Fluids and Electrolytes Essay
Advanced Pathophysiology & Health Assessment NUR5703 2011
Pre–course Learning Objectives:
Fluids and Electrolytes: 1. Identify and describe the composition of the fluid compartments within the body
Either Intracellular fluid (ICF– 2/3 of the body's water) or extracellular fluid (ECF –one third of the body's water). The two main extracellular fluid
compartments are the interstitial fluid and the intravascular fluid, which is the blood plasma. Other ECF compartments include the lymph and the
transcellular fluids such as the synovial , intestinal, bilary, hepatic, pancreatic, CSF, sweat, urine, pleural, peritoneal, pericardial and intraocular fluids.
2. Discuss the function of the following electrolytes within the body and...show more content...
magnesium is a major intracellular cation. About 40–60% is stored in muscle and bone with 30% in the cells. A small amount 1% is in the serum.
Magnesium is a cofactor in intracellular enzymatic reactions, protein synthesis, nucleic acid stability, and neuromuscular excitability. * Calcium: Ca++
2.25–2.75 mmol/L. Most calcium (99%) is located in the bone and the remainder is in the plasma and body cells. Calcium is a necessary ion for
many fundamental metabolic processes: * It is the major cation for the structure of bones and teeth * It serves as an enzymatic cofactor for blood
clotting * Is required for hormone secretion and the function of cell receptors * Plasma membrane stability and permeability are directly related to
calcium ions, as is the transmission of nerve impulses and the contraction of muscles * ICF calcium is primarily located in the mitochondria *
Chloride: Cl– 95–105 mmol/L. Chloride is the major anion in the ECF. It provides electroneutrality, particularly in relation tosodium * Phosphate:
HPO4– 0.5– 1.25 mmol/L : Phosphate is primarily found in the bones (85%) with smaller amounts found in the intracellular and extracellular spaces.
Phosphate act as an intracellular and extracellular anion buffer in the regulation of acid–base balance; in the form of ATP it provides energy for muscle
contraction

Summary: A Quick Explanation
A quick explanation. First Andrea was blowing up my phone all week to check the status on the authorization and I explained to her we have a
department work on obtaining authorization will let know once she clear. Finally on 8/27/2015 I decided to obtain the auth myself because she
was driving me crazy. So I called CIV to find out what CPT codes to use to obtain authorization for a bone marrow procedure. Keep in mind this
was the day before, so that mean no one in CIV had worked on her case. Second of all she keep saying that I felled to get an auth for the genetic
testing but I did what CIV advised me do. So if you think about it, not even CIV obtain authorization for pathology or genetic testing . I was nice
enough to assist with obtaining authorization because I could have just redirected her to CIV and let them deal with the problem but I didn't ....show

In the following weeks she received an EOB from her insurance company . A EOB is an Explanation of Benefits it's not a bill. The EOB explains
the coverage initially offered by the insurance company for the services render. I explained to her that I was willing to write an appeal letter for
whatever wasn't paid for but "she has to wait until UM send her a bill". Why? Because then I can appeal or justify whatever wasn't paid for . She
finally received her bill last week. Humana didn't pay for the genetic testing , so I called Humana and asked what I needed to retroact the genetic
testing. All Human asked for was for clinical . I'm still working with Humana. I understand she frustrated and I apologized to her multiple time but
she has made this whole situation hard. Dalia, patient relation and myself have been working on this. It seems like Mrs. Williams doesn't understand
their process. I was very close on sending her to risk management because she was becoming very passive and rude in her

Before entering English 1301, I had my doubts about what this class was going to consist of. Considering this is a college level English class, and a
subject I struggled in, my worries were not at ease. Throughout the year, my understanding and comprehension of the writing process, as well as how to
write different varieties of writing, have strengthened. After partaking in this course, I am confident I have met the student learning outcomes. After
completing my first college level English class, I would be expected to meet four student learning outcomes. One of those being I could use rhetorical
devices to strengthen my essays. Coming into this course, I did not have a grasp over this subject and knew it was something I could improve on....show

I have improved my grammar through feedback from my instructor, and workshops I participated in. There is a significant difference between my
writing conventions from the beginning of the year to my present writing conventions. In my second essay, The Drastic Evolution of Teen Life, I have
noticed many writing convention errors. In this essay I said, "Also with the lack of technology, they were influenced to be more adventurous and get
out of the house and explore things on their own" (The Drastic Evolution of Teen Life) This sentence is a prime example of faulty sentence structure; it
lacks punctuation in the right places. My third essay, Euthanasia: Condemned by Doctors, has less errors and shows improvement on these writing
conventions. Improvement can be seen in the sentence, " Euthanasia should not be legal because it is not morally correct, undermines medical
research, and denies patients the final stage of growth"(Euthanasia: Condemned by Doctors). This shows development on sentence structure,
punctuation, and helps gives my essay a polished look. Without this, errors I may have previously made would be even more

