2. What is Filtration…???
Filtration is commonly the mechanical or
physical operation which is used for the
separation of solids from fluids(liquids or gases)
by interposing a medium through which only
the fluid can pass.
The fluid that passes through it is called
Filtrate.
4. Hot Filtration
This method is commonly used
to separate solids from a hot
solution.
This is done in order
to prevent crystal formation in
the filter funnel and other
apparatus that comes in contact
with the solution.
5. Cold Filtration
This method uses ice-bath in
order to rapidly cool down the
solution to be crystallized rather
than leaving it out to cool it
down slowly in the room
temperature. This technique
results to the formation of very
small crystals as opposed to
getting large crystals by adding
the solution down at room
temperature.
6. Vaccum
Filtration
This technique is most preferred for
small batch of solution in order to
quickly dry out small crystals.
This method requires a bucher
funnel,filter paper of smaller diameter
than the funnel,Buchner flask and
rubber tubing to connect to vaccum
source.

8. More about Filtration
Filtration is another ancient and widely used technology
that removes particles and at least some microbes from
water. A variety of filter media and filtration processes are
available for household or point-of-use treatment of water.
The practicality, ease of use, availability, accessibility and
affordability of these filtration media and methods vary
widely and often depend on local factors. The effectiveness
of these filtration methods in reducing microbes also varies
widely, depending on the type of microbe and the type and
quality of the filtration medium or system.
