Stranded Kayak Summary
Title: Stranded kayaker rescued then arrested; Latah County, Idaho; March 15, 2016. Summary: A
man was stranded in the Ptlatch River in northern Idaho which had led to him being arrested after he
was rescued. Police were called in and informed that there was a man who went missing while
kayaking. Before the man was rescued and arrested, he went out with a friend and lost his kayak
when it became submerged in the river. He swam to shore and contacted authorities that he was
unable to find his partner who was also with him. When he was finally rescued, he was quickly
arrested because it turned out he was a wanted man in Idaho for Forgery. I think this affects the
world because it gives everyone a warning to beware who you are trying to save. If anything they

Title: Mom invents 'booby trap bra' for protection. United States. March 15, 2016. Summary:
Woman creates a bra that can store many self–defense tools. Jennifer Cutrona was training for a
marathon back in April 2015 when all of sudden a man had attacked her in the middle of her run.
She then started bringing a knife stuffed in her bra as she ran but realized that it was very
uncomfortable and very risky so she had a new idea in mind; create a new bra. The bra she had
patented and manufactured was capable of storing knives and pepper spray. Many people have
purchased this item because they believe every woman should always be protected. This affects the
world because now woman can have an accessible area to keep knives/pepper spray to probably
mess some creepy dude up if they try to attack them. An outcome of this is that woman are now able
to carry really sharp knives and deadly sprays with them at all times without anyone knowing until it
is too late. Title: Pigeons start wearing backpacks and are on the rescue; Europe. March 16,

> After a night of sex, Vivian is ready to leave in the morning. It is perfunctory for her to have sex

Edward, ever concerned with work, needs a "date" for the upcoming week for the sake of
appearances. He wishes to employ Vivian for the next week as his "date." He says that he is paying
her three thousand dollars "be at [Edward's] beck and call." Here he is treating Julia like a prostitute.
The nature of their relationship is pendulous, moments of a nascent love to moments of business and

On June 2, 1985, Officer Daniel Wright, of the San Francisco Police Department, was dispatched to
a lumberyard where a shoplifting had just occurred. Upon arrival, a store employee informed the
officer that an Asian man had concealed a bench vice in his jacket and was seen placing it in the
trunk of a 1980 Honda Prelude., and when the employee attempted to question the man he quickly
fled on foot. Officer Wright looked into the vehicle and discovered a bag that contained a silenced

Lake's ex–wife had informed authorities of a very remote area where Lake and Ng had stayed. After
confirming the information, Police obtained a search warrant of the premises. When the warrant was
executed more findings consisted, of blood, bullet casings, and a room that had a bed rigged with
restraints. Other items such as women's clothing, blood soaked blankets, videos, and stolen
equipment were also found. Police also searched a sophistically built bunker that contained a library
of videos, torturing instruments, and a holding cell. An incinerator was also located on the premises.
Police then leveled the bunker in an attempt to find human remains on the property. With all this
evidence and information investigators were left with one suspect who had taken his own life, and
another who was at large. A nation wide man hunt was issued on Charles Ng. The last of Charles
Ng's whereabouts were that of him picking up his last pay check, packing up important items such
as ID's and pass ports and abandoning his apartment.
Far from California hiding in Calgary Canada, Charles Ng manages to elude authorities for thirty
four days although his affinity for shoplifting lead to his capture just as it had for Leonard Lake. On
July 6, 1985, two security guards approached Ng, who had just shoplifted grocery items, when the

"According to the article in the website factanddetails.com, in 2003, Vietnam produced an estimated
30.7 million cubic meters of wood. Production of sawn wood was a more modest 2,950 cubic
meters." In 1992, in order to solve the forest depletion problem, Vietnam set a ban on the export of
logs and raw timber. In 1997, the ban was expanded widely to all timber products except wooden
artifacts. During the 1990s, Vietnam began to reclaim land for forests with a tree–planting
program."The reason why Vietnam implemented such ban is because Vietnam has many challenges
such as high population growth, increasing demand for food, and unprompted migration. Especially
in sensitive economic areas where agricultural production is profitable, natural forests have been
imposed and converted into agricultural land. The size and quality of the forests has been rejected
unabated, directly threatening the lives of people in the mountainous areas and cause a variety of
other impacts. About 100 000 hectares of forests are lost every year.

The Importance Of A Balanced Diet Full Of Essential...
We need a balanced diet full of essential vitamins and minerals to help our body function at the
optimum level, our bodies cannot create vitamins and minerals and therefore we have to get them
from the food we eat. They are essential in making proteins and helping cells to grow and repair.
There are 2 main types of essential vitamins, water–soluble and lipid–soluble.
Water–soluble vitamins cannot be stored in the body, so we have to eat them every day, as they are
excreted through urine. They are found in fruits, vegetables and grains. The vitamins can be
destroyed by heat and cooking.
The essential water–soluble vitamins are:

It is involved in making red blood cells and keeping the nervous system healthy, it also releases
energy from the food we eat and helps to process folic acid. It can be found in meat, fish such as
salmon, cod and dairy products such as milk, cheese, eggs and some fortified breakfast cereals. A
lack of this vitamin can lead to vitamin B12 anaemia. Adults need around 0.0015mg of vitamin B12
each day.
Vitamin C – this is also known as ascorbic acid. It helps to protect cells and keep them healthy; it is
also involved in wound healing and is necessary in the maintenance of connective tissue. It can be
found in oranges and orange juice, red and green peppers, fruits such as strawberries and
blackcurrants and green leafy vegetables such as broccoli, brussels sprouts and it can also be found
in potatoes. Adults need 40mg of vitamin C each day and a lack of this can lead to Scurvy.
Lipid–soluble vitamins are mainly found in fatty foods. These vitamins do not need to be eaten
every day as they are stored in the liver and fatty tissues. They are found in foods that are quite high
in fats such as butter and lard, vegetable oils, dairy foods, liver and oily fish.
The essential lipid–soluble vitamins are:
Vitamin A – this is also known as retinol. It strengthens the immune system, helps with vision in dim
light, and keeps the skin and lining of parts of the body healthy. It can be found in dairy products