The Biological Perspective : Psychology Essay
PSYCHOLOGY 1010: CONTEMERORY PSYCHOLOGY:
1.The Biological Perspective: This is the study of exactly how the physical events within the physical body interact with the events in the external
environment. This is expressed by our perceptions, memories, behaviors and interactions with everything around us. We can think about our heredity
and genetic makeup and the influences that has on each one of us as an individual. Then think about the stress of poor health and illness and how we
may express our emotions with those around us. Since we are diverse as individuals we rely on our physiological make up and the stimuli of our
environment to adapt to each situation. This human biology helps us to constantly adapt and survive in an ever–changing world.
2.The Behavioral Perspective: This perspective is based on environmental rewards and punishers to encourage or discourage behaviors. This is usually
notes through direct observation of the particular act in the specific environment. Social cognitive learning is used to further explain values,
expectations, and intentions of the individual. This theory was the main stream behaviorist theory for over 50 years, as it focuses on precision and
objectivity. It is thought to have advanced science as a whole and has given psychology some of the most accurate and detailed finding to date.
3.The Cognitive Perspective: This is a way to explain how an individual's thoughts and explanations have a profound effect on their actions feelings

Examples Of A Memorable Experience Essay
Memorable Moments
First, my memorable and valuable experience in college has allowed me the chance to be able to sharpen my study skills in my chosen field.
There have been opportunities for me to learn and improve my skills through my time in college, which I am very thankful and happy about. For
example, at my school, in the Writing Center, I have learned some writing tips that I didn't even know existed, and had this not been a part of my
experience I would still be unaware. Because of this, despite what I was thinking, I still had quite a bit to learn; but this has given me the chance to
improve my craft more through attending school, as well as give me a lot more confidence in the area that I plan to study towards. And as a result,
some day I will have a rewarding career from this memorable and value experience....show more content...

beforehand I had no knowledge of. From this experience, I have learned a lot of things about these cultures that were very interesting and how the
religions are followed. Also, learning about all the different practices and ideas of the religions in different parts of the world, such as worshipping
multiple deities, reincarnation, and meditation, has been memorable to me because of its value, and all the misconceptions that are cleared up now
that I once had, which has enabled me to understand the topic better and be less ignorant. It has also helped me understand traditions and beliefs of
others more clear, no matter where in the world of their origin. This has made my time as a student a lot more memorable, worthwhile, and

Hunger. Emptiness. Death. In the novel Night by Elie wiesel speaks about hunger as something all jews were used to, empty and deprived of nutrition
they were already dead. Hunger consumes all hope and love that people have with one another.
Body Paragraph 1
In Night, hunger devours most relationships within the vile gates of auschwitz, for example when Elie Wiesel was on the train cart he witnessed a son
kill his own father for some crust "Meir, my little Meir! Don't you recognize me... You're killing your father... I have bread... for you too..." (pg 101).
From hunger a son betrayed his own father only to fill his stomach, in the end they both died due to their desire to contain hunger. When Elie talks

Essay on The Meaning of Life
The Meaning of Life
My few years on this planet have been a bit confusing. I have learned of many aspects of life from which one can draw meaning, if indeed such
meaning can be drawn. I have also learned that there can be no singular meaning of life to stand for us all, or even any one of us. What I have learned
above all is that trying to put words to the meaning of life is a task of absolute absurdity. This is not to be confused with the idea that life has no
meaning, for life certainly has meaning. However, there is no single meaning of life to be defined – life is different for us all. Therefore, rather than
define life for an entire planet, I shall try to explain what life means as I perceive it, and why it means so....show more content...
Life is a complicated twist of suffering, laughing, and learning all merging to tell a great story – or great many stories. Based on this view, "it is not the
end goal or outcome of life that gives life meaning but rather the quality of the story, the quality with which one lives out and develops his or her role."
At the time, this event seemed rather insignificant and did not merit remembrance. However, its catastrophic effects on my attitude that evening may
have helped to mold me into the person I have become. I learned that suffering through such an event, as childish as it was, is quite necessary in any
life. Such pains are part of an interminable cycle and only generate balance in one's life (p. 62, 'Life as Suffering'). Despite my horrid time spent that
evening, the laughter brought since the incident is a worthy tradeoff. Laughter is an all too necessary function of life, just as suffering and the wide
range of other emotions. "Some thinkers would emphasize the importance of sophistication in humor, but others would say that laughter itself is what
is important." Whatever the case may be, laughter is an important ingredient in life, and must not be taken for granted nor ignored.
Despite such emotional ties to life, I have also learned that life is not only about emotions. Those emotions are generated from the chain reactions
created endlessly in

the "Common Sense" textbook, how to cite research, examples, and quotations properly within the contents of my research paper as well as document

This allowed me to write more extensively on the topic I had chosen which in turn helped expand the size of my research paper. I received a B on

writing became a little trickier because I had to understand what it was I needed to write about and the style in which I need to write it in. There
are nine essay writing methods which I learned while attending this course: exemplification, compare/contrast, cause and effect, proposal, narration,
process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to
me by the instructor was finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything else became easier. I
would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing
was in its best form. Most of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was understood. My final drafts
were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them. For my exemplification essay I chose to write about the reasons why condoms

