About this guide
 This guide identifies the specific requirements that have to be met by the installer and
 operator of the Cambium PTP600-ATEX/Hazloc Series radio products when the
 products are for use in Hazardous Locations.

 Hazardous Locations are those covered by the ATEX regulations in Europe and the
 Hazloc regulations in the USA.



  The normal operating and troubleshooting procedures for the PTP 600 Series are
  described in the PTP 600 Series User Guide, which may be downloaded from the
  support website.

1. Important safety information

  To prevent fire and explosions when installing or operating the PTP 600 Series
  in hazardous locations, observe the instructions in this guide.


Limiting EIRP
 Installation and operation of these products in locations where exposure to hazardous
 gasses is expected will be subject to limiting the EIRP from the PTP600-ATEX/Hazloc
 series of radio products.

 Exceeding the EIRP limits will compromise safety. Please refer to the certificates
 referenced in 2 Allowed operating envelope for special conditions of safe use.

 The EIRP limit depends on the gas class/gas group prevalent in the operating location.


Installing connectorized ODUs
 As shipped by the manufacturer, the equipment is set to meet the most stringent EIRP
 limits assuming an integrated antenna. Special care is therefore needed when operating
 connectorized versions of the radio with external antennas.


PIDU
 The PIDU is intended for indoor use only and is not weatherproof. It has not been
 certified for use in the hazardous environments and must be located in a safe
 environment.


PTP-SYNC
 The PTP-SYNC unit is NOT approved for use in hazardous environments and cannot be
 used to connect to an ODU in the hazardous environments. If there is a need to provide
 a synchronized link, contact Cambium for assistance.


GPS unit
 The GPS unit recommended for use with the PTP-SYNC unit must also be located in a
 safe environment. If that is not possible, then the GPS unit must not be deployed. In
 these circumstances, the timing reference for synchronized units must be obtained from
 either the low level 1 pps signal (via the coaxial interface) or from the timing reference
 of one of the ODUs. Details may be found in the PTP 600 Series User Guide.


Checking labels
 Only those products marked with the qualification labels shown in Part numbers and
 product labels on page 5 may be used in hazardous locations.

Powering down
  Live maintenance and live connection or disconnection of cables is not allowed in the
  hazardous area.


Cleaning
  The radome of the integrated antenna must be cleaned only with an anti-static cloth.

2. Allowed operating envelope
 The PTP600-ATEX/Hazloc Series radio products have been certified for operation in the
 following hazardous locations:


ATEX
 The products have been approved under an ‘Intrinsic Safety’ assessment as defined in
 EN60079-11:2007.

 The approval is given by certificate number TRAC09ATEX31224X, issued by TRaC
 Global, with the specific level of coverage shown below.

     II 3 G Ex ic IIC T4
    II - Equipment group (surface applications)
    3 - Equipment category (infrequent exposure)
    G - Atmosphere (Gas)
    ic - Protection concept (intrinsic safety)
    IIC - Gas group (up to and including Hydrogen and Acetylene)
    T4 - Temperature class (135°C)


Hazloc
 The products have been assessed and found compliant with the requirements of
 UL1604 and CSA C22.2 No. 213 for the following conditions.

 The approval is given by MET Labs under File Reference E113068, with the specific
 level of coverage shown below.

     Complies with UL1604 and CSA C22.2 No. 213
    Class I - Gases, Vapors and Liquids (surface applications)
    Div – 2 (Infrequent Exposure)
    Gas Groups - A, B, C, D (up to and including Hydrogen and Acetylene)
    Operating Temperature Code - T4 (135oC)

Part numbers
 In order to meet specific radio regulations in the USA, Cambium supplies products
 approved for USA/Canada and ETSI/RoW under different part numbers. These part
 numbers are shown in Table 1 and Table 2.

Product labels
  The PTP600-ATEX/Hazloc Series radio products can be identified by their qualification
  labels, shown below.



   The ODU labels are ‘generic’ in terms of radio approvals; some products shipped will
   not have all the radio approvals shown, depending on their specific part number.