A Brief Note On Pharmacology And The Nursing Process
Digoxin
Oluchi Madubuike
University of Texas at Arlington
Pharmacology and the Nursing Process
N3365–001
Sandra Laird
April 1, 2015 OVERVIEW OF DIGOXIN
Origin
Digoxin is a drug gotten from the leaves of a digitalis plant ("Digitalis," 2015, para. 1). We
commonly refer to this plant as foxglove but we also use its botanical name, which is Digitalis
purpurea when discussing it ("Digitalis," 2015, para. 2). Foxglove is a popular flower that can be
found growing along the roadsides and in meadows or waterlogged areas usually in the western
region of the United States ("Digitalis," 2015, para. 2). Although this plant can now be found in
America, European immigrants originally brought Foxglove into the United States centuries ago
("Digitalis," 2015, para. 2). William Withering first described the therapeutic effect of this plant in
1785 ("Digitalis," 2015, para. 4).
Drug Class
Digoxin is grouped under a class of drugs known as cardiac glycosides (Lilley, Collins, & Snyder,
2014, p. 387). Cardiac Glycosides are a class of drugs known as cardiac drugs (Lilley, Collins, &
Snyder, 2014, p. 387). They are the oldest group of cardiac drugs that are recognized to have
beneficial effects on people with failing heart and help in controlling the heart's ventricular rate
(Lilley, Collins, & Snyder, 2014, p. 387). These drugs help make the heart beat stronger and with a
more regular rhythm. In previous years, cardiac glycosides (digoxin) were used as the first line
drugs for heart

mayroong sanga–sangang epekto gaya ng gutom, krimen, corruption, kawalan ng tamang
edukasyon, unemployment at iba pa.

Today, nothing's changed. Don Kirkpatrick remains one of the most influential and thought–
provoking thinkers and writers in the field of performance management and the development of
human talent in organizations. Most human resource management professionals are familiar with
Don's contribution to the field of training and development through his development of what now is
commonly referred to as ''Kirkpatrick's Four Levels of Evaluation.'' Don observed that the
evaluation of a training program's effectiveness begins with Level One–Reaction. How well did the
participants like the program? But too many evaluation efforts don't go any further than a smile
sheet. More important than how people felt about the program, Don told us, was Level Two–
Learning. Did the participants learn the skills the program was designed to teach? Did they do better

less of how much they liked the program, did they actually acquire the skills the program intended
to teach them? But that's still not enough. While users may have liked the program and scored high
on the final exam, the next level–Behavior–is much more important. Are the participants using what
they learned back on the job? Have the trainees transferred their new skills and learnings to their
everyday environment? Finally–and here comes the bottom–line question–has all this effort made
any difference? Yes,

Ati Cell Essay
Human subjects and ATII cell isolation
Human lungs were donated for medical research by the Gift of Life Donor Program from
deidentified control non–smoker and smoker organ donors. We selected donors with lung function
with a PaO2/FIO2 ratio of >250, a clinical history and x–ray that did not indicate infection, and
limited time on a ventilator. Non–smokers were individuals who never smoked and smokers smoked
5–20 cigarettes per day for at least 3 years. Lung tissue from patients with emphysema (GOLD IV)
was obtained from lung volume reduction surgery through Temple Biobank at Temple University,
Philadelphia, PA (N = ... per group). ATII cells were isolated as we previously described (REF).
Briefly, after elastase (Roche Diagnostics, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

staining for cytokeratin CAM 5.2 [15].
Chest CT scans ADD cores to supplementary
Patients underwent volumetric CT scans of the chest at full inspiration (standard dose = 200mAs)
and at end–tidal expiration (low dose = 50 mAs). Detailed CT protocols have been previously
published [17]. Performed CT scans were subjected to a standard quality control procedure. We used
3D SLICER software for computerized image analysis [18]. Emphysema was quantified by the
percent of the lung voxels on inspiratory CT scan with attenuation < −950 HU (Insp−950) [19]. It
was considered absent in subjects with values for Insp−950 (–– removed HTML ––) 14% in
smokers. We obtained lung tissue cores from areas with mild and severe emphysema from the same
patient from transplantation as previously described (N=8) [21]. Briefly, lungs were removed from
the thorax, inflated with air and frozen using liquid nitrogen vapor followed by cutting into 2–cm
thick slices in the same plane as the CT scan. Lung tissue cores were collected from areas with mild
and severe emphysema using a sharpened steel cylinder diameter of 1 cm. They were processed for
Western blotting as descried below. Subjects provided written informed consent prior to surgery for
use of these specimens and the relevant clinical and

Hospitality Operations Management
Hospitality Operations Management
Operations management concerns with managing of resources that directly produce the
organization's service or product. These resources are brought together by a series of processes so
that they are utilized to deliver the primary service or product of the organization. Thus, operations
is concerned with managing resources through transformation processes to deliver service or
products. (Rowbotham, Galloway and Azhashemi, 2007) Since the mid–1980s, the rate of growth of
major service sector categories as hospitality services, has been approximately double that of other
industries (Daley et al., 1998). Due to the unique characteristics of service operations, such as
heterogeneity, inseparability, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Information Technology such as Property Management System (PMS) can assist operations
managers in collecting guest information in regards to the daily occupancy and number of rooms
that have breakfast inclusive. This will benefit forecast the capacity in an effective and efficient way.
There is no doubt that better capacity decisions can be made if the demand can be forecast
accurately (Betts et al., 2000). Operations managers can better organize staff and equipment, which
will enhance the service operations. However, there are still limitations in using the occupancy
forecast in predicting the demand in breakfast time of Ava Restaurant, as operations managers are
unable to accurately predict the demand of breakfast from walk–in customers.
In order to solve the problem of unexpected demand in the breakfast period, the adoption of advance
booking is recommended. The hotel can encourage customers to make reservations prior to
breakfast time in order to enjoy discounts. Harrison (1993, p. 130)
states, "Demand may be managed through the encouragement of non–peak purchasing through
pricing and promotional activity". As a result, operations managers have a better forecast in
anticipation for the actual service operation. A balance of supply and demand can be managed
effectively; consequently high service quality and efficient operation can still be maintained, even
during the peak

