risktaking can be seen in the early retirements of many of pro–wrestling's brightest stars and rookies who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to this they also began to appreciate a new style of wrestling, a wrestling labeled as "extreme" wrestling. "Extreme" wrestling was not your typical wrestling match in which the gladiators would exchange moves and holds as they built the match to it's climax. In this type of wrestling, the competitors had replaced the generic moves with high–impact moves, steel chairs, barbed wire, wooden tables, and jumps and falls that resemble movie stunts. This new type of wrestling has been criticized as being just as dangerous to an athlete's health as steroids were to them in the past. This type of wrestling has caused many of the upcoming wrestlers to become myths and legends before they even make it to television. One great example of this is a wrestler known as Mick Foley. Foley never had physique or looks to be a professional wrestler. Instead, Mick had a high threshold for pain and a great sense of humor. For Mick this ended up being a winning combination in the world of wrestling. He went on to become one of the most beloved stars of all time but not before 17 years in wrestling destroyed both his body and mind. Mick's list of career injuries is like a lesson in human anatomy. He has incurred a broken his cheekbone, jaw ,right wrist, nose (twice), left thumb, five ribs, and left toes. Mick has also seperated his right shoulder, herniated two ... • 4. Personal Narrative: Things Fall Apart Sadly this isn't the first time I said this here as it seems I have said this far to often for my liking because I never like writing about the passing of another wrestler. Unfortunately it seems most of the members of our favorite stars pass away very young as compared to some other sporting outlets. The news broke late last night that former MMA fighter and most notably former pro–wrestler Sean O' Haire had passed away. I like most members of the IWC was very saddened to hear the news and hoped that this new was false and Sean would come out and deny the rumors, sadly he did not and it was later confirmed he had passed. My first memory of wrestling was in fourth grade when I was wrestling someone who was way bigger than me. He just kicked my butt. What has been the funniest moment you've had with your wrestling team? The funniest moment with my wrestling team has probably been having fun with other teams after tournaments in the Wisconsin Dells. What are your goals for this season? I want to be a state champion this year, and I want to win team state with my team. Will you wrestle in college? I am still thinking about it, but I would like to, yes. How long have you been wrestling/ I wrestled in fourth grade and then I stopped. I started again in seventh grade. How often do you practice? What is the most exciting moment you've had in your wrestling career? The most exciting moment was probably last year when I won conference. It was just a great feeling to beat somebody who I knew was also really good, and then just celebrate with my teammates and coaches afterwards. As you look back at past seasons, what has been your proudest moment? My proudest moment was probably last year from the middle of January until the end of February. I didn't lose a match. • 6. Professional Wrestling Persuasive Speech Once in a while, professional wrestling produces memorable moments and matches remembered for a lifetime. Unluckily, some matches occur which don't meet our expectations. They are embarrassing, and only become memorable for being disastrous. I am bringing the pain for the third time; the matches below are so bad you will wish you could erase your memory. Can you withstand the sheer power? Can you muster the strength to watch all three matches in their entirety? Perhaps, in doing so, you will appreciate the average Smackdown match a little more? Maybe the Bella twins won't appear as bad as they are? Sometimes you need to see the worst to appreciate what you have; it's the same in life, you can't always appreciate what you have until it's gone.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So the match was the latest match to be rated –5 stars by the observer. Villano III entered with Villano IV and V for his retirement match, while the Psycho clowns are known for their lengthy stints as six–man tag champs. It's immediately apparent why it's rated so low. There's no structure, no rules being enforced, two referees stood around, Los Villanos taking it in turns to deliver sloppy, slow offense. You can see the clowns waiting around outside to have their turn. The best spot of the match was the double suicide dive by the clowns. The clowns, despite them looking like heels, didn't want to play the heels. The most cringing parts is one of the clowns using a yellow rag of some kind (even if anyone was to be DQ'd, it did zero damage), deciding to pick up a chair only to show respect to Villano III and not use it, and the aborted pin–fall on Villano III as the clown didn't want to pin him specificially. So after asking for one of the other Villanos, the third Villano comes in and is immediately held back by both referees for no reason. The other Villano delivered a low–blow, and the second referee (who stood around doing nothing), suddenly decided to "turn around", and count the pin. • 7. Love Conquers All Trap in the film, The Wrestler The film The Wrestler takes advantage of society's deep–rooted beliefs of domesticity. It teases and plays with one's heart until the very end when the master narrative is surprisingly overthrown. Through its cinematic realism and clever marriage of typical plot structure and unconventional resolution, The Wrestler creatively rejects this master narrative of domesticity. The master narrative is a compelling force that dictates audience's expectations of stories. Master narratives are steeped in culture and are ingrained into one from a young age. Audiences unwittingly accept the master narrative as how things ought to be. When reading a story or watching a film, the master narrative can be so strong that audiences sometimes cannot accept or are