Control ( MAC )
In Mandatory Access Control, an individuals’
ability to grant or deny access is restricted.
The system works on criteria defined by a
system administrator which is strictly
followed by the operating system.
5. PROs Of Mandatory
Access Control
Offers tighter security as only the System
Administrator can alter the criteria pre-
fixed in the system.
MAC policies also reduce the chances of
policy errors
6. Cons Of Mandatory Access
Control
Requires careful planning and continuous
evaluation
Scalability with MAC is not automatic &
time-consuming
7. Discretionary Access
Control ( DAC )
In Discreationary Access Control, the
business owner is responsible for managing
access permissions.
The operating system in this case does not
decide to allow for deny entry based on any
criteria.
9. PROs Of Discretionary
Access Control
DAC systems are usually easier to
manage
Very commonly used in UNIX,
Windows, Linux, and other network
operating systems
10. Cons Of Discretionary
Access Control
Users can also delete files while
reading & writing also.
DAC systems can be a little less
secure than MAC systems
11. Role-Based Access
Control
In Role-Base Access Control System, access
is granted based on the role & responsibility
of an individual.
In this method, the admin can restrict access
to privileged information based on the duties,
authority, and job competency of an individual.
13. PROs Of Role-Based
Access Control
Allows additional safety for
sensitive & privileged information in
an enterprise.
Reduces administrative work & IT
Support