Taking a Look at Validation Models
Schemas are important validation tools which can ensure data is valid and well formed for use.
There are different varieties that can be used to verify a document and ensure conformance to
standards. Some use a tree hierarchy and others just simple constructs. Lee and Chu (2000) note the
following in their paper; DTD, XSD, SOX, Schematron and DSD. Fawcett et al (2012) mention
Schematron, DTD, RELAX NG, and XSD. I will discuss some of these in comparison to DTD and
XSD which are follow–ons from this week's Schema discussions.
DTD
This Schema type on uses attributes and elements and follows a hierarchy in structure type. It is very
simplistic and uses few attribute definitions, and does not follow XML type syntax. However,
despite its simplistic nature, it is the most widely used standard according to Lee and Chu (2000).
XSD
The true XML Schema Definition is very different from DTD in that it can be very granular in its
descriptive elements and follows XML syntax rules. This can make it very powerful, in its support
of namespaces and true data types, allowing for better conformity and use in data transformation and
query. Another strength of XML Schema is it inheritance, which can simplify some reuse of
attributes and combining of Schema documents. Its weakness goes hand in hand with its strength as
the complexity it allows for causes confusion by all but the most advanced users according to
Fawcett et al (2012).
RELAX NG

The Addiction And Its Effects On The American Economy
Workaholism, defined broadly as work addiction, still lacks a specific, widely accepted definition,
even though it is becoming increasingly prevalent in the United States. As job insecurity has
increased following the Great Recession and technology has allowed for employees to be constantly
connected to the office (Shifron & Reysen, 2011; Foster, 2014), people often find themselves
working more. Indeed, Americans are taking less time off than they have in the past (All Work,
2014) and 25–30% identify as workaholics (Robinson, 2001 as cited in Shifron & Reysen, 2011).
There is still a debate over whether workaholism is a genuine addiction/disease, or just the set of
associated behaviors, i.e. working excessively, thinking ceaselessly about ... Show more content on

Additionally, productivity seems to plateau after a certain amount of weekly working hours. One
study found that increasing working hours to over 60 per week caused productivity to increase for
three to four weeks, then decline sharply (Covert, 2014), while another found that productivity
declined after 49 hours per week, regardless of the weeks worked (Pencavel, 2014 as cited in C.W.,
2014). By studying data from World War I munitions workers, the latter study provided a direct,
concrete measure of productivity, while the former focused on more modern, white collar work,
suggesting that decreases in productivity with increased work hours can be observed across a broad
spectrum of career fields. In addition, Ng, Sorenson, & Feldman (2007) reported that although
working longer hours led to greater job performance in the short term, it took a toll on performance
in the long term because of the decline in employee health. In addition to excessively long work
hours, a lack of vacation time negatively affects productivity. However, American workers often do
not or cannot take a vacation. The United States is the only advanced nation that does not guarantee
paid vacation, while European countries allow for 20 to 30 paid days off annually (Covert, 2014;
Olen, 2014). Even with these

First Clinical For Med Surg Essay
On this second clinical for med–surg, I felt a bit more comfortable being on the floor. Before starting
this clinical I had set a goal for myself to perform well and complete my assessment as thorough as
possible. For pre–assessment I was set on just choosing a patient and not being afraid on what kind
of diagnosis they had or how many medications they were on. As I selected my patient, I noticed
that he had many medications and had had an ST–elevation myocardial infarction. I didn't want to
scare myself off from selecting this patient and caring for him on clinical day. Clinical day started
slow, I was a bit anxious about waking my patient up that morning but I knew I had to go in. I woke
him slowly and took his vitals and proceeded with my assessment. As I assessed my patient, his wife
came in to his room and I introduced myself. During the morning I found out that my patient was
being discharged. Before discharge, my patient was going to be fitted for a LifeVest. The LifeVest is
a defibrillator that is placed in a vest that patient is able to wear under his cloth. The vest helps save
and individual in cardiac arrest. My patient was going to use this device because of his cardiac
condition and due to his recent MI; these factors put him at a higher risk of cardiac arrest. It was
amazing to watch how all the technology in the vest can save someone's life. Watching my patient
through his vest fitting and teaching was the highlight of the day. It was the first time that I

Blooms Taxonomy Of Learning In 1956, Benjamin Bloom headed a group of educational
psychologists who developed a classification of levels of intellectual behavior important in learning.
During the 1990 's a new group of cognitive psychologists, lead by Lorin Anderson (a former

The Risks And Hazards Associated With Risk Reduction And...
Introduction
Extreme caution is exercised when examining pregnant patients, as the health of both the mother
and foetus is considered. The ALARA ( As Low As Reasonably Practicable) principle applies across
all imaging modalities. This essay looks at Computed Tomography(CT), Magnetic Resonance
Imagine (MRI) and Ultrasound (US), modalities used disease and pathology diagnosis. It will look
at the scientific principles. Comparing the risks and hazards associated with each modality when
examining pregnant patients. Risk reduction and safety will be discussed.