Speech Reflection Essay
During speech class this semester, I gave several different types of speeches on several different topics. During this semester, my ability to give
speeches in front of an audience has improved quite a bit, I hope. Going into the semester, I had a really hard time giving speeches to people, but now
that speech is almost over I feel like I am more capable of doing so. I think the thing I did best during the semester was getting good information for
each of my speeches. My favorite assignment was most likely the impromptu speech. I really liked that one because we did not have to prepare an
outline or anything like that, we just got to go up there and speak. During this semester, I learned a lot about how to give speeches such as the proper
way to stand so I do not rock, or how to use my hands to emphasize my points. In the future, I think that I will be able to control my speed better
during my speeches which will help the people I am presenting to understand my message. I think the skills I have acquired during speech will
help me for the rest of my life. No matter what career I choose, I am sure that at some point I will have to present to someone about something. The
skills I learned in speech will also help me just communicate with people in a one on one situation easier than I do now. I can use these skills
throughout the rest of high school and through my six years of college still to come because whenever I have to present a project I will know how to
effectively communicate my message to my audience.
Based off of all of my reflection sheets, video evaluations, and peer critiques I have improved over the course of the semester. At the beginning of
the semester I had a problem with speed and using to many "filler" words. As the year progressed, my speed became more and more controllable
and I used less and less filler words. After my most recent speech, I'm still not quite at the level I want to be at, but I am far better than I was at the
very beginning. I think just speaking in front of people more than I am used to doing has helped me develop better speaking skills and grow in my
ability to effectively communicate with others. Throughout the semester I learned a lot about speaking, performing, and

Explanation about a Personal Situation
Explanatory Essay The following information is being provided as an explanation to the University as to issues that have significantly impacted
my school performance and represent changes in my personal and school related goals. On Sept. 18th, 2011 at 2:44 am in Hamilton Ontario,
Canada my girlfriend was killed in a hit and run accident. The driver was drunk and didn't stop when he hit her. I was very depressed and continue
struggle with bouts of depression that keep me from fully concentrate on my studies. My average for almost all 4U classes are around 95, but when
this thing happened, my result dropped from high 90s to high 70's. This is mainly because the depression after her death. I understand that many
individuals have to unfortunately deal with the death of a loved one. For me, the sudden and unexpected nature of her demise, and under the
circumstances surrounding her death, I was completely devastated. It was different than any other loss I had ever experienced. There was no way to
prepare myself for what happened. What minute we were talking and making plans to see each other later, and the seemingly in the next minute, I
was being told that she was gone. Even in writing these words as an effort to explain my current academic situation, I find myself struggling to put
the words on paper. It still seems so unreal to me. In addition to the feelings of grief and loss I have and continue to experience, there is also very
significant and disturbing levels of anger

Explanation, Understanding, and Subjectivity
ABSTRACT: Many theorists of explanation from Hempel onward have worked with the explicit or implicit assumption that considerations of the
subjective sense of understanding should be kept out of the formulation of a proper theory of explanation. They claim that genuine understanding of an
event comes only from being in an appropriate cognitive relation to the true explanation of that event. I argue that considerations of the subjective sense
of understanding cannot be completely removed from the process of formulating and justifying an acceptable theory of explanation. Although
understanding is neither a necessary nor sufficient condition for an explanation, understanding is necessary as an...show more content...
Hence, we cannot say that anyone's sense of understanding is either necessary or sufficient for an account to be an explanation. However, I shall argue,
we cannot completely avoid all reference to understanding in a correct theory of explanation. This situation presents a pressing problem for
philosophical studies of the nature of explanation, for many theorists relegate the sense of understanding to a strictly derivative position by claiming that
the subjective sense of understanding of an event comes, under appropriate (articulable) conditions, from consideration of a potential explanation, and
that genuine understanding comes, under appropriate conditions, from consideration of the true explanation. (See, for example, Hempel 1948,
256–257.) According to such philosophers we should rely on a proper theory of explanation to delineate potential explanations from non–explanatory
accounts and a delineation of understanding will follow. I shall argue that this is not a workable option.
One can also express the issue at hand in terms of the relative subjectivity or objectivity of explanation. Some theorists of explanation state an
objectivity criterion for an account of explanation, and many others implicitly employ one. Wesley Salmon, for example, states clearly that the
identifying criteria for scientific explanations must be objective, independent of personal, psychological considerations.

My Best Experience With Exercise In My Life
Your body is sore from physical exercises and you feel like giving up. Then you realize that having exercise in your life will help reach your
personal goals. Exercise can be a pain, but it is the good type of pain that motivates us to reach our goals. Currently, exercise has helped me to study
better for tests and to enjoy a fun sport with family. If I continue to have exercise in my life, I will have a healthy future.
My best experience with exercise was when I learned how to ride a two–wheel bicycle. I was 11 years old at the time and my father bought a new
bicycle for me. We went to a park and my father was giving me a little push to move forward. I almost fell and my nerves were kicking in. However, I

I still remember my whole body being sore from the first exercise routine. It showed me how much I needed to exercise my body or I will be in big
trouble when it comes to anything physical. I had to do pushups, sit ups, and so much more. When I went to the gym, I was given a personal
workout to complete. I will make my own exercise plan to implement in my studying hours at college. This gym class helped me to push my
hardest, even if I felt a lot of pain. I was able to overcome difficult workouts, like performing, squats, mountain climbers, and especially burpees.
Time management is a weakness that I still need to work on. I will be able to manage my time with studies and physical activities in college. At the
beginning of the year, my goals were to lose pounds, and improve on exercises that I did not like, such as running and pushups. I improved on my
running by running up a hill multiple times. I had more oxygen pumping throughout my body that enable me to run a farther distance.I lost some
pounds and my family is seeing the change. However, I still have to work on having a better diet. I tend to eat large portions that are not healthy for
me, like two plates of white rice. I will continue to lead a healthier lifestyle and hopefully my siblings do the

Starting and Running a Business Essay
Starting and Running a Business Despite being an intimidating prospect for most people, there are millions of entrepreneurs in the US. Some of
them turn out to be very successful, others, not so much. There are many steps to starting and running a business, but many of them can be easily
accomplished simply by filling out some forms, and several small fees. Businesses have been around since the beginning of bartering, an apple for
some wheat, a horse for a wife, a daughter for a house. (In no way reflecting what I would trade) The startups of businesses across time have never

most important thing is starting a business is having a business plan. This is the only way any bank will approve you for a business loan. [1] Without
this business plan, the bank has no way to analyze the business's performance thus far. The SBA offers a template for how to lay out a business plan.
The following is how a good business template should be formatted (from SBA.gov).

