How Did Richard Daley Become Mayor
Introduction Richard Joseph Daley was mayor for about six terms and he deserved to be the mayor.
He would go through struggles, achievements, the stress of having so many elections, and
complaints from other candidates or the people of Chicago. How did Richard J. Daley's political
experiences shape him to become mayor? Richard Daley was most known for politics and working
with budgets. He expressed those hobbies while mayor. Daley was a very extraordinary man and
mayor, without him Chicago probably wouldn't be the same and neither would politics.
This is the definition of mayor:
Noun:
1. the chief executive official, usually elected, of a city, village, or town
2. the chief magistrate of a city or borough
Family and Friends Richard J. Daley was born on May 15, 1902. He was an only child and his
parents were Catholic. Daley's parents made him become an altar boy which is like a priest's
assistant. Richard J. Daley was a very religious man when he was young and older his family tried
to go to church every Sunday. When he got his own family and got married, they became Roman
Catholic. He grew up in Bridgeport, Chicago and lived his whole ... Show more content on

became the Mayor of Chicago later on; William M. Daley was the former White House Chief of

associate professor in Human Geography; Eleanor Daley was a Canadian Composer and was a
teacher too; and Mary Carol Vanecko is also a teacher. Sadly, Eleanor Daley died in 1998 and she
was 59 years old and the rest of the Daley kids are now 72, 68, 66, 65, 63, and 61. They are all very
old but really close to age. I can't believe all three Daley girls were and are still teachers. Richard J.
Daley would always stand up for his family and Daley loved his family more than anything

The Vaccine Against Cowpox Also Gave Protection Against...
In 1796, Edward Jenner showed the world that the vaccine against cowpox also gave protection
against the smallpox disease. Ever since Jenner 's discovery, the main principles of vaccines has
gained more acceptance through the years of practice. In 1816, 20 years after Edward Jenner 's
discovery, Sweden would create a compulsory vaccine for smallpox, which will eradicate the
disease in many countries (Ortqvist et al). By noticing the long–lasting effects of vaccinations in
people, one can understand the importance of a well–informed society. Acta Paediatrica, a peer–
review medical journal organization, noted, "The body hosts many microorganisms, including
bacteria and viruses that live with or off it" (Ortqvist et al). Vaccines, however, ... Show more

However, 100 children out of the one million were diagnosed with a rare side–effect in which a
section of the small intestine would fold into another section called intussusceptions. Tetanus is a
very serious bacterial infection that has become extremely rare in the United States. If one develops
the infection, he or she is still recommended to take the vaccination. The reason for it is due to the
toxin made by the disease that would affect the immune system in the long run. Hib, HPV, and
pneumococcal vaccines all help to improve the immune response better than natural infection
(Holland). Certain vaccines are highly recommended but sometimes they are not fully covered,
leaving children suffering from possible diseases that are preventable such as: smallpox,
chickenpox, measles, hepatitis B, and many more. Moreover, being covered is not the only problem.
The shortage of childhood vaccines, especially in the United States, are due to the lack of
manufacturing capacity, lack of accurate data, and lack of communication. Between December 2007
and September 2009, the United States had a lack of Hib vaccines, leaving a high number of
children at the risk of infection (Esposito et al). In 1989, a measles epidemic infected more than
18,000 people and killed 41 children in the U.S.. The outbreak occurred due to extremely low
immunization rates. Jon Cohen, a physician executive business, believes "It was just a disaster

Essay on Lowes’ Porter's Five Forces Competitive Analysis
Lowes' Porter's Five Forces Competitive Analysis Michael Porter's Five Forces analyze the external
and internal environment of a company to increase the awareness of threats and structure of the
industry that company competes within. Thus, the Five Forces is an ideal tool which can help
companies to maintain their competitiveness with a higher profitability. Porter's Five Forces is
defined as threats of new entrants, bargaining power of suppliers, power of buyers, the threat of
substitutes and rivalry among existing competitors. New entrants into the industry aim to gain
market share from rivals, so the intensity of competition may require to make changes on current
strategy of marketing to maintain existing market share. The bargaining ... Show more content on

High level, intense rivalry may result with profit lost for the company. In most cases, new entrant
barriers are high due to the intensity of rivalry (Porter, 2008). Lowes' Porter's Five Forces
Competitive Analysis As relevant to these competitive forces, the common and mutual goal of
companies can be explained as better profitability with a greater market share against their rivals.
Therefore, implementing Michael Porter's Five Forces can help the companies determine the issues
that may impact the company's profitability in the long term. Lowes Company Inc. has grown out of
a small hardware store which was located in North Carolina in 1946. The founder and owner Carl
Buchan had a vision of chain home–improvement stores at that time. One of the best strategies that
Buchan did was working directly with manufacturers instead of wholesalers. This let Lowes come
over the power of wholesalers. The company made a big reputation with low prices strategy. In
addition, Lowes owns and operates stores in Mexico and Canada as well as United States (About
Lowe's, 2014). The company's goal is offering the best quality product with a low price and
exceptional customer service. According to Lowes and financial data, they are second biggest global