MRI and Ultrasound, CT produces ionizing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Compton Scattering is when an electron causes an x–ray photon to change direction (Ball, Moore&
Turner, 2008). The change in direction causes energy loss, resulting in longer wavelengths. The
energy lost by the photon is gained by the electron, this electron is ejected from the electron shell.
CT can be described as an x–ray tube and detectors, located in the gantry, parallel to each other, able
to rotate 360° in a continuous motion, illustrated in Appendix 1.4. The continuous motion allows for
the collection of an ongoing stream of information. The development of slip rings eliminated the use
of cables, allowing the continuous rotation, increasing scan time (Kalender, 2011)
The patient table moves the patient through the gantry, allowing for patient positioning without
moving the body. The detectors convert and amplify the x–ray beams into electric signals. The
computer knows the exact position of the tube and detectors, along with the number of pixels the
beam went through and the dose measurement. Each pixel corresponds to a Hounsfield unit; this is
the attenuation value of a corresponding voxel (Opplet, 2005). The attenuation value is compared to
that of water. Hounsfield units represent shades of grey; this quantifies beam attenuation. These
units are interpreted using computer algorithms, producing an image.

Thesis Statement Of Architectural Drawing
CHAPTER 1: THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
Introduction
"An artist can make a cart with square wheels, but an architect can't" – Louis Kahn, American
Architect.
An architectural drawing is a technical drawing of a structure or building. These are used by
architects to develop a design, to communicate their ideas and concepts, to convince clients, to
enable a building contractor to construct it, and to make a record of a building that already exists.
Drawing, sketches and animations are just some of non–verbal languages used by architects to show
their works. Truly, architects communicate through drawings. Architecture students are going to be
doing a lot of drawing in their five years. Sketching and drawing will seems to be the foundation ...

It may help them to decide whether the students will continue pursuing architecture or not.
College Architecture Students
The study can also help the college architecture students to enhance their drawing skills. Also, this
research can encourage architecture students who have low confidence because they think that being
not good in drawing is a hindrance in succeeding.
College Architecture Professors
The College Architecture Professors will understand more the capabilities of each student.
Professors may conclude that not all the students have the talent or the same level of skills in
drawing. This research will increase the awareness of the professors about the differences of the
students and how to adjust to help them to enhance their drawing skills.
Future Researchers
The research can also be beneficial to the future researches since the information presented in the
study may be used as reference in conducting related researches. This study will also give them a
background and overview about the importance of drawing skills for architecture students.

INTRODUCTION
Acute coronary syndrome is a term used for any condition brought on by sudden, reduced blood
flow to the heart. Acute coronary syndrome symptoms may include the type of chest pressure that
you feel during a heart attack, or pressure in your chest while you 're at rest or doing light physical
activity (unstable angina). The first sign of acute coronary syndrome can be sudden stopping of your
heart (cardiac arrest). Acute coronary syndrome is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Your doctor will probably order several tests to figure out the cause of your chest pain. These tests
may include a blood draw to check your cholesterol and blood sugar levels. If you need these tests,
you 'll need to fast to get the most accurate results. Your doctor will tell you if you need to fast
before having these tests, and for how long.
Your doctor may also want to perform imaging tests to check for blockages in your heart and the
blood vessels leading to it
Tests and diagnosis
If you have signs and symptoms of acute coronary syndrome, your doctor may run several tests to
see if your symptoms are caused by a heart attack or another form of chest discomfort. If your
doctor thinks you 're having a heart attack, the first two tests you have are:
Electrocardiogram (ECG).This is the first test done to diagnose a heart attack. It 's often done while
you 're being asked questions about your symptoms. This test records the electrical activity of your
heart via electrodes attached to your skin. Impulses are recorded as "waves" displayed on a monitor
or printed on paper. Because injured heart muscle doesn 't conduct electrical impulses normally, the
ECG may show that a heart attack has occurred or is in progress.
Blood tests. Certain heart enzymes slowly leak into your blood if your heart has been damaged by a
heart attack. Emergency room staff will take samples of your blood to test for the

Tympanic Membrane Research Paper
Tympanic Membrane and Thyroid Gland
Tabatha Hopkins

Tympanic Membrane and Thyroid Gland The tympanic membrane and thyroid gland are two of the
many features that will assessed on a patient. When abnormalities or disruption in the normal
function of either of these persist, permanent damage can occur. To know if there is a disruption in
the normal function, we must know what the normal function and purpose is. This paper will review
possible finding for the tympanic membrane, how to examine the thyroid gland, and give an
assessment note using the subjective, objective, assessment, and plan (SOAP) note format.

The Culture Of A Chinese Culture
Chinese companies belongs to the family corporate culture type, it has a person oriented culture. The
ethnics of the person are more important than the task he or she takes. The leader makes decision
and dominates. Malagasy culture is more based on laws and regulations. A Chinese values survey is
developed by Hofstede and Bond(1980) to explore cultural values in 22 Asian and western countries
from the Chinese social values. In this survey, Confucian dynamism which refer to "the acceptance
of legitimacy of hierarchy and valuing of perseverance and thrift, all without undue emphasis on
tradition and social obligations which could impede business initiative" (Franke, Hostede and Bond
1991, p.167 quoted in Lin & Ho 2009). It is found out to boost the performance of national
economics. Confucianism is one of the foundation of Chinese culture, which shape the way of
competing and managing human resource (Lin & Ho 2009). This human oriented theory, can be
applied to the management of business organizations and human resource management. This
character is also valued in Malagasy culture. These characters are important for a healthy business
environment although they may take on a different form. Due to the effect of China 's long–term
planned economy and traditional culture, managers advocate, moralize, emphasize the process from
cultivation oneself to pacify others, pursue stability and fear change, don 't take risk, thus it hard for
them to catch unanticipated opportunities ,