Scientific Theory Essay
Scientific Theory
A scientific theory is a well–substantiated explanation of some aspects of the natural world, based on a body of knowledge that has been repeatedly
confirmed through observation and experiment. Scientist creates scientific theories from hypothesis that have been corroborated through the scientific
method, then gather evidence to test their accuracy. The strength of a scientific theory is related to the diversity of phenomena it can explain, which is
measured by its ability to make falsifiable predictions with respect to the phenomena. Scientific theories are the most reliable, rigorous, and
comprehensive for of scientific knowledge.
The scientific method involves the proposal and testing of hypotheses, by deriving...show more content...
Theories are the main goal in science and no explanation can achieve a higher rank. (to the belief that "theories" become "laws" over time). In some
cases, theories can unify. Two or more theories can be replaces by a single theory which explains the previous theories as approximations or special
cases, comparable to the way a theorys is connecting explanation for many confirmed hypotheses: This is reffered to as Unification of Theories. Both
scientific laws and scientific theories are produced from scientific methods through the formation and testing of hypotheses, and can predict the
behavior of the natural world. Both are typically supported by observation and experimental science. However, scientific laws are descriptive accounts
of how nature will behave under certain conditions. Scientific theories are broader in scope, and give overarching explanations of how nature works
and why it exhibits certain characteristics. They are supported by evidence from many different sources, and may contain one or more laws.

Essay about Crime
Crime
In general the definition of a crime is an act punishable by law, usually considered an evil act. Crime refers to many types of misconduct forbidden
by law. Crimes include such things as murder, stealing a car, resisting arrest, possession or dealing of illegal drugs, being nude in public , drunk
driving, and bank robbery. Crime is an act that has been timeless and has been committed practically since the start of time. For example, ever since
Cain killed his brother Abel (B.C.), people being charged with witchcraft in the 1600's, prostitution, to the current crimes of modern day(A.D.). Even
though crime has existed throughout time it has progressed and branched out taking many types forms....show more content...
Crimes are frequently classified according to their seriousness as felonies or misdemeanors. Generally, felonies are more serious than misdemeanors.
Under the federal criminal law system, felonies are crimes for which the punishment is death or imprisonment for more than a year. Amisdemeanor is
punishable by a fine or by imprisonment for less than a year. In most states persons convicted of felonies are sent to state prisons, while those guilty of
misdemeanors serve their sentence in city, or county jails, or correction houses.
Crimes against people include assault, kidnapping, murder, and sexual attacks. Such crimes usually bring severe punishments. Crimes against property
include arson, automobile theft, burglary, embezzlement, forgery, fraud, larceny, and vandalism. In most cases, these crimes carry lighter penalties
than the crimes set against the person. Robbery is the crime most difficult to classify. The law considers robbery a crime against the person or against
the property, according to the case. Robbery may involve simply stealing property from another person, but when a personal encounter occurs between
the robber and his victim, it may include violence and bodily harm. This usually occurs during muggings or other strong–arm robberies.

Landscapes Essay
Take–Home Essay The world we live in today is always changing, whether it be technology or the land. As these changes take place, society must
adapt to them. Many things begin to change as a result of this and society beings to turn into something completely different. One of the most
overlooked changes that takes place is that of the environment and landscape. The landscape is one of the most important parts of our society's culture
and has a great effect on how we live. It seems that nowadays, many individuals are taking advantage of the land and nothing appreciating it for every

His views are like that of many people in society today. You don't have to be an environmentalist, park ranger, or something along those lines tovalue
the land. The landscape is necessary for humans to understand the true meaning of the world. Things such as lakes, rivers, mountains, trees, rocks,
hills, and animals each play a specific and valuable role in the environment. Each serves its own purpose, and without each, the environment and
landscape would not be what it is. For example, I use paper in my everyday life, and eat meat just about everyday, and these products are from trees
and animals, which both come from the landscape. I am very appreciative of these things, and am very thankful to the landscape for them. I don't
consider a situation such as this, as "raping" the land or using the land in a negative way. Then again, some people may. If the animal was close to
becoming extinct or on a protection list, then I would definitely consider it "raping" the land, or if the trees which were being used for paper
products are coming from a protected area, or an area scarce with trees, then that would also definitely be considered "raping" or destroying the
landscape. In "The Land Ethic" by Aldo Leopold, he says, "It is inconceivable to me that an ethical relation to land can exist without love, respect, and
admiration for land, and a high regard for its value. By value, I of course mean something far broader than mere

