Without thinking too much, the eye takes photo after photo. It moves
without much direction and notices without being told to. “Captured: Korea -
Before the Cherry Blossoms Came” is my eye frozen in March 2017, just
before the cherry blossoms came.
I walked. I snapped. I thought things and jotted them down. Korea has a
certain magnificence to it, a quirky appeal, unlike other countries I’ve been
to. I knew as soon as my feet hit the street that I had to document every
observation, every small, little nuance in every corner. All together, these
small, seemingly insignificant details make up one very unique and beautiful
picture.
I hope in the melodrama of your life that you take time out for the small
pleasures. Turn to this book when you need a reminder to take pictures with
your eyes once in awhile. Find this book in the moments where you’re
missing something; you can’t quite recall what, but something nostal-gic is
burning in you. Turn to this book when you find yourself missing Korea
because it’s the little things about Korea that make it so endearing to you.
Allow this book to fulfill a calm, complacent, silent understanding.