4. Installation and operating requirements

General requirements

ATEX regulatory environments
 Installation should be in accordance with the requirements of EN60079-14 as
 applicable.


Hazloc regulatory environments
 Installation should be in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and
 relevant OSHA standard.

 Before installing these products, read 1 Important safety information.


EIRP limitations for radio regulations
 All the PTP 600 Series radio products have to meet local radio regulations, whether or
 not the products are the ATEX/Hazloc approved versions. The local radio regulations
 do vary considerably around the world; Cambium provides a set of region codes or
 license keys to meet those requirements.

 Cambium PTP 600-ATEX/Hazloc Series radio products that are currently released
 operate in the 5.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz bands. These products are shown in Table 3 along
 with the EIRP limits applicable to the frequency band and region from the local radio
 regulations.

 (*1) The radio regulations for this band are not harmonized across Europe. In general
 the limit is 4 W with an additional constraint of 200 mW/MHz. However, in some
 countries the total EIRP is limited to 2 W and in one country 200 W EIRP is allowed.

Regulatory EIRP limits for hazardous locations
  The ATEX and Hazloc standards limit the EIRP as shown in Table 4.

Overall EIRP Limits
  When installed and operating, the equipment EIRP transmitted has to comply with both
  the local radio regulations and the regulations for hazardous locations. From the
  above, it is clear that:

  •     Operation at 5.4 GHz is limited to 1 W EIRP by the Local Radio Regulations.

  •     Operation at 5.8 GHz is limited by:

        o    The regulations for hazardous locations when deployed in the USA.
        o    A combination of the two regulations when deployed in Europe.

5. Installing integrated PTP 600 units

PTP 54600-ATEX/Hazloc integrated
 All PTP54600-ATEX/Hazloc Series radio products shipped with integrated antennas will
 have the product set in the factory to a maximum EIRP of 1 W. At lower channel
 bandwidths than 20 MHz, the EIRP density regulation of 50 mW/MHz will be set as the
 default.

 There will be no facility provided for the installer or operator to increase the EIRP or
 EIRP density levels (the installer or operator will be allowed to set lower levels).


PTP 58600-ATEX/Hazloc integrated
 All PTP58600-ATEX/Hazloc Series radio products shipped with integrated antennas will
 have the product set in the factory to a maximum EIRP of 2 W. The installer or
 operator will be allowed to contact Cambium and request an alternative region code to
 allow operation at higher EIRP levels for use in areas with ATEX gas groups IIA or IIB,
 or Hazloc gas groups C or D.


CE-marked PTP 58600-ATEX/Hazloc devices
 The installer or operator will be allowed to use alternative region codes that provide
 higher EIRP levels up to the 6 W hazard limit. Table 5 specifies the maximum EIRPs
 supported for each gas group.

FCC-marked PTP 58600-ATEX/Hazloc devices
 The installer or operator will be allowed use alternative region codes that provide
 higher EIRP levels up to the 6 W hazard limit. The maximum EIRPs supported will be
 as shown in Table 4.

6. Installing connectorized PTP 600 units

Factory-set power limits
 All PTP54600-ATEX/Hazloc and PTP58600-ATEX/Hazloc Series radio products shipped
 with a connector plate will have the product set in the factory to a power level that
 would provide maximum EIRP of 1 W if the unit had been fitted with an integrated
 antenna. At lower channel bandwidths than 20 MHz, the EIRP density regulation of
 50 mW/MHz will be set as the default.


Procedure for higher gain antennas
 When the device is installed with higher gain antennas, follow this procedure to set a
 safe and legal EIRP level:

   1    Obtain from the supplier or Cambium the license key applicable to the required
        gas group.

   2    Ensure that the antennas are not connected.

   3    Power up the unit and display the Software License Key web page. Update the
        license key as described in Chapter 6 of the PTP 600 Series User Guide and
        reboot the unit as shown.

   4    When the unit is again operational, display the Installation web page (see
        Chapter 6 of the PTP 600 Series User Guide).

