SAP EAM MASTER DATA-COMPLIANCE IS THE KEY
Master data is the backbone of a company performing Enterprise Asset Management (EAM). The water business is an asset
intensive industry. Fairfax Water (FW) owns close to forty thousand pieces of equipment. FW had a real issue with poor or even
missing equipment Master Data before we implemented SAP. Fairfax Water lacked EAM Master Data Policies and Procedures.
After attending SAP Centric EAM Master Data School in 2011, Jeff Smith decided he needed to do something about FW poor
equipment master data. Handoffs with our engineering department on previous large projects did not happen so it was up to the
planners and workers to walk around gathering name plate data for those large projects. Fairfax Water has improved its
equipment master data by over 130% by measuring Master Data compliance and putting some policies in place. This has allowed
Fairfax Water to gain efficiencies it never has seen. These efficiencies are not only for the planner/ schedulers but also for
procurement. Master Data compliance is effective once you get everyone involved and get the policies are in place.

HANA ACCELERATORS - MAKING THE SIDE-CAR YOUR MAIN CAR
While Suite on HANA is making a big push, a number of customers have purchased HANA as their BI solution. This investment can
be leveraged by implementing the HANA Accelerators (aka HANA Side-Car). With two flavors (SAP delivered and Custom
Accelerators), the Return on Investment for most organizations can be improved significantly by the use of this technology. At
USDA, this technology is being used to not only speed up reports, but to improve transaction processing and interfaces. This
presentation will detail how this was accomplished at USDA and how any Public Sector (or other industry) organization can see

CONNECTING LIVE: THE GIS + SAP ASSET MANAGEMENT BOND
Two of the most pressing questions for the utility industry are: 1) where are assets located and 2) what is their work history? By
integrating GIS with SAP, we can answer both questions simultaneously. Loudoun Water leveraged the ArcGIS REST API to build a
live, bidirectional connection between GIS and SAP. This eliminates the need for duplicate data entry while synchronizing features
in GIS with the equipment and work history information in EAM, enabling a variety of location-based analyses.
