Acharya compared hunam being as a tree and comprises
the root( head) on the top and branches (trunk and limbs)
underneath it. Similar to a tree by striking at the roots the
disease can be cured quickly. Head is that where all the
sense organs are loacted and in which life resides . So it
should be protected with great efforts.

 The human head is home to all the body’s major sensory organs, and
the most important of these is the brain.
 Although the nose, ears, tongue, nerves, and others parts are
important, without a healthy brain, they’d all be useless.
 Encased in the skull, the brain is the body’s centralized conveyor of
all information. Much of its job involves receiving information from
the rest of the body, interpreting that information, and then guiding
the body’s response to it.
 Input the brain interprets includes odor, light, sound, and pain, and
these are gathered from organs located in the head
10/16/2023
17
CONCLUSION
 The head comprises of all the components and
machinery to control the entire body mechanics and
dynamics.
 This is the place where all Indriyas (Sense organs) are
located and regulated.
 The head is called as “Uttamanga” part of the body
because it is the control centre of the entire body.
10/16/2023
18
 Shira is the chief controlling mechanism of our body .All the
systems like circulatory , respiratory etc are being governed ,
controlled , regulated , and maintained by this topmost controller
 If a nervous control of any organ is interrupted , its physiological
activities will be disturbed . Hence for maintain all the systems ,
structures of the body in normal physiological conditions , the
shira / brain must remain healthy . Any disturbance in the
homeostatic conditions of dosha , dhatu , mala of shira i.e. any
pathological condition in brain shall precipitate pathology in
different parts of body
 Hence for physical and mental health shira must be maintained

Much of its job involves receiving information from the rest of the body, interpreting that information, and then guiding the body’s response to it.  Input the brain interprets includes odor, light, sound, and pain, and these are gathered from organs located in the head 10/16/2023 17