Skepticism Vogel Analysis
Vogel answers The Problem of Skepticism, through use of Inference to the Best Explanation. However, by using inference to the best argument to
rule out the skeptical argument he overlooks that the skeptical argument is within itself an objection to inference to the best explanation. The
Problem of Skepticism states that you cannot know with certainty that any proposition is true. It does this by casting doubt on our senses by
proposing that the world we perceive is might not actually the one we live in but a dream or figment forced onto us by an evil demon. It then goes
on to say that since there is no way of knowing if we are in a dream or a hallucination made by an evil demon then we cannot know with certainty,
anything about the world. Vogel attempts to challenge this reasoning by attacking the premise that there is no way of knowing with certainty, whether
the world is real or a dream or a hallucination. He refers to the process of Inference to the Best Explanation to do so. Inference to the Best Explanation
follows the reasoning that some facts are observed and then explanations for these facts are proposed, the best...show more content...
Vogel might say that is it the simplest and makes the most sense to him and therefore he thought, not un–rationally that it was the best argument. Using
the evil demon hypothesis as a n example the skeptic could then argue that, what's to say that the thought that the real world hypothesis was the best
wasn't actually thought out but brought on by the evil demon. Someone might answer to this that Vogel actually thinking it would be the best

Fluids And Electrolytes Essay

  • 1. Fluids and Electrolytes Essay Advanced Pathophysiology & Health Assessment NUR5703 2011 Pre–course Learning Objectives: Fluids and Electrolytes: 1. Identify and describe the composition of the fluid compartments within the body Either Intracellular fluid (ICF– 2/3 of the body's water) or extracellular fluid (ECF –one third of the body's water). The two main extracellular fluid compartments are the interstitial fluid and the intravascular fluid, which is the blood plasma. Other ECF compartments include the lymph and the transcellular fluids such as the synovial , intestinal, bilary, hepatic, pancreatic, CSF, sweat, urine, pleural, peritoneal, pericardial and intraocular fluids. * Calcium: Ca++ 2.25–2.75 mmol/L. Most calcium (99%) is located in the bone and the remainder is in the plasma and body cells. Calcium is a necessary ion for many fundamental metabolic processes: * It is the major cation for the structure of bones and teeth * It serves as an enzymatic cofactor for blood clotting * Is required for hormone secretion and the function of cell receptors * Plasma membrane stability and permeability are directly related to calcium ions, as is the transmission of nerve impulses and the contraction of muscles * ICF calcium is primarily located in the mitochondria * Chloride: Cl– 95–105 mmol/L. Chloride is the major anion in the ECF. It provides electroneutrality, particularly in relation tosodium * Phosphate: HPO4– 0.5– 1.25 mmol/L : Phosphate is primarily found in the bones (85%) with smaller amounts found in the intracellular and extracellular spaces. Phosphate act as an intracellular and extracellular anion buffer in the regulation of acid–base balance; in the form of ATP it provides energy for muscle contraction 3. Discuss the concept of tonicity and explain the following concepts: Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Summary: A Quick Explanation A quick explanation. First Andrea was blowing up my phone all week to check the status on the authorization and I explained to her we have a department work on obtaining authorization will let know once she clear. Finally on 8/27/2015 I decided to obtain the auth myself because she was driving me crazy. So I called CIV to find out what CPT codes to use to obtain authorization for a bone marrow procedure. Keep in mind this was the day before, so that mean no one in CIV had worked on her case. Second of all she keep saying that I felled to get an auth for the genetic testing but I did what CIV advised me do. So if you think about it, not even CIV obtain authorization for pathology or genetic testing . I was nice enough to assist with obtaining authorization because I could have just redirected her to CIV and let them deal with the problem but I didn't ....show more content... In the following weeks she received an EOB from her insurance company . A EOB is an Explanation of Benefits it's not a bill. The EOB explains the coverage initially offered by the insurance company for the services render. I explained to her that I was willing to write an appeal letter for whatever wasn't paid for but "she has to wait until UM send her a bill". Why? Because then I can appeal or justify whatever wasn't paid for . She finally received her bill last week. Humana didn't pay for the genetic testing , so I called Humana and asked what I needed to retroact the genetic testing. All Human asked for was for clinical . I'm still working with Humana. I understand she frustrated and I apologized to her multiple time but she has made this whole situation hard. Dalia, patient relation and myself have been working on this. It seems like Mrs. Williams doesn't understand their process. I was very close on sending her to risk management because she was becoming very passive and rude in her Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Before entering English 1301, I had my doubts about what this class was going to consist of. Considering this is a college level English class, and a subject I struggled in, my worries were not at ease. Throughout the year, my understanding and comprehension of the writing process, as well as how to write different varieties of writing, have strengthened. After partaking in this course, I am confident I have met the student learning outcomes. After completing my first college level English class, I would be expected to meet four student learning outcomes. One of those being I could use rhetorical devices to strengthen my essays. Coming into this course, I did not have a grasp over this subject and knew it was something I could improve on....show more content... I have improved my grammar through feedback from my instructor, and workshops I participated in. There is a significant difference between my writing conventions from the beginning of the year to my present writing conventions. In my second essay, The Drastic Evolution of Teen Life, I have noticed many writing convention errors. In this essay I said, "Also with the lack of technology, they were influenced to be more adventurous and get out of the house and explore things on their own" (The Drastic Evolution of Teen Life) This sentence is a prime example of faulty sentence structure; it lacks punctuation in the right places. My third essay, Euthanasia: Condemned by Doctors, has less errors and shows improvement on these writing conventions. Improvement can be seen in the sentence, " Euthanasia should not be legal because it is not morally correct, undermines medical research, and denies patients the final stage of growth"(Euthanasia: Condemned by Doctors). This shows development on sentence structure, punctuation, and helps gives my essay a polished look. Without this, errors I may have previously made would be even more Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. The Biological Perspective : Psychology Essay PSYCHOLOGY 1010: CONTEMERORY PSYCHOLOGY: 1.The Biological Perspective: This is the study of exactly how the physical events within the physical body interact with the events in the external environment. This is expressed by our perceptions, memories, behaviors and interactions with everything around us. We can think about our heredity and genetic makeup and the influences that has on each one of us as an individual. Then think about the stress of poor health and illness and how we may express our emotions with those around us. Since we are diverse as individuals we rely on our physiological make up and the stimuli of our environment to adapt to each situation. This human biology helps us to constantly adapt and survive in an ever–changing world. 