Hong Kong Comics: Mass Culture?
Hong Kong Comics: Mass Culture?
Introduction
When I was first given the project topics to study, I decided to write a research paper on local
comics without a second thought. As a Hong Kong people, local comics have took an irreplaceable
position in my memory. Reading Old Master Q (老夫子) and Ngau Zai (牛仔) in the public libraries
was one of the best memories in my childhood. Hence I want to carry out a study on local comics as
a remarkable genre of the local popular culture. However, as Ng Wing Yee Ross (2002) said, the
research has been done on the local comics is insufficient and usually done by comic lovers. And
that implies one of the reasons why local culture being accused as shallow, loose and distracted, we
don't have adequate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Strinati D.,2004) Hence mass culture is accused of being immoral, cheap and vulgar. Yet due to the
limited and monotonous topics of mass culture, the cultural products can be produced under "Fordist
Production" (i.e. to massively produce the standardized products with specialized streamline
operation and division of labor). (Enda Brophy., 2008)
Mass Culture, all in all, is those profit–driven cultural products that are mass–produced for mass
consumed by the mass society through mass media. For the reason that the aim of mass culture is to
gain by satisfying the social desire of entertainment instead of expressing the ideas and feelings of
the creators, the output is regarded as a "commodity" but not a "composition". Mass Culture is also
charged to be a "pseudo–culture", it is not culture as a matter of fact.
1.2 How local comics are considered as Mass Culture?
This theory seems to be a fair description of the development of local comics in the 1970s, if we
consider the comics created by Tony Wong(黃玉郎) and Shangguan Xiaobao(上官小寶) as the
"mainstream".
In the 1970s, the problem of corruption and triads were very serious. Hong Kong citizens suffered
from the joint bully of the gangs and public servants (e.g. police, firemen). Tony Wong used that as
background and created the comic "Dragon Tiger Gate" (Official Name: Oriental Heroes). It seems
to be a heroic comic that show rebelling the current situation, but it in fact consisted massive

Mechanical Response And Failure Behavior Of A Defective...
Molecular Simulations on the Mechanical Response and Failure Behavior of a Defective Graphene:
Cases of Stone–Thrower–Wales (5–7–7–5) defects
G. Rajasekaran Rajesh Kumar and Avinash Parashar Department of Mechanical and Industrial
Engineering Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee – 247667, India
ABSTRACT
Structural defects which are inevitable during the production, chemical and heat treatment processes
can affect the mechanical properties of graphene and also defects can be deliberately introduced in
graphene by ion beam irradiation to get required properties for specific applications. So,
understanding the effect of defects on mechanical properties and failure behaviours of a graphene
sheet is important for its applications. In this work, the effects of linear and angular orientation of
different types of Stone–Thrower–Wales (STW–1 and STW–2) defects on the mechanical properties
and failure behaviour of graphene membrane have been investigated in the frame of molecular
dynamics. This work discussing about tuneable mechanical properties by amending the linear
orientation of STW–1 and STW–2 defects at different angles in zigzag direction and armchair
direction respectively. The results obtained from the present work may provide the insights in
tailoring the mechanical properties by preparing defects in graphene, and give a full picture for the
applications of graphene with defects in flexible electronics and nanodevices.

The Chronic Disease Burden Has Increased The Need For A...
The chronic disease burden has increased the need for a statewide and national approach in its
detection, prevention, and treatment of heart failure. In the state of Indiana heart disease is shown to
be leading the way with a total of 13,394 individuals who have died in 2013 (Indiana State, 2013).
The health indicators show that although the mortality rate has decreased from 42.3 per 100,000 in
2001 to 37.3 per 100,000 hospitalization rates have increased (Center for Disease, 2011). Heart
failure rehospitalization rate has increased from 2007–2011 especially in those who are over the age
of 85. In 2011, there were a total of 41.9 per 1,000 hospitalizations due to heart failure. This is
gradually increasing from the Healthy People 2020 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cardiac muscle cells can be affected by heart disease through the inability to maintain its
homeostasis through the calcium pump. If there is excess calcium within the heart it results in the in
ability of the heart muscle to relax. As a result, the ADP/ATP ratio increases, phosphocreatine
decreases, and energy stores are depleted. Furthermore, this imbalance affects the energy needed to
relax the left ventricle. Secondly, diastolic heart failure can occur from changes in preload, afterload,
renin–angiotension–aldosterone system, and the sympathetic nervous system. These changes affect
the fibrillar collagen within the extracellular matrix that affects the ability of the ventricular to relax.
These changes along with those compensatory mechanisms results in continuous resistance that
results in increased in left ventricular end–diastolic pressure (McCance & Huether, 2010). Systolic
heart failure results from the inability of the cardiac muscle to contract effectively from inadequate
cardiac output. As the cardiac output drops, compensatory mechanisms to try to restore its function
through takes place by ventricular remodeling. During this remodeling phase, the heart begins to
develop changes in its size and becomes hypertrophic that results in a decreased ability of the heart
to contract, decreased available oxygen, and available ATP. Secondly, this hypertrophic states
increases preload that results

Should Parents Be Legal?
Pregnancy can be one of the most life–changing and exciting experience a mother could ever have.
When a woman is pregnant, one of the most common questions that people will ask is, "Is the baby
a boy or a girl?" Parents have the opportunity to find out the sex of the baby beforehand by going
through a procedure known as an ultrasound. An ultrasound relies on sound waves to create an
image of the baby in the uterus. This safe and painless procedure normally takes place between 18–
20 weeks of pregnancy. Thanks to the advancement in our technology, parents have the ability to
determine the gender of their offspring. Gender selection is available all around the world but is
illegal in certain countries such as China, India, Australia, Canada, and the UK. As a result of the
ban on gender selection in these countries, people who wish to go through with this procedure must
make a trip to the U.S where it is legal. This raises the question of whether parents should be
allowed to choose the sex of their baby as well as the pros and cons associated with this procedure.
Everyone has different opinions on whether or not parents have the right to select the gender of the
offspring. Some may agree with it and some are against it because they feel like it is unethical and it
goes against nature. However, at the end of the day, it is up to the parents to make the decision, for it
is freedom of choice. There is no reason as to why parents should not have the right to have
determined the

