4. The Drop Out: Turn On, Tune In...
• Admitted in Reed College, Portland in 1972
• Skipped required classes and enjoyed Dance
classes
• Decided to drop out in the same year
• Joined Terry Inc. for $5/hour
The Visit to India
• Saved money to visit India
• Came back as a Buddhist
• Wore traditional clothes

John Sculley: The Pepsi Challenge
• Steve Wozniak built Apple Mac I
• Together with Ronald Wayne, Apple started
in Jobs’ garage in 1976
• In 1983, Jobs managed to convince John
Sculley to leave Pepsico Inc. and join Apple
as CEO
• The Macintosh was introduced in 1984

6. Out of his own EMPIRE, Built

• In 1985, Jobs and Sculley had conflict over
Macintosh and Apple II projects
• Jobs idea failed
• Resigned along with 5 other senior Apple
employees
• Founded NeXT Inc.

7. PIXAR: Technology meets Art
• Paid $10 million and acquired The
Graphics Group, a branch of Lucasfilm's
computer graphics division
• Later renamed as PIXAR Animation
Studios
• Sold PIXAR to Microsoft in 1994
• In 1995, PIXAR debuted with THE TOY
STORY earning more than $350 millions
worldwide

by ONE
• Apple bought NeXT for $427 millions
• Jobs returns to Apple as an advisor
• Apple returns to profitability
• Jobs named as CEO of Apple in 2000

• Apple released iPhone in 2007
• Sold 3.7 million iPhones in 2007, 13.7 million
in 2008 and 25.1 million in 2009, rising
dramatically each year until 2015, when the
company peaked at 231.5 million sales
• In 2010, Apple launched iPad
• iPad sales peaked in 2014 with 68 million units

11. New Battles
• In October 2003, Jobs was diagnosed with
Pancreatic cancer
• Jobs didn’t follow doctor’s recommendations
and believed in natural healing
• In 24th August 2011, Jobs resigned Apple
mentioning he could not meet his duties and
expectations as a CEO.
• On 5th October, 2011, Jobs died of Pancreatic
Cancer at the age of 56
