Students Learning Outcomes An Overview
Objective of The Session
SLOs An Overview
Understanding The SLO Frame Work
SLO’s Implementation
Single National Curriculum of Pakistan
Please Let me know
What is SLO?
What is Objectives?
What is the Difference between
SLOs and Learning Objectives?
What is
Curriculum?
The lessons and academic
content taught in a school
or in a specific course or
program
Types of Curriculum
Explicit Curriculum (Formal/Written)
Implicit Curriculum (Hidden Informal)
Null Curriculum
Extra Curriculum (Co-Curriculum)
What are the differences
among Curriculum, syllabus and
course?
The Syllabus –
Your Academic
Blueprint
The syllabus is like a blueprint for your
academic adventure, offering a glimpse of
what's ahead. It stirs a mix of excitement and
anticipation, setting the stage for your journey.
The Course – or Content
Where Learning Comes Alive
The course is where your emotions truly soar.
It's where you dive into the subject, feel the
thrill of understanding, and experience the
camaraderie of learning with others. It's the
heart of your educational odyssey, where the
syllabus comes to life.
Describe what is curriculum?
Syllabus Vs Course
SDGs - Our Hope for a
Better World
SDG4
Quality Education - Quality
education is a path to brighter futures, where
every child has the chance to learn and grow.
Single National Curriculum
of Pakistan (SNC 2020)
The Single National Curriculum
of Pakistan in 2020 is a unifying
educational framework that
evokes hope for a more
inclusive and equitable future,
where every child has the
opportunity to learn and thrive.
Competencies
Standards
Benchmarks
SLOs
What are Competencies?
What is a Standard?
What is a Benchmark?
What are SLOs?
Competencies or Strands
These are the foundation of the educational
journey, like the roots of a tree. They represent the
overarching skills, knowledge, and abilities that
students should acquire in a particular subject or
field. Competencies give us a sense of purpose and
direction, shaping the entire learning experience.
Standards
Standards - Think of standards as the strong
branches that grow from the roots of
competencies. They provide a clear framework
for what students should achieve at a certain
grade level or within a specific area of study.
Standards are like guiding stars, lighting the
path towards mastery and excellence.
Benchmarks
Benchmarks are like the leaves on the branches,
offering more specific, measurable goals within the
broader standards. They represent checkpoints along the
educational journey, allowing us to track progress and
ensure that students are on the right track. Benchmarks
bring a sense of achievement and motivation, like reaching
small milestones on a long journey.
SLOs (Student Learning Outcomes)
SLOs are like the blossoms that emerge from
the branches and leaves. They are the
individual, observable outcomes that reflect
a student's performance and understanding.
SLOs are the tangible proof of growth and
development, providing a sense of
accomplishment and pride both for students
and educators.
The Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) comprise of the skills, learner
strategies, attitudes and behaviors required to achieve the
benchmarks and standards.
Progression Grid
The Progression Grid below is divided by grade level;
Grades 9-12
A. Oral Communication Skills
B. Reading and Critical Thinking
C. Vocabulary and Grammar
D. Writing
The English language
curriculum 2022 outlines the
following competencies of
language learning
These competencies are the
areas of language learning
• Develop competence in listening and spoken language in order to
communicate effectively across a variety of contexts and to a range of
audiences.
Standard 1:
• Listen to and respond to a variety of spoken discourse at
increasing levels of difficulty in different contexts. Apply
a range of listening strategies individually and
collaboratively to comprehend and interpret by critically
analyzing information.
Benchmark I
• Explore simple to complex ideas and issues in a
two to three-act play

Students Learning Outcomes are Statements That
Specify What students will know, be able to do or
be able to demonstrate when they have
completed or Participated in a course or a
program at a specific grade.
SLOs Specify an action by the students that must
be observable, measurable and be able to be
demonstrated by the students in the formative