2.The Behavioral Perspective: This perspective is based on environmental rewards and punishers to encourage or discourage behaviors. This is usually notes through direct observation of the particular act in the specific environment. Social cognitive learning is used to further explain values, expectations, and intentions of the individual. This theory was the main stream behaviorist theory for over 50 years, as it focuses on precision and objectivity. It is thought to have advanced science as a whole and has given psychology some of the most accurate and detailed finding to date. 3.The Cognitive Perspective: This is a way to explain how an individual's thoughts and explanations have a profound effect on their actions feelings Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Examples Of A Memorable Experience Essay Memorable Moments First, my memorable and valuable experience in college has allowed me the chance to be able to sharpen my study skills in my chosen field. There have been opportunities for me to learn and improve my skills through my time in college, which I am very thankful and happy about. For example, at my school, in the Writing Center, I have learned some writing tips that I didn't even know existed, and had this not been a part of my experience I would still be unaware. Because of this, despite what I was thinking, I still had quite a bit to learn; but this has given me the chance to improve my craft more through attending school, as well as give me a lot more confidence in the area that I plan to study towards. And as a result, some day I will have a rewarding career from this memorable and value experience....show more content... For instance, Learning about religion has been a privilege, and all the parts of the world I was unfamiliar with, religions of Islam and Buddhism, that beforehand I had no knowledge of. From this experience, I have learned a lot of things about these cultures that were very interesting and how the religions are followed. Also, learning about all the different practices and ideas of the religions in different parts of the world, such as worshipping multiple deities, reincarnation, and meditation, has been memorable to me because of its value, and all the misconceptions that are cleared up now that I once had, which has enabled me to understand the topic better and be less ignorant. It has also helped me understand traditions and beliefs of others more clear, no matter where in the world of their origin. This has made my time as a student a lot more memorable, worthwhile, and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Introductory Paragraph Analysis Introductory Paragraph Hunger. Emptiness. Death. In the novel Night by Elie wiesel speaks about hunger as something all jews were used to, empty and deprived of nutrition they were already dead. Hunger consumes all hope and love that people have with one another. Body Paragraph 1 In Night, hunger devours most relationships within the vile gates of auschwitz, for example when Elie Wiesel was on the train cart he witnessed a son kill his own father for some crust "Meir, my little Meir! Don't you recognize me... You're killing your father... I have bread... for you too..." (pg 101). From hunger a son betrayed his own father only to fill his stomach, in the end they both died due to their desire to contain hunger. • 7. Essay on The Meaning of Life The Meaning of Life My few years on this planet have been a bit confusing. I have learned of many aspects of life from which one can draw meaning, if indeed such meaning can be drawn. I have also learned that there can be no singular meaning of life to stand for us all, or even any one of us. What I have learned above all is that trying to put words to the meaning of life is a task of absolute absurdity. This is not to be confused with the idea that life has no meaning, for life certainly has meaning. However, there is no single meaning of life to be defined – life is different for us all. Therefore, rather than define life for an entire planet, I shall try to explain what life means as I perceive it, and why it means so....show more content... Life is a complicated twist of suffering, laughing, and learning all merging to tell a great story – or great many stories. Based on this view, "it is not the end goal or outcome of life that gives life meaning but rather the quality of the story, the quality with which one lives out and develops his or her role." At the time, this event seemed rather insignificant and did not merit remembrance. However, its catastrophic effects on my attitude that evening may have helped to mold me into the person I have become. I learned that suffering through such an event, as childish as it was, is quite necessary in any life. Such pains are part of an interminable cycle and only generate balance in one's life (p. 62, 'Life as Suffering'). Despite my horrid time spent that evening, the laughter brought since the incident is a worthy tradeoff. Laughter is an all too necessary function of life, just as suffering and the wide range of other emotions. "Some thinkers would emphasize the importance of sophistication in humor, but others would say that laughter itself is what is important." Whatever the case may be, laughter is an important ingredient in life, and must not be taken for granted nor ignored. Despite such emotional ties to life, I have also learned that life is not only about emotions. Those emotions are generated from the chain reactions created endlessly in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. I have learned many things throughout the course of the term, including such things as: how to write an essay and how to improve on essays that I have already written, how to locate and composite better research through the use of numerous resources found at the campus library, the internet, and the "Common Sense" textbook, how to cite research, examples, and quotations properly within the contents of my research paper as well as document it accurately according to MLA standards. Through the exploration of the "Subjects and Strategies" textbook, I have learned nine different methods used when writing an effective essay and how the different writing styles affect the overall theme and tone of the essay when used properly. This past ...show more content... This allowed me to write more extensively on the topic I had chosen which in turn helped expand the size of my research paper. I received a B on my final draft; the first passing grade I have ever received on a research paper. I am very satisfied with my grade. When