Assignment – Karl Marx
Karl Marx ideas are, still on nowadays, considered of the utmost importance regarding
Socialism, mainly the ones addressing the social class structure, the criticisms of
capitalism and the vision of communism as an alternative.
For instance, Karl Marx divides the society in two classes: the capitalist/bourgeoisie class
is the one that owns and controls the country. The other class is the proletariat, that is
exploited by the first, being only able to gain a living by selling its labour power to the
capitalist class for a price.
Hence, it is also uttered that the ones who have the economic power control all other
institutions in the society.
Therefore, Marx calls for a revolution, as a political action, in order to bring the proletariat
to power. Ideally, after the revolution, there would be no more private property, being
abolished, along with the motive of profit and the desire to exploit. In this society, the
communist society, Marx says that people would live better, be more equal, be happier,
have better living and working conditions and be able to enjoy its freedom.