Essay on Hydrophobic property of Carbon Nanotubes
Carbon fiber also has corrosion issues due to its chemical composition There are many different
types of corrosions. According to Boeing Engineer David Banis, "Concentration cell corrosion, or
crevice corrosion, is the most common type of corrosion found on airplanes" (Banis 2). It occurred
whenever water is trapped between two surfaces, such as under loose paint, within a delaminated
bond–line, or in an unsealed joint. The magnitude of the corrosion depends on the alloy that is used.
Carbon fiber with metal mesh is susceptible to severe corrosion if not properly treated with the right
sealant. Carbon fiber is also very hard to recycle. The reason behind this is because it "loses most of
its strength during the recycling process," ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the article "A Preliminary Study on the Effect of Macro Cavities Formation on Properties of
Carbon Nanotube Bucky–Paper Composites" by Ludovic Dumée, a researcher at Dreakin
University's institute for Frontier Materials, "over the last decade carbon nanotubes have attracted a
lot of interest and efforts were made to incorporate them efficiently into composite material
structures (Dumée 558). Dumée substantiates this statement by providing a number of data from
research that has been conducted in the last few decades. He provides charts and diagrams from
some of his own tests that show that carbon nanotubes can be easily processed as bucky–papers,
which are entangled meshes of nanotubes (Dumée 628). Researchers and engineers are currently
studying bucky papers and investigating their properties. Current research shows that bucky papers
exhibit auspicious properties and they are strong and flexible structures to engineer and examine
(Bahr 6537). There are predominantly two types of carbon nanotube structures that are currently
being studied and synthesized, multi–walled carbon nanotubes and single–walled carbon nanotubes.

Secondly, Pier 1 has established product differentiation. Pier 1 provides unique products to their
customers which "builds customer loyalty and is less likely to lose market share to a competitor than
an advantage based on cost" (Faulkenberry, n.d.).
Risk/Opportunity
Challenges that face Pier 1 Imports include the rising cost of raw materials and low investments in
research and development. There are also external business risks and changes within tax laws that
prove to be a challenge for Pier 1.
Opportunities that are available to Pier 1 Imports include new markets as well as new products and
services. Also, in this era of DIY home improvement projects there is a growing demand for
merchandise provided by Pier 1 Imports such as the pillar candle holder.
Conclusions
Pier 1 Imports should continue providing this pillar candle holder to its consumers as well as other
candle holders that would appeal to their customers. This market will continue to grow with the
growing economy and growing demand. While the target market is women age 25–34, this group
will no doubt increase as more homeowners look to DIY projects for home improvement.
The competition for Pier 1 Imports in candle holder sales will increase as more retailers are selling
candles and candle holders. Candle holders are not limited to being sold at specialty stores such as
Pier 1 Imports and Yankee; candles and candle holders are found at big box

What Causes Social Intolerance?
What Causes Social Intolerance?
'Across multiple disciplines in the social sciences, the study of social inequality represents a
prominent area of research.'
Social tolerance has commonly factored as a point of political study. This can be seen as a result of
an increasingly pluralistic society, which encompasses vast elements of race, religion, ethnicity,
sexuality and general diversity. Due to this greater emphasis has been cast upon the concept
toleration. To a degree this can be perceived as a result of globalization, which has seen a vast influx
of people from low income to high–income countries. Social intolerance can also be viewed within a
historical context, for example a prominent area of study is the Nazi Germany ... Show more content

This can result in social prejudice and discrimination where 'subordinate groups have predominantly
negative stereotypic attributions when evaluated by dominant group members.'
Social dominance theory begins with the observation that all human societies are inherently group–
based hierarchies and are inherently oppressive. This therefore means that social intolerance is
derived from the hierarchal structure of society, which is composed of domineering group–based
structure. Grouping reflects the differing elements within society, such as nation states, races, class,
ethnicity, religion, etc. It is believed that only certain individuals are able to be obtain positions of
power, and certain characteristics are deemed necessary, such as intelligence. Within this theory it is
believed that men are more suited to domineering positions of group power than women. In order
for this there are 'Hierarchy –enhancing environments are social contexts that encourage or reinforce
the acceptance and support for social inequality.' Legitimising myths are a way in which hierarchal
order can be maintained; they are seen as 'attitudes, values, beliefs, or ideologies that provide moral
and intellectual support to and justification for the group'. To phrase it differently, legitimising myths
are seen as a way in which discrimination and intolerance can be justified in order to promote

Penney 's Five Forces Theory Essay
This paper will cover different sections of the J.C. Penney Corporation. This paper will also discuss
Michael Porter's five forces theory, and what the theory represents. In the discussion of the five
forces theory, it will be broken down and explain in the following section how it impacts J.C.
Penney. Each force will be explained first, and then how it is relative to the company after. This
paper will cover J.C. Penney's financial reports, as well as what separates J.C. Penney from its
competitors. Introduction to Porter Five Forces Michael Eugene Porter is an economist, author,
advisor and a researcher. He is the creator of Porter Five Forces theory, which is a framework for a
business. The model "identifies and analyzes five competitive forces that shape every industry, and
helps determine an industry 's weaknesses and strengths" (Investopedia LLC, 2016). The five forces
are competitive rivalry, bargaining power of buyers, bargaining power of suppliers, threat of new
entry, and threat of substitution. This is a very important theory which a business can strengthen
their position. Introduction to J.C. Penney J.C. Penney (JCP) was founded on April 14, 1902 in
Kemmerer, Wyoming. James Cash Penney worked for Golden Rule, and three years later he was
promoted to third partner, which he open his first store. In 1907, James bought out his two partners,