shocked by a narrative that diverts from it. One such master narrative is society's attitude toward domesticity. Preconceived notions of domesticity guide one through a story. This can easily be seen in contemporary literature and film. One expects the "boy meets girl" and "they lived happily ever after" stories. One hopes for the characters to fall in love, get married, and have 2.4 children, because that is how things should be. That is what will make the characters happy no matter what obstacles they encounter. Audiences fall into the "Love Conquers All" trap. It is no surprise that many stories present conventional forms of domesticity. It is derived from American heritage and religion. Take for example the Puritans. They ... • 8. Wrestling Persuasive Essay Although there are legendary figures in sports that I could aspire to be as proficient as them, I'm more in favor of playing sports as a hobby. My brothers were the ones to introduce wrestling to me, and over the years it has grown onto me. For me, wrestling dismisses the notions of joining other sports like Football and Baseball that I don't have any notable natural ability to play. With it being one of the only physical activities I do, during the wrestling season it is the only time that I am truly dedicated to staying fit and healthy. With the sport's rigorous training, it teaches discipline, while building up willpower. The one thing that the coaches are always telling us to do is to never give up. And that we should fight against that feeling to give in, no matter how appealing it may be to give up. In wrestling you have to always be going somewhere or doing something, because if you don't you will end up losing your position to your opponent. Having the will to keep fighting no matter what in wrestling is crucial for winning and being successful at it. On a similar theme of being punctilious is cutting weight. In wrestling, there are weight classes, and for matches you have to be under a specific weight to be able to wrestle. Sometimes that is a very simple thing to do, such as making sure you don't eat excessive amounts of food the night before. However, other times you may have to sweat it off by running in uncomfortably hot clothing for lengthy periods of time. A wrestler has to be diligent and be able to have the willpower to resist the urge to have a snack when they are hungry, or when they have to cut a large amount of weight and practically starve themselves. Willpower is built up during wrestling, as you learn to endure and overcome whatever you have to do without breaking and keep working forward. The concept is applicable not just to wrestling, but actually can be applied to real life as well. It could help in pursuing a career, or pushing through extensive amounts of studying just to pass a hard course. • 10. Comparison Of Sasha Banks And Charlotte Flair On Sunday night at the Hell In A Cell pay–per– view, events changed the current landscape of the WWE and in the process made history as well, I will provide the three most significant matches on the card as well as the results. 1) Creating history In wrestling, it is impossible as fans to see something new or innovative that has never been done before because wrestling has existed for years. However, history was made last night both Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair were involved in the main event in a Hell In A Cellmatch. This has never happened before on this magnitude especially at a pay–per– view. I have to give the WWE respect because the entrances of both women were legendary and it just added to the anticipation of the match. Charlotte was carried out like a queen to the ring on by men that were dressed in gladiator uniforms. Then it was only right to have "The Boss" come out last and she arrived in her hometown in style in an Escalade. I thought that the beginning of the match was booked perfectly; Charlotte decided to attack Banks out of nowhere before the unforgiving structure came down. These two rivals battled on the outside, the fought into the crowd and then at ringside. Then they both fought on the side of the cell. Charlotte came down the cell but Sasha still hanged onto the Cell itself, Charlotte then connected with a Powerbomb through the announce table. Professional Wrestling Should Not Be Viewed by Children Essay Professional Wrestling Should Not Be Viewed by Children For years and years professional wrestling has been loved and watched by children everywhere. They idolize their favorite superstars and despise their most hated. They stay up late on each and every Monday night to watch the muscular grapplers. Although it sounds like everything is all well and good, there is a problem. In the past 24 months professional wrestling has become too raunchy for young children. The fact of the matter is this, wrestling in the late nineties is not for kids. There are many reasons for this but perhaps the most prominent is there is too much sex, violence and bad language on the program. They have done many extreme things that should only be seen by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That means that there are many children watching and seeing the violence and sex. In a study performed by Indiana Universuty, they took notes of a year's worth of Monday Night Raw's, the WWF's flagship television show, and came up with some very interesting information. Researchers found 1,658 situations in which WWF performers pointed to their crotch in a sexual manner otherwise known as Degeneration X's patented crotch chop. They also found 434 insatnces when those famous Degeneration Xer's said their favorite two word, which happen to be "suck it". These "role models" have caused an infinite amount of problems in elementary schools nationwide. For example, in Manitoba, the Teacher's Aassociation put up a fight with TSN, the channel which airs RAW in Canada, to either move RAW to a later time slot or take it off the air altogether. This fight was started due to kids running around in the playground screaming "suck It" and doing crotch chops while wearing t–shirts covered with the WWF's other obsene slogans such as "Austin 3:16 just whooped your