Speach Therapy Treatment Plan Essay
Treatment plan Articulation: Goal: In 6 weeks, with a treatment frequency of 5 hours a week, mrs.
K. speaks words with velar sounds (/ng/ /g/ /k/) in a 1–to–1 conversation with an acquaintance in an
intelligible way. Methods: First we will check which velar sounds mrs. K. can produce better than
the others. After that, we will do articulation exercises. We will train syllables in a CV order and
words in CVC–order, but soon we will train syllables and words with clusters to make it more
difficult. Mrs. K. has a moderate flaccid dysarthria, so we think that she can manage it to train in the
beginning with complex words. That way, she will also have a higher chance of transfer to CVC–
words (Maas et al., 2008, p. 2). The words we will use in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Methods: We will use mime therapy. According to Beurskens & Heymans (2006, p. 1) mime therapy
improves facial symmetry and reduces the severity of paresis in people with facial nerve paresis.
The aim of mime therapy is to promote symmetry of the face at rest and during movement
(Beurskens et al., 2004, p. 208). In therapy, a mirror is used as feedback instrument, as it is
necessary to see how exercises are performed. We choose to do the mime therapy in our therapy
planning because mrs. K. revealed that she wants to smile arbitrary in a symmetric way again. We
conclude from the case example that this is a very important goal for her. We expect mrs. K. to do
homework every day. She has to massage her face and neck (daily 10–15 minutes) to relax the facial
musculature and improve circulation and she has to do relaxation exercises. Evaluation: According
Beurskens et al. (2004, p. XX), the House–Brackmann scale is used to evaluate positive changes in
the facial symmetry. We expect an improvement for 1 grade (Beurskens et al., 2004, pag 210).
Prosody: Later on, we want to work on the prosody, because she has a low and monotone voice.
That could be a problem when she wants to read to her grandchildren. We expect it also to be a
problem for her intelligibility when she is conversing with other people. We think that the
articulation problems have priority at this moment, so we start with that. After