Fortune 500 Research Paper Project
This research paper project will be about Amazon.com, Inc. Amazon.com is a shopping site online
and it can be access anywhere as long as you have internet. It is a well–known internet–based
retailer and it's available worldwide. Amazon Inc is known for its fastness and convenience, which
is a better way to shop for things nowadays, because not everyone wants to go through a hassle of
looking for things in store, and having to carry shopping bags from place to place. Amazon.com
sells everything, from electronic devices, DVDs, digital movies/music, to household furniture,
books, school supplies and beauty products. In my opinion, Amazon.com attracts buyers because
they sell products with good deals and sometimes come with free shipping which is always a plus.
Specially, Amazon.com sells some products that you rarely or never see in retailer stores. The
primarily products that they are known for are their signature Kindle, which is similar to a tablet but
its common use is for reading e–books. Amazon.com gets their products from retailers like
Nordstrom, Target, Michaels, ... and individual sellers that want to sell their stuff, either used or
brand new. Some big companies take advantage and sell their goods through Amazon.com so they
can sell more products.
Based on the statistics of Fortune 500, Amazon.com ranked number 29, right before Wells Fargo and
after Citigroup, 2 common banks in the United States.

High-Protein Diets For Weight Loss Essay
High Protein Diets for Weight Loss
The Role of Dieting in Society Today
The preoccupation of modern society with appearance is reflected in part by the preponderance of
Americans who engage in dieting behaviors. Despite the nutritional and fitness literature which
pervades society today, 33% of the American population continues to be overweight (Bates, 1997).
The USDA recommendation for a low–fat, high–complex–carbohydrate diet over the years has
seemingly not been effective, since the proportion of overweight Americans has increased. Many
frustrated Americans have in turn looked beyond the high–carb, low fat diet to other less
conventional measures (http.//web.usatoday.com/life/health/lhs641.htm). Dietary fads have sprouted

Popular Examples of High–Protein Diets
The Zone diet, as described in The Zone by Barry Sears, Ph.D. is an example of a "protein–adequate
diet" (http://web.usatoday.com/life/health/lhs641.htm). Small meals of fruits, vegetables,
monounsaturated fats, and low–fat proteins are advised to be eaten throughout the day. Sources of
total calorie composition outlined by this dietary plan is as follows: 40% carbohydrate, 30% fat,
30% protein. The amount of fat is dictated by the amount of protein consumed at each meal. The
role of fat in this diet plan is described by Dr. Sears as follows: slows the rate of carbohydrate entry
into bloodstream which reduces insulin response, releases hormone (CCK) from stomach to tell
brain to stop eating, and supplies the building blocks (essential fatty acids) for eicosanoids
(http://www.users.cts.com/crash/d/dbrowndc/zonefaq.htm#Unfavorable). Therefore according to this
perspective, in order for the body to burn fat and weight loss to occur, insulin must be maintained
within a prescribed zone (Kirby, 1997).
This high–protein diet is depicted as a life–long hormonal control program which allows a person to
maximize full genetic potential. The zone diet allows a person to eat as if they were already at their
ideal percentage of body fat because stored calories are being hormonally released. The advertised
effects of this dietary plan on the body include: burns fat, fights heart disease, diabetes, PMS,

A culture is a pattern of assumptions and beliefs deeply held in common by members of an

Culture comprised of assumptions, values, norms and tangible signs such as artifacts of organization
members, slogans, logos and observable behaviors. It is difficult to express culture distinctly but you
can tell the culture of an organization by looking at the member 's clothes, the arrangement of the

They can do this by breaking free from their old approach and change to a new approach. For
instance, Schwinn has changed its motto– "Established 1895.Re–established 1994". This represent

Similarly, Continental Airlines "re–invented" itself few years ago. The employees were taken
outside the Headquarters building in Houston to watch the firm 's old policies and procedures set
afire. The firm 's new strategy is known as "Go Forward" plan. This plan is to avoid people from
remembering the firm 's troubled past and to focus on the future.
An understanding of the organizational culture is very important for many reasons. First, culture is a
powerful force in the organization. It shaped the overall effectiveness and the long term success of
the organization. Company 's that develop a strong culture are likely to succeed. For that reason,
managers need to have a clear understanding and appreciation of the importance of the organization
's culture. Managers must understand the culture and then decide if the culture should be maintained
and changed. Only by understanding the organization 's current culture can managers take
appropriate actions.
Next, culture is seen as the context for control. Culture was described as facilitating control when