it came to the essays writing became a little trickier because I had to understand what it was I needed to write about and the style in which I need to write it in. There are nine essay writing methods which I learned while attending this course: exemplification, compare/contrast, cause and effect, proposal, narration, process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to me by the instructor was finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything else became easier. I would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing was in its best form. Most of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was understood. My final drafts were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them. For my exemplification essay I chose to write about the reasons why condoms Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Speech Reflection Essay During speech class this semester, I gave several different types of speeches on several different topics. During this semester, my ability to give speeches in front of an audience has improved quite a bit, I hope. Going into the semester, I had a really hard time giving speeches to people, but now that speech is almost over I feel like I am more capable of doing so. I think the thing I did best during the semester was getting good information for each of my speeches. My favorite assignment was most likely the impromptu speech. I really liked that one because we did not have to prepare an outline or anything like that, we just got to go up there and speak. During this semester, I learned a lot about how to give speeches such as the proper way to stand so I do not rock, or how to use my hands to emphasize my points. In the future, I think that I will be able to control my speed better during my speeches which will help the people I am presenting to understand my message. I think the skills I have acquired during speech will help me for the rest of my life. No matter what career I choose, I am sure that at some point I will have to present to someone about something. The skills I learned in speech will also help me just communicate with people in a one on one situation easier than I do now. I can use these skills throughout the rest of high school and through my six years of college still to come because whenever I have to present a project I will know how to effectively communicate my message to my audience. Based off of all of my reflection sheets, video evaluations, and peer critiques I have improved over the course of the semester. At the beginning of the semester I had a problem with speed and using to many "filler" words. As the year progressed, my speed became more and more controllable and I used less and less filler words. After my most recent speech, I'm still not quite at the level I want to be at, but I am far better than I was at the very beginning. I think just speaking in front of people more than I am used to doing has helped me develop better speaking skills and grow in my ability to effectively communicate with others. Throughout the semester I learned a lot about speaking, performing, and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Explanation about a Personal Situation Explanatory Essay The following information is being provided as an explanation to the University as to issues that have significantly impacted my school performance and represent changes in my personal and school related goals. On Sept. 18th, 2011 at 2:44 am in Hamilton Ontario, Canada my girlfriend was killed in a hit and run accident. The driver was drunk and didn't stop when he hit her. I was very depressed and continue struggle with bouts of depression that keep me from fully concentrate on my studies. My average for almost all 4U classes are around 95, but when this thing happened, my result dropped from high 90s to high 70's. This is mainly because the depression after her death. I understand that many individuals have to unfortunately deal with the death of a loved one. For me, the sudden and unexpected nature of her demise, and under the circumstances surrounding her death, I was completely devastated. It was different than any other loss I had ever experienced. There was no way to prepare myself for what happened. What minute we were talking and making plans to see each other later, and the seemingly in the next minute, I was being told that she was gone. Even in writing these words as an effort to explain my current academic situation, I find myself struggling to put the words on paper. It still seems so unreal to me. In addition to the feelings of grief and loss I have and continue to experience, there is also very significant and disturbing levels of anger Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Explanation, Understanding, and Subjectivity ABSTRACT: Many theorists of explanation from Hempel onward have worked with the explicit or implicit assumption that considerations of the subjective sense of understanding should be kept out of the formulation of a proper theory of explanation. They claim that genuine understanding of an event comes only from being in an appropriate cognitive relation to the true explanation of that event. I argue that considerations of the subjective sense of understanding cannot be completely removed from the process of formulating and justifying an acceptable theory of explanation. Although understanding is neither a necessary nor sufficient condition for an explanation, understanding is necessary as an...show more content... Hence, we cannot say that anyone's sense of understanding is either necessary or sufficient for an account to be an explanation. However, I shall argue, we cannot completely avoid all reference to understanding in a correct theory of explanation. This situation presents a pressing problem for philosophical studies of the nature of explanation, for many theorists relegate the sense of understanding to a strictly derivative position by claiming that the subjective sense of understanding of an event comes, under appropriate (articulable) conditions, from consideration of a potential explanation, and that genuine understanding comes, under appropriate conditions, from consideration of the true explanation. (See, for example, Hempel 1948, 256–257.) According to such philosophers we should rely on a proper theory of explanation to delineate potential explanations from non–explanatory accounts and a delineation of understanding will follow. I shall argue that this is not a workable option. One can also express the issue at hand in terms of the relative subjectivity or objectivity of explanation. Some theorists of explanation state an objectivity criterion for an account of explanation, and many others implicitly employ one. Wesley Salmon, for example, states clearly that the identifying criteria for scientific explanations must be objective, independent of personal, psychological considerations. • 12. My Best Experience With Exercise In My Life Your body is sore from physical exercises and you feel like giving up. Then you realize that having exercise in your life will help reach your personal goals. Exercise can be a pain, but it is the good type of pain that motivates us to reach our goals. Currently, exercise has helped me to study better for tests and to enjoy a fun sport with family. If I continue to have exercise in my life, I will have a healthy future. My best experience with