ass". The first step the teachers took was to ban the t–shirts and to give the children punishments if they got caught performing a Degeneration X trademark. Then since the kids relentlessly kept doing the gestures, the teacher's went to the press. They stated that seeing as the WWF superstars were bad influences on the children, they wanted The ... • 12. Summary Of The Aria Of Babyface Cauliflower Brown In casual conversation, the topic of professional wrestling is usually met with childhood nostalgia or careless disdain for its seemingly childish nature. In "The Aria of Babyface Cauliflower Brown," Tim Grant approaches this scorn by carefully delving into the drama and developing a fresh perspective, insisting that it isn't simply a fake sport, it's a real story. Tim Grant's purpose is not to suggest that the chokeslam and piledriver are legitimate, instead he suggests that professional wrestling obtains justice in an otherworldly way; inspiring crowds through the timeless tale of good versus evil. In totality, pro wrestling is not meant to be 'real;' it isn't meant to fool the eye and suggest amazing feats of strength, instead, it's a way of transforming a parable into a visual and interactive work of art. The exposition of the Op–Doc reveals a universal demographic, introducing a selection of prepubescent boys accompanied by parents and grandparents. The hall possesses an electric atmosphere, loudly bustling as each attendee finds their seat. The children partake in exuberant preparatory excitement as the promoter declares that the waiting would soon end, some raising their arms in triumph and exclaiming, others hurriedly scanning for their favorite wrestler. • 13. Pro Wrestling : Professional Wrestling "Professional wrestling's most mysterious hold is on its audience," Luke Neely. Professional wrestling has been entertaining audiences since the 1860's but what exactly is professional wrestling. Pro wrestling is an athletic form of entertainment that is based on the portrayal of highly exaggerated combat. It began in carnivals, shortly after the civil war, and gained widespread popularity in the 1980's thanks to the reappearance of World Wrestling Federation, WWF, on network television. Through the years, pro wrestling has continued captivating its fans. Although viewed as a barbaric, uneducated group of individuals, professional wrestling fans are a group with many forms of communications through their own slang terms, live events, and blogs. To begin, there are many misconceptions about wrestling fans, the main being that they 're just a bunch of uneducated, young, barbarian men. To try and dispute some of these we will examine the viewer demographic of World Wrestling Entertainment(WWE). Fifteen million fans, in the United States alone, tune in on a weekly basis to watch WWE. In 2014, WWE reported that thirty–five percent of their audience was female and in reports this year has showed an increase of two percent. The increase in female viewers have been contribute to the changing dynamics of their female roster and how people have come to view female athletes. • 14. Sports Influence In Sports The value of sports can be concluded into one word: influence. It is undeniable that in modern society, sports play a pivotal role in influencing the cultivation of the individual's human nature and mind. More than often so, the individual mind is indirectly affected by the sports' "hero–like" character that is projected by the glorified images in the game setting. Drenched in sweat, harsh lighting casted upon the athlete–––creating distinguished shadows–––it alludes its audience of the grit required to endure the obstacles that all athletes faced. The manner in which this is presented proclaims of hopes and dreams for those who aspire to pursue their dreams, especially in professional sports. The scale of its influence can be measured by the development of adopting a "game mentality" in dire times, especially when challenged by obstacles in life. The concept of it has progressively changed as the athlete's actions and thoughts translate into its spectators and eventually society itself in a positive manner. Society's perception of character in sports is positively reflected on its athletes as the essence of sports brings forth an impact on an individual's psyche, behavior, and philosophy on the abstractions of life. Dedication, endurance, and driven, these are only a few of the adjectives one would use to describe the common athlete, be it professional or amateur. The strength of the human mind is remarkable and is shown most prominently in an athlete. Their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wrestling was the third sport added to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (INTEXTCITATION.) In recent years, wrestling has been fighting to keep the sport alive in the Olympics. Even though wrestling seems like a simple sport, the wrestling mats, weigh–in scales, and score tables cost a lot of money and the small amount of viewers that wrestling has compared to other sports like swimming or track, makes wrestling an easy choice to cut back on. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Olympic games is the largest stage of competition. There is nothing bigger than the Olympics and nothing like it. I would affect change on the Olympic level by petitioning that the sport of wrestling must include a hydration test and a blood sugar test at every weigh in. This will ensure that every wrestler is fed and hydrated during weigh–ins and consequently will make weight cutting impossible. I am certain that I can get the signatures for my petition because the only reason wrestlers cut weight is because other wrestlers cut weight; however, if everyone agrees to stop cutting weight and agree to have these tests along with weigh ins, all wrestlers will be able to focus on getting better with an improved attitude and less injuries. • 16. High School Wrestling Research Paper Wrestling has been a very important factor in my life ever since someone suggested it my freshman year of high school. Even though I have not wrestled a lot I would say I am very literate in the sport. Throughout the sport I worked hard on many different types of moves so I would have an arsenal on the wrestling mat. Every day at practice I would always practice the main attack movies such as my single and my double leg takedowns. Then on the mat I would use these moves and take control of the match. At practice I also worked on different moves to set up attacks so I would gain points. I would also work outside of practice on my movies just shadow wrestling in my basement, just going through the motions until I felt comfortable on that move. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Personal Narrative-Wrestling Football season just ended, meaning I had a couple weeks to recoup until my favorite season started––wrestling. Wrestling has run in the family for decades, each generation breaking a record or making it to state. With the few weeks to recoup, I picked up some extra hours at work. I clean at the local YMCA, so I don't have much interaction with kids or anyone really, but I like it that way. My friend who works the front desk, Jimmie, greets me as I walk in, "Hey Porter." "Hey Jim," I give him a quick wave as I branch off to the right to make my way to my closet. I start my routine of getting in my coveralls so I don't get my actual clothes too dirty. I mean, I already know them, but not how to do them blind. Each day of the week we practice something different. Yesterday was single leg takedowns. I've got those down for the most part, except I keep putting my head in the wrong spot. My face is very sore to say the least. Today we are working on the sweep single. I have to grab the opponent's lower leg, and pull the knee to the outside. This causes the opponent to fall on his back. Jimmie isn't easy to take down either since he's a good 50 pounds heavier than I. Time and time again, Jimmie's leg barely moved. I need to lift more so I can have more strength against my opponents. • 18. Pathos In Mike Kinnney Speech More often than not the human race finds itself dispirited and lacking the necessary confidence to live life to the fullest. An average job, strange personality, or an excessive amount of self–consciousness can make a huge dent in the average person's confidence. However, former pro wrestler Mike Kinney would argue that "you are more than you think you are." The strange and unique traits someone possesses can be seen as a confidence killer, or they can be "turned up" to transform yourself into the better version of you. Mike Kinney creates a highly effective argument through the strong use of pathos, his vibrant character, and his undoubted credibility. The stage is set, the lights are dimmed, and the spotlight shines down upon former pro wrestler Mike Kinney. Throughout Kinney's speech, he uses pathos to help appeal to the audience's emotions and persuade them to accept and approve of his ideas. This is such an effective appeal because anyone who has lost someone important in their life knows how hard it can be. Professional wrestling has been captivating audiences since the 1860's but what is professional wrestling and its fans. Pro wrestling is an athletic form of entertainment that is based on the portrayal of highly exaggerated combat. It began in carnivals, shortly after the civil war, and gained widespread popularity in the 1980's thanks to the reappearance of World Wrestling Federation, WWF, on network television. Although viewed as a barbaric, uneducated group of individuals, professional wrestling fans are a group with many forms of communications through their own slang terms, live events, and blogs. The creation of these terms was established to not only describe the wrestlers, but also the fans and the overall show. Most of these terms are used more widely when discussing national promotions, like WWE and Total National Action (TNA), then independent promotions or the indies, like the World Wrestling Alliance (WWA) an indy company based out of Central City, Kentucky. There are basically two types of wrestlers: superstars, who are the male competitors, and divas, who are the female competitors. The superstars and divas can be either heel, a bad guy, or face, a good guy. When the wrestler switches from face to heel it is called a heel turn likewise when they switch from heel to face it is a face turn. The superstar and diva also portray a certain character or 'gimmick' when they wrestler, that may continue for a short or long time considering how the fans react to it. When referring to the wrestler's status level, there are three overall types: the jobber, who is usually a newer, unknown wrestler whose main job is to lose to the better known wrestlers. The jobber may also be considered too "green" or inexperienced and prone to make more mistakes. Then there are the midcarders who wrestle more in the middle of the event and are seen as being a top wrestler but not a big money drawer. The highest status a wrestler can achieve is to be considered a main eventer. A main eventer is seen as the best of the company and one of the top money drawers on the roster and usually get to compete at the end of the show also known as the main event. Leng et al in a literature review from their article their article (pg 45) explain profession wrestling as more of a source of entertainment than a sport where there is a portrayal and dramatization of good versus evil. My paper will focus extensively on television violence with respect to professional wrestling and its effects on children; it will also assert sexuality with in professional wrestling. According to statistics from Monday Cable Ratings, WWE Raw on Monday nights have been on top of the charts in the between January 28th and April 29th this year with the April 29th show having 4652 viewers leaving NBA playoffs– Round 1 L with 3921 viewers. One cannot talk about professional wrestling and its violent effect on children without talking or focusing on television violence. Professional wrestling is a type of entertainment which some people will describe as "a soap opera for men". This type of entertainment can be justified as not the only type to depict violence as most of its storyline involve talking (mostly humorous) more so than fighting.