Therefore, the emergence of divisive new ideas indicated a progressive movement towards greater
maternal rights was underway. Analyzing the case of Abigail and Asa Bailey aids in understanding
this drastic change in public opinion. In 1792, Abigail Bailey was quickly granted a divorce from
Asa Bailey. However, Abigail waited twenty–two years to file this petition for divorce, as Asa first
had an affair just three years after their marriage in 1770. It is interesting to compare Abigail's case
to Ellen's because in both cases, each woman repeatedly cites her hesitation to take legal action
because of what she believes to be her duty to her husband. However, what is considered cruel
enough to justify breaking that duty and separating from their husbands drastically differs. Abigail
waited through multiple affairs and the sexual assault of her own daughter before beginning the
legal process. Meanwhile, Ellen sought legal action after what she cited to be mental cruelty.
In just half a century, a major shift in public opinion occurred. The question then arises: what caused
this shift to occur? Grossberg noted the rise of the independent penny press and the effect it had on
public opinion. Before the advent of the penny press, there was the sixpenny press. This was largely

Marketing Strategy: MBA Level

level Question 1 Explain what strategy is and what a strategy statement should include After reading
this article, I can say that a strategy is a summary of words that empowers and energizes employees
to enhance their long–term performance within the organization. This is the measure undertaken in
order to achieve a certain objective and is usually included in a plan for the company. David J.
Collis and Michael G. have suggested that a strategy statement describes the action of the general
plan and outlines specific activities that should be taken by the company. It does not reflect the
impact of the plan for public relations; they are objectives (Collis & Rukstad, 2008). The specific
activities that are put in place to ensure that some objectives achieved for a positive impact are also
not objectives but just tactics. Strategies combine the aspects of both tactics and objectives. The
strategy statement specifies key functions; the tactics can be said to be a clearer version of the
strategy, several key taken, but abstract, strategic elements and transforming them into concrete
things (Collis & Rukstad, 2008). Components of a strategy statement Concisely the following
aspects should be included in the strategy statement: timing, medium type, channel of
communication, logic, and publics. David J. Collis and Michael G. Rukstad discussed that a good

Snuff Films Essay
Also known as "white heat" films and "the real thing," the snuff film myth
lives on like Bigfoot, despite the fact that no law enforcement agency in America has publicly
admitted to ever locating one. Alan Sears, former executive director of the Attorney General's
commission on pornography during 1985–86, agrees with the more than two dozen law enforcement
agencies I interviewed. "Our experience was that we could not find any such thing as a
commercially produced snuff film," says Sears. "Our commission was all–inclusive and
exhaustive. If snuff films were available, we'd have found them."
This sentiment is echoed by Ken Lanning, a cult expert at the FBI training academy at Quantico,
Virginia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1990 The Times printed a story recounting a 1975 American investigation in which police had
discovered evidence of Mexican immigrants being killed in snuff films, "in lurid detail to
satisfy the insatiable demands of the pornography industry." It goes on to tell the story of a
Californian who in 1985 murdered 25 women on film; video tapes of the actual killing were said to
be doing a thriving business at video rental stores.
In the same Times piece, Dr. Ray Wyre, clinical director of the Gracewell Clinic for convicted
paedophiles in Birmingham, England, is quoted as having viewed snuff films firsthand in America.
When contacted, however, Wyre indicated that the films he saw were "sophisticated
simulations" but insisted that the FBI had a number of snuff films in their possession. He said
snuff films were definitely available in England, but that he had never seen one.
Detective Mick Hames, head of the Obscene Publications Division at Scotland Yard, responded to
Wyre's assertions. "I'd be the first to know if there were any in Britain," says Hames.
"But there just aren't. Though I understand snuff films exist in America."
For all its lack of verifiable evidence, one wonders why the mythology of snuff survives. Ask any
L.A. hipster, and although they themselves haven't seen a snuff film, they know someone who has.
It's become an accepted truth, like

The Zone Diet Essay
It seems like everywhere you look there is some new diet plan making miraculous promises of
weight loss through pills, plans, and formulas. The zone diet is no exception. The zone diet was
developed by Dr. Barry Sears in his book," Enter the Zone" which was on the bestseller lists for
weeks. The zone promises high energy, weight loss, and no hunger to those willing to follow the
simple set of zone rules. It sounds great you say, but does it really work?
What is the Zone?
The "zone" was first referred to by athletes as a period of maximum performance and energy levels.
When things are clicking and every part of our body is working at its best, we say we are "in the
zone." When we fall short we experience a loss of performance, ... Show more content on

Barry Sears claims that by following the zone guidelines, our bodies are able to produce the optimal
level of good eicosanoids and reduce the production of bad ones.
The Zone Guidelines: The Basics
Here are some of the zone guidelines:
Eat enough protein for your body's needs, no more, no less. This amount is determined by your
amount of lean body mass ( http://www.Eicotech.com/calculator/default.html ) and your activity
level.
At every meal eat protein and carbohydrates in the ratio of three parts protein to four parts
carbohydrate.
As much as possible, eat carbohydrates with a low glycemic index (This list includes most fiuits and
vegetables).
Eat sufficient amounts of fat to control the rate of digestion of the meal and to control hunger.
Usually, this is about 30% of the calories in the meal.
Drink at least eight glasses of water or sugar–free decaffeinated beverages a day.
As much as possible, eat protein with low levels of saturated fat such as fish, chicken, turkey, tofu,
egg whites, and low–fat dairy products.
As much as possible, eat monounsaturated fats in preference to saturated fats.
Never go more than five hours without eating a zone–favorable meal or snack. Eat within one hour
of waking and have a snack before workouts and before bedtime.
No food is ever completely banned, but some must be