She then started bringing a knife stuffed in her bra as she ran but realized that it was very uncomfortable and very risky so she had a new idea in mind; create a new bra. The size and quality of the forests has been rejected unabated, directly threatening the lives of people in the mountainous areas and cause a variety of other impacts. A Brief Note On Pharmacology And The Nursing Process Digoxin Oluchi Madubuike University of Texas at Arlington Pharmacology and the Nursing Process N3365–001 Sandra Laird April 1, 2015 OVERVIEW OF DIGOXIN Origin Digoxin is a drug gotten from the leaves of a digitalis plant ("Digitalis," 2015, para. 1). We commonly refer to this plant as foxglove but we also use its botanical name, which is Digitalis purpurea when discussing it ("Digitalis," 2015, para. 2). Foxglove is a popular flower that can be found growing along the roadsides and in meadows or waterlogged areas usually in the western region of the United States ("Digitalis," 2015, para. 2). Although this plant can now be found in America, European immigrants originally brought Foxglove into the United States centuries ago ("Digitalis," 2015, para. 2). William Withering first described the therapeutic effect of this plant in 1785 ("Digitalis," 2015, para. 4). Drug Class Digoxin is grouped under a class of drugs known as cardiac glycosides (Lilley, Collins, & Snyder, 2014, p. 387). Cardiac Glycosides are a class of drugs known as cardiac drugs (Lilley, Collins, & Snyder, 2014, p. 387). They are the oldest group of cardiac drugs that are recognized to have beneficial effects on people with failing heart and help in controlling the heart's ventricular rate (Lilley, Collins, & Snyder, 2014, p. 387). These drugs help make the heart beat stronger and with a more regular rhythm. In previous years, cardiac glycosides (digoxin) were used as the first line drugs for heart ... These resources are brought together by a series of processes so that they are utilized to deliver the primary service or product of the organization. Thus, operations is concerned with managing resources through transformation processes to deliver service or products. (Rowbotham, Galloway and Azhashemi, 2007) Since the mid–1980s, the rate of growth of major service sector categories as hospitality services, has been approximately double that of other industries (Daley et al., 1998). Operations managers can better organize staff and equipment, which will enhance the service operations. However, there are still limitations in using the occupancy forecast in predicting the demand in breakfast time of Ava Restaurant, as operations managers are unable to accurately predict the demand of breakfast from walk–in customers. In order to solve the problem of unexpected demand in the breakfast period, the adoption of advance booking is recommended. The hotel can encourage customers to make reservations prior to breakfast time in order to enjoy discounts. Harrison (1993, p. 130) states, "Demand may be managed through the encouragement of non–peak purchasing through pricing and promotional activity". • 86. Taking a Look at Validation Models Schemas are important validation tools which can ensure data is valid and well formed for use. There are different varieties that can be used to verify a document and ensure conformance to standards. Some use a tree hierarchy and others just simple constructs. Lee and Chu (2000) note the following in their paper; DTD, XSD, SOX, Schematron and DSD. Fawcett et al (2012) mention Schematron, DTD, RELAX NG, and XSD. I will discuss some of these in comparison to DTD and XSD which are follow–ons from this week's Schema discussions. DTD This Schema type on uses attributes and elements and follows a hierarchy in structure type. It is very simplistic and uses few attribute definitions, and does not follow XML type syntax. However, despite its simplistic nature, it is the most widely used standard according to Lee and Chu (2000). XSD The true XML Schema Definition is very different from DTD in that it can be very granular in its descriptive elements and follows XML syntax rules. This can make it very powerful, in its support of namespaces and true data types, allowing for better conformity and use in data transformation and query. Another strength of XML Schema is it inheritance, which can simplify some reuse of attributes and combining of Schema documents. Its weakness goes hand in hand with its strength as the complexity it allows for causes confusion by all but the most advanced users according to Fawcett et al (2012). RELAX NG This method of validation arrived as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Addiction And Its Effects On The American Economy Workaholism, defined broadly as work addiction, still lacks a specific, widely accepted definition, even though it is becoming increasingly prevalent in the United States. As job insecurity has increased following the Great Recession and technology has allowed for employees to be constantly connected to the office (Shifron & Reysen, 2011; Foster, 2014), people often find themselves working more. Indeed, Americans are taking less time off than they have in the past (All Work, 2014) and 25–30% identify as workaholics (Robinson, 2001 as cited in Shifron & Reysen, 2011). There is still a debate over whether workaholism is a genuine addiction/disease, or just the set of associated behaviors, i.e. working excessively, thinking ceaselessly about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, productivity seems to plateau after a certain amount of weekly working hours. One study found that increasing working hours to over 60 per week caused productivity to increase for three to four weeks, then decline sharply (Covert, 2014), while another found that productivity declined after 49 hours per week, regardless of the weeks worked (Pencavel, 2014 as cited in C.W., 2014). By studying data from World War I munitions workers, the latter study provided a direct, concrete measure of productivity, while the former focused on more modern, white collar work, suggesting that decreases in productivity with increased work hours can be observed across a broad spectrum of career fields. In addition, Ng, Sorenson, & Feldman (2007) reported that although working longer hours led to greater job performance in the short term, it took a toll on performance in the long term because of the decline in employee health. In addition to excessively long work hours, a lack of vacation time negatively affects productivity. However, American workers often do not or cannot take a vacation. As I selected my patient, I noticed that he had many medications and had had an ST–elevation myocardial infarction. I didn't want to scare myself off from selecting this patient and caring for him on clinical day. Clinical day started slow, I was a bit anxious about waking my patient up that morning but I knew I had to go in. I woke him slowly and took his vitals and proceeded with my assessment. As I assessed my patient, his wife came in to his room and I introduced myself. During the morning I found out that my patient was being discharged. Before discharge, my patient was going to be fitted for a LifeVest. The LifeVest is a defibrillator that is placed in a vest that patient is able to wear under his cloth. The change in direction causes energy loss, resulting in longer wavelengths. The energy lost by the photon is gained by the electron, this electron is ejected from the electron shell. CT can be described as an x–ray tube and detectors, located in the gantry, parallel to each other, able to rotate 360° in a continuous motion, illustrated in Appendix 1.4. The continuous motion allows for the collection of an ongoing stream of information. The development of slip rings eliminated the use of cables, allowing the continuous rotation, increasing scan time (Kalender, 2011) The patient table moves the patient through the gantry, allowing for patient positioning without moving the body. The detectors convert and amplify the x–ray beams into electric signals. The computer knows the exact position of the tube and detectors, along with the number of pixels the beam went through and the dose measurement. Each pixel corresponds to a Hounsfield unit; this is the attenuation value of a corresponding voxel (Opplet, 2005). The attenuation value is compared to that of water. Hounsfield units represent shades of grey; this quantifies beam attenuation. These units are interpreted using computer algorithms, producing an image. Tympanic Membrane Research Paper Tympanic Membrane and Thyroid Gland Tabatha Hopkins South University Tympanic Membrane and Thyroid Gland The tympanic membrane and thyroid gland are two of the many features that will assessed on a patient. When abnormalities or disruption in the normal function of either of these persist, permanent damage can occur. To know if there is a disruption in the normal function, we must know what the normal function and purpose is. This paper will review possible finding for the tympanic membrane, how to examine the thyroid gland, and give an assessment note using the subjective, objective, assessment, and plan (SOAP) note format. Tympanic membrane What is the tympanic membrane? The tympanic is commonly known as the eardrum. It separates the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using the posterior examination approach, stand behind the patient. Sitting up straight, have the patient relax the neck to the left side to relax the neck muscles on this side (Jarvis, 2015). Push the trachea slightly to the left using the fingers of your right hand (Jarvis, 2015). By retracting the trachea and the sternomastoid muscles you should be able to palpate the thyroid gland. The ethnics of the person are more important than the task he or she takes. The leader makes decision and dominates. Malagasy culture is more based on laws and regulations. A Chinese values survey is developed by Hofstede and Bond(1980) to explore cultural values in 22 Asian and western countries from the Chinese social values. In this survey, Confucian