exercise was when I learned how to ride a two–wheel bicycle. I was 11 years old at the time and my father bought a new bicycle for me. We went to a park and my father was giving me a little push to move forward. I almost fell and my nerves were kicking in. However, I saw my father ride his bicycle with...show more content... I still remember my whole body being sore from the first exercise routine. It showed me how much I needed to exercise my body or I will be in big trouble when it comes to anything physical. I had to do pushups, sit ups, and so much more. When I went to the gym, I was given a personal workout to complete. I will make my own exercise plan to implement in my studying hours at college. This gym class helped me to push my hardest, even if I felt a lot of pain. I was able to overcome difficult workouts, like performing, squats, mountain climbers, and especially burpees. Time management is a weakness that I still need to work on. I will be able to manage my time with studies and physical activities in college. At the beginning of the year, my goals were to lose pounds, and improve on exercises that I did not like, such as running and pushups. I improved on my running by running up a hill multiple times. I had more oxygen pumping throughout my body that enable me to run a farther distance.I lost some pounds and my family is seeing the change. However, I still have to work on having a better diet. I tend to eat large portions that are not healthy for me, like two plates of white rice. I will continue to lead a healthier lifestyle and hopefully my siblings do the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Scientific Theory Essay Scientific Theory A scientific theory is a well–substantiated explanation of some aspects of the natural world, based on a body of knowledge that has been repeatedly confirmed through observation and experiment. Scientist creates scientific theories from hypothesis that have been corroborated through the scientific method, then gather evidence to test their accuracy. The strength of a scientific theory is related to the diversity of phenomena it can explain, which is measured by its ability to make falsifiable predictions with respect to the phenomena. Both scientific laws and scientific theories are produced from scientific methods through the formation and testing of hypotheses, and can predict the behavior of the natural world. Both are typically supported by observation and experimental science. However, scientific laws are descriptive accounts of how nature will behave under certain conditions. Scientific theories are broader in scope, and give overarching explanations of how nature works and why it exhibits certain characteristics. They are supported by evidence from many different sources, and may contain one or more laws. Crimes include such things as murder, stealing a car, resisting arrest, possession or dealing of illegal drugs, being nude in public , drunk driving, and bank robbery. Crime is an act that has been timeless and has been committed practically since the start of time. Crimes are frequently classified according to their seriousness as felonies or misdemeanors. Generally, felonies are more serious than misdemeanors. Under the federal criminal law system, felonies are crimes for which the punishment is death or imprisonment for more than a year. Amisdemeanor is punishable by a fine or by imprisonment for less than a year. In most states persons convicted of felonies are sent to state prisons, while those guilty of misdemeanors serve their sentence in city, or county jails, or correction houses. Crimes against people include assault, kidnapping, murder, and sexual attacks. Such crimes usually bring severe punishments. Crimes against property include arson, automobile theft, burglary, embezzlement, forgery, fraud, larceny, and vandalism. In most cases, these crimes carry lighter penalties than the crimes set against the person. Robbery is the crime most difficult to classify. The law considers robbery a crime against the person or against the property, according to the case. Robbery may involve simply stealing property from another person, but when a personal encounter occurs between the robber and his victim, it may include violence and bodily harm. This usually occurs during muggings or other strong–arm robberies. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Many things begin to change as a result of this and society beings to turn into something completely different. One of the most overlooked changes that takes place is that of the environment and landscape. The landscape is one of the most important parts of our society's culture and has a great effect on how we live. It seems that nowadays, many individuals are taking advantage of the land and nothing appreciating it for every thing that it is worth. His views are like that of many people in society today. You don't have to be an environmentalist, park ranger, or something along those lines tovalue the land. The landscape is necessary for humans to understand the true meaning of the world. Things such as lakes, rivers, mountains, trees, rocks, hills, and animals each play a specific and valuable role in the environment. Each serves its own purpose, and without each, the environment and landscape would not be what it is. For example, I use paper in my everyday life, and eat meat just about everyday, and these products are from trees and animals, which both come from the landscape. I am very appreciative of these things, and am very thankful to the landscape for them. I don't consider a situation such as this, as "raping" the land or using the land in a negative way. Then again, some people may. If the animal was close to becoming extinct or on a protection list, then I would definitely consider it "raping" the land, or if the trees which were being used for paper products are coming from a protected area, or an area scarce with trees, then that would also definitely be considered "raping" or destroying the landscape. In "The Land Ethic" by Aldo Leopold, he says, "It is inconceivable to me that an ethical relation to land can exist without love, respect, and admiration for land, and a high regard for its value. • 18. Skepticism Vogel Analysis Vogel answers The Problem of Skepticism, through use of Inference to the Best Explanation. However, by using inference to the best argument to rule out the skeptical argument he overlooks that the skeptical argument is within itself an objection to inference to the best explanation. The Problem of Skepticism states that you cannot know with certainty that any proposition is true. It does this by casting doubt on our senses by proposing that the world we perceive is might not actually the one we live in but a dream or figment forced onto us by an evil demon. It then goes on to say that since there is no way of knowing if we are in a dream or a hallucination made by an evil demon then we cannot know with certainty, anything about the world. Vogel attempts to challenge this reasoning by attacking the premise that there is no way of knowing with certainty, whether the world is real or a dream or a hallucination. He refers to the process of Inference to the Best Explanation to do so. Inference to the Best Explanation follows the reasoning that some facts are observed and then explanations for these facts are proposed, the best...show more content...