Seeing exponential growth in coming years, Many major retailers have already made efforts to set
up online shops. Retail juggernauts like Walmart and Target have thrown their hats into the online
arena with websites of their own. Many more entrepreneurs have begun creating entire businesses

Also online stores and warehouses require less manpower making them cheaper. But a major impact
of this growth is the decline in recent years of big box retailers and subsequently the fall of "The

Influence of Trisha Brown and Steve Paxton on Modern Dance
The direct relationship in the artistic practices and methodologies of Trisha Brown and Steve Paxton
played a role in facilitating new ways of appreciating and developing movement.
Trisha Brown is considered to be one of the most pivotal choreographers of the 1960's as her work
and practice shifted away from historically considered "appropriate" movement for choreography.
This ideology references the modern era of choreographers, moving away from the aesthetics of
Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham who worked with codified techniques, virtuosity and
expressionism, whereas Brown saw dance as being of greater importance to the physical and mental
process of the performer. Born in Aberdeen, Washington and studying dance at Mills College in ...

While working with these companies in New York, Paxton discovered his interest in pushing and
playing with the body's physical potential. Paxton was inspired by the way Brown could manipulate
the physical form, observing the complexity in her form as she played with spills and falls. He found
this intriguing as it contrasted his background with Limon and Cunningham working with codified
vocabularies; something he considered to be a "paralysis" of the body via technique. Working with
Brown at Judson, Paxton was introduced to the methods of improvisation, using this insight to
create explorations playing with the dynamics and stability of gravity.
The Judson Dance Theatre had a significant influence not only on the direction of Trisha Brown and
Steve Paxton's artistic practice, but also the shift towards postmodernism. From the initial public
display by aspiring choreographers from Robert Dunn's composition class, Judson went on to
become the first avant–garde movement in New York since modern dance in the 1940's. There was
an interdisciplinary flavour produced via collaboration with dance, visual art and music, and
significant lack of grants and funding ensured that the Judson environment was that of willing
participation and exploration. Consequentially, this spurred ideas of innovation and new ways of
developing movement in terms of using inexpensive materials and space, allowing for exploration of
performance in non–conventional

Soon–to–be tech industries leaders, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates were also members of the club,
eventually leaving to start their respective companies. This eventually became the home of the
Apple I computer, pioneered by Steve Wozniak and supported by Steve Jobs. Beginning as a project
in Wozniak's spare time, it eventually developed into the first product of Apple Personal Computers
Inc., launching in 1976. It a utilized a 6502 processor: a clone of the 6800 by MOS Technologies,
soon to be the basis of the Nintendo Entertainment System CPU in future decades. It also featured a
working keyboard and text video output, but required extensive assembly.
In 1974, Federico Faggin – a member of the team that had worked on the original Intel 4004 MPU –
left Intel to found Zilog. With funding from Exxon Corporation (a subsidiary of Exxon Enterprises),
Zilog was able to produce its first microprocessor, the Z80. It implemented and expanded version of
the existing Intel 8080 instruction set, allowing programs already written for the popular Intel CPU
to be easily ported to the platform. However, the Z80 also provided increased performance and
flexibility and a fraction of the cost, leading to its eventual dominance in the desktop computer
market.
Also in 1974, the first popular operating system was released: Control Program for Microcomputers

Value-Based Marketing: Creation, Delivery, and Evaluation
Introduction
Marketing principles made a fast swift from the conventional methods to the modern marketing.
From the literature, we can marked the shift from product centric view to customer centric view .i.e.
from" inside–out to outside–in". This made an outstanding shift from Mc Carty's 4p concept to value
based marketing. Emphasising this shift the Piercy(2009)imprint that marketing is a set of
management activities that define ,create and deliver value to the customers.
The essay is divided into 3 section ,firstly about the creation and delivery of value ,in the second
section deals with the case study of the Ritz Carlton and Abad group of hotels service orientation

Based on the demographical, psychological and behavioural difference of the customers in the
segments they select a target market for their offering and it is positioned .For example Volvo
developed its cars for the customers ,whom safety is main concern. Offering is the intangible value
proposition made physical.( kotter and keller,2006;kolter,1997;Wilson etal.,1992)
Value proposition is another main thing in creating customer value. It is the bundle of benefits the
company offer's in addition to the core positioning .Taking the example of the Volvo car its core
positioning is safety, but in addition it promises a long lasting car, long warranty and service. So this
can create a value in the mind of target customer who are concern in safety.( kotter& keller,2006)
Customer satisfaction is the main concern of creating value and competitive
advantage(zeithaml,1988;parasuraman,1997). Satisfaction is the feeling of pleasure or displeasure
resulting from the comparison of products/services performance in relation to the expectations.
Expectation comes from the past buying experience, friends or associates advice etc .The relation
between expectation and performance decides the satisfaction ;whether it is high, medium or low.
According to the literatures the two main wrong things usually the enterprises do in creating and
delivering values are the supply chain

