In this presentation I would like to share with you the history and tradition of Okinawa Japan. I will provide facts about the island and some great history that help this island to enter into our history book. I will also talk about the religious and food tradition that this island have. So let get started.
Okinawa Prefecture is located southwest of mainland Japan, at 24 degrees to 27 degrees north latitude and 122 degrees to 128 degrees 30' east longitude. Okinawa can be found between mainland Japan and Taiwan in the Pacific Ocean and is considered an International resort destination. Okinawa is found in the same latitude zone as the other famous beach resort destinations such as Hawaii, Florida, and the Bahamas
Beginning in April of 1945, over fifty years ago on an island in the Pacific, American and Japanese men fought and killed each other as never before. Caught in the crossfire between these warring powers were the native inhabitants of Okinawa. The battle's significance has been lost despite the unprecedented events that occurred during those eighty-two days.” (Lacey, 2003). The battle of Okinawa was one of the largest sea-land-air battles in history, running from April through June, 1945. The people of this island were told to hold on to their island at no cost. That mean the will die first before the hand over their land to the American, but the Japanese’s did know that the American military had a great plan all ready put into place