   5    Note the gain of the external antenna(s) being used.



          The PTP Series radio products are designed to operate with dual polarized
          (V+H) antennas. However, there are circumstances where two spatially
          diverse single polarization antennas are preferred.

   6    Note the cable loss in dB of each of the coaxial cables connecting the antenna(s)
        to the ODU. Choose the median of the two values if there is any significant
        difference.

   7    Go to Step 2 of the Installation Wizard and enter the noted values for antenna
        gain and cable loss. Select Submit Wireless Configuration to store the
        information and power off the unit.



  When the unit is next powered up, the maximum transmit power will be automatically
  set by the operating software to meet the ATEX/Hazloc limits for the appropriate gas
  group.
  For all PTP54600-ATEX/Hazloc connectorized devices and all CE-marked PTP58600-
  ATEX/Hazloc connectorized devices, it is still the responsibility of the installer to then
  follow the procedures in Chapter 6 of the PTP 600 Series User Guide to set the EIRP to
  meet the applicable radio regulations.

PTP 600 Series Hazardous Location Guide About this guide This guide identifies the specific requirements that have to be met by the installer and operator of the Cambium PTP600-ATEX/Hazloc Series radio products when the products are for use in Hazardous Locations. Hazardous Locations are those covered by the ATEX regulations in Europe and the Hazloc regulations in the USA. The normal operating and troubleshooting procedures for the PTP 600 Series are described in the PTP 600 Series User Guide, which may be downloaded from the support website.   • 5. PTP 600 Series Hazardous Location Guide 1. Important safety information To prevent fire and explosions when installing or operating the PTP 600 Series in hazardous locations, observe the instructions in this guide. Limiting EIRP Installation and operation of these products in locations where exposure to hazardous gasses is expected will be subject to limiting the EIRP from the PTP600-ATEX/Hazloc series of radio products. Exceeding the EIRP limits will compromise safety. Please refer to the certificates referenced in 2 Allowed operating envelope for special conditions of safe use. The EIRP limit depends on the gas class/gas group prevalent in the operating location. Installing connectorized ODUs As shipped by the manufacturer, the equipment is set to meet the most stringent EIRP limits assuming an integrated antenna. Special care is therefore needed when operating connectorized versions of the radio with external antennas. PIDU The PIDU is intended for indoor use only and is not weatherproof. It has not been certified for use in the hazardous environments and must be located in a safe environment. PTP-SYNC The PTP-SYNC unit is NOT approved for use in hazardous environments and cannot be used to connect to an ODU in the hazardous environments. If there is a need to provide a synchronized link, contact Cambium for assistance. GPS unit The GPS unit recommended for use with the PTP-SYNC unit must also be located in a safe environment. If that is not possible, then the GPS unit must not be deployed. In these circumstances, the timing reference for synchronized units must be obtained from either the low level 1 pps signal (via the coaxial interface) or from the timing reference of one of the ODUs. Details may be found in the PTP 600 Series User Guide. Allowed operating envelope The PTP600-ATEX/Hazloc Series radio products have been certified for operation in the following hazardous locations: ATEX The products have been approved under an ‘Intrinsic Safety’ assessment as defined in EN60079-11:2007. The approval is given by certificate number TRAC09ATEX31224X, issued by TRaC Global, with the specific level of coverage shown below. II 3 G Ex ic IIC T4 II - Equipment group (surface applications) 3 - Equipment category (infrequent exposure) G - Atmosphere (Gas) ic - Protection concept (intrinsic safety) IIC - Gas group (up to and including Hydrogen and Acetylene) T4 - Temperature class (135°C) Hazloc The products have been assessed and found compliant with the requirements of UL1604 and CSA C22.2 No. 213 for the following conditions. The approval is given by MET Labs under File Reference E113068, with the specific level of coverage shown below. These part numbers are shown in Table 1 and Table 2. The ODU labels are ‘generic’ in terms of radio approvals; some products shipped will not have all the radio approvals shown, depending on their specific part number. Installation and operating requirements General requirements ATEX regulatory environments Installation should be in accordance with the requirements of EN60079-14 as applicable. Hazloc regulatory environments Installation should be in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and relevant OSHA standard. EIRP limitations for radio regulations All the PTP 600 Series radio products have to meet local radio regulations, whether or not the products are the ATEX/Hazloc approved versions. The local radio regulations do vary considerably around the world; Cambium provides a set of region codes or license keys to meet those requirements. Cambium PTP 600-ATEX/Hazloc Series radio products that are currently released operate in the 5.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz bands. These products are shown in Table 3 along with the EIRP limits applicable to the frequency band and region from the local radio regulations. From the above, it is clear that: • Operation at 5.4 GHz is limited to 1 W EIRP by the Local Radio Regulations. • Operation at 5.8 GHz is limited by: o The regulations for hazardous locations when deployed in the USA. o A combination of the two regulations when deployed in Europe. phn-2527_001v000 (Feb 2012) Page 11