Additionally, Sears' inventory turnover is equal to 148 days, which is more than 2x the industry
average of 65 days. Finally, Sears Holdings' quick ratio is .20, which indicates potential for a
liquidity crunch because its liquid assets cannot pay off its current liabilities in a crisis.
Opportunities One of the opportunities for SHDL to explore is to expand in to other nations,
particularly emerging markets. Another opportunity is to expand is to accelerate the growth of
SHLD's ecommerce programs, which only represents 3% of its revenues, especially as the industry
is slowly shifting from brick and mortar to brick and click format. Lastly, SHLD has an opportunity
to lease floor space out to companies who can increase traffic into the store. Threats One threat to
SHLD is its competition with many retailers because it is not very differentiated from its
competitors and lacks brand loyalty, thus nothing is stopping the customer from overlooking Sears
and visiting a rival retailer. Another threat is a downturn in the economy which could wreck havoc
on SHLD's financial position. Porter's Five Forces Analysis Threat of new entrants is relatively low.
There are high barriers to entry in the discount retail market, including high capital costs, limited
access to investors, and a largely crowded–out market place. Threat of substitutions

Below is a broken down overview of areas that need to be addressed:
Research: Target needs to perform a detailed research on its e/m–commerce platforms and those of
the competition. Since Target is the follower, without spending too much in R&D it can take
advantage of what Amazon has proven to be working and internalize those practices that increase
number of visitors and transactions. Using focus group studies and split testing1 Target can pinpoint
aspects of the platforms that work well, and areas that need improvement. Therefore, interface and
content are the two areas of focus of the research.
1Split Testing: Experiments with two variables, one controlled and one varied; also known as A/B
testing.
Interface: The lay–out of Target.com and the mobile extension of the website as well as Target's
mobile app and its coupon app Cartwheel (currently under beta testing) need to be intuitively
designed to allow for easy navigation, selecting and comparing products and making payments.
Above all, as an extension of Target's in–store differentiation strategy, the company needs to
implement strong customer service features on all its digital platforms as well. This will include
friendly, well–English speaking customer service reps available 24/7 customers can talk to about
questions or technical problems with little or no waiting time.

Project managers are likely to have differing objectives throughout the project but one underlying
objective throughout it is to bring the project in the specific budget that has been set by the client
and this is one of the main objectives that a project manager is judged on, and therefore being able
to keep a tight financial reign on every project is essential. During the design phase of the
construction project, the project costs are continuously approximated and reviewed following each
design change to ensure that they will not exceed the owner's budget. A new project cannot be
intelligently priced until some major management determinations have been made concerning the
conduct of the work. Project cost estimating is typically executed by the quantity surveyor, but with
projects such as the service Kelmat Services provide, where they provide specialist project managers
for unique constructions such as St Germans Flood Alleviation Pump Station (Atkins), the project
manager was employed to oversee the construction, but to assist the quantity surveyor in project cost
estimating. Cost planning for a project obviously requires an extensive knowledge of the
construction in hand, and this is where not having a member of the design team as a project manager
becomes a disadvantage, because a member of the design team would be able to make swift, concise
decisions whilst a specialist project manager would be

Society is currently arguing over how to address the issue of violence against homosexuals. Many
educators and activists suggest that the educational systems nationwide address the issues of sexual

"Lesbian and gay studies means many things to people, at different times, in different countries. In
fact, it often seems easier to define what it is not rather than what it is," (Weeks, 2000, pp. 2).
Overall the issues that should be included in curricula, in some form at all grade levels, is the lives
of GLBITTQ people, including their identities, their experiences of oppression, and their struggles
for recognition. In addition, curriculum should include ways to live with these differences.
Furthermore, the rights for GLBITTQ community should be discussed, especially the right for all
people to be treated equally and fairly. Curriculum should lead students to question the heterosexual
norm that is presented in this culture and how that makes other people feel who are different.
All teachers should be educated about queer issues before incorporating them into their classes. As
any other subject in schools, students should be taught the most basic foundations of queer theory
and then provided with more information as the years progress. In elementary education, the
fundamental queer issue that should be taught is that our society is filled with diverse cultures and

This New Computer Industry is largely based on a common silicon platform, upon which various
companies build a very standard computer platform, upon which you put systems software that is
largely common throughout the industry, upon which you sell packaged applications, applications
that you buy, like records or CDs, at a store. Whoever has a storefront, telephone or warehouse can
get into the distribution business.2 This horizontal structure enabled IBM–PC "clones" like Compaq,
a host of start–ups and established computer firms like Hewlett Packard to enter the market and

among PC makers shifted the bulk of the profits to two highly–concentrated industry "slices": the
operating system, where Microsoft had a virtual monopoly, and the microprocessor, which was
dominated by Intel. One of the manufacturers of IBM–PC "clones" was Dell. Dell: Birth and
Childhood (1983–1990) In 1983, Michael Dell was a college freshman, who upgraded IBM–
compatible PCs in his spare time in his dorm room at the University of Texas at Austin. Dell quickly
realized that instead of upgrading older machines, he could buy components and assemble the entire