dynamism which refer to "the acceptance of legitimacy of hierarchy and valuing of perseverance and thrift, all without undue emphasis on tradition and social obligations which could impede business initiative" (Franke, Hostede and Bond 1991, p.167 quoted in Lin & Ho 2009). This human oriented theory, can be applied to the management of business organizations and human resource management. This character is also valued in Malagasy culture. These characters are important for a healthy business environment although they may take on a different form. • 137. Hong Kong Comics: Mass Culture? Hong Kong Comics: Mass Culture? Introduction When I was first given the project topics to study, I decided to write a research paper on local comics without a second thought. As a Hong Kong people, local comics have took an irreplaceable position in my memory. Reading Old Master Q (老夫子) and Ngau Zai (牛仔) in the public libraries was one of the best memories in my childhood. Hence I want to carry out a study on local comics as a remarkable genre of the local popular culture. However, as Ng Wing Yee Ross (2002) said, the research has been done on the local comics is insufficient and usually done by comic lovers. And that implies one of the reasons why local culture being accused as shallow, loose and distracted, we don't have adequate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Strinati D.,2004) Hence mass culture is accused of being immoral, cheap and vulgar. Yet due to the limited and monotonous topics of mass culture, the cultural products can be produced under "Fordist Production" (i.e. to massively produce the standardized products with specialized streamline operation and division of labor). (Enda Brophy., 2008) Mass Culture, all in all, is those profit–driven cultural products that are mass–produced for mass consumed by the mass society through mass media. For the reason that the aim of mass culture is to gain by satisfying the social desire of entertainment instead of expressing the ideas and feelings of the creators, the output is regarded as a "commodity" but not a "composition". Mass Culture is also charged to be a "pseudo–culture", it is not culture as a matter of fact. 1.2 How local comics are considered as Mass Culture? This theory seems to be a fair description of the development of local comics in the 1970s, if we consider the comics created by Tony Wong(黃玉郎) and Shangguan Xiaobao(上官小寶) as the "mainstream". In the 1970s, the problem of corruption and triads were very serious. Hong Kong citizens suffered from the joint bully of the gangs and public servants (e.g. police, firemen). Tony Wong used that as background and created the comic "Dragon Tiger Gate" (Official Name: Oriental Heroes). Molecular Simulations on the Mechanical Response and Failure Behavior of a Defective Graphene: Cases of Stone–Thrower–Wales (5–7–7–5) defects G. Rajasekaran Rajesh Kumar and Avinash Parashar Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee – 247667, India ABSTRACT Structural defects which are inevitable during the production, chemical and heat treatment processes can affect the mechanical properties of graphene and also defects can be deliberately introduced in graphene by ion beam irradiation to get required properties for specific applications. So, understanding the effect of defects on mechanical properties and failure behaviours of a graphene sheet is important for its applications. In this work, the effects of linear and angular orientation of different types of Stone–Thrower–Wales (STW–1 and STW–2) defects on the mechanical properties and failure behaviour of graphene membrane have been investigated in the frame of molecular dynamics. This work discussing about tuneable mechanical properties by amending the linear orientation of STW–1 and STW–2 defects at different angles in zigzag direction and armchair direction respectively. The results obtained from the present work may provide the insights in tailoring the mechanical properties by preparing defects in graphene, and give a full picture for the applications of graphene with defects in flexible electronics and nanodevices. • 149. The Chronic Disease Burden Has Increased The Need For A... The chronic disease burden has increased the need for a statewide and national approach in its detection, prevention, and treatment of heart failure. In the state of Indiana heart disease is shown to be leading the way with a total of 13,394 individuals who have died in 2013 (Indiana State, 2013). The health indicators show that although the mortality rate has decreased from 42.3 per 100,000 in 2001 to 37.3 per 100,000 hospitalization rates have increased (Center for Disease, 2011). Heart failure rehospitalization rate has increased from 2007–2011 especially in those who are over the age of 85. In 2011, there were a total of 41.9 per 1,000 hospitalizations due to heart failure. This is gradually increasing from the Healthy People 2020 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cardiac muscle cells can be affected by heart disease through the inability to maintain its homeostasis through the calcium pump. If there is excess calcium within the heart it results in the in ability of the heart muscle to relax. As a result, the ADP/ATP ratio increases, phosphocreatine decreases, and energy stores are depleted. Furthermore, this imbalance affects the energy needed to relax the left ventricle. Secondly, diastolic heart failure can occur from changes in preload, afterload, renin–angiotension–aldosterone system, and the sympathetic nervous system. These changes affect the fibrillar collagen within the extracellular matrix that affects the ability of the ventricular to relax. These changes along with those compensatory mechanisms results in continuous resistance that results in increased in left ventricular end–diastolic pressure (McCance & Huether, 2010). Systolic heart failure results from the inability of the cardiac muscle to contract effectively from inadequate cardiac output. As the cardiac output drops, compensatory mechanisms to try to restore its function through takes place by ventricular remodeling. During this remodeling phase, the heart begins to develop changes in its size and becomes hypertrophic that results in a decreased ability of the heart to contract, decreased available oxygen, and available ATP. Secondly, this hypertrophic states increases preload that results ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 153. Should Parents Be Legal? Pregnancy can be one of the most life–changing and exciting experience a mother could ever have. When a woman is pregnant, one of the most common questions that people will ask is, "Is the baby a boy or a girl?" Parents have the opportunity to find out the sex of the baby beforehand by going through a procedure known as an ultrasound. An ultrasound relies on sound waves to create an image of the baby in the uterus. This safe and painless procedure normally takes place between 18– 20 weeks of pregnancy. Thanks to the advancement in our technology, parents have the ability to determine the gender of their offspring. Gender selection is available all around the world but is illegal in certain countries such as China, India, Australia, Canada, and the UK. As a result of the ban on gender selection in these countries, people who wish to go through with this procedure must make a trip to the U.S where it is legal. This raises the question of whether parents should be allowed to choose the sex of their baby as well as the pros and cons associated with this procedure. Everyone has different opinions on whether or not parents have the right to select the gender of the offspring. Some may agree with it and some are against it because they feel like it is unethical and it goes against nature. However, at the end of the day, it is up to the parents to make the decision, for it is freedom of choice. There is no reason as to why parents should not have the right to have determined the ... K. speaks words with velar sounds (/ng/ /g/ /k/) in a 1–to–1 conversation with an acquaintance in an intelligible way. Methods: First we will check which velar sounds mrs. K. can produce better than the others. After that, we will do articulation exercises. We will train syllables in a CV order and words in CVC–order, but soon we will train syllables and words with clusters to make it more difficult. Mrs. K. has a moderate flaccid dysarthria, so we think that she can manage it to train in the beginning with complex words. That way, she will also have a higher chance of transfer to CVC– words (Maas et al., 2008, p. 2). The words we will use in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Methods: We will use mime therapy. According to Beurskens & Heymans (2006, p. 1) mime therapy improves facial symmetry and reduces the severity of paresis in people with facial nerve paresis. The aim of mime therapy is to promote symmetry of the face at rest and during movement (Beurskens et al., 2004, p. 208). In therapy, a mirror is used as feedback instrument, as it is necessary to see how exercises are performed. We choose to do the mime therapy in our therapy planning because mrs. K. revealed that she wants to smile arbitrary in a symmetric way again. We conclude from the case example that this is a very important goal for her. We expect mrs. K. to do homework every day. She has to massage her face and neck (daily 10–15 minutes) to relax the facial musculature and improve circulation and she has to do relaxation exercises. Evaluation: According Beurskens et al. (2004, p. XX), the House–Brackmann scale is used to evaluate positive changes in the facial symmetry. We expect an improvement for 1 grade (Beurskens et al., 2004, pag 210). Prosody: Later on, we want to work on the prosody, because she has a low and monotone voice. That could be a problem when she wants to read to her grandchildren. We expect it also to be a problem for her intelligibility when she is conversing with other people. We think that the articulation problems have priority at this moment, so we start with that.
