Finds 1st gun's barrel is defected
Gontle gives a 2nd gun(same type)
John asks Gontle to load the gun with bullets
Lomax and John go to the cellar to test the gun
John has 5 bullets as 1 was tested
Note:- Revolver has 6 bullets
Deal is sealed and John leaves

John says he has no interest
John says he already received Emily's letter
John Burns part of Emily's letter
He says if Emily moves away and divorces him
He will find Emily and kill her.

John was dead on the spot. The bullet hit his right temple.
Jumps out of the window on the brick pavement.
Decides to enter again from the entrance
Asks the Hall porter for a room
Hall Porter asks Lomax to wait in the hotel lounge, He has a cocktail
He leaves the hotel
Panic and Escaping
16. Lomax was at the port of quangate
He took his revolver from his overcoat pocket and stealthily
dropped it into thesea
Then he turned around and gazed across
He reminded himself - The Hall porter had not seen his first
entrance into the hotel, nor his exit after the crime. Nobody had
seen them. He had left nothing behind in the billiard-room. No
finger marks on the window sill. No footmarks on the hard dry
pavement of thecourtyard
There was a possibilty that some person unseen had seen him,
such a person informed the police and gave a description of him
Harder walked quickly to the harbour front, where there was a
taxi-rank, and drove to the station
During this travel he thinks every single person is watching him

2. He remembered that he had left the unburnt part of the
letter under the billiard table. Forgetful !Silly !This evidence
could turn up against him.
3. He starts finding Emily as she has planned they will leave
today for Copenhagen
4. They leave to their destination to start a new life
Important Note:- Emily is unaware of the murder