Analysis Of Michael Jackson 's ' The King Of Pop '
Wyatt Tipple Mrs Gaeman 5th period April 08, 2016 Michael Jackson Michael Joseph Jackson was
an American singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer, and actor. Called the King of Pop, his
contributions to music, dance and fashion, along with his publicized personal life, made him a
global figure in popular culture for over four decades. The eighth child of the Jackson family, he
debuted on the professional music scene along with his older brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and
Marlon as a member of the Jackson 5 in 1964, and began his solo career in 1971. In the early 1980s,
Jackson became a dominant figure in popular music. The music videos for his songs, including
those of "Beat It", "Billie Jean", and "Thriller" from his 1982 album Thriller, were credited with
breaking down racial barriers and with transforming the medium into an art form and promotional.
The popularity of these videos helped to bring the then relatively new television channel MTV to
fame. His 1987 album Bad spawned the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 number–one singles "I Just Can 't
Stop Loving You", "Bad", "The Way You Make Me Feel", "Man in the Mirror", and "Dirty Diana",
becoming the first album to have five number–one singles on the Billboard Hot 100. With videos
such as "Black or White" and "Scream", he continued to innovate the medium throughout the 1990s,
as well as forging a reputation as a touring solo artist. Through stage and video performances,
Jackson popularized a number of complicated dance

Developments in database processing w6,13,15,28x, data warehousing w16,18x, machine learning
w4,12,25x and knowledge management w2,14,24x have contributed greatly to our understanding of
the data mining process. More recent research on data mining and knowledge discovery w20,26,27x
has further enhanced our understanding of the application of data mining and the knowledge
discovery process. But, most research has focused on the theoretical and computational process of
pattern discovery and a narrow set of applications such as fraud detection or risk prediction. Given
the important role played by marketing decisions in the current customer–centric environment, there
is a need for a simple and integrated framework for a systematic management of customer
knowledge. But, there is a surprising lack of a simple and overall framework to link the extraction of
customer knowledge with the management and application of the knowledge, particularly in the
context of marketing decisions. While data mining studies have focused on the techniques, customer
relationship studies have focused on the interface to the customer and the strategies to manage
customer interactions. True customer relationship management is possible only by integrating the
knowledge discovery process with the management and use of the knowledge for marketing
strategies. This will help marketers address customer needs based on what the marketers know about

By consuming omega–3s daily, one increases the resilience of the brain to kinetic and psychological
stresses. A study on rats proved that by taking DHA, one's behavioral memory after a traumatic
brain injury will improve in multiple categories compared to those who did not take DHA. The
study was proven by having the rats perform wa– ter maze testing, which analyzes memory.
Specifically, the phospholipids of the fatty acids serve as a protection mechanism at the cellular and
neuron level, specifically the modulation of the in– flammation cascade in order to improve the
memory after TMI. The authors recommend taking up to 4g/d of omega–3s daily in order to reduce

