Serial to fiber optic converters, also known as fiber optic modems (FOM), are widely used in industrial networks and commercial applications for data signal transfer and electronic communication.
2. Serial to fiber optic converters, also known as fiber optic modems
(FOM), are commonly used for data signal transfer and electronic
communication in industrial systems and commercial applications.
Using fiber optic cable assemblies, the converted signals are
transmitted. We include fiber data and voice links at Versitron that
ensure secure single-mode as well as multimode, fiber optic cables
for communications.
3. • We have developed fiber optic data and voice links over the years that ensure protection, greater bandwidth, and
immunity to EMI / RFI. Over wide distances, they can provide continuous signals while maintaining low signal
attenuation. The SFP technology is fitted with our new FOM II series modems. As a standard, they are supplied
with LC connectors.
• Products of the FOM II series maintain high versatility and are compatible with our new products from Micro modem.
Along with various connection options, they guarantee seamless connectivity.
• For serial RS-422, RS-232, RS-449, RS-485, and V.35 protocols, the FOM II fiber optic serial data modems provided by us
serve as converters.
• Our commercial fiber optic micro models provide a limited footprint with efficient fiber optic data transmission.
• To ensure secure operation and signal transmission over long distances, they are used both in underwater and airport
applications.
4. In serial networks, long-distance networks, and high EMI conditions, our FOM
II fiber optic serial data modems and fiber optic Micromodems are used.
These serial data modems provide the following standard applications:
• Controlling data for traffic control
• Control of data traffic for production/assembly platforms
• Underwater communication of data for submerged devices
• Controlling data traffic for airports
5. • Two configurations, namely RS232 and RS-485, include serial media converters. It is important to understand before
using RS232 that it is useful for single inputs and for translating multiple output signals. Whereas, for multiple inputs
and single or multiple output form connections, RS485 is sufficient. Let us now explore how these serial media
converters can be used.
• The first serial data modem must be connected to the input control system, regardless of the configuration, from
which the electrical signal is taken as the input.
• The operator must link the first serial data modem to another serial data modem that connects to the controlling
device for the output signal.
• Fiber optic wire is the connecting media between two serial to fiber data converters or modems. Through the modem
interface, the electronic to optical signal conversion can be reversed.