Installing integrated PTP 600 units PTP 54600-ATEX/Hazloc integrated All PTP54600-ATEX/Hazloc Series radio products shipped with integrated antennas will have the product set in the factory to a maximum EIRP of 1 W. At lower channel bandwidths than 20 MHz, the EIRP density regulation of 50 mW/MHz will be set as the default. There will be no facility provided for the installer or operator to increase the EIRP or EIRP density levels (the installer or operator will be allowed to set lower levels). PTP 58600-ATEX/Hazloc integrated All PTP58600-ATEX/Hazloc Series radio products shipped with integrated antennas will have the product set in the factory to a maximum EIRP of 2 W. The installer or operator will be allowed to contact Cambium and request an alternative region code to allow operation at higher EIRP levels for use in areas with ATEX gas groups IIA or IIB, or Hazloc gas groups C or D. CE-marked PTP 58600-ATEX/Hazloc devices The installer or operator will be allowed to use alternative region codes that provide higher EIRP levels up to the 6 W hazard limit. Table 5 specifies the maximum EIRPs supported for each gas group. Installing connectorized PTP 600 units Factory-set power limits All PTP54600-ATEX/Hazloc and PTP58600-ATEX/Hazloc Series radio products shipped with a connector plate will have the product set in the factory to a power level that would provide maximum EIRP of 1 W if the unit had been fitted with an integrated antenna. At lower channel bandwidths than 20 MHz, the EIRP density regulation of 50 mW/MHz will be set as the default. Procedure for higher gain antennas When the device is installed with higher gain antennas, follow this procedure to set a safe and legal EIRP level: 1 Obtain from the supplier or Cambium the license key applicable to the required gas group. 2 Ensure that the antennas are not connected. 3 Power up the unit and display the Software License Key web page. Update the license key as described in Chapter 6 of the PTP 600 Series User Guide and reboot the unit as shown. 4 When the unit is again operational, display the Installation web page (see Chapter 6 of the PTP 600 Series User Guide). 5 Note the gain of the external antenna(s) being used. The PTP Series radio products are designed to operate with dual polarized (V+H) antennas. However, there are circumstances where two spatially diverse single polarization antennas are preferred. 6 Note the cable loss in dB of each of the coaxial cables connecting the antenna(s) to the ODU. Choose the median of the two values if there is any significant difference. 7 Go to Step 2 of the Installation Wizard and enter the noted values for antenna gain and cable loss. Select Submit Wireless Configuration to store the information and power off the unit. When the unit is next powered up, the maximum transmit power will be automatically set by the operating software to meet the ATEX/Hazloc limits for the appropriate gas group. For all PTP54600-ATEX/Hazloc connectorized devices and all CE-marked PTP58600- ATEX/Hazloc connectorized devices, it is still the responsibility of the installer to then follow the procedures in Chapter 6 of the PTP 600 Series User Guide to set the EIRP to meet the applicable radio regulations. phn-2527_001v000 (Feb 2012) Page 13