In 1816, 20 years after Edward Jenner 's discovery, Sweden would create a compulsory vaccine for smallpox, which will eradicate the disease in many countries (Ortqvist et al). Tetanus is a very serious bacterial infection that has become extremely rare in the United States. If one develops the infection, he or she is still recommended to take the vaccination. The reason for it is due to the toxin made by the disease that would affect the immune system in the long run. Hib, HPV, and pneumococcal vaccines all help to improve the immune response better than natural infection (Holland). Certain vaccines are highly recommended but sometimes they are not fully covered, leaving children suffering from possible diseases that are preventable such as: smallpox, chickenpox, measles, hepatitis B, and many more. Moreover, being covered is not the only problem. The shortage of childhood vaccines, especially in the United States, are due to the lack of manufacturing capacity, lack of accurate data, and lack of communication. Between December 2007 and September 2009, the United States had a lack of Hib vaccines, leaving a high number of children at the risk of infection (Esposito et al). According to Boeing Engineer David Banis, "Concentration cell corrosion, or crevice corrosion, is the most common type of corrosion found on airplanes" (Banis 2). It occurred whenever water is trapped between two surfaces, such as under loose paint, within a delaminated bond–line, or in an unsealed joint. The magnitude of the corrosion depends on the alloy that is used. Carbon fiber with metal mesh is susceptible to severe corrosion if not properly treated with the right sealant. Despite the nutritional and fitness literature which pervades society today, 33% of the American population continues to be overweight (Bates, 1997). The USDA recommendation for a low–fat, high–complex–carbohydrate diet over the years has seemingly not been effective, since the proportion of overweight Americans has increased. Popular Examples of High–Protein Diets The Zone diet, as described in The Zone by Barry Sears, Ph.D. is an example of a "protein–adequate diet" (http://web.usatoday.com/life/health/lhs641.htm). Small meals of fruits, vegetables, monounsaturated fats, and low–fat proteins are advised to be eaten throughout the day. Sources of total calorie composition outlined by this dietary plan is as follows: 40% carbohydrate, 30% fat, 30% protein. The amount of fat is dictated by the amount of protein consumed at each meal. The role of fat in this diet plan is described by Dr. Sears as follows: slows the rate of carbohydrate entry into bloodstream which reduces insulin response, releases hormone (CCK) from stomach to tell brain to stop eating, and supplies the building blocks (essential fatty acids) for eicosanoids (http://www.users.cts.com/crash/d/dbrowndc/zonefaq.htm#Unfavorable). Therefore according to this perspective, in order for the body to burn fat and weight loss to occur, insulin must be maintained within a prescribed zone (Kirby, 1997). This high–protein diet is depicted as a life–long hormonal control program which allows a person to maximize full genetic potential. The zone diet allows a person to eat as if they were already at their ideal percentage of body fat because stored calories are being hormonally released. This is the measure undertaken in order to achieve a certain objective and is usually included in a plan for the company. David J. Collis and Michael G. have suggested that a strategy statement describes the action of the general plan and outlines specific activities that should be taken by the company. It does not reflect the impact of the plan for public relations; they are objectives (Collis & Rukstad, 2008). The specific activities that are put in place to ensure that some objectives achieved for a positive impact are also not objectives but just tactics. Strategies combine the aspects of both tactics and objectives. The strategy statement specifies key functions; the tactics can be said to be a clearer version of the strategy, several key taken, but abstract, strategic elements and transforming them into concrete things (Collis & Rukstad, 2008). "Our experience was that we could not find any such thing as a commercially produced snuff film," says Sears. "Our commission was all–inclusive and exhaustive. If snuff films were available, we'd have found them." This sentiment is echoed by Ken Lanning, a cult expert at the FBI training academy at Quantico, Virginia. ... In 1990 The Times printed a story recounting a 1975 American investigation in which police had discovered evidence of Mexican immigrants being killed in snuff films, "in lurid detail to satisfy the insatiable demands of the pornography industry." It goes on to tell the story of a Californian who in 1985 murdered 25 women on film; video tapes of the actual killing were said to be doing a thriving business at video rental stores. In the same Times piece, Dr. Ray Wyre, clinical director of the Gracewell Clinic for convicted paedophiles in Birmingham, England, is quoted as having viewed snuff films firsthand in America. When contacted, however, Wyre indicated that the films he saw were "sophisticated simulations" but insisted that the FBI had a number of snuff films in their possession. He said snuff films were definitely available in England, but that he had never seen one. Detective Mick Hames, head of the Obscene Publications Division at Scotland Yard, responded to Wyre's assertions. "I'd be the first to know if there were any in Britain," says Hames. "But there just aren't. Though I understand snuff films exist in America." For all its lack of verifiable evidence, one wonders why the mythology of snuff survives. Ask any L.A. hipster, and although they themselves haven't seen a snuff film, they know someone who has. It's become an accepted truth, like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Influence of Trisha Brown and Steve Paxton on Modern Dance The direct relationship in the artistic practices and methodologies of Trisha Brown and Steve Paxton played a role in facilitating new ways of appreciating and developing movement. Trisha Brown is considered to be one of the most pivotal choreographers of the 1960's as her work and practice shifted away from historically considered "appropriate" movement for choreography. This ideology references the modern era of choreographers, moving away from the aesthetics of Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham who worked with codified techniques, virtuosity and expressionism, whereas Brown saw dance as being of greater importance to the physical and mental process of the performer. While working with these companies in New York, Paxton discovered his interest in pushing and playing with the body's physical potential. Paxton was inspired by the way Brown could manipulate the physical form, observing the complexity in her form as she played with spills and falls. He found this intriguing as it contrasted his background with Limon and Cunningham working with codified vocabularies; something he considered to be a "paralysis" of the body via technique. Working with Brown at Judson, Paxton was introduced to the methods of improvisation, using this insight to create explorations playing with the dynamics and stability of gravity. The Judson Dance Theatre had a significant influence not only on the direction of Trisha Brown and Steve Paxton's artistic practice, but also the shift towards postmodernism. From the initial public display by aspiring choreographers from Robert Dunn's composition class, Judson went on to become the first avant–garde movement in New York since modern dance in the 1940's. There was an interdisciplinary flavour produced via collaboration with dance, visual art and music, and significant lack of grants and funding ensured that the Judson environment was that of willing participation and exploration. Developments in database processing w6,13,15,28x, data warehousing w16,18x, machine learning w4,12,25x and knowledge management w2,14,24x have contributed greatly to our understanding of the data mining process. More recent research on data mining and knowledge discovery w20,26,27x has further enhanced our understanding of the application of data mining and the knowledge discovery process. But, most research has focused on the theoretical and computational process of pattern discovery and a narrow set of applications such as fraud detection or risk prediction. Given the important role played by marketing decisions in the current customer–centric environment, there is a need for a simple and integrated framework for a systematic management of customer knowledge. By consuming omega–3s daily, one increases the resilience of the brain to kinetic and psychological stresses. A study on rats proved that by taking DHA, one's behavioral memory after a traumatic brain injury will improve in multiple categories compared to those who did not take DHA. The study was proven by having the rats perform wa– ter maze testing, which analyzes memory. Specifically, the phospholipids of the fatty acids serve as a protection mechanism at the cellular and neuron level, specifically the modulation of the in– flammation cascade in order to improve the memory after TMI. The authors recommend taking up to 4g/d of omega–3s daily in order to reduce the severity of effects traumatic brain injury. Mills, J. D., Bailes, J. E., Sedney, C. L., Hutchins, H., & Sears, B.
